Chloe and Halle Bailey for Cosmopolitan - October 2020!
Grammy-nominated sisters Chloe x Halle [Bailey] cover the October issue of Cosmopolitan on newsstands nationwide on September 15.
They discuss everything from sisterhood and setting boundaries, to releasing an album during quarantine and how coloring is their new wind-down activity.

Chloe on being good to herself and setting boundaries: “Anytime something doesn’t work out, it’s not really healthy to say, ‘I was the reason it messed up.’ I’m still learning that. I’m learning that your happiness, you can’t put on someone else.”
Halle on the release of their most recent album: “Music has been such a healer for the Black community since the beginning of time. Maybe it could help some people distract their minds from quarantine and what’s going on in the world today with hope and positivity.”

Halle on sisterhood: “Whenever we’re apart, I feel like my right arm is missing. I say this all the time: I’m not sure what I would do if I was by myself going through this whole thing.”
Chloe on how she and Halle naturally complement one another: “We’re not trying to force anything or purposely construct two different narratives or suffocate the other into one type of way.”

Halle on what truly matters to her: “I’ve realized the things that matter to me are my happiness, my family, being around the people I love and keeping my spirit clean with their positive energy,” Halle says. “As long as I have that, no matter what happens, I am gucci, I am good.”
On Newsstands now.

#RHOA: Have Kandi Burruss & NeNe Leakes Seen Each Other Since Their RHOA Reunion Blowout?
Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes got along relatively well throughout season 12 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but when it came time for the virtual reunion in May, the two found themselves in a fight so explosive that it ended with NeNe turning her camera away and storming out of the room.
However, as any dedicated Bravo fan has come to learn, one single fight—even one that involves insults like "You could host the Grammys tomorrow, they will forget about you and your outfit" and "I'm embedded in your motherf--king brain, bitch"—doesn't necessarily signal the end of a friendship.

"It's a reality show, so you're dealing with real people, real emotions," Kandi explained on Quibi's Close Up by E! News. "And that time, it was a very heated discussion."
E!'s Will Marfuggi asked the Grammy-winning singer where she and her RHOA cast mate currently stand, as it turns out, the two haven't really talked to each other since the reunion.
Of course, we are living in a pandemic, so there aren't many opportunities for the two to interact.

But according to Kandi, she actually has run into NeNe on one occasion!

"This is the funny thing! I have seen her; I don't think she saw me," Kandi told Will and co-host Courtney Tezeno. "I saw her at a restaurant one day and walked right past her. She did not recognize me because I had the mask and I had, like, just got braids."
Kandi continued, "I wasn't looking like myself. But I said hello and she was talking to somebody and so I guess she didn't realize it me and kept walking."

And because Kandi and NeNe weren't "in a great space" as she put it, she just kept walking, too!

Naomi Osaka wins U.S. Open Defeating Victoria Azarenka!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Naomi Osaka ended Victoria Azarenka’s dream run to claim her second U.S. Open title in three years with a 1-6 6-3 6-3 comeback win on Saturday which cemented her status as the sport’s leading light both on and off the court.
Unlike the 22-year-old Japanese’s first U.S. Open win in 2018 over Serena Williams, which was played in a frothing Arthur Ashe Stadium, Saturday’s drama unfolded in a strangely quiet arena as COVID-19 health and safety protocols prevented fans from entering the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
But the lack of buzz around the stands did not stop the two former world number ones from producing a dazzling display of shot making.

As Osaka walked off with a third Grand Slam title, Azarenka was denied a U.S. Open crown for a third time having also finished runner-up in 2012 and 2013.
Still it was a remarkable and unexpected run for the 31-year-old Belarusian, who reached her first major final in seven years.
It was the second time in two weeks Azarenka, twice a winner at the Australian Open, and Osaka had set up a final showdown. The pair had been set to meet in the Western and Southern Open final on Aug. 29 until Osaka withdrew due to a hamstring injury.
“I actually don’t want to play you in more finals,” Osaka told Azarenka with a smile during the victory ceremony.

“I didn’t really enjoy that.
“That was a really tough match for me.
“And yes, really inspiring for me because I used to watch you play here when I was younger so just to have the opportunity to play you is really great and I learned a lot.”
As she has done in every match over the past fortnight, Osaka appeared on court with her left thigh strapped and a facemask with the name of a Black American victim of police brutality or racial injustice.
For the final it was Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old boy shot by police in 2014 while playing with a toy gun in a playgound.

