Yara Shahidi looks mesmerisingly beautiful on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia
Cape Town – Grown-ish actress Yara Shahidi is the June cover star of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia magazine.
Aside from the stunning cover and feature photo shoot – taken by photographer Taylor Tupy – the Iranian-African-American 18-year-old opens up to HB Arabia’s Emily Baxter-Priest about how her multicultural heritage has shaped her into the activist she is today.
Speaking about her family, Yara says: “Being multicultural, you can’t help but be interested and connected to the world around you. My family is from all over the world, so how can you not care for people around the world too?”

Yara adds that while she is made up of two cultures – Iranian on her father’s side and African-American on her mother’s side – she doesn’t separate the two.

“I don’t see much of a ‘this is my black side and this is my Iranian side’, because I come from a family of socially-engaged humans, and it’s hard to identify because of how similar both sides are.”

#NewMusic from The Internet “Come Over”
The Internet have announced the official release date of their anticipated new album Hive Mind. Due out on July 20, the set has already been preceded by the groovy single “Roll (Burbank Funk)” along with it’s equally funky KAYTRANADA remix.

The album’s release date and pre-order info has been accompanied by another brand new song, titled “Come Over.” Perfectly inline with their current musical direction, the record is just as groovy as “Roll” with tight instrumentation and soulful vocals from lead singer Syd.

The 13-track album appears to include zero additional features, however they could be announced at a later date. A press release for the new album describes their latest work as “kaleidoscopic, neo-soul, future sounds that reveal the growth in their creative chemistry.” It’s said to be light years beyond their previous output, both intricate and minimal, while giving each member’s contributions the space to shine.

Michael Jackson's Estate Sues ABC & The Walt Disney Company Over TV Special
The Estate of Michael Jackson is suing ABC and The Walt Dinsey Company for copyright infringement. The lawsuit stems from ABC’s television special The Last Days of Michael Jackson, which aired on May 24.

“Disney and ABC committed willful and intentional copyright infringement when they used the Estate’s copyrighted materials without the Estate’s permission,” attorney Howard Weitzman said in a press release. “Disney’s conduct here was particularly surprising given that it has no tolerance for anyone using its copyrighted material in even the most trivial of manners. Disney and ABC’s conduct is also contrary to law and industry practice, and despite several cautionary letters from the Estate to Disney and ABC attorneys. Disney and ABC never sought the Jackson Estate’s permission to use any of the material owned by the Estate in the broadcast.”

Weitzman added, “Can you imagine using Disney’s intellectual property – like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Star Wars, The Avengers, Toy Story, and so many other works – without asking Disney’s permission or getting a license? The Estate has no choice but to vigorously protect its intellectual property, which is the lifeblood of its business.”

The lawsuit lists multiple examples of copyright infringement in the TV special, including “significant and repeated excerpts” of Jackson’s songs and “substantial portions” of his most famous videos. The Estate also cites the unapproved use of footage it owns, such as performances from the Jacksons’ Triumph tour, plus clips from Estate-approved projects — specifically the 2009 feature film Michael Jackson’s This Is It and Spike Lee’s 2016 documentary Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall.

The Last Days of Michael Jackson was widely panned by fans, but the two-hour special helped ABC earned the best TV ratings for the night of May 24.

Drake’s Dad Dennis Graham BLASTS Wendy Williams calls her RuPaul Jr!
Drake‘s daddy, Dennis Graham, took to social media on Wednesday afternoon and blasted Wendy Williams for her commentary on Pusha T‘s scathing diss track aimed at his son.

Roseanne Barr blames Ambien: 'I'm not a racist, just an idiot'
Roseanne Barr is blaming Ambien for her racist tweets and telling her fans, "I'm not a racist, just an idiot who made a bad joke."
Sanofi, the maker of Ambien, responded with a statement full of shade: "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication."

Barr's Ambien explanation was part of an hours-long tweetstorm reacting to ABC's cancellation of her hit show "Roseanne."

She had said on Tuesday that she was leaving Twitter, but she just can't seem to log off.
She zig-zagged between apologizing for her foul Twitter behavior and retweeting memes that made her apology sound insincere. She retweeted fans who portrayed her as the victim of a liberal media double standard. All told, she posted more than 100 times.

Barr was fired for her Tuesday tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett. But she kept it up on Wednesday, retweeting photos of Jarrett side by side with an ape.

It was Barr's earlier tweet about Jarrett that caused outrage and ultimately led to the show's cancellation. In a response to a comment about Jarrett, Barr had said: "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."

Barr still claims she was just joking when she compared Jarrett to "Planet of the Apes" and the Muslim Brotherhood in a tweet on Tuesday morning.
In a reply to one of her fans, she said "I honestly thought she was Jewish and Persian-ignorant of me for sure, but...i did."

She also said she had been on Ambien, a medication used to treat insomnia, at the time.
She tweeted, "guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting -- it was memorial day too -- i went 2 far & do not want it defended -- it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but...don't defend it please."

She cited Ambien again in a later tweet, saying, "Not giving excuses for what I did(tweeted) but I've done weird stuff while on ambien -- cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc."

Oddly, she later deleted all of her references to the medication. Nevertheless, Ambien became the #1 trending topic on Twitter on Wednesday morning, leading to Sanofi's public rebuke. Barr's explanation was deemed laughable.

