The Daily Buzz For July 15 ☕πŸ“°☕

Ariana Grande Is On The Cover Of Vogue for August 2019
Ariana Grande has officially caught Anna Wintour's eye. The "God Is A Woman" singer is on the cover of Vogue for the first time ever. On the cover, Grande traded her signature ponytail for a huge summer hat and poses with her dog, Toulouse. Inside the issue, the 26-year-old opens up about her personal style, which is polarizing to say the least.

“She’s like an R-rated version of a Disney character, super-vivid,” her close friend and frequent collaborator Pharrell Williams tells Vogue. “But she’s full of self-awareness. That meta-cognition is part of her personality.” Indeed Grande knows that the Internet has thoughts about her usual outfit combo of lampshade dresses and over-the-knee-boots, but she says she doesn't care because it works.
She likens it to dressing in character. "I like having my funny character that I play,” she says, “that feels like this exaggerated version of myself. It protects me. But also I love disrupting it for the sake of my fans and making clear that I’m a person—because that’s something I enjoy fighting for. I can’t help disrupt it." She describes herself as "incredibly impulsive and passionate and emotional and just reckless."

What's more, she says, is that her style has taken on a life of its own. "The music is very personal and very real, but yes, if you can be me for Halloween, if drag queens can dress up as me, then I’m a character," she tells Vogue. "Go to your local drag bar, and you’ll see it. That’s, like, the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It’s better than winning a Grammy.”
Coincidently, when Grande won a Grammy in February, she wore a custom Zac Posen gown, having staged a mini photoshoot in the dress for her 144 million-plus followers on Instagram, showing off her diamond choker and hitting all the angles. Her dog plopped himself on her gown then, too.

#RHOA: Phaedra Parks is throwing MAJOR SHADE at Kandi Burruss! She Says She Is Amused That She ‘Really Impacted Her Life!’
The claws are out! Phaedra Parks has a lot to say about her rumored return to Real Housewives of Atlanta and even shaded her frenemy Kandi Burruss in the process.
It seems like just months after Phaedra was fired from the Bravo hit there has been speculation about her possibly coming back. This has been at an all-time high considering that there are things happening in Phaedra’s life that would make for great TV.
Between Nene Leakes being on the outs with nearly every co-star and vocalizing that she’d love if the attorney signed on again, to Phaedra’s exciting new dating life, and Apollo Nida’s sticky prison release — there is far from a lack of a storyline.

Unfortunately, there is one person who is adamant that Phaedra should not be allowed to return and that’s Kandi Burruss. The two had a serious falling out when it was revealed that Phaedra was behind the scandalous rumor that Kandi and Todd Tucker were plotting to drug and sexually assault Porsha Williams.

The mother of two spoke with Daily Mail about if she would come back to RHOA or not and why she is amused by Kandi.
Although she doesn’t regret her time on the show she felt she was ‘a character that they’re manipulating for their own benefit.’
‘It is what it is. Reality shows are not real. They’re for entertainment at everyone else’s expense, except the people that make it, so you can’t regret anything. You just have to accept what it is and keep it moving.’

In response to Kandi threatening to leave if she did return, the 45-year-old responded: ‘I find it amusing, because if she is that concerned about me three years later, I must have really impacted her life. So I’m glad I touched her like that.’
As for now, she has not been in talks with Bravo but she will be coming back to the small screen where fans will get to see her in a different light!

#Empire: Flashback Season 5 Episode 4 Lucious Talks Andre Down
Season 5 of Empire was especially tough for Andre (Trai Byers). Not only did he spend time in prison, but he was also diagnosed with cancer. In this flashback video, Lucious (Terrence Howard) tries to talk Andre off a ledge — well not literally.

“Now I know that you went in there and you learned a few things. But somehow along the way, when they took your name and gave you a number, you’ve forgotten your value to me, to this business, to this family,” Lucious says.

#HipHopNews: After being ridiculed for his Female rappers "Strippers Rapping" Controversy Jermaine Dupri Launches So So Def Female Cypher!
Jermaine Dupri infuriated several female rappers when he equated them to “strippers rapping” during a recent interview with People Magazine — including Cardi B.
Following the backlash, the So So Def mastermind announced a new So So Def Female Cypher. He made the reveal on Friday (July 12) via Instagram.

