The Daily Buzz For May 19

Time magazine's latest cover illustrates Trump's White House transforming into a Kremlin-like building
Time magazine on Thursday published a stunning illustration on its cover for the May 29th issue, depicting the White House mutating into a Kremlin-like building, featuring the distinctive onion domes and red brick of Russia's Saint Basil's Cathedral.
The cover accompanies a story detailing White House officials' struggles to contain and respond to multiple Russia-related controversies.

The issue also follows several explosive news reports published over the last week involving the Trump administration's ongoing controversies involving Russia, including The Washington Post's report on Monday that President Trump had shared highly classified information with two top Russian officials in an Oval Office meeting last week, just one day before Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, who was investigating Russian interference in the US presidential election.
The New York Times then reported on Tuesday that Comey had written a memo reportedly detailing Trump's request to shut down his investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn over his conversations with Russian officials.

Then on Wednesday, the Department of Justice named former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
According to Time executive editor Matt Vella, the cover is the magazine's first in a decade to feature no cover line accompanying the illustration.
The magazine's cover is just the latest in a series of issues that have been openly critical of Trump's administration and his candidacy.

#RHoA: Tamra Judge Weighs in on Phaedra Parks’ ‘R.H.o.A Reunion Drama: She ‘Should Be Fired’!
Keeping it real! The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge took to Facebook on Wednesday, May 17, to share her thoughts about The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9 reunion drama involving her fellow Bravo star Phaedra Parks.

“When you make up a lie about a cast mate (or husband) and try to destroy their character & reputation, YOU SHOULD BE FIRED,” the RHOC vet, 49, wrote of Parks, 43. “#Bye-bye."
Judge was referring to the fourth and final part of RHOA’s season 9 reunion, in which Parks admitted to telling her bestie Porsha Williams that her ex-BFF Kandi Burruss and Burruss’ husband, Todd Tucker, had planned on drugging Williams, 35, and taking her home — even though it wasn’t true. For her part, Parks apologized to both Burruss, 41, and Williams during the reunion, acknowledging that she "shouldn't have repeated it."
Judge isn’t the only Real Housewife outside of the ATL who has spoken out about the drama. When Us Weekly Video caught up with The Real Housewives of New York City’s Bethenny Frankel at the NBCUniversal Upfront Presentation in NYC on Monday, May 15, she didn’t hold back in her critique of Parks.
“It was disgusting,” “That was gross. … I don’t think Phaedra can bounce back from that.”
Though Judge and Frankel are outraged by Parks’ behavior, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Lisa Rinna recently expressed sympathy for the attorney. “I really like Phaedra Parks. I think it's a really tough show to do, and I wish her well,” she told Entertainment Tonight on May 10. “And I send her love.”

A source previously claimed Bravo parted ways with Parks, who has starred on seven seasons of RHOA. “Phaedra is not coming back as of now,” the insider told claims. “Bravo is not planning to ask her back.” (Bravo had no comment.)

#EMPIRE: ‘Tariq Dead On 'Empire'? Lucious' Mother Has It Out For Him (SPOILER ALERT)
SPOILER ALERT: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the episode of “Empire” which aired on Wednesday, May 17.

“Empire” is no stranger to saying goodbye to major characters, and the Fox show did it again, killing off the main antagonist of Season 3: Tariq (Morocco Omari), who was stabbed in the neck by none other than Lucious’ mother, Leah Walker (Leslie Uggams.)

Earlier in the episode, Lucious (Terrence Howard) and his half-brother Tariq had finally made up, after a long history of hating each other. Lucious enlisted Tariq’s help to find his granddaughter, Hakeem’s (Bryshere Gray) baby girl, Bella, and Tariq was successful in finding her — with the Dubois family, a.k.a. Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) former flame, Angelo (Taye Diggs), and his nutso mother, Diana (Phylicia Rashad).

Moments before Wednesday’s episode ended, Tariq sat down with Lucious to tell him that he found Bella, who’s been missing. He was about to reveal the baby’s whereabouts, but didn’t spill before Leah came up behind him and stabbed him right in the neck. Lucious yelled, “What did you do?” as Tariq fell to the bloody floor and quickly died.

