Awkwafina: For GLAMOUR Women of The Year Awards 2021I was saved by performing!
Actress Awkwafina said she was “saved” by her talents as a performer.
The Golden Globe-winning star of The Farewell was born in New York to Asian American parents and said she spent years “feeling different”.
Awkwafina, who has received the gamechanging creator award from Glamour, told the magazine: “Creating has 100% saved me. It’s given me hope, it’s instilled a sense of self that I was lacking as a kid.”
She added: “Feeling different was always a really constant emotion of mine and talking to a lot of kids often they feel that way, too.
“The main message that I want to give to those kids, because they might not see it now, is that those differences are going to set you apart. That’s a big message I wish I could have taught myself earlier.”
Awkwafina, whose real name is Nora Lum, has lent her voice to Disney’s animated fantasy film Raya And The Last Dragon.
The 32-year-old described the role as a dream come true.
“Special would even be an understatement,” she said. “When I was young my Disney VHS tapes were so used that you couldn’t resell them to anyone – you wouldn’t even know what they were!
“Disney was such an iconic part of my childhood. Those characters and movies and the things you learn from them, shape who you become. If I was a kid and I had seen a movie like this it would have changed how I looked at myself in the world.
“We want movies that ultimately reflect our real world and to combine that with something that’s also like a treasure from my childhood – it’s very powerful.”

#RHOA: Kenya Moore Questions Why She Ultimately Chose Ex Marc Daly After 'a Lot of Proposals'!
Before Kenya Moore turned 50, she took some time to reflect on past relationships and decisions made in her life — specifically, her marriage to now-estranged husband Marc Daly.
On Sunday's Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya had a phone chat with her dad, Ronald, and opened up about the state of her marriage.
"Since Marc and I have been separated, I just need a father's advice, and it's really brought us closer," Kenya told cameras.
At the time, Marc had recently filed for divorce — "He withdrew [the filing] 12 hours later," Kenya told her dad — from the Bravo star. The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement in place when they got married.
"I always tell people to have a prenup," Kenya said in a confessional. "I just didn't listen to my own advice."
The couple wed in June 2017 and welcomed their daughter, Brooklyn Doris, in November 2018. But less than a year later, in September 2019, they split for the first time. Following their decision to part ways, things seemed to be improving for the couple, with Kenya telling Andy Cohen in February 2020, "We're in a good place right now. We're trying to figure it out." But Marc confirmed this January that the pair had split once again.
Last month, Kenya clarified that Marc withdrew his divorce petition a day after filing. "For the record: Marc withdrew the divorce petition the next day and said that he was not asking for alimony in the filing and that we misinterpreted NY law. There has been no further divorce action to date. This scene was taped months ago," she tweeted on Feb. 28, adding the hashtags "#RHOA #itscomplicated."
On Sunday's episode, Kenya said she regretted not inviting her father to her and Marc's wedding: "I made the very bad decision not to invite my dad to my wedding because I didn't think my dad would get along with Marc, and I regret it."
Still, Kenya wanted to glean marriage advice from Ronald and told him that she had chosen to "continue with therapy" — a decision she made to help secure answers to questions she had been asking herself, including why she ultimately said "yes" to marrying Marc after receiving many proposals before his.
"I recently started therapy because I do have a lot of questions in terms of my behavior in my marriage," she said in a confessional. "I accepted a lot of things, like anger, dismissal and complete disrespect. I've had a lot of proposals in my lifetime, but why did I choose Marc in the end?"
To her dad, she said, "I'm having a big birthday coming up, and I don't want to be in limbo with my life."
Later on in the episode, Kenya paid a visit to her therapist, Dr. Kristy, with whom she discussed her relationship with Marc, as well as pain stemming from her relationship with her estranged mother.
"Things have been hanging in the balance the last couple of days with Marc and me. I don't know what my next move is, but therapy will be a good start to just help me get somewhere," she said in a confessional.
During the session, Dr. Kristy recalled how Kenya had spoken about "having men specifically in your life that are the same type."
