Venus Williams for Cosmopolitan Magazine, October 2021!

Venus Williams is the icon we all need right now. At 41, she’s now the inverse of the age she was when she first went pro. That’s almost three decades of excellence. From the tennis court to her (many, many) businesses, Venus plays win. For Cosmopolitan’s October 2021 cover story, writer Sylvia Obell shares a super-inside look at what’s next for Venus Williams. Joined on Cosmo’s cover by her Havanese, Harold Reginald Williams, Venus is doing everything—love included—exactly the way she wants to.

On the next generation of young Black female athletes who are speaking out and fighting back: “I admire everyone who stands up for what is right, which isn’t easy. It takes strength, courage, and vulnerability. I love to see this next generation of players be willing and open to do that regardless of the cost to them.”

On the magnitude of her impact when she emerged on the national stage in the late ’90s: “I didn’t see myself as different. I saw myself as a great player. I thought I was better, that I could win.”

On being raised as a champion with integrity and being an unflappable warrior on the court: “We’re like gladiators out there, literally. You go out there with your lance and it’s just you.”

On learning how to cope with the pressure of being a world-famous athlete: “As you grow up and mature, you realize you don’t have to be in any situation you find disrespectful. You can let people know what you find disrespectful. It doesn’t have to be yelling or screaming. I’m not a combative person. I’m never going to let any situation change that, because I want to look back and know that I stayed true to who I am. So come. Come for me if you want to, but you won’t come again.”

On advocating for equal earnings between women and men, and launching the privilege tax initiative: “It’s not about the money, but it is about the money, right? Those who have money have power. When a woman is in power—when she has finances, equal opportunity—she’s able to influence her life, the lives of other women, and the lives of her family in a way that allows her to be free and equal.”

On not feeling influenced by the societal pressures to settle down: “I have a lot of friends who don’t believe me when I say that I like my life and I don’t want to change it for any reason. I’m not desperate and they don’t believe me. They say things like, ‘You’re going to miss your window.’ I’m like, ‘Please, relax. You might feel this way, but I don’t. I promise you I don’t.’”

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Talks About Her Divorce and Sharing Her Life on RHOA in Her Memoir!

Porsha Williams is ready to share "my story and my testimony" in her upcoming memoir, The Pursuit of Porsha: How I Grew Into My Power and Purpose, which hits stores on November 16. The book will provide new insight into the life of The Real Housewives of Atlanta's cast member. Ahead of the release, Porsha shared a preview of the release with fans.

In the memoir's introduction, she writes, "If you thought you knew my life after watching me on reality TV, get in and buckle your seat belt, because it’s about to get really real. After starring season after season on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, I felt there was still so much I never got a chance to say in those confessionals or never got to express at the reunions between throwing shade and receipts. So I’ve opened up my life here, page by page, to share my truth, my strength, and my pursuit of the real Porsha."

In a preview of the first chapter of the memoir, which Porsha shared with fans last week, she writes about emotional topics like her childhood, her parent's divorce, her relationship with her siblings, as well as her emotional struggles throughout her life.

She also touches on her own divorce from Kordell Stewart. In the first chapter, she reflects on attending a Bravo upfront event "just two weeks after my ex-husband, former NFL player Kordell Stewart, completely blindsided me by filing for divorce after only two years of marriage (don’t worry, there’s more on that later)."

From there, she elaborates more on what it felt like to have to deal with it all in the public eye, and how her sister Lauren Williams was there to offer her support and advice.

Tiffany & Company began its “About Love” campaign with Beyoncé in Jay-Z in late August. In one ad, the musicians pose in front of a long-unseen Jean-Michel Baquiat painting titled Equals Pi. Friends of Basquiat have criticized the painting’s usage, but representatives for Tiffany have defended the campaign, stating: “The beauty of art is that it can be interpreted in a number of ways. All important works provoke thought and create a dialogue. Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Equals Pi is no different, and we are pleased to be able to share this work with the world.”

Chris Brown’s Security Files Battery Report After Man Spits On Guard!

Another day, another police visit to Chris Brown’s home — but this time the R&B performer isn’t at the center of the drama.

A member of Brown’s security team filed a battery report against a trespasser who allegedly spit in his face, TMZ reported Monday.

Law enforcement sources told the outlet that the incident occurred outside the singer’s San Fernando Valley, Calif., home last week after the guard flashed a light in the man’s face while trying to determine whether he was a guest or a trespasser.

