#MAGFAB: Adut Akech Takes Beale Street in Memphis for Vogue Australia June 2022

Supermodel Adut Akech returns ‘home’ to Vogue Australia’s June 2022 issue. The South Sudan to Adelaide to Vogue Australia and then rocketing into global domination Black beauty takes us to Memphis, USA in ‘On Beale Street’. Photographer Charles Dennington [IG]  captures the fashion story, styled by Catherine Martin./ Hair by Alan White; makeup by Victoria Baron

Aussie Baz Luhrmann, the director of ‘Elvis’ — a movie that topped $100 million at the domestic USA box office Friday without superheroes or dinosaurs running wild — guest edits both Vogue Australia June and also Vogue Living July/August to promote the new film and its Black-beauty-infused glamour.

Accompanying him in the effort is Catherine Martin, his life and work partner — and also partner in the making of ‘Elvis’, a movie heavily reliant on Martin’s ability to create memorable costumes.

Luhrmann has also directed ‘Australia’ and ‘The Great Gadsby’. Variety writes that ‘Elvis’ is tracking to become the director’s second-grossing film, taking out ‘Australia’ and there’s always number one Gadsby at $355.6 million.

Vogue Australia writes:

The year is 1955. Memphis’ Beale Street—America’s home of blues—is alive with the energy of self-expression and a spirit of rebellion. The street is a hub of African American culture, an intersection of music, fashion, and creativity.

A young, charismatic musician, drawn to the street’s vibrancy and flamboyance, spends his days perusing the street’s stores, sitting in its bars, dancing in its clubs—immersing himself in the inimitable energy of Beale Street. This musician came to be known as the King of Rock and Roll, and the influence of Memphis’ famous thoroughfare remained inherent to Elvis’ music, style, and stage persona.

“Lansky’s on Beale Street was the store where many Black artists that Elvis revered went to buy their clothes,” Martin explains. “These iconic looks shaped Elvis’ sartorial world view.”

The fashion shoot itself takes place at Beale Street’s Club Handy — a place where the lights are low, the music is loud and the clothes are spectacular. Vogue Australia invests mightily in sharing all the story particulars and fashion references, so check it out.

#RHOA: Peter Thomas Claims Cynthia Bailey And Nene Leakes Had An Issue With His Screen Time On Show

Peter Thomas is probably the most famous husband of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and he's still constantly making headlines.

He appeared on the series from seasons 3-10 while being married to and splitting from Cynthia Bailey. Thomas became known for always arguing with Bailey’s co-stars, which caused tension in their marriage. But Thomas revealed in a recent interview that Bailey feared that his spats with Nene Leakes would run their friendship and take away from her moments on screen.

He says Nene Leakes was intimidated by him potentially taking her shine on the show

Leakes was always known as the group’s queen bee and had no problem with confrontation. But according to Thomas, she met her match in him. Despite Leakes’ close friendship with his then-wife, he and Leakes often clashed. Leakes would accuse Thomas of always being in the women’s business. But he disagrees.

“That makes a lot of the girls upset too because we were taking camera time away from them,” Thomas told former RHOA producer Carlos King on an episode of Reality With the King podcast. “That’s why Nene told me to stay out of women’s business. Why n—a? Because I’m taking more camera time?” he asked. “I’ve got some s–t I want to promote too. She didn’t like that s–t at all.”

Thomas says things between them became so bad that Bailey would become upset with him out of fear that he was ruining her friendship with Leakes

King revealed the tidbit about things that were going on behind the scenes. “Behind the scenes, what people don’t know is Cynthia used to be mad at you for what she felt like you were taking away scenes from her and making the scenes about you and interfering with her friendship with Nene,” King revealed. Thomas agreed, noting that he was confused by the whole thing.

“I thought that was the dumbest thing ever because the whole purpose of why we were on the show is because of the money they were paying her and the exposure that we were getting as a couple. So, the more we taped, either myself or her, but when the cameras were gone, she felt the wrath of the girls, especially Nene…I used to go to bed every night and they’re on the phone, I used to wake up every morning and they’re on the phone and I’m like ‘Yo, why are you talking to the enemy?’” he says he thought to himself.

