#MAGFAB: Bridgerton Star Jonathan Bailey for FLAUNT Magazine

“Bridgerton” Star Jonathan Bailey covers the latest issue of Flaunt magazine photographed by Jason Hetherington and styled by Michael Miller.

How did you get into acting in the first place? What made you think about it?

I don’t know if there was necessarily a thought, but I was a dancer in the local village hall. And then the teacher got approached by the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) for kids to be in A Christmas Carol, and I got cast as Tiny Tim. I went to the local church near where I lived and sang “Where Is Love” for a lady who casts for the RSC, and that was that.

I think you’re at the forefront of all of that really, aren’t you? Especially because it’s a high profile part in a high profile TV series that’s hugely popular and massive, even in America. You’re probably one of the first actors who is playing a straight part, but it’s very open about your own sexuality that you are not straight.

You know, there’s streets in London where one side of the street, everyone will know someone who’s gay and they’re really accepting. And the other side of the street, you don’t mention it. So the idea of reaching the whole of America is interesting to see how that plays out. But, my God, do I feel like if there’s ever a show to be in to do that, it’s this. It’s robust and sumptuous. The idea that you could do something that is somehow opening doors.

#FINALFOUR: Legendary ‘Coach K’ and Duke has been Eliminated By Arch-Rival UNC North Carolina In Final Game Of Career

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski’s remarkable career came to thrilling and sudden close Saturday night after Caleb Love made a key 3-pointer and three late free throws to lift archrival North Carolina to a thrill-a-minute 81-77 victory over the Blue Devils.

This was the 258th, most consequential and maybe, just maybe, the very best meeting between these teams, whose arenas are separated by a scant 11 miles down in Tobacco Road.

The Tar Heels (29-9), of all teams, pinned the 368th and final loss on the 75-year-old Coach K, exactly four weeks after they ruined the going-away party in his final home game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

That loss hurt. This one stopped the coach’s last-gasp, storybook run one win away from a title game and a chance at his sixth championship. When it was over, after playing through the nip-and-tuck stretch run without a timeout, Krzyzewski walked calmly to halfcourt and shook the hand of Carolina’s rookie coach, Hubert Davis.

On Monday, Carolina will play Kansas for the title. The Jayhawks beat Villanova 81-65 earlier in the undercard.

Mo’Nique & Lee Daniels End Feud, He Apologizes Publicly On Stage: I’m Sorry For Hurting You

Mo’Nique and Lee Daniels have officially ended their feud, After not speaking for 13 years, the Oscar-winning Precious star is working with director Lee Daniels to replace Octavia Spencer in a new Netflix film called Demon House.

Over the weekend, the pair solidified their reconciliation publicly. The comedian/actress brought Daniels on stage during her comedy event. He told Mo’Nique in front of a packed crowd:

“[It took me] a long time to realize [this but] I am so sorry for hurting you in any way that I did. Y’all, she was my best friend — my best friend. Y’all think that Precious was just … That was God working through both of us And we’re gonna f–king do it again. I love you. I love you.”

Mo’Nique last worked with Daniels in the 2009 film Precious that brought her the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

The pair had a falling out with the comedian calling out Daniels, along with Oprah Winfrey on multiple occasions.

In short, she accused Daniels, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry of blackballing her because she would not promote the film during awards season.

At the time, Mo’Nique saud that promoting the film wasn’t a part of her contract and she didn’t want to spend additional time away from her family.

Because of this, the actress and the director allegedly didn’t speak for 13 years. Nonetheless, they’ll be working together on this new project.

SNL’s Michael Che Knocks Jada Pinkett Smith in Fierce Chris Rock Defense

“Can we stop pretending everybody knew Jada had alopecia?” the “Weekend Update” anchor asked, adding, “I’m tired of people putting their insecurities on our joke intentions.”

NBC

With his stand-up tour in New Jersey this weekend, it must have been tempting for Chris Rock to drop by his old stomping grounds to address what went down with Will Smith at the Oscars just six days ago. But instead, it was left to “Weekend Update” co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che to come to his defense. And they held nothing back.

“Intelligence officials are saying that Vladimir Putin is being misinformed by his advisers about how badly the Russian military is performing in Ukraine,” Jost began, misdirecting viewers, “which is kind of like Will Smith’s agent telling him, ‘You crushed it at the Oscars!’”

Jost, who is married to Smith’s fellow A-lister Scarlett Johansson, then joked that the incident “was a disgraceful act that sets a terrible precedent for having to defend your wife at awards shows.”

“During his acceptance speech Will Smith said, ‘Love will make you do crazy things,’” Che added. “You know what else makes you do crazy things? Crazy! But I understand where Will’s coming from. I mean, you can’t expect him to sit there and watch another man jump all over his wife… without signing an NDA.”

