In doing so, they respectfully pay homage to Sardinian tradition, grounding the collection’s position at the intersection of heritage and contemporary design.

#HipHopNews: Nicki Minaj Pens Heartfelt Tribute To Eve After 'groundbreaking' Confession
Nicki Minaj has paid tribute to Eve after the female rap pioneer admitted to feeling insecure about them starring in Barbershop: The Next Cut together.
Writing about their time on set together in her upcoming memoir Who’s That Girl? (out September 26), Eve revealed that she began therapy to combat her insecurities after learning that Nicki would be appearing in the film, but any negative emotions soon evaporated after spending time with the Young Money star.
“I’ve lived through what happens when women project their own insecurities onto other women,” Eve says in the book. “It happened at the start of my career and continued in waves as my fame grew. I wasn’t going to be that woman to someone else, but in order to do that, I had to physically and mentally prepare myself.
“Nicki and I were actually fine on set. We got along well and shot our scenes together with no problems. It was nothing like what I had expected, but again, I am thankful that I prepared myself for it.”
She adds: “I’d see her writing songs on her bus in between takes, hurrying off set to go hit some show dates over the weekend and then come right back on set for these 12-to-16-hour shoots, all while trying to hold together her personal life and her relationship. It was at that moment that I didn’t envy her, and I kind of wanted to give her a hug.
“I thought I was going to resent her, and really all I felt was compassion. I remembered being that person, the girl who felt like she had to do it all. The girl who was pressured to do it all, because it was all eyes on her. Instead of feeling insecure around Nicki, I started to sympathize with her.”
“Dear Eve, the various things you’ve shared recently, are groundbreaking (in my opinion) for so many reasons,” she began. “First, thank you. The level of grace; the level of emotional & spiritual maturity it takes to be this vulnerable & transparent is a sign of TRUE peace, happiness, fulfillment, & mastery of self. Self reflection @ its height. I always say that I think accountability is the sexiest trait a person can have.”
She continued: “I was one of the kids in NY watching Ruff Ryderz on TV. I DEFINITELY remember how when you took the game by storm, that there were some ppl who couldn’t hide their insecurities. Even tho it’s swept under the rug now, I remember that you handled it with grace but ALSO a big sprinkle of unapologetic TALENT & charisma. You soared & soared. Classic music w/the illest team, to the BIG SCREEN. And made it look easy, too. Trendsetter. The Eve blonde short cut, the Eve paw print tats on the chest…
“I was so nervous coming onto that movie set every day. You looked like a pro & I admired that so much. Thank you for trying to not do to me what was done to you. Women feel so much pressure to compete & it’s a shame b/c we usually have so much in common & could rlly benefit from one another just as human beings. We all share so many of the same experiences as artists, wives, moms, ups & downs, anxiety, etc.”
Nicki signed off her message by saying: “Congratulations on your new book as well as all your many accomplishments in
Hip Hop & Film & TV. P.S. you STILL looK sooooo pretty.”
Victoria Monét And John Gaines Reveal They Broke Up 10 Months Ago, Address Rumors Of Infidelity
After some speculation, Victoria Monét and John Gaines have confirmed their breakup in a formal, joint statement—something they were admittedly trying to avoid.
Shared on social media on Monday (Sept. 23), the Grammy winner and her former fitness trainer beau revealed that they split 10 months ago.
“With good intentions, we honestly have been avoiding a formal statement about something as natural and as personal as love. We originally preferred to keep this out of the public (as announcing this publicly is sure to make pain resurface) but it is becoming more and more difficult to suppress,” it read.
The couple also addressed rumors of infidelity and “false accusations of [their] origin story.” They explained that before they decided to make this statement, they “thought long and hard about whether we owed it to anyone to explain where we are as we heal, since we understand how social media can magnify the truth or run far with untruths.”
Yet, they collectively decided “to be open and address it in hopes to put a period on the question marks for the sake of our healing process.”
Monét and Gaines affirmed their mutual adoration and respect for one another, especially as they navigate their new relationship as co-parents to their three-year-old daughter Hazel.
The pair confirmed that their split didn’t stem from drama or a scandal. “We both just have some fundamental growing to do that would be best done apart so we can remain the best versions of ourselves for our daughter […] We are committed to doing the inner work and trust that God will place us both where we belong in due time,” the statement continued.
Overall, they both intend to “remain a family” and hope that the public respects their privacy moving forward.
August Alsina Offers Insight Into His Departure From Music