After allegedly hocking a loogie in the guard’s direction, the suspect rode off into the night.

The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to make any arrests in the case.

A rep for the “She Ain’t You” crooner didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

While this particular incident didn’t involve Brown, 32, directly, he’s had various run-ins with the law over the past few months (and years).

In June, the LAPD confirmed that the “Look at Me Now” singer was under investigation for allegedly striking a woman during a heated exchange at his house.

Brown appeared to address the reports of the alleged altercation in an Instagram Story post that read, “YALL SO DAMN [cap emoji],” with “cap” being slang for a lie.

The alleged incident was reminiscent of the Grammy winner’s 2009 arrest for physically assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna. He pleaded guilty to felony assault and completed probation in 2015 in addition to community service and domestic violence counseling.

In May, cops were again called to the “Loyal” singer’s house to shut down his wild 32nd birthday party.

Jeff Bezos, Jay-Z are potential suitors to buy The Denver Broncos!

The Broncos have an ownership situation that, if not settled among the family members of the late Pat Bowlen, will result in a 2022 sale. If the team is sold, two potential buyers have emerged.

Via A.J. Perez of FrontOfficeSports.com, a pair of names “keep popping up” as new owners of the Broncos: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z.

The expected purchase prices will be $4 billion. It’s unclear whether Jay-Z would have the financial wherewithal to personally hold enough equity and also have the resources to run the team. At an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, that likely wouldn’t be enough for him to be the controlling owner of a team that sells for $4 billion; by rule, he’d need to personally purchase 30 percent of the franchise.

He could still be a key part of an ownership group, the public face and voice while the person with the money remains relatively anonymous. That’s the role Jon Bon Jovi would have played in the group that tried to buy the Bills, for example.

Franchise values are expected to skyrocket in this age of legalized gambling. For years, Bezos has been linked to the NFL. Given his massive holdings and the mushrooming cost of owning and operating a team, he’s one of the few in the world who could pull it off without even blinking.

Chicago Mom Allegedly Shot 12-Year-Old Son Dead in Rage Over Missing Memory Card!

A Chicago mom fatally shot her 12-year-old son in the head on Saturday morning in a rage over a missing memory card, prosecutors allege.

Fallon Harris, 37, was charged with first-degree murder after the death of her son, Kaden Ingram, at their South Chicago home. Kaden was found unresponsive on the kitchen floor with multiple bullet wounds to his head, and prosecutors alleged in court Sunday that Harris was caught on a home security system firing the second and fatal shot.

In a Sunday court hearing, Cook County State’s Attorney Eugene Wood alleged the incident began mid-morning Saturday when Harris confronted her son over the whereabouts of a digital memory card she had taken out of her car Friday night. Wood didn’t say what was on the memory card.

According to prosecutors, the situation escalated when Kaden told his mom he didn’t know where the memory card was. Harris allegedly pointed a silver revolver at the boy and fired a non-fatal shot to his head. Wood said that audio evidence recovered from the home’s security system revealed that the first gunshot left the 12-year-old boy “conscious and crying.”

Prosecutors alleged that, while Kaden was lying injured on the floor, Harris took a phone call, then she returned to demand the memory card again. In an incident Wood claimed was clearly caught on the security camera, Kaden told his mom again that he didn’t know where the memory card was, and then she fired a second, fatal shot at the 12-year-old child.

At that point, Wood claims Harris called two family members and admitted that she had shot her son over the missing memory card. Those relatives called the police and the boy’s father, who met officers at the crime scene. When they entered, Harris allegedly confessed to the shooting.

She now faces a single count of first-degree murder.

Lavell Ingram, the boy’s father and Harris’ estranged husband, told the Chicago Sun-Times that there have been concerns over her mental state for some time. Ingram said that Harris had attended her first ever therapy session on Friday, just one day before the alleged murder.

“We didn’t know that this was going to transpire,” the boy’s dad told the paper. “We had told her to get help. I guess it finally reached its boiling point... She loved [Kaden] more than anything in the world.”

Ingram said Kaden loved pro wrestling, video games, and history, before telling the Sun-Times: “I’m losing a young god. I’m losing a young genius... I’m losing everything I had in this world. Everything.”

Wood noted that Harris—who has been working as a city laborer—had been displaying what he described as “paranoid behavior” in the months before the alleged murder. In the hours following her arrest, Wood said Harris broke down in tears and asked: “Can I talk to my momma?”

