#NewMusic from Josh Levi Happily Leaves A Toxic Relationship Behind In ‘VICES’

On his new single “VICES,” Houston native Josh Levi has zero trouble doing so. He testifies how truly refreshing it can feel to cut ties with an ex and not look back.

Levi opens the track by confessing that it has not been as challenging as one might think to go without communicating with a former love. It’s apparent in his lyrics that his former love interest brought more toxicity into his life than he’d like to admit, and he is happy to finally be rid of it.

“I been / Putting down my vices / And I’m having a good time alone / Losing you / Lowered all of the prices / It’s so affordable to be alone,” he croons on the chorus. It’s evident Josh is willing to sacrifice the cost of this past relationship, realizing there is no price you can put on mental health, sanity, peace and self-love.

Josh Levi’s “VICES” is a reminder that sometimes it’s not always best to try and get that old thing back; sometimes it’s best to drop it and leave it where it lays.

Levi has been seeing an immense amount of success since his appearance on season 3 of The X Factor at the age of 16 back in 2013. He has since landed a deal with Issa Rae’s all audio everywhere company Raedio in August of last year and contributed the song “What’s The Use” to Insecure‘s season 5 soundtrack. Most recently, Josh’s voiced one of the members of the fictional animated boy band 4*Town in the Disney and Pixar movie Turning Red.

“VICES” is the first single from Josh Levi’s anticipated EP Disc Two, the follow-up to his 2020 EP Disc One. Stream or download the single on all major music platforms.

Robin Roberts Says ‘I Was Afraid That I Might Be Outed’ As She Reflects On 2012 Obama Interview About Marriage Equality

Good Morning America host Robin Roberts is opening up about a time when she was afraid to interview former President Barack Obama about marriage equality.

Nene Leakes Claims Bravo Used Her Tax Debt To Keep Her Silent About Racist Work Environment

Robin Roberts, 61, recently shared concerns she had surrounding a previous interview that took place with former President Barack Obama, 60, in 2012. The sit-down with the 44th president came after his historic announcement that he supported same-sex marriage. Roberts revealed that at the time she was afraid of being outed. She explained,

“There was a possibility that [Obama] would change his stance on marriage equality. I had not been public yet about being gay, and I was afraid that I might be outed, that people might wonder — ‘Why is she the one interviewing the president when he’s making this change in his stance?’”

However, she later decided it would be a big opportunity for her to conduct the interview, and agreed to take it on.  Roberts continued,

“It was kind of like a scene out of ‘Moonstruck.’ [I thought] ‘Snap out of it; Robin, what are you thinking? It’s not about you. This man is going to impact countless lives.’ And it was at that moment that I said, ‘I’m gonna stop letting fear keep me from the things that I want to do.”

One year after her interview with Barack Obama, Roberts came out as part of the LGBTQ community and has been in a relationship with partner Amber Laign since 2005. Roberts went on to say she was thankful for the interview with Obama.

“I’m so grateful that I did that [interview with Obama]. Shortly thereafter is when on Instagram, or on social media, I talked about Amber and all that fear I had of being a Christian, that people would look at me differently. But] I was embraced. Again, if we just stop and think about how many times we let fear keep us on the sidelines and I’m so, so very glad that that’s no longer the case. I am not gonna get everything that I want in life, and I’m not going to accomplish everything, but by golly, fear is not going to be the reason why I’m not.”

Robin Roberts also revealed that she’s been emotionally challenged while being a caretaker for Laign who is currently battling breast cancer. Laign was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and underwent surgery earlier this year. Roberts explained,

“I’m in a puddle every time I think about what Amber’s going through.”

Roberts is now reminding others to get screened regularly, noting that Amber Laign put off going to the doctor during the pandemic.

Family of Missouri boy who fell off ride sues Florida amusement park in his death

The family of a Missouri teenager who died last month after he slid off an amusement park ride in Orlando, Florida, filed a wrongful death lawsuit Monday.

Tyre Sampson, 14, died March 24 after plunging from the Free Fall attraction at ICON Park.

His father and mother, Yarnell Sampson and Nekia Dodd, are named as plaintiffs in the 65-page lawsuit filed in Orange County's 9th Judicial Circuit Court.

