Leo DiCaprio on ‘Wolf of Wall Street’: It’s ‘the height of debauchery’
Leonardo DiCaprio covers the latest issue of NY Mag to promote The Wolf of Wall Street. This movie is the one where Leo dances and throws money to play his stockbroker character, Jordan Belfort, whose memoir forms the basis of the movie. The trailer gave off strong Goodfellas vibes, but in this piece Scorsese steps in and insists that he does not draw parallels between stockbrokers and the mafia. Scorsese sees Jordan merely as an old-fashioned scam artist who managed to skim about $100 million off the top end. The good times did not last.
Leo talks a lot in this interview about his process with Scorsese. These two are no ordinary actor-director combo. Leo has pretty much been Scorsese’s muse ever since Robert De Niro decided to stop making good movies (with the exception of Silver Linings Playbook last year). Here are some details from Leo himself on the debauchery in Wolf of Wall Street:
Leo talked Scorsese into Wolf: “I told Marty, ‘I don’t think we’ll be able to do a movie like this too many times in the futur.[ Larger-scale, R-rated dramas, like Blood Diamond or The Departed, don’t really get financed anymore."
The author wanted Scorsese too: "Marty directing was Jordan’s dream scenario, absolutely. When Marty couldn't do it the first time, I set it up with a few other directors, but I never felt comfortable pulling the trigger. I was fixated on him. There wasn't anybody else who could bring the rawness and toughness, the music, and particularly the humor required to convey the excitement of these young punks--these robber barons--taking on the Wall Street system."
On Leo's character: "The book personified America’s addiction to obtaining wealth at all costs, and that hasn’t changed. He was a small fish in a gigantic pond, and he'd motivate his guys by telling them they were heroes for taking on the big houses. Un-regulated Wall Street was like the Wild West. There was nothing Jordan wouldn’t divulge, no matter how intimate or embarrassing. That was the attraction for Marty as well--it's the kind of brutal honesty that got Marty into making movies like Mean Streets."
Leo and Scorsese are one: "Marty said to me early on, 'No matter the genre, no matter what kind of movie, people respond to the honesty in the characters.' We weren't interested in sentimentalizing Jordan. We aren’t painting a portrait of someone we want people to feel sorry for. Later in the film, when his life starts breaking apart, people are going to think he’s making the wrong decisions constantly. That’s not to say that people won’t be rooting for him, because he’s a likable guy."
Leo got to know Jordan: "I wanted a close relationship with him so that I could weave intimate details into the movie. Things that weren’t in the book. I was kind of the middleman between him and Marty, and I would bring pages of notes from my meetings with Jordan--things like this insane orgy on a 747 going to Vegas, chimpanzees in diapers that would skate through the Stratton offices, very intimate stuff about his relationships with women--and Marty was game to try everything. His approach was essentially to put everything onscreen and see what we responded to. It was old-school, really independent filmmaking on a larger scale."
Leo on dry-humping a stewardess for the movie: "It’s a modern-day Caligula. The height of debauchery."
[From Vulture]
Hmm. Is it just me, or does Leo’s horndog character sort of remind you of Leo himself? Leo has quite the reputation for debauchery and suppposedly bedded 7 women during Cannes this year. I’m just saying, there are similarities to be had. I’m guessing Scorsese may have picked up on this vibe too, but I’m sure he won’t tell on his muse.
YES!!!!! EAGLES NATION RISE! Eagles race past Redskins in opener
One game does not eradicate skepticism, but there will be far less incredulity about how Chip Kelly will translate to the NFL after the Eagles' convincing 33-27 victory over the Washington Redskins in the opener Monday night at FedEx Field. The victory was more than a simple adjustment to the record, which is now 1-0. It was an endorsement of Kelly's philosophy of frenetic football, where the play clock is an optional accessory and an optimum performance appears closer to what occurs in a video game than a traditional NFL offense. Monday's was not an optimal performance, but it was nonetheless an impressive debut in front of a national audience and a frenzied crowd of 82,743 that had little reason to cheer until a fourth-quarter comeback. That's because the Eagles offense accumulated 445 yards against the Redskins. They totaled 77 plays. They recorded 26 first downs.
