The Daily Buzz For Sept 11 ☕πŸ“°☕

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon for Entertainment Weekly - September 2019!
Reese Witherspoon isn’t about to cause a scene. But she is freaking out a little bit. “Diane Sawyer came to visit and oh my God, it was amazing!” Sitting in a Los Angeles restaurant on a balmy August evening, the Academy Award winner throws her hands over her face to muffle her excitement. (There will be no Elle Woods-esque squeal here.) She’s recalling the day that the legendary broadcast journalist stopped by the set of her upcoming series with Jennifer Aniston, The Morning Show (Nov. 1). Her face still in her hands, Witherspoon continues in disbelief: “She sat at the monitor and watched me and Jen read the news!” The pair have come a long way since trading barbs at Central Perk.

The Morning Show — which marks Aniston’s major return to TV after Friends ended in 2004, and the pair’s first project together since Witherspoon guest-starred on the NBC comedy as Rachel’s spoiled little sister Jill in 2000 — takes viewers inside the world of daybreak news. “There’s something sort of bulletproof about morning shows,” Witherspoon says. “They’re a stalwart part of American culture.” After all, every day millions of Americans wake up and turn on the Today show, or any number of other programs, and are greeted by familiar faces they trust to deliver the news with just the right amount of personality. At least that’s the expectation. As you brew your morning coffee, they update you on the latest from the White House. As you pick out your clothes for the day, they let you know how the weather is looking. And as you prepare to head out the door, they amuse you with fun anecdotes about the internet’s buzziest viral video. “These shows are some of the last programming in the country that still tries to appeal in Los Angeles and New York and Des Moines and Mississippi,” says Morning Show executive producer Michael Ellenberg. “You have to introduce an idea of what America is that works for blue states and red states.” It was Ellenberg who brought the idea for The Morning Show to Witherspoon, whom he worked with on Big Little Lies, and Aniston in late 2016. (“I said to him, ‘I’m not completely closed down to television because it’s been pretty good,’” Aniston recalls.)
He can trace the idea back to 1989, when he saw Jane Pauley get replaced on Today. (It’s widely believed to be because she was “too old.” She was 39 at the time.) Then in 2012, Today’s veteran newsreader Ann Curry was reportedly driven off the program after less than a year as a cohost, a subject explored in journalist Brian Stelter’s 2013 book Top of the Morning, which Ellenberg quickly optioned. (Stelter is a consulting producer on the show, which uses his book mostly for background research.) “These are some of the most powerful women in America, and we watched them get screwed publicly, basically,” Ellenberg says. Witherspoon adds: “I was astounded by how honest a lot of female anchors were with myself and Jen. I think most people would find it shocking that women in that position, of what we perceive as power, are looked at as expendable.”

With Aniston, 50, and Witherspoon, 43, on board to star and executive-produce the series, it wasn’t hard to find The Morning Show a home. By August 2017, they’d met with Apple. Did we mention that Apple creates TV shows now? In March 2019, the tech powerhouse announced it was entering the streaming world. (Hey, all the cool kids are doing it!) Joining the relative elders — Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video — as well as the new class of streamers — HBO Max, Disney+, Facebook Watch, Snap Originals, Quibi, and too many more to count — Apple is launching Apple TV+, an app so shrouded in secrecy you’d think it was the nuclear codes…or the next iPhone. For instance, ahead of Tuesday’s 2019 keynote, Apple wouldn’t even confirm how much it will cost. (But the Apple execs do have jokes, promising to reveal how much it will cost if only a reporter would hand over her credit-card info.)

#RHOA: ‘Kim Called’ Nene Leakes Trashed for Wearing ‘Season 1’ Kim Zolciak Wig!
Nene Leakes had a quaint date night with husband Gregg Leakes at their home last week. But a photo she shared of herself with armpit length blond hair and an off-the-shoulder black and shimmery gown had fans talking for all the wrong reasons.
“A nite at Casa Leakes wit Mr Leakes πŸ·πŸΈ,” “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star captioned her Thursday, Sept. 5, Instagram post.
The image was shared on an “RHOA” fan account which raved of Nene, “SIS! #NeneLeakes is SNATCHED and bodied! πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ˜πŸ”₯ #RHOA.”