Che was even more pointed when he asked, “Can we stop pretending everybody knew Jada had alopecia? As much as we heard about Jada and Will’s personal lives, you can’t expect us to retain everything. It’s like Kanye saying, ‘Don’t act like y’all didn’t know I had psoriasis.’”

“Just selfishly as a comedian I’m tired of people putting their insecurities on our joke intentions,” he continued. “I mean, I can’t make a joke about it being cold outside without somebody yelling back, ‘Stop making fun of my small penis!’”

And finally, Che highlighted the fact that Chris Rock “has been very public about his non-verbal learning disorder, which means it’s hard for him to understand non-verbal signals.”

“Sort of like how when he saw an angry Will Smith charging toward him,” he explained, “instead of moving out of the way, he put both his hands behind his back, smiled and said, ‘Uh oh.’”

Ariana Grande Pledges $1.5 Million To Fight Against Anti-Transgender Legislation

Ariana Grande has pledged to match up to $1.5 million in donations to LGBTQ advocacy groups to help counter the wave of anti-trans bills circulating through state legislatures.

via: Uproxx: There have been multiple examples of transphobic legislation that have been passed across the United States. For example, Texas and Arizona have both passed their own variations of bills that impede on the rights of transgender children. As a result, there has been an increased fight to make sure that basic rights for transgender people are preserved across the country. One example comes from Ariana Grande who recently teamed with Pledge, a charity-centric fundraising platform, to launch the Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund.

Grande says that the fund was created “to support organizations providing direct services and advocating for the rights of trans youth.” The fund was also launched on March 31 which was this year’s International Transgender Day Of Visibility. Grande has promised to match all donations, up to $1.5 million, made to the Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund. All of the money raised through it will be split between 19 organizations, with many offering special services to queer and transgender people in different states across the country. It includes Equality Florida, One Iowa, the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance, and the Tennessee Equality Project.

“Right now, there are hundreds of bills pending in state legislatures across the United States that target trans youth and aim to curb their rights,” Grande said in a statement about the new fund. “The impact of fighting these anti-trans bills and policies is felt all year by trans people, their families and loved ones.”

Donations to the Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund can be made here. If you live in the United States, a donation can be made by texting “PLEDGE” to 707070.

Eddie Murphy reportedly in talks to play Godfather of Funk George Clinton in upcoming biopic

According to Deadline, Eddie Murphy is in talks to play at George Clinton in a forthcoming biopic. He’s will also be handling executive producer duties alongside Davis Entertainment’s John Davis, Catherine Davis, and John Fox.

Back in September, Murphy locked in a three-picture deal with Amazon Studios, which followed the success of Coming 2 America. It’s presumed that this project, if green-lighted, would be the first to come from that deal.

For the uninitiated, George Clinton is known by many as the “Godfather of Funk,” and has become one of the most pivotal, groundbreaking artists of all time — both as a solo talent and as the frontman of his bands Parliament and Funkadelic. His music is a massive influence in hip hop, particularly in regards to West Coast icons like Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. OutKast, Redman, and the Wu-Tang Clan have also utilized Clinton’s music for some of their biggest hits.

In addition to the aforementioned venture, Murphy is set to star in the forthcoming comedy film You People, which was written by Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill. Set to be released on Netflix, the ensemble cast also includes Bryan Greenberg, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lauren London, Sam Jay, Molly Gordon, Mike Epps, Nia Long, Deon Cole, Rhea Perlman, and David Duchovny.

Following an iconic stand-up career, Murphy made huge waves in Hollywood with films like the Beverly Hills Cop series, the Nutty Professor series, and Dreamgirls, the last of which earned Murphy several awards and nominations for his role as James “Thunder” Early. He’s also found some success in music, releasing the albums How Could It Be, So Happy, and Love’s Alright in the 80’s and 90’s — he’s also collaborated with the likes of Rick James, Shabba Ranks, and Michael Jackson.

Netflix Reportedly Pauses Will Smith Action Film After Oscars Slap

Netflix has reportedly pumped the breaks on Will Smith’s feature film, Fast and Loose.

Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that the streaming giant halted development on the action flick earlier this week, after Smith smacked Chris Rock during Oscars’ live telecast. The outlet reports the film had hit a major roadblock in the days before the infamous slap, as its original director, David Leitch (Deadpool 2), had decided to leave the project in favor of Universal’s Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling.

Leitch’s decision left producers scrambling for a replacement; however, following the events at the 94th Academy Awards, Netflix decided to put Fast and Loose on pause. The streamer, which previously connected with Smith on 2017’s Bright, has yet to publicly confirm the report.

Fast and Loose tells the story of a crime boss named John Riley (Smith), who suffers memory loss after getting attacked. As he slowly puts the pieces back together, Riley discovers he has been living a double life as a kingpin and a CIA agent. Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber were tapped to write the script.

