Idris Elba Covers Esquire Magazine! Talk About Coping With His Father’s Death!
Idris Elba is serving up twice the sexy for ESQUIRE magazine’s August 2017 issue (one is the exclusive subscriber cover).
For the cover story, Idris shares a time in his life where he almost gave up. It was right after he starred in 2013’s Mandela: Long Road to Freedom. When the British actor told his father, Winston, he was playing the iconic Nelson Mandela, his father wept with tears of joy.

"I cannot believe my son has been asked to play that great man," Elba recalled his father saying.
Winston was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013 and seven days before his death (on Idris’ birthday), the Dark Tower actor revealed he and his girlfriend (at the time) Naiyana Garth were expecting.

"If it's a boy, you must call him Winston," his father said. Seven months after his father’s death, Idris and Naiyana welcomed a baby boy and they named him Winston.

The death of his father triggered a midlife crisis for the actor. He shared:
"I got to a place where I wasn't even living anymore. I was becoming a robot with my work. I have no fear of jumping out of burning cars or out of buildings on set, but in reality, I couldn't run one hundred meters. I just felt out of touch with reality.”

To heal, he thought about another piece of advice his father gave him: "Fear nothing. Do what you want to do, but be educated and intelligent and confident about it."

Elba decided he wasn't going to miss the chances life presented. "I had forgotten what it is to feel that burn on your tongue, when your adrenaline is going so much and you're in fight or flight. I was like, I'll be tired when I'm dead. . . . I just thought, Yo, Dris, do you want to do something crazy? Should we just try to make a documentary?"

#RHoA: Kenya Moore & Hubby Marc Daly Enjoy The Big Apple
While rumors of an ultimatum swirl around Kenya Moore‘s future on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” the gone with the wind fabulous newlywed ain’t got no worries.
Kenya shared a photo of herself and her hubby, Marc Daly, in the New York City on Sunday with the caption, “BaeDay.”
They make a good-looking couple…I mean, from what you can see from the shadowing.

She’s happy and that’s what matters most……I GUESS!

#EMPIRE: Proud Mary First Look: Check Out Taraji P. Henson Posed Like A Total Badass
It's hard to believe that it was just a few years ago that Taraji P. Henson was still a lead on the CBS starrer Person of Interest. In the time since she left that show, she's had a mad hit with Fox's Empire, won some awards for Hidden Figures, and signed up for a movie where she's set to play an assassin. It's that movie that has sparked our interest lately, as Taraji P. Henson has shared a badass first look at Proud Mary. Check it out.
Proud Mary isn't hitting theaters until 2018, but the movie has already moved into post-production, and Taraji P. Henson was more than happy to give us this glimpse of her on the set, where she performed a lot of her own stunts and generally looked like a badass. We've seen the actress handle a gun--and do it well--on the aforementioned Person of Interest, but starring in a movie where she'll play an assassin should feature a whole different level of stunt work than a network TV show.

Proud Mary won't just be just any assassin film, either. While we'll get a ton of hard hitting kills from Charlize Theron when the assassin flick Atomic Blonde hits theaters later this summer (and if you haven't checked out that movie yet, head here), Proud Mary's plot will shift away from the assassin stuff a bit, as Taraji P. Henson's character Mary will meet a young boy who "awakens her maternal instinct." Since she works for a prominent Boston crime family, we'll have to wait and see how those maternal instincts pan out. The movie has been described as a thriller, so things should get interesting.

#HIPHOPNEWS: Is Dr. Dre Is Working on Eminem’s New Album?
Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are the subjects of the upcoming four-part HBO documentary The Defiant Ones, directed by Menace II Society's Allen Hughes. In a recent interview with Uproxx, Hughes spoke of the relationship between Dre's business focus and his musical endeavors. According to the filmmaker, the billion-dollar headphone industry has not stopped the superproducer from getting in the studio.

"Dre still records. People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting," he said.
Most notably, Dre has been working with Eminem on his upcoming project, which sounds like it might be well on its way to completion. "Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album," revealed Hughes.

Eminem has not shared a title or release date for what would be his ninth studio album. In fact, this quote is pretty much the only clue we have to its existence. Last October, the Detroit rapper released a hookless, almost entirely drumless 8-minute track called "Campaign Speech." His last studio album was The Marshall Mathers LP II in 2013.

Em recently debuted a new beard to the shock of the internet; could it be a sign that he's been spending some late nights in the studio?

#FASHIONNEWS: Rihanna Brings Fenty Puma Back to New York Fashion Week!
Au revoir, Proenza. Adieu, Rodarte. Ta-ta, Thom Browne. While several high-profile American brands have decided to abandon New York Fashion Week for Paris, at least one major international name is doing the opposite and bringing her show back to town: Rihanna.

After two seasons showing her Fenty Puma by Rihanna collection in Paris, WWD has learned that Rihanna is heading back to New York Fashion Week, where she launched the line with her first show for fall 2016.

Rihanna was unavailable for comment but Puma issued this statement: “After two successful seasons showing during Paris Fashion Week, Rihanna has decided to return to New York and show her Fenty Puma by Rihanna spring 2018 collection during NYFW, making this the first time she will present during September NYFW.”
Details of the date and location of the show have yet to be confirmed, but if the past is any indication, it will be one of the late shows with an elaborate set. Rihanna presented her first Fenty Puma collection at 23 Wall Street, followed by spring 2017 at Paris’ HΓ΄tel Salomon de Rothschild, and most recently at BibliothΓ¨que Nationale de France for fall. Reportedly working with a different designer every season, including Adam Selman for spring, she’s veered in aesthetic from show to show — going from Japanese Goth to frilly 18th-century-inspired sport to stereotypical wayward schoolyard cliques — but always maintaining a sporty, gender-fluid baseline.
Puma, which is controlled by Kering, signed Rihanna to a three-year contract as creative director in December 2014. “Puma trusted me in a major way that a lot of companies wouldn’t,” she said after her first show.