Named as defendants were Orlando Eagle Drop Slingshot LLC, which owns the Free Fall, and ICON Park. A representative with ICON Park could not be reached immediately Monday.

Also named as a defendant is Funtime Handels GMBH and Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GMBH, an Austrian company that designed and manufactured the ride, NBC News affiliate WESH reported. No representative with the organization could be reached for comment.

Attorneys for the Slingshot group released a statement on Monday that did not directly address the lawsuit, but said the company is cooperating with state investigators.

“We reiterate that all protocols, procedures and safety measures provided by the manufacturer of the ride were followed," the statement said. "We look forward to working with the Florida legislature to implement change in the industry and we are also supportive of ... the ‘Tyre Sampson Bill’ to prevent a tragic accident like this from ever happening again.”

The suit said the teen's life was unnecessarily cut short.

“Tyre was ... an honor-roll student and football player. Despite his prowess on the football field, he was known as a kind-hearted person who cared about others. Tyre had a long and prosperous life in front of him that was cut short by this tragic event.”o signs marking height and weight restrictions."

"ICON DEFENDANTS owed a duty to its customers, including Plaintiffs’ decedent, TYRE SAMPSON, to exercise reasonable care in operating, managing, maintaining, designing, inspecting, constructing, testing, fixing, and/or controlling the amusement park rides located on its premises, including the subject Free Fall amusement park ride," the lawsuit stated.

Defendants also failed to train "employees, contractors, and agents as to the proper and safe height and weight restrictions for the Free Fall amusement park ride," the suit said.

The lawsuit also alleged, that while most rides similar to the Free Fall are equipped with a harness and seat belt, the Free Fall ride did not have seat belts.

The approximate cost to add $22 seat belts to the ride's 30 seats is $660, the suit said.

Attorney Ben Crump, who represents Tyre’s father in the suit, said in a statement Monday the ride and seat manufacturer failed to properly implement safety features. Tyre fell at least a hundred feet onto hard pavement after he was ejected from the ride, the statement said.

“The defendants in Tyre’s case showed negligence in a multitude of ways,” Crump said. “One of the most glaring examples was failing to provide a $22 seatbelt on a ride that cost several million dollars to construct."

Russia-Ukraine war: U.S. says Putin ‘failing’ to reach war goals, looks for Moscow to be weakened militarily

Nikki Fried, commissioner of the state’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, announced April 18 during a media briefing that operator “mis-adjustments” had contributed to Tyre’s death.

“Manual adjustments had been made to the sensor for the seat in question that allowed the harness-to-restraint opening to be almost double that of the normal restraint-opening range,” Fried said.

“These mis-adjustments allowed the safety lights to illuminate, improperly satisfying the ride’s electronic safety mechanisms that allowed the ride to operate even though Mr. Sampson was not properly secured in the seat,” she said.

Determining if operator error was a factor is only the initial stage of the investigation, Fried said, noting there are many other factors that may have potentially contributed. The investigation remains ongoing, she said.

A field report from Quest Engineering and Failure Analysis Inc. in Tallahassee said Tyre slipped through a gap between the seat and an over-the-shoulder harness that lowers over riders’ torsos.

The report said there were no mechanical failures; instead, evidence showed screws had been tightened and then loosened, and sensors had been moved on his seat. The engineering firm also found that of the 30 seats on the ride, 27 showed an average restraint opening of 3.33 inches. However, two seats showed restraint openings of more than 6.5 inches, including the seat where Tyre sat, which was 7.19 inches.

“The effective restraint opening will expand by several inches when forced,” the report said. “During our investigation, two individuals were positioned in a seat with an opening ranging from 6 to 10 inches. Both individuals were able to slip through the restraint opening without any assistance. The individuals were 6’3 to 6’5 tall and weighed between 200 and 300 pounds.”

Officials called the Free Fall ride an “immediate serious danger to the public health” in an order released to the public this month.

The order formally closed the ride on March 25, the day after the teen fell to his death from the free-standing drop tower in front of horrified onlookers.