But followers in the comments section were not as delighted by what they saw, joaning on the longtime Bravolebrity’s wig, which they compared to frienemy Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s hair units — especially those the ex-“RHOA” star wore in early seasons. Detractors also dissed Nene for apparently editing the photo.
“When do we see Nene with darker wigs? πŸ€’
“When Nene gonna stop cosplaying as Kim Z?”
“Kim called she wants her season 1 wig back sis!”
“Snatched by photoshopping and facetuneπŸ’…πŸΎ
“Snatched where? please stop gassing her body shape…..embrace the fact that she is an ODDY BODY!!!”

It’s not the first time Nene has faced these kinds of criticisms. The star was previously compared to Zolciak in August when she shared with fans the new wig that made her declare, “my Wig game has totally changed!”

Fans were not impressed with the unit like Nene was, however, and railed against her in the comments by saying she was attempting to look like Zolciak.
“Kim Z did say you were trying hard to look like her. At the time I didn’t see it but yea…..”
“Wow never thought I’d see the day with Nene wearing Kim Zolciak wigs🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

“it looks good, but Kim Z always says you copy everything she has & now you have the same hair too πŸ€·πŸΌ‍♀️”
One remark led Nene to hit back and say, “You mad? Cry me a river b—hhhhhhh.”
But while the clapback was in full effect that time, she was silent when accused of editing her face on a picture that was snapped by her stylist Troi Anthony during an impromptu photo shoot that same month.

“All that airbrush but forgot the hands…😬
“Nice picture but it’s too much photoshopping or too much plastic surgery.”

Nice pic @neneleakes but way 2 much airbrush, so much can’t tell the difference between u and the carpet..”

#Empire: Jussie Smollett And His Sister Are Reportedly Trying To Get A Movie Deal About A Falsely Accused Brother And Sister!
According to a report from BET.com, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and her notorious brother, Jussie Smollett, were recently shopping around a movie with an interesting plot-line. Reportedly, the movie they’re pitching to studios is one about a wrongfully accused brother and his sister.

Reported first by Love B Scott, a source who spoke with the site claims the brother-sister combo is looking to find a director for the production. Moreover, the source claimed the movie might be based loosely on what has recently gone on in Jussie’s life, the faux-hate crime scandal, in which the Empire star has claimed he’s innocent.

As it was previously reported, the Empire star was all over the headlines this past year when he claimed he was a victim of a racially motivated attack in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. In January, Jussie supposedly hired two Nigerian-Americans to attack him in the street as a publicity stunt.
The police reported at the time that Jussie claimed to have been a victim of an attack, in which the men yelled slurs at him and allegedly poured bleach on him. Moreover, Jussie said one of the men tied a rope around his neck.

After further investigation from the police, the authorities quickly turned their attention over to Jussie, coming to the conclusion that he may have played a bigger role in the attack than initially suspected. Jussie was apparently unhappy with his Empire salary.
On the 16th of March, Jussie was charged with 16 counts of felony disorderly conduct for filing a police report. The police hit him with 16 counts in proportion to each lie he told to the police. Afterward, the charges were suddenly dropped.

However, things between Jussie and the City of Chicago have continued to ride on the edge, as the city is suing him for $130,000 in damages to pay for the police’s salary and man-hours. The Chicago police were furious due to the fact detectives had reportedly worked overtime for 1,836 hours in total.

#HipHopNews: G-Eazy Trends Because People Hate His Nfl Halftime Performance So Much
G-Eazy's set for the NFL's Genesis Halftime Show wasn't too well-received by a lot of fans.

