#Empire: Jussie Smollett Maintains He’s Innocent In 2019 Racist & Homophobic Attack: ”It’s Fight Or Die At This Point”!
A few weeks ago, the city of Chicago brought charges against Jussie Smollett for claims that he was attacked by racists who used homophobic slurs last year.
Following the alleged attack, many were skeptical of Smollett’s claims, which resulted in the city’s charges against Smollett for allegedly filing a false report.
Though the city of Chicago dropped charges against the ‘Empire’ star last year, after months of speculation surrounding the incident, Smollett has been indicted.
Lion’s Share News recently caught up with Smollett outside of LAX, where he maintained his innocence.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” Smollett told paparazzi on the status of his current indictment. “It’s fight or die at this point.”
After paparazzi stated the actor is still claiming is innocence, Smollett responded, “I don’t claim to be innocent, I am innocent.”
Standing by his side during the interview was Smollett’s lawyer who claims he’s strong and resilient.

“He’s holding up,” his lawyer told the news outlet. “He’ll get through this. We have faith that the system will eventually work in our favor.”
Following the recent charges brought against Smollett by a grand jury, Smollett has pled not guilty and has filed a motion for the entire case to be thrown out over double jeopardy.
When asked what will hold up better in court, not doing it or the double jeopardy, he responded, “The truth is the best defense. They know nothing about me.”

His lawyer stuck to the innocent notion as well when asked if she thinks their motion could hold up in court, she responded, “I do. That’s why we filed the motion.”

#HipHopNews: Cardi B is coming out With A New Track Titled ‘Respect’!
While fans await her highly-anticipated sophomore album, the rapper is teasing a brand new track. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, she shared an 8-second snippet with the caption “Respect.”
“Don’t get offended by rumors ’cause I done heard quite a few / You might have heard I love red, but I slap a bitch out the blue / Hell yeah,” Cardi raps on the heavy-hitting track.

Earlier this month, she revealed that she’s nearing completion on the follow-up to her debut Invasion of Privacy. “I have my cool, calm, and collected songs, just missing a couple of more club hits,” she told Baller Alert. “But we getting there.”
However, she has not set a release date yet. “I can never put a date on it ’cause when you feel that you got those songs, that’s when it’s gonna come out,” she added. “I cannot put a date on my ears. When I feel like I have it, that’s when.”

Prior to that, Cardi also shared a teaser of a Wheezy-produced track that may appear on the album. “Shake, earthquake,” she raps in the clip.

The album, which she once titled Tiger Woods, follows 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, which became the longest-charting debut album from a female rapper in Billboard history.

ABC News suspends correspondent David Wright for remarks that were secretly recorded by right-wing group!
ABC News said on Wednesday that it had suspended a veteran correspondent David Wright after the journalist was secretly recorded on video by a right-wing activist group leveling criticism against the network and making disparaging comments about President Donald Trump.
"Any action that damages our reputation for fairness and impartiality or gives the appearance of compromising it harms ABC News and the individuals involved," an ABC News spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.

It was not clear how long David Wright had been suspended for and an ABC News spokesperson declined to say.
David Wright is a veteran correspondent who has worked at ABC News since 2000. He has traveled the globe for the network covering major news stories, and interviewed Silicon Valley titans like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Most recently, Wright has assisted ABC News with its coverage of Trump's presidency.
Wright was approached by someone claiming to be a documentarian, a person familiar with the matter said. The correspondent didn't know he was being taped, the person added.

The right-wing activist group that recorded Wright released the video of him on Wednesday. The group has a history conducting undercover sting operations against members of the news media. It previously targeted CNN, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.
In the video released Wednesday, Wright compared Trump to a "nightmare spouse" and said he didn't like him because he's a "dick." An off-camera voice was heard asking Wright about his political ideology, to which Wright responded by saying he identified as a socialist.
Wright also leveled criticism against ABC and other network news outlets for what he perceived as lackluster coverage of Trump.

"We don't hold [Trump] to account," Wright said. "We also don't give him credit for the things he does do."
Some of Wright's criticisms against ABC News were not novel or outlandish. Wright, for instance, expressed dissatisfaction with some of the fluffier content aired on the channel.
"You can't watch 'Good Morning America' without there being a Disney princess or a Marvel avenger appearing," Wright said. ABC is a division of the Walt Disney Company, which also owns Marvel Studios.

