The Daily Buzz For Feb 15

Madonna Rocks a Sheer Top on ‘Vogue Italia’ Cover!
The past 24 hours of Madonna’s life serve as proof that she is still out here to stir up trouble.
The 58-year-old singer posed in a sheer top for the cover of Vogue Italia’s Polaroid issue, which she shared on Instagram on Monday (Feb. 13, 2017). Beneath the nipple-baring photo, Madonna credited fashion photographer Steven Klein and Franca Sozzani, the late Editor in Chief of Italian Vogue, who passed away in December at the age of 66.
“God Bless you Franca Sozanni 🙏🏻 not only for what you did for the World of Fashion but for encouraging strong Independent Women to take risks,” Madonna wrote in the caption.
Later on Monday, Madonna was spotted sitting front row next to Kylie Jenner and Tyga at Philipp Plein’s New York Fashion Week runway collection
Madonna, who recently adopted twins girls from Malawi, thanked Plein for donating to the charity Raising Malawi.
“Well done on your first show in the Big Apple,” she said to Plein in her salute.

Tyrese and Lee Daniels Address Upcoming Controversial Transgender Episode of #STAR
The upcoming episode of STAR will ruffle a few feathers, both in a good and bad manner. Wednesday’s installment will tackle issues surrounding transgender persons, and if you’re familiar with Lee Daniel’s work, you can suspect that it will be eye-opening and uncomfortable to many.
“This has never been shot, done, or put on television,” Tyrese says on a conference call. “It would be considered an exorcism of some sort where we have this transgender woman, name Cotton, being played by Amaiya…she actually went through this in real life.”

We will have to wait until the episode airs to know what “this” means, but according to Tyrese, who has made several guest appearances on sitcoms as himself before his TV debut in STAR, “I had no idea that I was going to end up doing something so uncomfortable.”

Tyrese plays Pastor Harris on the show; he is single with three kids after going through “a nasty divorce from my ex-wife.” He ends up mentoring and taking care of a woman by the name of Carlotta, played by Queen Latifah, and in the mix of all their interactions, they fall for each other.

While Pastor Harris was getting to know Carlotta, she maintained a secret life, one being her daughter Cotton, who is really her son, who became a woman.
“I have never interacted, directly communicated or befriended a transgender,” says Tyrese. “It’s not the kind of circles I travel in; I am a heterosexual male. Although I have worked with plenty of Gay and Lesbian people.”
He continued: “I’m one of those people that’s a huge advocate of people living their lives according to what makes them happy. If you live your life within people’s opinion, it’s the beginning of the end.”

Tyrese admits that he doesn’t have a problem with transgenders and that his first communication with a transgender came on the show. He says the upcoming episode will give nontransgender people a better understanding of that world and culture.
“It was uncomfortable to shoot it, and it’s going to be uncomfortable for people to watch it, and I think it’s going to give people empathy and a heart for a world that they probably never cared about at all,” says Tyrese.
“I think that no matter what I do, it’s going to be looked at as polarizing,” Lee Daniels adds. “That’s the world that I tell story in. The truth is polarizing; it’s unsettling.”
Comparing the episode to the trash can scene on his hit TV show Empire, Daniel adds, “This is that defining moment that we as African Americans don’t address.”

Tune into Fox on Wednesday night at 9pm EST for the POWERFUL and CONTROVERSIAL episode of #STAR.

CONDOLENCES: Tom Cruise’s Mom Mary Lee South Passes Away
Tom Cruise is mourning the passing of his mother, Mary Lee South, who died peacefully in her sleep last week after years of coping with health issues. She was 80.
Mary’s memorial service was held at an undisclosed Church of Scientology over the weekend. Tom and his three sisters, Lee Ann Devette, Marian Henry, and Cass Mapother were all in attendance.

Last October, Tom Cruise talked about his mother’s unwavering support saying:
I know that she is just obviously very proud, and kind of I guess, just amazed, you know, because you talk about something, you dream about something, and she knows I used to work jobs so I could make money and I could go to the movies. I would make movies one day, and for it to happen, and on the level that it is happening…I know she just is really proud.