When it opened in December, the Free Fall’s nearly 430-foot drop was billed as the highest in the world. The ride was inspected for the first time on Dec. 20. No deficiencies were found, and the ride passed its inspection, officials said. The ride was closed after Tyre's death.

Photos and video posted online apparently show that Tyre was not fully buckled in, with a safety harness sitting far above those of the other riders.

In video of the incident obtained by NBC News, a voice is heard asking: “Why doesn’t this have the little clicky click to it, like the seat belt?”

As the ride lifts off, a voice from the ground is heard shouting: “Hey, did you check your seat belt on the left side? Seat belt! Seat belt!”

Tyre was visiting Florida for spring break with his football team. He was a straight-A student who “had a bright future ahead” and was never in trouble, his uncle Carl Sampson said.

Lil Durk paused concert after a man reportedly attempted to hit a woman

Lil Durk paused a recent show to make it clear that he does not tolerate domestic violence of any sorts.

During a recent stop on his 7220 Tour in Connecticut, the Chicago native abruptly stopped the show after noticing an altercation occurring within the crowd.

“I just seen the most craziest shit in the crowd man,” said the “Dis Aint What U Want” emcee in the middle of his performance. “I just seen a nigga tryna fight a girl man. Slow down bro, you know? Where he at? Where he at who just tried to fight a girl man?”

Just minutes after searching for the person, Durk was able to make eye contact with him and continued to call him out while onstage.

“Aye bro, why you tryna fight girls bro?” he asked. “I should come over there and fuck you up. Yeah. We really like that for sure. I’d make your ass apologize right now. Deadass and you a hoe. You a hoe.”

This is not the first time that Durk has paused one of his shows to address something going on in the crowd.Recently he made another mid-performance halt after he believed that someone had passed out at his show in Phoenix, Arizona.

It turns out that the situation was a bit more bizarre than someone losing conscious.

“Somebody passed out?” is the question Durk posed to the crowd. “Huh? She pissed? She peed? what the fuck? I heard everything, but I ain’t never heard that shit, man. I don’t know what to do in this situation.”

This time, Durk may have gotten the  incident all wrong again. After the video of him calling out the man for allegedly attempting to put his hands on a woman made its way to The Shade Room, a man who claims that he was the alleged perpetrator hopped into the comments to clear his name.

According to the man, he was simply trying to protect the woman from getting jumped.

Jill Scott Shuts Down Twitter User Who Compared Her to Lizzo

Jill Scott shut down a recent conversation on Twitter that compared her to singer Lizzo.

It all started when pro-Black conservative Charrise Lane tweeted a side-by-side photo comparison of Scott and Lizzo. She captioned the pic: “Your size isn’t the reason Men won’t date you. It’s the level of class you have. For instance, let’s compare Jill Scott to Lizzo. Men, which one would you date?”

And with that — it wasn’t long before Jilly from Philly caught word of the comments under Lane’s post and responded as well. Check out the original tweet below.

Scott replied to Lane directly with a gif of Kevin Hart that simply said “Stop That!”.

Lane’s post comes after Lizzo showed her bare arse in a short video promoting her new shapewear line called Yitty.

The singer shared a clip on social media in which she is seen wearing a revealing two-piece in black from her garments collection. Per PEOPLE, the barely-there outfit features “a classic bra top and high-waisted leggings with both hip and derrière cut-outs.”

We previously reported, per @PaperMagazine, that Lizzo’s new shapewear line was named after her childhood nickname. YITTY aims to provide undergarment support to women of all shapes and sizes. Ranging from sizes XS to 6X, Lizzo explained her concept behind launching YITTY.

“Instead of thinking about size in this linear way, we’re thinking about it on a spectrum where everyone is included. It’s not high, it’s not low. It’s not big, it’s not small. It’s just your size. I was constantly being told through TV and magazines that my body wasn’t good enough. And, in order to be considered ‘acceptable’ I had to inflict some sort of pain upon it to fit into an archetype of beauty,” she said.

Lane said in a tweet, “Yeah sure as a performer, perform as raunchy as you want, whatever, but going out in broad daylight with your cheeks out is another level of coocoo”.

She added, “Size does matter to an extent lol but you gotta know how to wear it too. If you’re plus size, make it look good because there will be someone out there for you.”

