#FASHIONFAB: Rihanna in Rick Owens at the BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER World Premiere

It’s a rare occasion that sees Rihanna in high-end fashion on a red carpet, but it’s probably not a surprise that she put on a gown to attend the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiere, considering she has a song on the sound track which will almost certainly be submitted for Oscar consideration. She opted for some high-glam in the Rick Owens mode, which means she wore something sparkly and more than a little challenging.

I like it. What say Ye??????

#RHOA: NeNe Leakes Reveals She Wasn’t Invited To BravoCon, Not Done Fighting Network & Andy Cohen Over Racial Discrimination

Ex-Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes revealed her legal battle with Bravo is far from over. As previously reported, earlier this year, NeNe filed a bombshell lawsuit against NBC, Bravo, the producers behind RHOA and Andy Cohen.

She accused the defendants of racial discrimination in court documents. NeNe said she was forced to deal with racist comments made by her white costar Kim Zolciak-Biermann for years.

The reality TV icon said she complained about the matter to execs but was told to stay quiet.

One example listed in the lawsuit was from October 2017. At the time, Kim and NeNe were arguing when Kim and her daughter publicly said NeNe’s new home was a “roach nest.”

NeNe responded to Kim on Instagram but was then told to delete the post immediately.

Leakes' lawyer said, “From the day the series began filming, NeNe was the target of systemic racism from co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann, which was tolerated by Bravo executive producer Andy Cohen and other executives."

In August, prior to the defendants responding to the allegations in court, NeNe dismissed the suit but noted her dismissal was “without prejudice” — which meant she could refile at a later date.

Many took her dismissal to mean the legal battle was over but that was not the case,

Now, NeNe has confirmed her fight with Bravo and Andy is still ongoing.

NeNe sat down for a one-on-one with Larry Reid where she discussed a wide range of topics including her costar Kandi Burruss and Bravo not inviting her to BravoCon.

Later, NeNe revealed she was not invited to BravoCon. “They did not invite me. They have not talked to me at all. I have made many attempts to try … it has been crickets.”

Larry then questioned NeNe about her legal battle with Bravo. She said, “We still have legal things.”

Larry said he read the lawsuit was dropped which NeNe admitted. However, she said the dismissal was a technicality and the parties are still battling it out in mediation.

“The fact that we are in this situation is why we can’t talk personally”, she said.

Larry asked if she regretted filing the lawsuit to which NeNe said, “I honestly don’t.” She compared the situation to a child being abused and the kid crying out for help.

“Everyone acting like they don’t hear me,” NeNe said. “I don’t know … I feel like my hands are tied. There is nothing I can do.”

#HipHopNews: Diddy Joins Hip-Hop Billionaires Club

Sean “Diddy” Combs is officially a billionaire. The Bad Boy tycoon places second on the 2022 list of hip-hop’s wealthiest artists as his net worth soars to $1 billion, according to former Forbes entertainment editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg.

Diddy’s billion-dollar fortune is due in part to his Ciroc partnership with Diageo, which draws in $60 million annually. The 52-year-old mogul’s empire also includes DeLeón Tequila and his REVOLT media network, for which he is a majority shareholder, as well as his music catalog and other investments.

He replaces Kanye West, who lost his billionaire status in the wake of his anti-Semitic and anti-Black comments that cost him his lucrative adidas partnership. His total wealth dropped from a reported $2 billion to around $500 million.

“I lost 2 billion dollars in one day and I’m still alive,” Ye wrote in the aftermath. “The money is not who I am. The people is who I am.”

JAY-Z, who was declared hip-hop’s first billionaire in 2019, reclaims his title as hip-hop’s richest artist with a net worth of $1.5 billon, thanks to his successful ventures including Roc Nation and Armand de Brignac. Last year, he sold a 50 percent stake in the luxury champagne brand to LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

Gilbert “Berner” Milam takes the No. 4 spot with a net worth of $410 million thanks to his cannabis empire Cookies, which sells 70 strains of weed and 2,000 marijuana-related products across its 48 stores worldwide. The Bay Area rapper and entrepreneur maintains an estimated 30 percent stake in the company.

Dr. Dre follows Berner with a net worth of $400 million. Once valued at $800 million, his fortunes have taken a hit due to his $70 million investment in the creation of a music academy at the University of Southern California and $100 million settlement to his ex-wife, half of which has already been paid.

