Kiki Layne From “Coming 2 America” Covers L’Officiel Magazine!

“Coming 2 America” star KiKi Layne is featured on L’Officiel’s new cover, and in the interview, she talks about defying boundaries and representing Black women and creators in Hollywood.

On her leading role in the upcoming Disney reimagining of Rescue Rangers: “I imagine what that would have meant for me to see that, among all these animated characters, the one human being that’s the star looks like me,” she says. “That’s what I push for. When I’m looking for projects, I always carry this idea of What does this represent to the little Black girl that still lives in me?”

On working with Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter: “I mean, it was insane from the first conversation that I had with Ruth.” She praises Carter for just “getting” the character of Meeka in Coming 2 America. “You see that break from tradition,” she explains. “Some of Meeka’s nose jewelry, her chains, all that stuff. These unique cuts. It was beautiful storytelling.”

“Just getting to play an African princess was already amazing,” Layne tells L’Officiel about her role in Coming 2 America. “But Meeka also has so much strength and integrity. She gets to kick some ass. Just representing another strong Black woman on screen, representing Black royalty and beauty and excellence—I was so drawn to that.”

#RHOA: Is Kenya Moore’s Native American Halloween costume 'super problematic'? Some think so!

Kenya Moore is being accused of cultural appropriation after going to a Halloween soiree dressed as an indigenous person in the latest episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

During a tense episode for the star, her RHOA costars were quick to call the 50-year-old out about the tasteless look at the party and later in their solo confessionals.

And, after the episode aired Sunday on night, viewers joined in on social media to slam the reality star for her insensitive choice.

During the night of the event Kenya described her costume as a 'warrior princess'.

However, between the full feathered headdress and the fact that the show wrote 'Native American' on the screen, people were clearly not buying it.

Fellow Housewife Drew Sidora made a crack about the ensemble during her confessional.

'Kenya's Native American costume is super problematic but I ain't trying to ruffle no feathers for this girls trip,' she said. 'It seems like I'm the only one who sees the issues with Kenya Moore's decisions.'

Drew was decidedly not the only person in the group to take umbrage with Kenya's costume as Porsha Williams also made her distaste known during the part.

'Kenya is a Native American warrior,' she quipped. 'I thought we weren't doing that no more. I knew that this girl was crazy, but add lame to the list, add whack to the list.'

On social media, users wasted no time in calling Kenya out for her cultural appropriation and the mother of one actually jumped in to defend herself at one point.

'Kenya is a Native American warrior. I thought we weren't doing that no more. I knew that this girl was crazy, but add lame to the list, add whack to the list,' Porsha Williams quipped, her comments echoed on social media

Several people dubbed the cultural appropriation 'disgusting'.

In one exchange where she was called out for not only wearing the costume but for previously throwing 'shade' at Porsha for her work with Black Lives Matter, Kenya responded that her costume was 'also part of my heritage.'

The issue about Kenya's costume came amid a tense episode where she protested that there was no reason for her costars to be so unkind to her.

'I have done nothing to those b****es; nothing,' she insisted.

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta season 13 airs on Sunday nights on Bravo.

#HipHopNews: Phife Dawg, Redman & Busta Rhymes Resurrect That New York Sh*T For 'Nutshell Pt. 2' Video!

A Tribe Called Quest suffered a crippling blow when beloved member and certifiable Hip Hop legend Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor passed away on March 22, 2016. On the fifth anniversary of Phife’s death, his estate has unleashed a video component for the recently released single “Nutshell Pt. 2” featuring Busta Rhymes and Redman.

The visual finds the Five-Foot Assassin lyrically dominating the DJ Rasta Root-produced beat with a heavy assist from Bus-A-Bus and the inimitable Redman as well as cameo appearances from Rasta Root, Q-Tip, Consequence and his son Cadence.

As Phife demonstrates with “Nutshell Pt. 2,” he had a penchant for rhyming that could rival any MC.