And as advertised, they dictated the tempo of the game. MORE COVERAGE Poll: Who is the team to beat in the NFC East? Make sure you get a good view Photos: Eagles cheerleaders photo shoot Forum: Will the Eagles make the playoffs? Michael Vick completed 15 of 25 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. LeSean McCoy rushed 31 times for 184 yards and a score. DeSean Jackson pulled in seven passes for 104 yards and a TD. The offensive onslaught came after an inauspicious opening drive. With a no-huddle offense in which the Eagles were sometimes snapping the ball 15 seconds into the play clock, the Eagles drove the ball 76 yards to the Redskins' 4-yard line. That's when Vick attempted a screen pass to McCoy that was deflected in flight by Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. The Eagles' offensive players acted as if the play was dead, but the whistle was never blown. Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall picked up the loose ball and ran unbothered 75 yards into the end zone. The officials determined it was not a forward fumble, and thus a fumble. The Redskins had a 7-0 lead. The deficit was an obstacle, but not a deterrent. The Eagles drove the ball 51 yards for a 48-yard Alex Henery field goal, and then Trent Cole forced an Alfred Morris fumble on the first play of the ensuing drive. Vick connected with
Jackson for a 25-yard touchdown to give the Eagles a 10-7 lead. An Eagles defense that was maligned throughout the preseason showed the ability to make big plays when it forced another Redskins turnover on the next drive, this time a Brandon Boykin interception. And the next time the Redskins had the ball, a mishandled pitch in their own end zone resulted in a safety. With a 12-7 lead, the Eagles offense took over. The Eagles scored twice in the third quarter, and the most notable part of both scoring drives was the amount of plays they accumulated in such a short period. A five-play, 65-yard drive that finished with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Brent Celek took 2 minutes, 7 seconds. A nine-play, 44-yard drive that finished with a 3-yard Vick touchdown run lasted 3:03. The Eagles entered halftime with 247 more yards than the Redskins, 32 more plays - and most important to Kelly, a 26-7 lead. That lead swelled to 33-7 after Cary Williams recorded a diving interception on the Redskins' opening drive after halftime, and McCoy juked through Washington's defense for a 34-yard touchdown run two plays later. That was the Eagles' high-water mark for the night. It was less than two minutes into the second half, and they had 26-point advantage over a team favored to beat them. The game appeared to be a mismatch. The Redskins scored the next three touchdowns to at least make the game entertaining in the fourth quarter, but the last score came with just more than one minute remaining and the Redskins without a timeout. The Eagles' lead was threatened, but never in doubt. The performance was far from flawless, and Kelly won't be shy about pointing out the team's two turnovers as an area that requires improvement this week. But Kelly's debut should quiet skeptics. The offense was as dynamic as owner Jeffrey Lurie hoped when he lured Kelly from Oregon, and there were times when the Eagles' offense reminded many of Kelly's Ducks. And it was only Kelly's first game. The league will have time to study the offense, but the Eagles will become more refined, too. With the San Diego Chargers visiting Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday for Kelly's home opener, curiosity will no longer focus on whether Kelly's offense will work in the NFL. It will instead focus on what the Eagles can do for an encore after an impressive first win.
GO EAGLES!!!

Wildfox Couture Ceo Involved In Sex Scandal
Better check her ID next time!!! Wildfox Couture CEO, James Sommers, is caught in the middle of a sex scandal involving a minor…UHHOHH!!!
Sommers (left) with Scott Disick & designer Kimberly Gordon
Meghan Chereek, at the time 17, claims Sommers took advantage and exploited her over the course of several months. The inspiring model was looking for financial stability and was offered a tentative modeling contract with a promise of making her the face of Wildfox Couture. But this promise allegedly came with a price. It began with sexual advances, later escalating to sexual acts. Chreek also says that Sommers provided her with alcohol and drugs. According to Chereek’s complaint, which has been filed in a Los Angeles court, she met Sommers, who was 43 and according to Wildfox’s is also a musician, at a restaurant in July 2012, and he offered her a tentative modeling contract with the brand (which is designed by Emily Faulstich and Kimberly Gordon). In the months that follow, Sommers repeatedly forced Chereek (then aged 17) to have sex with him, continuing to promise that she would model for the Wildfox brand. According to the complaint, Chereek never appeared in any Wildfox campaigns.
