The Daily Buzz For Feb 25 ☕📰☕

Zendaya for Vogue Australia - March 2020!
She's gone from Disney Channel alum to bonafide actress at just 23 years of age.
But in her cover story for Vogue Australia's March issue, Zendaya said that she's just at the beginning of her career, and views her 'big accomplishments' as 'very minor'.
'I guess I look back and I'm proud of what I have been able to do, but I always look at things like [it's just] the beginning, which is sometimes a blessing and a curse,' she explained.
'Because even if I have big accomplishments, they're very minor to me. It's just that I have more to do. I guess that's what makes you not be too full of yourself,' she continued.
And while she's focused on the year ahead, the Euphoria actress admitted to feeling pressure in following the right path in Hollywood.

'I think I have always felt a lot of pressure to make the right move, take the right steps,' she said. 'This year is about getting better; it's not necessarily about the moves.'

The comments run alongside a cover image that sees Zendaya posing on the floor of a bedroom.
She sports a soft pink frock with a cut-out detail that offers a glimpse of her abs, teamed with red fishnet stockings and black strappy heels.
Her brunette locks frame her face and she gazes intently at the camera.
While an inside shot sees Zendaya laying across a bed, holding onto the heel of her yellow heel with one hand.
She dons an all-blue ensemble, including opaque tights, and looks deep in thought.
Zendaya starred on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up from 2010 to 2013.
She went on to land roles in films including 2017's The Greatest Showman and 2019's Spider-Man: Far from Home.
In 2019, she debuted as Rue Bennett, a 17-year-old recovering drug addict struggling to find her place in the world, in HBO's controversial drama series Euphoria.

Euphoria follows a group of high school students through their experiences of sex, drugs, friendships, love and trauma.

#RHOA: Uh Oh! Kenya Has An Awkward Run-In with NeNe!
While planning a charity event, Kenya makes it known she'd "prefer" NeNe and Gregg Leakes not attend.
Sunday's episode of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" was all about couples not being on the same page.
At the top of the new hour, Cynthia Bailey and fiance Mike Hill had a conversation about his past infidelity. Last week, she met all his female friends, who made Mike out to be a former player. She decided to take a closer look at his memoir, in which he explained that he did cheat on his two ex-wives. It concerned her.
In talking to Mike about it, Cynthia insisted she would never cheat and never has, but he said never say never, which sparked an argument. He felt she was trying to point out his flaws without allowing him to point out hers. Cynthia said that's why they needed counseling, but he was reluctant.

Days later, Mike agreed, saying he had found someone in Atlanta they could talk to. Cynthia, who had never gone to therapy before, was excited because she saw how much Porsha Williams and Dennis McKinley's relationship improved after getting help.
Later, Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss told the ladies they had planned a cast trip to Greece. Poor Eva Marcille was very pregnant and therefore unable to go, but everyone else was invited, including NeNe Leakes.

"Lemme think," Kenya said in a later confessional. "Would I invite a treacherous, nasty, hypocritical bully on a Greece trip if Kandi was not co-hosting? Hmmm. Yeah, no."
Later, Kenya and husband Marc Daly decided to throw a couples bowling event so everyone could get acquainted before another big charity event he was throwing. While the Leakes were apparently welcome to go bowling, Moore wanted a little more control over NeNe's invitation to the charity event.
"If you want me to reach out to Gregg [Leakes], I will," Marc told Kenya, "Whoever wants to come can come." Kenya explained she was "not in a good place with NeNe" and that she "would prefer they not" be there. She eventually told Marc he could invite Gregg if he wanted to, but that she had no intention of inviting NeNe, who she also left out of her Instagram post about the event.

"Why did you tag Gregg and not NeNe?" asked an off-camera producer. "I know how nasty she has been to me for no reason. I'm not going to invite NeNe," Moore replied.
Kenya told Marc she felt "very uncomfortable being in an intimate setting with her when she has not addressed the fact that she has tried to fight me, she's called me names, she's cursing me out..."
"She tried to fight you?" Marc interrupted. Referring to a blowup from a previous episode, Kenya said, "Yes. She got in my face, pointing, and people had to hold her back."

