Demi Lovato for Paper Magazine 2021!
Demi Lovato is on the cover of the new issue of Paper magazine. The young singer is on the cover to promote her new documentary series, Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil. Highlights from her interview are below.

On revisiting her past year: “Going back over the past year, I thought my life was going to turn out a lot differently than it has. At one point I was engaged to a man, and now I’m very much not. And so I just wanted to allow myself the freedom to match my outside to what I feel like on the inside, and that’s what I’ve done.”

On blocking out the media: “I think it was right after I got out of rehab in 2018. I saw an article somewhere that said I was morbidly obese,. And that is the most triggering thing that you could possibly write about somebody with an eating disorder. That sucked, and I wanted to quit, I wanted to use, wanted to give up. And then I just realized that if I don’t look at those things then they can’t affect me. So, I stopped looking and I just really try not to look at anything negative.”

On the here and now: “I think less about the future and music and more about living my truth. If every decision I made was based off of my future. I’d just be future tripping the entire time. I wouldn’t be living in the present moment at all.”

#RHOA: SERIOUSLY? Kenya Moore And Bravo apologizes for ‘RHOA’ star’s offensive costume!
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore apologized Tuesday for wearing a feathered headdress as a costume during Sunday’s episode, which Native American activists denounced as a “racist” example of “playing Indian.”

“I want to sincerely apologize for inappropriately wearing the Native American headdress as a costume,” she said in a statement to Page Six. “I now realize that this was both disrespectful and insensitive and would never have done it if I had that knowledge and understanding beforehand. I regret it.  When you know better, you do better. I am genuinely sorry.”

Bravo was also forced to issue a mea culpa in response to outrage over Moore’s antics on the last weekend’s Halloween-themed episode of the long-running reality show.

“We had hoped it would provide a teachable moment, however in retrospect it is clear that the network did not address this properly given the gravity of the situation,” the network added. “We apologize to both the Native American community and our audience as a whole.”
An activist group called IllumiNative led the charge against Moore and Bravo by writing a lengthy statement on Instagram Monday ripping “costumes that mock Native peoples.”

“We are deeply disturbed by last night’s episode of #RHOA in which @thekenyamoore wore a Native American ‘warrior princess’ costume,” the group said.
“Costumes that mock Native peoples, defame our traditions and cultures, and perpetuate negative stereotypes are racist. ‘Playing Indian’ is a form of mascotry that is not just offensive, it is part of a long history of how Native peoples have been dehumanized.”
The nonprofit initiative, created and led by Native Americans, added that they are “incredibly concerned” that none of the producers or executives at Bravo, Comcast or NBC Universal, Bravo’s parent company, intervened.

Bravo wrote in the post’s comments section that it “aims to have the highest standards of respect and inclusivity” and they “recognize” the recent “RHOA” episode does not “uphold those values.”
A critic of Moore, 50, pointed out that the “Housewife” said in a now-deleted tweet that Native Americans were “part of her heritage,” but added, “I guess she is uneducated in her own ethnicity, culture and stereotypes.”

Moore’s co-stars also called out her out on the show. Drew Sidora said in a confessional interview that the costume was “super problematic” and Porsha Williams added, “I thought we weren’t doing that no more.”
However, fans who came to the reality star’s defense pointed out that other “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast members — including Sidora, 35, and Williams’ sister Lauren Williams — and former “Real Housewives of Potomac” star Monique Samuels have also been guilty of cultural appropriation.

The user tweeted alongside photos of the women in insensitive costumes, “Check these out for @DREWSIDORA @iammrssamuels and @Porsha4real sister Lauren with their native American and Indian costumes. Drew and Porsha had all the time to come for you yet they forgot they had posted these! Team twirl will dig them out!

In April 2018, “Real Housewives of New York” star Luann de Lesseps was forced to issue her own apology after she wore dark makeup on her skin for a Diana Ross costume.

“I was being an impersonator for Halloween,” the Countess explained at the time. “I didn’t mean to offend anyone by being Diana Ross for Halloween, it just didn’t even kind of enter my mind … I wasn’t at all worried about that, and all of a sudden it became a thing. I’m so sorry. I don’t want it to be a thing, so I apologize if I have offended.”