The combined total of the five richest artists in hip-hop is now a reported $3.8 billion, a 20 percent increase over the $3.17 billion pre-pandemic total.

Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2022

1. JAY-Z – $1.5 billion

2. Diddy – $1 billion

3. Kanye West – $500 million

4. Berner – $410 million

5. Dr. Dre – $400 million

Wendy Williams Shows Up At Friend’s NYC Home ‘To Party’ Just Days After Leaving Rehab Center for Alcohol Treatment

It’s been about a year since Wendy Williams stepped off the scene to deal with mental health issues, and people are still wondering if she’s OK.

The former TV personality allegedly showed up to a friend’s home looking to party and catch up just days after leaving a rehab center in California — and the conversations were not about business. She had been in the center since August following a lengthy battle with alcoholism.

According to a source,

“Wendy came out totally by herself. She was looking for people to party with. This wasn’t a situation where Wendy was coming out to catch up with friends. Wendy looked crazed and she was clearly there to party. Once she realized that this wasn’t that kind of scene, she bounced. She came and went in minutes.”

Wendy Williams is said to have been struggling with alcohol abuse [and other serious health issues] to the point where doctors told her if she drank, she’d die.

A source said,“She never really wanted to stop and the people around her in New York have allowed her to keep drinking.”

Wendy Williams suffered a number of health concerns, including Graves’ disease and substance abuse, and was absent for the entire 13th seasons of The Wendy Williams Show. Her longstanding production company, Debmar-Mercury, announced earlier this year that her show had been canceled and Sherri Shepherd, one of several guest hosts who filled in on her show, would take over her time slot.

At the time of her release, Wendy‘s rep Shawn Zanotti said,

“We are happy to report that Wendy Williams is home and healing after being in a wellness facility since August. She is taking some time to focus on her health and wellness as she prepares for a major comeback for the next level in her career with The Wendy Experience Podcast.”

Wendy currently has no income coming in after Wells Fargo froze her $20 million fortune in February out of concern for her mental stability.

Tom Brady & Wife Gisele Bündchen File For Divorce

This morning (Oct. 28) Tom Brady took to his Instagram story to reveal that he and his wife Gisele Bündchen have come to an agreement to finalize their divorce. The Tampa Bay quarterback shared:

“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”

According to sources, the former Victoria Secrets Angel wasn’t thrilled when her husband went back on his retirement announcement during the 2021 NFL season and decided to play another season of professional football. Reports claim that the ex-couple will file for divorce effective immediately in Florida. The source shared:

“The settlement is all worked out. They’ve been working on the terms this whole time. They agreed to joint custody of the kids.”

Back in October, the source previously shared that once Tom Brady went back to football, Bündchen decided she “is done with their marriage.” The source said:

“She was upset about it for a long time and it’s still difficult, but she feels like she needs to move on. She doesn’t believe that her marriage can be repaired.”

After the model, 42, hired a divorce lawyer, Brady, did the same, and in doing so he was hurt. An insider said:

“She is the one steering the divorce. She is playing offense and he is playing defense. He wants to protect himself, protect his interests, but he’s only starting to go the legal route in his defense from her. He doesn’t want this to be ugly, he doesn’t want to fight. If the divorce is happening — and it seems like it is — he wants it to go as smoothly as possible.”

Brady and his ex-wife share two children; son Benjamin, 12, and daughter Vivian Lake, 9, along with his son John Edward, 15, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. Back in September it was shared that the couple have been living separately for “more than a month” by the start of the 2022-23 NFL season. The pair took marriage counseling in the past when they hit bumpy roads within their relationship. During an Howard Stern interview back in April of 2020, Brady said:

“[Gisele] didn’t feel like I was doing my part for the family. She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then all of a sudden when the season ended, I’d be like, ‘Great, let me get into all of my other business activities. Let me get into my football training,’ and she’s sitting there going, ‘Well when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?'”

Kanye West's Donda Academy Reopens Mere Hours After Abruptly Shutting Down

Just hours after parents, teachers, and children were abruptly notified that the doors of Donda Academy, (the pre-K-12 school founded by Kanye “It’s Actually Just Ye Now” West) would be closed until September 2023, it appears school is back in session according to a new email sent out around midnight on Thursday.

“Dear Parents and Staff, join us tomorrow morning in worship for the return of Donda Academy. With the help of our parents and community, we are back and returning with a vengeance!” the email read, which was obtained by TMZ. “The children of Donda are going to change the world. Apologies for the late email! See you bright and early!”

