The Daily Buzz For July 14

Ladies Idris Elba is in all his Shirtless Glory for Essence Magazine’s August 2017 Issue for YOU!
The 44-year old British actor who is the cover star for Esquire Magazine’s August 2017 issue, takes frontpage again for Essence Magazine. He talks to Essence about his upcoming films, tight schedule, and love life. He is set to star in six projects this year – including Thor: Ragnarok and the fifth season of Luther.
On his Directorial debut film Yardie: “Yardie is quite a semi-famous bit of English literature about a small-time pastor who comes from Jamaica and ends up embroiled in (avenging his brother’s death). It’s set in the late seventies, early eighties, a hotbed of Jamaican culture in London, but then crack cocaine arrives.”
On love and marriage: “Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so. Yeah, I don’t think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling.”

#RHoA: Lamarra George: I Am NOT Joining “Real Housewives of Atlanta”
Lamarra George wants you to know two things: one, she is NOT joining the cast of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and two, she was NOT a part of a recent alleged fight during filming for the show that involved tossed drinks and a bunch of drama.
Last week, we reported on an alleged fight that happened while cameras were rolling during a dinner scene for RHOA Season 10.

A relatively unknown blog called “Real Mr. Housewife” shared “exclusive details” regarding the alleged fight between two new castmembers: Lamarra George and Shamea Morton.
According to their report, Lamarra and Shamea got into a heated confrontation, which ended in George allegedly throwing a drink and Shamea being escorted out of the building “before any serious physical altercation could ensue.”

The report went on to say that NeNe Leakes, Cynthia Bailey and Sheree Whitfield took Lamarra’s side because they are all friends.
“NeNe even went as far to say that if they wanted her to stay on the show, they would have to get rid of Shamea,” a “source” supposedly revealed, adding that Kenya stayed out of it and Porsha didn’t even defend her friend Shamea.

“Kenya didn’t get involved in the drama at all and basically ran away to call her husband as soon as things got crazy. Porsha… walked away as well.”
Well the Tea is that she is not “apart of the cast FULL TIME,” which means that while she won’t be holding a peach, she will likely be making some appearances on the show throughout the season (like Marlo Hampton, for example).

Meanwhile, the “Real Mr. Housewife” blog has deleted their story, proving that their story was likely false.
Though official casting for RHOA Season 10 has yet to be revealed, it is believed that Eva Marcille will be joining the cast, but it hasn’t determined whether or not she will be holding a peach. And while Shamea was reportedly offered a peach, Straight From the A reported that she turned it down at the request of her husband (but she will remain a “friend” on the show with limited appearances).

Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 10 is set to premiere sometime in November.

#EMPIRE: Someone Tried To Body Shame Taraji P. Henson And Sis Wasn’t Here For It
Taraji P. Henson has always been a laid back, around-the-way type of girl, hence the name of her memoir. And while she can fit in with all sorts of A-list circles and stars these days, if you come for the Empire star and Golden Globe winner, she’s going D.C. on you. What I mean by that is, she’s going to come right back with a quick-witted response.

A young man learned that the hard way this week.
It all started when the 46-year-old star posted a picture of herself in full glam mode to tell her followers that she was back on set filming Season 4 of her hit Fox show:

As you can see in the image, Taraji looked and felt confident when sharing the image of herself in a gown with a plunging neckline. Nobody could tell her any different. Literally.

So when a guy said “saggy” in reference to the actress’ natural breasts, she had a clever clapback ready for him:
Henson has said in the past that everything you see on her body is hers, and despite what anyone may have to say, she’s not shy about showing off her body in low-cut gowns and in photo shoot spreads. Same goes for her backside. In fact, when rumors spread (with help from Wendy Williams) that the star had some work done on her behind, which she showed off in Season 1 of Empire in legendary fashion, Henson was quick to shut those stories down.

“HA! Thank you for the love @wendyshow! And tell your producer guy that those #CookieCakes are ALL ME baby!!!” she said. “EVERYBODY AIN’T GETTING A– SHOTS!!! I don’t need them! Also let him/her know TV adds a lil weight so RELAX!”