During Monday Night Football (Sept. 9), Gerald appeared during halftime for both the Oakland Raiders versus the Denver Broncos and the Houston Texans versus the New Orleans Saints games to perform a pair of his most popular songs. The California rapper stood on top of a Hyundai Genesis as he kicked off his performance with "West Coast" then finished off with a clean rendition of "No Limit."
It didn't take long for the Internet to deliver their verdict on the performance, which went down weeks after the announcement of Jay-Z's partnership with the NFL. While some fans gave him props, others offered their own criticism about the pre-recorded set.

"It’s not a performance, one Twitter user said. "It’s a music video I honestly thought it was a Hyundai commercial tf lmao," tweeted another user.

G-Eazy's performance comes weeks after Jay-Z, Roc Nation and the NFL entered a partnership that puts Roc Nation in charge of live music entertainment during the NFL season. Since then, both Hov and the label have been the receiving end of some backlash especially after they announced Meghan Trainor as one of their new Inspire Change artists along with Rapsody and Meek Mill.

Check out more reactions to G-Eazy's Monday Night Football performance below.

Trump fires national security adviser John Bolton says 'His services are no longer needed'
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he had fired national security adviser John Bolton after a string of disagreements over how the U.S. should handle North Korea, Afghanistan and Iran.
Trump announced on Twitter that he had asked for Bolton's resignation on Monday night, saying he had "disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions."

“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning,” Trump said on Twitter.
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said that Trump had asked for Bolton's resignation on Monday night, and that it was delivered on Tuesday. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Trump and Bolton had not spoken on Tuesday.

Bolton himself said in a tweet that he had offered to resign Monday night, and that the president had said in response that they would "talk about it tomorrow."
“I offered to resign last night," Bolton told NBC News via text. "He never asked for it, directly or indirectly. I slept on it, and resigned this morning.” He denied reports that he and Trump had gotten into a heated argument Monday night over the president’s plan to host Taliban leaders at Camp David.

Some National Security Council officials were caught off guard by Bolton’s firing, learning about it only when it flashed on TV screens.
Reports over the weekend that Bolton and Vice President Mike Pence disagreed with Trump's plan to hold a Camp David meeting with Taliban leaders was the last straw for Bolton, according to two people familiar with the matter. On Monday, Pence tweeted that the stories were fake but Bolton did not — and that, according to the officials, upset Trump.

One person familiar with the breakdown between the two men said Trump didn’t want Bolton attending the U.N. General Assembly in New York with him later this month.

Asked if the disagreement over the Taliban talks led to Bolton’s dismissal, Grisham said “that there was no final straw."
"There were several issues," he said. "They had policy disagreements.”
But speaking on the condition of anonymity, one official said Afghanistan “broke open the bottom of the bag” in a relationship that had been eroding. Another official confirmed that sharp disagreement over the Afghanistan deal was the final issue that ruptured the relationship.

Bolton, known as a fierce infighter, had few allies and was clashing with both Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Most recently, the two had sparred over Trump's desire to have leaders of the Taliban visit Camp David in the days before the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to finalize peace talks. The idea was strongly opposed by Bolton, even as officials at the State Department argued it could move the parties closer to an agreement, officials said.

Bolton had been deeply skeptical of negotiations with the Taliban. U.S. negotiators have been working under the president’s demand that a drawdown occur before November 2020, when he’s up for re-election.
Trump: 'If it was up to [John Bolton], he'd take on the whole world'
Asked if he had been startled by Bolton's quick exit, Pompeo told reporters he had not. "I'm never surprised. And I don’t mean that on just this issue," he said.

Bolton’s departure could pave the way for a more flexible approach by the Trump administration on North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and Afghanistan, former U.S. officials and two current U.S. officials said.
Bolton had pushed Trump to take a harder line on other regimes he has deemed untrustworthy. Trump, on the other hand, campaigned on the promise to get the U.S. out of conflicts.