Osaka had already replaced Serena Williams as top earner and now has assumed the leadership mantle that goes with it.
With the United States rocked by unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man, just three weeks ago by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Osaka had withdrawn from her semi-final at the Western and Southern Open in protest.

The men’s and women’s tour responded by postponing all the matches that were due to take place on the day of the protest by 24 hours and persuaded Osaka to contest the rescheduled match.
By taking the stand, the 22-year-old activist had made her point.
Azarenka, who ended Serena Williams bid for a record equalling 24th Grand Slam title in the semi-finals, carried that momentum into the final with a near flawless first set.

One of top returners in the women’s game, an energized Azarenka broke the fourth seed to start the final and twice more in a lopsided opening set that took just 27 minutes.
If any spectators had been allowed in Arthur Ashe Stadium, they no doubt would have been left stunned by events as a rampaging Azarenka again broke Osaka at the first opportunity in the second to go 2-0 up.

But Osaka would not lose her composure.
After no aces in the opening set, Osaka, one of the game’s top servers, slowly began to find her mark in the second. She hammered down five aces while helping herself to three breaks on way to levelling the match.
In the third it was Osaka applying all the early pressure on an increasingly rattled Azarenka. She took charge with a break to nudge in front 3-1.
Azarenka would show her fighting spirit with a break to get back on serve at 3-4 but Osaka would not be denied, immediately breaking back and holding serve to seal victory.

It marked the first time since Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in 1994 that a player had dropped the first set of the women’s final and fought back to win the title.

‘Dear White People’ Actor Jeremy Tardy Leaves Show, Alleges He Was Discriminated Against During Pay Negotiations!

Jeremy Tardy played Rashid Bakir in 11 episodes of the series, produced by Lionsgate.
He announced on Twitter that he’s leaving ahead of the show’s fourth and final season, calling out alleged discrimination during pay negotiations.

He wrote Friday (Sept. 11th):
“Unfortunately I will not be joining NETFLIX’s Dear White People for its fourth and final season due to my experience with Lionsgate and their practices of racial discrimination. After being offered to return for several episodes my team was notified that our counter offer would not be considered and that the initial offer was the “best and final”. This news was disturbing because one of my white colleagues — being a true ally — revealed that they too had received the same initial offer and had successfully negotiated a counter offer.”

He added that his team took the issue to Lionsgate, but the company allegedly wouldn’t budge and stood by the initial offer despite agreeing to negotiate with his white counterpart. He said he, along with a handful of other recurring cast members, decided to walk away.

“With this information six recurring cast members, along with myself, banded together on Monday, August 30th to pass on Lionsgate’s initial offers. Our stance was to move powerfully as a unit in the negotiation process and, more importantly, to stand on principle because this is not simply a monetary matter. We were all aware of the notorious pay disparities between people of color and our white colleagues on Netflix and Lionsgate shows; so this made it blatantly obvious. However, our collective bargaining power was undermined with side deal offers and lack of transparency. These tactics led to some individuals taking deals before the collective group received a fair and equitable negotiation process.”
He continued and wrote that media companies such as this have publicly stood by the Black community during the uprising of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, but allegedly don’t have the same stance behind the scenes.

See his full statement below.
Lionsgate has since responded and released a statement and said it
“was a purely financial negotiation regarding deal terms. Lionsgate is committed to equal treatment for all talent regardless of race, gender, age or sexual orientation. We are very proud of Dear White People and its place in the national conversation about racial equality and social justice and we look forward to beginning production on its 4th season.”

What do you think about Jeremy Tardy’s claims?

Evans quickly deleted the clip, but it was simply too late, as screenshots immediately hit Twitter sending the site into a frenzy with ample jokes about the mishap.

Evans is currently rumored to be dating actress Lily James. He was also half of one of the internet’s favorite on-again, off-again couples with actress Jenny Slate; the couple finally split — and continued to have nothing but lovely things to say about each other — in March 2018.

Conor McGregor Reportedly Arrested For Alleged Sexual Assault In France; Denies Allegations!
Conor McGregor, through his manager and a spokesperson, denied any allegation of sexual assault during a trip to Italy. The wire service Agence France-Press reported Saturday that McGregor had been taken into custody in Corsica, France, and questioned about a potential sexual assault.
“Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony Mac Gregor was the subject of a hearing by the gendarmerie services,” AFP reported.
McGregor was traveling on his yacht with his fiancée, Dee Devlin. TMZ reported that an outlet in France said the alleged incident occurred in a bar.

