SNOWFALLS ON THE SAHARA! R.I.P SAHARA DAVENPORT OF Drag Race!
Several news sources are confirming that Sahara Davenport, who competed on the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” has died. Various sources listed her current age as 27, but a New York Times profile had her at 29 in 2009.
The performer whose real name was Antoine Ashley, finished seventh on the series, behind eventual winner Tyra Sanchez and favorites Raven, Jujubee and Pandora Boxx.
Ashley began a drag career in Dallas while attending Southern Methodist University, where he earned a bachelor of arts in dance. He released several dance singles as Davenport, including “Pump With Me” and “Go Off.” He was in a long-term relationship with fellow drag performer Manila Luzon, another “Drag Race” diva.

“Sahara Davenport” has also been trending on Twitter. Fellow “Drag Race” contestants have posted condolences on their Facebook pages:

Luzon posted a single, simple status Sunday night. “I love him so much.”
Davenport and Luzon appeared at F Bar in Houston earlier this year.
