The celebration of life was held at NeNe's Linnethia Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, where a number of former Real Housewives of Atlanta castmates came together to pay their respects and celebrate Gregg's life.

Among those spotted at the event were past and present RHOA stars including Lisa Wu, Phaedra Parks, Marlo Hampton, Porsha Williams and Eva Marcille.

Ahead of Monday's gathering, NeNe took to Instagram and shared a throwback photo of herself and Gregg sharing a sweet kiss.

"Today we celebrate you Gregg with love, just the way you wanted itπŸ’”" she captioned the post.

Gregg and NeNe's son, Brentt, shared a photo from the celebration of life event to his Instagram story, to commemorate his father.

The photo showed a large, smiling portrait of Gregg that adorned one of the walls of the lounge, which Brentt captioned, "Love ya pops."

Gregg died after a battle with colon cancer on Sept. 1, at the age of 66.

NeNe, 53, first revealed in June 2018 that Gregg had been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer but as of May 2019, he was cancer-free. However, in June, NeNe said his cancer had returned.

One month later, she gave fans an update on her husband's health and shared that he was released from the hospital after he underwent surgery and was hospitalized for six weeks.

Following the news of his death, celebrities from across the country took to social media to share tributes and condolences.

#HipHopNews: 50 Cent Slammed For Distasteful Instagram Post Following 'The Wire' Actor Michael K. Williams' Death!

The acting community is in mourning after learning The Wire actor Michael K. Williams had been found dead of a suspected drug overdose in his Brooklyn apartment on Monday (September 6).

According to the New York Post, Williams’ body was discovered alongside drug paraphernalia, suggesting he’d taken a fatal dose of heroin or fentanyl.

But 50 Cent, who has built an impressive career in television since his glory days as a rapper, is catching flak for his recent post about Williams. Shortly after the news broke, Fiddy chose to use the New York Post‘s article about Williams’ death to promote his popular television show Raising Kanan.

“Damn if you didn’t see Raising Kanan check it out,” he captioned the post. “that fentanyl is no joke, killing the clientele. RIP michael k. williams.”

In 2018, Michael K. Williams called out 50 Cent for allegedly spreading a false rumor about James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond getting jumped behind bars.

“I just stopped pass with a little message for anyone who may or may not be interested in anything they’ve heard in regards to Jimmy Rosemond on social media these past few days,” he wrote at the time. “They are completely false y’all. I speak to him and his team of lawyers on a regular basis and I assure you he is fine and in prayer.

“So with that I’ll say to anyone under the sound of this simple man’s voice God bless.”

50 Cent fired back, “Old Omar how much they pay you to play a punk PUNK. Mind your business da fuck wrong wit you.”

Williams was just 54 at the time of his death. The New York City native was initially discovered by the late Tupac Shakur, who recommended he play “High Top” in the 1996 film Bullet.

But it wasn’t until The Wire that William gained national notoriety. Filming began in 2002 and Williams was tasked with playing Omar Little, a notorious Baltimore stick-up man.

Longtime New York City Hip Hop promoter Van Silk remembers him fondly, telling HipHopDX, “I met this brother when I was living in Baltimore from 1999 to 2010. Our best conversation was when he got booked for The Wire. Every week, he would come by my mixtape store at Paptasco Arena or he send his boy to get his package.

“It was the same time Felicia Pearson, also known as Snoop, had wanted me to manage her because she got booked for The Wire. We all hung out at Club One and when my friend Tracy White was doing a lot of rap concerts. Another great brother gone too soon.”

Williams’ nephew went to his uncle’s home on Monday after someone called cops just before 2 p.m. local time, saying there was a man there who was “unresponsive’’ and “feels cold.” He was pronounced dead at the scene. Fans of Williams were incensed by 50 Cent’s poorly timed Instagram post, so much so he became a trending Twitter topic.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky double date with Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty!

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are in bestie mode. Minaj, 38, shared several snaps of herself with Rihanna, 33, enjoying what looked like a double date night with their respective men, Kenneth Petty and A$AP Rocky.

They were also joined by Minaj and Petty’s soon-to-be one year old son, whose name still hasn’t been revealed. Minaj has affectionately referred to her baby boy as “Papa Bear” on several occasions.

“#RokNRiha#QueenRih#CaribbeanGirlsRunit Love her downnnnnnn #NewYorkS–t#YKTFV,” Minaj captioned a group pic of all five of them cozied on a small couch together.

It’s unclear exactly when the date night happened because Minaj was posting photos of herself, Petty and their son in the same outfits three days earlier.

The “Anaconda” rapper also uploaded a selfie-style video of her and Rihanna blowing kisses and fixing their hair.