Thomas and Bailey split in 2017. Despite his rollercoaster relationship with Leakes, they remain close friends.

#HipHopNews DJ Premier Says Kendrick Lamar Has 10 Beats From Him

DJ Premier was recently chosen by Mass Appeal to deliver a five-track mixtape in honor of Hip Hop’s forthcoming 50th birthday. The tape, called Hip Hop 50 Vol. 1,  brought together a few of Premier’s favorite rappers to lay down some bars over some smooth classic beats.

In a sit-down with Ebro In The Morning, the iconic producer discussed the new tape and spoke on how he’s still currently waiting for Kendrick Lamar to drop a few songs they cooked up together.

“Kendrick had come to see me, we had sat together to work on some stuff, so it didn’t materialize, but just the fact that he even showed up and came in the room,” DJ Premier said of K. Dot. “We had a great time just hanging. I made like ten joints for him and he took ’em all even when I’m like, ‘Which one you want me to give?’ He’s like, ‘All of ’em in order from the way you played ’em.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Premier shouted out Pusha T, DaBaby, and Lil Uzi Vert, who he said reached out to him via Twitter DM’s just to show love.

“Somebody like DaBaby, I like the way he rhymes,” Preemo said. “I like the way he writes his lyrics. I think he could handle rapping on a Premier Beat. Even [Lil Uzi Vert]…he hits me up and says…’yo people forget I’m from Philly,’ he said, ‘I didn’t wanna rap over Mass Appeal,’ he said, ‘if you had put me on ‘Full Clip’ instrumental, I would have torn it down’…he can rap, and I love him. ‘Scrape It Off?’ He did his thing on that.”

The five-track tape Preemo put together was the first in what will be a series of 10 producer-helmed projects Mass Appeal has planned to celebrate rap. The DJ used his tape to bring together some of Hip Hop’s biggest heavyweights, including a unique pairing of Slick Rick and Lil Wayne on the closer “The Root Of All.”

Jay Ellis and Nina Senicar Tie the Knot in Italy After Having to Postpone the Wedding Twice

Jay Ellis is married! The actor, known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and HBO's Insecure married Nina Senicar in a romantic ceremony in Tuscany, Italy after five years together, per Vogue.

Ellis, 40, celebrated the moment with a sweet photo of him and his wife gazing at one another, revealing the wedding date in the caption.

"July 9th, 2022… Per sempre πŸ’™," he wrote using the Italian phrase that means forever.

The Serbian actress and advocate, 36, shared the same photo and caption on her own Instagram profile.

The newlyweds both donned custom Dolce and Gabbana looks for their big day, with the groom sporting a custom bordeaux tuxedo featuring peak lapels and silk satin trim with a white tuxedo button-up, a release shared with PEOPLE says.

The bride opted for a gorgeous white gown with a structured bustier. She added a sultry flare with a gathered skirt and thigh-high split, bringing it all together with white satin strappy sandals.

They enjoyed their ceremony at Villa Mangiacane in Tuscany, with vineyards and olive groves making the beautiful scene complete, according to Vogue.

Senicar shared the sentimental inspiration behind the location, telling the outlet, "We always knew we wanted to get married in Italy because going there was the first trip we ever took together."

Following getting engaged in January 2019, they planned to wed on July 9 that year at the Villa Mangiacane in Tuscany's San Casciano.

However, the couple was then forced to postpone their dream day due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The two then welcomed their first child, daughter Nora Grace, in November 2019.

They set their new date for July 2021. Senicar told Vogue, " "As the world slowly started to open up in 2021, we had a family loss that caused us to be away from home for about eight or nine months which resulted in our having to change our plans again. And we finally landed on July 9, 2022."

The pair made light of their changes, telling guests "Third time the charm!" in their invitations, and did much of their planning virtually.

Looking back at the day, the actress told the outlet she is "still processing everything," adding, "but I am beyond happy that all of our friends got together to celebrate our love."

"We just really wanted everybody to have a good time and get to know each other. And most importantly, dance. We come from two completely different sides of the world, different cultures, and backgrounds, and it was magical to see how all of that got mixed together in such a beautiful and spontaneous way with the people we love the most."

As for what's next, Ellis said he's looking forward to getting plenty of rest, he told the publication.

