#MAGFAB: Zendaya Covers W Magazine’s Directors Issue

The fourth and final cover of W Magazine Volume 2, The Directors Issue, features the incomparable, larger than life, Emmy Award-winning, Zendaya, directed by three-time Academy Award-nominated director, Denis Villeneuve. Now in its fourth iteration, The Directors Issue celebrates some of the greatest and most talked about directors in film this year. Inspired by David Bowie in “The Man Who Fell to Earth” and how to play with time, not space, Villeneuve asked Zendaya to portray a visitor from the future in an out of-this-world photo production for his first Magazine cover shoot ever!

Zendaya recalls feeling nervous before shooting with TimothΓ©e Chalamet: “I had just gotten my wisdom teeth taken out…My biggest fear was that my mouth would be vile, and then I would have to do a scene with TimothΓ©e where we have to be really close, and he would smell my dry socket breath.”

Zendaya explains how she is able to relinquish her desire to feel in control when acting: “As a Virgo, I hate not being in control of things, and spontaneity is difficult for me in real life…It’s funny, because that’s why I love acting so much. It’s the one space in which I can feel safe being spontaneous, because I’m not myself; I’m someone else. There are no consequences.”

Zendaya on what attracted her to Dune: “Walking in other people’s shoes is my job…So when you have this beautiful meeting of escapism, other realms, dimensions, planets, futurist times, but then you can also exist as a human being who’s just going through life and trying to survive and exist [trailing off]…It’s so hard to find the heart in something really, really massive. And there’s no person better at that than Denis.”

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Photographed by Jack Davison, Written by Brooke Marine, Styled by Law Roach.

“We are not like we were before the ‘girls trip’. Again, I will always have love in my heart for Kenya. I love Kenya..but we are not where we used to be..”

“reciprocity is like a big word for me okay give back the energy that you receive.”

Kenya Moore spoke on her friendship with Cynthia Bailey with TheJasmineBrand and explains she thought they got over their issues.

“I’m not sure what happened honestly. There was a moment during the filming where she just felt like you know she had gotten into it with some of the other ladies or over a situation and I wasn’t like stepping up but I’m like no. When you watch it back, you will see I stepped up plenty. So it was like you know we had that but I think we got over it but then you know sometimes people don’t really get over things and it just takes them more time.”

What are your thoughts on Cynthia’s comments?

#HipHopNews: NaS Being Sued For Sharing Photo Of Himself & 2PAC On Instagram

An infamous photo of Nas and 2Pac from 1993 has landed the Queensbridge rapper in federal court.

According to Radar, noted photographer Al Pereira has named Nas in a lawsuit, claiming he shared Pereira’s photo of him, Pac and Redman outside of Club Amazon in 1993 without permission or licensing the work. Per court documents, Nas re-uploaded the photo to his personal Instagram account in 2020, three years after Pereira registered copyright for it.

Pereira would file his suit in February, and in his eyes, the worth of the photo diminished after Nas posted it on Instagram. He’s suing for damages plus an injunction against Nas for using his work.

The lawsuit against Nas isn’t Pereira’s first regarding his work. In 2017, he sued Kylie and Kendall Jenner for unlawful use of photographs he took of Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. The Jenners attempted to use the photos as part of a clothing line.

In an interview with Culture Crush, Vikki Tobak, creator of Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop, recalled the moment she discovered the photo of a young Nas, Pac and Redman as well as The Notorious B.I.G.

“We uncovered an Al Pereira photo that’s a very infamous photo of Biggie, Redman, and Tupac together,” she said. “And also on that contact sheet, when we were going through it, there was a strip of images of Tupac and Nas. It was already funny, when Al tells the story of some “big guy” trying to get into his photo of Tupac and Redman, and that it turned out to be Biggie Smalls himself before he was signed.

