#RHOA: Kandi Burruss HBIC? Well Kenya Moore thinks so. But NeNe’s fans arent having it!
Kandi Burruss excitedly shared a promo image of herself at the Atlanta airport over the weekend, but a comment from her pal Kenya Moore quickly shifted the attention away from the singer.

“A lot of people are traveling this weekend. If you fly through Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport catch me on the airport screens. I was so excited when they chose me to be one of the people to represent Atlanta. I love my city! Glad to know that my city loves me back. ❤️❤️❤️❤️” Burruss wrote on Instagram Saturday, July 6.

Burruss now serves as one of the celebrity Atlanta ambassadors whose signage hangs over the west crossover board at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The honor had fans eagerly piling on the praise.
“Goo Kandi represent the Atlanta πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—”
“Yes we love you my #1Fan.”
“Just saw it yesterday! Congrats!”
“Congratulations kandi doing our city well! Representing.”

Then, Burruss’ “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Moore stepped in to give her props by commenting, “#HBIC 😘,” which means “head b—- in charge.”

The remark drew nearly 50 replies from fans who took it as shade toward Nene Leakes, who famously touts herself as the HBIC of “RHOA.”

“@thekenyamoore I actually love @kandi in REAL LIFE tho but for done reason I think that this is shade towards @neneleakes and I also live NeNe too soo really you just sound miserable on the lowπŸ‘ŠπŸ½ go at @evamarcille or something 🀭oopsπŸ₯΄πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£”
“@thekenyamoore πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚kenya shade aff, but truly the one with the highest coins is the HBIC , and thats @kandi.”
“@thekenyamoore The real #HBIC contrary to ‘White Tee’ beliefs. ❣️”

Meanwhile, Burruss seemed to enjoy Moore’s remark as she commented “@thekenyamoore PERIODT❤️πŸ₯°” and “@thekenyamoore 🀣 ❤️”
The last time Leakes reminded fans of her place in “RHOA” was in May when she uploaded a photo of her posing by the pool in an all-black outfit and matching Louboutin pumps.

And while many fans backed up Leakes’ title, others called her out for how she openly dissed her “RHOA” co-stars — whom she deems her “co-workers” and unfollowed them on Instagram back in March.
“Attitude still stinks though,” said one commenter. It prompted a response from Leakes that let them know she still considers herself to be the one.

“But i got u commenting on my page! Like I said, Head Bitch In Charge,” she responded.

#MusicNews: R&B Singer Syleena Johnson Announces New Label Deal With eOne Nashville
Congratulations are in order for veteran singer Syleena Johnson who has just announced she’s signed a new label deal with Entertainment One Nashville.
In a time when many of her peers who came out around the same time have mostly fallen off of the radar of record labels, Syleena continues to remain at the top of her game. She currently serves as a host on the daily talk show Sister Circle TV.

The news comes during a time when Syleena has been working towards the release of her ninth studio album “Woman” which she announced earlier this year. The title track and first single was released a few months back. It included a powerful and impactful video.

Her albums over the past few years have released via Shanachie and also eOne. The latest was “Rebirth of Soul” in 2017.

#HipHopNews: Kodak Black Shares First Photo From Prison
Despite being locked up, Kodak Black appears to be in good spirits. The “Tunnel Vision” rapper returned to social media to share a new photo of himself from behind bars. He looks more or less the same as he did when he entered in May, smiling as he crouches in his prison uniform.

He captioned the photo: “The Streets Thin Na Cuz Everybody Gettin Hung .. Lawyers Sittin Back Suckin All A Ni*** Funds.” His attorney, Bradford Cohen, tells TMZ that the caption references old lyrics is not a shot at his defense team.
Kodak remains behind bars after being arrested on weapons charges in May for allegedly making false statements on gun applications. The 22-year-old MC was denied bond and will remain in a Florida jail cell at least until September when his trial gets underway.

