The Daily Buzz For Feb 3

Ed Sheeran: Taylor Swift and I ‘Take It a Bit Far’ Competitively Because We Weren’t Popular in School
Thanks, haters! In a new interview with British GQ, Ed Sheeran credits high school classmates with helping him and BFF Taylor Swift succeed in the music world.

“There’s an underdog element to it,” explained the 25-year-old British crooner, who will release his third studio album, Divide, on March 3. “Taylor was never the popular kid in school. I was never the popular kid in school. Then you get to the point when you become the most popular kid in school — and we both take it a bit too far.”
In other words, the pair — who toured together in 2013 — aren’t done racking up multi-platinum albums, Grammy awards (they have 12 between them!) or hit singles. Sheeran recently released “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” while Swift, 27, partnered with Zayn Malik to create “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” for Fifty Shades Darker.

“She wants to be the biggest female artist in the world and I want to be the biggest male artist in the world,” said Sheeran, who is dating high school pal Cherry Seaborn. “It also comes from always being told that you can’t do something and being like, ‘F--k you. I can.’”
The singer-songwriter has already identified his next challenge: besting 10-time Grammy winner Adele, whose latest record, 25, was one of the bestselling albums in the world and earned her five more Grammy nominations.

“Adele is the one person who’s sold more records than me in the past 10 years,” noted Sheeran. “She’s the only person I need to sell more records than. That’s a big f--king feat because her last album sold 20 million. But if I don’t set her as the benchmark then I’m selling myself short.”

#RHoA: Shereé Whitfield on Kenya Moore's Drama with Matt Jordan: "I Don't Wish That on Anyone"
Tensions between Shereé Whitfield and Kenya Moore reached new heights this season on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, escalating from tiffs over their homes, Chateau Shereé and Moore Manor, to a heated discussion that involved allegations of being in abusive relationships — and whether Kenya did anything to provoke then-boyfriend Matt Jordan, who has had a few outbursts this season. Following the conversation airing earlier this season, Kenya headed to Instagram to say that Shereé used "#alternativefacts" during the argument, adding, "No woman should be blamed for a man being violent or accused of provoking a man."

Now, Shereé has offered up her side of the events to Bravo’s The Daily Dish.
"Now let's be clear, I said because she in this whole meeting [about Porsha's anger management said] that she's afraid of Porsha; she does provoke people. Kenya has provoked a lot of the ladies," Shereé explained. "I'm not saying that she provoked Matt, but maybe you should worry about why he's breaking your windows instead of sitting here claiming that you're afraid of Porsha ... Kenya getting up from the table, following her — you can't keep poking the bear. But on the Matt situation, now that has nothing to do with me saying she provoked him. I'm saying, 'You should find out why, but I do know in this group you have provoked a lot of people.'"

Still, Shereé notes that abuse is not a topic that should be taken or discussed lightly. "You know you never want to see a woman go through abuse. I've been a victim to it and so many other women have, so even when she came to me [and said], 'Well, you've had someone beat you,' ... that was so inappropriate," she said. "It was inappropriate and it was selfish. And it was shows that she really has no compassion to say something like that, because women get abused all the time and that's nothing that you make fun of or say in a joking manner or try to hurt somebody with. Watching her and Matt, it was... I don't wish that on anyone."

The network gave no airdate for Jackson’s episode will air, saying only it will be “later this season.” The 18-year-old model and aspiring actress has become a favorite of the tabloid media and has a growing social media presence.

New Music: Faith Evans & The Notorious B.I.G. feat. Snoop Dogg – ‘When We Party’
Just one day after celebrating “NYC” with Jadakiss, Faith Evans heads to the West Coast with Snoop Dogg for “When We Party,” another single from her Notorious B.I.G. joint project, The King & I.
Repurposing Biggie’s Golden State anthem “Going Back to Cali,” Faith adds her flare to a new beat with a SoCal bounce. “When we party on the West Coast,” she sings. “Drinkin’ and smokin’ all night long.”