“Peep the rebirth of the reborn as I rebuild/Reconnect with this rebel, redefining raw skill,” he spits in the opening verse. “I realign, readjusted, refocused/Reanalyzed what’s real versus bullshit/Had to refuel, reactivate to reemerge/Reevaluate, recalculate, bitch I return/Redefine, re-energize, get reacquainted/Riddim Kidz Incorporated, Roots, we made it.”

Although Phife was only 45 at the time of his death, he accomplished more in life than most artists dream of — including four Grammy Award nominations, a street named after him and a legacy that will live on forever.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HORROR! 10 Dead In Mass Shooting At Colorado Supermarket! Victims and Gunman Identified!

Police say the suspected shooter is in custody after the shooting at King Soopers that left multiple dead,

A gunman killed 10 people, including one police officer, in a mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, on Monday

Boulder police said one person is in custody after officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired near a King Soopers grocery store and a call about a person possibly “with a patrol rifle.”

“We had a very tragic incident today,” Commander Kerry Yamaguchi of the Boulder Police Department said during a news conference Monday evening. “There was loss of life, we have multiple people who were killed in this incident, and I am sorry to have to report that one of them was a Boulder police officer.”

Police Chief Maris Herold identified the suspect as Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa of Arvada, a suburb of Denver about 20 miles from Boulder. Michael Dougherty, the district attorney in Boulder County, said he had “lived most of his life in the United States.”

Chief Herold said the suspect had been taken into custody with a leg injury but was in stable condition and was expected to be taken to jail later on Tuesday.

Among the victims was Officer Eric Talley, 51, with the Boulder Police Department, who had responded to a “barrage” of 911 calls about the shooting, the chief said. The authorities identified the nine additional victims as Denny Strong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Teri Leiker, 51; Kevin Mahoney, 61; Lynn Murray, 62; and Jody Waters, 65.

Multiple federal agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, were assisting the state in its investigations. Local officials said they would do everything they could for the victims, to “fight for them and their families.”

“This is a tragedy and a nightmare for Boulder County,” Dougherty said at the first news conference, adding that there is already an investigation underway. “We will stand united in support of the victims and their families to ensure that justice is done.”

At a second press conference, Dougherty encouraged people nationwide to send their thoughts and prayers to families of victims, but “from my perspective, there’s more for us to do than to just give them our thoughts and prayers.”

“This is not the first mass shooting we’ve had in the state of Colorado,” he said. “One thing that’s happened in response to each and every one, including today’s horrific acts, is the response that we have from” law enforcement, victim advocates, investigators and prosecutors.

A man who identified himself as a videographer and journalist said in a YouTube livestream that he was near the King Soopers when he heard several gunshots. The videographer, who was later identified as Dean Schiller in an interview with the local Fox station, said he saw multiple “bodies on the ground,” including one outside the store’s front door and one in the parking lot.

“Hey, guys, I have a couple friends in there, so let’s pray that they’re doing all right,” said the man, whose YouTube account ZFG Videography describes his work as documenting Boulder-area police activity.

A witness told KDVR-TV that he was on his way to pick up coffee at the supermarket when he came upon the shooting scene.

“I was in shock initially, when we realized what was happening,” he told the station. “Once I called my mom and said I was OK and let her know what was happening, it all kind of sunk in, and I started panicking.”

The livestream showed local police telling the shooter through a speaker that law enforcement had surrounded the building and for the shooter to come outside immediately.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office told Denver station KUSA-TV that its SWAT team also arrived to assist with the situation. The ATF tweeted at 4:21 p.m. MDT that it was responding to the scene. The area quickly became filled with law enforcement, firetrucks and ambulances.

Police use an armored vehicle as a shield to move from one side of the building to the other at King

Police reportedly attempted to ram through the building using vans that were apparent in the livestream, according to the videographer. After more officers showed up, police then began to enter the building.

Law enforcement then walked out with a handcuffed man wearing only underwear and with blood on his leg, as shown in the graphic video below by Reuters.

At least half a dozen people were then seen being escorted out of the building by police, as apparent on the video.

“We are forever grateful to the grocery workers, customers and the first responders who acted swiftly to prevent even greater loss of life – protecting our members and all those in danger inside the store,” said Kim Cordova, president of UFCW Local 7, which represents 32 grocery workers at the King Soopers store.