Ingram said of his estranged wife: “I don’t even think she understands what happened.” If Harris is found guilty, she faces a possible life sentence.

Sharon Osbourne Says She Suffered Psychological Trauma After Exit From 'The Talk,' Underwent Ketamine Therapy!

Sharon Osbourne is still upset with how her controversial departure from The Talk played out, blasting cancel culture and her former colleagues in a new interview with DailyMailTV.

Osbourne exited the CBS show earlier this year following a heated on-air discussion with co-host Sheryl Underwood. Osbourne was defending friend Piers Morgan amid widespread criticism for his coverage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

"It was as if I had gone in there with a machine gun and threatened to kill somebody," Osbourne explained. "It wasn't like I was coming in with T-shirts, with horrible slogans. I didn't come in with a white hood, I don't tell jokes about religion or color."

She added, "It was a freedom of speech matter. It was pure freedom of speech. A journalist friend of mine who wrote something that people didn't like and then a few crazies out there go — 'You must be racist, that's why you're saying it' — about my friend Piers. It's like, come on."

The Talk went on hiatus after Osbourne and Underwood's uncomfortable exchange. Osbourne was then accused of racially charged behavior on set, all of which she denied. Osbourne says she was forced to hire 24/7 security due to death threats against her, her family and their animals.

"I definitely went through a difficult patch at the beginning. I found it embarrassing. The humiliation that people would think that I might be a racist," she explained.

Osbourne's friend and former co-host of The Talk, Sara Gilbert, apparently suggested she try ketamine therapy. (Ketamine treatments are sometimes used by psychiatrists to treat patients with depression.)

"I went through three months of therapy," she noted. "I had ketamine treatment and I got it all out. All the tears and everything that I felt, you know. All of that, it's gone."

Osbourne believes she was set up by a CBS executive who fed Underwood a question to ask during the infamous March 10 episode. (The network says it found no evidence of this during its investigation.)

"What would you say to people who may feel that while you're standing by [Piers], it appears you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don't agree?" Underwood asked.

"I feel like I'm about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist," Osbourne replied on-air. She also shouted at Underwood "not to cry" because "if anyone should be crying, it should be me."

Osbourne told The Daily Mail, "They all knew the question and they all knew what was going down. I felt totally betrayed."

"We had a disagreement and I told [Underwood] she shouldn't be crying, it should be me that should be crying and that didn't go down well," Osbourne added. "Then in the commercial break, she wouldn't talk to me. I was begging her to talk to me and she wouldn't, and basically I said, go f*** yourself."

"I would say that to any one of my friends," she added. "When you say it to a friend, it's different than saying it to somebody, a stranger. If you can't get real with somebody who you've worked alongside for 10 years, then then you don't have a friendship, and that's the way I look at it."

Osbourne hasn't spoken to Underwood since the incident and said it's likely that they will never talk again. She believes her co-hosts violated a "secret pact" they made one month prior at Carrie Ann Inaba's house not to ambush each other on-air.

"To leave me for 20 minutes on live TV ... on live TV ... unprepared, not produced, not knowing what's going on," Osbourne recalled. "Wait, where's their apology to me? They could have cut at any time and gone to a commercial break, and why didn't they cut?"

Osbourne called the whole thing a "set up."

"They didn't cut because they liked the controversy and they liked that everybody would be talking about this because they needed something for the show that was going into the toilet," she alleged. "So they thought, well, she's got the biggest following. Let's go for her."

She continued, "I felt totally betrayed, not protected by CBS. I felt used. I felt like an old shoe... They didn't care. It was a set up and it was set up by one of the executives."

CBS stands by the same statement the company issued in March.

"Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk," it read. "The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts."

Osbourne believes she's the victim of cancel culture, but she has no plans to slink out of the spotlight.

"It's like, f*** you missus, you don't know me and you don't know the full story," she quipped. "Where is the forgiveness? Where is a second chance? So you say something wrong. You're not threatening somebody, but you say something wrong. You're out, you are out."

Ja Rule responds to rumor that 50 Cent might appear during Verzuz battle with Fat Joe!

“That would be the dumbest thing ever,” Ja said of a potential 50 Cent cameo.

Fat Joe and Ja Rule’s highly anticipated Verzuz battle goes down tomorrow (Sept. 14) and the trash talk is heating up. As has become customary for the live-streamed showdowns, the pair began trading shots on social media over the weekend.