While Bolton had previously pushed for striking Iran in an effort at regime change, Trump has indicated he would like to sit down with Iranian officials, and that regime change is off the table; Pompeo confirmed Tuesday that the president is likely to speak with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani when the U.N. General Assembly meets in New York. "The president has made it very clear, he’s prepared to meet with no preconditions," said Pompeo.
Some officials in the administration had also grown frustrated with Bolton’s stance on Venezuela, in which he pushed for the imposition of harsh sanctions on the NicolΓ‘s Maduro regime and opposed renewing a waiver to allow the energy company Chevron to keep operating in the country.

When asked earlier about his differences with Bolton, Trump indicated he didn't have a problem with his national security adviser giving an opinion that diverged from his own.
"I have some hawks," the president said in a "Meet the Press" interview this summer. "Yeah, John Bolton is absolutely a hawk. If it was up to him he'd take on the whole world at one time, OK? But that doesn't matter, because I want both sides."
This is the third national security adviser that Trump will have to replace. His first, Michael Flynn, was in court for a status hearing on Tuesday before his sentencing for lying to U.S. officials. Flynn's successor, Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, said he was retiring after repeated disagreements with Trump.

Trump named Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and undersecretary of state for international security, to the post in a tweet in March 2018. At the time of his appointment, Bolton said in a Fox News interview that he was taken off guard.
Trump said Tuesday that he would name a new national security adviser next week. Gidley said Tuesday afternoon that deputy national security adviser Charlie Kupperman would replace Bolton as the acting national security adviser.
Hours before Trump announced his departure, Bolton sent a final public warning on Iran.

"Now that we're two weeks from #UNGA, you can be sure #Iran is working overtime on deception," Bolton wrote in a tweet. "Let's review the greatest hits, starting with the most recent. #Iran denied the Adrian Darya-1 was headed to #Syria, then confirmed today its oil was offloaded there. #IranWebOfLies"

Bobby Brown was Removed From Jet Blue Flight For Alleged Intoxication
Bobby Brown was removed from a Jet Blue flight on Monday morning after the R&B singer was accused of being intoxicated.

The flight was leaving LAX headed to Boston where Bobby was flying to attend his cousin’s funeral.
There was some type of altercation or misunderstanding in first class, where Bobby Brown was seated and the airline made the decision to remove everyone from the plane.

When Bobby deboarded the plane, police officers were waiting for him and they had questions.
The singer was understandably agitated considering the fact that he missed his flight and he was trying to get home to a funeral.
Passengers who were sitting near Bobby say the airline overreacted. While he may have been tipsy, he wasn’t causing any issues.
Jet Blue released a statement to TMZ saying Bobby Brown was “removed from the aircraft prior to departure after crewmembers observed indications of intoxication. The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly. In this instance, the customer was offered a seat on a later flight. The customer declined and was issued a refund.”

It’s unclear if Bobby was arrested or given a citation or a stern talking to.

#R&B Music group Xscape Says They’ll Do One Last Album ‘When Everybody’s Schedules Get Together’
We haven’t seen the last of Xscape. The girl group made waves when they reunited, and now, it looks like they have one more album in them. It’s all thanks to member Kandi Burruss’ mother, Mama Joyce.
She said the quartet was getting back together during the 2019 Black Music Honors awards in Atlanta earlier this month. Members Burruss, Tiny Harris, LaTocha and Tamika Scott were there to accept the Urban Music Icon Award.

But Mama Joyce is the one that sparked conversation when the moms were saluted during their acceptance speech. She said the ladies will put out another project.
“They still have one album left. The four of them, they started in my basement and I feel that they still have another album in them.”
Burruss later said she was caught off guard, but revealed they aren’t completely against it.

“Obviously she put us on the spot but, I mean. I guess we gon’ grant her her wish. I didn’t know what to say but at the same time, she put it out there, my group members are here … we gon’ make it happen … we gon’ figure it out.”

Harris also added, “Yeah, when everybody schedule get together we gon’ get in that studio.”
And Mama Joyce is standing by what she said. She added after her moment on stage,
“I feel like [Kandi] just need to get with them and they need to finish that one last album. They all got the voice. They voice is just as good if not better today than it was back 25 years ago.”

