The Daily Roundup for May 11

Jermaine Paul Wins "The Voice"
After a long and winding road, Jermaine Paul was announced the victor on NBC's "The Voice" during Tuesday night's finale episode and will walk home receiving a recording contract with Universal Republic Records and $100,000 cash.
The hit singing competition has become one of the America's highest rated television shows in which a group of four celebrity "coaches" including Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green choose contestants, then help them through the weekly singing competition for a live studio audience.
The former Alicia Keys back-up singer was overcome with emotion when announced the winner and performed his rendition of "I Believe I Can Fly." He was a member of Shelton's team and said "Thank you, man, for the opportunity and the chance," adding that Shelton had boosted his confidence and meant more to him than he'd ever know after last night's (May 7) performance. "God gave me you, bro. He gave me you."

MCA's Death & Go-Go Icon Chuck Brown's Illness Stark Reminders That Legends Are Mortal
When the news of the passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch was confirmed by all the major outlets, fans of the Beastie Boys were shocked into the reality that music legends will not live forever. Taking for granted that our favorite artists and musicians will live on by way of their creations, it is easy to disregard their mortality.
Along with that staggering news, this week the Washington Post reported that the “Godfather of Go-Go,” Chuck Brown, has been hospitalized with a two-month pneumonia illness, and we were reminded that many formidable musical icons were suddenly human. These instances serve as painful reminders that that life is fragile.
For any Washington DC native, becoming a fan of the Funk subgenre of Go-Go music was nearly a rite of passage. When Brown's seminal hit “Bustin' Loose” hit the airwaves in 1978, none could fathom that Chuck would rise to the status he enjoys today. Some years later after Chuck refined his Go-Go sound to a level still unmatched, many had already viewed this man as a living legend. A slightly built, raspy-voiced man, one would never know that “Chuck Baby” is in his mid-70s, even with his slow gait. As he battles his illness and as his daughter (and band member) KK Brown has urged of his fans, legion of supporters are praying and hopeful that they'll get to hear “Wind Me Up Chuck” once again.

It is a selfish thing to expect our favorites to simply exist to enrich our lives artistically. Like many others, I expected to see the Beasties in their 60s along with other early Def Jam artists rocking out as grandpas and running down all their hits. The same can and should be said for Chuck Brown, because without his signature baritone voice, Go-Go music would simply not be the same. As fans, we all owe a debt to continually appreciate these artists while they're alive and receptive to the adoration. Nothing else will do.
Rest In Peace, MCA. Get better, Chuck Brown.

The Osbournes Debut Baby ‘Pearl’
Baby Pearl is getting an early introduction to the thing all Osbournes love most: the spotlight.
First-time dad Jack Osbourne, his fiancée Lisa Stelly and mom Sharon Osbourne gather around the newborn on the latest cover of Hello! magazine, all beaming with pride at the new bundle of joy.
"People say when you have a kid it's like instant love, but unless you've experienced it, it's impossible to comprehend," the 26-year-old proud papa, the son of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, told the magazine.
"The moment I saw her I felt more love than I'd ever felt for anything. It was the weirdest, most overwhelming thing."
But Osbourne didn't initially have such a positive reaction, he admits.
The reality star-turned-director and Stelly, 26, met at a club and were dating for just three months when she discovered she was pregnant.

"I think I responded with, 'That's interesting,' " he told Hello! "What do you say? If we'd been trying for two years, of course you'd be like 'Awesome!' But we met in May and found out in August."
The couple got engaged last September, and mom Sharon told the magazine that their baby daughter has brought out the best in her son.
"It's incredible to see Jack holding his baby girl, walking around so confidently," she said. "He's very nurturing and he and Lisa are so good together."

LEARN IT: Taj George SLAMS The HATERS And DEFENDS Husband Eddie, Says He DIDN'T Get Caught Doing Anything!
When former NFLer Eddie George was stopped by cops with 21-year old golfer Rachel Connor in his car, folks began speculating that the marriage was on the rocks. Then......we heard NOTHING from Taj. So it's safe to assume she's leaving him right? WRONG!
During a recent radio interview Taj WENT OFF in a profanity laced rant when asked about the alleged event. So why was her husband with a young woman at 2am? First off, Taj revealed that they know her! Rachel is a close family friend and Eddie was simply given a ride home from a charity event. And in Rachel's defense Taj said,

"It was a charity event. What party do you know ends at 9? None. It was nothing going on. The bottom line is this.... we obviously have arrived because we have been a topic one everybody's little blog lately and all I'm saying is, at least get it right."
She added, "There are people who really wanna see you fail but you can't put down a feather....I'm floating."
Alright Taj.
And by the way, Taj says the media frenzy forced them to take their home off the market. But they are doing well and NOT broke.

Set em’ straight gurlfreend!