Rihanna and Nicki enjoyed a family-style date night over the weekend. At one point in the video, Rihanna dropped some island tea by revealing that the people of Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, where the girls are individually from, historically don’t get along.

“You know Bajans don’t like Trinis?” Rihanna asked, to which Minaj audibly gasped. “And Trinis don’t like Bajans. They draw a line in the ocean over flying fish.”

Rihanna promised to explain more about the feuding islands to Minaj “another night.” Hopefully the pair share more content together whenever that night happens.

The pair sparked rumors of a new collab after following each other on IG in May 2021.

Instagram

Earlier this year Rihanna was crowned a billionaire and named the richest female musician with a net worth estimated at $1.7 billion, according to Forbes.

Interestingly, most of Rihanna’s fortune comes from her Fenty Beauty business — not her endless chart-topping hits. According to Shannon Coyne, co-founder of consumer products consultancy Bluestock Advisors, that’s due in large part to Savage x Fenty’s focus on inclusivity.

“A lot of women felt there were no lines out there that catered to their skin tone. It was light, medium, medium dark, dark,” Coyne explained to Forbes. “We all know that’s not reality.”

“[Rihanna] was one of the first brands that came out and said, ‘I want to speak to all of those different people.’”

Exonerated Five Member Yusef Salaam Running For New York State Senate!

As a Senate seat prepares to be vacated, Yusef Salaam is ready to step up to the position!

Over the weekend, various outlets reported that Yusef Salaam is running for New York State Senate. Yusef Salaam, 47, is notably a member of the Exonerated Five, formerly referred to as the Central Park Five.

Back in 1989, a white woman was raped while out jogging in Central Park. In the aftermath of the incident, five Black and Latino teenagers–Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, Korey Wise, Kevin Richardson, and Antron McCray–were accused and found guilty of the crime. However, their convictions were overturned in 2002 after the true assailant–Matias Reyes–was identified. The group has since been referred to as the Central Park Five and, later, the Exonerated Five. They ultimately received a $41 million settlement from New York City in 2014 for the miscarriage of justice.

Now, one of the Exonerated Five is running for Senate. Specifically, Yusef Salaam is looking to represent Harlem, East Harlem, and Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The area–New York‘s 30th State Senate district–is currently represented by Brian Benjamin, and he is vacating the seat tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 7th).

On top of Yusef Salaam, New York State Assembly members Al Taylor and Inez Dickens are also expected to run for New York’s 30th State Senate district.

DMX’s fiancΓ©e shares emotional post about their son Exodus: “He misses his daddy so much”!

DMX’s fiancΓ©e says their 5-year-old son Exodus is still mourning his father’s death. On Friday (Sept. 3), Desiree Lindstrom took to her Instagram Story to share an emotional update about the young child, saying he “misses his daddy so much.”

“It’s so sad and heartbreaking as a mother when your son ask mommy when can we go and be with daddy and God in heaven…!” Lindstrom wrote alongside crying and prayer hands emojis. She added, “He misses his daddy so much.”

Last month, Exodus celebrated his fifth birthday. Lindstrom marked the occasion with an Instagram post, writing, “Exodus Earl Simmons... you are the joy that came into our lives five years ago. God blessed us with you and I am thankful that you are by my side.”

“Your daddy loved you beyond the countless stars and when he named you... he knew that you would be the next chapter to us... the Exodus,” she added. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY my son... blessings, good health, love and peace.”

The tiny tot tragically lost his father, DMX, back in April. As reported by REVOLT, the New York rap icon was rushed to the White Plains Hospital on April 2 after suffering a heart attack. He passed away at the hospital one week later after losing the function of several organs. DMX was also a father to 14 other children, four of whom he shared with his ex-wife Tashera Simmons.

DMX’s fiancΓ©e wishes him a happy Father’s Day and shares sweet video of their son

Lindstrom has continued to keep her late fiancΓ©’s memory alive on social media. Back in May, she and Exodus celebrated their first Mother’s Day without DMX by visiting him at the graveyard.

“[Exodus] and I decided to go spend Mother’s Day with his daddy... Today is the first Mother’s Day with him being in heaven and not here with us!” she captioned an Instagram post at the time. “We miss him deeply and love him so very much!”

Eva Longoria, Shonda Rhimes, and Jurnee Smollett Step Down from Time's Up Board!

Time’s Up is restructuring their leadership after the organization became embroiled in former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal.

via: AceShowbiz

Shonda Rhimes and “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria are among the big names who have resigned from the board of controversial organisation Time’s Up.