“Everybody know you King Kong. Everybody know you got all the hits, but I’ma have to drag you,” Joey Crack addressed Ja Rule in an Instagram video on Thursday (Sept. 9). “I’m about to bring you into the projects, Trinity Ave. Y’all must have forgot ‘cause I ain’t forget… You my brother. I love you, but I’ma have to get you up out that cardigan sweater.”

Ja Rule says he’s going to “drag” Fat Joe on Verzuz stage

“I’m comfortable there. But I’ma drag you on that stage,” Ja clapped back the next day (Sept. 10). “See, you have to perform them records. Word for word. Bar for bar. I’m gonna make you sweat out that motherfuckin’ Versace, ni**a. That Hermes, oh yeah, you gon’ sweat that out.”

The playful back-and-forth continued over the weekend, but now Ja Rule has responded to rumors that 50 Cent might attend the battle. According to TMZ, which interviewed the “Mesmerize” rapper on Monday (Sept. 13), 50 could pop up at the Madison Square Garden event. Last year, fans clamored to see the two foes take each other on in a Verzuz battle, but 50 declined.

Fat Joe and Ja Rule will face off in the next Verzuz

“He had his shot,” Ja told TMZ. “I wanted him in the dog house first. He didn’t want to come to the dog house. So, me and [Joey] Crack are going to put on for the city and do it right and put on a beautiful, beautiful show and it’s going to be amazing. But you know, me and Crack are both competitive. It’s going to be a fight, a great show for people.”

Ja further said that 50 cameoing in Tuesday’s battle “would be the dumbest thing ever.”

“You didn’t want to get in the gauntlet with me, but you want to make a guest appearance? Come on—bring it on, baby!” he said. “I ain’t fearing nothing, yo. If that happens, that just means I have to give both of them that work.”

Watch Ja Rule’s full interview with TMZ below. The pair’s Verzuz battle will be broadcast at 6 p.m. PST/ 9 p.m. EST from New York City tomorrow.

The mansion also has a 2-story guest house with a spacious living room and its own killer views.

Britney Spears' Dad Jamie Is 'Finding a Lawyer' to Work on Prenup After Sam Asghari Engagement!

Britney Spears is getting ready to get married and her dad is reportedly preparing to protect her fortune.

via People: After getting engaged to her longtime boyfriend over the weekend, Spears, 39, and her father Jamie — who currently serves as her estate conservator and petitioned to end her conservatorship last week — are “already working” on getting a prenuptial agreement in place before the singer ties the knot.

“Britney is already working on a prenup. She understands that this is necessary,” a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE.

A second source explains that Jamie’s role as her estate conservator requires that he be involved in the process.

“Jamie is working on finding a lawyer to do the prenup. Because it involves finances and he’s still officially Britney’s estate conservator, he is figuring out the details,” a Britney source explains. “It has to be a divorce lawyer who handles the prenup.”

After fans — including Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer — suggested that Spears get a prenup ahead of their wedding, Asghari, 27, joked that he’d be signing an “ironclad” agreement to protect his own belongings.

“Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup,” he wrote along with two crying-laughing emojis. “Of course, we’re getting an ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”

The details come a day after Spears and Asghari revealed that they got engaged after nearly five years of dating.

“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,” said Asghari’s manager Brandon Cohen, adding that Spears’ new ring was designed by N.Y.C. jeweler Roman Malayev.

In a sweet video, Spears — who a source told PEOPLE is “ecstatic” about the proposal — showed off her new rock with Asghari by her side. “Yes!” she tells Asghari after he asks if she likes her new bling.

“I can’t f—ing believe it ????????!!!!!!” she captioned her own post.

In a March interview with Forbes, the Iranian-born actor opened up about the beginning of his relationship with Spears and admitted he was ready to take the next step in his career — and relationship.

“My priorities in life are to remain humble and understand where I came from and where I’m going,” he told Forbes at the time. “I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting. I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don’t mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad.”

A friend of the couple also told PEOPLE earlier this year that Asghari was also ready to settle down.

“He’s ready for marriage and kids with Britney and is serious about the relationship. She wants to take that next step and have that full life with him,” said the friend. “As a couple they’ve hidden how they’ve really felt even from people close to them because they were anxious and scared, but now it’s all out there.”

Kanye West has unfollowed Kim Kardashian on Instagram!