The suspension of Wright was the third high-profile suspension ABC News has handed down in recent years. In 2018, the network suspended Brian Ross over an erroneous story on Michael Flynn. And in January, the network suspended reporter Matt Gutman over inaccurate on-air speculation in the immediate aftermath of Kobe Bryant's death.

Tyler Perry's Nephew Dead After Hanging Himself in Prison, Family Suspects Foul Play!
TMZ reports Tyler Perry's nephew Gavin Porter died on Tuesday by hanging himself while in solitary confinement. Porter was 26.

Porter, who was serving a 20-year sentence at the Union Parish Detention Center in Farmerville, Louisiana, was placed in solitary on Saturday night after he allegedly got into a fight that involved several inmates this past weekend, according to the News Star. Guards said that they checked on him at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and Porter appeared to be fine. A little more than two hours later, they checked on him again, and found him with a bedsheet wrapped around his neck.
Porter's immediate family, which includes his mother, who is Perry's sister, were told that there was no suspicious activity that contributed to his death. However, they have their doubts. An investigation is already underway with Porter's body being sent to Arkansas for an autopsy.

Porter was charged in October 2016 with second-degree murder for fatally shooting his biological father in front of his mother after an argument got out of hand. Perry has yet to comment on his nephew's death.

#AHS10: Macaulay Culkin Will Join The 10th Season Of ‘American Horror Story’!
Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin will be joining the cast of American Horror Story in its 10th season.
The Hollywood Reporter reported on Wednesday that Culkin will be hitting the spooky set alongside AHS alums Sarah Paulsen and Evan Peters, who sat the last season out, according to the publication.

The Ryan Murphy-led anthology series is heading into its 10th season and will re-cast some of its former actors, including Kathy Bates, Angelica Ross, Billie Lourd, Finn Wittrock, and more. This will be Culkin’s first regular role in a television series. While Culkin is widely known for his child acting career, he hasn’t completely moved away from TV screens, guest-starring in programs like Dollface, Robot Chicken, and Kings.

The 39-year-old actor also just wrapped up an interview with Esquire, in which he shared why he took a break from acting. “I enjoy acting. I enjoy being on set. I don’t enjoy a lot of the other things that come around it. What’s a good analogy. The Shawshank Redemption. The way he gets out of prison is to crawl through a tube of shit, you know? It feels like to get to that kind of freedom, I’d have to crawl through a tube of shit. And you know what? I’ve built a really nice prison for myself. It’s soft. It’s sweet. It smells nice. You know? It’s plush,” Culkin said.
In celebration of having Culkin join the squad, Murphy, who is also the showrunner of the series, posed the news via Instagram. THR reports that American Horror Story is the most-watched original series and just picked up a three-season renewal.
Season 10 is expected to premiere sometime in fall 2020.

Former President Barack Obama demands South Carolina TV stations pull misleading ad attacking Biden!
Former president Barack Obama on Wednesday called on South Carolina television stations to stop running an ad from a super PAC supporting President Trump that uses Obama’s words out of context in a misleading attack on former vice president Joe Biden.
The Committee to Defend the President, a pro-Trump group, circulated an ad that falsely suggests that words Obama spoke in the narration of his own 1995 book were meant to describe Biden.
The group, which placed a similar amount of anti-Biden advertising in Nevada earlier this month, reported to the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday spending more than $250,000 in South Carolina to oppose Biden.

“This despicable ad is straight out of the Republican disinformation playbook, and it’s clearly designed to suppress turnout among minority voters in South Carolina by taking President Obama’s voice out of context and twisting his words to mislead viewers,” Katie Hill, Obama’s communications director, said in a statement. “In the interest of truth in advertising, we are calling on TV stations to take this ad down and stop playing into the hands of bad actors who seek to sow division and confusion among the electorate.”

Hill said Obama has “several friends” in the Democratic presidential primary, “including, of course, his own esteemed Vice President.” She also said Obama has “no plans to endorse in the primary.”
Late Wednesday, Patchen M. Haggerty, an attorney representing Obama, wrote the pro-Trump group’s executive director, Chad Banghart, to say the ad’s unauthorized use of Obama’s “name, image, likeness, voice and book passage is clearly intended to mislead the target audience of the ad into believing that the passage from the audiobook is a statement that was made by President Obama during his presidency.”
The letter demanded that the group “immediately remove” the ad from public view.
An attempt to sway black voters in the state, the ad begins with a narrator saying “Joe Biden promised to help our community. It was a lie. Here’s President Obama.”