“So on top of that, it turns out there had never been a photo of Tupac and Nas together. Al never realized it was on the contact sheet because at the time he took it, Nas wasn’t famous at all. It was in 1993, and Nas’s first album didn’t come out until 1994. He was just some kid, recording and making his way, and ruining the shot. And Al, being the kind of photographer that he is, was like “I’m going to get the photos of the people that I can sell to magazines, and that is Tupac and Biggie.” So that photo, when we uncovered it, it meant a lot to Nas, because it also had one of his closest friends, who ended up passing away a few years after the photo was taken, in the photo with him.”

WNBA Player Brittney Griner Detained In Russia On Drug Charges

WNBA player Brittney Griner was arrested on drug charges in Russia in February and seems to still be detained in the country.

The Russian Federal Customs Service issued a statement on Saturday saying that a United States citizen who is a gold-medal-winning basketball player was detained in Sheremetyevo Airport near Moscow last month after customs workers said they found vapes containing cannabis oil in her luggage.

Multiple Russian news outlets, including TASS and Lenta.ru, later identified the basketball player as Griner. Additionally, a video released by the customs service appeared to be Griner, The New York Times reported.

The statement said officials have opened a criminal drug smuggling case against the athlete. The offense carries a penalty of five to 10 years in prison.

Griner, 31, is a center for the Phoenix Mercury and won gold medals with the U.S. women’s national basketball team in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics.

“We are aware of and are closely monitoring the situation with Brittney Griner in Russia,” the Phoenix Mercury said in a statement. “We remain in constant contact with her family, her representation, the WNBA and NBA. We love and support Brittney and at this time our main concern is her safety, physical and mental health, and her safe return home.”

Griner’s agent, Lindsay Kagawa Colas, told the Times she could not comment “on the specifics” of the case but she is “in close contact with her, her legal representation in Russia, her family, her teams” and the WNBA and NBA, and all were working to “get her home.”

Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, posted on Instagram thanking fans for their support. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me regarding my wife’s safe return from Russia. ... Please honor our privacy as we continue to work on getting my wife home safely.”

For several years, Griner has played for the Russian basketball team UMMC Ekaterinburg during the U.S. off season. WNBA players often play in Russia, where the pay is better, when they are not competing for their American teams.

The announcement about Griner comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine continues to escalate and Russia faces harsh sanctions from the West. As tensions mount between Russia and the United States, the Times noted that Griner’s arrest may be an attempt to generate leverage for a prisoner exchange.

Sherri Shepherd Wants Wendy Williams As A Guest On New Talk Show

Sherri Shepherd would love to have Wendy Williams on as a guest when she begins production of her own talk show

“The View” alum added she’s “so thankful” for Williams after it was announced that she will become the permanent guest host of Williams’ show.

“I’m so thankful to Wendy for letting me fill in for her and letting me fill the gap to support her as all the other co-hosts have also done,” Shepherd told Deadline. “I’m thankful because if it wasn’t for Wendy the eyes wouldn’t have been on me. I’m so thankful to her. We’re all praying for her.”

The comedienne, 54, began filling in for Williams, 57, on “The Wendy Williams Show” last year, while Williams dealt with various health issues. Earlier this month Page Six reported that “The Sex Lives of College Girls” star would be the permanent fill-in, but the door is being left ajar in case Williams is able to return.

She has been battling the effects of Graves’ disease and other undisclosed health issues for months, sparking concern from worried fans and friends.

Last week Williams’ rep issued a statement saying that Williams “understands” why Shepherd has been called in to replace her.

“She, more than anyone, understands the reality of syndicated television — you can’t go to the marketplace and sell a show that’s the ‘Maybe Wendy Show,'” the statement read in part.

Shepherd also explained that she hasn’t spoken to Williams directly.

“It’s not like everybody thinks that in Hollywood, we all have each other’s phone numbers,” she said. “Wendy knows me because I’ve sat in as a guest and I guest hosted for her two years ago. So it’s not like she doesn’t know me but we’re not friends. I am glad that she trusted me when they asked if I could come in and trusted that I could do it.”

Taron Egerton Collapses on Stage During 'Cock' Opening Night Performance

Opening night of Taron Egerton‘s play did not go as expected.

Midway through the first night of Cock, a West End play starring the 32-year-old actor and Jonathan Bailey, on Saturday night (March 5), Taron collapsed on staged.