He requested to be released on bail while under strict supervision, so he could travel to South Carolina and deal with his sexual assault case from 2016. However, the court ruled in the prosecution’s favor, saying he’s a danger to the community and shouldn’t be released before trial.

#TRAGIC! 17-Year-Old Elijah El Amin Was Killed for Listening to Rap Music!
A black 17-year-old named Elijah el Amin was killed at a gas station on July 4, The Arizona Republic reported, and a 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the killing soon after. A review of police records published by the Republic on July 5 detailed that the suspect said the unprovoked stabbing with a pocketknife occurred because the suspect felt “unsafe” because the teen was listening to rap music.

According to the Republic, the suspect told police that he views people who listen to rap as a threat to him and his community. He reportedly described his attack as a “proactive” step to deal with the perceived threat.

On July 8, Twitter users employed the hashtag #JusticeforElijah to draw attention to the case, which has been compared to the murder of black 17-year-old Jordan Davis in what was called a “loud music” dispute. In an interview with local news station KTVK, Elijah's friend and former Taco Bell co-worker Areanna Ivery said her friend was passionate about his music.

“He talked about rap music all the time. He loved rap artists,” Areanna told KTVK. “He just always said that rap artists spoke to him, and that it just gave him a sense of purpose in a way that he went through a lot of things that they went through, too.”

“He had a lot of dreams that he told me about, that he really wanted,” Areanna said. “I just wish, like, if I could talk to him one more time, I’d be like, ‘Dude, go follow those dreams that you want to do.’ Everybody deserves that.”
“He wanted to be [in] hotel management, he wanted to move to Seattle, he wanted to move different places,” Elijah's dad said of his son’s dreams in an interview with NBC affiliate 12 News. “He was a good kid, a very good kid. Always wanted to help kids or help people in general.”

“He was just a clown, kind of like just always being happy-go-lucky,” his father said later in the interview. He described waiting up on the night of the attack for his son to return home from a planned visit to his girlfriend’s house, watching the hours pass by. Elijah’s father also indicated that the gas station has surveillance video of the incident.

Kirsten Clarke, the president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, wrote on Twitter that the Department of Justice should investigate the killing as a hate crime.

OH NO! Sarah Paulson Won’t Star on ‘American Horror Story: 1984’
Sarah Paulson will not star on the upcoming ninth season of “American Horror Story,” titled “American Horror Story: 1984,”  The “AHS” alum has appeared on every previous season of the Ryan Murphy-created FX anthology series, usually in a leading role. For Season 8, titled “AHS: Apocalypse,” she played a total of three roles and also directed an episode. The only previous season in which Paulson did not have a significant part was the first, “Murder House.” She has been nominated for five Emmys for her roles on the series.
It is currently unclear if Paulson — who is currently filming Murphy’s upcoming Netflix series “Ratched,” in which she has the lead role — will appear on Season 9, set to premiere Sept. 18, at all and in what role.

FX, 20th Century Fox Television, and representatives for Paulson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In classic “AHS” fashion, we don’t know much about “1984,” with the only confirmed cast members being returning “AHS” star Emma Roberts and Olympic medalist Gus Kenworthy, a newcomer to the franchise who is playing her boyfriend. And now the news that Paulson will not be starring, of course.

“I will tell you nothing, except that I think it’s awesome,” executive producer Tim Minear told TheWrap last month. “I think it’s gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat.”
When we asked if the decision to do a slasher-themed season was related to that particular brand of horror’s recent resurgence, thanks to movies like last year’s “Halloween” sequel and 2017’s “Happy Death Day,” Minear said probably not.

“Generally, Ryan [Murphy] is ahead of the zeitgeist as opposed to following it,” he told us. “So what I would say is that this has been an area that Ryan has talked about since I’ve known him and it’s just a real sweet spot for him. And I think it was time for him to do it.”

Variety first reported Paulson will not star on “AHS: 1984.” “American Horror Story: 1984”: Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 10/9c.

