Mariah Carey for New York Magazine - September 2020!
This issue of New York Magazine features the musical artist and pop star Mariah Carey, who welcomed features writer Allison P. Davis into her quarantine pod as the first visitor in months. Known for her candid profiles of cultural figures like Lena Dunham, Cardi B, Davis arrived at Carey’s compound with a mask on her face and fresh negative test results in hand for a four hour conversation that began at midnight. Meeting Carey in person, Davis says she was surprised to learn “there’s this sort of mischievous, real, after-hours party vibe to her that I don’t think you get to see because she’s so hard-working.”

Carey, who was photographed on the cover by Dana Scruggs, had a lot to say, anticipating her new memoir to be published this fall. Also in the magazine, the editors assemble their most anticipated events for a highly unusual fall season, with profiles of Miranda July, Amber Ruffin, Big Sean, and more, and a total list of 91 events worth looking forward to. “We’re thrilled to feature someone who knows no season – Mariah Carey – at the center of it,” says New York’s culture editor Gazelle Emami, “as she reflects on an epic 30-year career.”

This issue also includes “The Lost Season,” a sweeping survey by Cathy Horyn of the fashion industry’s most prolific, significant designers, many of whom spoke candidly for the first time in years and who sat for remote portraits for a portfolio by Christopher Anderson. “I wanted to survey them about the future of fashion but also its recent past—what works and what doesn’t,” Horyn writes. “Turns out they wanted to talk too.”

Summer isn’t over yet, as Kenya Moore is proving with her latest eye-catching outfit. The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member recently stunned in a pretty, floral maxi dress that’s perfect for a sunny day out on the town.

Kenya took to Instagram to show off the flirty ensemble on August 29. As captured in the photo below, the RHOA mom looked radiant in the ankle-length, flowery frock, which features a low-cut neckline and a flowy skirt with ruffle detailing.

“Even through difficult times, there is always a reason to smile,” Kenya captioned the photo.

#MusicNews: Spike Lee Commemorates Michael Jackson’s Birthday With New Video for “They Don’t Care About Us!
Spike Lee Commemorates Michael Jackson’s Birthday With ‘They Don’t Care About Us (2020)” Short Film Using Footage From Global Protests Over Racial Inequality
“Great protest songs can’t get old, stale or non-relevant because the struggle still continues,” says Lee.
Director Spike Lee yesterday revealed a new version of Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us” short film during his annual Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson block party celebrating the King of Pop’s birthday, which this year took place virtually.

“Great protest songs can’t get old, stale or non-relevant because the struggle still continues,” he said. “That’s why THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT US is the anthem during this chaotic, pandemic world we are living in.” (See full statement below.)

WATCH
“They Don’t Care About Us (2020)” incorporates scenes from the original two short films for the “HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I” single (one filmed in Brazil and one set in prison examining police brutality) with footage from protests which took place all over the world including cities such as Osaka, Helsinki, Paris, Madrid, Atlanta, NYC, Tel Aviv, Rafah, Brooklyn, Tunis, London, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Toronto, Kenosha, Melbourne, Chicago and many more.

“They Don’t Care About Us” was written and composed and produced by Michael Jackson who said of the track, “The song in fact is about the pain of prejudice and hate and is a way to draw attention to social and political problems.” One reporter wrote “(the song) is a brilliant, politically potent, street inspired rap-pop hybrid. It became a song that not only resonated for the disenfranchised in America but also for those around the world.”

#HipHopNews: Late Producer Legend J Dilla's Classic Album 'Donuts' Targeted In Sample Lawsuit!
J Dilla passed away almost 15 years ago but that isn’t stopping him from being sued. According to Rolling Stone, the late producer is facing a lawsuit over an allegedly unauthorized sample on his acclaimed album Donuts.
The song under scrutiny is “Workinonit,” which is the first full-length track on the LP. The cut samples British rock band 10cc’s “The Worst Band in the World” from the 1974 album Sheet Music.

Music Sales Corporation, a New York-based company in control of the administration rights for “The Worst Band in the World,” has filed the complaint. The company claims Dilla didn’t obtain permission to use the song on “Workinonit” despite legally sampling 10cc’s work on a different Donuts track, “Waves.”
Stones Throw Records, Universal Music and E.P.H.C.Y. Publishing are named as defendants in the Dilla suit. The complaint says publishing company Man-Ken Music, Ltd, which previously owned the rights to “The Worst Band in the World” before entering an agreement with Music Sales Corp, previously raised concerns about the alleged copyright infringement around 2014.