"That I fall for," Kenya clarified. When Dr. Kristy pressed about "what else is under there" that led Kenya "into these relationships that are not healthy," the RHOA star admitted to seeking out partners that were "emotionally unavailable, 100 percent."
"Not very transparent," she continued. "I shared everything with my husband. I said, 'This is my list. If you have a problem with it, let me know now. This is who I am.' And he never gave me the same."
Kenya figured she would "give them time," believing that Marc would "come around." "That's how I've always operated in relationships like that," she said, remarking that she did "the same thing" with her mother "for 30 years."
"I was always trying to demand that she see me and that she acknowledge me," she said. "And that never happened." (In flashback footage from five years ago, viewers saw Kenya knock on her mother's door unannounced, and her mom lock it from the inside.)
Recalling her childhood, Kenya explained in a confessional that she was raised since infancy by her grandmother. "My mother, from 3 days old, gave me to my grandmother. I've had a lot to deal with growing up. I didn't want children until I was about 30 years old because I just was afraid to bring a child into chaos, or even treat my child as my mother treated me."
Growing emotional, a tearful Kenya told her therapist, "I'm always ending up in these relationships. It's the same."
The reality star said that she wanted "acknowledgement" from her mother, going on to open up about the pain she felt from her "treating me like I was invisible. My whole family sat back and watched my own mother be cruel to me and I wasn't protected."
As a result, "I got into trouble all the time and I fought all the time and I just started skipping school," Kenya told Dr. Kristy. She also said she "dated a man that was 11 years older than me at 15, and he was physically abusive."
"I feel like with my husband, with my mother, the things that they've said, it's like they make me feel like I'm the bad guy," Kenya said.
Reflecting on her relationship with Marc, Kenya felt he had been "cruel" to her.
"The things that have happened and have been said and done ... it's like, how can you not see that this is cruel? In his mind, it's been him against me. 'I'm going to try to break you because I am broken.' It's always angry communication," Kenya claimed, denying that she communicated angrily with him. "No. I have restraint. Anyone can tell you that. I don't scream and go crazy. I don't do that to people that I love. I can do it to people that I don't care for that way."
Looking ahead, Kenya wanted to focus on her happiness and daughter as she prepared to enter a new decade of life.
"My takeaway is to do my homework to really just sit down with my feelings. And I'm going to prioritize my happiness, and I'm going to give Brooklyn the family that she deserves — even if it doesn't look like how I initially thought it would," she told cameras.
In January — the same month that Kenya turned 50 — Marc confirmed their split in a statement to The Root. A rep for Kenya did not respond to a request for comment at the time.
"After recently attending mediation, Kenya and I have agreed to end our marriage. I will always have great care for her and look forward to amicably continuing to co-parent our daughter Brooklyn with an abundance of love and wisdom," the businessman said.
"As always, in addition to perpetual self-improvement, my primary focus will continue to be helping the underserved and people of color in Brooklyn to recover from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic," he continued. "This focus will take shape through using my restaurant as a 'Community Hub' where positive and diverse perspectives on important topics such as economic empowerment, social activism and political engagement can be highlighted in a safe and productive forum. I'm blessed to be a positive change agent for not just my family but also my community."

SZA admits she was “shocked and confused” by the success of “Good Days,” which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. “It wasn’t meant to be a single. It was just a song that I liked that I kinda put out as a snippet and then people liked it, but it’s like the type of song that I wouldn’t expect…It’s just honest vibes,” she told “CBS This Morning” last month.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Jaw-Dropping Oprah Interview: Royal Racism, Suicidal Thoughts And A Gender Reveal!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked Oprah Winfrey in a wide-ranging and deeply personal interview that aired on CBS Sunday night. Perhaps the most shocking, in a moment that nearly left Winfrey speechless, Markle alluded to possible racism within the royal family.