#MusicNews: PJ Morton Compares Making Gospel Album Versus R&B Album!
When it comes to music, PJ Morton knows no limits. The renaissance man has proven that he is able to succeed in multiple musical spaces. The New Orleans native won Best Gospel Album (Gospel According to PJ) at the 63rd Grammy Awards. It was his third consecutive Grammy win in three years.
Last year, he won Best R&B Song (“Say So”) and the year before that, he won Best Traditional R&B Performance (“How Deep Is Your Love”). It also marked his first Grammy win in the gospel field.

Following his victory last Sunday, Morton opened up about his experience recording a gospel album as opposed to an R&B album.
“This kind of gave that validation the way I feel about that. I’ve said for years that I’m not Clark Kent when I write an R&B song and Superman when I write gospel songs,” he told Rated R&B during a virtual press conference at the Grammys. “It’s really heart at the root of it. I think that’s why a lot of our R&B stars came from church because the soul of it is there regardless.”

He continued, “The approach is not much different for me as far as what I’m doing musically or what I’m trying to get across. Of course, lyrically I have to approach that and think of what I want to say. It’s more messages of inspiration, hope and love. That was the only different approach but it was just different conversations.”

Gospel According to PJ is packed with features, including his father Bishop Paul S. Morton, Kirk Franklin, The Clark Sisters, Smokie Norful, Yolanda Adams, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Travis Greene, Mary Mary, J Moss and more.

#HipHopNews: Big Pun Honored With Bronx Street Corner!
Big Pun, the late rapper born Christopher Rios, now has a street corner named after him in New York City. A sign designating the corner of East Fordham Road and the Grand Concourse in the Bronx was unveiled today (March 22), with Big Pun’s wife and children in attendance. Big Pun died in 2000 of a heart attack in White Plains, New York.

The plaza dedication is the first official designation from the city, though not the first time a Bronx street corner has been dedicated to Big Pun. In 2014, a fan bought a sign from the New York City Department of Transportation’s website, posting it up on the corner of E 163 St and Rogers place on the anniversary of Big Pun’s death. It was quickly removed. A 2011 effort by his sister proposing a dedication in Bronx Community Board 2 was unsuccessful. After similarly unsuccessful attempts with a local Community Board, the family of slain rapper the Notorious B.I.G. was able to get a Brooklyn street corner re-named in his honor in 2019.

Big Pun’s solo debut Capital Punishment was the first album by a Latinx rapper to go platinum. It was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 1998 Grammys.

Claudia Jordan CLAPS BACK! denies role in Gary Owen divorce She’s my ‘That’s my buddy’!
The Fox Soul personality noted that she and Owen have been friends for two decades. ‘Sometimes,‘ said Jordan, ‘people just break up.’
Talk show host Claudia Jordan has denied any involvement in the divorce of Gary Owen and his wife of nearly two decades, Kenya Duke, with whom the comedian has three children.
Duke recently filed papers to end the 18-year marriage, and rumors of infidelity are starting to swirl in earnest.
“I have all your info. I am going to deal with you in a minute, I am a little busy now,” Duke wrote. “You can have him but you can’t disrespect me and my kids in the process.”

She added: “Tried to be quiet out of respect for my kids but @claudiajordan has me on one this morning. 23 years together Gary didn’t have s*** but a raggedy pickup and good credit, no place to live.”

In the post, which was captured by The Jasmine Brand, Duke indicated that she was not speaking to Jordan in several hashtags. “#whitewomenarenotinvolved #notclaudia #claudiasfriend #draggingmebackto98th/MacArthur street mindset,” she wrote.
In an Instagram Live video, Jordan denied her involvement in the couple’s split. “I have nothing to do with whatever is the reason for their divorce … Sometimes people just break up,” she said.

The Fox Soul personality noted that she and Owen have been friends for two decades, saying, “that’s my buddy,” and “the fact that I am being dragged into this is stupid and just not true.”
Jordan said she has reached out to Duke to try to talk to her directly, maintaining that she’s even “reached out to friends of Kenya so we can talk women-to-women and not play this out in front of everybody.”

“But,” she said, “I also feel like I want to keep it 100 with my peoples, and tell the facts.”

'Ellen DeGeneres Show' loses 1M viewers after Her workplace toxicity scandal!
Ellen DeGeneres's talk show is losing viewers and revenue after its workplace toxicity scandal.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show host, 63, used Tuesday's show to share a health update on her wife, Portia de Rossi, who's "feeling much better now" after an emergency appendectomy. However, behind-the-scenes, DeGeneres's show is struggling, having seen a large ratings decline — of more than one million viewers — in its 18th season.