As previously reported by The Root, on Wednesday school attendees were shocked to learn that the school would be shutting down effective immediately for the remainder of the school year at the behest of its founder in an email sent just HOURS before this new one.

“Dear Donda Academy Families,

We hope this email finds you well. First, we would like to express our gratitude for the community of families and scholars that Donda Academy brought together. However, at the discretion of our Founder, Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately, Thursday. October 27. THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.

Our leadership team will be working diligently to assist all families during this transition, ensuring that every scholar has what they need to succeed in their next community in a prompt and gracious manner. We intend to begin afresh in September of 2023, and we are confident that our scholars will continue to advance as the creative innovators, courageous influencers and academic leaders of the next generation. Thank for your support.”

It remains to be seen just what exactly happened in hours between the decision and at this point, I’m about ready to jump off this crazy merry-go-round of a news cycle head-first. Every day, it’s a new development in this seemingly never-ending Ye Saga, and I, for one, can’t wait until we can all wrap this up and move on to the next. No one man should have all this power.

Julia Roberts reveals Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. paid the hospital bill for her birth

It is little known that Julia Roberts and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. shared a bond from the moment she was born.

During a conversation with Gayle King for A+E Networks and History Channel’s “HISTORYTalks” on Sept. 24, Roberts revealed that the civil rights activist and his wife, Coretta Scott King, covered the hospital bill for her birth. “The King family paid for my hospital bill — Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta. My parents obviously couldn’t pay for the hospital bill,” she said.

In response to a question regarding how the relationship between the Kings and Roberts’ parents, Betty and Walter Roberts, began, the 55-year-old actress replied: “My parents had a theater school in Atlanta called the ‘Actors and Writers Workshop.’ And one day, Coretta Scott King called my mother and asked if her kids could be part of the school because they were having a hard time finding a place that would accept her kids. My mom was like, ‘Sure, come on over,’ and so they all just became friends, and they helped us out of a jam.”

Phillip DePoy revealed in a 2013 essay that a Ku Klux Klan member blew up a car outside of the theater in response to him kissing the late Yolanda King, the daughter of Martin and Coretta, during a play scene.

“I kissed a girl, and 10 yards away, a Buick exploded,” DePoy wrote. “I was on the back of a flatbed truck that had been converted into a swamp. I was a fox. The girl was a terrapin. We were in Atlanta, it was a very nice summer day in 1965, and I was 15 years old. The girl was Yolanda King, daughter of Coretta and Martin Luther King Jr. I was primarily Caucasian and Yolanda wasn’t. That’s what the trouble was about. I don’t know who owned the Buick, but I know who blew it up.”

Will Smith shares encouraging message from Floyd Mayweather after Oscars slap incident

Despite the Oscars slap controversy, Will Smith will always have a supporter in his friend Floyd Mayweather, who called the King Richard star “every day” with words of encouragement when nearly all of Hollywood turned its back on him.

In a video from a private screening of his upcoming film Emancipation, obtained by TMZ, Smith recalls the supportive conversations he had with Mayweather following his Oscars debacle earlier this year.

“The day after the Oscars, for 10 days he called me every day,” said Smith, who pointed to Mayweather in the audience. “And he was like, ‘Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it.’”

Smith concluded, “That was every day he called me. … And it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

As Oscars viewers know, Smith faced intense backlash this past March when he walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald appearance. The incident, which was broadcast live around the world, has left an unmissable stain on Smith’s decorated career as much of Hollywood lambasted the actor for his violent reaction.

Months later, in July, the “Men in Black” actor released a video via Instagram in which he expressed his regret and issued a public apology to Rock. “I’ve reached out to Chris, and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk,” Smith said. “And when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris: I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

As of yet, Rock has not formally accepted Smith’s apology — and he isn’t alone.

As previously reported by REVOLT, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith had desired to have Smith portray him in a potential biopic of his own life based on his forthcoming memoir. But that was before the slap. “D**mit, it would’ve been Will Smith before the slap,” Stephen said in a recent podcast appearance. “But I can’t go with him now. I can’t go with him.”

Michael Jackson’s Son Prince Jackson Slams Claim That Harry Styles Is The New King Of Pop:

Michael Jackson’s son, Prince Jackson, is coming to his father’s defense after being questioned about what he made of Rolling Stone recently crowning British singer Harry Styles the new “King of Pop.” The 25-year-old appeared on “Good Morning Britain” on Friday where he was asked to share his thoughts on the title being passed down to the “Watermelon Sugar” hitmaker.

