#MAGFAB: Jared Leto for Men’s Health Magazine

Jared Leto has conquered age, gravity, and Hollywood. Turning 50, with successful careers in acting, music, and tech investing—and with his eye on El Capitan— the maxihyphenate, star of Morbius and WeCrashed, is learning the value of a rest day. In the new Men’s Health April issue cover story, Leto opens up about his harrowing near-death experience, shares why performing with 30 Seconds to Mars is tougher than anything he’s done, and more.

On his secret to looking so young and healthy:

“I do have a good answer for that, but I probably won’t tell you. Just to keep everybody guessing. Really, honestly, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter.”

On how he confidently juggles so many different opportunities:

“I’m impatient, and I guard my time really well. And that’s probably why I’m able to do multiple things and achieve some of my goals with those things.”

On accepting that when you say yes to one thing, you’re always saying no to something else:

“If you want to achieve greatly, I can tell you how, but it may not be what you want. I’ve worked really, really hard and I’ve achieved some goals in my life, and it’s been a beautiful thing. But there’s a price you pay for all of it. It just depends how important those goals are to you.”

On why performing on stage with Thirty Seconds to Mars is the most physically demanding thing he’s ever done:

“I’d put it somewhere between amateur bowling and . . . Usain Bolt. It’s hard to explain because you’re up there having a good time, but it’s full on for a couple of hours. You’re singing and running around, you have so much adrenaline, and you’re performing at your limit. Your heart is pounding outta your chest, you’re dripping sweat, and you’re exhilarated, but you’re working your body in a really intense way.”

On making extreme changes to his own physique for roles, gaining and losing significant weight:

“But what’s more important is: How does it change the way you walk? How does it change the way you talk? How does it change the way people treat you? I gained over 60 pounds for a role once, and it was amazing. I remember asking someone for the time in New York and they, like, recoiled. I saw people I knew who didn’t know I was filming and thought I had fallen off the—I don’t know how to describe it—that I had ‘not been taking care of myself.’ They took it as a sign of something wrong in my life. It was a really wild thing to experience that.”

Devastating Tornado Touches Down In New Orleans; 1 Dead, Some Houses ‘Missing’

A large tornado tore through New Orleans on Tuesday night, killing at least one person and causing severe damage to homes, officials said.

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado touched down just after 7:30 p.m. local time and urged residents to take cover in the Lower 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish. The storm moved past the city to the east about 20 minutes later. Authorities said that it left a trail of damage and that rescue efforts were underway.

“This is gonna be a long haul,” Guy McInnis, president of St. Bernard Parish, said in a news conference. “Tomorrow we will have a better assessment of all the homes [damaged], the number of homes, the number of people affected.”

Parish officials told NOLA.com there were multiple injuries, although the severity and extent were unclear as of Tuesday night. There were no details released about the person who was killed. According to The Washington Post, a 26-year-old man was found dead outside his home after the storm passed.

The fire department was working with search-and-rescue teams to aid trapped residents. Sheriff James Pohlmann said Tuesday night houses were “missing,” including one that was lifted up and dropped in the center of a street nearby.

“There was somebody trapped in that house,” he told The New York Times, adding that the person had been rescued and taken to a hospital.

John Lane, a spokesman for the St. Bernard Parish president, likened the destruction to 2005’s devastating Hurricane Katrina. In a statement to the Post, he said the damage was more localized “but nevertheless this is significant.”

Photos showed homes with roofs stripped off as well as cars and debris peppered over roadways. Power outages left streets darkened and still.

Many houses in St. Bernard Parish were without power after the storm. Nearby St. Tammany Parish said more than 1,000 homes were experiencing outages. Across the state, more than 8,000 homes were without electricity, according to PowerOutage.us.

“The sheriff confirms there is no power in the area, severe damage to homes and search and rescue efforts are underway for residents trapped in their homes,” the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s office said on social media.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) said the state was assisting local officials, adding that his prayers were with Louisianans impacted by the storm. He urged residents to stay safe.