"I just feel like we need a vacation after throwing the craziest three-day party ever. But it was amazing. After everything that everyone has been through over the last few years to bring over 190 people together for three days in Tuscany and celebrate was surreal.

"Seeing all of our friends from different parts of our lives together smiling and laughing, connecting, forming their own friendships was such a huge part of what we wanted out of the weekend and the celebration. We wanted to create moments and memories that would last the rest of our lives."

Dr. Anthony Fauci to Resign by End of President Biden’s Term After 4 Decades as NIAID Director

Dr. Anthony Fauci plans to retire by the end of President Joe Biden’s current term in office!

Dr. Fauci, 81– who serves as Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 – announced that he plans on retiring from his role as NIAID director in the near future. During a recent interview, he explained,

“I have said that for a long time. By the time we get to the end of Biden’s first term, I will very likely (retire).”

When asked if he had stayed on as director out of a “sense of obligation,” Dr. Fauci said he did not expect to remain in government until Covid-19 is eradicated, because:

“We’re in a pattern now. If somebody says, ‘You’ll leave when we don’t have Covid anymore,’ then I will be 105. I think we’re going to be living with this for years to come.”

Fauci said that he feels like he’s established a good system at NIAID to ensure a smooth transition at the agency and would like to pursue other career opportunities once he eventually leaves.

“Everybody in a position of any influence in my institute, I handpick. So it’s something that I’ve been working on now for four decades. So we have a good system in place. Obviously, you can’t go on forever. I do want to do other things in my career, even though I’m at a rather advanced age.”

He continued,

“I have the energy and the passion to continue to want to pursue other aspects of my professional career and I’m going to do that some time. I’m not exactly sure when, but I don’t see myself being in this job to the point where I can’t do anything else after that.”

Long before the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Fauci had served more than five decades under seven presidents, advising every American president since Ronald Reagan. Fauci also played a fundamental role in combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s.

In addition to serving as the director of NIAID, he was the first director of the National Institutes of Health’s Office of AIDS Research when it was established in 1988. In 2008, Fauci was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush for his

“determined and aggressive efforts to help others live longer and healthier lives,”

according to an archived transcript of the ceremony.

When asked what he hopes his legacy will be after he steps away, he pointed to the work he accomplished during the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Dr. Fauci told sources that the founding of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR– which was established while working under President George W. Bush–

“may be the most impactful thing I have done in my career.”

In addition to HIV/AIDS, Fauci has helped lead the federal public health response to Ebola, the Zika virus, and anthrax scares.

Dr. Fauci has not announced a resignation date and could remain in his role as late as Jan. 20, 2025, which is the next Inauguration Day.

Houston Businesswoman Suing Chris Brown For Canceling Benefit Concert Appearance

A Houston businesswoman is suing Chris Brown after he allegedly failed to show up at a March benefit concert at the Toyota Center to aid Texas and Louisiana residents that were affected by Hurricanes Ida and Nicholas.

LeJuan Bailey, owner and president of DML Real Estate Investors and Construction, said at a July 13 press conference that her company booked the multi-platinum recording artist to perform at the "One Night Only Benefit Concert" at the downtown venue, along with R&B singer Monica and various other artists.

However, just hours before the concert, Brown canceled last-minute during a soundcheck at the venue, she said. Bailey, who was joined during last week's press conference by local political leaders, claims the "Run It" singer still pocketed at least $1.1 million in performance fees despite the cancelation.

"I acted in good faith and sponsored this concert out of love and respect for residents in need," Bailey told KPRC 2 Houston. "I am appalled that Chris Brown refuses to refund my money for a show he did not appear to after we announced our show and sold tickets."

Bailey said tickets were refunded, but she is still out nearly $2 million because she also covered Brown's fees to perform, private plane requests, and other accommodations. Brown's camp has ignored her repeated requests and attempts to mediate the situation, she said.

"At this point, it is my humble belief that Chris Brown's actions are parallel to pure theft," Bailey told KPRC 2. "He has the unmitigated gall to take my money, stand up to the residents of Houston, then return to the city to perform on August 17, 2022. My message to Chris Brown: We will not sit back and allow you to disrespect the victims of Hurricane Ida and Nicholas in need."