“This senseless act of evil also highlights and shines a light on the best of human nature. There are news reports that after gunshots rang out, grocery workers helped customers in the store find safety, directing shoppers to an exit at the back of the store and assisted one another to escape the danger inside.”

James Bentz was in the supermarket’s meat section when he heard what he thought was a gun misfire, then several pops of gunfire, he told The Denver Post.

“I was then at the front of the stampede,” he told the Post, adding that he witnessed younger people in the store taking care of the older people and helping them escape through the back loading dock.

“It seemed like all of us had imagined we’d be in a situation like this at some point in our lives,” he said.

King Soopers employees are led away from an active shooter at the grocery store.

A man told Denver’s CBS station that he got a call from his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, who had gone into the store’s pharmacy for a COVID-19 vaccine when someone “shot the woman in front of them.” He said that his family hid in a coat closet for over an hour, texting him throughout, until police helped them safely evacuate.

“I called Boulder home for many years and sent my son to high school there,” said Shannon Watts, founder of the anti-gun violence group Moms Demand Action, in a statement. “My heart is with all those in the community devastated by this senseless shooting. We can’t and won’t accept gun violence in our supermarkets to spas to our homes, as just another fact of life. It’s past time for our leaders to act and protect us from gun violence.”

“My heart is breaking as we watch this unspeakable event unfold in our Boulder community,” tweeted Colorado Gov. Jared Polis. “I’m incredibly grateful to the brave men and women who have responded to the scene to help the victims of this senseless tragedy.”

Bobby Brown Jr. Died Of Effects Of Alcohol, Cocaine, Fentanyl, Autopsy Says!

Bobby Brown Jr., the son of R&B singer Bobby Brown, died in November of the "combined effects of alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl," according to an autopsy report released Monday by the Los Angeles County coroner.

The 15-page report said "no drugs or drug paraphernalia" were discovered at the scene in Encino, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, where Robert Barisford Brown Jr. was found dead Nov. 18.

Brown Jr., 28, was the son of Kim Ward and Bobby Brown. His death was the latest in a series of tragedies for his extended family.

The elder Bobby Brown, 52, lost daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown in 2015, when she was 22. Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of Brown and the beloved artist Whitney Houston, was found facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub in January 2015. She was in a coma for six months before she died.

Houston, a seven-time Grammy Award winner, was found submerged in a bathtub in a hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on Feb. 11, 2012.

The elder Brown began his singing career as a member of the R&B group New Edition. He later became a solo artist with hits such as "My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step."

"Hey, so I've been working out consistently for the last five years," she began the video. "And it may come as a surprise to some of y'all that I'm not working out to have your ideal body type. I'm working out to have my ideal body type. And you know what type that is? None of your fucking business."

Gervonta Davis Charged With 14 Counts Of Traffic Violations From Alleged Hit-And-Run In Baltimore!

Gervonta Davis will now have to speak to charges implicating the boxer in a hit-and-run incident which left four people injured.

The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s office has charged the unbeaten two-division titlist with 14 counts of traffic violations stemming from a Nov. 2020 hit-and-run in the boxer’s hometown. The most serious charges suggest that Davis allegedly fled the scene of an accident involving bodily injury (four counts), along with driving on the highway while his license was suspended and revoked—each of which separately carry a maximum one-year sentence.

The following are a detailed list of charges presented against the boxer, according to a press release from the State’s Attorney’s office on Monday:

1.     Four counts of Failure to immediately return and remain at scene of accident involving bodily injury (1 year)

2.     Failure of driver involved in accident to render reasonable assistance to injured person (60 days)

3.     Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to furnish req. ID and license (60 days)

4.     Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to exhibit license to police (60 days)

5.     Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to report to nearest police (60 days)

6.     Failure of vehicle driver in accident to locate and notify owner of unattended property of damage (60 days)

7.     Failure of vehicle driver in accident to furnish required ID information in writing on unattended vehicle property (60 days)

8.     Person driving motor vehicle on highway on suspended license and privilege (1 year)

9.     Person driving motor vehicle on highway on revoked license and privilege (1 year)

10.   Driving motor vehicle on highway without required license and authorization (60 days)

11.   Driver fail to stop at steady circular red signal.

According to the press release, Davis will face a maximum of 7 years and 55 days in prison if convicted on all charges.