“After all the calls, DMs, angry tweets and other messages saying ‘I am a major gatekeeper in the hip hop world, why don’t I invest in a female who is out here hustling and making a name for herself?’ I decided to create the #SoSoDefFemalecypher,” he captioned the image. “details coming soon.”
Dupri originally stated he feels current female rappers only rap about one topic — sex.
“They all rapping about the same thing,” he said. “I don’t think they’re showing us who is the best rapper. For me, it’s like strippers rapping. As far as rap goes, I’m not getting ‘who is the best rapper.’ I’m getting, like, you got a story about you dancing in the club, YOU got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story…OK. Who’s gonna be the rapper?”

Naturally, Twitter is divided. Dupri’s comments on female artists were deemed invalid by the countless people who quickly reminded social media Dupri once said BeyoncΓ© wouldn’t last.
But of course, there are plenty of people who also think Dupri has a point. Others are calling it a PR stunt intended to get his cypher off the ground.

Ed Sheeran confirms he's married to Cherry Seaborn
Ed Sheeran has revealed that he's a married man. The British singer-songwriter confirmed he wed his childhood friend, Cherry Seaborn, in an interview with iHeartRadio's Charlamagne Tha God about his new collaboration album.
Sheeran said the two had tied the knot while discussing the lyrics of his new song with Eminem and 50 Cent, "Remember My Name," in which he calls Seaborn his "wife."
"Watch how the lyrics in the songs might get twisted / My wife wears red, but looks better without the lipstick," the lyrics go.
Sheeran said he had written those lyrics before he and Seaborn made their marriage official.

"It was actually before me and Cherry got married, and I knew that we'd be married by the point that the song came out," Sheeran said. "Someone's gonna hear that and be like, 'Oh, they're married!' I didn't know how that would be construed, but obviously it's already come out."
The 28-year-old announced that he and Seaborn were engaged in January 2018.

The two have known each other since they were children, but they didn't start dating until Sheeran invited her to Taylor Swift's Fourth of July part in 2015, the singer told People Magazine.

R. Kelly faces federal charges that carry harsh potential sentences
The singer R. Kelly is facing new and unprecedented legal jeopardy after federal prosecutors in New York and Illinois charged him with a wide slate of criminal counts, including racketeering and production of child pornography.

Though the singer already faces lengthy state charges in Illinois, the sweeping new federal indictments carry potential sentences that could ensure Kelly spends most of or all of his life in prison.
“His life is on the line now,” said Lou Shapiro, a state and federal criminal law attorney in Los Angeles. “There are mandatory sentencing minimums in the federal arena; that’s why this is so dangerous.”

Late Thursday, Kelly was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges. He had been free on $1 million bond from state charges filed earlier this year, but is now being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. Usually, an offender facing federal charges could be allowed to remain free before trial, but Shapiro said, “I think he’ll be kept in. Ordinarily, he would be released, but the charges are so egregious, and he has every reason to flee.”
Kelly, 52, will face those charges in both Brooklyn and Chicago courts, where the allegations depict an organized effort from him and his business and personal associates to recruit and transport underage girls over state lines for illegal sexual purposes, including the production of child pornography, and to coerce them from testifying against him.
In Brooklyn, federal prosecutors indicted Kelly on five counts, including a racketeering charge and four violations of the Mann Act (which prohibits crossing state lines for illegal sexual purposes).

“It goes without saying that with the new federal charges, R. Kelly is not in a position that would cause any envy,” said Lara Yeretsian, a criminal defense attorney and founder of Yeretsian Law in Glendale. “He is facing up to 20 years for each racketeering count, while the Mann Act violations each have at least 15 to 21 months for each count. This doesn’t even include the decades he is facing in Chicago.”
The racketeering charge alleges that Kelly committed sex crimes as part of an organized scheme that operated under threat of intimidation. Racketeering, a charge most often associated with organized crime, carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years.
Meanwhile, The girlfriends of R. Kelly not only lost their famous boyfriend, they also lost his luxurious amenities after they were evicted from his residence following the federal indictment.
Sources close to Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary tell The Blast they were booted out of the Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago and the residence has been taken over by federal officials.