The complaint further alleges that Sommer’s behavior (think: “regular demands that Chereek engage in sexual contact with him – which she submitted to based upon her fear of him and her desire to establish a career as a model”) was intended “to vex, annoy, or injure Plaintiff, and he unjustly and cruelly exercised his authority and power as president of WILDFOX to manipulate and sexually exploit Plaintiff.” The complaint also refers to how Sommers allegedly manipulated Chereek into performing sex acts on another adult male in his presence. Sommers is being accused of the following charges: unlawful sex with a minor, unlawful oral sex with a minor, gender violence against the young woman, among other charges. Chereek is seeking unspecified damages for mental and emotional suffering, counseling and therapy expenses, as well as future therapy expenses, among other damages.
Meghan girl…at 17, you know what you were doing. Do we think Sommers is wrong in this situation? Absolutely!!! Do we think Chereek played her roll in this situation? Hell a$$ yeah she did. She took her hot in the pants, 17 year old self over that man’s house to have relations and now is mad cause it didn’t work out the way she wanted. Lesson learned for Sommers… You need to check out these females ID’s before you attempt to turn them out. Lesson learned for Chereek, respect yourself and your body a little more!
OOPS!
Naomi Campbell snuggling wih Maxwell at the US Open??
There has got to be very few things more enjoyable than quaffing champagne while watching the world's top tennis players battle it out, however Naomi Campbell managed to go one step further.
The supermodel was joined at the US Open on Friday by hunky singer Maxwell to watch Serena Williams and Na Li at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center.
The 43-year-old looked extremely happy in the company of her companion as they relaxed in the The Moet & Chandon Suite.
Naomi looked incredibly glamorous as she arrived at the event in a sexy, monochrome outfit.
The stunning model wore a patterned white shirt with a wide black belt, which revealed a little of her bra underneath.
Teaming her top with a short pleated black skirt and black high heels, the star was definitely not going to be outdone at the event.
The London-born model, who looked effortlessly chic, accessorised her ensemble perfectly with a rose gold watch, silver anklets and a small, black bag.
Her long, wavy hair was worn down and she completed her look, in true celeb style, with large, round sunglasses.
Rarely one to make a fashion faux pas, Naomi must have been questioning Maxwell's choice of attire which left a lot to be desired. So what’s the Tea here?
OOOPS New R&B Divas Tea Sips: Kelly Price Says Producers Encouraged Her To Ambush Chante Moore With Kenny Lattimore
The season is officially over, but the drama isn’t. There seems to be more drama with TV One’s R&B Divas LA. Who this time? Soulful singer Kelly Price is now speaking out and the diva has some not so nice things to say about what goes on BEHIND the scenes of the show. In an interview with CNikki.com, the 40-year-old New Yorker speaks candidly about the show’s producers and it’s pretty surprising. The new reality star says producers were trying to create scenarios that would create more drama then necessary. How so? She specifically says that producers wanted her to surprise Chante Moore, by inviting her to a meeting with her ex-husband, Kenny Lattimore. [Backstory: Chante and Kenny are no longer married and are going through an ugly child custody case in court.]
Kelly explains:
I refused when multiple times I was asked to arrange a surprise meeting between Chante Moore and her ex husband, Kenny Lattimore. Kenny is my friend. Chante is my cast mate. Where we’re working together; we’ve known each other for a very long time and we have a friendly relationship. and i know because of my relationship with him and my private conversations with Chante that that’s not something that she’s ready to have happen. they were not in that place or in that space to be in the same place with each other and it be like that. So I wasn’t about to be in the middle of it. I was asked not once but more than times then I can count. There are people not very pleased with me because there was a lot I did say no to.
She also explains that while her frustration with Fred (‘memba he was the director that Chante and Lil Mo were working with for the monologues?) was real, producers asked her to create conflict with him:
In the instance of Fred, I did say yes to giving him a problem on camera. but i still own what I did. Nobody forced me to do it, they did ask. I said yes. My thing was I didn’t want to fight with the ladies. But if you need some conflict, you need some drama I can have some drama with somebody that’s not gonna be here…Some of my frustration was real. When you see me scream ‘I’m too great for this…’ I’m not talking to any of the ladies. I’m in it with production…you’re treating me like garbage. And i don’t need to come here, to be treated like garbage.