Bailey said she has spoken with police and they have subpoenaed Brown's records to show he did receive the money. Brown is scheduled to perform at the the Toyota Center  with rapper Lil Baby on August 17 for their "One Of Them Ones" co-headlining tour. Brown's reps have yet to publicly address the issue. His management did not respond to a request for comment by the time of this writing.

Sesame Workshop Promises Bias Training for Sesame Place Staff After Viral Video Incident

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, has responded to a viral video that appears to depict an incident of racial bias that occurred at Sesame Place Philadelphia over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, digital strategist Leslie Mac posted a video to Twitter from her daughter Paige’s 4th birthday celebration over the weekend. In the nine-second clip, Paige and another little girl, both Black, stand on the sidelines of the parade of characters and extend their arms toward a performer dressed in a Rosita costume. Rosita high-fives other park visitors before waving off Paige and her friend, wagging her head as she turns away from them.

“This is how #SesamePlace treated these beautiful Black children,” Mac captioned the video, which has generated 7.3 million views as of press time. As the video went viral on Monday, other people began sharing similar videos of Sesame Place characters appearing to ignore Black children while interacting with others.

The incident caught the attention of multiple Hollywood figures. “Those gorgeous girls will never forget that feeling!” Kelly Rowland wrote in a reply on Sesame Place’s Instagram account, while Audra McDonald tweeted, “This is absolutely disgusting.”

“Every Black woman was once a little Black girl who made this face when the way things are for us in America first broke her heart,” tweeted Yvette Nicole Brown, while Wendell Pierce shared that the disillusionment can happen to boys, too: “Watching [this moment] reminds me of my own. 4 years old on Mardi Gras Day being denied the joy I see other kids having and the realization the horrible reality.”

Sesame Place posted an initial response to its Instagram account on Sunday evening, explaining that the costumes sometimes inhibit performers’ sightlines, and that the employee portraying Rosita’s “no” gesture was a general response declining requests to hold children for photos, which is against park policy. “We spoke to the family and extended our apologies and invited them back for a special meet-and-greet opportunity with our characters,” the statement said.

But Mac said that hasn’t happened. “This statement is the first & only time the family heard about this offer & Sesame Place has cut off email communications,” she tweeted. “The entire statement is a lie.”

Late Monday afternoon, Sesame Workshop – which was careful to note that Sesame Place is a licensed partner – weighed in. “What these children experienced is unacceptable,” read its statement on social media. “We have been in contact with Sesame Place, our licensed park partner, and they have assured us that they will conduct bias training and a thorough review of the ways in which they engage with families and guests.”

Minutes after the nonprofit posted its statement, Sesame Place Philadelphia followed up with a new, pinned tweet: “We sincerely apologize to the family for their experience in our park on Saturday; we know that it’s not ok. We will conduct training for our employees so they better understand, recognize and deliver an inclusive, equitable and entertaining experience to our guests.”

New Powerpuff Girls Reboot in the Works, From Original Creator

As part of a new deal with Hanna-Barbera Studios, McCracken is also developing a preschool-aged reboot of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

“The Hanna-Barbera homecoming of Craig was an opportunity we could not pass up,” Sam Register, President of Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, said in a statement. “Along with his unparalleled sense of fun and imagination, he’s bringing two of his greatest works in The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and we are so excited for these characters to be a part of the new legacy taking shape at the studio.”

The Powerpuff Girls, which originally ran from 1998 to 2005, returned to small screen in 2016 without McCracken, whose involvement was prohibited due to a then-ongoing deal with Disney Television Animation. The reboot ran for three seasons and introduced a fourth Powerpuff Girl, Townsville’s first Black crimefighter Bliss, during 2017’s “Power of Four” special. The last new episode aired in June 2019.

A live-action CW reboot, titled Powerpuff, was first announced in 2020. A pilot starring Chloe Bennet (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Blossom, Dove Cameron (Schmigadoon!) as Bubbles and Broadway’s Yana Perrault as Buttercup was filmed in 2021, but was not picked up to series. Bennet has since exited the project, which TVLine is told remains in active development at the network.