‘Million Dollar Listing’ star Josh Flagg divorcing husband Bobby Boyd

“Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” star and celebrity real estate broker Josh Flagg is divorcing his husband, Bobby Boyd, following a months-long separation.

Flagg, 36, later confirmed the forthcoming dissolution of his marriage in a statement posted to Instagram Friday night.

“Bobby and I are divorcing,” he wrote. “This might sound abrupt but I felt I should be transparent from the top rather than bury the headline. This was not a rash or impulsive decision. We have been very thoughtful before coming to this conclusion. It was not a lack of love but rather the two of us growing in different directions and wanting very different things for ourselves.”

Flagg — who wed Boyd in a lavish September 2017 ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel — continued, “I care deeply for Bobby and have nothing but love and respect for him. I want how we separate from each other to represent that. Thank you all for your unwavering support.”

Sources tell us that Flagg has been living at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the last few months. According to an Instagram Story post shared hours ago, it appears as though the reality TV personality is currently vacationing at The Brando in the French Polynesia.

Insiders have also confirmed that Flagg is not letting his breakup with Boyd slow down his business endeavors as he is currently in escrow on the Barbara Lockhart estate in Beverly Hills. Additionally, sources say that Flagg might be dating someone new at the moment.

In a statement of his own, Boyd said he “will forever be grateful” for his relationship with Flagg.

“Josh and I have been spending the last cripple months figuring this out together,” the real estate agent wrote in part via Instagram.

“We wanted this to be private between us and not involve most of our friends and family. If there is one thing I can say about both of us, it’s that we both gave everything we absolutely could to make this work.”

Earlier this year, Flagg made headlines when he left Rodeo Realty and moved to Douglas Elliman.

Flagg comes from an esteemed Los Angeles family. Son of Michael Flagg and Cindy Platt Flagg, his late grandmother Edith Flagg was most notable for bringing polyester to the United States in 1967 and later securing a monopoly on the fabric.

Drake Requests Temporary Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker

Drake wants a temporary restraining order against a woman who has allegedly been stalking him for years. In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Larry Stein, who is representing the Views rapper, claimed that his client has received death threats from the 29-year-old, hence the request for some court-ordered protection.

On one occasion cited in court documents, the woman allegedly sent the 6 God an email in which she told him that she should “put a bullet through your head now bitch.” Drake’s family members have also been threatened.

Drake’s interactions with the woman stem back to 2017 when she was arrested for attempting to break into his Los Angeles home. She subsequently filed a $4 million lawsuit alleging that Drizzy attempted to tarnish her reputation. According to the suit, she claimed was defaming her name and sharing her private information on social media.

The Toronto rapper eventually won the suit when the judge noticed there none of his posts made mention of his alleged stalker.

“Plaintiff Collins has not demonstrated any of defendant [Aubrey] Graham’s statements were about plaintiff Collins or that he used her identity, name, or likeness in his Instagram posts or endorsements,” the judge wrote in the court ruling. “Even if plaintiff Collins could establish the statements were about her, she has failed to establish that such statements were of a private fact that is offensive and objectionable to the reasonable person.”

In the new docs, the certified lover boy claims the suit was an attempt to keep track of his whereabouts. He says he is suffering emotional distress as a result of her “harassment and obsession with me” and is seeking a protective order from the judge that will prohibit his alleged stalker from being within 100 yards from him and his family members.

Sam Smith and Normani sued for alleged 'Dancing With a Stranger' copyright infringement

Sam Smith is facing accusations of copyright infringement — again.

A new lawsuit alleges that the "Stay With Me" singer and Fifth Harmony alum Normani plagiarized elements of Jordan Vincent's 2017 song "Dancing With Strangers" for their 2019 duet, "Dancing With a Stranger," Rolling Stone reported Saturday.

According to the music magazine, a complaint was filed Friday in federal court in Los Angeles on behalf of songwriters Vincent, Christopher Miranda, and Rosco Banlaoi, who allege that the two songs have the "same" chorus and composition.