"A lot of people get in your face. That don't mean they wanna fight," replied Marc, once again annoying Kenya. Her issue since day one has been that Marc doesn't back her up or stand in her corner the way she wants him to.
Fast-forward to the bowling night. Tanya Sam wasn't there because Kenya told her it was a couples thing and Paul couldn't make it. When Marc got wind of this, he put Kenya on blast in front of everyone, saying he never said it was couples only. Cynthia and Eva were both there without their significant others. Kenya, however, did call Tanya a "c--t" a few weeks back, so she probably just didn't want her there.

"I feel like the whole essence of a charity event would've been a good opportunity to have Tanya and have Paul come to this," Porsha said to Kenya. "Tanya had a relationship with you. Y'all liked each other. There was something unfortunate that happened that both of y'all went there..."
"Oh, really? It was unfortunate?" Kenya asked, prompting Porsha to fire back, "Oh, yeah, You calling my friend a c--t is pretty unf--kingfortunate!" Kenya insisted it was not Porsha's fight, and she agreed but said she was "just being honest." She also told Kenya to put her finger down.

When Eva asked Marc if he had invited NeNe to the charity event, he said he had spoken to Gregg and said he had no problem with NeNe being there. Later, Kandi urged Kenya to reach out to NeNe about the event, since Marc had been talking to Gregg. "Marc can reach out to her and invite her," Kenya said, prompting Kandi to bring up the fact that Kenya tagged Gregg and not NeNe in her Instagram post.
"Marc wanted him there," Kenya said. That's when Marc interjected, "Ken! Ken! Ken, let's reign it in. Let's put all this me, you, I -- put that away." Everyone noticed the "Ken" nickname. According to Cynthia, who knows the couple well, "Kenya's very different when it comes to her husband." Porsha added that she noticed Kenya tends to "falls back" in Marc's presence.

"I agree with [Kandi]. We need to reach out to her because, at the end of the day, it's not about us," Marc said. "We gotta look beyond ourselves."
That's when NeNe and Gregg showed up -- after everyone was done bowling. NeNe said a very dramatic hello to everyone, even attempting to hug Kenya while chanting her name. But Kenya had no interest. She was polite and said hello but definitely didn't reciprocate NeNe's energy, nor did she accept her hug. It was awkward.

Marc got to talking with Gregg. NeNe was standing next to her husband, who explained to Marc his "dilemma" was the following: "I can't go nowhere my wife can't come."
"She's invited!" Marc insisted, as Kenya made her way over to where they were standing. "No, she's not," Gregg said. "She's not on the link to the invite." Marc reiterated that she was.
NeNe later told the camera that if she had invited Marc to something and not invited Kenya, Kenya would've had "a whole brand new baby over it, okay?"

"I'll say it in front of everyone so we don't have any miscommunication," Marc then said, in front of his wife. "We're gonna shelve all the nonsense for Tuesday. I'm not on Instagram, so I don't know what happened, but that's irrelevant to me. The point is I want [Gregg] to be there. You [NeNe] have to support your spouse. I would never divide a couple, so I want you guys both there. Kenya agrees."
"Ken" nodded her head and said, "I agree." NeNe noted the nickname, later telling the camera she liked "Ken" because "Ken shuts the f--k up."

When NeNe leaned in to give Kenya another hug, Kenya barely reciprocated. "Is there an issue?" NeNe asked twice, but Kenya said they would "talk another time."

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

#Empire: Jussie Smollett appeals to state supreme court in new legal volley against special prosecutor!
Former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, who appeared in a Chicago courtroom this morning facing a new six-count indictment against him for allegedly faking a hate-crime attack in 2019, has pulled a new legal card out of his sleeve.
The actor’s legal team filed a motion Monday morning with the Illinois Supreme Court seeking an emergency stay of the criminal case against him as the court considers the lawyers’ request to vacate a Cook County Circuit court order appointing a special prosecutor, attorney Dan. K. Webb, and to dismiss the indictment.
The attorneys are arguing that “the recent Smollett indictment wasn’t proper because the special prosecutor was appointed incorrectly,” said attorney William J. Quinlan, who filed the motion.

In seeking the extraordinary remedy, the motion argues that the appointment was riddled with legal errors.
“The circumstances surrounding the initial case in 2019 did not reach the legal level warranting the appointment of a special prosecutor,” he said. “Under the terms of the law, in order to appoint a special prosecutor, the office (of Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx) had to file a former recusal with the court . . . and that didn’t occur here,” Quinlan added.
Cook County Judge Michael Toomin had previously denied Smollett’s effort to vacate the appointment of a special prosecutor.