The 32-year-old R&B singer, now focused on his skincare line, alluded to fighting “an invisible boogeyman” behind the scenes in the industry.
One day it’ll be revealed—the diabolical level of doxxing, railroading, stonewalling, road blocking, gaslighting, and betrayal that goes on behind the scenes within this industry.
Abuse of power, all in the name of upholding facades, promoting lies and illusions, while simultaneously hiding hands to make it look as though you’re fighting an invisible boogeyman.

Michael Strahan becomes a grandfather
The “Good Morning America” presenter couldn’t hide his delight as he beamed broadly throughout “Fox NFL Sunday.” He explained his daughter Tanita had given birth to a baby boy.
“Yes, I am a grandfather. everybody. My daughter Tanita had my grandson; Onyx is his name. That means black, in case you were wondering. It’s really special because I know you guys have gone through this. I’m just happy to be able to join you in that club,” the former New York Giants player said.
“Grandkids are great,” fellow panelist Howie Long said after telling him, “Congrats, grandpa.”
“Daughter is fantastic,” Michael replied after Terry Bradshaw then asked how Tanita was doing after giving birth.
Tanita — who is the father-of-four’s eldest child from his first marriage to Wanda Hutchin — hadn’t publicly mentioned her pregnancy. The daughter, who is an illustrator, has not posted on Instagram since last October.
Michael — who also has Michael Jr. with Wanda, and twins Isabella and Sophia with second wife Jean Muggli — previously admitted Tanita is very much like him.
“[Tanita is] kind of like me in the sense that she has a very strong personality, but a silent strong personality. She’s not going to be one to walk into a room and make it all about her. She definitely has an opinion and she’s very smart and she knows what she wants, which I love about her,” he previously told New York Family.
The baby is further good news for the family as Isabella was declared cancer-free in July after being diagnosed with brain cancer last October.
The teenager revealed the news in a YouTube video titled “Goodbye Hospital,” grinning as she told her followers she had received a “great, great scan” from medics following her final chemotherapy treatment.
“Everything was clear,” Isabella added. “Cancer-free and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October. I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice. I feel like I’m just saddened today knowing that I wasn’t gonna be going back for a while because I love them so much. So, that was my last hospital vlog until October!”
Diddy’s music streams jump after arrest and indictment
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ vast music catalog has seen a jump in streams since his arrest last week and the unsealing of an indictment against him.
Under his many musical monikers — including Diddy, Puff Daddy and P. Diddy — the industry data and analytics company Luminate said the mogul’s music saw an average 18.3% increase in on-demand streams during the week of his arrest compared to the prior week.
George Howard, a distinguished professor of music business management at Berklee College of Music, said he's not surprised by the increase. To him, streaming is akin to a Google search of the artist as a means of satisfying curiosity.
“Music just becomes another piece of information as people try to comprehend the atrocities,” Howard told The Associated Press. “It’s like, ‘What would someone whose brain works like that, allegedly, what would their music sound like?’”
With Combs' several business ventures — from Revolt TV to Ciroc vodka, both of which he's no longer affiliated with — Howard said many people likely think of Combs as a businessman before they think of him as a musician.
“The natural curiosity that these types of charges evoke makes sense,” Howard said. “It’s like driving by a car crash. People want to look.”
An increase in streaming numbers following controversy is not uncommon. After a documentary about R. Kelly accused the R&B singer of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls, his numbers nearly doubled.
Howard said the “anonymization” of streaming is also a factor that could have led to the increases for Combs and Kelly alike. “Imagine walking into a record store now like, ‘Yeah, I want to buy this Diddy CD,’” he said.
Combs is charged with federal sex trafficking and racketeering and the indictment, which details allegations dating back to 2008, accuses him of abusing, threatening and coercing women for years “to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.” He's pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Two Men Convicted Of PnB Rock’s Murder Have Been Sentenced By A Los Angeles Judge
September 12, 2024, marked the second death anniversary of the late rapper PnB Rock. Back in August, two men alleged to have been involved with the “Zaza” rapper’s tragic death were found guilty of murder, robbery, and conspiracy. Now, according to TMZ, each have formally been sentenced.
The outlet reports that Freddie Trone was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison. Trone’s sentencing factors in his one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and one of conspiracy conviction. Trone allegedly spearheaded the fatal shooting, provided his then armed his 17-year-old son with a gun, and sent him into the restaurant where PnB Rock was to rob him. While Tremont Jones received a sentence of 12 years after being found guilty of two counts of robbery and one of conspiracy for altering Trone to PnB Rock’s location.
Sadly, this devastating fight for justice isn’t quite over yet for PnB Rock’s family. In July, Trone’s son, the last suspect allegedly involved in the shooting reportedly lacked competency to stand trial.
Stephanie Sibounheuang, PnB Rock’s girlfriend, witnessed the heartbreaking incident. Weeks after his death, penned a note on Instagram about the ordeal, writing: “I am 100% not ok… It takes so much prayer and spiritual therapy to gain the strength to do the simple things in life now… I will never understand a loss so close. I feel so empty. My world is dark now. My heart is broken for the kids.”