But in his response, Prince, while still being respectful with his answer, said that his dad will always carry the moniker King of Pop and that the title which MJ rightfully earned himself could never be taken away from him. After calling Harry an “incredible artist,” Prince explained, “He’s got his own genre and he’s definitely an amazing artist. But, the “King of Pop” was a moniker that really my dad earned.”

He continued to add that there’s been a huge shift in music where access to popularity and fame wasn’t anywhere near as easily obtainable as it is today, and with countless other social factors that have to be taken into consideration when making such a statement, Prince says Michael will always be the King of Pop. “And it’s not something that you can ever take away,” he said, “because we’ve just evolved so much as a society that those same factors will never be the same.”

“So when you look at the… from where my father started to where he ended, versus where all these other people started to where they ended, it’s just night and day of a difference.”

Prince isn’t the first person who has reacted to recent claims of Harry having taken over Michael’s title following the enormous success he’s had since One Direction disbanded in 2015. Earlier this year, MJ’s nephew, Taj Jackson, spoke on the matter in a tweet that made it very clear he was not endorsing the idea that Harry has overtaken his uncle with regard to being deemed the King of Pop.

“There is no new King of Pop. You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did. Decades of dedication and sacrifice. The title has been retired,” he wrote. “No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega-talented. Give him his own unique title.”

Of course, it should be noted that Harry himself never commented on Rolling Stone calling him the King of Pop, nor has he ever breathed life into the idea that he considers himself worthy of holding the title — particularly since he’s still so early into his solo career.

Prince Harry’s Memoir ‘Spare’ Gets Release Date + Book Cover Revealed

*Prince Harry‘s hotly anticipated memoir titled “Spare” finally has a release date, and the book cover has also dropped.

“I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,” the Duke of Sussex said about his memoir in a statement in July 2021.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think,” he continued.

Publisher Penguin Random House confirmed Thursday that the title of Prince Harry’s book derives from “the heir and the spare” adage, per PEOPLE. Harry said proceeds from the book will be donated to charity.

The cover of Harry’s memoir is simply a soft image of his face. In “Spare,” the prince will tell his “raw” truth, according to Penguin Random House, adding that the tome is “a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.”

“All of us at Penguin Random House are thrilled to publish Prince Harry’s literary memoir and have him join the world-renowned leaders, icons, and change-makers we have been privileged to publish over the years,” Markus Dohle, CEO of PRH, previously said in a statement. “Prince Harry, Prince Harry’s Memoir ‘Spare’ Gets Release Date + Book Cover Revealed

has harnessed his extraordinary life experience as a prince, a soldier, and a knowledgeable advocate for social issues, establishing himself as a global leader recognized for his courage and openness. It is for that reason we’re excited to publish his honest and moving story.”

Per People, the publisher said “Spare” takes “readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror.”

“As Diana, Princess of Wales was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling — and how their lives would play out from that point on,” Penguin Random House said.

The memoir is set to be released on January 10, 2023.

Rev. Dr. Calvin Butts: Longtime Harlem Pastor, Political and Social Activist Dies At 73

*The man who helmed the landmark Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem has died. The Rev. Calvin O. Butts III, who presided over generations of worshippers as well as local, national and international political leaders, died Friday at age 73, the church announced.

“It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved pastor, Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts, lll, who peacefully transitioned in the early morning of October 28, 2022,” read a tweet from the Abyssinian Baptist Church posted shortly after 6:30 a.m. “The Butts Family & entire Abyssinian Baptist Church membership solicit your prayers.”

The cause of death was not released, however, several officials indicated Butts was battling cancer.

Rev. Butts was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in July of 1949 and joined Abyssinian as a youth minister in 1972 where he led the Harlem church as pastor for decades, becoming a trusted council of politicians and the public alike as its senior pastor.

He was also President Emeritus of the State University of New York College at Old Westbury and served in the Fordham University Graduate School of Education as a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy Division.

He worked with political leaders across the ideological spectrum.

“This is someone who could call up any mayor,” said Dr. Christina Greer, an associate professor of political science at Fordham University told Gothamist. “Not just David Dinkins, but Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio and Eric Adams, as well. It’s a powerful church because — not just the membership — but the stewardship of Rev. Butts made it a place where every political leader wanted and needed to get his opinion.”

