The Daily Buzz For Nov 10

Michael Fassbender covers GQ Magazine.
Unf. While I’ve spent most of 2016 falling out of love with Michael Fassbender, I totally lingered on this British GQ editorial. This is quite literally the best Fassy has looked in a few years. I’ve said before that I don’t mind the ginger beard, but his current haircut was not working for me… until this shoot. I think that’s his issue: he needs a professional hairstylist to muss up his hair. In any case, it’s working. Fassy covered the December issue to promote… you name it. The Light Between Oceans, Trespass Against Us and Assassin’s Creed all came out/are coming out this fall and winter. So Fassy tried to be extra charming and quote-baity in the interview. Some highlights:

On his name still being mentioned as a contender for James Bond: “Bond! Is this rumour still going round?” It is, very much so, I tell him. “You would have thought I was out of the bookies by now.” So come on, once and for all, would he consider playing James Bond? “To be honest, no. As an acting role, I think Daniel has done such a cracking job in this age group.”
When told that Daniel Craig is a decade older than him: “Well, look at me! I look about 50! No, I think the [Bond] franchise needs something new.”

His idea for a Bond reboot: “What about we start the film back in Sandhurst, army training, rather than on a yacht, or he’s in the Middle East on an op and gets thrown in the brig for insubordination. He’s going to get court-martialed…Well, I have thought about it a lot. The film could start off in Sandhurst and how he became a ‘double 0′. M could walk in and say to him, ‘Bond, there’s a 00 project but it’s going to be totally off the book, black ops, and you’ve got to go into prison undetected.’ I just love Bond. Doesn’t everyone? I grew up with him. It’s always a fun conversation to have. But Bond should be someone in their early twenties.”
Whether Ryan Gosling should play Bond: “Sure, why not? I always thought Bond should be British, but let’s get an American in. Or maybe someone like Jack O’Connell would be good? Or even better, how about Jane Bond? A woman. One thing is for sure, it won’t be anyone on the bookies’ lists. It never is.”

On Donald Trump: “I think people are angry and that’s why Trump got such a huge following. They feel disenfranchised and this is their way to strike back. But is he the answer they are looking for? Feels to me like he’s someone who got us into this mess in the first place, with the bankers and so on – he’s just part of the problem.”

[From British GQ]
Fassy talking about “bankers” gives me a queasy feeling, not so much about Fassy but about the coded, dog-whistle anti-Semitic language Trump used during the campaign. Whenever Trump mentioned “bankers,” it was like a siren to a certain segment that “the Jewish people are to blame.” But I agree with Fassy, Trump was and is part of the problem.

As for what he says about Bond… he has thought about it a lot. I’d still like to see Idris Elba take a whack at it, but Fassy’s idea of an origin story isn’t bad at all. I’m not sure it would be interesting to go all the way back to Sandhurst, but maybe to Bond’s early days in the British Navy? That’s part of the Bond canon, isn’t it? That Bond was a naval officer or he worked naval intelligence? And I do appreciate that Fassy is promoting the idea of a female Bond. Why not? So many dudes are butthurt about the very idea though.

#RHoA: BLOOP! NeNe Leakes Forced to Cancel a String of Shows
Over the weekend former reality star NeNe Leakes went ballistic on an audience member on the DC stop of the 'So Nasty So Rude'
One would think NeNe would be nicer to her paying fans since there obviously aren't that many of them...

Last week NeNe quietly canceled three shows without notice, a sure sign of low ticket sales.

#EMPIRE: Fox Plots 'Empire' Season 2: Lee Daniels Courts Oprah, Pushes for Less "Opulence"
TV's hottest show is about to get a big Emmy push as executives discuss plans for guest stars, season two timing and a potential tour.
This story first appeared in the March 20 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
Every Wednesday afternoon, FOX Broadcasting's David Madden offers himself a reminder: "Gravity exists," he says. "This is going to be the week that Empire levels out or maybe even falls a bit."

But for more than two months, the newly installed entertainment president's cautionary message hasn't proved necessary. Despite pre-launch predictions of a 1.8 rating in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic, the hip-hop-themed drama bowed to a 3.8 in early January — and has grown more than 50 percent during the eight weeks since, a greater increase than any other new broadcast series in a decade. Empire's March 4 episode notched a staggering 5.8 rating (14.3 million total viewers), making it the top-rated drama on broadcast television. Now, as the series co-creator Lee Daniels describes as "black Dynasty" is set to wrap its first season March 18, the fourth-place network — down nearly 25 percent this season, even with Empire — is shifting its focus to sustaining the show's megahit status.