After catching heat from Twitter users over her opinion about Lizzo and Scott, Lane responded in a video shared on her YouTube account

Melissa Lucio’s Execution Halted 2 Days Before Scheduled Lethal Injection So New Evidence Can Be Examined

Just two days before her scheduled death by lethal injection, a Texas court has halted Melissa Lucio’s execution for the death of her 2-year-old daughter.

Per the Texas Tribune, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals halted the execution, which was planned for Wednesday. The case has been remanded to the trial court, which means there’s potential for her to get a retrial that could find her innocent in the death of her daughter, Mariah Alvarez. Lucio’s case will now go to a lower court so that her lawyers can present new evidence that they claim proves her innocence.

“I thank God for my life,” said Lucio in a statement. “I have always trusted in Him. I am grateful the Court has given me the chance to live and prove my innocence. Mariah is in my heart today and always. I am grateful to have more days to be a mother to my children and a grandmother to my grandchildren. I will use my time to help bring them to Christ. I am deeply grateful to everyone who prayed for me and spoke out on my behalf.”

In 2008, Lucio was convicted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, who she told police fell down the stairs. Her family, legal team, and other supporters have said she maintained her innocence until armed interrogators coerced her into making a false confession. Her lawyers have suggested that she was given an unfair trial, during which a medical examiner provided allegedly false evidence. The Supreme Court declined to review the case last year, with the Texas attorney general’s office pointing to the autopsy of her daughter. They said the autopsy ruled that Mariah died from “blunt force head trauma.”

Kim Kardashian, who has routinely shared support in protesting Lucio’s execution, celebrated the good news on Twitter. “Best news ever!!!” tweeted Kim on Monday. “Melissa Lucio has been on death row for over 14 years for her daughter’s death that was a tragic accident. She is getting a new trial on her case and has been granted a stay of execution by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.”

Lucio’s son John spoke with TMZ earlier this month to thank Kim for her support. “When I shared with my mother about Kim Kardashian supporting her and advocating for her, she was just shocked and couldn’t believe it,” John said, adding Melissa is “just in awe” and that Kim “being an advocate for her has really lifted her spirits.”

Joe Gorga storms off set after drama at ‘RHONJ’ reunion: ‘I quit’

It seems blood isn’t always thicker than water for Joe Gorga and Teresa Giudice.

Joe storms off the set of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” Season 12 reunion in a new trailer for the show just days after Page Six exclusively reported on the drama.

“I’m done. F–k you people,” he says while leaving the taping, which was hosted by Andy Cohen.

He adds, “You know what? I quit.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, Joe is seen arguing with Teresa backstage.

“I wish you would f–king tell Margaret [Josephs] to shut the f–k up,” she yells, before accusing her brother and his wife, Melissa Gorga of “talking about my f–king boyfriend.”

“You know what? Be a sister once in a while,” Joe then tells Teresa.

Although they didn’t include why Joe stormed off the set in the trailer, we previously reported that he gets upset during a heated discussion about his tense relationship with his 21-year-old niece, Gia Giudice, with whom he butted heads last season.

Also in the trailer, Melissa calls out her sister-in-law over the fact she won’t be a bridesmaid in her upcoming wedding to fiancé Luis Ruelas.

Teresa and Ruelas got engaged in October 2021, just one year after they met and just two months after she finalized her divorce from Joe Giudice.

“You remember who’s been here through all your s–t,” Melissa says to Teresa in the clip.

Cohen also confronts Ruelas about his controversial past, asking, “There’s road rage incidents, slashed a girlfriend’s tyre, physical abuse in front of kids. Is any of it true?”

Ruelas has notably faced several claims, including that he is “sex-obsessed,” was abusive in past relationships and has legal troubles over allegedly improper business practices.

The accusations have been a major talking point throughout the season, and will seemingly come to a head during the reunion taping.

Part 1 is set to air on May 3, followed by Part 2 on May 10, and Part 3 on May 17 at 8/7c.

The “RHONJ” season finale airs on April 26.

Chopper of MTV’s “Making The Band” Arrested in Maryland on Sex Trafficking Charges

Chopper, a former star of MTV’s “Making The Band,” has been arrested for sex trafficking in Maryland. Authorities are accusing him of being a pimp.