The ad then runs audio of Obama reading an unrelated passage from his book, “Dreams from My Father,” about a conversation he had with a barber in Chicago when he was a community organizer.
The Obama passage, which describes the mistreatment of black voters by politicians, refers to complaints about “plantation politics” and the history in Chicago of Democratic politicians expecting black votes despite poor housing, poor job opportunities and police brutality.
The ad repurposes a similar attack the Committee to Defend the President ran last year in several states with many black politicians, including Georgia, Michigan and Louisiana, according to PolitiFact . Similar tactics, aimed at decreasing black turnout for Democrats, were used in a radio ad by another pro-Trump super PAC, Great America Alliance, in the 2017 special House election in Georgia.

“Donald Trump and his allies are absolutely terrified that Joe Biden will defeat him in November. Trump even got himself impeached by trying to force another country to lie about the vice president,” said Andrew Bates, a spokesman for the Biden campaign. “This latest intervention in the Democratic primary is one of the most desperate yet, a despicable torrent of misinformation by the president’s lackeys.”
Separately, Republican activists in South Carolina have boasted about a plan called Operation Chaos to encourage Trump backers to vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in Saturday’s primary. The South Carolina GOP has canceled the state’s Republican primary this year.
The Committee to Defend the President, which grew out of a group called Stop Hillary PAC, traditionally raises its money in increments of $5,000 or less, according to FEC records. The group has reported spending $655,285 on television advertising, $279,800 on voter phone contact, and $144,657 on online voter contact since the beginning of this year.
The group spent about $250,000 on a Spanish-language ad before the Nevada caucuses attacking Obama and Biden on immigration reform.
“They separated families and put children in cages,” the narrator says in that spot, appropriating a Democratic critique of Trump’s immigration actions.

Ted Harvey, chairman of the Committee to Defend the President, defended the group’s advertising in a statement on Wednesday.

“It took President Trump to lower black unemployment and create jobs for the African-American community, in addition to passing criminal justice reform,” Harvey said in the statement. “Joe Biden, on the other hand, is simply giving lip-service for votes. That’s the point President Obama made in his book, and we have every right to use his own words — in his own voice — in the political forum.”

Niecy Nash Talks The Public Backlash Following Her Divorce: ‘For Some People, Forever Ain’t Forever, It’s For Now’!
Niecy Nash recently turned 50 and went through a divorce from her husband of eight years, Jay Tucker. Despite any of this, the actress says she has never been better.
“At this age, you live long enough to know that you don’t owe nobody nothing,” the Claws star told PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

Nash and Tucker announced their divorce last October via social media. Spectators immediately had much to say, considering how much of the marriage was documented on social media and even inspired her to release a relationship advice book in 2013, It’s Hard to Fight Naked.
“I wrote a book about love, and people were then on social media going, ‘Oh, so I guess all that stuff you put in that book didn’t work?’” she said. “I still believe every single thing I said in that book, but I also believe that sometimes for some people, forever ain’t forever, it’s for now.”

Nash explained that the couple realized that they suited one another better as friends.

Congress Makes Lynching A Federal Crime 65 Years After Emmett Till’s Death!
Congress finally passed legislation for lynching to be listed as a hate crime under federal law, 65 years after the murder of Emmett Till.
NBC News reports the bill was first introduced by Illinois Rep. Bobby Rush and was approved Wednesday after a 410 to 4 vote in the House. Last year, the legislation was passed by the Senate meaning if one commits the act, it will charged as a federal hate crime leading to a life sentence in prison or a fine. Rush said in a statement that the bill will spread the message that bigotry will not be tolerated within the nation:

“The importance of this bill cannot be overstated. From Charlottesville to El Paso, we are still being confronted with the same violent racism and hatred that took the life of Emmett and so many others. The passage of this bill will send a strong and clear message to the nation that we will not tolerate this bigotry.”
Emmett Till,14, was kidnapped, tortured and murdered in 1955 after a white woman accused him of whistling at her at a grocery store in Mississippi. The teen was visiting family around time and lived in Chicago with his mother. A open casket funeral was held by Mamie Till so she could show the world what happened to her son.

For 120 years, Congress refused to pass the law as a hate crime starting in 1900 when the bill was first introduced by North Carolina Rep. George Henry White. Since then it was rejected 200 times despite multiple efforts from legislators and representatives

Snoop Dogg On ‘Red Table Talk’ He Reflects On Gayle King Comments, Pop Smoke’s Death!
In the wake of his apology to Gayle King following her interview about Kobe Bryant, the rap icon stopped by Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk” on Facebook Watch to discuss his controversial comments and what led to his apology.