Trevor Noah Reacts To Kanye Being Pulled From Grammys: I Said Counsel Kanye, Not Cancel

“She looks good!” said a source. “She isn’t fully back, but she seems like 80% of her old self. In another couple of months, and I bet she’s totally back.”

The source credits her alleged improvements to the support of her family and several lifestyle changes, including taking a break from alcohol.

“Wendy has vowed not to drink and she is eating much healthier these days and it shows, her legs aren’t nearly as swollen.”

Wendy Williams has reportedly been in Florida with family as she recovers, but the source claimed she’s planning to return to New York “soon.”

“Wendy is making plans to make a big comeback,” the source added.

The update comes weeks after it was announced that The Wendy Williams Show would officially end after its current season. Former The View co-host Sherri Shepherd will replace Williams in the fall with a show called “Sherri.” Sherri Shepherd has shared her hope that Williams will appear on the show, along with other stars such as Idris and Sabrina Elba, and Barack and Michelle Obama.

Wendy also did a rare phone interview, stating that she is doing much better and will return to the Wendy Show.

Wrongfully Convicted Man Sues Kansas County For $93 Million

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A Kansas man who served 23 years in prison for a double murder he did not commit is seeking $93 million in damages from the county where he was convicted and a former detective he says framed him.

Lamonte McIntyre, 45, and his mother allege in a lawsuit filed in 2018 that the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, is responsible for the actions of former Kansas City, Kansas, police detective Roger Golubski and other officers involved in his prosecution.

A federal judge on Thursday set a Nov. 7 trial for the civil case. The Unified Government wants to have the trial moved to Wichita because of extensive publicity in the Kansas City area, KCUR reported.

McIntyre's mom is also seeking $30 million. She and her son allege that Golubski coerced her into sex and then framed McIntyre for a double homicide in 1994 because she rejected the detective's later sexual advances.

They also allege Golubski abused Black women for years and many officers were aware of his conduct. The pretrial orders includes initials of 73 women.

Golubski denies the allegations and has asked that they not be allowed as evidence in the case. If the allegations are admitted, he will argue he was a good officer during his career from 1975 through 2010, when he retired, according to his lawyers' statement.

McIntyre was freed from prison in 2017 after a local prosecutor asked the court to vacate his convictions and to drop all charges. In 2020, he was awarded a certificate of innocence and $1.5 million from the state.

McIntyre, who now lives in Arizona, has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and suffered other negative emotional impacts from his imprisonment, according to the lawsuit.

His mother also has been diagnosed with PTSD and has sought psychological treatment for 17 years, the lawsuit says.

The local government contends even if the allegations of misconduct are proven it is not liable because the officers' actions were outside the scope of their employment. It also denies the police chief knew about the alleged misconduct.

Angela Bassett Says 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' Will 'Top' the First One

Angela Bassett is excited for fans to see what the cast and crew of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have been working on. The 63-year-old actress shared an update on the upcoming Marvel film during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday.

When DeGeneres brought up the sequel, noting that it must be difficult to work on the project after the death of former lead Chadwick Boseman, who played King T'Challa in the first film and died in August 2020 at the age of 43 after a private battle with cancer. Bassett agreed, saying, "It is, he was such an example, such a leader. We just hope to raise the standard."

But when the host asked if Bassett could share any further details on the project, the actress told her, "Absolutely not." She confirmed the existence of a sequel and shared the release, which DeGeneres noted was already public knowledge. Despite playing coy, Bassett gave fans a small tease to sate their hunger, temporarily.

"It's going to be amazing. It's going to top one," she said, before jokingly asking if she was allowed to say that.

Back in September, Bassett spoke with ET's Nischelle Turner about the second installment after Letitia Wright, who plays T'Challa's sister, Shuri, was hospitalized in Boston after a stunt mishap.

Bassett, who plays Wright's on-screen mother, assured fans that the Wakandan princess is doing just fine.