The New York Times reports that since September — when DeGeneres returned to the air with an apology after the show's scandal led to an investigation and firings — the program has averaged 1.5 million viewers. That is down from 2.6 million during the same time last year, per research firm Nielsen.
A loss of ratings, of course, is a loss of revenue. From September to January of the 2019-20 season, Ellen brought in $131 million from advertisers, per the research firm Kantar. For the same time period of the 2020-21 season, it was $105 million — $26 million less.

There's been a lot of speculation over how things would play out for the talk show host — whose brand is to "Be Kind" — after her show employees claimed they experienced “racism, fear and intimidation” on the set.
Stephen Galloway, the dean of Chapman University’s Dodge College of film and media arts, told the NYT, “Her brand is not just being fairly nice — it is ‘Be Kind.' She’s chosen two words to stamp herself. You cannot have hypocrisy better defined than when you’ve chosen those two words to define yourself and everyone is seeing the opposite is true inside your show."

However, while there was talk in December that she was having trouble booking guests, it hasn't stopped many A-list — like Jennifer Garner, Michelle Obama, Justin Bieber, Kris Jenner and Demi Lovato — from appearances this season. Though DeGeneres uses guest hosts, like Stephen "tWitch" Boss and Tiffany Haddish, so her air time has decreased over the years.

DeGeneres — who is worth an estimated $370 million, according to Forbes —has long considered ending the show to pursue other projects, which de Rossi has urged her to do. If the 18th season of the show is its last, she'll have no shortage of other things lined up. She also hosts NBC's prime-time Ellen’s Game of Games, which has lost 32 percent of its viewers this season. In 2019, she made a deal to produce four shows for HBO Max streaming platform. She also has a multi-year deal with Discovery to produce natural history documentaries and series.

Amid the ratings decline, DeGeneres got personal on Tuesday's show discussing de Rossi's health emergency. She started her monologue asking the audience, watching remotely, if they had a good weekend. Then said, "Anybody else have to rush their wife to the emergency room for an appendectomy? Just me?"

DeGeneres explained she and her wife of 12 years were home Friday night watching TV and she was sipping a Cann drink, a product with CBD and THC, to relax. At 8 p.m., de Rossi said she wasn't feeling well and wanted to go to bed.
While it was early for them, DeGeneres joined her, but because she has trouble sleeping, she took two sleep vitamins to help her nod off quicker. Just as she was "konking out" 15 minutes later, "I hear something," which was de Rossi moaning. "I get out of bed and I find Portia on the floor on all fours."

She said de Rossi, 48, insisted she was OK, but she told her, "Well, you're OK if you're playing Twister by yourself, but you're not OK. You're on the floor." So they rushed to the ER "and she's in so much pain. And I'm worried about her. And I don't know what's wrong with her because, as you know, I grew up Christian Science, so my best guess was: a demon?"

Initial tests were unclear, so de Rossi was admitted — and DeGeneres couldn't stay because of COVID. "So that's upsetting to me," DeGeneres remembered. "They sent me home and I'm crying." The next morning she got the call that de Rossi needed to have her appendix out.

DeGeneres said later that day, post-surgery, they were texting and de Rossi was "in a lot of pain." The Arrested Development actress wasn't able to get more pain meds without doctor authorization, so she jokingly tried to bribe the nurse with tickets to DeGeneres's talk show. (It didn't work.)

However, "I am happy to report Portia is feeling much better now," DeGeneres said. "She's home. She came home late yesterday. Not all of her —she left her appendix a the hospital," which the comedian joked that she was going to auction off.

Nick Cannon’s ‘Wild N’ Out’ To Begin Airing Again With Juvenile, Rapsody, 24kGoldn & More Guests!
Last year, Wild ‘N Out was put on hiatus. That decision was the result of the show’s host/producer Nick Cannon dealing with significant backlash for making anti-Semitic comments on his Cannon’s Class podcast. He later publicly apologized.

Following Cannon’s mea culpa, ViacomCBS announced last month that the entertainment conglomerate is bringing Wild ‘N Out back to VH1. New episodes of the program will be made in the future, but the pre-recorded second half of season 15 will start airing on April 6 at 8 pm ET/PT.