McGregor, whom the New York Times twice reported in 2019 was being investigated for an alleged sexual assault in Ireland, vehemently denied he had been involved in the alleged incident in France.
McGregor has had numerous run-ins with the law and has not fought since defeating Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246 on Jan. 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He announced his retirement, but most disregarded it as a negotiating ploy with the UFC. A USADA representative boarded McGregor’s yacht on Friday to give him an anti-doping test.

He is one of the richest athletes in the world and a regular on Forbes’ annual list of highest-paid athletes.
His manager, Audie Attar, released a statement to Yahoo Sports defending McGregor and denying he was involved in a crime.
“I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear: Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday,” Attar said in a statement.

Yahoo Sports reached out to UFC president Dana White for comment, but he could not be immediately reached. White is promoting a fight card Saturday at UFC Apex and also spending time with his friend, President Donald Trump, who is in Las Vegas campaigning.

T.I. Charged by SEC With Promoting Fraudulent Cryptocurrency, Agrees to Settlement!
The Securities and Exchange Commission has charged T.I. with promoting fraudulent initial coin offerings (ICOs) in connection with a company called FLiK. The Atlanta rapper and actor agreed to “pay a $75,000 civil monetary penalty and not participate in offerings or sales of digital-asset securities for at least five years,” according to a press release from the SEC.

The SEC accused T.I. of offering and selling FLiK “tokens” on his social media accounts and encouraging his followers to invest in the FLiK ICO, while also falsely claiming to be a co-owner of the company. The commission also claims T.I. recruited “a celebrity friend” to promote the FLiK ICO on social media, providing copy for the posts. T.I.’s social media manager was also accused of offering and selling FLiK tokens via T.I.’s social media accounts.
The SEC brought charges against four other Atlanta residents, including the film producer Ryan Felton and three others accused of promoting Felton’s fraudulent ICOs. The two companies involved, FLiK and CoinSpark, were also charged.. All but Felton have agreed to settle.

In February, T.I. was removed as a defendant in a 2018 civil suit filed by investors. The suit, which also names Felton and comedian Kevin Hart, is ongoing, currently delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to court documents.

Will Smith and Fresh Prince's OG Aunt Viv Janet Hubert Will Bury the Hatchet for HBO Max!
Here's something we never thought we'd get to say: Will Smith and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's original Aunt Viv Janet Hubert have seemingly buried — or at least paused — their long-standing feud and will reunite for HBO Max's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion. On Thursday, Smith posted a photo of the cast on Instagram from the upcoming special along with a photo of himself and Hubert together, ending all doubts about whether or not this meeting is real.

"Today is exactly 30 YEARS since The @FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted! So we're doin' something for y'all… a for real Banks Family Reunion is comin' soon to @HBOmax!," Smith wrote on Instagram. The reunion special will celebrate the show's 30th anniversary. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air premiered September 10, 1990 on NBC and ran for six seasons.
It's a special moment given that this marks the first time the pair will come face-to-face since Hubert's departure from the show in 1993. Hubert portrayed Vivian Banks for the series' first three seasons before being replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid and has been critical of the cast ever since.
"I know the media hoe Alphonso Ribero has posted his so called reunion photo," Hubert previously said of the cast's 2017 reunion. "Folks keep telling me about it. He was always the ass wipe for Will [Smith]. There will never be a true reunion of the Fresh Prince. I have no interest in seeing any of these people on that kind of level."
HBO Max confirmed that the two actors sat down on Wednesday, Sept. 9 for an "emotional and candid conversation." It looks like these two have finally buried the hatchet.

In addition to Smith and Hubert, the reunion will feature Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is currently streaming in its entirety on HBO Max

Prosecutors Say Tim Norman Believed Nephew Stole $200K From Ms. Robbie Before Murder!
There’s a new revelation in the bizarre case of Tim Norman, the Sweetie Pies star, who is accused of hiring someone to kill his nephew Andre Montgomery.
According to Bossip, prosecutors have presented a different motive, Detective Donald Thurmond took the stand Wednesday and said Montgomery was a suspect in the theft of $200,000 in cash from the home of his grandmother Robbie Montgomery, mother of Tim Norman and owner of the legendary St. Louis restaurant Sweetie Pies.

Originally authorities arrested Norman on federal charges alleging that he conspired to kill his nephew by using an interstate commerce facility (cellphone) in the commission of a plot to hire someone to murder Montgomery. They also accused him of hiring Terica Ellis, an exotic dancer of Memphis, Tennessee. The initial motive pinned on Norman was that he wanted to reap the $450,000 life insurance policy placed on his nephew.