According to Markle, when she was pregnant with the couple’s son, Archie, a senior member of the family had expressed concern to Harry on multiple occasions about how dark the child's skin might be due to Markle being of mixed race. On top of that, Archie, the first person of color to be born into the royal family, would not receive a title or security from the family. Winfrey asked if Markle thought it was because of his race, admitting that it was a "loaded question." Markle responded, "But I can give you an honest answer. ... In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time — so we have in tandem the conversation of 'He won't be given security, he's not going to be given a title,' and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born."
Markle clarified that the conversations about Archie's skin tone were had with Harry, not with herself. Neither one was willing to divulge who had these concerns. Winfrey asked Harry about Markle's allegations when he eventually joined the interview, and he said that even before they were married, there were questions about what their children might look like, but he wasn't willing to add much more than that.
"That conversation, I'm never going to share," Harry said. "But at the time, it was a bit awkward. I was a bit shocked." He later added, "There were some real obvious signs before we even got married that this was gonna be really hard."
Elsewhere in the interview, Markle admitted to having suicidal thoughts early in her marriage as the tabloids constantly attacked her.
“I just didn’t want to be alive anymore,” she told Winfrey. “And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.” Markle later added, “I thought it would have solved everything for everyone.”
Markle said the situation grew so bad that, on the same day she told Harry what was going on, she accompanied him to an event because she was afraid of what she might do to herself if left alone. But what might be more shocking was the response she got when she sought help. According to Markle, she approached a member of the “institution” and expressed her feelings and her desire to get professional help, but was told she couldn’t because “it wouldn’t be good for the institution.”
Markle also took the opportunity to clear up a story that came out several months after her and Harry’s wedding. According to the story, in the days leading up to the wedding, Markle made Kate Middleton, Prince William’s wife, cry over a situation having to do with the flower girls’ dresses. According to Markle, the issue was correct, but Middleton was the one upset over the dresses and had made Markle cry.
“A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining — yes, the issue was correct — about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings,” Markle said. “And I thought, in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding, that it didn't make sense to not be just doing whatever — what everyone else was doing, which was trying to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot.”
But the entire interview wasn’t just airing the dirty laundry of the royal family. When Harry joined Markle and Winfrey, he revealed the sex of their second child. Harry and Meghan could barely contain themselves as he announced to the world that they will soon be welcoming a baby girl into the family.
“To have any child, to have any one or any two would have been amazing,” Harry said. “But to have a boy and then a girl, what more can you ask for.”
Twitter exploded with reactions to the interview. There has been a huge outpouring of support for Harry and Markle, while many people are hating on the royal family.

The 26th annual Critics Choice Awards unfolded Sunday night, while Oscar voting is underway through March 10. That means that the CCAs, presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, could actually have an impact on the Academy Awards nominations this year. TV winners could also sway the Emmys later this year.
Taye Diggs once again was master of ceremonies, and the show was an in-person/virtual hybrid with Diggs and some of the evening’s presenters live onstage in Los Angeles and nominees appearing live remotely from various locations around the world.

#NBAALLSTARWEEKEND Steph Curry Sinks Final Shot For Second 3-Point Title!
Stephen Curry shot his way to another 3-point title and Domantas Sabonis made sure the Skills Challenge still belongs to the bigs.
Curry, the Golden State Warriors superstar, provided a dramatic preview for his seventh All-Star Game appearance when he sank his final 3-pointer to edge Utah's Mike Conley for the title on Sunday night. Curry also won the 3-point content in 2015.
Conley had the lead with 27 points before Curry was the final shooter of the contest. Curry had 26 points before sinking his final shot from the corner for 28 points and the win.
"I could hear the temperature rise a little bit," Curry said of the reaction from the small crowd allowed in State Farm Arena.
"It was some awesome competition," Curry said. "I’m glad I got it done."
After a runner-up finish to 2020 Skills Challenge winner and fellow big man Bam Adebayo of Miami, Indiana’s Sabonis returned to win the title.