'Masked Singer' Star Ken Jeong Donates $50,000 To Families Of Massage Parlor Shooting Victims!
Comedian Ken Jeong is supporting the families of victims of the brutal massage parlor killings in Atlanta shootings, including a recent donation of $50,000.
The 'Masked Singer' host spread the generous donation across the five GoFundMe pages for each of the victims. Five $10,000 donations were made by Kendrick Jeong to each campaign for the families of Soon Chung Park, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Xiaojie Tan, and Yong Yue.

On Tuesday, multiple reports confirmed the donations did in fact come from 'The Hangover' star to the families.
Ken Jeong, who migrated to the U.S. from South Korea, has been very vocal about stopping the 'Asian Hate' in the United States -- and shared other fundraising information via his Twitter account.
On social media, Ken shared a video calling for the end to anti-Asian racism in the wake of the mass shooting -- and the footage featured other Asian American actors including Keiko Agena and Lou Diamond Phillips.

"Stop the pandemic of hate," Ken said in the clip.
Following the attack, a 21-year-old man has been charged with eight counts of murder and aggravated assault.
In a recent interview, Ken Jeong revealed why he believes there has been a spike in anti-Asian crime.
“This is precisely due to weaponizing terms like China virus and kung flu. And also the fact that, in this particular crime, there’s debate whether this crime is racially motivated. Asian American women are two times as likely to be assaulted in America. This was clearly, clearly racially motivated. This was clearly a hate crime.” he said.

Adding, “As a guy who used to be a doctor and whose wife is still practicing medicine, I have an idea of how to solve COVID. It’s mask, vaccination, common sense, don’t be an a--hole. But as a human, I don’t know how to solve racism. It takes listening, learning, loving, being tolerant. But it really starts off, in our particular case as Asian Americans, this ‘kung flu’ s--t has to stop. And we really need to express that loudly. And we are.”

Spring Breakers Arrested for Allegedly Drugging and Raping a Woman Who Later Died!
Two North Carolina men arrested in Miami Beach are being accused of drugging and raping a 24-year-old woman who died in her hotel room.
via: New York Post: Two North Carolina men in Miami over spring break were arrested for allegedly drugging and raping a 24-year-old woman who was found dead in her hotel room, authorities said Monday.
Evoire Collier, 21, and Dorian Taylor, 24, are also accused of stealing the unconscious woman’s credit cards and using them during their South Beach vacation, the Miami Herald reported.

Both men were caught on surveillance footage entering the Albion Hotel with the impaired victim, a Pennsylvania resident, around 1 a.m. Thursday, police said.
“[Taylor] was holding her from behind, holding her by the neck so she could stand,” Miami Beach Detective Luis Alsina testified during a bond hearing Monday, according to the Herald.

Police said each of the men had sex with the victim at the hotel and, at one point, Taylor allegedly forced himself on her as she appeared to be unconscious.
“The fact that the victim was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, she could not have consented to sex with the defendants,” the police report states.
While their victim was passed out, the men snatched her credit cards, phone and cash and left her in the room “without any concern for her welfare or safety,” the report alleges.

First responders discovered the woman “semi nude” and dead in the room’s bed later Thursday.
Cops were able to track down Collier — who fit the description of one of the men in the surveillance footage — on Saturday in an area that’s recently been packed with partying spring breakers.
He allegedly confessed that he and his pal had met the woman at a local restaurant and that Taylor gave her a “green pill,” the police report said.

Collier told police he believed the drug was Percocet, a powerful pain reliever, Alsina testified in court.
He allegedly said “that he went along with [Taylor] as they planned to have sex with the victim,” the report said.
Both men, who are from Greensboro, were booked into a Miami-Dade jail on Sunday.
Charges against them include burglary with battery, sexual battery, petty theft and the fraudulent use of a credit card.

Their arrests come as local authorities grapple with crowds of unruly spring breakers who have flocked to the party city, recently even instituting an 8 p.m. curfew to crack down on the rowdy revelry.
In court Monday, prosecutor Ayana Harris argued Collier and Taylor should be held in jail pending trial, noting they could face more serious charges and are possible flight risks as “both are from out of state.”
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer agreed and expressed alarm about the allegations.

“He couldn’t even pick up the phone to call police or 911 after they did whatever it is they did to her,” Glazer said.
Both Collier and Taylor have been appointed public defenders and are set to be arraigned in about three weeks.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office said tests were still being conducted on Monday. A cause of death has not yet been determined. The arrests were two of over 1,000 in Miami Beach, including over 400 felony charges, during spring break gatherings over the last six weeks.