An insider also says Smith was given 40 pages of the Bad Boys 4 prior to the 94th Academy Awards, but Sony has also decided to halt development in wake of the slap. Smith’s next film, Emancipation, is currently in post-production and was set to premiere sometime this year; however, Apple TV+ has yet to announce an official release date.

On Friday, Smith announced his resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, and called his actions “shocking, painful, and inexcusable.” The Academy’s Board of Governors accepted his resignation, but confirmed they will continue disciplinary proceedings against the newly minted Oscar winner.

“We have received and accepted Mr. Will Smith’s immediate resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,” Academy president David Rubin said in a statement. “We will continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for violations of the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, in advance of our next scheduled board meeting on April 18.”

Teen Suspected Arrested in Texas Deputy’s Fatal Shooting

Authorities have arrested a third suspect in the fatal shooting of an off-duty Texas officer.

According to KHOU11, 17-year-old Fredrick Tardy was taken into custody Friday on a capital murder charge. Police say the shooting took place Thursday night just outside of Houston, as Darren Almendarez—a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office—was shopping for groceries with his wife. As the couple was leaving the store, Almendarez reportedly saw multiple people underneath his truck and told his wife to find safety. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the three men were attempting to steal the catalytic converter from the deputy’s vehicle.

Moments after Almendarez approached the suspects, a shootout ensued. Authorities say two of the suspects were wounded, but managed to flee the scene in another car. Almendarez was also shot during the incident and was transported to Houston Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Almendarez had been with the sheriff’s office for 23 years and worked in the auto theft division.

Tamar Braxton Celebrates Late Sister Traci's Birthday

Tamar Braxton is celebrating her late sister Traci. Saturday marked Traci's first birthday after she died at the age of 50 on March 12 due to cancer.

"Someone lied and said 'it gets easier.' It doesn't. You just continue to live without," Tamar, 45, wrote in the caption of her Instagram tribute for her sister.

"On your last birthday, we all were so hopeful and optimistic and said it wasn't going to be your last one. We were right because Today and EVERY birthday we will celebrate you just like we said we would," the "All the Way Home" singer continued. "Our sisterly bond is unbreakable"

In addition to Tamar, Traci is also survived by sisters Towanda, Trina, and Toni Braxton. Their family dynamic was well documented on their WE tv series Braxton Family Values alongside their mother Evelyn Braxton.

Kanye West's rep says reports of him 'going away to get help' in wake of Kim Kardashian split are 'simply untrue'

Reports that Kanye West is seeking help following the recent conflict with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson are false,.

Earlier this week, a “source close to the Kardashians” explained to Page Six that West told his former spouse he is “going away to get help.”

“For the sake of the kids, Kanye has told Kim he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and he will go away somewhere to get better,” claimed the source.

However, West’s new Head of Media and Partnerships, Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee, told Yahoo in an April 1 statement that this narrative is not accurate.

"Ye monitors all headlines pertaining to him and his family daily. Most all are being fed to media by ‘sources close to the Kardashians,’ which have been creating a false narrative that not only is untrue but further compromises his goal of creating a healthy environment for the beautiful children he shares with Kim,” Lee said. “He’s been focused on taking care of himself, being a present and loving father and a creative genius well before all the false headlines we’ve seen as recent.”

Lee added that while Ye does not respond to many headlines, the story about the conversation with Kim is “simply untrue.”

“If you don’t hear it from his mouth, read it from his social media, or get it from a press release he approved it's simply false," Lee concluded.

West has received backlash in recent weeks for mocking social media posts he has shared about Davidson, who Kardashian began dating late last year after appearing with the comedian on Saturday Night Live. West also released a video for his song “Eazy” in which he buried a claymation version of Davidson alive.

Earlier this week, Kardashian and West both appeared at their son Saint’s soccer game in Los Angeles.

The KKW Beauty founder recently appeared on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show and explained how she wants a healthy co-parenting relationship with the Donda artist.

“I think that’s just who I am and I always saw such a good example in my mom and my dad in their relationship, so I’m always just hopeful and no matter what goes on, it’s the father of my kids,” Kardashian said. “I’ll always be protective — I always want my kids to just see the best of the best. So I just try to — as hard as it can be sometimes — I do try to ignore it and just try to do whatever’s best for the kids.”

GOP Senate Candidate Herschel Walker Accused Of Exaggerating His Academic Achievements For Years

For some time now, GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker has continued to claim an inspiring story: that he graduated in the top 1% of his class at the University of Georgia.

He’s told his “story” while giving motivational speeches over the years and has repeated it as recently as 2017, according to a review of his speeches by CNN’s KFile.

There’s just one problem: apparently, it is not true. Walker, who is a candidate in the Republican primary race for US Senate in Georgia, admitted that he did not graduate from Georgia following a report by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that the false claim was listed on his campaign website.