The 6-foot-11 Sabonis did not miss a pass or 3-point shot in elimination wins over Julius Randle of the New York Knicks and Luka Doncic of Dallas in the test of passing, ball-handling and shooting ability. Doncic fell behind by missing in his first two tests of his passing accuracy.
Sabonis beat Orlando’s 7-foot Nikola Vucevic in the matchup of big men for the skills title. Each missed two 3-point shots before Sabonis sank his third attempt and then clenched his fist in victory.
"It was fun," Sabonis said. "I wanted to come out and make sure I got it done this time."
Curry had 31 points in the first round to lead the contest. Also advancing were Jayson Tatum, with 25 points, and Conley, with 28.
Tatum led off the final round with 17 points while making only one shot from the "money ball" rack. Conley nearly duplicated his first-round total and it appeared it might be enough until Curry solidified his reputation as one of the top shooters in NBA history.

Rachel Lindsay Returns to Instagram Following Harassment!
Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay has returned to Instagram following the brief deactivation of her account last week due to harassment from Bachelor viewers. On Saturday, Lindsay posted a photo of sunflowers, with the caption, “I want to be like a sunflower so that even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight.” Her return to the platform was met with support from the Bachelor community. “So happy to have you back, hoping you are feeling refreshed and loved,” Chelsea Vaughn, a contestant on the current season of The Bachelor, commented. Lindsay also posted a landscape photo to her Instagram Stories, with the caption, “Good vibes only.”
Lindsay’s return to Instagram follows her acceptance of Chris Harrison’s apology this week. “For us to move forward, I need to accept the apology, so we can all be better from this situation, which is what we want,” Lindsay said on Extra. Harrison, who announced his hiatus from the franchise following his defense of Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell in an Extra interview with Lindsay, said he is “committed to progress, not just for myself, also for the franchise,” on Good Morning America. Even though Kardashian has already filed to divorce her rapper husband, it appears all hope may not be lost for the couple. According to an exclusive March 6 report from HollywoodLife, the “Power” lyricist believes he can win back the reality star’s love because “she will realize what she is missing.”
“Kanye honestly feels that he can get Kim back,” an insider exclusively told the gossip outlet. “There is so much strain thanks to so many obstacles with quarantine and both of them wanting to live in different parts of the country, to the kids and to his overall health. He is realistic and knows that co-parenting is the way forward since Kim has had enough, but he feels it can be used as a breather to where distance will make the heart grow fonder and she will realize what she is missing.”
The source added, “Kanye wants to take the uphill battle, that is why he wears the ring. He is committed to Kim whether or not she is to him and whatever any future paperwork happens to say.”

Bruno Mars Defends Himself Against Cultural Appropriation Accusations!
Bruno Mars has responded to accusations that he appropriates Black culture in his musical work.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club on Friday, the Grammy award-winning artist said, "You can't find an interview where I haven't talked about the entertainers who have come before me. The only reason I'm here is because of James Brown, Prince, Michael."
"This music comes from love and if you can't hear that, I don't know what to tell you," he added.
Mars -- who was born to a Filipino mother and a half Puerto-Rican, half Ashkenazi Jewish father -- went on to explain that musicians learn from artists who have come before them and likens using those artists as inspiration to athletes using NBA legend Michael Jordan as a blueprint for their athletic careers.
"What Bruno Mars does, is he takes pre-existing work and he just completely, word-for-word recreates it, extrapolates it," Sensei said. "He does not create it, he does not improve upon it, he does not make it better."
Interview host Charlamagne tha God pressed Mars on whether this criticism ever gets to him.
"It comes with the gig," Mars said. "There's real merit to what people are saying about Black entertainers not getting their flowers."
Mars shared that he wears his heart on his sleeve and hopes other artists will take inspiration from his work the way he's taken inspiration from others.
"I hope that later on, down the road, there's going to be a band that's taking what we did and flipping that, and freaking that, and putting their own spin on it -- because if they don't, then what was the point of us doing this?"
“The Patrick Star Show” Is Coming To Nickelodeon!