The "I Believe I Can Fly" singer was walking his dog near Trump Tower when he was arrested, and the doors were promptly locked from the girls, who were forced to find temporary living arrangements.
The family of Joycelyn Savage had traveled to Chicago in hopes of reuniting with their daughter. Joycelyn's father, Timothy, even confronted Kelly's publicist during a press conference.
Gerald Griggs, attorney for the Savage family, tells The Blast that Joycelyn's mother, Jonjelyn, has discovered where her daughter is staying and is currently working on keeping "consistent contact" while trying to arrange a meeting.

We're told the Savage family is "ready to reunite" with their daughter and let "whatever happened in the past" to be over.

#HEARTBREAKING: Sadie Roberts-Joseph, founder of an African American history museum, is found dead in the trunk of a car
A beloved activist and founder of an African-American museum in Baton Rouge was found dead in the trunk of a car, CNN affiliate WBRZ reported.
The body of Sadie Roberts-Joseph, 75, was located Friday but it wasn’t immediately clear what led officers to the car. The cause of her death is still unknown, police told the station.
The vehicle was about 3 miles from her home, CNN affiliate WAFB reported.

Roberts-Joseph was a renowned advocate in the Baton Rouge area. She founded the Odell S. Williams Now and Then African American Museum in 2001, where she had been hosting the city’s Juneteenth celebration for years.
“Ms. Sadie was a tireless advocate of peace in the community,” the police department said in a statement. “Ms. Sadie is a treasure to our community, she will be missed by BRPD and her loss will be felt in the community she served.
She also founded Community Against Drugs and Violence, a non-profit organization focused in creating a safer environment for children in North Baton Rouge.
Local politicians, advocates and community members on Saturday mourned Roberts-Joseph’s death.

State Representative C. Denise Marcelle said in a Facebook post that the activist “never bothered anyone” and was looking to expand her museum.
The NAACP Baton Rouge Branch remembered Roberts-Joseph in a Facebook post.
“We lost a Cultural Legend Yesterday! #RIP Sadie Roberts Joseph,” the group wrote. “From reviving Juneteenth, to the Culture preserved at Her Museum, she was a trendsetter and icon in this City.”

Police investigating the activist’s death urged anyone with information about the case to call police detectives at 225-389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).

#LGBTQNEWS: New Republic magazine pulls down homophobic op-ed about Pete Buttigieg by Dale Peck!
The New Republic has retracted a vulgar and homophobic op-ed about Pete Buttigieg by openly gay literary critic Dale Peck.
The magazine had published the piece, titled “My Mayor Pete Problem,” on its website on Friday.
In the piece, Peck described Buttigieg as “the gay equivalent of Uncle Tom,” and he referred to the presidential candidate as “Mary Pete” throughout the column.
Peck argued that because Buttigieg waited until his early 30s to come out as gay, he would be too preoccupied with sex and drugs to be an effective president. The piece also crudely speculated about intimate details of Buttigieg’s personal life.

Almost immediately, social media erupted in widespread condemnation.
Hours later the op-ed was taken down and replaced by an editor’s note saying: “Dale Peck’s post ‘My Mayor Pete Problem’ has been removed from the site, in response to criticism of the piece’s inappropriate and invasive content. We regret its publication.”

#BoxOfficeNews: 'Spider-Man: Far from Home' Remains at #1, Toy Story 4 is at #2 ,Crawl is #3 and Stuber is $4!
It was a repeat weekend for last week's top two films as Sony's Spider-Man: Far from Home topped the weekend while nearing $850 million globally and Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 4 found itself in the runner-up position while becoming the fifth largest Pixar release domestically ever. As for the weekend's new wide releases, both played mostly to expectations with Paramount's Crawl finishing in third and Disney's release of Fox's Stuber landing in fourth.

Sony's Spider-Man: Far from Home delivered a repeat performance atop the weekend box office, bringing in an estimated $45.3 million, signaling a -51% drop as its domestic cume now stands just shy of $275 million. Far from Home's $572.5 million international haul now makes it the highest grossing Spider-Man movie internationally, topping Spider-Man 3's $555 million overseas total. The final key market where the film has yet to release is Germany where it will open on August 15.

In third we come to the first of the weekend's two new wide releases in Paramount's R-rated alligator thriller Crawl, which debuted just shy of Mojo's pre-weekend forecast with an estimated $12 million. The performance tops our pre-weekend comp 47 Meters Down, which opened with $11.2 million back in June 2017 before finishing with over $44 million domestically and has a sequel set to hit theaters next month.