New Music: Lloyd Feat. 2 Chainz – Tru (Remix)
Through it all, Lloyd just wants to keep it “Tru.”

The R&B crooner’s introspective comeback single, just got a little bit deeper with the official remix featuring 2 Chainz.
The ATL rap star kicks off the track with a few thought-provoking questions. “I want you to look in the mirror right now. I want you to ask yourself, ‘Are you happy with what you see? Are you happy of what you’ve become and where you’re going in life?’,” asks Chainz.
Then, he recalls less-privileged days without heat, when it was hard to get rest. “To my loved ones, still can’t sleep at night / Need an Ambien, an ambulance with lights,” he raps while Lloyd keeps his original, sincere verses about his time away from music.

Lloyd is currently prepping for the release of his Tru EP, which is due out Dec. 9. Take a listen to the title track’s remix HERE

Michael Ealy Reveals He & His Wife Welcomed A Baby Girl,
Michael Ealy and his wife Khatira Rafiqzada welcomed a baby girl under the radar. Yep, they’ve just expanded their family to a family of four.
Back in 2014, the “Secret and Lies” star and his wife welcomed their son, Elijah (now 4), under the radar. And they’ve successfully done it again. Michael and Kerry Washington certainly take the crowns for keeping their personal life private.

The Hollywood actor stops by the “Steve Harvey Show” today to reveal the big news. Michael and Steve have a dad-to-dad moment dishing on being fathers to their daughters.
Michael gushed, “I just discovered a whole new love. I’ve never, ever felt this way before. I was wondering if I could love another child as much as I love my son. What I realized within hours of my daughter being born was that not only do I love her just as much, if not more. It’s a special kind of protective love.”
The 43-year-old star revealed he’s scared of the day his daughter will walk down the aisle to get married. He said if he’s blessed enough to experience that moment (his daughter getting married), he would be extremely grateful. He also pointed out that he has played several crazy characters that have prepared him to deal with the boys when his daughter starts dating. Ha!

Congrats to Michael and his wife! Michael's episode airs today. Check your local listings for the time.

A new episode of "Secret and Lies" comes on Sunday at 9/8c on ABC. He's also starring in the new season of "Being Mary Jane" premiering in January 2017.

Patti LaBelle gets her own cooking show on the Cooking Channel
For Wynnewood's own Patti LaBelle, sweet potato pies were only the beginning. The Godmother of Soul will soon host her own cooking show.
Dubbed Patti LaBelle’s Place, the six-episode cooking series is set to debut on the Cooking Channel at 11 a.m. Dec. 3.
The show will air in two-episode blocks each week, and will feature a strong roster of celebrity guests, including rapper 50 Cent, Oprah BFF Gayle King, musician Kirk Franklin, gospel singer Erica Campbell, stylist Joe Zee, and others.
Those guests will help LaBelle cook some of her signature dishes, including fried chicken and catfish, along with more playful dishes like the Philadelphia native’s “sauteéd green beans a La Bella” and “Patti’s Secret Homemade Salad Dressing,” according to a release.

The show takes its name from last year's Patti LaBelle's Place, a special the singer hosted for the Cooking Channel following the viral success of her sweet potato pie line, thanks to a video from YouTube entertainer James Wright Chanel. LaBelle also hosted a pie-focused special for the Cooking Channel last year, Patti LaBelle's Holiday Pies. Chanel appeared as a guest.

“I want to taste Patti live,” Wright said in last year's viral YouTube video before breaking out into song. “You turn into Patti after eating this.”
Following the success of her pies, LaBelle expanded her ready-made baked goods line to include several styles of cakes. In August, according to CNN, the line, which is offered at Walmart, added to its offerings apple cobbler, peach cobbler, and berry cobbler, along with apple pecan cake and sweet potato loaf.

Rihanna Gets To Work On ‘Oceans Eight’ Set In NYC
Rihanna is busy shooting scenes for the upcoming Oceans 11 spin-off, Oceans Eight. Still donning her faux locs, the Bajan beauty joined actresses Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett to film new scenes for the all-female flick
We’re still not exactly sure what role RiRi will play in the film, but these new pics offer a little insight.
It appears Rihanna will star as some sort of tech savy character as she was spotted wearing a pair of headphones while sitting down on a bench with a laptop in her lap.

Hmm...a hacker perhaps?