"The hook/chorus in both songs — the most significant part and artistic aspect of these works — contains the lyrics 'dancing with a stranger' being sung over a nearly identical melody and musical composition," the lawsuit reads, per Rolling Stone. In addition, the complaint cites a comparison of the songs' music videos, which highlights similarities in their staging.

"Both videos consist of a girl performing interpretive dance alone in a minimalist studio, interspersed with shots of the male vocalist," the complaint reads. "A girl dancing alone is not an obvious visual theme for a music video titled 'Dancing With a Stranger,' tending to dispel any notion that this similarity is a coincidence. When the extraordinary musical similarity between the songs is also factored in, it becomes even more apparent that it is impossible that the infringing composition and sound recording were independently created."

Representatives for Smith and Normani did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

This lawsuit marks the second time Smith has faced high-profile allegations of copyright infringement. In 2015, news broke that Smith had settled a lawsuit with Tom Petty over melodic similarities between Smith's 2014 hit "Stay With Me" and Petty's 1989 song "I Won't Back Down." The arrangement gave Petty and "I Won't Back Down" co-writer Jeff Lynne a percentage of the royalties from Smith's song. The two were also given songwriting credits on the track.

The "Dancing With a Stranger" lawsuit also names Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, and EMI Music Publishing as defendants, and seeks real and punitive damages for the alleged infringement.

"Defendants were given every chance to come up with an innocent explanation, but, despite assurances that a response was coming including a musicological analysis and report, the defendants never issued a response," the complaint reads. "This suit is being filed as a last resort."

Pregnant Rihanna Shows Off Baby Bump in Skintight Aqua Jumpsuit at Paris Fashion Week

Rihanna is rocking the baby blue! The 34-year-old singer — who is currently expecting her first baby with boyfriend A$AP Rocky — stood out while attending Paris Fashion Week on Friday evening.

For the outing at Caviar Kaspia, Rihanna wore a skintight aqua jumpsuit that featured a cutout across the left side of her stomach, which showed off her growing baby bump.

The "Umbrella" musician accessorized the look with a large trench coat and a pair of complementary sunglasses and heels, alongside an array of jewelry around her neck.

Rihanna uploaded a series of shots of her attire on her Instagram account on Saturday morning. "Thicc," she simply captioned the post.

Earlier in the week, Rihanna wore a peach-colored, leather mini dress that hugged her baby bump while attending the Off-White Fall 2022 fashion show in Paris. She paired the look with a matching shearling coat and knee-high strappy heels, a small purse, and plenty of layered chain necklaces.

A day later, Rihanna then attended the Dior Autumn Winter 2022 show at Paris Fashion Week, where she put her baby bump on full display in a sheer, black naked dress.

She paired the lace overlay with black lingerie, a leather cape and matching knee-high leather boots. Rihanna accessorized the revealing look with silver jewelry, including a choker and layered chain necklaces.

During the Dior event, the Savage X Fenty mogul effortlessly clapped back at a fan who criticized her fashionably late arrival.

"You're late," the faceless spectator could be heard yelling at her in a clip, which has since amassed millions of views. "No s—," Rihanna responded with an over-the-shoulder glance while she was escorted into the venue.

Rihanna revealed in January that she's expecting her first child with longtime boyfriend A$AP Rocky, 33.

After she was photographed debuting her baby bump, a source told PEOPLE that Rihanna is "excited to be a mom" and "couldn't be happier."

Rihanna recently told PEOPLE during her Fenty Beauty event last month in Los Angeles that it's been "fun" but also "a challenge" to play with fashion while she's pregnant. "I like it. I'm enjoying it," she raved.

"I'm enjoying not having to worry about covering up my tummy. If I feel a little chubby, it's like, whatever! It's a baby!" the star continued. "Right now, being pregnant, some days you just feel like, 'Ugh, I just want to lay here on this couch all day.' But when you put on a little face and a little lipstick, you transform."

Added Rihanna: "You put some clothes on, and it's like, when you look good, you feel good. I've heard that for a very long time, but it's true. It really can get you up off that couch and make you feel like a bad bitch."