“#JanetJacksons interview sounded like a #Trump rally!” Hughley bared on X on Sunday, Sept. 22. “FYI!! It’s a little ironic to question whether someone is black while you’re breathing through the nose of a white woman!”
Social media clapped back at D.L. Hughley in defense of Janet Jackson
Many on Twitter took umbrage at Hughley’s scorching chastisement of Jackson, with some saying that the Kings of Comedy star possesses the propensity to attack Black women.D.L. Hughley Trends After Roasting Janet Jackson Over Her Kamala Harris Remarks

During an interview with The Guardian, the pop icon said she “heard” Kamala was not Black and that the presidential hopeful’s father was White.
D.L. Hughley took to Twitter and unleashed on Janet Jackson.
The comedian and actor wrote:#JanetJacksons interview sounded like a #Trump rally! FYI!! It’s a little ironic to question whether someone is black while you’re breathing through the nose of a white woman! #TeamDL
#KamalaHarris looks the way she does cuz she has mom from India and a dad from Jamaica! #JanetJackson looks the way she does cuz she has a plastic surgeon! #TeamDL

Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson have been married for 44 years and have overcome marital challenges, including "crazy things" he has done. The couple has learned to tolerate each other's flaws and has emphasized the importance of staying together as a Black family in the face of societal stereotypes.
Samuel L. Jackson, 75, and LaTanya Richardson Jackson, 74, met while studying at Morehouse and Spelman colleges. They have been married since 1980 and share a daughter, Zoe Jackson, 42. In an interview, Samuel revealed that their marriage has involved "a lot of tolerance."
"Everybody's got flaws, and not giving up when it would be easy to give up," he said. "I've done s**t in my marriage that's crazy, you know? She has, too, in her head, or whatever in reality, but you got to go, 'Is that a breakup offense?' Or is it just that we need to spend a little time together and get some understanding about it?"
LaTanya has learned to ignore certain aspects of Samuel's personality and accept that he is dedicated to his acting career. "One of the things she had to accept is that I'm going to go to work," he said. "I'm going to go to work all the time until, you know, it's time."
The couple has faced challenges, including Samuel's past drug addiction. He recalled being found by his wife and daughter in a precarious state and going to rehab the following day. LaTanya emphasized their commitment to staying together despite difficulties.