Our condolences to Tom and his family.

“The storytelling and message that ‘Hidden Figures’ carries is endearing and inspiring, and based on the remarkable community support this movie has received, we have witnessed first-hand the powerful impact it is having on audiences,” said Elizabeth Frank, EVP and Chief Content & Programming Officer, AMC. “We’re honored to partner with Fox to help further the reach of this message to moviegoers across the country.”

Under Armour Stock Drops After Athletes, Celebs Call Out Ceo Over Trump Support
Under Armour*Under Armour came under fire last week after founder, Kevin Plank, declared his support for #45 (Donald Trump). But after several of the company’s sponsored athletes spoke out in opposition to his remarks — including Dwayne Johnson, Misty Copeland and Steph Curry —  there’s been a decline in the company’s stock.

As HipHollywood.com reports, Under Armour has been a struggle stock for the past month, but after Plank suggested during an interview with CNBC that #45 is “a real asset for the country,” the shares began to fluctuate.

“To have such a pro-business president is something that is a real asset for the country,” Plank said in part. “People can really grab that opportunity.”
“Every mantra that I live by, [Under Armour shares] that,” Curry said in an interview with The Mercury News. “And so when you blur the lines of business and politics, there is an opportunity for things to get muddy and that’s what happened with KP’s comment.”

Copeland posted a statement on her Instagram to distance herself from the company. Plank’s praise of #45 does not represent her beliefs, as the ballerina wrote:

I have always appreciated the great support and platform that Under Armour has given me to represent my community, gender, and career on the world stage. However, I strongly disagree with Kevin Plank’s recent comments in support of Trump as recently reported. Those of you who have supported and followed my career know that the one topic I’ve never backed away from speaking openly about is the importance of diversity and inclusion. It is imperative to me that my partners and sponsors share this belief. I have spoken at length with Kevin privately about the matter, but as someone who takes my responsibility as a role model very seriously, it is important to me that he, and UA, take public action to clearly communicate and reflect our common values in order for us to effectively continue to work towards our shared goal of trying to motivate ALL people to be their best selves.

It’s unclear whether or not Copeland will continue her work with Under Armour . The CEO’s comments have led many to announce they’re boycotting UA products.

Dwayne Johnson also offered a lengthy response to Plank, “I appreciate and welcome the feedback from people who disagree (and agree) with Kevin Plank’s words on CNBC, but these are neither my words, nor my beliefs,” he wrote on IG. “His words were divisive and lacking in perspective. Inadvertently creating a situation where the personal political opinions of UA’s partners and its employees were overshadowed by the comments of its CEO.”

Rapper Jeezy Accused of Defrauding Promoter: You owe me $130k!
Jeezy (real name Jay Jenkins) is being accused of defrauding a promoter who paid him $30,000 to perform in Houston, ditching the show at the last minute for an album-release party in Atlanta, the promoter claims in court. Darryl Austin is suing the 39-year-old Atlanta rapper in Federal Court.

Austin claims in his lawsuit that in 2016 he agreed to pay Jeezy $60,000 for an hour-long show at the Arena Theatre in Houston, on Dec. 9, 2016. In the complaint, he says that after he paid Jeezy a $30,000 deposit, rented the venue, bought radio ads and set up ticket sales, the rapper decided he didn’t want to rap at the theater and would not refund the deposit, even after he was told thousands of tickets had already been sold. The complaint states,

Thereafter, representatives for defendant, Jeezy, started asking plaintiff to pay more for the performance, in the amount of $80,000. Feeling cornered and in distress, plaintiff agreed to pay more money for the performance. However, at the last minute, defendant Jeezy, decided to attend an album release party in Atlanta for his new album and nix the December 9, 2016 performance in Houston.
Austin says that on online comments, Jeezy then “blamed everything on the plaintiff for why he did not perform”, responding to messages from frustrated fans who bought tickets to the show.

He wants more than $100,000 in compensatory and punitive damages for breach of contract, fraud, conversion, detrimental reliance and tortious interference, and he wants his $30,000 deposit back.