Diddy Considering ‘Making The Band’ Reboot – But do We Really Want It?
Diddy took to social media on Monday to reveal MTV has approached him with the idea of rebooting “Making The Band.”
MTB was a reality TV competition where singers and rappers competed for a chance to be a part of a super group that would be signed to Bad Boy Records.
The show is responsible for giving us acts like O-Town, Da Band, Danity Kane, Day26, and Donnie Klang.

Puff expressed some concern over hopefuls not being able to handle his technique for molding and shaping superstars. Then, there’s his hectic schedule to consider.
So, he’s turning to the public to see if there is any real interest in the show returning.

I’m sure Day 26, Da Band, and Danity Kane would advise everyone to stay far away from this show.

But, what do you think?

#WINNING! Colin Kaepernick Sends Nike's Stock SOARING After It Pulled "Betsy Ross Flag" Sneaker
Shares of Nike are rising after former NFL star and activist Colin Kaepernick convinced the company to pull its “Air Max 1 USA” sneakers from store shelves. Kaepernick’s concern over the shoe’s “Betsy Ross Flag” designs connection to an era of slavery resonated with investors, as Nike has seen a 2% stock increase and added nearly $3 billion in market value since cancelling the kicks.

The Breakdown You Need to Know
Nike’s intentions were good as the “Air Max 1 USA” was created in celebration of the July Fourth holiday for $140, however the design was ill advised. Kapernick noted the early American flag with a circle of 13 stars was offensive due to its alleged association with extremist organizations, according to the Wall Street Journal. The flag was originally designed by Betsy Ross during the American Revolution and was in use from 1777 to 1795 to represent the 13 original slave owning colonies.

Playing the long game with Kaepernick seems to be fruitful for the company amidst earlier short term stock market pain CultureBanx reported. Let’s look at the big picture, Kaepernick has been on Nike’s endorsement roster since 2011, but hadn’t been featured in one of their ads in two years before appearing in September 2018. The company received more than $43 million worth of media exposure from the ad, according to Apex Marketing Group.

Social Stock
Social issues and a brand’s bottom line go hand in hand for millennials. A total of 15,191 investors on Robinhood added Nike to their portfolios when Kaepernick’s ad was released, according to Business Insider. Additionally, Nielsen reported 38% of African Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 and 41% of those aged 35 or older said they expect the brands they buy to support social causes.

If we dig deeper into how the sportswear brand has performed, Nike boosted revenues by 4% to just over $10 billion. but missed analyst estimates for earnings. However, the maker of Air Force 1 sneakers missed analyst estimates for earnings in its fiscal Q4. North America sales were up 8% to $4.17 billion in the region which accounts for nearly 40% of the company’s revenues.

Wendy Williams is dating a 50-something doctor
Wendy Williams is dating a new man, but it’s not the convicted felon she’s been spotted out with this summer.
Although Williams was seen around Los Angeles and New York City with 27-year-old Marc Tomblin, Williams told fans during Monday’s show that she’s moved on to a doctor in his 50s.
“I’m not on the market anymore. I’m not in love. I don’t know how I’m doing. I’m not in love but there’s somebody that I’m crazy about,” she said, holding back tears. “It’s not who you think. OK? Mother doesn’t deal with children, but it just so happens that I guess with my charm and wit, I attract people of all ages.”
Williams added, “27-year-old boys, quite frankly, find me attractive. I get it, but when it comes time for the comfort of a man, I need someone in his 50s, too, and he’s gotta work. It helps that he’s a doctor. He’s been married. His kids are in their 20s, and yes, he’s black. He’s brown-black.”

The daytime talk show host, 54, addressed her dalliance with Tomblin, who she claimed is just a friend.
“He’s from LA. He came to New York. He had never been to New York before,” she said. “Skyscrapers and everything. I’m a hand holder. If we go out, I’m holding your hand.”
Williams also took time to vaguely address the ongoing drama with her family, from her divorce from Kevin Hunter to her son’s alleged assault on his dad.
“My family is doing fine,” she said, referring to a tabloid cover that said her family was falling apart. “I’m doing fine.”