Crawl received a "B" CinemaScore from opening day audiences and played to a crowd that was 51% male. Additionally, 64% of the opening weekend audience was aged 25 or older.
Internationally, Crawl debuted in 20 markets and brought in an estimated $4.8 million with Malaysia's $1 million opening leading the way. The film also added another $7.8 million internationally from 42 markets currently in play, pushing the overseas cume over $32 million for a global tally that now stands at $80.5 million.

Kelly Clarkson Suggests Taylor Swift Re-Record Songs Amid Master Recordings Debacle!
Kelly Clarkson is sending some advice to Taylor Swift.
The 37-year-old entertainer took to Twitter on Saturday (July 13) to suggest that the 29-year-old “ME!” singer re-record her songs after it was revealed that Scooter Braun had purchased her master recordings, seemingly without her knowledge.

“@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I’d buy all of the new versions just to prove a point πŸ’πŸΌ‍♀️,” Kelly tweeted.
If you missed it, Taylor Swift recently called out Scooter Braun during her Prime Day concert performance.

Dapper Dan Discusses Lack Of Black-Owned Luxury Fashion Brands And Why Black People Didn’t Benefit From Gucci Boycott
Dapper Dan paid a visit to Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Thursday and talked about his fashion legacy in Harlem, the Gucci boycott, and the lack of black-owned fashion luxury fashion brands.
The 74-year-old designer discussed his fashion influence in hip-hop culture and beyond, and why he partnered with Gucci. Dan explained that Gucci did for him what other fashion brands wouldn’t do.

“Gucci comes and they say everybody’s paying homage to Dapper Dan but nobody’s paying him. We gon’ change that. We gon’ allow you to do what you’ve always done in Harlem and we’re going to do a partnership and you get a percentage of that globally,” he shared. “I could never get that. That’s my foothold.”

Dan’s close relationship with Gucci put him in quite an awkward position when the fashion brand came under fire earlier this year for their blackface sweater and celebs like T.I. and Spike Lee led a boycott on the retailer. But Dan feels that black consumers gained nothing from speaking out against the company.
“Don’t tell me there’s any organization in the world that don’t have a number of people who are racist because we don’t hear them say it, that don’t mean it ain’t happening,” he said. “So forget that part, let’s look at what can we get out of this? This will be the first boycott black people have ever had in America that we get zero results. That is too damn stupid. You walk away because you’re insulted and you end up with zero? You can’t be no hero like that.”

On the subject of black consumers placing more value on white-owned brands, Dan said, “That’s an individual choice, but I’m not going after what we buy. I’m not going to argue with black people in Harlem or [anywhere in] the U.S., about whether you want to buy luxury. No! Our culture is so powerful and selling around the world, I want to get to where they selling it at.”
He continued, “We are the influencers and our ability to influence goes around the world. I’m not just concentrating on just getting this black money here. Why I can’t get that global money if I [have] that global culture?”

Dan was asked if he could have used his influence to transform Sean Jean, Phat Farm and other black-owned fashion companies into internationally dominate brands he noted that he’s always “thinking global” but pointed out that he didn’t have the capital. “If we [black people] had a sustainable economy that can support a luxury brand I wouldn’t have to be here.”

Power Restored In Manhattan After Massive Blackout Ends Broadway Shows, JLo Concert!
A massive power outage struck New York Saturday evening, causing traffic nightmares, leaving tourists confused and sending Broadway audiences spilling into the streets.
Reports of a blackout began to surface on social media around 7 p.m. ET. Just before midnight, the city’s power company, Con Edison, announced electricity was almost fully restored. At the height of the outage, local media reports said about 70,000 customers were without power.

Photos showed major landmarks without electricity, including Rockefeller Center and Times Square, where tourists stared at the blank electronic screens.
Some Broadway productions were forced to cancel shows, and a Jennifer Lopez concert at Madison Square Garden abruptly ended mid-song. Dramatic video posted on Twitter showed the moment the concert went dark.
The New York Fire Department said a transformer fire at West 64th Street and West End Avenue caused blackout. Among the areas affected were the Upper West Side, Midtown and Hell’s Kitchen.