Our favorite sponge’s best friend is getting their show! Nickelodeon has officially given the green light to Spongebob Squarepants spinoff The Patrick Star Show.
If you were ever curious about how Patrick grew up to be who he is, then this new series is for you. According to Deadline, the show will follow a younger Patrick living at home with his family. It kind-of adopts the whole “show within a show” concept introduced with iCarly since Patrick will be hosting “his own show for the neighborhood from his television-turned-bedroom.”
Viewers will meet Patrick’s sister, Squidina, who works behind the scenes of his show, as well as his parents, who frequently indulge in his antics.

CDC Unveils Guidelines for Vaccinated Americans, Including Small Gatherings With Unvaccinated People!
As vaccination efforts are underway across the country, on Monday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued updated guidelines for Americans who have received their full COVID-19 vaccinations.

The New York Times reports that people who have been fully vaccinated will be able to safely hold small gatherings with other households, and they’ll be able to do it without having to wear masks or enforce social distancing. In fact, the CDC says that anyone who has been vaccinated can hold a small gathering with visitors from one unvaccinated household, so long as they themselves have received both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. If members of more than two households are convening, social distancing and masks are still advised, and it’s suggested the gathering move outside.
“For example, fully vaccinated grandparents can visit indoors with their unvaccinated healthy daughter and her healthy children without wearing masks or physical distancing, provided none of the unvaccinated family members are at risk of severe COVID-19,” said the CDC in a statement, per NBC News. “This guidance represents a first step toward returning to everyday activities.”
Vaccinated Americans don’t need to get tested or quarantine if they have knowingly exposed themselves to the virus granted they don’t develop symptoms, but if they do develop symptoms they will have to isolate, get tested, and speak with a doctor. In public, people who have been vaccinated are still required to wear masks and socially distance, and they should continue to avoid any large or medium gatherings.
Despite the arrival of the new guidelines, which aren’t legally binding and are recommendations to state public health officials, there has been no revision to any travel recommendations. All Americans have been advised to avoid travel when and if possible, and that goes for any vaccinated individuals, too.
It is expected that the advice will be updated as more Americans are vaccinated and new data becomes available. The guidelines come as the CDC has announced there’s “a growing body of evidence” that suggests fully vaccinated people are less likely to have asymptomatic infections, and as a resuly are “potentially less likely to transmit the virus that causes COVID-19 to other people.” Despite this, it has been noted that vaccinated people can still inadvertently transmit COVID-19.
The pandemic isn’t over, but at least we’re moving in the right direction.
Jury Selection On Pause For Ex-Cop Charged In Floyd’s Death!
The judge overseeing the trial of a former Minneapolis police officer accused in the death of George Floyd on Monday paused jury selection for at least a day while an appeal proceeds over the possible reinstatement of a third-degree murder charge.
As hundreds of protesters gathered outside the courthouse to call for the conviction of Derek Chauvin, Judge Peter Cahill said he does not have jurisdiction to rule on whether the third-degree murder charge should be reinstated against the former officer while the issue is being appealed. But he said prosecutors’ arguments that the whole case would be impacted were “tenuous.”
Cahill planned to go ahead with the trial anyway and initially ruled jury selection would begin as scheduled on Monday. But after prosecutors filed a request with the Court of Appeals to put the case on hold, the judge sent the potential jurors home for the day. Cahill called a recess to give the Court of Appeals time to respond, but planned to bring attorneys back into the courtroom Monday afternoon to deal with other matters.
Cahill said the trial would proceed unless the higher courts told him to stop.
Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter in Floyd’s death. The Court of Appeals last week ordered Cahill to consider reinstating a third-degree murder charge that he had dismissed. Legal experts say reinstating the charge would improve the odds of getting a conviction.
Chauvin’s attorney, Eric Nelson, said Monday he would ask the state Supreme Court to review the appellate ruling. He has 30 days to seek a review.