Davis (24-0, 23KOs) was named by witnesses as the driver of a 2020 Lamborghini Uris which ran a red light and struck the passenger side of a 2004 Toyota Solara at 1:47 a.m. on November 5, 2020. A red light camera located at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 700 Washington Boulevard picked up the incident according to existing court documents with the Baltimore Circuit Court—a copy of which records have been obtained by BoxingScene.com.

Police officers responded to the incident in question at approximately 1:55 a.m.

Four people were injured in the incident, though none were life threatening and all of whom were treated at University of Maryland Shock Trauma. As a result, each of the 14 counts filed against Davis are classified as misdemeanors and not felony charges.

“Fortunately, the victims in this case were able to survive this alleged hit-and-run collision with recoverable injuries despite the potential for a far worse scenario,” said State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby in a statement. “My office will continue to do our part to hold reckless drivers accountable when their harmful actions put innocent lives in jeopardy.

The case was officially entered into the Baltimore City Circuit Court on Monday. A court date has yet to be assigned.

Filed charges against the boxer come as Mosby and her husband, Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby remain under criminal investigation by federal prosecutors, alleging misconduct. The couple’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden has vehemently denied all charges, dismissing the case as a “political witch hunt.”

The hit-and-run in question took place less than a week after Davis’ most recent win, a 6th round knockout of Leo Santa Cruz last Halloween at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Showtime Pay-Per-View event—which saw Davis regain his WBA junior lightweight title while retaining a secondary version of the WBA lightweight belt—was the lone fight on the year for the boxer, although a year which saw him run into additional legal trouble.

Davis is still the subject of an open court case in Miami, alleging three counts of misdemeanor battery, including simple battery domestic violence. The foundation of the charges come from video footage obtained from a charity basketball event which took place during Super Bowl week in Miami. Davis was arrested last February, though with the case delayed several times. The trial is set to resume on April 19, according to Miami-Dade County Court records.

A next fight date has yet to be announced for Davis, beyond rumors of the southpaw knockout artist potentially headlining a Showtime Pay-Per-View event in June.

Bernice King Comes to Justin Bieber's defense on his 'Justice' project Amid Backlash!

Justin Bieber faced backlash last week after releasing his new album Justice, which begins with an audio clip from the late Martin Luther King Jr.

The album begins with MLK Jr. saying, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” There’s also a nearly two-minute track titled “MLK Interlude” that follows that moment.

Justin received backlash for tying in MLK Jr. into the album because people couldn’t find a connection between him and the music.

Before the album was even released, Justin explained that he was supporting organizations, including The King Center, in honor of the album. He said, “In honor of #Justice I’m supporting organizations that embody what justice looks like in action.”

MLK Jr.’s daughter Bernice King responded to Justin‘s tweet and expressed her support for him and the album.

“Each of us, including artists and entertainers, can do something. Thank you, @justinbieber, for your support, in honor of #Justice, of @TheKingCenter’s work and of our #BeLove campaign, which is a part of our global movement for justice. #MLK #EndRacism,” she tweeted.

Signed Jay-Z Trading Card Sold for a Record-Breaking Price!

Dinner with Jay-Z or having over $100k to blow on a trading card?

Last week, a 2005 Topps “Signs Of Stardom” trading card signed by the Jigga Man was up for sale by Goldin Auctions. The 1-of-1 card was initially lingering around the $2,000 mark on the online auction site before one buyer started to heat up the race. Eventually, the sale closed at $105,780 which is the most spent on any non-sport/TCG card.

“An all-time record for any non-sports/TCG card,” the auction site said in an Instagram post.

Jay-Z’s success outside of rap only adds to the legend he created by being one of the best MCs to ever do it. His status as a cross-cultural icon was evident by the bread that was blown to secure this trading card. Along with Hov, a Giannis Antetokounmpo Precious Metal Gems rookie card sold for nearly $100,000. Also, a 1992 Little Sun High School prospect card signed by Derek Jeter sold for over $60,000 which is the most spent on any Jeter card.