Cardi B Sends A Message To Her Haters After 'Up' Soars To No. 1!

Cardi B is getting the last laugh! One week after her controversial Grammys performance —and subsequent Twitter feud with Candace Owens — the "WAP" rapper has earned her fifth No.1 single with her latest track "Up."
On Monday (March 22), Cardi became the first female rapper to earn two No.1 solo singles — her first being "Bodak Yellow" — and extended her reign with the most No.1 tracks of any female rapper.

While Cardi was showered with praise from fans, she was also plagued with tons of hate from online trolls, who attempted to cast doubt on the legitimacy of how she earned another No.1 hit.
Cardi being Card took to Instagram to address the haters, saying that many people who claim to support female empowerment and female success actually "be hating."
"You know, when a b*tch is winning, people gotta find something," she said. "The more hate y'all think, the more harder I get. The more sh*t I have to talk about for my album. Stop hating."

She additionally read a tweet from @Talkofthecharts that shared the numbers to support "Up" going No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "With the live Grammys video included, "Up" by Cardi B earned 26.5 million on-demand streams in the US last week, the most-streamed song," Cardi read.

‘Sesame Street’ To Introduce Two New Black Muppets To Show; Characters Will Discuss Race-Related Issues!

“Sesame Street” has introduced two new Black puppets as a part of the show’s initiative to tackle race-related issues.
There are some new kids on the block: Elijah and his 5-year-old son, Wes. They are the latest characters to be added to the PBS series. They come following Sesame Workshop’s decision to combat racism and highlight race-related issues off-camera and on-camera. The puppets are expected to help address tough topics regarding race, according to The Hill.

“[Wes is] very imaginative, he’s very fun. He’s always trying to help his friends and make sure that they feel safe and that they feel loved, and that they can feel strong in their own skin. The more I perform him, the more I get to know him,” Bradley Freeman Jr., who is the puppeteer for Wesley Walker, told TIME magazine.

“Sometimes he gets a little lost in his own emotions because he comes from a family that’s very big on communicating how they feel—he’s able to communicate, but he’s also 5 years old. So sometimes things overwhelm him, and he can be angry or sad. So that’s where he really relies on his dad and his friends to make sure that he can come to the best solution possible.”
Senior Vice President at Sesame Street Workshop, Jeanette Betancourt, said these are issues that impact children every day. “Children are not colorblind—not only do they first notice differences in race in infancy, but they also start forming their own sense of identity at a very young age,” she said.

“‘The ABCs of Racial Literacy’ is designed to foster open, age-appropriate conversations among families and support them in building racial literacy. By encouraging these much-needed conversations through Coming Together, we can help children build a positive sense of identity and value the identities of others.”

Derrick Jaxn’s Wife Responds To Backlash She Received Following His Cheating Apology Video!
“WHY NOW…did he beat you?” she captioned the post. It’s also how she starts the video, saying, “Only Jesus Christ can save Derrick. Only Jesus can save him.”
“And now Derrick is laying in the bed that he made with the actions that he took, and the only person that saved him from that and can save him is Jesus Christ,” she continues. “I can’t do anything. Say anything to do that.”

“Why am I speaking now?” she asks. Jackson says she’s come to confront the issue that says you cannot be healed, that it takes a certain amount of time to heal, and that once a cheater, always a cheater. She asserts that instead, those are lies, and she is giving it to God.

Despite what the critics say, Jackson doubles down that she will not leave her husband, that she will heal, and she will move on from this situation.
“I will confront these issues head-on. For those who have shared that they are inspired, that they are finding strength in their own situations, I want to say be encouraged. It is a journey and process, and you have the lord as your shield,” she says.
The comments were brutal under the video, with most people urging Jackson to move on from her cheating husband or to at least seek therapy.
“Sweety move on !!! You’re actually very pretty you just need therapy and confidence,” one user wrote.

“I hope that you will consider, regardless if you stay with him or not, seeking individual professional therapy (not from a pastor),” another user commented. “It sounds like you’ve been through a lot and while prayer may be helpful, it might be worth it to do some other work. I’m concerned for you. Good luck.”

Jackson’s husband allegedly carried on an extramarital affair with a woman named Candie De Medeiros, who outed their relationship to a blogger earlier this month.