Smollett was charged Feb. 11 with six counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police about the attack repeatedly.

#MusicNews: Bilal Returns With New Single “Enough is All I Need”!
Soul crooner Bilal returns with the brand new single called “Enough is All I Need”. The song is lifted from the soundtrack for the independent film “In God I Trust” in which Bilal is making his acting debut.
The accompanying music video finds Bilal contemplating life as he makes his way through the world and really brings out the lyrics of the song.

It is of course always a special occasion when we get new music from Bilal. The singer is notable for taking hiatuses between releases and in this instance he hasn’t released anything since his album “In Another Life” in 2015.

No word about an upcoming fifth studio album from Bilal, but let’s hope that something is on the horizon.

#HipHopNews: Pusha-T Pulls ‘Hunting Season’ Track In Wake Of Pop Smoke’s Death!
Pusha-T is pulling his “Hunting Season” collaboration with Jadakiss in the wake of Pop Smoke’s death.
The rappers’ new track arrived at streaming services on Friday but went missing shortly after. Now Pusha is revealing that he decided to remove it out of respect for Pop, who was shot and killed Wednesday in the Hollywood Hills.

The song included the lyrics: “I’ve got a couple rappers heads on the wall of my crib” and “When I think think of all these rappers, it’s huntin’ season.”
Taking to Instagram, Push explained his reasoning. “‘Hunting Season’ was a request that IcePick Jay (RIP) always had and in light of his death me and Kiss made an incredible song,” he said. “With that being said, the whole concept of ‘Hunting Season’ and the hypothetical ideas of ‘killing rappers’ isn’t setting well with me while mourning the recent death of Popsmoke. Rest in Peace POP and condolences to his family.”
Pusha-T and Pop Smoke shared the same manager. “All love and utmost respect to @jadakiss and the memory of my good friend @icepicjay again RIP @realpopsmoke and condolences to the family…” Push captioned his post.
His announcement received support from friends including Bun B. “Grown man shit,” the Houston rapper wrote in the comments.

It’s unclear if “Hunting Season” will end up on Jadakiss’ new album Ignatius, which drops Feb. 28. The album is named after Jadakiss’ manager and longtime friend Ignatius “Icepick Jay” Jackson, who died in 2017.

#RIP: Katherine Johnson, NASA Mathematician And An Inspiration For 'Hidden Figures,' Dies at 101!
Katherine Johnson, a mathematician who was one of NASA's human "computers" and an unsung hero of the space agency's early days, died Monday. She calculated the flight path for America's first space mission and the first moon landing, and she was among the women profiled in the book and movie Hidden Figures. She was 101.
Her death was announced by NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. "The NASA family will never forget Katherine Johnson's courage and the milestones we could not have reached without her," Bridenstine wrote on Twitter. "Her story and her grace continue to inspire the world."

Johnson was born in West Virginia in 1918. As a young girl, she was fascinated by numbers and it was clear early on she was gifted. She graduated from high school at 14 and finished college with degrees in math and French from historically black West Virginia State College. She initially became a teacher but, in 1953, took a job at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics — the agency that would become NASA. "Everybody there was doing research," she recalled in later years, "You had a mission and you worked on it."
She was one of a handful of African American women hired to do computing in the guidance and navigation department at Langley's Research Center in Virginia. The women battled both racism and sexism. As Johnson told public television station WHRO in 2011, none of it held her back: "I just happened to be working with guys and when they had briefings, I asked permission to go. And they said, 'Well, the girls don't usually go.' and I said, 'Well, is there a law?' They said, 'No.' So then my boss said, 'Let her go.' "

And she never stopped going, using her extraordinary computing skills to move up the NASA chain. She hand-computed the trajectory of the first manned launch and continued to be important to the astronauts.
Before John Glenn flew Friendship 7 in 1962, becoming the first American to orbit Earth, he asked Johnson to double-check the math of the "new electronic" computations. "But when he got ready to go, he said, 'Call her. And if she says the computer is right, I'll take it,' " she recalled.