Music Sales Corp is seeking compensatory damages and all “Workinonit” profits from a minimum of the last three years. It also wants costs such as attorney fees to be covered.
Dilla, who suffered from lupus, died in February 2006. His work has been heavily admired by star producers such as Kanye West, Pharrell and Madlib as well as new school Hip Hop notables Joey Bada$$ and Kenny Beats.

Over the course of his storied career, Dilla a.k.a. Jay Dee produced songs for a multitude of legendary artists. A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Ghostface Killah, De La Soul and his own group Slum Village are just a few of the names featured in his discography.

Donuts, an instrumental LP, was released just a few days before his death. It’s been reissued on several occasions, including a 10th-anniversary edition in 2016. “Workinonit” was also licensed for use in the intro of Dave Chappelle’s Netflix specials Deep in the Heart of Texas and The Age of Spin, which premiered on the streaming service in 2017.

Pastor John Gray Of Relentless Church Apologizes And Discusses Therapy For His Marriage!
In an emotional videotaped confession posted online Sunday, Relentless Church Pastor John Gray apologized and addressed rumors that spread through entertainment blogs earlier this month.
Allegations of an extramarital relationship first spread on social media and entertainment news websites on Aug. 21, when a woman who claimed to have been communicating with Gray was featured on a live video stream on YouTube.
Last week, Gray's attorneys told The Greenville News that Gray was the victim of extortion and blackmail, and they said that a physical affair was never alleged.

On Sunday, Gray told his congregation that he is undergoing extensive counseling and seeking guidance of other pastors for help.
"There are people who may never listen to me preach again, and I am so very sad about that," Gray said on the Relentless Church stage in Greenville. "I also believe this moment will call more people to repentance unto salvation. In that, my pain will have been worth it."

While Gray did not say specifically admit to or deny having been involved in an extramarital relationship, he said pastors are held to the highest of standards, need to maintain their character when no one is looking and have "fidelity and faithfulness in marriage." He said not staying accountable caused him to make "bad decisions."
Gray said he is not sure how long his therapy process will take, and he told his congregation that they may not see him for some weeks.

"I'm going deeper into the process so that I once and for all can receive the same freedom that I pray for everybody else," he said.
Gray also took the opportunity to apologize to his wife, Aventer, and then to the church.
"Aventer, I am sorry for the pain I have caused you, and my prayer is that the life I live from this moment will be one worthy of the love that you extended that our family receives from. I am grateful for you and our children," he said. "To my church, I am sorry. You’ve gone through enough – from cars, to meetings with leaders that have caused great pain and deep division among political ideologies to one thing after another. I want to tell you I’m sorry."
Gray is an associate pastor for Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston. He came to Greenville in 2018 when pastor Ron Carpenter moved his Redemption Church ministry to California. Gray formed Relentless Church out of the former Redemption Church campus on Haywood Road.

Gray has roughly one million followers on Instagram, has published two books and was formerly a reality television star on the Oprah Winfrey Network show "The Book of John Gray."
He was the subject of an earlier controversy in 2019 that Gray had referred to as an "emotional affair."

A Relentless Church spokesperson did not immediately respond to calls or emails requesting comment for this story. Gray's attorney, Devon Puriefoy, also did not immediately respond to calls or messages seeking comment.

'Sweetie Pie's': Miss Robbie Breaks Her Silence And She Is Brokenhearted And Not Yet Ready To Speak Publicly!
Sweetie Pie’s fans have been praying for the Montgomery family matriarch Miss Robbie after learning that her son, Tim Norman, is currently facing charges in relation to the death of Miss Robbie’s grandson, Andre Montgomery. Norman is Montgomery’s uncle.

In her first statement, Miss Robbie tells a close friend that she is simply heartbroken about Norman’s alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Tim Norman’s arrest in connection with the alleged murder-for-hire plot against his nephew
According to prosecutors, Norman is currently sitting in a Missippi jail on the presumption of his involvement in the death of his 21-year-old nephew.
Prosecutors say two years before Montgomery’s death, Norman took out multiple life insurance policies on Montgomery totaling $450,000, which lists Norman as the sole beneficiary.

In the days leading up to Montgomery’s death, police records reveal that Norman and other co-conspirators began communicating via burner phones to find out Montgomery’s location.
Norman allegedly tried cashing in on Montgomery’s life insurance polices a week after the murder but was denied because he could not provide adequate documentation.