"I have only taken Ambien once ... but I don't remember one of the side-effects being racism,"

Bobby Brown Is Ready to 'Slap' Kanye West Over His Choice for Pusha-T's 'DAYTONA' Cover Art
Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston’s ex-husband, is the latest person to call out Kanye West and Pusha-T for their choice of album art for Pusha’s latest album, DAYTONA. The photo features Houston’s bathroom strewn with drugs and drug paraphernalia, and Brown, who was married to Houston from 1992 to 2007, said the choice was “in really bad taste.”

"That's really disgusting that he would do that," Brown told Rolling Stone. "That's in really bad taste. Something should happen to Kanye. He's already crazy. I knew that when I first met him. Now he's pushing the bar a little bit. He needs somebody to slap him up or something. And I'm just the person to do it."
In interviews with Angie Martinez and Entertainment Weekly, Pusha outlined the process for getting the controversial photo on the cover of DAYTONA. Pusha had already chosen another photo as the cover when Kanye called him in the middle of the night proposing the change. Pusha thought the $85,000 licensing fee for the photo was too high, but Kanye insisted and paid for it himself.

Brown isn’t the first family member to call out Kanye and Pusha for their decision. Damon Elliott, Houston’s cousin who once worked with Kanye West, said the photo was “took [him] right back to six years ago,” when Houston died in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2012 with a combination of drugs and alcohol in her system. "To do something for a publicity stunt to sell records, it's absolutely disgusting. It's petty. It's tacky," he said.
“I didn’t think [Kanye West would] go this far in invading someone’s family privacy,” Elliott added. “[Kanye is] hurting people. It knocked the wind out of me last night. When someone passes, you try to mourn and move on and remember the good times.”

In addition, on Tuesday, the Houston estate issued a statement saying it was “extremely disappointed in Kanye’s choice.”

"Even in Whitney's death, we see that no one is exempt from the harsh realities of the world," the estate added.

Angelina Jolie & David Oyelowo To Star In Fantasy ‘Come Away’
Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo are in talks to star in Come Away, a fantasy drama that will mark the live-action debut of Brenda Chapman, the Oscar-winning director and co-writer of the Pixar film Brave.

Marissa Kate Goodhill wrote the script, and UK-based Fred Films is producing with Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon Productions. Oyelowo, Leesa Kahn, James Spring and Andrea Keir are producing and Michelle Manning will be executive producer. The plan is for Come Away to shoot initially in the UK, with Jolie joining the shoot in Los Angeles in the fall. Jolie is next set to star in Maleficent 2 for Disney.

Come Away is imagined as a prequel to Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Before Alice went to Wonderland, and before Peter became Pan, they were brother and sister. When their eldest brother dies in a tragic accident, they each seek to save their parents (Jolie & Oyelowo) from their downward spirals of despair until finally they are forced to choose between home and imagination. This sets the stage for their iconic journeys into Wonderland and Neverland.
“Angelina and David are going to bring a beautiful chemistry and depth to this magical story, giving audiences a wonderful step outside the expected,” Chapman said.

Said screenwriter Goodhill: “Brenda is a singular storyteller. Her decades of experience in creating rich fantasy worlds populated by complex characters make her a dream director for this project, which explores how fantasy functions as a way to cope with reality. Her thoughtful approach to filmmaking and indomitable talent make her the perfect person to bring this story to life.”

Court Denies Meek Mill’s Request for Judge Genece Brinkley’s Removal
A judge in Philadelphia has denied Meek Mill’s request for the removal of another judge from the rapper’s case.
President Judge Leon Tucker told Mill in a Wednesday hearing that he doesn’t have jurisdiction over the matter. He says only the state Supreme Court can decide that.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered Mill’s release from prison last month where he was serving a two- to four-year sentence on a probation violation related to a decade-old gun and drug conviction.
Mill’s lawyers want Judge Genece Brinkley removed from his case. They allege she’s been waging a vendetta against the rapper, including sending him to prison for the probation violations.

She has strongly defended her impartiality.
Prosecutors say they believe Mill should get a new trial because of questions raised about the credibility of his arresting officer.

RHONY’s Luann de Lesseps Speaks Out On Bethenny & Carole’s Feud! Does She Believe They Can Reconcile?
Not since the days of Jill Zarin have Real Housewives of New York City fans seen a feud like the ongoing one between Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwill.
And now their castmate Luann de Lesseps is speaking out about the ongoing drama, while also revealing if she believes there is any hope when it comes to mending their friendship.

In a new interview with Life & Style, for their latest print issue, Luann admits it’s been “sad” watching Bethenny and Carole’s friendship deteriorate.
“They’ve been friends for a while. It’s sad to see,” shares Luann.
And while she doesn’t put the blame on either party, she does admit Bethenny can be a bit abrasive at times.
“She is brutally honest and can be harsh,” Luann says, adding that the feud has caused a lot of tension on the RHONY set.

“It’s palpable,” she notes. “It’s never easy to work around conflict and drama.”
When it comes to the all important question of whether there is any chance of reconciliation between Bethenny and Carole, Luann doesn’t see that happening anytime soon.

“I hope they will work things out, but it doesn’t look very good,” she admits.

So, Do You Think There’s Any Chance Bethenny & Carole Can Mend Their Friendship?