"She had a little bit of a fall, but it's not too bad," she told ET. "You know, anything like that will shake you up, but she's just a little, slight, little petite thing. But she is fine and ready to go."

When asked about working on the film without Boseman, Bassett shared that the crew "still feel some kind of way in our heart" without the late actor. "So every day is just a testament and a lovefest for our dear," she told ET.

"Did your spirit settle when you read the Black Panther 2 script?" Turner asked Bassett.

"Yes. You know, we still have Ryan [Coogler] and Joe Robert Cole, who wrote Black Panther one, so the two of them, these men, these brothers, they're going to bring it," she shared. "They love Black Panther, they love what they started. As they say, 'Finish the way you started.' They started great and they're going to do this one well as well."

Jussie Smollett's lawyer files defamation lawsuit against actor's alleged attackers

Jussie Smollett‘s lawyer is taking legal action against the Nigerian brothers involved in his alleged kidnapping hoax, according to Rolling Stone.

In a defamation lawsuit filed by defense attorney Mark Geragos, he claims that Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo falsely insisted that his comments about their involvement in the stunt were inaccurate.

The Osundairo brothers had initially filed a suit in which they alleged that Geragos went on his “Reasonable Doubt” podcast and alongside associate Tina Glandian, wrongly accused them of carrying out an actual hate crime against his client. In his countersuit, Smollett argues that their claims were “frivolous and fraudulent.”

“They fabricated statements out of thin air and falsely attributed them to Mr. Geragos,” read the suit, per Rolling Stone. “In actuality, and as the transcript of the podcast reveals, Mr. Geragos never said anything remotely similar to what the complaint alleged […] Since the time the fraudulent lawsuit was filed, [Geragos and his firm] have wasted considerable time, effort and resources to defend themselves, and to mitigate the damage to their reputation that flowed from defendants’ reckless and malicious actions.”

Since authorities discovered the Osundairos were connected to Smollett’s reported attack, the brothers have maintained their innocence from allegations of conducting a hate crime. Instead, they’ve declared that they participated in the staged assault after being hired for the job. Though their lawsuit against Geragos and Glanian were dismissed, Abimbola and Olabinjo were recently told they can still take legal action against the associate, who made disparaging comments about them on another occasion.

“I was looking up the brothers and one of the first videos that showed up actually was one of the brothers in whiteface, doing a Joker monologue with white makeup on,” Glandian said during a 2019 interview on the “Today” show. “And so it’s not implausible.”

Jamal Crawford retires from the NBA

For many years, Jamal Crawford was the blueprint for NBA reserves. Although he managed to stay on the court after his 40th birthday (which is quite impressive), the 21-year veteran decided to throw in the towel on his 42nd birthday this past Sunday. “Goodbye to the game, all the spoils the adrenaline rush,” Crawford said in a tweet posted late Sunday night. “Thank you basketball, I owe you everything.” Although it may have came as a shock to some, Jamal’s decision to hang it up was bound to happen sooner than later. Nonetheless, he will truly be missed on the court.

Crawford, who was lethal with his elite handling and bucket-getting repertoire, redefined the NBA role of a bench scorer and played for nine different teams over the course of his career. J Crossover was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2000 where he spent his first four years as a professional hooper. Through his memorable and exciting career, he suited up for the Knicks, Warriors, Hawks, Blazers, Clippers, Timberwolves, Suns and Nets. In that time, he became the NBA’s premiere bench scorer. The Seattle native averaged 14.6 points per game and won the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award three times, once with the Hawks and twice with the Clippers.

The future Hall-Of-Famer was a full-time NBA reserve at the age of 38 for the Suns. In his final game for Phoenix, he became the oldest player in NBA history to score 50 or more points at 39 years old. Setting himself up for this special moment, Jamal Crawford has kept busy with NBA broadcast work over the past year and continues to serve as a role model and mentor for the younger generation of NBA stars.

Congratulations and thank you for years of memorable highlights and buckets, J Crossover!

