New Indy Artist on the Come Up…Do You Know Mr Keem?

Lately in the industry more than ever there has been a breath of fresh air of independency happening in the biz. Mainly Frank Ocean, Azealia Banks, Elle Varner. These people have brought their signature stamp to their repertoire of music. So every now and then especially in the world of R&B and Rap we have such a broad variety of independent artist whom put their hard work and dedication into putting out their music. So as bloggers that come across these people we should help get the word out on them as much as we can.

Allow me to introduce to you Akeem Jones aka Mista Keem!

As his Bio states: “MISTA” is simply a man, nothing more nothing less, but not just any man. A MISTA is classy, a MISTA likes to have fun, but ever so often a MISTA is bound to run into a few haters along the way. He addresses them accordingly, keeps it moving and continues to do MISTA things. Sometimes when all odds are against him, a MISTA has to walk a long road alone in order to fulfill his destiny. A MISTA is also unapologetic. A MISTA goes after whatever he wants, whatever he needs, but most importantly, a MISTA succeeds. Welcome to the artistry of Mista Keem.

Mista Keem (born as Akeem Jones), is a songwriter, producer and hip hop recording artist from Queens, NY. He started out writing his first song “Get Close 2 U” at the age of 14 about his first crush and never stopped writing since. By the time he was 19, he became a radio personality, which inspired him to go from writing to carefully molding his own lane in music. Mista Keem doesn’t believe in making music about a life he doesn’t live and things he doesn’t do. Mista Keem has a smooth delivery and tells his story through his music. He makes music for himself first as well as for others to enjoy.

Mista Keem describes his music as a “rebirthed 90s honesty”. His inspirations for his music stems from the artistry of Brandy, LL Cool J, Heavy D and dynamic songwriting of Mariah Carey, Bryan Michael Cox, Sean Garrett, Babyface and The-Dream.

Mista Keem is set to release his first solo album “Life of a Mista” this fall, in which he wrote and produced himself. On September 11th, we will see the simultaneous release of the smash club anthem single “Get Yo Life (I’m Livin’) as well as "We Love" & "What I Want" on iTunes & Amazon. Mista Keem plans to hit as many stages as possible in effort to promote the single’s release. Mista Keem's debut EP "Life of a Mista" is set for release November 20 on all digital outlets.