Meghan Markle Sued by Half-sister Samantha Markle

*According to reports, Meghan Markle is being sued by her half-sister, Samantha Markle for defamation after the duchess and Prince Harry’s, 37, explosive tell all interview with Oprah Winfrey last March. Samantha, 57, claimed in court documents Meghan, 40, lied about her and their family during the sit-down. She also accused her sister of making up stories about growing up in “virtual poverty” and claims Meghan publicly bashed their father, Thomas Markle, 76, in an attempt to sell a false “rags-to-royalty” narrative of her life and gain sympathy. The complaint reads,

“Meghan falsely claimed that: (a) she essentially raised herself from virtual poverty; (b) she was forced from the age of 13 to work in a series of low-paying jobs to ‘make ends meet.’” The lawsuit goes on to accuse Meghan Markle of misleading the public regarding her father’s absence from her 2018 royal wedding.

“Mr. Markle suffered two heart attacks in the weeks before Defendant’s wedding in May 2018 due to stress associated with the Royal wedding, the constant hounding and harassment by paparazzi and other media, and upsetting text messages he received from Defendant and Prince Harry, and Mr. Markle’s cardiologist told him he was too

sick to travel to England for the wedding; Mr. Markle did not refuse to attend the wedding, but was instructed by his doctor not to attend the wedding.”

GOP Blocks House Bill To Ban Race-Based Hair Discrimination

For the second time, Republicans voted against the Crown Act, which bans discrimination of Black Hairstyles in Schools and in the workplace.  According to the HuffPost on Monday. The Crown Act failed to pass the House with a needed two-thirds majority as part of an expedited voting process, with 235 votes for and 188 votes against the bill, the latter all by Republicans.” The crown act was created to end race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or styles that include braids, locs, twists, or Bantu knots.

Hair is a Black woman’s crown and glory, but the history of our hair can be complicated for some to understand.  There are so many untold stories but who can forget about Andrew Johnson the High school student who was forced to cut his locs before a wrestling match or Deandre Arnold, the Texas teen who was suspended over her dreadlocks, banning swim caps for black hair at the Olympics and the countless women who were fired from their jobs because their hairstyles were deemed unprofessional.

“Our natural hair is as innate a quality of Black people as the presence of melanin in our skin,” says Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.)after the vote. “Discriminating against our hair is no different is no different than discriminating against the color of our skin.” She also noted that Black people are “far too often…derided or deemed unprofessional simply because their hair does not conform to white beauty standards.”We will bring the CROWN Act back and pass it with a simple majority.  We won’t allow Republican antics to stand in the way of Black people having the right to live as their authentic selves,” in a statement from Rep. Bonnie Watson .

Aaron Carter Accused Of Punching Ex-FiancΓ©e & Breaking Three Ribs

Singer Aaron Carter is being accused of viciously punching Melanie Martin, his ex-fiancΓ©e and mother of his infant son, and breaking three of her ribs during a recent domestic dispute. In legal documents obtained by The Blast, Martin filed a restraining order in a Los Angeles County court after claiming the former couple got into an intense physical altercation on February 21, 2022. Martin claims the brutal fight happened “during the days of [their] break-up.” She claims it was a result of Carter allegedly consuming “too many prescription pills,” giving him “too much aggression” as they argued about her “talking to another man while broken up.”

Martin adds, “I think he needs anger management, counseling on how to control his anger. He is very jealous and needs to be more rational because he doesn’t even remember he did this, so I believe.” In her legal filing, the model claims, “He punched me in the left rib and pushed me. I didn’t feel the pain until a few days later, then I left the house because he threatened to give me a restraining order. I went to Kaiser, my doctor, and took X-rays,” which she says showed “3 broken ribs.” During the argument, Martin also claims, “[Aaron] tried to threaten me with a fake allegation if I didn’t leave after, and all my things were still at the house, and my baby as well. So, we were thrown out on the streets, had to stay at a friend’s and file this report after the doctor’s visit.”