All About The Tea’s interview with Tasha K alleges that Norman’s jealously and greed is to blame for his involvement, explaining that Norman was swarming in debt and was also jealous of the relationship between Miss Robbie and Montgomery.
Sources claiming to be close to the family have expressed great concern for Miss Robbie. According to a report from All About The Tea, some members believe Norman’s next intended victim was going to be his mother.
Family members say they discovered a life insurance policy for Miss Robbie worth over $1 million. Norman is listed as the sole beneficiary. They are also investigating a series of events in which they say Miss Robbie’s life was in danger.

“Tim was drowning in debt,” the source says. “His Jackson, Mississippi location was derailed because of Coronavirus and he owed a lot of people money. He also owes Janae thousands in back child support and he owes the IRS back taxes. Please keep our family in your prayers.”
Bossip reports that a St. Louis journalist, April Simpson, who is close with the Montgomery family says she’s spoken to Miss Robbie.
“Life seems unreal right now, especially for people dealing with pain and heartache,” Simpson writes. “One of those people is our beloved Ms. Robbie Montgomery. I reached out to her letting her know she is loved and has an immense amount of support.”

But Simpson says Miss Robbie is simply brokenhearted and not yet ready to speak publicly.
“Thanks for the prayers, but at this time I’m weak and can’t make a statement,” Simpson shares on behalf of Miss Robbie.
She continues: “Please keep praying for me and my son.”

Sweetie Pie’s viewers remember the close relationship with Miss Robbie and Montgomery. Millions are keeping her in their prayers during this difficult time.

‘Black Panther’ Star Letitia Wright Shares Moving Eulogy For Chadwick Boseman: “You’re Forever In My Heart”!
Letitia Wright expressed her grief for late Black Panther co-star and on-screen brother Chadwick Boseman in an emotional Instagram post.
Wright, who starred alongside Boseman as T’Challa’s younger, tech genius sister Shuri, shared a tear-jerking video of sunsets and other moments of natural beauty to commemorate Boseman’s own spirit.

“A soul so beautiful, when you walked into a room, there was calm. You always moved with grace and ease,” Wright recites. “Every time I saw you, the world would be a better place.”
The Death on the Nile actress speaks about her mourning, noting that “she didn’t know this what I was waking up to,” upon hearing the news on Friday. She writes that she’s cried rivers of tears for the loss that deeply affected Hollywood and other Black Panther cast members.
Wright posted the video a few days after she initially reacted to the news. On Friday she tweeted a brief “this hurts. really hurts,” in response to Boseman’s death.

She went on to speak about how she, like many others, did not know Boseman was secretly dealing with colon cancer. She said that she had sent her co-star messages to check in on him, only to receive no response.
“I wish I got to say goodbye,” Wright says in her emotional tribute.
As videos of waves crashing and receding from the shore and footage of the sun lowering past the horizon continue to play, she goes on to reflect on the moments she shared with Boseman. While speaking about the first time she met the 21 Bridges actor in Los Angeles for the Black Panther filming, her Instagram post featured videos of the two actors sharing embraces and goofing around.

Wright’s video concludes with photos of Boseman along with magazine clippings of him and the rest of the Black Panther cast. To end the video, Wright says that she and those who knew Boseman will carry on his legacy for years to come.

“It is also written that all things are made new, there is light in the darkness. Streams of living water flow, giving new life,” she says. “And all that’s left now is for us to allow all the seeds that you have planted on the earth to grow, to blossom, to become even more beautiful. You’re forever in my heart.”
Boseman died of colon cancer on Friday. The Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Get On Up and Da 5 Bloods actor was 43.

R. Kelly’s Almost Got Shanked In Jail, Requests He Be Let Out!
R. Kelly’s legal issues continue to mount with no foreseeable end in sight. Rumors about him catching the beats are true.
As spotted on Raw Story the Chicago native was given a very rude awakening last week by one of his fellow prisoners. According to court documentation, an inmate with “f— the feds” tattooed on his face apparently made his way into Robert’s cell while he was sleeping and proceeded to stomp his head in. According to the New York Post, the assailant, tried and failed to shank the crooner with an ink pen.
Naturally, the attack concerned his legal team thus they are now asking that the disgraced singer be set free and spend his time at his home while he waits for trial.

“Only in a Third World nation could somebody be held, indefinitely, without the possibility of going to trial. It is un-American. It is illegal,” wrote his lawyer Steven Greenberg. “If Mr. Kelly cannot be provided with a trial, at a minimum he should be able to await that trial in a less restrictive environment.” This is not the first time his attorneys have made the request. Earlier this year they pleaded with the judge for Kelly to be sent home due to Covid-19 concerns. Since the self-proclaimed King of R&B is deemed a flight risk the petition was denied.