‘Us’ vs. ‘Them:’ Twitter labels new Amazon series a Jordan Peele rip-off!

“Them,” a new Amazon Prime TV series executive produced by Lena Waithe, has been roasted by fans comparing it to Jordan Peele films, specifically the horror movies “Get Out” (2017) and 2019’s “Us” — which broke box office records for the horror genre.

A trailer that debuted Monday — ironically, exactly two years to the date when “Us” hit theaters — shows a black family moving into a home in what seems to be a predominately white neighborhood in 1950s America.

“It’s bigger than it looked in the pictures,” comments the family matriarch, portrayed by Deborah Ayorinde.

“You couldn’t imagine a nicer place to live,” says a voiceover ominously. Things take a haunting turn when white neighbors begin to spew out racist vitriol at the young family.

“This is how it begins. With one family,” comments a blonde housewife, played by Alison Pill, who promises to make things “worse” for them.

But these folks are much more sadistic, as they deface the family’s home and front lawn with effigy hangings reminiscent of a Jim Crow-era lynching. The family is then forced to defend themselves against the extreme hatred and cruelty which threatens their existence — and even some otherworldly monsters that haunt them.

The show, which is also executive produced by Little Marvin, has fans labeling it a “knockoff” and “copycat” of Peele’s past work while another pointed out it’s “both Jordan Peele movies combined.”

“This feels like someone whos never seen a Jordan Peele movie describing what a Jordan Peele movie is like,” one commenter wrote.

“Jordan Peele has given us two black horror movies and now they’re copying him already,” added another.

One Twitter user even poked fun at the series’ title, “they even ripped off the ‘Us’ title and called it ‘THEM.’ “

One fan was angry that the show is directed by a “white man.” And while the 10 episodes have one black director, Janicza Bravo, IMDB lists the remaining nine episodes as directed by white men.

Others who appreciate Peele’s work suggested that there’s plenty of topics to explore with black actors as leads within the horror genre without bringing up racism.

“I appreciate Jordan Peele for getting black folks into the horror genre but black horror does not have to center around white folks all the time like damn,” said one critic. “These directors, writers and producers love shopping around black trauma for reactions and sales. Just one light hearted movie would do but no we’re expected to sit through this,” added another.

However, some who have already seen the show say otherwise, such as journalist Jeandra LeBeauf who gave it a great review: “This is going to be THE series to watch. I was fortunate to screen during #sxsw and it is 😱 Amazing writing, storytelling and can we get into this talented and beautiful starring cast?”

“Them” drops on Amazon Prime Video on April 9.

Gary Owen's Wife Kenya Duke Speaks Out About Divorce & Mentions Claudia Jordan!

Kenya may be suggesting that one of Claudia's friends is somehow involved in the pending divorce.

Another Hollywood couple is calling it quits. We previously reported that comedian Gary Owen and his wife, Kenya Duke, have decided to part ways after 18-years-old marriage. Owen is known for his jokes about being in an interracial relationship as well as his love for Black women, and while he often speaks out on pop culture, Owen has remained quiet about his personal life. Kenya, on the other hand, shared a puzzling post where she accuses her estranged husband of being unfaithful but it was her inclusion of Fox Soul host and actress Claudia Jordan that confused the public.

"Tried to be quiet out of respect for my kids but @claudiajordan has me on one this morning," wrote Kenya. "23 years together Gary didn't have sh*t but a raggedy pick up and good credit, no place to live. Dallas, TX your old ass should know better -Married not separated-married @garyowencomedy all the energy you spent lying, acting and creating a fake narrative for these b*tches that want to be me, you could have done it with a veggie burger and a glass of fake filtered water."

People have taken to social media to decipher Kenya's caption, but it seems that there may be information that she's purposefully keeping secret in entangled language. She made sure to add a few more thoughts while clarifying that Claudia Jordan is not the other woman, but it may be the talk show host's friend. "#whitewomenarenotinvolved #notclaudia #claudiasfriend #draggingmebackto98th/MacArthur street mindset [face palm emoji]."