While she fights to get back into the house to retrieve her “expensive clothing and baby items,” Martin also notes in her filing that LA’s Department of Children and Family Services is now involved, and a social worker has “documentation” of the fight and injuries. “DCFS is recommending to remove this child if he is in the hands of the father. I will be with the child, not the father until the court decides with to do with legalities. I think he needs to go to anger management asap.” Prior to Martin’s filing, Carter filed his own domestic violence restraining order, where he claims Martin was the aggressor and left him with a “scratch on the back and thumb.” He further alleged she’s “verbally abusive, taunting, antagonizing, wouldn’t allow [him] any sleep all night, & shoved, scratched & attempted to push [him] over a 2nd story staircase banister.” He added, she was “Disprsing (sic) medication down the toilet, slandering [him] online & emotionally abusing [him] by threatening to kill herself; causing [him] worry over [their son’s] safety.” He also claimed the abuse happened on a “weekly basis.”

Paris Jackson Encourages Psychiatrists To Stop Handing Out “Addictive Medication Like Candy”

Paris Jackson urges psychiatrists to find a “better vetting process” than handing “out addictive medication like candy.”

“There should be a better vetting process [in everything]: before you medicate — or something even more dangerous, like selling a gun — you should vet them,” Jackson told LVR Magazine.

“It’s important in all kinds of situations. It could be as simple as a job, or as complicated as medicine or a weapon. Psychiatrists hand out addictive medication like candy without really vetting the patient. There is no harm in vetting.”

Jackson, 23, is the daughter of Michael Jackson, who died in 2009 from a cardiac arrest resulting from a fatal combination of prescription drugs.

Paris has also struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, as well as suicide attempts, Page Six reported.

In 2017, during an interview with Rolling Stones, Jackson said, “[I attempted suicide] multiple times. It was just once that it became public,” In June 2013, she took 20 Motrin tablets and slit her wrists and later revealed the incident was her “third strike.”

Jackson went to Utah to receive treatment at a behavior modification school as a  sophomore and junior in high school. She later said that in addition to solving some of her problems, the treatment created some too.

“There are a lot of things at play in those schools,” she explained in her new LVR magazine interview. “They can shut down and reopen under a different name to avoid lawsuits, and it depends on how state laws work.”

“If a kid decides to call their parents and say, ‘Please get me out of here,’ that center will likely hang up the phone and call the parents back to say ‘Don’t listen to them, they are manipulating you, doing everything they can to get out of here.’ Who are you going to listen to, a troubled teen or clinical professional?”

In 2017, Jackson said a doctor prescribed the same anti-depressants her father had, but she wasn’t taking any medications at the moment.

UNC spoils Mike Krzyzewski's Cameron Indoor Stadium farewell

Mike Krzyzewski got a hero's sendoff at his final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, as you might expect from the winningest coach in college basketball history, but he did not get a happy ending.

Krzyzewski's Cameron career came to an end on Saturday against, who else, North Carolina. Among the people who were there to send him off, per Duke, were NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Jerry Seinfeld, Dirk Nowitzki, Kyler Murray, Ken Jeong, Nick Nurse, Terrell Owens and the usual contingent of Cameron crazies.

Duke led the night off with an emotional tribute video:

Krzyzewski then made his entrance through a tunnel of several of his former player

A group photo would follow, then, finally, the game.

If fans wanted to see the festivities or just the beginning of the game, though, the ones watching from home were out of luck. ESPN had the rights to the game, but had to wait to put it on the air because the network's preceding game, Texas-Kansas, went to an ill-timed overtime.

Unfortunately for Krzyzewski, the Cameron Crazies and everyone else who shelled out big money for what Duke claimed was the most expensive ticket in basketball history, it was UNC's night. The Tar Heels rode a late second-half rally to a 94-81 win, with Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, Brady Manek and R.J. Davis all posting 20-point nights.

The whole performance was bad enough that Krzyzewski went out of his way to apologize to the crowd in a postgame address.

It was a big game for both teams, as the win means UNC will almost certainly reach the NCAA tournament after spending much of the last month on the bubble, while Duke could very well lose a No. 1 seed in March Madness.