For the unintentional second-degree murder charge, prosecutors have to prove that Chauvin’s conduct was a “substantial causal factor” in Floyd’s death, and that Chauvin was committing felony assault at the time. For third-degree murder, they must prove that Chauvin’s actions caused Floyd’s death, and that his actions were reckless and without regard for human life.
Floyd was declared dead May 25 after Chauvin, who is white, pressed his knee against the handcuffed Black man’s neck for about nine minutes, holding his position even after Floyd went limp. Floyd’s death sparked sometimes violent protests in Minneapolis and beyond, and led to a nationwide reckoning on race.
Chauvin and three other officers were fired; the others face an August trial on aiding and abetting charges.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the courthouse as proceedings began, many carrying signs that read, “Justice for George Floyd” and “Convict Killer Cops.”
One speaker took a microphone and decried the concrete barriers topped by chain-link fencing, barbed wire and razor wire set up around the courthouse. DJ Hooker, 26, also ridiculed talk of the Chauvin trial as “the trial of the century,” saying the jury simply needs to “do the right thing.”
Then he led the crowd in chants of “The whole world is watching!”
Inside the courtroom, Chauvin, in a blue suit and black mask, followed the proceedings attentively, making notes on a legal pad. Bridgett Floyd, George Floyd’s sister and founder of the George Floyd Memorial Foundation, sat in the seat allocated to Floyd’s family. No one attended to support Chauvin.
Once jury selection starts, it is expected to take at least three weeks, as prosecutors and defense attorneys try to weed out people who may be biased against them.
“You don’t want jurors who are completely blank slates, because that would mean they’re not in tune at all with the world,” Susan Gaertner, a former prosecutor, said. “But what you want is jurors who can set aside opinions that have formed prior to walking into the courtroom and give both sides a fair hearing.”
Nelson earlier argued that pretrial publicity of the case and the subsequent violent unrest in Minneapolis would make it impossible to find an impartial jury in Hennepin County. But Cahill said last year that moving the trial probably wouldn’t cure the problem of a potentially tainted jury pool because “no corner of the State of Minnesota” has been shielded from pretrial publicity.
The potential jurors — who must be at least 18, U.S. citizens and residents of Hennepin County — were sent questionnaires to determine how much they have heard about the case and whether they’ve formed any opinions. Besides biographical and demographic information, jurors were asked about prior contacts with police, whether they have protested against police brutality and whether they believe the justice system is fair.
Some of the questions get specific, such as how often a potential juror has watched the bystander video of Floyd’s arrest, or whether they carried a sign at a protest and what that sign said.
Mike Brandt, a local defense attorney, said prosecutors will likely seek out jurors who have favorable opinions on the Black Lives Matter movement or might have more outrage over Floyd’s death, while Chauvin’s attorneys would likely favor jurors who support the police.
Unlike typical jury selection proceedings, potential jurors will be questioned individually rather than in a group. The judge, defense attorney and prosecutors will all get to ask questions. The defense can object to up to 15 potential jurors without giving a reason; prosecutors can block up to nine without providing a reason. Either side can object to these peremptory challenges if they believe the sole reason for disqualifying a juror is race or gender.
Both sides can also argue to dismiss an unlimited number of jurors “for cause,” meaning they must provide a reason why they believe that juror shouldn’t serve. Those situations can get into “some tortured questioning,” Brandt said. It’s up to the judge to decide whether a juror stays or goes.
He said that even if a juror says they have had a negative interaction with the police or hold negative views about Black Lives Matter, the key will be trying to find out whether they can put those past experiences or opinions aside and be fair.
“We all walk into these with biases. The question is, can you put those biases aside and be fair in this case,” he said.
Jury selection will end after 14 people are picked — 12 jurors who will deliberate the case and two alternates who won’t be part of deliberations unless needed. The jurors will be escorted to the courthouse daily and sequestered during deliberations. Their names will be kept confidential until further order of the court.
The number of seats in the courtroom has been limited to maintain social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and seats for jurors have been spaced out. Like others in the courtroom, jurors will be required to wear masks.
The earliest opening statements will begin is March 29.