So what’s really going on here Empire Fans?

#HIPHOPNEWS: Ice Cube Announces ‘Last Friday’ Movie
Yooooooo! Ice Cube is bringing Friday back.

The legendary West Coast MC announced the fourth installment in the Friday franchise on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on Tuesday (May 16). “We’re working on one right now,” said Cube. “We’re gonna call it Last Friday.”
Last Friday follows the 1995 original and its subsequent sequels, 2000’s Next Friday and 2002’s Friday After Next.
Jason Derulo, who was also part of the interview, praised the original for its impact. “Friday was one of my favorite movies of all time,” he said. “Literally, I would watch it every single Friday. It was that serious.”
Cube has become a major box office draw with multiple film franchises, including Friday, Barbershop, Are We There Yet? and 21 Jump Street. Plus, next year, he’s set to reprise his role as James Payton in Ride Along 3.

During the “Late Late Show” interview, Cube and Derulo also bonded over what their mothers thought of their controversial music. “[Moms] don’t want you to do nothing until the money comes in,” Cube said with a smile. “Then, you can do anything.”
Continuing their convo on music, the Don Mega talked about the first time he went into the studio as a teenaged “super” rookie. Then, Jason shared the first album he ever purchased with his own money, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, by showing off some MJ-inspired moves.

Should be fun!

Meet The Billionaires Jay Z And Beyonce
Just one week after it was reported that Jay Z was the second richest hip-hop artist on the planet, Forbes is revealing that Hov and his wife are officially a billion-dollar couple.
According to the news outlet, the famous couple’s combined net worth is a whopping $1.16 billion dollars. Given Forbe’s previous report, Jay is worth $810 million and Beyonce $350 million.
So how did these superstars become one of the richest couples in the industry? Jay can credit the success of his label Roc Nation, the success of his music and his little music streaming service called Tidal.

As for Beyonce, well, duh, her music. She, however, can also thank her sold-out tours, deals with brands like Pepsi and her clothing brand, Ivy Park.

Couples goals!!!

Kerry Washington Is Just As “Sad” that ‘Scandal’ Coming To An End
Kerry Washington has finally broken her silence about Scandal coming to an end.
It was reported last week that the hit ABC drama will officially wrap next season. Despite having one more season of Pope and company, Gladiators still collectively lost their minds following the news.

But during an appearance on Good Morning America, Washington admitted to feeling just as “sad” as the fans. “I think we’re all a little sad but also we feel grateful to have the information,” Kerry said.
The 40-year-old continued, “Sometimes as an actor you don’t know when you’re going to be out of a job, so it’s nice actually to go into the last season knowing that it’s our last season. We’re already talking about how it’s going to be, like, no-holds-barred, better than ever, no holding punches, putting it all out on the table.”

The mother of two also revealed that the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, reworked the storylines to slightly reflect what’s happening politically in the U.S. “As we have created sort of the imaginary world of the impossible in Washington, now that’s happening in the real world, so we’ve had to up our ante,” Kerry explained.

The two-hour Season 6 finale airs Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