"I've worked so hard and come so far," Kenya continued. "I bought a package of 5 therapy sessions but don't start until the 29th." Gary remains tight-lipped.

Why Kanye West 'Doesn't Believe' Kim Kardashian Will Really Divorce Him!

Seems like Kanye West doesn’t take his impending divorce from Kim Kardashian seriously.

According to a March 21 report from HollywoodLife, the “Power” rapper “doesn’t believe” his estranged wife will really go through with her plans to dissolve their marriage, despite reports suggesting the contrary. In case you haven’t been keeping up, Kim filed to end her 7-year marriage to the hip-hop mogul in February 2021.

At the time, it was said that the reality star’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, already put things into motion after filing the documents in Los Angeles. It was also said that the couple is “far along in reaching a settlement agreement” in their seemingly-imminent divorce, but Kanye apparently thinks it's all a bluff.

“Kanye hasn’t filed a response to Kim’s divorce filing because he still doesn’t accept that Kim will see the divorce through to completion,” an insider told HollywoodLife, exclusively. “He knows how Kim is and he knows that she does not want to do this.”

As for Kanye’s wellbeing since divorce reports made headlines, “He’s doing fine, though, despite everything,” the source added.

“He really doesn’t believe that Kim is actually going to end their marriage,” they continued. “Kanye sees this as a move in a chess game which is why he hasn’t reacted or done anything. He seems to have no plans of filing a response anytime soon, either. Her whole family is stunned.”

In addition to a reported settlement, Kim is also seeking joint legal and physical custody of the pair’s four children: North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and 1-year-old Psalm. (See what else the couple's divorce paperwork revealed here.)

This latest advancement seems to coincide with previous articles concerning Kanye’s feelings about his rocky marriage, as the entertainer is allegedly betting on the belief that Kim won’t divorce him because “she will realize what she is missing.”

Of course, only time will tell if that’s true.

Serena Williams Withdraws From The Miami Open To Recover From Oral Surgery!

Serena Williams has withdrawn from the Miami Open due to recent oral surgery.

The 39-year-old tennis star has decided to step down from this year’s Miami Open, which begins March 24 and ends April 4. According to People, Williams has already won the Miami Open eight times, most recently in 2015.

“I am disappointed to withdraw from the Miami Open because of recent oral surgery,” Williams said in a statement, according to the Miami Herald. “Miami is a special tournament for me because it’s my home and I am sad I won’t be able to see the incredible fans this year, but I look forward to coming back soon.”

The decision comes after the champion endured a number of dental procedures, which she’s highlighted on social media over the weekend.

In a statement, the Miami Open tournament director said they would miss Williams this year. “We will certainly miss having Serena at this year’s tournament and I know it was a very difficult decision for her. She has won the Miami Open more than any player in history, has a home here in South Florida, and is always a fan favorite.”

He added, “We hope she is back on the court soon and look forward to welcoming her back here next year.”

Japan Bans International Spectators From Attending Summer Olympics!

Japan will not allow international spectators into the country for this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games amid coronavirus concerns, organizers announced on Saturday.

Reuters reports that some 600,000 Olympic tickets will be refunded, along with another 300,000 Paralympic tickets. Costs associated with hotel cancellations will not be covered. Organizers of the games are also considering downsizing the number of staff involved in the event.

The decision not to allow international spectators followed a five-way talk between the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, the Toyo Metropolitan Government, The Organizing Committee Tokyo 2020, and the Japanese government.

“People who are involved in the Olympics in some way may be allowed to enter the country, whereas regular visitors will not be able to,” Toshiro Muto, the chief executive of Tokyo 2020, said.

Organizers say the decision will “further contribute to ensure safe and secure Games for all participants and the Japanese public.” The majority of the Japanese public is worried about international spectators coming into the country while dealing with a third wave of the virus.

The games were rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic last March and are set to take place this summer from July 23 to August 8. The Paralympics are scheduled for August 24 to September 5.