Blending with B.I.G.’s classic verses, Tha Doggfather comes through with his Long Beach flavor. “Y’all know I’m from the West,” he raps. “I’m the King, to be exact.”
The Notorious B.I.G. and Tha D-O-Double-G had an interesting relationship. On “Somebody’s Gotta Die” off Life After Death, Biggie rapped about “dreamin’ about…how to sell records like Snoop,” showing some camaraderie with him despite a feud with Tupac.

In a 2013 interview with “Sway in the Morning,” Snoop opened up about their bond. “Biggie was my homeboy,” he said. “He was a real, real friend of mine.” However, the two were eventually caught in the midst of the ‘Pac feud.
After Tupac Shakur’s death in 1996, Snoop said he spoke with Biggie about their relationship. “We kicked it for about an hour,” Snoop added. “He was like, ‘I love ‘Pac.’ We just had an intimate conversation about how he never hated Tupac, how he loved Tupac…That was the last time I seen him.” Biggie died in an unsolved shooting in 1997.

“NYC” and “When We Party” are slated to appear on The King & I, a joint project featuring Faith Evans and her late husband, Biggie.

Hip Hop News: BET Orders ‘Street Dreams’ Pilot Based on Nas’ Life
Nas’ life story may be coming to BET. Fresh off the success of its New Edition miniseries, the network has ordered a pilot for “Street Dreams,” a series based on the hip-hop icon’s life, according to Deadline.

Set in New York in the early ’90s, the hour-long series was named after Nas’ 1996 single off It Was Written, and chronicles the ascent of Nas, a young man from the Queensbridge projects who goes on to become a superstar rapper.

Two years ago, the series was picked up by the now defunct Xbox Entertainment Studios as a half-hour comedy. It’s unclear whether the format will change or stay the same.
I am so humbled by the opportunity BET has given me to share my story with the world. The early ‘90s in Queens, New York: It was the best of times, the worst of times and the realest of times for me and my peoples. From artists like Eric B, B.I.G., Roxanne Shante, to Producers like Large Professor and Premo to places like The Bridge to quarter waters to Jesus pieces, Street Dreams will touch it all. We are looking for me—as in, we are looking to cast a talented actor who can play the 16 year old me. Is that YOU? I need someone who has what it takes to hold my projects down. If so, goto the link in my bio👆🏾
“Rush” creator Jonathan Levine, who also grew up in New York in the ’90s, is set to write the script and direct the pilot. He will join Nas as an executive producer. Nas’ manager Anthony Saleh and filmmakers Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell are also slated to executive produce the show.

Nas is no stranger to film and television. Last year, he was an executive producer for “The Get Down” on Netflix and The Land, which starred Erykah Badu and Machine Gun Kelly.

Nas has a big year ahead of him. Aside from this series, he’s planning to release the follow-up to 2012’s Life Is Good. Last year, he teased fans with DJ Khaled’s Major Key single “Nas Album Done.”

Oh? Coachella Producers in the Dark Over Beyonce’s Pregnancy. Will she perform?
If you missed Coachella announced Beyonce was suppose to perform at the event.
Yesterday, Beyonce announced on the gram she is pregnant with twins.
There’s a problem Coachella had idea that Bey was far along in her pregnancy.

According to reports, Beyonce‘s pregnancy announcement was news to some of the top dogs at AEG Live … the company that is producing Coachella.
Sources connected with AEG Live tell us … at least some of the top execs had no idea Bey was expecting, and it now makes her headlining gig at the festival problematic.

It seems Beyonce is somewhere in the vicinity of 4, maybe 5 months pregnant. Coachella is slated for April, so she’ll be well along and obviously very big, given she’s having twins. Stay Tuned on this one!

Beyonce also releases more photos since her Twins pregnancy announcement. Take a look see.