Eboni K. Williams is officially a mom. The former alumna of "Real Housewives of New York City", welcomed her first child, a daughter named Liberty Alexandria Williams, in August.
The 41-year-old announced Liberty's arrival via Instagram on September 23, sharing adorable photos of her newborn. "Liberty Alexandria Williams. My daughter was born in New York City in August 2024," she wrote in the caption.
The reality star explained the heartfelt meaning behind Liberty's name, which she drew inspiration from the history of the Statue of Liberty. Williams revealed that the famous monument was originally created in 1886 as a tribute to newly freed Black Americans.
Williams emphasized the significant responsibility that Liberty holds as a child born into privilege. She quoted Toni Morrison's words, stating that Liberty is tasked with freeing someone else since she was born free.
Williams' journey to motherhood was not without its challenges. In June, she had revealed to PEOPLE that she pursued single motherhood by choice after freezing her eggs at 34. She used in vitro fertilization (IVF) and a sperm donation to conceive Liberty.
Williams acknowledged the stigma associated with single motherhood, especially for black women. However, she refused to let societal expectations hold her back. "I'm not waiting to build assets, build my career, or start a family," she said at the time.
The arrival of Liberty has brought immense joy to Williams. She expressed her gratitude for the divine timing of her daughter's birth. "Should she choose to accept it, Liberty's work will far exceed my own," Williams wrote. "Welcome to the world, my beautiful baby girl."
Fans and fellow celebrities alike extended their congratulations to Williams. The heartfelt announcement sparked an outpouring of well wishes and support for the new mom.

Levi’s hints at upcoming Beyoncé collaboration with ‘COWBOY CARTER’-esque drawing
Levi’s and Beyoncé are cooking up something special. On Monday (Sept. 23), the denim label shared a drawing on Instagram that looked a lot like the pop icon’s COWBOY CARTER album cover.
Though only red and white, the image featured a cowgirl on a horse alongside the caption, “Introducing: A New Chapter.” Though that's generally all Bey fans need to start getting their wallets ready, details about the upcoming collaboration or its release date haven’t been shared at the time of reporting.
“This Levi’s collab [is] gon’ come out of the tour fund. I’m just letting you know, but we will be purchasing,” a BeyHive member wrote in the comments section. Another person speculated, "[A] COWBOY CARTER world tour sponsored by Levi's?”
“Getting my squats in!” read another hilarious reply. Check out more reactions to the post below.
It’s worth mentioning that Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER housed the hit “LEVII’S JEANS.” The record, which arrived in collaboration with Post Malone and The-Dream, contained the following lyrics: “You call me pretty little thing/ And I love to turn him on/ Boy, I'll let you be my Levi's jeans/ So you can hug that a** all day long.”
Between the chart-topping LP and her ventures outside of music, Queen B has been collecting coins all year long. In August, she officially debuted SirDavis, named after her moonshine-making great-grandfather, Davis Hogue. Created in collaboration with Moët Hennessy and Bill Lumsden, the whisky combines rye with the smoothness of malted barley, aged to perfection in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Meanwhile, in February, fans got introduced to Beyoncé’s hair care line CÉCRED. It launched with an eight-piece lineup that included a clarifying shampoo, scalp scrub, sealing lotion, treatment mask, and other hair care essentials. Every formula was notably created using bioactive keratin ferment technology.

Lenny Kravitz and His Gigantic Scarf Ring in the First Day of Fall
The musician's gigantic brown scarf was memefied in the last decade. In time for autumn, Lenny Kravitz brought back his gigantic brown scarf.
To ring in the new season on Monday (Sept. 23), the 60-year-old musician got cold-weather ready in his signature brown scarf while going on a sidewalk stroll in a TikTok clip. The video was first filmed in 2023, but for the sake of the season–and representing big scarves everywhere–Kravitz gladly revisited it.
Completing his fit were oversized shades, denim jeans and tan boots, similar to his famous 2012 scarf meme, albeit without wearing a purple beanie.
"Grab your big scarf, it's the first day of fall," he says in the video below.
Kravitz's huge brown scarf has become something of legend since he first wore it in a 2012 picture. He reacted to the meme in a 2018 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the "Fly Away" artist explained that he couldn't "escape" the image.
"I cannot escape this," Kravitz told Fallon. “I live in the Bahamas, I’m used to hot weather and I had to go to the store, I was buying some groceries and I thought I’d put on a little scarf to protect my throat, and that’s the scarf I had.”
"The guy who made that scarf, you can blame that on," he continued. "He made that scarf and he gave it to me, and that was the day I thought I would break it out. And I had no idea that there would be paparazzi."
"Here’s the thing about the internet though, that’s the problem—the scarf keeps getting bigger, and bigger and bigger," he concluded.