If it happens, this will be Xscape’s fourth studio album. Their debut album Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha was released in 1993 and featured their breakout single “Just Kickin’ It” and other hits like “Understanding.”

DJ Akademiks Says Nicki Minaj Threatened Him and His Family, Explains History Of Beef
Late Monday night, Complex’s own, DJ Akademiks took to Twitter to call out Nicki Minaj for her threats against him, as part of a longstanding beef between the two.
“Nicki Minaj just put a hit on me…if anything happens…or I miss a meal…SHE DID IT,” Akademiks wrote on Twitter, as fans flocked to his mentions for more tea. “Nicki hasn’t been able to put out a hit in years, you’ll be fine,” a user joked, as Akademiks agreed, but maintained that the issue was more serious than otherwise suspected.

“Broo…Thats true…No solo hit but still…This ain’t no Joke….i’m the last real nigga here…all these niggas get in line. I need life insurance,” he added.
The beef between the two seemingly stems from Akademiks’ comments and criticisms about Minaj’s music and tenure in the game. In fact, just a few weeks ago, Minaj addressed Joe Budden with similar sentiments, which stemmed from his time on Complex’s ‘Everyday Struggle.’
But now, the disagreement has seemingly escalated to violence after Minaj reportedly pulled up in Akademiks’ DMs.

“You gonna be in NY this coming week,” Minaj wrote on Friday, to which Ak replied, “Yup.” Three days later, Minaj reappeared, saying, “You been mad since I made a joke about u with Joe on my show. The people u rep won’t be able to stop ya jaw from getting broke.”
“I know too much about ur family for u to be playing with me u hoe ass rat. Where u at now,” she asked, to which Ak replied, “noted.”
As the two continued to exchange messages about Ak’s location, Minaj made mention about the blogger’s relationship with Tekashi69. “Exactly. Hoe. Still sad Tekashi ain’t here no more so u can try to get sneak feels on his booty. Don’t talk on a woman then run from a man. I’m glad it’s received rat. It won’t be the only thing you will recieve.”

“Sure . Don’t play the woman card on me. I criticized ur ex (meek) mad times while you were with him,” Akademiks responded. “I’ve criticized everyone. I’m petty like the best of em n so r u. I know. I know how to dish it n take it.”
As Ak continued to explain, Minaj demanded his address before she fired off even more allegations, saying, “Last time I was in the studio with 69 he told me he could tell that you were really hoping he was gay in real life and that you really tried to touch him in that pool.”
“The reason you mad is due to me and him being close before he went to jail. I didn’t mean to hang out with your ‘boyfriend in your head’ I only meant to do a dope song. Please post that part too Alvin & the Chipfunk. You got be hurt hurt.”

After the back and forth, Ak live streamed his reaction on Twitch and even shared screenshots of the message, which were met will allegations of photoshop, as barbs questioned the layout of the messages, which failed to include a video icon. But, in response, Ak shared a video of himself scrolling through the messages to prove the validity.
If that wasn’t enough, the blogger took to his Complex show to further explain the situation, saying, “Nicki is having a break down. She’s at the point where the shoe that nearly connected with her dome that was thrown by Cardi, got her out of wack.”

“She’s now threatening bloggers,” he said, as he explained his initial interaction with the superstar, in which he believed she was interested in meeting up for an interview. But, upon his response, Ak said she immediately hit him with static.
Although he was unaware where Minaj’s anger came from, he acknowledged that he’s been stating some “truths” about Minaj’s music, as of late. “Nicki Minaj solo songs are flopping, they are not good. I’ve said that she doesn’t make at this point good songs, she is still a phenomenal rapper,” he said, adding, “Also, every time you hear her bragging about these accolades, it’s someone else’s song.”
He also said that he said she’s “obsessed” with Cardi B, before he addressed Minaj’s allegations. “Nicki exposed me,” he said, being funny about his relationship about 69.