The Rev. Al Sharpton called Butts a major pillar in the Harlem community. “He was a dominant faith and academic leader for decades,” Sharpton said in a statement. “We knew each other for more than 40 years, and while we did not always agree we always came back together.”

“Rev. Butts was a major pillar in the Harlem community and is irreplaceable. He was a dominant faith and academic leader for decades,” Rev. Sharpton added “We spoke as late as a couple of weeks ago about this work, as he was still fighting cancer. He will be tremendously missed.”

Butts was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and grew up in the New York City borough of Queens. He graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, then returned to the New York area and earned a master’s degree from Union Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry degree from Drew University. He began his ministry at Abyssinian while in graduate school.

Like other churches, Abyssinian was forced to go online only in the first months of the coronavirus pandemic and then gradually reopened.

The church hosted a private memorial service for the pioneering Black actor Cicely Tyson last year, with Bill and Hillary Clinton and Tyler Perry in attendance. Butts praised Tyson as an example of “an example of how we all might live.”

Rev. Butts’ survivors include his wife, Patricia, three children and six grandchildren.

Chaka Khan to auto-tune singers: "Get a job at the Post Office"

Chaka Khan had some tough words of advice for vocally challenged singers who can’t perform Chaka Khan has no respect for singers who rely on auto-tune.

As someone who’s earned her stripes in the music industry with her incredible singing ability, the “Through the Fire” legend had some harsh words for vocally challenged musicians who use cheap tricks like auto-tune to make themselves sound better. Khan’s word of advice: Stay out of the recording booth.

“There is some great stuff out there and there are some great artists,” Khan, 69, told Page Six at Denise Rich’s annual Angel Ball in New York on Monday night (Oct. 24). “There’s some very fine young artists out there doing great great work that I am impressed with.”

“But the others, they just need to get them a job at the Post Office — they are always hiring!,” Khan added, “People are using Auto-tune. They need to get to the Post Office quick.”

Despite sharing some tough love to auto-tune singers, Khan expressed sympathy for the lack of confidence she’s noticed in many female artists today. “I feel very sad,” she said. “It saddens me deeply that so much… insecurity is present in these girls. They really need to know that they are the gold and that they really are precious.”

The 10-time Grammy winner attended the annual fundraiser event for Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research in pure style, dressed to the nines in an all-black ensemble and adorned with gold jewelry. Rich, a Grammy-nominated songwriter, founded the charity in honor of her late daughter, Gabrielle, who died from leukemia at 27 years old.

Elsewhere during the function—attended by stars like rapper Fat Joe, film producer Lee Daniels, and New York Mayor Eric Adams—Khan treated attendees to not one but two performances, taking the stage to deliver hits like “Tell Me Something Good” and “I’m Every Woman.”

Biden says student loan forgiveness checks should be ready "in the next two weeks"

College graduates with student loan debt may soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief. It’s been a bumpy ride for borrowers the last couple of years. There have been reports that President Biden could possibly erase the burden since the 2020 election.

Earlier this month, after much back and forth, Biden partnered with the U.S. Department of Education to launch the official student loan debt relief website. Hundreds of thousands of hopefuls applied for the chance to have their debts waived and have a fresh start. Unfortunately, last week, that request was blocked by a federal appeals court.

Like a season finale to your favorite TV show, there have been exciting new developments. Yesterday (Oct. 27), Biden said the aid would be available shortly. “We’re going to win that case. I think in the next two weeks you’re going to see those checks going out,” the president said at a press conference. Although there was mention of physical checks, according to CNN, that’s not the case. “Instead, [eligible borrowers] will see up to a $20,000 reduction in their student debt balances,” the outlet clarified.

The choice to apply it directly to the loans rather than send out checks may be for the best. Some on Twitter have already started a conversation about what could follow if that happens. “Biden really sending out a check instead of applying the amount to our student loan accounts?” one person tweeted with a picture of a kid with a sly smile. Another wrote, “If Biden sends us a check for these student loans. Lord, forgive me in advance.”

Biden has been heavily criticized by Republicans for his decision to help those needing financial assistance for education costs. However, he has remained firm in his beliefs. “Marjorie Taylor Greene got $180,000 in business loans forgiven from the PPP program but said it’s ‘completely unfair’ for us to forgive student loans for working and middle-class Americans. You can’t make this stuff up,” he tweeted on Wednesday (Oct. 26).