But a CNN KFile review confirmed that Walker himself has been repeating the false claim for years. Walker’s comments from 2017, and many others made over the years, the show concluded that the former football star has repeatedly misrepresented his academic credentials.

“And all of sudden I started going to the library, getting books, standing in front of a mirror reading to myself,” Walker said during a 2017 speech. “So that Herschel that all the kids said was retarded become valedictorian of his class. Graduated University of Georgia in the top 1% of his class.”

He also claimed during another interview in 2017.

“I also was in the top 1% of my graduating class of college,” he told Sirius XM radio.

Walker did not graduate from Georgia, however, he was a star running back while. And apparently, he had maintained a B average while at the school, which doesn’t place him In the top 1% either.

Walker himself even told The Chicago Tribune in 1985 that he maintained a 3.0 before his grades began to drop. He then left to play professional football before graduating. Although he repeatedly said he would return to obtain his degree, he never did.

Walker is endorsed by former President Donald Trump and is expected to run against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock this coming November.

Walker’s site has been revised site, and a review by CNN’s KFile found another little-noticed claim that was removed. There was a claim that Walker graduated valedictorian of his high school, but the website now claims Walker graduated “top of his class.”

While claims that Walker was a top student while in high school and was the president of the Beta Club — which he maintained an “A” average to be in — CNN’s KFile found no evidence that he was the class valedictorian.

Walker has mentioned many times during his speeches over the years, including in the 2017 speech, claiming he graduated in the top 1% of his college class, and in his 2008 autobiography, he claimed he was class valedictorian at Johnson County High School.

“If I’m proud of anything I did in my high school career, it’s what I did in the classroom that I reflect on and relish the most. I did more than just shed the “stupid” label placed on me as a result of my speech impediment. I shed it, erased it, and rewrote it with the titles: Beta Club president and class valedictorian,” wrote Walker in his 2008 “Breaking Free: My Life with Dissociative Identity Disorder.”

Walker’s campaign did not explain why it removed the claim that Walker was valedictorian from his website. When repeatedly asked if the campaign still backs the since-removed valedictorian claim from the website, Walker’s campaign manager Scott Paradise sent the same statement three times.

“Multiple reporters wrote about this 40 years ago. If you have a problem with what they wrote, please contact them. If you have a difficult time getting in touch with them, ask yourself why you are asking such a stupid question,” said Paradise to CNN.

It is unknown when Walker started saying he graduated from Georgia, however, press accounts began listing him as returning to get his degree as early as 1983, which was after he left to join the United States Football League. Walker joined the New Jersey Generals, which at the time was owned by then-businessman Trump.

In the past, Walker repeatedly told interviewers he had gone back to Georgia during the off-season to take classes. There is a 1986 article in The Dallas Morning News on Walker’s football career that stated he obtained his degree in criminal justice and also has a quote from him talking about his degree.

“Getting a degree is one of the paths you can take on the way to becoming an FBI man,” Walker said. “Of course, my life is not going in that direction right now, but I think police work, especially the FBI, would be my choice if I wasn’t a pro football player.”

Following his book release, Walker told a YouTube show interview in 2008, and told the interviewer he went back to get his college degree from the University of Georgia

“You know it was said whether I leave or stay in school. It came up that I leave — and what was weird about that is people said, ‘Why would you leave college so early?’ And that’s like guys, ‘I went back to get my degree which is what you’re supposed to do.'”

Sheesh!

Todrick Hall Sued For $60k For Unpaid Back Rent

One thing you gotta pay is that rent! “Celebrity Big Brother” alum Todrick Hall is being sued by landlords for $60,000 in unpaid rent.

Hall, 36, rented a $30,000 a month five-bedroom, eight-bathroom house in Sherman Oaks, Calif., but failed on his agreement to pay his rent in February and March, according to the civil complaint filed Tuesday, Page Six reported.

Owners Avi and Orna Lavian say they served the YouTuber with a pay-or-quit notice on March 3.

In addition to the $60,000, the plaintiffs have also requested attorney fees, forfeiture of the agreement, damages of $1,000 per day, and “all other relief the court deems just and reasonable,” Us Weekly reported.

Early last year, Hall posted a YouTube video of himself showing off the house which has a private movie theater, an infinity pool, an elevator, a walk-in closet, and many other luxurious amenities.

However, in that same video, he claimed he had purchased the home, so it remains unclear whether it is the same one he is being sued over.

The news of his legal woes follows his turbulent stint on Season 3 of “Celebrity Big Brother.”

Before the finale, houseguests, including Todd Bridges, Lamar Odom, and Teddi Mellencamp turned on Hall and say he backstabbed them to get to the end.

Hall went on to gain only one vote, which came from Cynthia Bailey and lost the game to martial artist Miesha Tate, who received the other seven votes.

Amid the backlash, he canceled press interviews and later explained that he felt the need to “protect myself and my mental health.”