“It was just a matter of me losing control because we still haven’t swallowed Nip. That’s still in our heart right now. And then Kobe and his daughter?” said Snoop while reflecting on the helicopter crash that killed Kobe, his daughter Gianna, and seven others.
Snoop, who recently lost a grandson and grandmother, expressed his source of anger. “I gotta be strong in front of everybody. Remember that part. You gotta turn it on. It’s time to be Snoop again, but what about when I wanna cry? What about when I’m hurting and I’m feeling bad and I feel disgusted and I wanna be angry and I wanna just blurt out? I can’t. I let my emotions get the best of me. I was frustrated on top of just venting, and doing it the wrong way.

He also opened up about his relationship with the late Lakers legend. “Kobe was like the son and the brother to L.A. that we all needed and we all loved him for that,” he said. “Our relationship was based off of just being fans. I’m a fan of his, he was a fan of mine’s. I loved everything he did on the court, off the court. I loved him as a father to his daughters and how he was transforming into that man that we all want to be.”

Jada said that she had not seen black men collectively so upset about something. “I see it all the time,” said Snoop. “Because I’m a black man. We just came from behind closed doors. It’s a collective feeling of ‘You guys are targeting us. You guys are coming after us. And you guys are us.'”
He felt the need to stand up for Kobe and protect his grieving family. “When someone becomes a superhero, it’s our job to protect that superhero,” he said. “I wanted to make sure that what I said was said the right way and I wanted to make sure the message was across that we love Kobe and be respectful of Vanessa and those kids. That’s what the whole intent was, to protect that woman and them babies over there because she’s still grieving. And let’s give them that respect.”
His decision to apologize was prompted after a call from his mother. “My mother raised me in church and she raised me to respect women so it was just certain things that she said to me that took me back to being a little kid. And when your mama can make you feel like a kid, that’s when you gotta get right. I didn’t feel grown, I didn’t feel like I was Snoop Dogg the rapper. I felt like Snoopy.”

So Snoop decided on his own, without any input from his team, that he wanted to publicly apologize (“The apology is authentic, it’s sincere, and I’m really sorry”). He has yet to speak with King personally but he reached out her team and sent her a DM (“Sending her a prayer, letting her know I apologize to her”).
Diddy, Tyler Perry, and Van Jones all reached out to him in the wake of the controversy. “They didn’t bash me, they just was, ‘Brother, we got your back. If you need… But we think that you should have said it…,'” he said. “We got a real brotherhood going on behind the scenes, for real.”

During the “Red Table Talk,” the 48-year-old rapper also reflected on the death of Pop Smoke, who he had recently seen in New York. “God don’t make no mistakes though and he talking to us right now. We need to heed his messages and understand why all of this is happening. Understand what’s the importance of something like this.”
His death is still hard for him to process. “I’ve always been able to be the one in front of it all. I gotta go home and think about this one ’cause this was a low blow right there. 20-year-old?” said Snoop.

Elsewhere in the 30-minute conversation, the Doggfather also spoke on the bond between YG and Nipsey Hussle as Bloods and Crips and the loss of his grandson.

Trump Addresses The Nation On The Coronavirus, Claims Risk To Americans Is ‘Very Low,’!
Trump Addresses The Nation On The Coronavirus, Claims Risk To Americans Is ‘Very Low’
Panic and concern over the spread of the Coronavirus here in the US continues to grow as the latest reports reveal that the World Health Organization (WHO) is now telling folks to prepare for a possible pandemic.
The New York Post reports that the worldwide death toll from the infection currently stands at over 2,700 — with most of the cases still in mainland China. More than 80,000 global cases have been reported across every continent except Antarctica. It was said that there have only been 60 confirmed diagnoses across the US, according to the CDC.

U.S. President Donald Trump finally decided to address the nation today. While speaking to reporters this evening at a news conference at the White House to discuss how his administration was handling the virus threat, Trump said that a vaccine is being developed “rapidly” and “coming along very well.” He added that “the risk to the American people remains very low. The level has been very low and those people are getting better.” Trump then put Vice President Pence in charge of the administration’s coronavirus response.
“We’re doing really well, and Mike is going to be in charge,” Trump said, noting that Pence’s experience as governor of Indiana made him adept at working with state and local health authorities. “We’re ready to adapt and ready to do whatever we have to as the disease spreads, if it spreads,” he said.

According to NPR, Trump also said he would work with Congress on funding. His administration has asked for $2.5 billion, but he said lawmakers appear amenable to offering much more money.