Her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., is set to appear in court again Tuesday to address the alleged assault against his father.
Though she assured the public that she was doing “fine,” she said numerous times throughout the episode that she traveled to Idaho and Arizona to gather her thoughts.
“I was just a woman relaxing and gathering my thoughts,” she said of her time in Idaho. “I had my books, my thoughts, but mostly gathering my life for me, my son and my family.”
She didn’t say if it was a sober-living facility like the one she stayed at earlier this year to address her relapse.

Of her time in Scottsdale, Arizona, she said, “[I went] to gather myself.”

Serena Williams fined $10,000 for damaging Wimbledon court during practice
Serena Williams may have hit the practice courts a little too hard prior to the start of Wimbledon. Williams was fined $10,000 on Monday for damaging a court during practice before the event started, according to the Associated Press.
Details are scarce regarding the incident. The AP report does not mention how the court was damaged, it only mentions that the 37-year-old Williams was fined $10,000 by the All England Club.

That was the largest fine handed out by the All England Club on Monday. Fabio Forgnini received a $3,000 fine for saying he wished a bomb would hit Wimbledon after his loss. Nick Kyrgios was hit with two fines, totaling $8,000, for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Williams’ fine comes a day before she will face off against Alison Riske in the quarterfinal. Williams is seeking her eighth women’s singles title at Wimbledon.

Kim Kardashian talks tight Met Gala corset, 'innocent intentions' for her own shapewear brand
For fashion mogul Kim Kardashian, beauty sometimes hurts.
In a WSJ Magazine story published Monday, the reality star described the agony of fitting into her waist-cinching corset for this year's Met Gala — as well as the controversy surrounding her own shapewear line.
Kardashian donned a Thierry Mugler dress made of silk organza, crystals and silicone to the May Met Gala, describing her look to E! as "California girl, stepping out of the ocean onto the red carpet, wet and dripping."
Underneath, however, a punishing Mr Pearl corset wrapped her waist. The corset was so tight, Kardashian said she found marks on her torso after the gala was over.

“I have never felt pain like that in my life,” she said.
“I’ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off — the indentations on my back and my stomach," she told WSJ Magazine.
Kardashian's tiny waist at the gala had fans speculating whether she had ribs removed to squeeze into the corset. Although she admitted on Instagram to breathing lessons from the corset's designer in preparation for the event, Kardashian swore she still has all her ribs.

“I don’t even know if that’s possible," she said.
Although her own shapewear line has stirred controversy, Kardashian promises the pieces will at least be less painful than the corset she wore.
"The feeling when I had to wear that corset, (the shapewear) is not that," she said. "It’s the second skin that makes me feel comfortable and cozy and all smoothed.”

Kardashian also restated her promise to rename her shapewear line, originally called Kimono Solutionwear, after the first title drew accusations of cultural appropriation.
“You would think we would have obviously thought it through a little bit deeper,” she told WSJ Magazine. “I’m the first person to say, OK, of course, I can’t believe we didn’t think of this. I obviously had really innocent intentions. But, let’s listen. And I want to really listen. And I want to really take it all in.”

Cameron Boyce's Cause of Death Under "Further Investigation" as Autopsy Is Completed
Family, friends and fans are in mourning following the death of Cameron Boyce.

The beloved Disney Channel star, who appeared in all of the Descendants films as well as TV series Jessie, passed away on Saturday, July 6. He was 20. According to a press release, published Monday, Cameron was found unresponsive in his home in North Hollywood, Calif., in the early afternoon of July 6. Authorities were called and Cameron was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 p.m.

An autopsy was performed on Monday and a cause of death was deferred pending "further investigation."