Oops, she did it again! Britney Spears suffers an EPIC wardrobe malfunction during Las Vegas show
Her Las Vegas Piece Of Me residency has been a huge draw, selling out the AXIS at Planet Hollywood many a night.
But Britney Spears gave fans more than what they bargained for on Wednesday night, as she suffered a wardrobe malfunction on-stage.
In the middle of her set the 35-year-old Oop!... I Did It Again singer's racy green leotard slipped to one side, exposing her bare breast.
Sashaying and gyrating around the stage in Sin City, the chart-topping wonder appeared to be at her very best.
However, even the most seasoned performers can fall prey to bad luck, and that certainly seemed to be the case with Britney when one of her dancer's mistakenly dislodged her outfit.
Caught on camera by some of her eagle-eyed fans in the audience, the singer can be seen prancing from one part of the stage to the other.
Something goes awry mid-song though, and unbeknownst to Britney her costume is pulled to one side - revealing her bare breast.
One fan managed to capture the exact moment, and it appears that the wardrobe malfunction can be blamed on one of her dancer's poor hand-eye coordination.
However, being the seasoned pro that she is, the Toxic chart-topper powered on and ignore the blunder.

Brtiney's fans chose not to take any sly digs at the star, and instead laughed the incident off as the incident picked up traction on social media.
And though Britney has bounced back with her career, having scored a top-ten comeback with 2015's Glory, the singer's rollercoaster years are set to be brought to life this year.

Lifetime's Britney Ever After, which will focus on the launch of her career and romances with Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline, is set to be released this month.
The latest trailer for the film shows teases both of Brtiney's most famous romances with steamy scenes.

Natasha Bassett plays the singer in the biopic, due out later this month, opposite Clayton Chitty (Federline) and Nathan Keyes (Timberlake).

Kim Kardashian Met With French Authorities to Testify In Paris Robbery Case
A brief update on the ongoing saga of Kim Kardashian’s robbery: she met with the judge and the attorneys in the case on Wednesday in New York, where she reportedly told her side of the story.
TMZ reports that Kim was “chitchatting with the judge” in a hotel room in a manner that I assume was less casual than “chitchatting” suggests. TMZ’s sources claim that she was meeting wit them in order to identify the two men who held her at gunpoint in her hotel room in Paris on October 3, stole a shitload of expensive jewelry and traumatized her to the point where she took a three month break from social media and the public eye.

Why didn’t Kim go to Paris? Why did the judge and the attorneys come to her? The French legal system sounds a lot more relaxed than ours, if I’m being frank: in criminal cases, judges are allowed to travel to meet the alleged victims wherever they may be in order to hear their testimony and the alleged victims don’t have to undergo cross-examination. That sounds like it’s way less stressful for the victim, but also like a French criminal case might take a really long time? I’m not a lawyer nor am I an expert on the French legal system, but I’m just saying.

Godspeed, Kim. Hope this gets resolved soon.

Delaware DOC employee found dead at Vaughn in hostage situation in Smyrna
The prison siege at Smyrna ended Thursday 18 hours after it began with longtime corrections officer Sgt. Steven Floyd dead, another injured and a new administration rocked by crisis weeks after taking control.

Floyd, a 16-year veteran of the Delaware Department of Correction, was found dead Thursday morning following a hostage situation that spanned most of Wednesday and through the night at Vaughn Correctional Center.
Robert M. Coupe, secretary of the state Department of Safety and Homeland Security, said at a press conference late Thursday morning that they could not say the exact manner of Floyd's death. The 47-year-old man's body has been turned over to the state Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
Coupe detailed how inmates stalled tactical teams for hours while they used water, turned back on as part of their demands, to fill metal foot lockers available for purchase inside the prison to build a wall to block entrances. This blockade stopped police teams from entering the prison sooner and required calls to other agencies for a vehicle to knock down the wall.
A Department of Correction backhoe, driven by a DOC employee, was ultimately used to knock down the walls into the prison and gain access to hostages and inmates in Building C, which was under inmate control from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until daybreak Thursday morning, he said. A female counselor who had also been taken hostage was found alert and safe inside, Coupe said, noting that some inmates shielded her from injury during the hostage situation.
When asked how a situation like this occurred in the prison, Coupe stressed the dangers associated with the job of a correctional officer..
“Prisons are very dangerous,” he said. “Our officers train. Our officers work together ... but every day it’s dangerous.”
All 120 inmates inside Building C, where the hostage situation occurred, are actively considered suspects in the investigation, Coupe said. While some came out of the building on their own, Coupe said investigators have not determined who was responsible for the hostage situation and that it was unclear whether some inmates came out voluntarily or early to avoid blame.