But The show’s producers, Paul Coy Allen, who paints a different picture.
There are natural dramas within every person’s everyday life, and with “R&B Divas” that’s what our audience connects to the most…REAL natural situations & people they can relate to. Once again we tell our cast to be as open possible, and as Producers of the series we seek out resolutions, and positivity at all stops. No one has ever told a cast member to fight. As mentioned to each of the Divas when we first sit down with them, we are not sought out to create train wreck television, and that’s definitely not the type of programming I personally would want my name on.
Whose versions of events do you believe–Kelly Price or one of the show’s producer’s?
From the Sports Ticker: NY Knicks Ballers J. R. Smith SUSPENDED For 5 Games, "ALLEGEDLY" Busted For Smoking Weed! + Chad Ochocinco LANDS Job With CBS Sports!
Lamar Odom isn't the only NBA baller with high-profile drug issues. Today, J.R. Smith, the heavily-tattooed shooting guard for the NY Knicks, was hit with a 5-game suspension for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy. Though the league did not detail the nature of the "drug" use, Yahoo! Sports reported that J.R. tested positive for marijuana.
We're not defending him for breaking the rules, but it should be noted that J.R. had patellar tendon surgery and an arthroscopy for a tear to the lateral meniscus of his left knee in July. That sounds like it might hurt. Maybe the Tylenol the doctors prescribed him wasn't strong enough and he needed a little extra feel good? Just giving this dude the benefit of the doubt....
As it stands now, J.R.-- who K.Michelle allegedly wrote her hoodtastic revenge track "The Right One" about -- was ALREADY expected to miss 12 to 16 weeks because of his injury, and his 5-game suspension will start once he's cleared to play again.
Ron Klempner, the acting executive director of the National Basketball Players Association, said
"There is a collectively-bargained process in place, established by the NBA and the Players Association, and until that process has played itself out, it would be inappropriate for the NBA or J.R. to make further statements about the matter. We all look forward to a resolution in due course."
During the offseason, J.R. signed a signed a three-year contract extension with the team worth $17 million.
In other sports news....
Chad Ochocinco has a new "paying" gig! The last we heard, Chad lost his job as a Miami Dolphins player after he head-butted his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. But now, things are looking up for the former baller.
He recently tweeted about a new gig at CBS Sports.....
Congrats Chad!
New Balance MRT580 Revlite & "Tonal Colors" Pack [PHOTOS]
We may be late to the proverbial dance as they say, but it was totally necessary to feature the upcoming New Balance MRT580 Revlite. Try saying that five times fast.
So far, five colorways of the iconic sneaker will be released in coming weeks. Two inspired by OG designs will come in gray and a navy blue with lighter blue accents, and both don suede and mesh. The remaining trio are a part of the "Tonal Colors" pack consisting of a red, charcoal gray, and royal blue shoe. Each feature a mixed leather and mesh upper that are the same color throughout, with the exception of an all white midsole.
Collectors have fancied this New Balance model for sometime, but it's been evasive in nature since they can rarely be found outside of Japan. Sadly, this may still be the case when the kicks release October 10 at select New Balance Concept Stores and select stockists across Southeast Asia.
However, this will be the first time the MRT580 (derived from the MT580) will be available in women's sizes. Renowned sneaker sites like Sneaker News also speculate that there could be a United States release in the works, so stay tuned.

Naomi Watts Premieres "Diana" In Paris; Faces Harsh U.K. Critics
Ready for the world to judge her portrayal of the People's Princess, Naomi Watts attended the premiere of "Diana" at Cinema UGC Normandie in Paris, France
The "Impossible" star looked pretty in a short, white, and lacy semi-sheer dress with silver sparkling heels as she posed for photos.
Though she fretted about stepping into the royal's shoes, U.K. critics have been harsh on the 44-year-old's film, with the Guardian, Telegraph, Mirror, The Times, and the Daily Mail giving bad reviews.
In a previous interview with the U.K.'s Sunday Times, Naomi admitted, "I turned [the part] down twice. The biggest reason that made me pause was how the princes were going to be feel about this."