Getting around the city became a challenge after several subway stations lost power. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority posted a thread of tweets, saying service was “significantly disrupted.” At one point, the MTA urged residents “to avoid below-ground subway stations” until Con Edison could restore power.

NBC News correspondent and anchor, Kate Snow, tweeted a picture of a dark hallway at the network’s headquarters, and said staffers were forced to use backup generators to broadcast Saturday’s edition of the Nightly News.
Officials said there was no indication of intentional sabotage. No serious injuries or fatalities were reported.

Shannen Doherty Finally Seen Getting Along With '90210' Co-Stars
The ladies on "Beverly Hills: 90210" finally appear to be saving a seat for Shannen Doherty at the Peach Pit. Doherty was seen sitting in a booth alongside co-stars, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling.
"Wait what???? Flashback photo or present day?" Doherty captioned the photo.
The pic appears to have been taken recently, however the ladies do look fantastic, with a 90s glow about all of them.

Doherty has been labeled the cast villain after rumors circulated that she was causing problems on set of the rebooted show.
As reported, the show-runner, and multiple writers for "90210" had quit over claims of alleged interference from "two of the show's lead actresses."
They didn't name Doherty out right, but heavily implied it was her fault for being a control freak.

Doherty responded and defended her character, saying, "Being a part of tv history is an honor but it also comes with some massive backlash. There has been many stories floating around about this show and me. One of the reasons I hesitated to say yes was for this crap. The only thing I’m a control freak over is my health. Trying to stay healthy and positive."

Lamar Odom Is 'Disappointed' After Getting Booted from Big 3 League
Lamar Odom is upset that he heard he was fired on Instagram before even getting a phone call, but he still makes it clear he's got love for Ice Cube.
Odom just broke his silence, and said, "I am extremely disappointed with the way that this has been handled."
He explained, "Besides the embarrassment, it’s disappointing to read on IG that this decision had been made, especially without sharing it with myself or my manager."
After Odom was let go from the Enemies, after barely playing in the season, Ice Cube said that the former NBA star's health was their main concern.
The Big 3's stance is that Odom was in no condition to compete, and they were worried about pushing his health too far.

In response, Odom revealed, "I have been 100% transparent about my condition before signing the contract, but at that point it wasn't an issue. I was told after game #1 that I had been given extra time to get stronger."
He also said he was looking forward to an upcoming game in Rhode Island as a big comeback.
Even though they are at odds, Odom says he still supports Ice Cube.

"I am proud & rooting hard for Ice Cube to build this league to the next level. He is the only black male owning a sports league in the USA, just let that one sink in for a moment," he wrote."

Khloe Kardashian's ex-husband says he won't let this rejection stop his drive, and that, "I hope that we can use this situation as a lesson to grow, heal and become better people."

Nicki Minaj Accused Of Threatening Writer Over Her Savage "Touching 40" Comments
The 'MEGATRON' rapper is being accused of threatening a writer who got fired over a tweet about Minaj and the content of her music.
Nicki Minaj is being accused of threatening a writer who wrote a tweet about her music last year.
Nicki Minaj Slammed After Claiming Jamaican Police Pulled Guns On Her For Swearing
Tuwanna Thompson is allegedly suing her former employer Karen Civil for firing her over the tweet. According to The Blast, she's worked for Civil's website as an intern, and is now suing Civil, her website, and the CEO, Christian Emiliano.

“You know how dope it would be if Nicki put out mature content?” wrote Thompson in June last year. "Just reflecting on past relationships, being a boss, hardships, etc. She’s touching 40 soon, a new direction is needed.”
The tweet soon went viral, even spurred a biting response from Minaj herself. Thompson shared the response to her Twitter, and claimed that the rapper's fans were ending her death threats.

And, as previously mentioned, the tweet, which Thompson describes as "innocent", ended up getting Thompson fired from her job with Civil, despite her deleting the tweet upon her employer's request.
"The nature of Minaj’s messages, which were vulgar and tasteless, shocked PLAINTIFF, who in turn shared with her followers on Twitter that had received a DM from Minaj that was “disgusting” and explained that she feared the backlash of publicly posting the DM," the suit says.
The report states that Thompson believes the CEO, Christian Emiliano, damaged her reputation with his comments and affected her ability to get work after he shared a “public rant” about her on Twitter.