The building, arranged in the shape of a T with three narrow hallways and a center hub area, is used to house men transitioning between security levels, Coupe said. Some of the inmates did have sharp objects, but Coupe said he was not briefed on what those were Thursday morning.
Gov. John Carney reiterated that a full investigation will be carried out to determine how and what prompted this attack, and how the state will ensure this situation will never happen again.

“We will leave no stone unturned,” he said at the press conference. “We will bring every resource that we have to sort out this issue and this problem to make sure that correctional facilities are secure and that the employees who work there are safe, recognizing that this is very dangerous work.”
Earlier Thursday morning, the Department of Correction released a statement that said the officer was found unresponsive shortly after police made entry into the building and was pronounced dead at 5:29 a.m.
The other hostage, who Coupe said was a female counselor, was safely rescued and has been released following evaluation and treatment at a local hospital.

Gov. John Carney said flags would be flown at half-staff in honor of Floyd.
"My prayers all day yesterday were that this event would end with a different result. But it didn't," he said at the press conference. "So today, all of us mourn the family of Sgt. Floyd. And we also stand today in solidarity of all correctional employees and law enforcement."
Carney released the following statement earlier Thursday morning in regard to the employee death.

"I'm praying hard for the fallen officer's family," he said. "This serves as a tragic reminder that members of law enforcement risk their lives every day on behalf of the people of Delaware. We will stand by the fallen officer's family and fellow law enforcement officers during what is an extremely difficult time."
"This was a long and agonizing situation," he continued. "I want to thank all those involved in responding, including officers at the Department of Correction and the Delaware State Police, as well as our federal partners. Our priority now will be to determine what happened and how this happened. We will hold accountable anyone who was responsible. And we will make whatever changes are necessary to ensure nothing like it ever happens again."

Jayme Gravell, a spokeswoman with the DOC, said the prison continued to operate under emergency procedures Thursday morning.
Security has been heavy Thursday morning with correction officers stationed along the prison's perimeter.

This is a developing story.

Travis Scott Fall Through Huge Hole In The Middle Of The Stage At Drake Concert

By all accounts, Travis Scott puts on one hell of a show. Unfortunately, he also seems to have a strange habit of falling off stages and his latest topple may have cost Drake a small fortune.
Drake and Young Thug thought it would be a great idea to bring out La Flame at the London stop of Drizzy’s Boy Meets World tour at the O2 arena on Wednesday, and though the crowd was thrilled, things went a little haywire. Unfamiliar with the arena, Travis apparently totally missed the gigantic hole in the middle of the stage. He walked right into it.

Drake helped him out of the hole immediately and Travis kept right on performing his latest single “Goosebumps.” That’s comendable, and everything might have been okay… except that fall apparently broke Drake’s giant, inflatable globe that serves as the centerpiece of his stage, and ruined his show.
Drake announced several times throughout the concert that he’d set up refunds for everybody in attendance, and began calling it a free show, but he continued his set giving the fans the performance they came for to the best of his ability.
Eventually he signed off by telling the crowd “London, England, I love you, I hope you enjoyed the free show,” before a mic drop and that was that. So those in attendance might want to send a courtesy thank you to Travis for all of their returned euros. As for Young Thug, well he took to Instagram to accept fault for the snafu, even though he didn’t really do anything but bring his buddy around.