#NEWMUSIC from 112 Return With New Single “Strawberry”
Legendary r&b group 112 have just made their triumphant return with brand new single “Strawberry”. A comeback from the group had been highly anticipated for many years now since they hadn’t put out any new music in over a decade.
“Strawberry” is the first single from their upcoming album “Q Mike Slim Daron” which is set to release this Fall on eOne Entertainment. For the new song, the group stuck to their tried and true formula, and the harmonies are perfectly reminiscent of their earlier hits.

112 has not put out an album since “Pleasure & Pain” back in 2005. Since then, each of the members have released solo projects based on their individual styles. The group has also gotten back together to tour in recent years, including the Bad Boy Family Reunion shows. This only heightened the anticipation of a new project.

We currently don’t have any other information on the new album, but all four original members Slim, Q, Mike, and Daron, are included.

Blac Chyna’s Fling Ferrari True Is Unfazed by Her Legal Threats: ‘Chyna Doesn’t Even Matter At This Point’
#DontCare. Blac Chyna’s former fling Ferrari True is unfazed by her lawyer’s legal threat. The rapper, whose real name is Dejanel Carter a.k.a Rarri True, tells Us Weekly exclusively that he doesn’t plan on engaging further with Chyna — or the drama that comes with her ex-fiancΓ© Rob Kardashian.
As previously reported by Us, Chyna’s lawyer Lisa Bloom sent True a letter informing him of the consequences if he ever posts or sells naked photos of the 29-year-old Lashed Bar owner. The legal letter came after Chyna was granted a restraining order against Kardashian after he posted nude photos of her on social media, as well as a video of her naked in bed with True, last week.

“I was surprised,” True tells Us of receiving the letter. “I was like, ‘Wow, what's this really about?’”

In the letter, Bloom warns that “posting online or distributing photos of Ms. White’s intimate body parts is a crime punishable by fines and jail time” and that they will “not hesitate to seek all civil and criminal remedies against” him.
The rapper, who first started seeing Chyna two months ago, added that he doesn't have any plans to contribute further to the drama.
“I’m not trying to release nothing,” True said in regard to Bloom’s letter. “Chyna doesn't even matter at this point.”
During Kardashian's July 5 social media rant, he claimed that Chyna cheated on him with True. The rapper, however, tells Us that he had no reason to believe that Chyna was still in a relationship with Kardashian.
“I was just going with the flow,” True concluded of their short-lived romance, confirming that they're no longer seeing each other. “I'm not gonna be focused on her right now, I'm focused on me.”

JUST SAD! Quincy Jones Faces Off With Michael Jackson's Company in Jury Trial
The trial pits a dead music legend against a living one in what a potential juror described as "a tragedy."
"Both of these men are musical geniuses," said one potential juror of Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones. "I am so, so sorry this trial is going on. This is a tragedy."

The retired University of Pennsylvania professor was thanked for her time and excused from an L.A. courtroom Tuesday morning. Also excused was a young woman whose father was an editor on the "Thriller" music video. Ultimately two men and 10 women were chosen -- and they're tasked with evaluating how credit and money should be split for posthumous revenue as part of a royalty dispute between the legendary producer and the King of Pop's business.

By way of background, this fight began in 2013 when Jones sued Sony Entertainment and MJJ Productions, a song company controlled by the King of Pop's estate, claiming master recordings he produced were wrongfully edited and remixed to deprive him of backend profit participation. He also says a 2009 joint venture between MJJ and Sony should have increased his royalties share, but didn't. The works at issue include songs from Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad and the This Is It film and soundtrack album, among others.
L.A. Superior Court judge Michael A. Stern in January shut down MJJ's summary judgment motion, finding the complex issues in the case warranted more scrutiny. (Stern also denied a previous motion for summary judgment in February 2016.) The jury won't hear about Jones' elder abuse claims, which were barred following a pre-trial motion.