Thompson is seeking $1.5 million in damages for defamation.

Reunited and It Felt Good! Paul McCartney And Ringo Starr Reunite at Dodgers Stadium!
Los Angeles Beatles fans thought they died and went to heaven Saturday night when Ringo Starr joined Paul McCartney on stage to perform “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” — and “Helter Skelter.”

The audience at Paul’s massive Dodger Stadium concert screamed when he announced during the encore a “surprise for everyone” — the “one and only Ringo Starr!” The Beatles drummer walked on stage, embraced his old band mate, and Paul kissed him on the top of the head, according to The Blast. “Peace and love, everybody!” Ringo shouted. “All right, brother,” said McCartney. “I love you, man.”
McCartney clutched his bass and Starr settled in behind the drums, and they let loose ... on an appropriately psychedelic stage. Ringo stuck around to play “Helter Skelter” — and everyone enjoyed the show.
Ringo tossed his sticks into the audience when he finished, and pretended to reach for Paul’s bass to chuck that in, too. “It’s been a thrill for me,” he said. “And I love you, man.” Paul told his old pal (again): “I love you, man. Peace and love, Ringo.”

“I don’t think I’ll see something more iconic in my entire life,” tweeted one lucky fan in the audience. Another gushed on Twitter: “I LOVE MY LIFE.”
Ringo just turned 79 July 7. Paul wished a happy birthday on Instagram to the “best drummer in the world.”

It was the last night of McCartney’s solo American tour that started in May in New Orleans. “Farewell to you guys,” Paul said at the end, Variety reported. “Farewell to America. Only one thing left to be said: We’ll see you next time.”

Donald Trump tweets a racist attacks at 4 progressive Democratic congresswomen!
President Donald Trump used racist language on Sunday to attack progressive Democratic congresswomen, falsely implying they weren't natural-born American citizens.

Trump did not name who he was attacking in Sunday's tirade but earlier this week he referenced New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when the President was defending House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
A group of Democrats, who are women of color and have been outspoken about Trump's immigration policies, last week condemned the conditions of border detention facilities. The group of women joining Ocasio-Cortez were Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

Trump implied in the series of tweets that the congresswomen weren't born in America and sarcastically suggested, "they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came."
Later Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter that the country she "come(s) from" and "swears to" is the US and suggested that Trump is "angry because you can't conceive of an America that includes us."
"You rely on a frightened America for your plunder," the New Yorker wrote in a tweet.
Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib and Pressley are natural-born US citizens, while Omar was born in Somalia and immigrated to the US when she was young. Omar became a citizen in 2000 when she was 17 years old, according to the New York Times.
Trump's tweets come as interest in the conditions of detention centers housing migrants has risen sharply and raids to round up undocumented immigrants are being conducted Sunday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in multiple major cities across the nation.
Democrats fight back
Omar also responded to the President's attacks on Sunday and threw punches at Trump in a pair of tweets, writing that "As Members of Congress, the only country we swear an oath to is the United States."
"Which is why we are fighting to protect it from the worst, most corrupt and inept president we have ever seen," Omar wrote, adding that Trump is "stoking white nationalism" because he is "angry that people like us are serving in Congress and fighting against your hate-filled agenda."

New Mexico Rep. Ben Ray LujΓ‘n, the assistant speaker of the House, echoed Pelosi's sentiments on Twitter Sunday: "A racist tweet from a racist president."
On "Fox News Sunday," LujΓ‘n told Chris Wallace, "That's a racist tweet. Telling people to go back where they came from? These are American citizens elected by voters in the United States of America to serve in one of the most distinguished bodies in the US House of Representatives."
Other Democrats also criticized Trump's tweets Sunday, including a number of 2020 presidential hopefuls.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders wrote in a tweet that, "When I call the president a racist, this is what I'm talking about."
Andrew Yang, another 2020 Democratic hopeful, said in a tweet that, "Characterizing members of Congress as being from another country is part of the problem."
Trump has routinely inflamed public debate and in turn rallied his base with comments about race.
Pelosi, a California Democrat, and this group of freshmen lawmakers have been embroiled in a dispute over the last couple weeks, although Pelosi called for unity recently among House Democrats.