Ellis reportedly told investigators that she knew the theft of the $200k made Norman’s “boys” want to “get up on” Andre, the St. Louis Today news reported.
During Wednesday’s hearing, which was scheduled for Ellis, Detective Thurmond also told the court that Norman had offered Ellis $10,000 to “secure the location” of his nephew the night he was killed.

A third man was also arrested in connection with Andre’s murder; life insurance agent, Waiel “Wally” Yaghnam. Authorities charged Yaghnam, a former producer on rapper Nelly’s “Nellyville” album with one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud for allegedly forging information about Tim Norman’s income.

Norman was involved in a money scandal back in 2017, his mother, Ms. Robbie, sued him for $100 million claiming trademark infringement after Norman used the name for three of his restaurants in the St. Louis area and California.

Naya Rivera Autopsy Report Reveals She Yelled, “Help” Before Drowning!
The Ventura County Medical Examiner has released Naya Rivera’s full autopsy report, and it contains the tragic details of the actress’ death.
The Glee star’s son, Josey, said that before he disappeared into the water, the two counted “1, 2, 3” and jumped off the rented pontoon boat together at Lake Piru, according to the report, which was obtained by People.
After jumping into the lake, the 4-year-old, whom she shared with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, said that she helped him back onto the boat and then disappeared into the lake.

“She helped him onto the boat and then he then heard [Naya] yell ‘help,’ and she put her arm in the air. She then disappeared into the water,” according to the details of the report.
The investigative report also revealed that Rivera, 33, had been prescribed Adderall for anxiety, was taking medication for a sinus infection, and that Rivera used a marijuana vape and smoked about “a pack of cigarettes per week” at the time of her death.
The report also revealed the star suffered from vertigo, of which she had been treated for at Cedars Sinai Hospital prior to her death, which got worse when she was in the water.
The report listed Rivera as being in good health and having “no known history of suicidal ideation or attempt,” and noted that she was a good swimmer.

The official cause of death is accidental drowning.
Rivera’s toxicology report was also released by the medical examiner, which reveals the actress had low-level amounts of amphetamine (Adderall, Dexedrine), diazepam, ethanol, and phentermine, which is an appetite suppressant, in her system, as well as caffeine, at the time of her death. According to the toxicology report, her blood alcohol concentration was 0.016.
Rivera went missing on July 8 while boating with her son. After the rental boat became overdue, employees of the rental company found the boat on the lake with Josey sleeping, alone.

Authorities searched the lake for five days, recovering Rivera’s body on July 13.

‘Candyman’ Is Delayed to 2021!
On Friday, it was announced Universal Pictures was pushing back the release date on director Nia DaCosta‘s Candyman update. An official release date has yet to be locked in, but we do know the movie will now bow in 2021. This is the third time Candyman‘s release date has been delayed following a push from September 25 to October 16. By Saturday morning, DaCosta followed up this news with an official — and very enlightening — statement on the decision to push back the release date of this highly-anticipated “spiritual sequel.”

DaCosta hopped on Twitter in the early hours on Saturday to touch base with her followers and shed light on the decision for the release date push, as reported by Variety. She shared,
“We made Candyman to be seen in theaters. Not just for the spectacle but because the film is about community and stories–how they shape each other, how they shape us. It’s about the collective experience of trauma and joy, suffering and triumph, and the stories we tell around it.”
DaCosta continued her explanation in a second tweet, further enlightening with the following: “We wanted the horror and humanity of Candyman to be experienced in a collective, a community, so we’re pushing Candyman to next year, to ensure that everyone can see the film, in theaters, and share in that experience.”

DaCosta’s Candyman brings the lore introduced in the 1992 original Candyman, which starred Tony Todd and Virginia Madsen, into the 21st century. The screenplay, co-written by DaCosta & Win Rosenfeld and Jordan Peele, follows Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a Chicago-area artist whose work becomes entwined with the Candyman legend, an integral part of the history of the city’s Cabrini-Green projects, and soon takes a frightening hold on his life. In June, DaCosta shared a prologue short about Candyman’s origins which teases the timely relevance of this new story. With all of this in mind, DaCosta’s explanation makes complete sense, especially given the gravity of the subject matter at the heart of Candyman‘s story and the weight of Candyman‘s standing in the horror community as a pivotal work of Black horror.

Candyman will now be released in theaters in 2021.