Kanye West has officially unfollowed Kim Kardashian on Instagram, after the pair revealed their plan to divorce earlier this year.

Previously, Kim had been the only person Kanye followed on Insta, but eagle-eyed fans have noticed that's no longer the case. Instead, Kanye now follows 14 accounts, with Kim noticeably missing from the list along with the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family.

Kim, on the other hand, still follows Kanye on the app - and she's recently been showing a lot of support for his new album Donda online too.

However, it looks like Kanye's change to his following list could all be part of the campaign for his latest music release. Last month, Kanye deleted all posts from his Instagram account before following up with a single post featuring a clip from the music video for new song 'Come to Life'.

Plus, after Kanye changed his Insta profile picture to a simple black circle, it seems the 14 accounts that he follows have also done the same.

Solange Knowles, basketball player Justin Laboy and clothing brand Fashion Nova are all among the accounts still followed by Kanye, all sharing the same profile picture - so it looks like they could have something to do with the campaign for new album Donda too.

Kanye's unfollowing comes after Kim officially filed for divorce back in February, with Kanye then responding to the petition in April.

Kim opened up about her reasons for divorcing Kanye in the final episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, telling mum Kris Jenner, "I never thought I was lonely, and I always thought that's totally fine, I can just have my kids, my husband moves from state to state and I'm on this ride with him and I was OK with that."

This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

"And then after turning 40 this year I realised no, I don't want a husband that lives in a completely different state to me. I thought, 'oh my God, that's when we're getting along the best'. But that is sad to me and that's not what I want. I want someone that we have the same shows in common, I want someone that wants to work out with me," she continued.

New York Assemblywoman Hermelyn Says She Will Honor Actor Michael K. Williams with Prison Reform Bill!

New York Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn plans to honor actor Michael K. Williams with a prison reform bill. Williams, who unexpectedly passed away on Sept. 6, was a strong advocate for prison reform.

The actor was also the ACLU ambassador for ending mass incarceration. Williams released a statement when he was named the ACLU ambassador in 2014.

“Our criminal justice system has swallowed up too many people I love, and I’ve seen it lay waste to entire neighborhoods,” he said. “This country is locking up people for too long, and for things like mental illness and drug dependency. We are at a critical moment in this country, and I am proud to join the ACLU in the fight to make mass incarceration a thing of the past.”

Assemblywoman Hermelyn is the representative for Williams’ Brooklyn neighborhood, East Flatbush. Hermerlyn’s staff told TMZ that the prison reform bill will focus on young people, Blacks and Latinos as she noted that a disproportionate amount of prisoners are non-white. The goal of the bill is to lower the prison population in the state of New York. Scheduled for Sept. 12, the back-to-school event will now be in honor of Williams annually.

Assemblywoman Hermelyn also plans to honor the actor by advocating for more funding to run at-risk youth, cultural and art programs in the area.

Williams was working with fellow “The Wire” actor Jamie Hector and the assemblywoman’s husband, Edu Hermelyn, on a project in Flatbush before he passed away. The trio planned to give school supplies to families in the neighborhood before Williams’ death.

Williams was found in his apartment in New York. Officials suspect that the actor died from an overdose of heroin tainted with fentanyl. Fentanyl is up to 100 times stronger than morphine and is sometimes used by dealers to disguise the laced drug as potent heroin to unsuspecting addicts. Williams was only 54. The actor had been open about his struggles with addiction prior to his death.

Williams was known for starring in numerous television shows and films, including “Bessie,” “The Wire,” “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “Triple 9.”

The assemblywoman plans to discuss the bill with Williams’ family at an appropriate time.

Florida Teens Sentenced to 21 Days in Juvenile Detention After They Were Caught Planning a School Massacre!

Two Lee County teens appeared in front of a judge yesterday after being sent to jail on Saturday for planning a school massacre.

Phillip Byrd, 14, and Connor Pruett, 13, will be placed in secure juvenile prison for 21 days.

According to reports, the teens were detained on Thursday and held for a mental health assessment after a Harns Marsh Middle School resource officer was informed of a student who had a gun in his bag.

No gun was found on either student; however, the officer did reveal that the students discussed the school shooting over lunch. According to police, witnesses were questioned, and a map of the school’s surveillance cameras was found.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno claimed the two were planning a school massacre similar to the Columbine in Colorado and Parkland in Florida.

On Sunday, a judge stated that he believed the two teenagers committed a juvenile offense.