Actresses Jurnee Smollett and Katie McGrath and Time’s Up’s interim board chair Nina Shaw will also be stepping down, as announced in a statement posted on Saturday (04Sep21) to the Time’s Up website.

The exits come after the recent resignation of chief executive officer Tina Tchen, who drew criticism for helping embattled New York Governor Andrew Cuomo tackle sexual harassment claims, with reports at the time suggesting she and other Time’s Up executives sought to help the politician discredit his accusers.

Actress Ashley Judd is among those remaining on the board “to help ensure a smooth transition,” according to the statement, which continued, “TIME’S UP is ready for new leadership.”

“TIME’S UP was created to support the goal of safe, fair, dignified work for all women. It is crucial to us as a board that the organization remain in service to this seismic, global work to demand equity and disrupt systems that foster discrimination, harassment and abuse. We see the current crisis within TIME’S UP as an important opportunity for growth and change.”

“TIME’S UP belongs to all women. Its mission must continue – until we live in a world in which no woman ever needs to say #timesup again.”

After Tina Tchen, a lawyer and former chief of staff for Michelle Obama, stepped down, Monifa Bandele was named interim CEO of Time’s Up.

The move comes after Roberta Kaplan was pressured to step down as chair of the board last month, after the New York Attorney General’s report on Cuomo revealed she advised the governor on a letter meant to discredit one of his nearly a dozen accusers.

Nearly 150 people signed an open letter on Medium last month, urging a third-party investigation into Time’s Up and the National Women’s Law Center.

Terrell Owens Still Hates Former Teammate Donovan McNabb, Wants To Box McNabb And Knock Him Out!

Terrell Owens still really hates his former teammate Donovan McNabb. Last year during an appearance on Bleacher Report’s Untold Stories with Master Tes, McNabb said that he felt Owens was responsible for breaking up the Eagles in 2005 and prevented them from returning to a Super Bowl.

“The lead-in to the following year I’m thinking he’ll be back healthy, you know? We had Free, we had guys that were just elevating their game, gaining experience, we’re going to be back,” said McNabb. “So, the off season goes through and all of the sudden there’s turmoil here there are conversations going back and forth and we had to answer those questions instead of focusing on what we need to do in order to get back to where we were and I thought that was the major distraction for us.

“You know, he’s doing sit-ups, you know, he’s doing push-ups, he’s playing basketball, he ordered pizza for the people out there and we sitting there in training camp just like, ‘You gotta be kidding me,’” he continued.

“I’m just sitting there, I’m watching on TV and Brian Dawkins and Trotter were my roommates,” added McNabb. “And Dawk comes in and he’s like ‘What did he do now?’ and I’m like ‘Take a look.’ Like, this is like Days of Our Lives. Like, it’s unbelievable, you know. That was something that kind of broke us up. That was the most frustrating thing for me.”

An irate T.O. went on to blast McNabb for his comments and even threatened to expose his former teammate’s “dirty laundry.”

Melania Trump Says She Has No Interest In Being First Lady Again Despite Husband Teasing To Run For President In 2024!

According to CNN, The former First Lady Melania Trump has no interest in being first lady again despite her husband Donald Trump teasing supporters that he will be running for president again in 2024.

“Not unlike 2016, Melania Trump has no intention really of joining the campaign,” CNN’s Kate Bennett shared on Sunday. “I’ve spoken to people who said that she’s not even really interested in being in the White House again, going through being first lady again.”

Several of Melania Trump’s friends expressed to CNN that she had no interest in being back in the White House, let alone helping, if her husband chooses to run.

Former President Donal Trump has yet to confirm if he will be running again but he has teased the possibility, stating his supporter will be “very happy” with his decision.

It seems Melania Trump is content with being out of the public eye. Previous reports shared that she was “happy and relaxed” since her departure from the White House earlier this year.

“She’s retreated now back to Mar-a-Lago, being a mom,” Bennett said. “We know she’s an extremely private person and that being in the public eye wasn’t necessarily something she wanted to do in the first place.”

As for Donald Trump he has still continued to host fundraisers and rallies despite officially making an announcement of a 2024 bid.

Human Rights Campaign Has Fired Its President Alphonso David!

The New York Times reports: Alphonso David, the president of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest L.G.B.T.Q. advocacy organization, was ousted by the group’s board on Monday night over a report revealing that he had advised former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on how to handle sex harassment allegations.

Mr. David, the group’s first Black president, was terminated “for cause” in separate votes by the boards of the Human Rights Campaign and its affiliated foundation after the two boards held a joint meeting. Beyond two abstentions from the foundation board, the votes were unanimous.