As for Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, the reboot is being described as “an original preschool animated series, welcoming a new cast of preschool-aged imaginary friends,” according to the release. The OG Foster’s aired for six seasons and racked up seven Emmy awards, including multiple wins for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. Its last new episode aired in 2009.

Tristan Thompson Vacations in Mykonos with Mystery Woman Amid KhloΓ© Kardashian Baby News

The basketball star, 31, was spotted enjoying a relaxing holiday on the island of Mykonos on July 14, just one day after it was confirmed that he is expecting his second child, a boy, with ex KhloΓ© Kardashian via surrogate.

In photos from his seaside getaway, Tristan can be seen having fun in the sun as he sports a matching navy and teal paisley shirt and shorts set. The athlete completed his look with a silver chain necklace, watch, sunglasses, and white sneakers.

On July 13, a rep for KhloΓ© told E! News that the pair's 4-year-old daughter True Thompson will soon have a new playmate.

"We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November," the rep said. "KhloΓ© is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We'd like to ask for kindness and privacy so that KhloΓ© can focus on her family."

But, just because their family is expanding, that doesn't mean Tristan and KhloΓ© will be getting back together anytime soon.

An insider told E! that the pair "have not spoken since December outside of co-parenting matters," adding, "The baby was conceived via surrogate before it was revealed to KhloΓ© and the public that Tristan was having a baby with someone else in December."

In December, Maralee Nichols gave birth to a son she said was fathered by Tristan, who she sued for pregnancy and child-related expenses months earlier. Tristan later confirmed that the baby, who she named Theo, is his son and apologized to KhloΓ© on social media.

In addition to True and Theo, Tristan is also dad to son Prince, 5, who he shares with ex Jordan Craig.

Tristan's paternity scandal is also the reason why KhloΓ© has kept information about their little boy on the way under tight wraps.

"KhloΓ© kept the pregnancy a secret to protect surrogate privacy and safety," a second insider exclusively told E!. "To protect her mental health from judgement from the public as a result of Tristan's actions."

No matter what, both KhloΓ© and Tristan are committed to raising their little ones together.

"We're doing a great job and I'm really grateful that we're able to," KhloΓ© told E! News' Daily Pop in 2020. "I come from a family that... just because people aren't together doesn't mean you have to be rude or they're out of your life."

She added, "You know, when you can't rely on so many other people's help, it's so great that you have like, essentially he's your partner, he's True's dad. And I need his help more now."

Ted Cruz Says U.S. Supreme Court Was ‘Clearly Wrong’ About Its Decision To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

United State Senator Ted Cruz says the Supreme Court was “wrong” to legalize same-sex marriage on a federal level.

On June 26, 2015, in a 5 to 4 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court voted to legalize same-sex marriage after determining that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry under the 14th Amendment, highlighting that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. Now, just seven years later, Republican senator Ted Cruz is calling the Supreme Court’s decision a poor move, saying the court was “clearly wrong” in the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

“Obergefell, like Roe v. Wade, ignored two centuries of our nation’s history,” Cruz said Cruz said. “Marriage was always an issue that was left to the states. We saw states before Obergefell, some states were moving to allow gay marriage, other states were moving to allow civil partnerships. There were different standards that the states were adopting.”

He continued:” The way the Constitution set up for you to advance that position is convince your fellow citizens, that if you succeeded in convincing your fellow citizens, then your state would change the laws to reflect those views. In Obergefell, the court said, ‘No, we know better than you guys do, and now every state must, must sanction and permit gay marriage.'”

He went on to say: “I think that decision was clearly wrong when it was decided,” adding, “It was the court overreaching.”

New couple Chris Rock and Lake Bell go on romantic boat ride in Croatia

Chris Rock and Lake Bell were spotted going on a romantic boat ride in Croatia over the weekend.

The Hollywood pair were spotted getting cozy as they walked through the city of Dubrovnik on Sunday before hopping on a boat.

Rock, 57, and Bell couldn’t keep their hands off each other as they walked side-by-side.

The “No Strings Attached” actress, 43, even put her arm around the comedian while talking on the phone in the middle of the plaza.

While out and about, the “Fargo” actor sported a black T-shirt underneath a matching button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He completed the look with black jeans, brown dress shoes, a tan fedora and sunglasses.