After being arrested earlier this month, the ex- Da Band member was sent to Las Vegas to face the charges.

An undercover detective posing as a sex worker says Chopper DMed them on Instagram with an offer to make money through prostitution.

When the authorities searched his account, it revealed several posts related to prostitution and pimping, where he flaunted his wealth and made references to being a pimp. In one photo of him on a plane with a phone, the caption read: “Sending em,” using a money bag and crown emoji.

According to the documents, the undercover agent initiated an investigation into Chopper after noticing indications of a possible sex trafficking organization on social media.

In a phone call with the undercover detective, Chopper bragged about traveling and having seven homes across the country, including one in Las Vegas, while warning the undercover that Sin City was not a safe place to do business.

Soon after passing his test, the undercover agent said that Chopper welcomed them to the “team” and “stable.”

Afterward, the undercover officer stated that Chopper became aggressive and ordered them to pack their bags and head to the airport to join his “stable” in Charlotte, N.C.  The officer stalled by saying they were too scared to leave home, so Chopper demanded a $2,000 fee to complete the trip.

According to the undercover agent, all social media posts, direct messages, phone calls, and fee demands are enough evidence to charge Chopper with felony sex trafficking.

Black Woman Finally Awarded Valedictorian Title Almost 40 Years After She Graduated

A Black woman was named valedictorian almost 40 years after graduating from her Illinois high school as “Top Student,” which she shared with a white student.

Tracey Meares, 55, was finally granted the honor after a screening of the documentary No Title For Tracey, which sheds light on her story. The title was awarded to her by the superintendent of Springfield Public Schools District 186.

“We have seen that high school experiences can have a profound, lifelong impact. It was an honor to have Tracey here and a privilege to learn from such an accomplished alumna,” superintendent of the Springfield Public Schools District 186, Jennifer Gill, said.

Meares was set to be the first Black valedictorian, typically awarded to the student with the top grades, at her graduation in 1984. Instead, she was forced to share the title of Top Student with the white student whose grades would have earned them the salutatorian title.

Meares was “upset and angry” at the time and believes she was not granted valedictorian due to her skin color. Now, Meares is powerful and confident. She went on to become a highly successful professor at Yale Law School. She became the first Black woman to earn tenure at the prestigious school.

“I hope by telling the story I can make others understand and hopefully grow,” Meares told CNN. She says making the documentary has given her a broader understanding of racism, which she hopes does the same for the audience.

New Mexico sheriff releases video of Alec Baldwin rehearsing with gun on 'Rust' set

-A New Mexico county sheriff on Monday released video of actor Alec Baldwin rehearsing with an old-west style revolver on the set of the film "Rust" before the gun went off in his hand, killing a cinematographer.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza also made public crime scene photos and videotaped interviews with cast members of "Rust," including Baldwin, but said a formal decision on criminal charges would depend on further forensic work.

"Various components of the investigation remain outstanding, including FBI firearm and ballistic forensics along with DNA and latent fingerprint analysis, (coroner's) findings and the analysis of Mr. Alec Baldwin's phone data extracted by Suffolk County Sheriff's investigators," Mendoza said in a written statement.

The state of New Mexico last week fined Rust Movie Productions the maximum amount possible, $137,000, for what it called "willful" safety lapses leading to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Hutchins, 42, was killed during filming in October when the revolver Baldwin was holding fired a live round that struck her in the chest and lodged in the shoulder of director Joel Souza. Souza survived the gunshot wound.

Baldwin has denied responsibility for Hutchins' death and said live rounds should never have been allowed onto the set of the Western film at Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico.

The footage released on Monday, with no accompanying sound, shows Baldwin in costume as an old west gunslinger and practicing with what appears to be the gun that went off in his hand, killing Halyna.

Separate video shows the actor being questioned by officers, both at the scene of the shooting and in a police station.

Baldwin, a producer on the film, has been named in several lawsuits filed in connection with Hutchins' death, including one by her husband, Matthew.

The 64-year-old actor has argued in court papers that an indemnification clause in his contract shields him from personal liability.