Margot Lee Shetterly wrote the book Hidden Figures and said that Glenn considered Johnson's calculations part of his preflight checklist. "So the astronaut who became a hero looked to this black woman in the still-segregated South at the time as one of the key parts of making sure his mission would be a success," she told NPR in 2016.
Johnson did calculations for the first moon landing, and later for the space shuttle program. President Barack Obama awarded her the nation's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, at a 2015 White House ceremony. "In her 33 years at NASA, Katherine was a pioneer who broke the barriers of race and gender, showing generations of young people that everyone can excel in math and science, and reach for the stars," Obama said.

Johnson's accomplishments continued to be highlighted later in life. She got a standing ovation at the Academy Awards in 2017 and NASA named the Computational Research Facility in her honor.

#BREAKING: Harvey Weinstein Found Guilty Of Rape, Criminal Sexual Act, But Acquitted On Other Charges!
Harvey Weinstein, the once-powerful Hollywood mogul, was found guilty of rape in the third degree Monday but acquitted on the two most serious criminal charges, capping a landmark trial of the #MeToo era.
The jury in New York convicted Weinstein, 67, of third-degree rape of Jessica Mann, a former aspiring actress, as well as a count of criminal sexual act in the first degree against Mimi Haley, a former "Project Runway" production assistant.
But the jury found him not guilty on two counts of predatory sexual assault, which could have resulted in a life sentence. He was also acquitted on a count of first-degree rape against Mann.
The jury of seven men and five women deliberated for five days, causing anxiety among his accusers. The jurors appeared solemn and stared straight ahead as they entered the courtroom before reading the verdict.

In all, more than 80 women have accused the Oscar-winning producer behind "Pulp Fiction" and "The King's Speech" of sexual assault and harassment going back decades, though the charges were based primarily on allegations from Haley and Mann, who each took the stand to describe their experiences in oftentimes graphic and emotional terms.

But in more than a month inside a Manhattan court, prosecutors called four other accusers as witnesses who could testify about Weinstein's alleged pattern of serial abuse, including "The Sopranos" actress Annabella Sciorra, who has accused him of raping her in the early 1990s.
Weinstein, who showed no emotion as the verdict was read, pleaded not guilty in the case and denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex. His lawyers argued the trial was an example of the #MeToo movement having run amok, and repeatedly attempted to raise doubts about his accusers' credibility and motivations in coming forward.

He was handcuffed and taken into custody just after 12 p.m. ET. He is slated to be sentenced on March 11.

#BoxOfficeNews : ‘Sonic’ Narrowly Beats Harrison Ford’s ‘Call of the Wild’!
After a close box office battle, Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” pulled ahead of Disney and 20th Century’s “The Call of the Wild” on North American charts.
The two movies had been in a surprising tug-of-war for first place. Heading into the weekend, “Sonic” was expected to easily dominate again but Harrison Ford’s “Call of the Wild” ended up taking the top spot on Friday. Ultimately, “Sonic” finished the weekend with $26.3 million, enough to defeat “Call of the Wild” and its $25 million debut.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” became an unexpected box office hit after launching with a stellar $70 million over the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend. In its second week of release, the movie crossed the $100 million mark in North America and has surpassed $200 million globally.
Though “Call of the Wild” beat projections, it carries a massive $125 million price tag, so the PG film will need support from ticket buyers across the globe to break even. It launched overseas with $15.4 million from 40 foreign markets, taking its worldwide haul to $40.2 million. The latest adaptation of Jack London’s 1900s novel got a mixed reviews from critics, though moviegoers were more impressed and gave the film an “A-” CinemaScore.

STX’s supernatural thriller “Brahms: The Boy II,” this weekend’s other new release, generated $6 million from 2,151 venues, on par with expectations. Overseas, the horror film pulled in another $2.22 million for a global start of $8.22 million. Opening-weekend crowds for “Brahms: The Boy II” skewed female (53%), while 56% were under the age of 25. The standalone sequel to 2016’s “The Boy” — starring Katie Holmes — cost $10 million. STX reports that its exposure on the film is under $3 million after foreign pre-sales, meaning it should be financially successful for the studio.
Warner Bros.’ comic-book flick “Birds of Prey” landed in third place with $7 million from 1,965 theaters. After three weeks of release, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn spinoff has earned $72 million in North America. “Birds of Prey” dug up another $10 million abroad for a haul of $101.2 million internationally and $173.7 million globally.