Bell, on the other hand, wore a navy blue jumpsuit with black fringe at the ankle, a small gray tote and black heels.

Last week, the new couple was photographed holding hands while enjoying a walk along the boardwalk in the town of Trogir during their vacation.

Rock and Bell – who have remained quiet about their romance – first sparked dating rumors in June when they were spotted for the first time getting cozy at a Cardinals game in St. Louis.

A month later, the two were seen again leaving a dinner date at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif., over the Fourth of July weekend.

Rock split from his ex-wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, in 2016 after 20 years together. He has since been spotted with actresses Megalyn Echikunwoke and Carmen Ejogo.

As for Bell, she is in the midst of divorcing tattoo artist Scott Campbell after seven years of marriage.

The two split in October 2020 and share 5-year-old son Ozgood and 7-year-old daughter Nova.

Artist Thomas and consultant Chevremont just curated “Set It Off,” appearing in a splashy feature in Interview magazine as a couple to promote the exhibit.

But Page Six hears they’re done romantically and will be finishing up their commitments as Deux Femmes Noirs before splitting professionally as well.

“We ended our long-term personal relationship but remain committed to completing our current projects as Deux Femmes Noires,” Thomas and Chevremont told Page Six in a joint statement.

The pair first met in 2002 when Chevremont worked in acquisitions at The Studio Museum in Harlem and Thomas was the artist in residence.

They didn’t start dating though until meeting up again in Paris in 2011. Thomas was an artist in residence at Monet’s estate in Giverny, France, and Chevremont also happened to be in the city, according to the site Only Natural Diamonds. Both were married at the time.

Thomas proposed on New Year’s 2020. Chevermont told the site, “New Year’s Eve, we went out, and afterward we were in our living room and Mickalene came and sat next to me, handed me a box, and asked, ‘will you marry me?’”

They launched Deux Femmes Noires in 2018 to give a platform to women, people of color and queer artists. They worked on “The Aesthetics of Matter” for that year’s Volta Fair and “Brand New Heavies” last year at Pioneer Works.

Thomas is a top-tier artist known for her work using acrylic and rhinestones. A collage work of Chevremont titled, “Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit,” sold for $1.8 million at Christie’s New York last year.

Chevremont, who has worked as an art consultant for shows like “Empire,” recently made headlines for curating the art collection of the character Lisa Todd Wexley on the new Sex and the City series, “And Just Like That.”

Mark Fleischman, Former Studio 54 Owner, Dies By Assisted Suicide

Mark Fleischman, the legendary owner of New York hotspot Studio 54, has passed away at 82 from assisted suicide in Switzerland.

The news was confirmed by Fleischman’s business partner, who said that the self-described ‘80s “ringleader” had been suffering from a mysterious illness since 2016 that had left confined him to a wheelchair.

In a Facebook post, Mimi Fleischman said her husband of 27 year was “very brave” and had an “unusually peaceful” transition. “I am happy he is free but I will desperately miss my best friend, constant companion, adviser, supporter and mainly love,” she said. “I am so grateful for our time together.”

Mr. Fleischman announced his plans to die by suicide in an interview published last month in the New York Post. He had an undetermined degenerative condition that left him unable to walk or dress himself. He said he had attempted suicide two years ago, with an overdose of Xanax, but was revived at a hospital. Neurologists had been unable to diagnose the illness, Mr. Fleischman said.

Speaking to The Independent, Daniel Fitzgerald, who co-owned Century Club alongside Mr. Fleischman, explained that he had organised a “living wake” for his friend and partner on July 4, as he hoped he might be able to convince him not to go. “Everyone really had a good time, and we thought that he was going to stick around for a while, his brain was all there,” Fitzgerald said. “We thought that he was going to postpone it for a month but then I guess he didn’t. He was very strong-minded.”

At the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland, the nightclub owner was handed a lethal cocktail of barbiturates, and paid $15,000 for the service which included a cremation and the delivery of his ashes back to California to his wife, Mimi. A spokesman for Dignitas said they were unable to provide any details or confirm Mr. Fleischman had attended the clinic due to confidentiality and data protection regulations.