The “Step In The Name Of Love” singer faces several federal charges of sexual abuse and witness tampering in his 2008 child pornography case. Additionally he is accused of racketeering conspiracy in U.S. District Court of New York for allegedly picking out under aged girls at his concerts and priming them for future sexual relations. Most recently some of his associates were also caught up in legal drama for reported witness intimation and bribery. Additionally his manager has been accused of calling in a shooting threat to the 2018 screening of Surviving R. Kelly screening in New York City.

Sen Ed Markey Wins Mass. Senate Primary Fight Against Kennedy!
The Associated Press has projected Sen. Ed Markey will win the Democratic Senate primary, fending off a strong challenge by U.S. Rep Joe Kennedy. With the projected victory, Markey will deal the Kennedy family its first loss in a Massachusetts federal election.
Markey led Kennedy 55%-45% with 43% of precincts reporting. Kennedy called Markey to concede the race just before the AP call was announced, according to Deputy Communications Director Mike Cummings.

Standing before Malden public library, Markey delivered a victory speech with a theme of justice — including racial justice, climate justice and justice for marginalized groups. He also stressed the hope he holds for young people.
"They will save us, if we trust them," Markey said. "We must follow these young people they want justice in our country and in our world."

Kennedy announced his bid against Markey in September 2019, saying he decided to challenge Markey as a way to shake up the status quo in Washington, just as Rep. Ayanna Pressley did in her successful bid against former Rep. Michael Capuano in 2018. He accused Markey of spending too much time in Washington at the expense of his constituents in Massachusetts and of coming late to the fight for racial equality.
Despite his rationale, Kennedy, whose family name is tantamount to political royalty in Massachusetts, was continually asked why he was running in the primary, and often grew frustrated that Markey was painted as the more progressive candidate.

Markey, meanwhile, received a critical early endorsement from New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with whom he co-wrote the Green New Deal, a sweeping proposal to rebuild the country’s infrastructure and combat climate change. A strong social media presence also drew the attention and ardor of younger voters, who soon began creating their own Markey memes and "stan" accounts to show their support.

Once a rising star in Democratic politics, Kennedy’s political future is now uncertain. In an election year when Democrats all around the country are waging an all-out battle to take back control of the Senate and the White House from the Republican Party, some observers questioned why Kennedy would challenge a fellow Democrat at all.

Markey is now expected to cruise to victory against Republican Kevin O'Connor in the general election.

College football is a vital part of the fabric of Southern America, and typically isn’t an arena where political statements are made. However, the University of Alabama football, with head coach Nick Saban in tow, marched on behalf of the Black Lives Matter movement.
As reported by local outlet WBMA, Saban, joined with members of his team on Monday (August 31) in Tuscaloosa, Ala. It appears to be the first such organized march made by the team, with the moment inspired by the instances of racial and social injustice nationwide, in particular Black people being shot by police.

“Throughout this process I’ve learned a lot from our players. I don’t get to the see the world in the same lens a lot of our players do. I respect and appreciate the lens that they see the world in,” Saban offered in a brief statement.

The players were not scheduled to field questions from the media as Monday was an off day from practice.

Former Advisor To Melania Trump Says Time Spent With Trump Family Was ‘Worst Mistake Of My Life’!
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, an unpaid White House advisor and former friend to first lady Melania Trump, says her time working for the Trump family was “the worst mistake of my life.”
She worked for the first lady up until her contract was terminated in February of 2018 when questions about inaugural spending arose, according to Hollywood Reporter.

In Wolkoff’s book’ Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady,’ she writes, “When it really counted, Melania wasn’t there for me. She wasn’t really my friend. In fact, I wish I had never met her.”
In the book, set to be published on Tuesday, the event planner says the pair met in 2003 at Vogue magazine.
She talks about the tense relationship between the first lady and her stepdaughter, Ivanka, going so far as to detail how the pair tried to black Ivanka from sharing any of the spotlight on the day of Trump’s inauguration.

She details the planning of the 2017 inauguration in two of the book’s chapters, saying she repeatedly raised questions about the budget until “eventually she came to be viewed as the problem.”
“Like a broken record, I kept expressing my concerns about budgets,” Wolkoff writes. “Also, like a broken record, I became everyone’s problem.”
Wolkoff said she is cooperating in ongoing criminal investigations into the committee’s operations in an interview with ABC News on Monday.

A spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump called the book “full of mistruths and paranoia” based on an “imagined need for revenge” in emailed statements
