The Philadelphia Eagles are your NFC EAST CHAMPIONS!
YES!!!! Seasons come down to games in the NFL, and games come down to plays, and plays come down to seconds, and sometimes slices of seconds. And there we all were at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, slicing seconds deep into the night.
Could the Eagles’ season really come down to this?
With 2 minutes left, the Eagles were punting the ball away to the Dallas Cowboys while only holding a two-point lead. It was not supposed to be this way. The Eagles were a touchdown favorite on the road against the Cowboys and their backup quarterback, Kyle Orton. This was to be their moment, their statement that the NFC East was going to belong to them, not just in coach Chip Kelly’s first season as coach but into the future.
The statement was supposed to be as loud and as bold as the Eagles’ offense has been all season. That was the expectation. That the NFL routinely crushes expectations like soft fruit was barely acknowledged.
But there they were, punting -- punting and hoping that the defense could hold. It was 24-22 and the building was in full roar. It was 24-22 and the loser was going home for the winter.
And then it happened. With 1:43 left, Orton made the big mistake. He threw behind receiver Miles Austin on a pass over the middle and Eagles cornerback Brandon Boykin stepped up and made the interception that effectively ended the game and put the Eagles into the playoffs.
They are NFC East champions in Kelly’s first season. They are there, in large part, because of a defense that couldn’t stop anybody in the first month of the season. They are set for a Saturday night matchup at Lincoln Financial Field against the New Orleans Saints. They have already done more this year than any of us expected, or had a right to expect.
It will be remembered, whatever happens, as an undeniable success. If the Eagles ever get their hands on the Lombardi Trophy, it will be recalled with fondness as the springboard for a franchise.
But will they all remember that they spent almost the entire night just waiting to exhale?
Well into the fourth quarter, and the Eagles were leading by only a sliver, by 17-16. Quarterback Nick Foles had already lost a fumble in the third quarter that gave Dallas three points. The Eagles had cost themselves more points later in the quarter when Foles was stopped on a quarterback sneak from fourth-and-goal at the 1. And the whole thing was just hanging there, with neither Eagles line winning the battle and Orton refusing to make the killer mistake.
Then the Eagles went to their running game in an attempt to create some breathing space. The drive ended up being 11 plays long. The Eagles ran on nine of the plays. LeSean McCoy, who earlier in the game broke the franchise’s single-season rushing record, did the heavy work and Bryce Brown got the glory, the 6-yard touchdown run with 6:09 remaining. That put the Eagles ahead by 24-16. It re-established some semblance of order -- for about a minute or so.
Because, just like that, Dallas scored again -- on a 32-yard pass to Dez Bryant, a play where Bryant slipped a tackle by Eagles safety Patrick Chung. The Cowboys went for the two-point conversion, but the pass was incomplete to Bryant. If it hadn’t been, they still might be playing.
The whole night was like that, just incredibly uncomfortable. At halftime, the scoreboard said the Eagles were leading by a touchdown, 17-10. There was unease in the number, understandably. There was no denying that Orton, filling in for the injured Tony Romo, was better than anticipated. In the first half, the Eagles never touched him -- literally. The pass rush was timid, blitzing was ineffective, and Orton proved himself a professional who could stand in the pocket and deliver the ball when given time. And, at the same time, the Eagles were having trouble protecting Foles at their accustomed level.
The truth was, the difference in the game was two turnovers that had linebacker Mychal Kendricks’ fingerprints all over them. The first was a forced fumble, when teammate DeMeco Ryans shove him into Dallas running back Demarco Murray. The second was an interception of a pass, thrown behind tight end Jason Witten, that clattered off of Witten’s hands and into Kendricks’.
But then, as the third quarter unfolded, the unease about the Eagles grew. It was there until the end -- building, suffocating unease.
It was there until Brandon Boykin made Orton pay for that final mistake.

Robin Roberts Comes OUT and publicly acknowledges girlfriend
After an incredibly difficult year that included battling a rare blood disorder called MDS and receiving a successful bone marrow transplant, Robin Roberts is looking back on 2013 with gratitude.
In an end-of-year Facebook post on Sunday, Dec. 29th, the 'GMA' host writes:
"At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude. I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health," she wrote. "I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together. I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold. On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too."
Though the two have been together for 10 years, PEOPLE reports, this is the first time she is publicly revealing the very special woman who has been by her side in sickness and in health: Amber Laign.

Rihanna CRUISES Through Barbados In A High-Waisted Bikini
The Roc's princess is still living it up back home in Barbados. And still making us crazy jealous of her sun, sand and fun:
A photographer took snaps of Rihanna on the beach as she prepared to take a cruise around Barbados.
The "Pour It Up" singer rocked a power blue 40s-style high-waisted bikini bottom with a light blue top and denim shirt.
She and her friends took a ferry from the beach to a larger coastguard vessel that took them around the island.
Lookin' hot as usual. Rihanna was recently announced at the face of luxury brand Balmain for their Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign. Navy fans can expect to see the entire campaign when it's released in January 2014.
Celebs Giving Back: Naya Rivera, Big Sean & Kim Kardashian Visit Children’s Hospital
Giving season continues this holiday season for some children patients at LA Children’s Hospital.
A few families spent some quality time with a few celebrities on Christmas Eve. Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner visited the hospital, along with singer/actor Naya Rivera and her fiancee, Big Sean. After her visit, Naya wrote:
On Christmas Eve Sean and I visited the children’s hospital and met some amazing kids and their families. Remember to spread love!