Owning the club during its glory years, Studio 54 gained a reputation for attracting A-list celebrities including Diana Ross, David Bowie, Andy Warhol and Liza Minnelli. Recalling his time working with Mr. Fleischman, Fitzgerald said: “He would be able to have fun but be really smart at the same time, and be really intelligent about figuring things out. He taught me a lot. He was a great mentor for me.”

R.I.P Mark Fleischman.

Alfonso Ribeiro Tapped to Co-Host DWTS with Tyra Banks

*Alfonso Ribeiro is returning to “Dancing with the Stars” to serve as co-host alongside Tyra Banks.

Word on the street is that show producers are slowly pushing Banks out and paving the way for Ribeiro to take over. His return to DWTS comes eight years after he won the winning the Mirrorball Trophy, Urban Hollywood 411 reports.

“Dancing with the Stars has been such an important part of my life for so many years, and I am ecstatic to officially re-join this tight-knit family as co-host,” Ribeiro said in a statement. “Tyra and I have a longstanding friendship that I hope will resonate with all of the fans at home as we kick off this new season on Disney+.”

Banks added, “Having such a fun-loving, longtime friend as co-host warms my heart. Plus, he’s won the competition before, so he knows exactly what the stars are going through. Bantering back and forth with him live is going to be so much fun!”

Per the report, Ribeiro and Banks will be joined by returning judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.

When the show returns in the fall, DWTS will debut exclusively on Disney+ in the U.S. and Canada. ABC previously announced that the dance competition series received a two-year pickup for Seasons 31 and 32, making it the first live series to debut on the streaming app.

“After over 30 seasons of the program on ABC, including two spin-offs, Dancing with the Stars will move off of ABC this fall in order for the Network to showcase several Monday Night Football games as well as develop and invest in new and future programming,” said the network.

“Dancing with the Stars has entertained fans for 16 years on ABC, and we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman, Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution. “The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for Dancing with the Stars while continuing to expand our demographic reach.”

Tasha K Loses Appeal in Cardi B Defamation Case + Lists House for Rent and Moves into Apartment

*YouTube vlogger Tasha K has reportedly lost her appeal to have Cardi B’s $4 million defamation lawsuit verdict tossed out.

Earlier this year, Tasha K admitted that she does not have the $4 million dollars a judge ordered her to pay after losing a defamation case against the rapper. She was also ordered to remove her disparaging Cardi B videos from her YouTube channel.

Last month, Tasha, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, reportedly filed paperwork with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. On Friday, the appeal was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction, SandraRose.com reports. “Which means Cardi’s lawyers can file documents with the sheriff’s office to garnish Tasha’s paychecks and seize her personal property, such as her home, cars, furniture, and stocks and bonds to satisfy the debt,” the outlet writes.

According to the report, amid her legal woes, Tasha and her family have moved out of their Lawrenceville, Georgia home and downsized to an apartment.

We previously reported that Tasha railed against “the machine” and “corporate interests” back in January after losing her case. In federal court, Tasha, and her company Kebe Studios LLC were found liable on 3 separate claims including defamation, invasion of privacy through false portrayal and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The judge awarded Cardi B (born Belcalis Marlenis AlmΓ‘nzar) $1 million in damages for pain & suffering due to reputational damages and an additional $3.8 million in damages.

The popular media personality was sued after she reportedly stated that “Cardi had a sexually transmitted disease, would perform sex acts on stage with bottles, and was a drug abuser,” per Hot New Hip Hop.

Speaking to her followers after the verdict, Tasha said in a YouTube video, “These last four years fighting this conspiracy case, have been extremely challenging … The verdict handed down on Monday was no shock to myself, my husband or my legal team.

“We called bluff against a machine that wanted to bully me for not wavering from my personal beliefs,” she continued. “A machine that has corporate interests to protect prostitution, drug use, promiscuity and to glorify the violence that wreaks havoc in our society and in our neighborhood.”

In the video, she claimed the “machine” threatened her life, and called the verdict “extremely prejudicial,” based “solely off sympathy and payola.”

According to SandraRose, Tasha K has listed her 5-bedroom, 4-bath, 5,000 sq. ft. Lawrenceville, Georgia home on July 3 for $5,000 a month rent.