Queen Latifah Finally Working on Her Biopic
*Queen Latifah is finally putting a spanner to the works for her life story, according to Variety. The new biopic is such a massive project that it will be subdivided into a series of movies, each possibly about hip-hop icons whose works influenced or impacted the rapper/singer/actress.
She and her Flavor Unit Entertainment partner Shakim Compere will produce the forthcoming movie with Westbrook Studios and Jesse Collins Entertainment (“The New Edition Story” and “The Bobby Brown Story”).
Will Smith and Miguel Melendez will produce for Westbrook Studios, Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon will produce for Jesse Collins Entertainment, and Charlie Mack will also serve as a producer on the project.
In a statement announcing the project and the collaboration, the Grammy and Emmy winner and Oscar nominee praised Hip Hop’s impact.
“We all came into this industry together and Hip Hop has shaped every one of us,” read the joint statement by Latifah and Compere. “Hip Hop’s impact has expanded beyond just music and has created a lasting impression on culture and society overall. It is a dream to be able to collaborate with friends and colleagues that have not only a shared understanding but can tell these stories that were the backdrop of our lives.”
In 2022, Latifah teased that she was considering preparing a film version of the Dana Owens story.
“I actually have some things I’m cooking up,” she said then, according to a Variety report. “[But] I’ve got to break some of that up [into different projects]. There’s so many stories to tell.”
The project is among the list of iconic artist biopics that HarbourView Equity Partners has pledged to finance. Over 70 music catalogs and thousands of titles spanning numerous genres, eras, and artists are already lined up for potential development opportunities.
There are additional projects whose details will be released along the way.

Rev. Al Sharpton’s ‘Complicated’ Father Dead at 93 – ‘May My Daddy Rest in Peace’
*Rev. Al Sharpton’s father has died at age 93. While announcing his father’s demise, the 69-year-old civil rights activist and Reverend also took the opportunity to remind the world that his dad had not been a really good father.
“I’m deeply saddened to announce the passing of my father, Al Sharpton, Sr. Our relationship was complicated, but he was still my father,” read a statement released on Saturday by the MSNBC host after his father — senior Sharpton — died in Orlando, Florida on Friday, reports the NY Post.
By “our relationship was complicated” he referenced his father’s past complicated behaviors.
“Born and raised in Jim Crow Florida, he later came to New York City and became a successful entrepreneur. Though his weaknesses may have cost him, he instilled in my sister and me (and later our other siblings) a mentality of independence and self-pride. I’ve learned from my own mistakes and his. May my Daddy rest in peace,” he said.
When Reverend Sharpton was only 10, his father abandoned the family in 1963 and eloped with young Sharpton’s 18-year-old half-sister with whom he started a relationship and a family. The father owned various residential buildings in Brooklyn at the time. In 2013, Reverend Sharpton narrated the ordeal to Oprah Winfrey
“I wake up one morning, he’s gone. And not only is he gone, my oldest sister from my mother’s first marriage,” he narrated. “Left with him and they had a child. And then they came and took my sister to live with them.”
It’s this frustration and rejection that drove young Sharpton to seek God. He found solace in the church. As for his frustrations, he put them to good use: He championed civil rights. He has always maintained that it’s his father’s indiscretions that changed his path in life. Sharpton turned to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, to fill the vacuum left by his biological father.
But he finally reconciled with his complicated father in 2006. “Over the past 18 years, I was able to work through my pain and feelings of abandonment, and we built a relationship that meant a lot to me,” stated the Reverend.
But even after reconciliation, the Reverend continued to reference the damaged relationship in milestone social media posts in recent years, no doubt to warn the would-be bad fathers.
This past June, Sharpton posted a Father’s Day message for his “natural father,” saying, “Though he left when I was 10 years old, we reconciled many years later. I’ve learned from his wisdom and tenacity.”
It therefore makes sense why he has continued to point out his father’s failures even after his death. He also urged his followers to use his father’s passing as an opportunity to reconcile damaged relationships with loved ones and family.