VH1 Divas To Honor Whitney Houston
The death of late great Whitney Houston in February rocked the music industry to its core. And, as the world at large begins to process and deal with the mammoth loss, the mood is being altered to one of celebration – courtesy of VH1 Divas.

Via Billboard:
VH1 will pay tribute to Whitney Houston for its next installment of ”VH1 Divas,” Billboard has learned. The network will tape the performance in Los Angeles in December, with Houston’s longtime musical director Rickey Minor on board as executive producer. No artists have been confirmed for the tribute to Houston, a three-time performer on “Divas” in 1999, 2002 and 2003.
The tribute has already received the blessing of Houston’s family and her label partners at Sony. “We all felt that if any show could pay tribute to Whitney’s music, it would be ‘Divas,’” VH1 president Tom Calderone tells Billboard. “December felt like enough time where it wouldn’t be sad anymore, you’d want to celebrate her music.”

Kudos to VH1 for recognizing what Whitney meant to that show and meant to the world at large. She may no longer be here in the physical, yet her scroll of classics and The Voice are ever-enduring.
Here’s hoping a fitting line-up of artists are assembled to tribute the diva of all divas. Who would you like to see tribute Whitney?

Usher Raymond Covers Billboard Magazine
Usher is no stranger to topping the Billboard charts, so it’s only right that he would make the cover of Billboard Magazine’s latest issue. Usher knuckled up for the cover of the magazine’s May issue wearing a cobalt blue suede motorcycle jacket and some serious pinky ring bling.
Usher’s cover stance with his fists up is no coincidence, not only is he fighting his way back to the top of the charts, but he is also gearing up to star as Sugar Ray Leonard in the Roberto Duran biopic Hands of Stone, with Gael Garcia Bernal and Robert De Niro. Usher is lined up to perform at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards on May 20th, so his place on the magazine’s cover comes at the perfect time.

In Foolywang News:"Bad Girls Club" Chick Natalie Nunn Got Married To Footballer Jacob Payne?!
Now we must inquire about Natalie Nunn's apparent wedding with a guy named Jacob Payne that went down this past Saturday. Chick talks about every aspect of her life via Twitter and has tried to become relevant in every way possible after her stint on "Bad Girls Club," but apparently we missed her talking about having a man.
Classy. Last weekend, 27-year-old loud and obnoxious reality chick Natalie Nunn, who previously claimed to have dated Chris Brown & Wiz Khalifa and numerous ballers, got married to 21-year-old footballer Jacob Payne. We haven't been able to find out who he plays for--if anyone--yet, but 21? Ok. He listed "football player" on his Twitter page and said "Best day and nite of my life" while tweeting pics from the couple's big day.
Interestingly, these two have only been engaged about 3 or 4 months. And the wedding looks that way. And it's no coicidence, we're sure, that the wedding day was just a couple days before fellow "Bad Girls Club" star Tanisha will premiere her new Oxygen show (tonight) "Tanisha Getting Married." Tanisha also tweeted she was taken aback by Natalie not even inviting her, seeing that Natalie was in her wedding. Oh those competitive bad girls...
I received a press release from the "Bridezillas" show a few days ago saying Natalie would be on it, and we thought it was a joke. But apparently, it's not.
The new season of WE tv’s “Bridezillas” premieres Sunday, June 10, and the "I Run L.A." chick will indeed be cutting up on it as usual. She claims she's not the real diva of the show, her bridal party is.

In the meantime, here's pics from her wedding and after party (since there are red cups in play we doubt this is an actual reception) where video chick Bria Myles and Deiondra Sanders served as bridesmaids:
Bria (Laz Alonzo's on and off girl) and a friend.
The bridesmaids all wore red gowns...and we assume that's the maid of honor in the club look.
Meagan Good randomly popped up and snapped a pic with the bride.
Whose extreme couponing garage is this?
As the couple left their big ceremony, Natalie rocked a white rosette detailed jumpsuit.
Deiondra's on the far left.
Can't tell if this was an actual wedding reception (or actual wedding for that matter) due to the red cup action, but the twosome snapped some post-wedding pics back at home.
Alrighty.

Foolywang material.

Bobby Brown & Fiance’ Alicia Etheridge Set Wedding Date For JUNE!
After being engaged for two-year, Bobby Brown and fiance’ Alicia Etheridge have finally set a date! Bobby announced that his nuptials to Alicia Etheridge will take place in Hawaii the weekend of June 15, where Brown is also set to perform with New Edition.

Congrats!!