“I’ve never seen an artist being this bothered,” he said, as he criticized how she’s intimidating bloggers. But, in the meantime, he will be avoiding both Nicki and her husband, even though she reportedly reached out to a few people to talk afterwards.

The Weeknd Looks Unrecognizable Since the Bella Hadid Split!
Abel, is that you? The Weeknd made some major changes to his signature look after his split from Bella Hadid.
The three-time Grammy winner, 29, debuted his new (and much less angular) afro-like hairstyle while walking the red carpet at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 9, after the Uncut Gems premiere. He also shaved off his beard, leaving behind only a mustache.
The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) looked sharp in a navy blue suit with a white button-down shirt and brown leather shoes as he flashed a smile for the cameras.

“He look like Lionel Richie had a baby with el debarge,” one fan tweetedOpens a New Window.. Other Twitter users jokingly changed the artist’s name to The Weekday in honor of his new look.
The film festival marked The Weeknd’s first red carpet appearance since Us Weekly confirmed in early August that he and Hadid, 22, had called it quits for the second time.
The former couple met in April 2015 when the model posed for the cover artwork of the entertainer’s breakout album, Beauty Behind the Madness. Us broke the news of their relationship a month later.

The Weeknd and Hadid’s first breakup made headlines in November 2016, with a source telling Us, “They still have a great deal of love and respect for each other and will remain friends, but it has been too hard to coordinate their schedules. … They really tried to make it work.”
During their time apart, the Toronto native dated Selena Gomez for nearly 10 months in 2017. He rekindled his romance with Hadid in April 2018, and they moved in together later that year.

After breaking up, The Weeknd and Hadid were spotted at the same nightclub, Catch One in Los Angeles, on August 15. However, she left with her friends less than 10 minutes after his arrival.

Apple Rolls Out New iPhone 11 Pro, With Filmmakers And Photographers In Focus
Apple today introduced the first iPhone ever to bear the name “Pro,” a new model designed for high-end users, notably filmmakers and photographers.
The new iPhone 11 Pro will cost $999 and the “Max” edition of it is $1,099. They will accompany a more basic iPhone 11, which retails at $699.

Apple has previously only made desktops and laptops under the “Pro” moniker. Many film industry vets have used the Pro equipment and apps like Final Cut Pro to make films (David Fincher and the Coen Bros. were among early champions), though its popularity in pro circles has waned a bit in recent years.
Timed to the September 20 on-sale date of the phones, the company will re-open its flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue. The site across from the Plaza Hotel has been doubled in size and redesigned.
The new devices were shown off at the end of a nearly two-hour Apple product event in Cupertino, which featured news like the $4.99-a-month price point and November 1 launch of Apple TV+.

In order to highlight the capabilities of the Pro phone, the tech giant played a short black-and-white sequence shot on a sound stage by director Diego Contreras and cinematographer Guillermo Garza. It also brought onstage director Sean Baker, who had a breakout in 2017 with Oscar nominee The Florida Project and shot his earlier feature, Tangerine, entirely on an iPhone.
Baker touted the imminent launch of an updated version of Filmic Pro, which is designed to offer filmmakers a range of options when using devices like the iPhone.

“I’m always excited when I see new evolutions in the craft,” Baker said, adding that the new tools’ main contribution will be “reducing the number of takes and giving me more options in post.”
The phone features three cameras – wide, telephoto and ultra-wide. It shoots video in 4K in 60 frames per second and enables multiple shots to be generated from a single vantage point. The design of the back of the phone, with its distinctive three lenses, elicited howls in some corners of social media. “Steve Jobs” became a trending topic on Twitter because of some Apple fans’ conviction that the late Apple maestro would abhor the new look.

Steven Soderbergh is among the other established filmmakers who have been drawn to iPhone filmmaking, capturing features such as this year’s Netflix feature High-Flying Bird entirely on the device.