Jones' attorney Mike McKool led off opening statements Tuesday by painting a picture of the producer's illustrious career -- aided by actual photos projected onto a very large screen in the middle of the courtroom that largely blocked the view for attorneys and journalists in the audience. He noted Jones' EGOT status, coupled with 79 Grammy nominations, and walked through some of his work with A-List artists like Frank Sinatra, who gave Jones his nickname "Q."

Aside from personal history, McKool focused on two producer agreements between the pair, one from 1978 and the other from 1985. He says those agreements specified that Jones' royalty would come from Jackson's share of profits from their works — and that any changes to the rate the performer received would be reflected in the producer's pay too. McKool said the deals also ensured Jones would be given the first opportunity to remix any of the works he produced.

Everything was going smoothly, McKool said, until the star died unexpectedly in 2009. "The death of a superstar artist creates huge interest in his music," he said, adding that the boost in demand from fans allowed Jackson's estate to negotiate a bigger share of Sony's profits. Jones' royalties remained consistent, and McKool argued they should have increased proportionally. All said, Jones says he's owed at least $30 million.
MJJ attorney Zia Modabber took the podium shortly before the lunch recess, and acknowledged that an audit did reveal Jones was shorted -- but only a fraction of the amount he's asking for. He said Jones' contract doesn't entitle him to a share of the licensing fees, when his works are featured in movies, for example, but Jackson paid him one anyway and the estate continues that practice.

As to the claims about the 2009 Sony joint venture, Modabber said Jones' contract specifies that his royalty pay is "calcluated, prorated and reduced" in accordance with Jackson's -- but the artist wasn't obligated to even tell the producer about royalty increases, let alone pass them on to the producer. He also said Jones was only guaranteed the first opportunity to remix a work if that remix was required by the studio.

Sony has been administering the producer's pay from Jackson's works since the beginning and any money owed to Jones is due to run of the mill mistakes that happen while calculating complex royalties, Modabber said -- arguing the producer's claims rely on "distorted" readings of the contracts and conspiracy theories.
"Sadly, and unfortunately for us, you will only be getting Mr. Jones' version," said Modabber, playing on a sentiment mentioned by several axed jurors that Jackson's death makes the testimony one-sided. "Mr. Jones is asking for millions he didn't earn and isn't entitled to. He just wants it and hopes you'll give it to him."

The trial is expected to last approximately three weeks. MJJ is represented by Kinsella Weitzman and Katten Muchin Rosenman. Jones is represented by Gradstein Marzano and McKool Smith. Sony is represented by Covington & Burling.

CONGRATS! Tamron Hall Daytime Talk Show In The Works
She ready, ya’ll! Five months after Tamron Hall left NBC and MSNBC, she has partnered with Weinstein Television to develop a new talk show.
Not only will Tamron host the show, she will also serve as executive producer.

Via Variety:
The talk show is currently untitled, and is expected to focus on current events, human-interest stories and interviews with celebrities and newsmakers. The daily series is slated to be shot in front of a live studio audience. Weinstein said the program “will fill the current void in daytime for viewers looking for a blend of heart, humor and information.”

Hall left NBC News after the NBCUniversal unit unveiled plans to replace the 9 a.m. hour of “Today” with a new morning program led by Megyn Kelly. That show is slated to launch in late September. NBC News at the time said in a statement that it was “disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best.”

“I’ve been working towards developing a talk show for a long time, but needed to make sure I did it the right way and with the right person to take the lead,” said Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, in a prepared statement. “Tamron is far and away that person. She’s an exceptionally talented journalist whose interviews masterfully walk the line between entertainment and hard hitting. We couldn’t be more thrilled to begin this new venture with her.”

Congratulations to Tamron!

Madonna Opens a Pediatric Center In Malawi
Madonna is doing her part to make sure kids in Malawi grow up with proper health facilities. The opening ceremony for Mercy James Institute for Pediatric Surgery took place yesterday and was considered a family affair.