In Legal Briefings:
Deion Sanders Wins Temporary Custody Of The Kids
With her arm in a sling and rocking a body-con black & white dress, Pilar Sanders played the sympathy card (but maybe rightfully so) for her court date with Deion Sanders yesterday.
Though both parties were charged with domestic assault after their recent blowout inside their Dallas mansion, the tables are currently turned in favor of Deion.
After 3 days of hearings, State District Judge Ray Wheless gave Hall of Famer Deion temporary custody of the couple's children pending a full custody hearing, and ordered that the children undergo psychological counseling. Wheless also ruled that the injuries to Pilar were a result of Deion defending himself from her assault.
Pilar must remain at least 500 yards from the mansion. The most interesting part of all this, the police detective on the scene says that swollen lip we saw in Pilar's mugshot likely came from her biting it herself.

Tami Roman's Hairy Lawsuit Is OVER!
In other legal news, after "Basketball Wife" Tami Roman was sued by Creme de le Creme hair extensions company for supposedly stealing breaking their contract that called for her to promote their hair extensions on the show. They clam she stole their product and promoted it as her own instead. The two parties have settled in court.
Tami's rep Danielle Robertson issued the following statement:
“Basketball Wives” star, Tami Roman has amicably resolved the lawsuit filed against her back in March of this year. On Friday, May 4th in a US District Court in Houston, TX, Ms. Roman and her lawyers reached an undisclosed agreement with the hair extension company. “The parties reached a decision prior to the judge ruling on the matter”, says Roman’s attorney Katonga L. Wright, Esq. “It was the fastest and most predictable way for both sides to end the dispute and go their separate ways.” Ms. Roman is no longer affiliated with the company and both parties are mutually satisfied.
Now everyone can get back to their weavealicious lives....

David E. Talbert Snags Paula Patton for New Film, ‘Baggage Claim’
Great news for playwright/director David E. Talbert.
He’s snagged actress Paula Patton for the film, Baggage Claim, based off of his 2003 novel. According to Deadline:
Patton will play flight attendant Montana Moore, who at 35 is the oldest woman in her family not married. With her sister tying the knot, Montana and her fellow flight attendants become determined to put a claim check on a husband in 30 days or 30,000 miles.
Talbert got his start in writing and touring films ( like ‘Mr. Right Now’, ‘The Fabric Of A Man’, etc.). He wrote and directed First Sunday for Screen Gems, which was based on his play. His new film, Baggage Claim, will begin shooting in September

DRAMA: Terrell Owens FACES OFF Against Baby Mommas On "Dr. Phil"
Dr. Phil helped Terrell Owens confront his inner demons today on a show where he revealed he didn't have a relationship with his own father and how that has played out with his own kids. And to stir the pot, Dr. Phil let a few of the baby mommas confront him on TV! Get the deets inside.....
Terrell Owens made a brave appearance on "Dr. Phil" today where he was confronted about his parenting skills or LACK thereof by three baby mommas. And to make it even more juicy, the mother of one of the BMs was on there as well as she wasn't having ANY of T.O.

To make it clear, T.O. doesn't seem like the typical deadbeat. Does he call, write or reach out to the kids - No. But, he did pay on time.....when he had the money. Though a few of the women wanted him to spend more time with the kids, the crux of the issue was most of them went from getting $20,000 a month in child support to NOTHING.

We all know T.O. had some financial difficulties so now he's the "Dad" that doesn't come around OR provide support. And the baby mommas were not pleased. At all.
One of the women, Kimber, said T.O. has only seen their daughter 12 times....mind you.....she's 7!
He said, "The thing is, with me traveling back and forth, I don't have a set schedule. Pretty much 90% of the time every time I've reached out it's been a bad time."
T.O. revealed that he had four children with four different women saying, "No, it wasn't a plan. I was irresponsible in that regard." You think?
Then in one shocking moment, T.O. said, "I didn't know who my daddy was until I was 10 or 12. Surprising as it may seem, he was living right across the street."
During a moment of clarity, Dr. Phil told him "You have an opportunity, because it's not too late." He then told the mommas to keep down the drama because, "If you do anything aggressively or passive aggressively . . . to block his relationship with his children . . . trust me, the day will come when it will bite you in an ugly, ugly way."
He added, "...you can't get blood from a turnip" and that: "You guys need to stop these hostilities, because it's your child who's picking up the tab for that."

WATCH:

So how did this end? Well, who knows waht the future holds but at the end of the show, T.O. met two of his daughters and was seen saying, "Have you been to Magic Mountain? Maybe I can take you guys to Magic Mountain. You can ride the roller coaster. I love you"

Well it's Baby steps......

BASKETBALL DRAMA!: “Basketball Wives” Royce Reed Took To Her Blog, and Went IN On Tami Roman!!

Basketball Wives star Royce Reed took to her VH1 blog, and talked about the whole episode from Monday night. Royce this time, didn’t bite her tongue, and let let Tami Roman have it!