BeyoncΓ© in Talks to Perform on Oscars Telecast From Compton Tennis Courts

Organizers behind the Oscars are pulling out all the stops to land an iconic performance from best original song nominee BeyoncΓ©, multiple sources close to the show told Variety.

While the superstar made nary an awards campaign stop over the past months in support of her track “Be Alive,” co-written with artist Dixson for the film “King Richard,” BeyoncΓ©’s camp has been in deep talks with producers to mount a satellite performance of the song — one that would possibly open the show, and broadcast live from tennis courts in Compton, Calif. The concept began solidifying last Monday, three individuals with knowledge of the talks said.

The location, of course, is where sports legends Venus and Serena practiced relentless drills in their youth under the watchful eye of their father, Richard. One possible scenario would have Will Smith, who plays the titular character in the film, appear onsite with BeyoncΓ© and then presumably head north to Hollywood in time to take his seat for the announcement of the best actor category, sources added.

An Academy spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment. A BeyoncΓ© spokesperson couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The “Lemonade” singer is notoriously secretive, often requiring the most high-level collaborators to sign binding nondisclosure agreements for the chance to work with her. Numerous insiders close to the industry and to the city government said that it’s possible BeyoncΓ© would abandon the concept entirely if any of her plans were to be revealed. While there are numerous tennis courts in the City of Compton, located in metro Los Angeles, the Lueders Park courts were officially rebranded as the Venus and Serena Williams Court of Champion in 2016. The Compton City Manager’s office did not return multiple calls for comment on the matter.

Any pop culture watcher or Beyhive member would recognize a move like this as trademark BeyoncΓ© — a performance that could utilize the popularity of the Oscars to shine a light on Compton, and celebrate two native daughters who conquered their sport and the world.

Over the years, the Academy has shown their affection for BeyoncΓ© as a performer (if not for her acclaimed acting breakout in the 2006 film “Dreamgirls). In 2005, the singer performed numerous tracks in the best song category on the live broadcast, including “Learn to Be Lonely” from the feature remake of “The Phantom of the Opera.” She sang alongside Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose in 2007 with a medley from “Dreamgirls,” and also in 2009 to accompany host Hugh Jackman in a montage celebrating movie musicals.

The 2022 Academy Awards will air this Sunday, March 27, on ABC.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have video call with President Zelensky as their Ukraine fundraiser nears $35 million

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher's fundraising efforts for Ukraine haven't gone unnoticed by President Zelensky.

Amid the Russian invasion of the country, the couple raised nearly $35 million and counting via a GoFundMe benefitting the people of Ukraine, where Kunis was born. Zelensky praised them on social media Sunday, saying he's "impressed by their determination" in raising money for the more than 10 million refugees, and shared an image of the three of them on a video call.

Kunis and Kutcher "were among the first to respond to our grief," Zelensky wrote. "They have already raised $35 million & are sending it to @flexport & @Airbnb to help πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ refugees. Grateful for their support. Impressed by their determination. They inspire the world. #StandWithUkraine."

The fundraiser was launched by the That '70s Show pair on March 3. They matched the first $3 million in donations as they worked toward a goal of $30 million, which goes to two organizations, Flexport.org and Airbnb.org, which are providing immediate help to those in need. The former is organizing shipments of relief supplies to refugee sites in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova while the latter is providing free, short-term housing to refugees fleeing Ukraine. Last week, they hit their initial goal, so they raised it to $40 million, imploring that people continue to donate.

In a recent interview with Maria Shriver, Kunis said that she and Kutcher met Zelensky and his wife, Olena Zelenska, in 2019.

Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1983 and moved to the United States in 1991when she was 8.

"I very much have always felt like an American," she said, having lived in Los Angeles for much of her life. "People were like, 'Oh, you're so Eastern European.' I was like, 'I'm so L.A.!' What do you mean? Like, my whole life I was like ‘I am L.A. through and through.'"

That changed when Russia invaded Ukraine last month. While she had visited the country through the years, it made her re-examine and embrace her Ukrainian identity.