Madonna, who has always been very open about her adopted children, actually named the hospital after her daughter Mercy James. According to CNN, the institute is the first center of it’s kind in the African country and was funded by a charity she started back in 2006 called “Raising Malawi.” She started the foundation the same year she adopted her son David Banda, who is now 11 from the same country. Since adopting Mercy James and David Banda, she also added twins Esther and Stella to her growing family earlier this year.

During the ceremony, Madonna’s daughter Mercy gave a brief speech saying: “It’s a great honor to know this hospital is named after me. But what’s more important is that we may help many kids and save many lives.”
The state of the art facility is located in Blantyre, Malwai and also has a playroom, outdoor play structure and inspirational murals Madonna curated herself.

So Jesse Williams And Minka Kelly Are Actually Dating

Three months after Jesse Williams split from his wife, multiple outlets are reporting that the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor is dating actress Minka Kelly.
The duo stepped out together for a movie night in Los Angeles, fueling rumors that they were doing more than just teaming up on an upcoming video game project.

“They’re having a good time together,” a source told People about the budding romance.
“They really care about each other and are dating exclusively,” another source added to E! News. “Minka has been there for Jesse not only as a girlfriend, but also as a friend.”
Williams and Kelly first sparked speculation about the nature of their relationship during a Paris trip back in January. The “Friday Night Lights” actress shared a photo of Williams after a long work day with a wine glass emoji.

The actor and his estranged wife, Aryn Drake-Lee, split after five years of marriage in April amid rumors that Williams began an alleged affair with Kelly while they were still married.

The former couple have two young children together, Sadie, 3, and Maceo, who they welcomed in 2015.
In Jay-Z’s mini-documentary “Footnotes for 4:44” released Tuesday, Williams addressed the breakup and alluded to his rumored relationship with Kelly in a video appearance.
“I was in a relationship 13 years, 13 real years, not 5 years, not 7 years, 13 years and all of a sudden mother f**kers are writing think-pieces that I somehow threw a 13-year relationship,” he shared. “Like the most painful experience I’ve had in my life like with a person I’ve loved with all of my heart — that I threw a person and my family in the trash because a girl I work with is cute.”

Clear eyes, full hearts, date responsibly.

Peyton Manning makes Kevin Durant salty, Russell Westbrook reacts at ESPYs
The ESPYs have evolved into one of the best annual awards shows on television over the years. The event now includes an hour live red carpet special in addition to appearances from some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. On July 12, future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning hosted this year’s edition.
Manning’s almost as well-known for his personality off the field as his play on the field. He’s hosted “Saturday Night Live” and he’s won the battle between him and Brett Favre for having the most commercials as a retired football player under his belt. Manning has shown us many characters in the acting world over the years and he put all of that charisma into his opening monologue.

Manning set out a disclaimer that the network wanted him to tell a certain amount of jokes about fellow athletes. In a sarcastic tone, he said actually telling the jokes, while painful, were the only orders he was given.

A few minutes into the rapid fire of roasts, including the hometown L.A. Rams, Manning mentioned the U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastics squad. The “Final Five,” composed of Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian, won the most Olympic medals of any U.S. women’s gymnastics team ever in 2016.

Then came the dagger.
“Our gymnastics team is so dominant, Kevin Durant told me he wants to play for them next year,” Manning said while pointing at Durant in the front row.

The Golden State Warriors star appeared unphased by the joke while the rest of the venue, including Durant’s mom, laughed at Manning. After staring down Durant’s mug, Manning continued the joke.
“And I gotta tell ya, Kevin. I don’t think you’ll start for that team,” Manning said before quickly turning his attention to another NBA star on the other side of the venue. “Russell Westbrook, what do you think?”
Westbrook appeared to be trying his hardest not to show any reaction while the camera focused on him for six seconds that felt like an eternity. Westbrook’s wife didn’t hide her laughter sitting next to him.
As the internet exploded on the joke of the night, Durant tweeted his reaction in one simple emoji.