Mr. David, who had worked as a lawyer in Mr. Cuomo’s office, was identified in the James report as involved in efforts to undermine Mr. Cuomo’s first accuser, Lindsey Boylan. Despite no longer working there, Mr. David had a memo in his possession containing confidential information about Ms. Boylan’s employment history.

Reuters reports:

His dismissal was announced by the co-chairs of HRC’s board, Morgan Cox and Jodie Patterson, in a statement that said that his actions in assisting Cuomo’s teams had violated the campaign’s mission.

It also accused David of making statements that included “significant untruths” about the investigation and his role in the organization.

“At HRC, we are fighting to bring full equality and liberation to LGBTQ+ People everywhere. That includes fighting on behalf of all victims of sexual harassment and assault,” the statement said.

NBC News reports:

David, who was Cuomo’s chief counsel from 2015 to 2019, responded Monday with a statement saying the group’s board had “unjustly” provided notice of termination and vowed to bring a legal challenge. “As a Black, gay man who has spent his whole life fighting for civil and human rights, they cannot shut me up,” he said.

In a statement earlier Monday, he said the group’s co-chairs had asked him to resign but “didn’t offer a shred of evidence of any wrongdoing on my part when I asked repeatedly.” Referring to the document he helped draft, he said in a statement Sunday that he had a “legal obligation” to provide it to Cuomo but then spoke out against it.

Nicole Scherzinger's Lawyer Reacts to Lawsuit Filed by Pussycat Dolls Founder!

A lawsuit was filed against Nicole Scherzinger last week by Robin Antin, the founder of the Pussycat Dolls.

Now, Nicole‘s lawyer is firing back at the allegations in the lawsuit and he has written a strongly worded statement in response.

In the lawsuit, it’s alleged that near the end of 2019, Robin and Nicole came to a deal for a reunion tour and new Pussycat Dolls business venture, and that Nicole would get 49% under a short-form agreement, or a Memorandum of Understanding.

Nicole now “refuses to participate in the tour,” Robin stated the complaint, adding she “demanded to renegotiate the terms of the MOU” and now wants to be a 75% owner with final decision-making authority. Live Nation is now apparently demanding $600,000 that it put up for the tour, as the dates have not been confirmed yet.

Nicole‘s lawyer told People that the claims are “ludicrous and false.” The lawyer added that the lawsuit is a “desperate attempt to divert blame for her own failures by trying to impose obligations on Nicole that simply do not exist.”

The lawyer says that Nicole is not responsible for paying back the $600,000 to Live Nation.

“Robin will fail in her efforts to trade on Nicole‘s hard-earned success to pull herself out of a deep financial hole she has created by her own poor business and professional decisions,” the lawyer said. “Prior to Nicole‘s involvement, trading on Nicole‘s name without her consent, Robin borrowed (and spent) $600,000 from Live Nation that she won’t or can’t repay. Nicole has invested her own funds in excess of $150,000 in support of a potential PCD reunion that has now been made impossible by Robin‘s actions (including the public release of the group members’ confidential financial information).”

The statement concluded, “Nicole loves and respects the PCD fans and hopes to one day be back on stage performing the group’s amazing hits for them. Sadly, this will not happen under these circumstances.”

Why Drake Was Forced to Credit R. Kelly on New Album: His 'Voice Isn't Even Present,' Says Producer!

One of the producers behind Drake's recently released Certified Lover Boy album is clearing the air about an R. Kelly credit on the LP.

Over the weekend, Noah "40" Shebib, one of the several producers on the "One Dance" hitmaker's latest project, responded to an Instagram post with a headline stating, "Certified Lover Boy: Drake album credits R. Kelly as co-lyricist."

Noting that Kelly, 54, doesn't actually appear on the album's eighth track "TSU," Shebib, 38, explained why Kelly had to be credited in order to use "a sample of OG Ron c talking."

"Behind that faintly which you can't even hear is an r Kelly song playing in the background. It has no significance no lyrics are present, r Kelly's voice isn't even present but if we wanted to use Ron c talking we were forced to license it," he continued, referring to the beloved DJ and on-air personality, detailing, "Doesn't sit well with me let me just say that."

"And I'm not here to defend drakes lyrics, but I thought I would clear up that there is no actual r Kelly present and it's a bit misleading to call him a co lyricist. It's kinda wild cause I was just reading 'Baby Girl' by Kathy Iandoli and the recounts of some of that stuff is horrific and disgusting," Shebib added of the biography of Aaliyah, who was previously married to Kelly.

"Then I saw this post and just had to say something because to think we would stand beside that guy or write with him is just incredibly disgusting," he said.

40's response to the R. Kelly credit comes just a few days after Certified Lover Boy broke the record for most-streamed album in a single day on Spotify along with most-streamed album of the year on Apple Music.