Sony’s “Bad Boys for Life” nabbed the No. 5 slot, bringing in $6 million in its sixth weekend in theaters. The action-comedy sequel has amassed a huge $191 million to date.
Neon’s “Parasite” continues to draw crowds after its historic Oscar best picture win. Bong Joon Ho’s twisty South Korean thriller pulled in another $3.1 million this weekend for a domestic tally of $48.9 million, a huge result for a subtitled film.
At the specialty box office, Focus Features’ Jane Austen adaptation “Emma” pocketed $230,000 from five venues, averaging $46,000 from each location. The studio is bringing the film to 100 screens next weekend.

“‘Emma’ made its perfect match with audiences this weekend,” said Focus distribution president Lisa Bunnell. “Audiences have not only been charmed by Jane Austen’s classic story, but are entertained by its new humor told through the incredible cast of Anya Taylor-Joy, Bill Nighy, Johnny Flynn and the film’s brilliant director Autumn de Wilde.”

Amazon’s “Seberg” also opened in limited release and collected $60,487 from three theaters, averaging $20,162 per location. Kristen Stewart stars in the political thriller as actress Jean Seberg, who finds herself the target of an FBI surveillance program due to her associations with activist Hakim Jamal. The movie got mostly negative reviews, but Stewart received praise for her performance. Amazon is expanding the film — directed by Benedict Andrews and also starring Margaret Qualley and Zazie Beetz — to 300 venues next weekend.

Overall, box office ticket sales are up 5.9% from last year, according to Comscore. Over the coming weeks, Universal’s horror thriller “The Invisible Man” and Disney-Pixar’s family film “Onward” are expected to generate notable business.

Kirk Douglas left majority of $60M fortune to charity and none to his Son: Report
Kirk Douglas was known to be a charitable man while he was alive, and that continues in death.
According to The Mirror, the legendary actor had a $61 million fortune when he passed on Feb. 5, and he's giving the bulk of the money — about $50 million — to his charity, the Douglas Foundation, which benefits Children's Hospital Los Angeles, The Kirk and Anne Douglas Childhood Center, and a St. Lawrence University scholarship for underprivileged students, among others.

What happens to the remaining $11 million isn't known, but the "Spartacus" star is survived by his second wife, Anne, and his three sons, Joel, Peter, and Michael, and it's expected that the family will get the money that was not donated.
"The Douglas Foundation's principal goal is to help those who cannot otherwise help themselves. Its primary focus is improving the education and health, fostering the well-being, and most importantly developing new opportunities for the children who hold our future in their hands," the foundation said on its website. "Recognizing the crisis in health care today, the Douglas Foundation also lends its support to medical research, equipment, and programs within the health system that strive to enhance the quality of care in local communities."

Aretha Franklin Reportedly Said There Was ‘No Amount Of Money’ That Could Make Her Perform At Donald Trump’s Inauguration!
Aretha Franklin might have taken the stage to salute President Barack Obama for his first inauguration in 2009, but the late legendary singer once said there wasn’t enough money in the world for her to do the same for his successor, President Donald Trump.
A book,  Sinking in the Swamp: How Trump’s Minions and Misfits Poisoned Washington, by reporters Lachlan Markay and Asawin Suebsaeng claims that Aretha Franklin refused to sing for Donald Trump’s inauguration, according to PEOPLE.

“In the days after election night, President- elect Trump ordered Tom Barrack, his longtime confidant who was chairing the Presidential Inaugural Committee, to reach out to the music icon or her people to see if she would sing at his inaugural concert. Trump, who knew Franklin leaned liberal and had sung for Obama, had for years claimed the legendary soul artist was his dear ‘friend’ and desired it to be pitched to her as a chance to bridge the ideological chasm and to help heal the country following an emotional, unsparing general election.”
“What Franklin never got the chance to tell Trump to his face is that around the time she had learned of Team Trump’s overtures, she privately stressed to friends that ‘no amount of money’ could make the singer, a committed Hillary Clinton supporter, perform at a Trump inauguration.”

In fact, Aretha Franklin, who died in 2018, didn’t hold her tongue when speaking on Donald Trump. The book reads,
“More bluntly, in the year and a half before she passed away, Aretha Franklin would repeatedly call Donald Trump ‘despicable’ and, even more pointedly, a huge ‘piece of s—.’ “
Interestingly enough, Donald Trump had a different take on his relationship with Aretha Franklin, as he once claimed they were friends. He reportedly said shortly after her passing,
“I want to begin today by expressing my condolences to the family of a person I knew well. She worked for me on numerous occasions. She was terrific — Aretha Franklin — on her passing. She brought joy to million of lives and her extraordinary legacy will thrive and inspire many generations to come.”