"[Russia's invasion] happens and I can't express or explain what came over me, but all of a sudden I was like, 'Oh my God, I feel like a part of my heart just got ripped out,' It was the weirdest feeling," she said. "It doesn’t take away from who I am as a person but it just adds an entire different layer."

'She added, "Everythings changed. It is a sense of pride, and it’s not taking away from loving where I live now and everything that this country has given me."

‘Mean Girls’ star Jonathan Bennett marries Jaymes Vaughan in Mexico

Jonathan Bennett married Jaymes Vaughan at the Unico Riviera Maya Hotel in Mexico on Saturday, the “Mean Girls” star confirmed to Page Six.

“I didn’t know someone could be this happy or feel this loved,” he told us in a statement. “I also didn’t think I could ugly cry for 30 minutes straight, but I totally did, and it was perfect.”

Bennett, 40, and Vaughan, 38, exchanged hand-written vows before enjoying a lavish reception with their intimate group of family and friends.

“When you’re part of the LGBTQ+ fam, not everything in the wedding space is for you yet,” Vaughan told People, who was first to report the news.

“The whole purpose of our wedding is to come together and join the two of us together, join our families together and start a new family.”

Bennett echoed those sentiments, adding, “And all that, as we were going through this process, we realized that our wedding is also more than just about us. It’s about the entire community.”

Instead of a typical procession down the aisle, they chose to walk in from the beach and meet one another at the altar, the outlet reports, adding that a song that Vaughan wrote for Bennett – which he debuted when he proposed in November 2020 – played in the background.

Additionally, Bennett tapped one of his closest friends, YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen, to officiate the ceremony. After Bennett and Vaughan shared their personal promises to one another, each man placed a diamond-encrusted ring on the other’s hand.

The wedding party stuck to “gender-neutral” black tuxes and white tuxes, while the guests – which included stars like Danica McKellar and Sharon Lawrence – dressed in various shades of white to honor Bennett’s late mother.

For similar reasons, the couple chose white roses for the arrangements. “White flowers were her favorite,” Vaughan explained.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Jackie Cox emceed the “tropical romantic” reception, where everyone sat at one big round table and enjoyed dishes like steak and mahi-mahi.

At one point, a firework display – which was set to the soundtrack of “The Greatest Showman” – lit up above them.

“It was honestly a dream wedding!” Bennett gushed to People, adding, “If you had told me this was one of my Hallmark movie sets, I would have believed it. It was that perfect.”

Spiritual Advisor Heir Holiness admits she is Daniel Kaluuya’s manager

After initially denying she worked with "Judas and the Black Messiah" actor Daniel Kaluuya, spiritual advisor Heir Holiness now admits she is his personal manager. She has been accused of alienating others who worked with him.NY Post photo composite

Spiritual advisor Heir Holiness has confirmed that she is indeed Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya’s “personal manager” after previously denying to Page Six that she worked for the star.

Heir Holiness — real name Vanylla Salimah Mahmoud, 50 — has set up a new Instagram account identifying herself as “Daniel Kaluuya’s personal manager” and the COO of Greater Good Entertainment, as well as an expert in “mentoring, management and artist development.”

We have reached out to Heir Holiness for comment.

Insiders told Page Six earlier this month that they were concerned about Heir Holiness’s alleged influence over Kaluuya after the actor parted ways with his reps, assistants and stylists. They also claimed that that she caused issues on the set of his upcoming new movie, director Jordan Peele’s “NOPE.”

On one of her Instagram accounts, she recently hit back at accusations that she was responsible for Kaluuya firing staff. “He had some problems in his business with some people and he fired them, what does that have to do with me?” she wrote, according to Vulture.com

She posted a photo of Kaluuya at the BAFTAs recently, calling him “My Young King.”

In a lengthy post on her new account, Heir Holiness wrote: “Recent press has tried to spin a narrative regarding my behavior … let’s be clear when I’m working I’m WORKING and my focus is my client.

“Whatever they want … Whatever they need … Whatever they ask for … Whatever it takes to create an environment where THEY can, with as much grace and ease, give THEIR very best… I DO.