Delta GLITCH Causes Ultra-Low Fares
A former Melbourne resident who lives in Indiana, was able to book six flights to and from Melbourne International Airport for less than $350, saving himself more than $2,000 in the process thanks to a computer glitch involving Delta Airlines.
Rokosz initially planned to drive from Chicago to the area for work and to see friends in the area with his girlfriend when he noticed shockingly low deals being offered for flights to and from Melbourne International Airport with Delta.
“I was excited,” said Rokosz. I found them on Kayak. When I saw it, I went on the Delta website.”
He had a very good reason to be excited. Rokosz was able to book a round-trip flights for him and his girlfriend from Chicago to Melbourne for $116, another round-trip flight from Melbourne to Fort Walton Beach in February for $110 and two one-way flights from Chicago to Melbourne and Melbourne to Chicago for $58 each.
In total, Rokosz was able to book flights that would have normally cost the duo $2,480 for $342.
He also had exceptionally good timing as the deals were only available from 10 a.m. to noon before they reverted to being priced as Delta had intended them to be.
“Delta will honor any fares purchased at the incorrect price,” said Trebor Banstetter, spokesman for the airline.
Jamie Foxx Arrives At LAX
Getting an early start on some weekend traveling, Jamie Foxx arrived at LAX International Airport in Los Angeles
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” star wore a black Lord Major Apparel hoodie, dark jeans and white sneakers as he made his way through the busy terminal.
Recently, Jamie finished the production of the animated film “Rio 2.” Per the synopsis, “it's a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids in RIO 2, after they're hurtled from that magical city to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all - his father-in-law.”
Starring alongside Mr. Foxx are Anne Hathaway, Rodrigo Santoro and Leslie Mann. The adorable comedy is slated to hit theaters April 11th.
Lil Twist Cleared of Battery Allegations
Rapper Lil Twist will not face battery charges following accusations he attacked a woman at Justin Bieber’s home.
Back in August, the accuser filed a police report stating that Twist forcefully grabbed her arm, attempting to keep her at the party once she found out Bieber wasn’t actually home. According to TMZ, the police report was supported by such little evidence that prosecutors never even evaluated the case.
Twist, who lives with the teen crooner, has been blamed for some of Bieber’s bad behavior over the year and made news for a couple of his own mishaps. In May he was pulled over for speeding in his roommate’s Ferrari and busted for DUI two months later, but vehemently contested the battery claims.

Football Player and Husband of Kerry Washington Nnamdi Asomugha is RETIRING!
Looks like somebody is surprisingly retiring....at the age of 32.
Nnamdi Asomugha, who married actress Kerry Washington earlier this year, will retire as a member of the Oakland Raiders after 11 years in the NFL. The announcement was made at a news conference at team headquarters today. He signed a $60 million 5-year contract two and a half years ago when he played with the Eagles. They paid him $25 mill when they traded him to Oakland. Apparently that $25 mill (with the added bonus of a superstar wife) is enough for him to chuck deuces to the game forever..
Kevin Hart & Eniko Jet To Anguilla For A Holiday Vacay With Ludacris & Eudoxie
Kevin Hart and his girlfriend Eniko jetted to Anguilla for a holiday retreat with their friends Ludacris & Eudoxie, and Marco Andretti & Marta Krupa. Since arriving, the couples have been kicking back by the pool and relaxing with some fun in the sun.
“So good to get away with friends that have became family …..love these guys!!!! #AnnualGetAway #Family #GodIsAmazing,” Kevin wrote.
Around this time last year, they were all living it up on a holiday vacay to Thailand – where Kevin said he saved Luda’s life, when he had to rescue him from drowning (if you missed it, follow the link to check it out). They’re back at it again, and this time around it’s in sunny Anguilla.

Soulja Boy's ALLEGED Baby's Mama--Diamond Shantaniece Mackey--Wants You To See Her "Proof" Soulja Is The Father....
This easily became the most ratchet story of the week as soon as we read the names involved. Find out what "proof" Soulja Boy's new alleged baby's mama has to prove the rapper IS the father....
Diamond Shantaniece Mackey made a claim earlier this week that rapper Soulja Boy is the father of her 5-year-old son. Now, she's releasing "proof" to make folks believe her story.
Diamond (not to be confused with Soulja's OTHER ex named Diamond, the rapstress) just put out pictures of herself straddling Soulja in a hotel room back in 2007--fully clothed. Apparently she is using this pic as proof that she took a pregnancy test in that very hotel room on that very night, and that's when she found out she was pregnant. Not sure how this proves any of that OR that Soulja's the father, but whatevs.
Reports state that Diamond claims after she delivered her baby boy--NAMED PORTION--Soulja took an at-home DNA test. He reportedly texted her a pic of the '0% chance he's the father' result. Then, all of a sudden, he got GHOST. He allegedly changed his number and was nowhere to be found. This was during the time his hit "Crank That" had taken over.
So now, Diamond has filed legal docs claiming Soulja IS the father, likely because she wants him to pay up.
In the words of Traci Braxton, "Just take the test!" Preferably in a reputable office this time...