Here’s the excerpts:
I was honestly just hoping Kesha didn’t say her skin hurt. Tami seemed as though she was trying to find something to get upset about and she chose a cough. From the way the girls were seated in the car, to laughing and making faces behind Kesha’s back if you take a screen capture from that scene and mine from the van in Spain, it’s almost identical.
I’m not sure what happened to Tami, but this isn’t the woman I’ve gotten to know. To see these women gang up on someone who has done nothing to them is embarrassing. I say ganging up because NO ONE did anything to stop it. If you don’t say anything you then become part of the problem. Who cares if Kesha was scared to get in the ocean with sharks and stingrays, I don’t believe I saw any of your asses in a swimsuit jumping in the water either. How are you going to call someone else scary when at least they put on the attire instead of saying “Oh Hell NO” in confessionals?????

I applaud Suzie and Kesha for appreciating what Tahiti had to offer and attempting to stay drama free. I find it amazing when alcohol is used as liquid courage and an excuse to turn into the HULK. Most times I drink, I get emotional, horny, and just want to dance…..:side-eye: lol. But if you know that drinks cause you to have a temper, why indulge just because everyone else is? The whole scene with Tami and Kesha I shook my head. At some point you have to look at yourself and say “Damn, that wasn’t a good look. I need to change the way I speak to people and handle things because I look crazy.” If you don’t see it, your “so-called” friends have and should tell you the same. Tami, if Evelyn and Shaunie found no problem with Kesha’s questions, it wasn’t up to you to find one. Tami, if you HEARD Kesha said all these things about you, why not call out the person who told you so you can get all three parties together.

I’m sure THAT PERSON was probably sitting at that table. I have an idea of two people who could’ve said it. One is known to talk a lot, and the other is a snake in the grass. If you’re going based off the footage that was shown, Kesha said “I seriously had to just NOT go off…and honestly, like, I could’ve came at Tami and said whatever I wanted to but there’s nothing I could’ve said that would’ve made her look worse than she was making herself look…Tami is like acting a fool” …She never said she wanted to, so why are you asking her to now??? The smirking on the side by Evelyn and Shaunie is a DAMN SHAME. Grown as women talking about a damn position! Grown ass women wanting to fight with no repercussions!I HEARD about what happened in Tahiti but seeing it now is an embarrassment and the sh!t is PISSING ME OFF!!!! GROWN ASS AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN feeding into the stereotype already placed on us…plus two!!!!!!!!
What do you think Chroniclers, was Tami wrong for picking on Kesha??
Meanwhile, (C.B. Fleet Company) Summer's Eve feminine products have reportedly pulled out of both BBW and the upcoming "Ev & Ocho." And Change.org is set to announce a second sponsor who pulled out next week. Is the petition and boycott working?

DESPICABLE: Beastie Boys Slapped With Copyright Infringement Lawsuit One Day After Adam “MCA” Yauch's Death
As the remaining two members of the Beastie Boys mourn the loss of Adam “MCA” Yauch, a new lawsuit has been brought to light. All Hip Hop is reporting that, one day after Yauch's death, Tuf America filed a copyright infringement suit against the trio and their label, Capitol Records, over the unlawful use of music on a total of four songs. The group is accused of illegally using two-track on their 1986 debut, Licensed to Ill, and 1989's, Paul's Boutique.

According to the suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Beastie Boys illegally used the records “Say What” and “Drop the Bomb,” from R&B funk band Trouble Funk. Although they licensed a portion of Trouble Funk's music for “Drop the Bomb,” Tuf America alleges that they used more songs than they paid for. Tuf America also claims that both the Beastie Boys and Capitol Records are still reaping financial benefits from the music, which will likely increase since Yauch's passing. The 47-year-old lost his battle with cancer on May 4 , prompting many in the music industry to publicly send their condolences.

Tuf America is potentially seeking punitive and exemplary damages and has requested that trial date be set in the matter.

SOME Destiny Child Members Reunite in Atlanta
Former Destiny’s Child members Michelle Williams, Latavia Roberson, and Letoya Luckett hooked up while they were all in Atlanta.

This was the first time the original member Latavia Roberson met Michelle after she replaced her after being kicked out of the group, I’m so glad we can all get along.

Will & Jada Pinkett Smith Hit The "Men In Black 3" Premiere In Seoul
They've got SEOUL! And they're super fab. Will Smith and his wife Jada were in South Korea recently for the premiere of Men in Black 3.
Wearing an Armani wideleg jumpsuit, Jada Pinkett Smith was sparkling on the arm of husband Will Smith in Seoul, South Korea for his big Men In Black 3 debut.

Mr. Smith was joined by his co-star Josh Brolin.
During a press conference at the Ritz-Carlton before the premiere, Will told the crowd, “This is the first movie that I’ve completed a triology, playing a character three times. It feels like home. It’s like a warm, family reunion.”
Sweet!
Great to see Will showing love to the fans and showcasing his "indestructible marriage."

And after Seoul......
The Smiths flew off to Tokyo for the next premiere. Fab life!
MIB: III premieres in the US May 25th.