“I do NOTHING that I haven’t been asked and directed to do by my CLIENT.”

She also offered a sales pitch for her evil eye necklace, adding in an Instagram Story: “I will have some for sale. The hamsa, the eye, and the om, the most powerful protection symbols.

“The swastika as well, but because Hitler used it and it still has such a negative connotation I will not be offering that one. But it is the most powerful.”

Kaluuya, who is due to present an award at the 2022 Oscars on March 27, has yet to discuss the situation. His reps were unavailable for comment

10,000 Sign Petition To End Opera Based On Emmett Till’s Life And Murder

A New York City college is facing backlash after it was revealed that an opera based on Emmett Till’s life and murder was set to hit the stage.

John Jay College student Mya Bishop launched a petition and protest to have the opera based on Till’s tragic death to be removed immediately from the college theatre roster. The production was created by Clare Coss and composed by Mary D. Watkins and it is set to premiere at the college’s Gerald W. Lynch Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday. It is also open to the public despite the outcry from college students.

On Change.org, Bishop wrote that the opera will be centered on a fictional white school teacher named Roanne Taylor, an “ally” who was against Jim Crow and racial inequality. “Clare Coss is out of line for taking it upon herself to turn Black trauma into entertainment and for exploiting a Black tragedy to propel her career and relieve her of her guilt about her whiteness,” she added.

A spokesperson said in a statement that Bishop’s claims are inaccurate since she stated that Cross was the sole creator of the opera.  “The petition completely minimizes Ms. Watkins’ role. In fact, it is common practice when referencing operas for the work to be attributed to the composer, for example, Bizet’s ‘Carmen,’ Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni,’ and Puccini’s ‘La Boheme.’ Both Ms. Coss and Ms. Watkins have worked tirelessly to develop this work together for the last several years and it is such a disservice to her hard work, contributions, and input in this piece to suggest otherwise,” the spokesperson told the New York Daily News.

So far the petition has over 10,000 signatures but it is unclear if the CUNY college will postpone production.

LeBron James on Passing Karl Malone on Career Scoring List: ‘It’s an Honor’

LeBron James has made another historical victory in his basketball career. He passed Karl Malone‘s all-time score of 36,928 points.

James officially scored 36,947 points this past Saturday in a difficult defeat against the Washington Wizards. He stands in second place behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at 38,387 points.

He released a statement after beating Malone’s score. “Just to be part of this league the many years I’ve been a part of it and being linked to some of the greatest who’ve ever played this game and guys I’ve ever watched or studied or read about or aspired to be like … I’m just always lost for words for it,” James said. “It’s an honor for myself, for my hometown, for my family and friends to be able to live these moments throughout this journey. And that’s exactly who I do it for.”

James scored his historic basket with an assist from Stanley Johnson and received a standing ovation after throwing his hand in the air in recognition and gratitude.

Even Carmelo Anthony talked about his teammates’ victory. “I’m still in awe to be alongside him while he’s still doing what he’s doing at a high level.” Anthony got drafted in the same class as James and stands in ninth place of scoring.

He continued, “Especially coming from somebody who was not, you know, ‘known’ for, as they say, scoring. Now to have the chance to be the No. 1 all-time scorer in the history of the NBA, somebody who has been doing it for 19 seasons at an all-time high, and somebody who just embraced the moment. He’s been doing that his whole career.”

“When I was younger, I used to think, ‘Ain’t nobody catching Karl Malone. Nobody catching Kareem,” Anthony added.

When asked whether he was concerned about catching up with Jabbar’s score, James said he wasn’t going to “think about it.”

“I will not allow myself to think about it. I’ve always just played the game the way I’ve been playing it over the years, and these things have just happened organically by just going out and just playing the game the right way. Trying to win every game, playing the right way, playing for your teammates and things of that nature.”

James concluded, “So I hope to accomplish that at some point in my career, but I won’t think about it too much pretty much until we get there, hopefully.”