His comments were addressed thanks to Rev. Al Sharpton when he spoke at her funeral.

What are your thoughts on Aretha Franklin’s alleged comments?

Designer Philipp Plein Faces Backlash For Featuring Gold Helicopter In Kobe Bryant Tribute!
Fashion designer Philipp Plein is facing backlash after a Kobe Bryant tribute during his Milan Fashion Week show this weekend.
The show featured bedazzled Lakers-inspired jerseys and sweatshirts with Bryant’s number, 24 on them. Also on stage was a gold Plein-branded plane, yacht, and helicopter…which did not sit well with many spectators.

Twitter wasn’t having it!
The issue came from the presumption that the designer is using Kobe’s death to sell his new collection, seeing as Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash on January 26th. The pieces are reportedly part of a new capsule collection, and the proceeds are expected to go to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.

Rihanna Calls For Unity At NAACP Image Awards!
Rihanna was honored with the President’s Award at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday.
Looking glamorous in a purple Givenchy gown, the 32-year-old singer, who celebrated her birthday earlier in the week, received a standing ovation as she accepted the award from NAACP President Derrick Johnson at the 51st annual ceremony, which was broadcast live on BET. During her moving speech, the music and fashion icon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist called for unity and equality.

“I’m going to try to keep this simple because tonight is not really about me because the purpose is bigger than me, right?” she began. “It’s not bigger than us together, but it’s bigger than me because my part is a very small part of the work that’s being done in this world and the work that has yet to be done.”
Rihanna, who has raised millions as part of her philanthropic efforts, continued with some inspiring words. “I’m lucky I was able to start the Clara Lionel Foundation in 2012. And if there’s any thing that I’ve learned is that we can only fix this world together. We can’t do it divided. I cannot emphasize that enough. We can’t let the de-sensitivity seep in. The, ‘If it’s your problem, then it’s not mine; It’s a woman’s problem; It’s a black people problem; It’s a poor people problem.'”

As she looked into the crowd, which included Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, and Tracee Ellis Ross, she stressed the importance of people of all backgrounds coming together. “I mean, how many of us in this room have colleagues and partners and friends from other races, sexes, religions? Show of hands. Well, they want to break bread with you, right? They like you? Well, then this is their problem, too. So when we’re marching and protesting and posting about the Michael Brown Juniors and Atatiana Jeffersons of the World, tell your friends to pull up.”
She ended by thanking the NAACP and celebrating the strength of the black community. “Thank you to the NAACP for all of your efforts to ensure equality for our communities. Thank you for celebrating our strength and tenacity. We’ve been denied opportunities since the beginning of time. Still, we prevail. so I’m honored. Imagine what we can do together. Thank you for this honor.”

The President’s Award is presented in recognition of a special achievement and distinguished public service. Previous recipients have included JAY-Z, Jesse Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, and Muhammad Ali.

Beyonce’s 8-year-old daughter picked up a pretty impressive trophy at the ceremony’s non-televised dinner on Friday (February 21), bringing home the award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration for the song “Brown Skin Girl,” which appears on the soundtrack for 2019’s The Lion King live-action remake, The Lion King: The Gift. Blue won the trophy for her work on the record that features her mom and fellow collaborators SAINt JHN and WizKiD. Not only does Blue sing on the track, she also has a song writing credit as well.

As her grandmother, Tina Knowles-Lawson pointed out in a celebratory social media post, the win is a pretty big deal for Blue, considering she’s the youngest person ever to earn an award of such esteem. "Congratulations BLUE IVY on your NAACP award last night for songing [sic] and writing on ‘Brown Skin Girl’ from the Album The Gift. 👏🏾👏🏾" Tina captioned a photo of her granddaughter. "The youngest artist to win a major award👏🏾👏🏾Grandma is soo proud of you️ 8 years old!!!!🙏🏾❤️ You are giving all the beautiful little brown girls a voice ❤️, she wrote on the social media app. Congrats!!!

In addition, Queen Bey took home three more trophies from the function for her work on the Lion King, including Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation Album.