The album features musicians such as JAY-Z, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Ty Dolla $ign, Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, and Project Pat. Nicki Minaj also performs a spoken-word cameo on "Papi's Home."

The album marks the Canadian native's first full-length project following Scorpion. Drake previously released other new material in between, including 2020's Dark Lane Demo Tapes and the EP Scary Hours 2, which was released in March.

Along with Kelly credit, Drake also sampled other artists on CLB as well. The fifth song on the LP, "Love All" featuring JAY-Z, begins with a sampling of the "Life After Death Intro" from Notorious B.I.G.'s 1997 album, while "Way 2 Sexy" plays with the 1991 hit "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred.

Last month, Kelly began trial in Brooklyn, New York, on federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prosecutors allege the R&B singer-songwriter and his team — including managers, bodyguards and assistants — "traveled throughout the United States and abroad to perform at concert venues…and to recruit women and girls to engage in illegal sexual activity with Kelly" as far back as 1999.

According to the indictment, the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer allegedly required his victims to follow "numerous rules" in which they "were not permitted to leave their room without receiving permission, including to eat or go to the bathroom," were "not permitted to look at other men" and "were required to call Kelly 'Daddy.'"

The indictment also accused Kelly of "engaging in sexual activity with girls under 18 years old," failing to disclose "a sexually transmitted disease Kelly had contracted" and producing child pornography by requesting that underage girls send him photographs.

Kelly, who has been in custody since 2019, has maintained his innocence and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

BeyoncΓ© Lends Her Vocals to Soundtrack of New Will Smith Film, “King Richard”!

BeyoncΓ© will lend her vocals to the “King Richard” soundtrack for a new record titled “Be Alive.”

The forthcoming film is based on Richard Williams, the father of sports icons Venus and Serena Williams, as he tirelessly coaches his daughter to tennis supremacy. The film, which stars Will Smith in the lead role, debuted at the Telluride Film Festival recently, where it was met with positive reviews. “Be Alive” played during the ending credits.

The song was written by Bey and former The Voice contestant and Roc Nation signee Dixson, who penned the song exclusively for the film. The record could be featured on the second trailer for the film, which will arrive in theaters and HBO Max on November 19th.

Elsewhere in Bey’s universe, the Queen recently told Harper’s Bazaar that her highly-anticipated next album is in the works. Fans on social media are convinced that the “Halo” singer will be unveiling the album this month, though her team has not confirmed this rumor. What has been established, however, is Bey’s appearance on the forthcoming Isley Brothers album.

Former Marine Sharpshooter Kills 4, Injures 1, Says ‘God Told Him to Do it’!

A former United States Marine sharpshooter who fatally shot four people and wounded an 11-year-old girl admitted to the shooting, saying, “God told him to do it.”

Bryan Riley, 33, is now facing four counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, arson, armed burglary, and shooting into a building. The suspect was ordered held without bond during his first court appearance Monday.

According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Riley’s girlfriend told investigators that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and struggled mentally for weeks. He said to her that he directly communicated with God.

“She said he had PTSD. ‘I’ve seen him depressed. I’ve never seen him violent,’ she said,” said Judd. “But a week ago today, meaning last Sunday, he did security at a church in Orlando. And he came home, and he said, you know, God spoke to him, and now he can talk directly to God. And she said, ‘I’ve never seen that kind of behavior.'”

Riley broke into two Lakeland, Florida homes early Sunday, killing four people. Police have only identified one victim, Justice Gleason, 40. Also killed were a 33-year-old mother and her 3-month-old baby. The baby’s grandmother was found dead in a second home on the property. The family’s pet dog, Diogi, was also fatally shot.

An officer was able to run into the home and save an 11-year-old girl. She suffered seven gunshot wounds and was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for surgery. The victim is expected to survive.

Riley first made contact with the family on Saturday when he randomly stopped by their home. He told Gleason God sent him to prevent a suicide, and police were called. By the time law enforcement responded, Riley had left.

Riley returned to the home at about 4:30 a.m. when a lieutenant heard popping noises and alerted the department of an active shooter. Upon arrival, they found Riley’s truck on fire and Riley outside, unarmed.

He ran back into the house and began firing. Officers heard “a woman scream and a baby whimper,” Judd said. Officers tried to gain access to the house, but it was barricaded. They located Riley in full body armor in the backyard, and gunfire was exchanged. Judd said “at least dozens if not hundreds” of rounds were fired.

He retreated into the house until a helicopter alerted the authorities he was coming back out. He had been shot once and surrendered to police.

Riley was treated for his injuries and released. There is no known connection to the victims, and the shooting is still under investigation.