Hot Boys Rapper B.G. Reportedly Denied Early Release From Prison Again

New Orleans rapper B.G. has reportedly once again been denied an early release from prison.

It’s been reported that despite letters of support from people like Birdman, Slim, Wendy Day, Gary Payton Sr., and others, U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan of New Orleans, Louisiana rejected the Hot Boys rapper’s handwritten request for a compassionate release on June 28.

“Dorsey complains of an outbreak of COVID-19 cases at his facility,” Morgan wrote. “But BOP’s website currently lists zero positive cases among inmates out of a total inmate population of 960 and one positive case among staff.”

B.G. has made numerous attempts to be released early with less than two years left of his 14-year federal prison term for possessing a firearm and tampering with witnesses.

After the Bureau of Prisons system went into lockdown due to unrest in USP Beaumont, he wrote his first motion from behind bars in February. He claimed that “murder and mayhem” were common in federal prisons and that the general public was unaware of what truly transpired there.

In addition to claiming that his health issues make him more vulnerable to COVID-19, he criticized his previous legal representation for its “incompetence” and denied attempts by the prosecution to “paint him as a violent individual due to his rap lyrics, adding that the only thing he’s ever killed was a microphone.”

Despite Morgan’s findings, Dorsey will have to complete his sentence since she did not find any gross neglect that may have affected the outcome of his second motion for compassionate release.

In one of the letters, Birdman described B.G. as being “like a son” to him and applauded his “change and grow in an unprecedented fashion.” He added, “He is not only a generational artist but he’s got a platform and the chance to share his experience to better today’s young men who need to hear what he’s got to say. When he is released, I know he will give back and use what he’s gone through to help as many people as possible.”

B.G. was one of the original members of Cash Money’s Hot Boys. He is expected to be released in 2024.

Drake Seemingly Confirms He Did Have a Run-in with Swedish Police

Last week, Drake‘s team denied rumors that the rapper was arrested in Sweden, however, the rapper just seemingly confirmed in an Instagram post that he did have a run-in with Swedish police.

In a series of pictures capturing his time in Sweden, the montage included a print-out that lists “information for those suspected if a crime and subsequently detained,” indicating that something happened.

Rumors circulated last week from a Swedish media outlet that the Toronto native was arrested on marijuana-related charges while partying at a local club.

The printed sheet lets the rapper know of his rights, which seem much more than Americans. The document notes he has the right to know what he’s being detained for, has a right to a defense attorney and can contact his country’s consulate and have messages sent and received on his behalf, among other things.

Texas Cop Lauded As A Hero For Preventing Possible Mall Shooting

A Houston police officer is being called a hero after preventing a potential mass shooting at a Texas mall back in February.

Sgt. Kendrick Simpo’s heroic actions took place earlier this year but are now gaining attention. The brave man was working an extra job at The Galleria when a call came over the radio that a man was in the area of Macy’s with a gun.

Simpo and a security guard headed in the direction of the suspect. He knew a dance competition was happening in the vicinity, so he did not draw his weapon.

“I did know there was a dance competition with little kids going on at the Westin Ballroom, so I didn’t pull my weapon out because I didn’t want to be running towards the Macy’s area, which is past the ballroom area, with the gun out and startle anyone,” he told ABC 13.

Simpo saw the man by the entrance to the Westin Ballroom holding a rifle, a Bible, and wearing a mask. All Simpo had on at the time was a soft vest and was only carrying a handgun. He knew he would be outmatched.

“I knew if a person did have a rifle and they were inside the mall; I was pretty much outnumbered because all I had was a handgun at the time,” Simpo explained. “My handgun and his rifle, I was already at a disadvantage.”

But the brave man tackled the suspect, Guido Herrera, and grabbed the gun. He was able to redirect the rifle so that it pointed toward the ceiling while he kept Herrera immobile until help arrived.

Herrera was quickly arrested and found to have 120 rounds of ammunition and a handgun. Since he did not fire the weapon, he was only charged with a misdemeanor under Texas law.

Shortly after the incident at The Galleria, Herrera was arrested for going to the Houston FBI headquarters and requesting a meeting with the director. He was charged with another misdemeanor when a handgun was discovered in his car.

Last week, Herrera was sentenced to one year in jail for the charge related to the mall incident.