"It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron," the actor's family said in a statement to E! News over the weekend, confirming his death. "He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated."
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him," the family's statement continued. "We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother."

In the days following his passing, many of Cameron's friends and former co-stars have paid tribute to the star.
"Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around," Adam Sandler, who played Cameron's dad in the Grown Ups movies, wrote on Instagram. "Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.‬"

On July 7, Cameron's father, Victor Boyce, thanked everyone for their support.
"I'm overwhelmed with the love and support our family has received," Victor tweeted. "It really does help to ease the pain of this nightmare I can't wake up from. I can't thank you guys enough."

Our thoughts are with Cameron's loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

Ashley Darby has officially welcomed her son into the world! On Sunday, July 7, the Real Housewives of Potomac star, 31, gave birth to her first child with husband Michael Darby — son Dean Michael Darby.

“Michael and I are overwhelmed with joy and love,” Ashley told PEOPLE exclusively of her son, who weighed in at 8 lbs., 1 oz. “Dean is absolutely perfect. We couldn’t be happier.”

Prior, Ashley announced the news of her new baby on Instagram. “I never thought this day would come. When I learned I was pregnant, I started thinking about when I’d feel the first kicks,” the new mom wrote, captioning a photo of herself and Michael in the hospital, he holding baby Dean.
“Then, when I was feeling the flutters, I wanted to know when I’d finally start to show. After watching the bump grow, my mind went to birthing day (WILL THIS REALLY HAPPEN?!) AfroFuture Fest in Detroit changes ticket pricing after backlash over 'non-POC' fee
A Detroit music festival is changing its ticket pricing system after organizers say they were harassed by white supremacists and racist comments.

When AfroFuture Fest, an August Afrocentric music and art festival, opened ticket sales, organizers were charging "early bird" people of color $10 and “non-POC” $20, with other tickets as high as $40 on Eventbrite.
Last weekend, after the event was widely publicized and debated across social media, the national attention prompted organizers to change the pricing to $20 for all attendees.

Organizers originally posted the event with an explanation: The prices were based on the idea of equitable access to festivals, which they said are often cost-prohibitive and do not benefit the black communities that host them.
“Events often designed for marginalized Black and Brown communities can be easily co-opted by those with cultural, monetary, and class privileges,” organizer Numi Ori wrote on Facebook. “Our goal is to ensure that the youth of our communities can participate in the building of a just society; one that promotes EQUITY over EQUALITY.[sic]”

While organizers said they intended to make the festival more accessible, the doubled price for white festivalgoers sparked pushback from performers as well.
Tiny Jag, a Detroit-based rapper who is biracial, was slated to perform at the festival, but pulled out of the lineup in a Twitter announcement, writing the pricing system “does not reflect the views of myself or the Tiny Jag team.”

Social media accounts like The Shade Room reposted the festival pricing, prompting thousands of replies. Some called the system racist, while others pointed out white privilege as a factor in the ticket scale. One commenter wrote: “Like 1950s racism in 2020. No bueno,” receiving thousands of likes.
The event’s hosting site Eventbrite threatened to take the festival’s page down if organizers did not change the pricing, which Eventbrite told CNN violated its policies. "In this case, we have notified the creator of the event about this violation and requested that they alter their event accordingly," their statement read.
Eventbrite did not immediately respond to request for comment from the Free Press.
In a Monday post, Ori wrote that she and fellow organizer Franchesca Lamarre were changing the pricing system because of racist harassment. “There is no other reason why. This was for the sake of safety,” she wrote.
“I don’t feel not one ounce of sadness or regret about Franchesca Lamarre and I’s choice for creating this ticket structure,” Ori wrote in a July 5 Facebook post. “...Don’t comment on here about what we could have done differently with the structure. We did what we did and equity matters.”

Artists slated to perform at AfroFuture Fest include Curtis Roach, Pri$m and White Buffs on the Astral Plane.