The singer has myriad other fashion projects, including a Dior ambassadorship which included a sunglass range, as well as collaborations with Manolo Blahnik, Chopard and Stance socks, with which she signed a three-year deal in 2015.

Nelsan Ellis’ Family Reveals His Struggle With Drugs & Alcohol
Nelsan Ellis‘ family has opened up about the circumstances surrounding his death on Saturday (July 8).
The “True Blood” star died from complications related to heart failure his family says was related to alcohol withdrawal. He was 39.
In a statement through Nelsan’s manager, Emily Gerson Saines, the family opened up about his struggles with alcohol and drug abuse for years.
After many stints in rehab, Nelsan Ellis tried to withdraw from alcohol on his own triggering complications that led to heart failure.

Read the full statement below via The Hollywood Reporter:
In an effort to help others who may be struggling with the same addictions that afflicted Ellis, his family released the following via Saines to THR:
Nelsan’s father has bravely agreed for me to share the circumstances of Nelsan’s heart failure. Nelsan has suffered with drug and alcohol abuse for years. After many stints in rehab, Nelsan attempted to withdraw from alcohol on his own. According to his father, during his withdrawal from alcohol he had a blood infection, his kidneys shut down, his liver was swollen, his blood pressure plummeted, and his dear sweet heart raced out of control.
On the morning of Saturday July 8th, after four days in Woodhull Hospital, Nelsan was pronounced dead. Nelsan was a gentle, generous and kind soul. He was a father, a son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, and a great friend to those that were lucky enough to know him. Nelsan was ashamed of his addiction and thus was reluctant to talk about it during his life. His family, however, believes that in death he would want his life to serve as a cautionary tale in an attempt to help others.
Nelsan’s passing is especially devastating knowing he was trying to better himself and overcome an addiction.

Rest well, King.

Look at Liam Hemsworth in his 'Tiny Shorts'!
It's getting hot in here! Liam Hemsworth left little to the imagination when he shared three sexy photos of himself on Instagram on Monday, July 10.
The Australian hunk, 27, took full advantage of Instagram's slideshow feature to show off his shirtless body. Wearing just a baseball cap and a pair of colorful, barely there swim trunks, he flexed his bulging biceps, chiseled chest, rock-hard abs and muscular quads for the camera.

"Here's to ice baths and flexing in tiny shorts," he captioned the post, which quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of "likes" on the photo-sharing app.
Earlier in the day, Hemsworth posted a sweet black-and-white selfie with his smiling fiancΓ©e, Miley Cyrus. "My little angel and I," he gushed in the caption.

The couple first met while costarring in the 2010 film The Last Song and got engaged in June 2012. They called off the engagement the following September before quietly rekindling their romance in December 2015.

"People that break up and get back together — I think that's awesome because you know it's true, but also you get time to be yourself, you get time to grow up," the "Malibu" singer, 24, said in a May 12 interview with SiriusXM's Hits 1 radio show. "If you're growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being. So, I'm really solid and he gets to be really solid and together, we get to be two really grounded people. It's not a half and a half making a whole."
Still, Cyrus and Hemsworth aren't in a rush to walk down the aisle. In June, the Hannah Montana alum's mother, Tish Cyrus, told Mario Lopez, "She's so happy, and she's always like, 'I don't know why everybody wants us to get married. It's so perfect.'"

Is Floyd Mayweather Fighting McGregor To Pay The IRS a Tax Bill?
Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. having money problems? Reportedly, the 40-year-old boxing champ is fighting Conor McGregor in their upcoming match because he cannot afford his tax bill.
A US Tax Court petition reveals that he’s filed for an extension because he does not have enough money to pay his bill from 2015. Mayweather has reportedly asked for a reprieve until after the McGregor fight – on August 26 – so he can collect his payday from the bout to pay off the authorities.

According to a report, the petition was filed on July 5. It states that while The Money Team founder has ‘substantial’ assets, he cannot use them to pay the IRS because they are ‘restricted and illiquid’. Mayweather has requested a three-month grace period, which would take him to after the McGregor fight date. No word on how much he owes the IRS.

#YANKEESNATION! Aaron Judge wins the Home Run Derby!
Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees has won the Home Run Derby, adding that title to his burgeoning list of rookie accomplishments.
Judge beat Miguel Sano of the Minnesota Twins 11-10 in the final at Marlins Park on Monday night. He becomes the fourth Yankees player to win the Derby after Tino Martinez in 1997, Jason Giambi in 2002 and Robinson Cano in 2011.

Judge will bat third for the AL in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. The rookie leads the majors with 30 home runs this season, and is a Triple Crown contender with his .329 average and 66 RBIs so far. No one in Yankees history has ever hit more homers in a rookie season.

Judge’s display of power Monday started in batting practice, when he hit a ball off the retractable roof at the ballpark. He needed to rally to beat the Marlins’ Justin Bour in the first round 24-22, then topped the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger to reach the final.

Congrats Aaron! WE ARE YANKEES!