TIMES SQUARE TRAGEDY!  Woman killed, 22 injured after car plows into pedestrians in Times Square; no indication of terrorism
A driver plowed into a crowd in New York's Times Square midday Thursday, killing an 18-year-old woman and injuring 22 others, police said.
The motorist, a Navy veteran, tried to flee the scene, according to police, but was tackled by a traffic agent.
There is no indication of terrorism based on information at this time, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
The car, a 2009 Honda Accord, struck 23 pedestrians, killing Alyssa Elsman, an 18-year-old tourist from Michigan, law enforcement sources and city officials said. Elsman graduated from high school in 2016, her former principal said.
Police said 22 people were taken to nearby hospitals, including the 13-year-old sister of the deceased victim. Officials said four people are in critical condition, three others suffered serious injuries and the other 15 people have less serious injuries.
The driver was identified by police as Richard Rojas, 26, of the Bronx. At 11:55 a.m. he was driving south on 7th Avenue when he made a quick U-turn onto a sidewalk at 42nd Street and sped along the sidewalk for three-and-a-half blocks, striking multiple pedestrians until crashing at 45th Street, according to law enforcement.
After Rojas crashed, he fled the car but was detained by police and civilians, police said. He allegedly punched a police officer as they took him into custody, sources said.
The car appeared to catch fire after crashing. Rojas has had multiple arrests, including two for driving while intoxicated, police said. Investigators are reviewing Rojas' criminal history and are in the process of interviewing him.
Law enforcement sources told ABC News initial tests have come back negative for alcohol but positive for drugs. Blood tests are underway to check for the presence of synthetic marijuana or PCP, among other substances, sources said. Sources also said police are trying to determine whether Rojas suffers from psychological problems, based on statements made at the time of his arrest.
Law enforcement sources said charges are pending. Rojas is a veteran who served in the Navy from 2011 to 2014, sources said.
He has two prior arrests in Manhattan and Queens for driving while intoxicated; in one of those cases he was driving 90 mph in a 50-mph zone, law enforcement sources said. His most recent arrest was for menacing; Rojas is a notary and was arrested earlier this month for threatening someone who came to his home to get an annuity notarized, sources said.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who was at the scene getting briefed by New York Police Department officers, said in a statement, "Today’s events at Times Square were nothing short of horrific. I was briefed at the scene by Commissioner [James] O'Neill and saw firsthand the professionalism and diligence of New York’s first responders. As facts continue to emerge, my heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy, as well as their families."
While there are some streets closed to traffic, Broadway theaters will be open tonight and will be accessible to pedestrians.

ICONIC R&B Singer Stephanie Mills FIRES Manager Hiriam Hicks because he Mishandled Her Money.
According to NYDN reports, Grammy winning R&B star Stephanie Mills has ended her working relationship with music mogul Hiriam Hicks, citing financial discrepancies as the reason.
The 60-year-old vocalist, who headlined a sold-out Mother’s Day concert at the Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City, N.J., on Sunday, tells us Hicks was fired the following day.

“Often times when this happens to an artist, they’re embarrassed and don’t want anyone to know,” Mills told Confidential. But according to Mills, as a single mother raising a special needs son, she feels a need to show strength where she feels that she’s been wronged. She says she’s disappointed because she’d “trusted” Hicks.
Hicks, the former president of Island Black Music, had been managing the singer for 3 1/2 years. Mills says Universal Attractions will oversee all of her performance dates and concert bookings for the time being. The Brooklyn native tells us she’s weighing her legal options against Hicks and plans to use this opportunity to teach younger artists about the industry.

The singer share this on Instagram confirming the situation.
However, Hicks denies the story."Your information is incorrect," he wrote in an email. "Ms. Mills and I have an ongoing working relationship"

DAMN STEPHANIE!

‘He’s A Bullsh*tter’: Obama Didn’t Hold Back While Talking About Trump To Friends
After a few months punctuated by rare Obama sightings — including a strut through Manhattan and a windsurfing extravaganza — the most recent former president has been carefully edging back into public life.
He’s only providing a little face time and the occasional speech, which means that his supporters still have a chance to miss him. However, this also provides a vacuum into which some gossipy tidbits shall flow. This would include People‘s discussion with two Obama friends, who relay what he really thought after Trump won the election and suddenly became an Obama fanboy:
“He’s nothing but a bullsh**ter,” Obama told two friends early last November, describing an election night phone call with Trump, in which the businessman suddenly professed his “respect” and “admiration” for Obama — after years of hectoring.
Harsh? Not really. Trump spent eight years slamming Obama (including all of that birtherism nonsense) and hasn’t stopped yet, so “bullsh*tter” would accurately describe someone who insincerely gushes, as Trump tends to do.

Also, People generally only publishes publicist-approved dirt, so the chances of this story being true are greater than, say, with the National Enquirer(which is largely a Trump mouthpiece these days anyway) or Star. However, this little morsel doesn’t take into account all of the events that have transpired since election night, including Obama’s supposedly “livid” reaction when the new president accused him of wiretapping Trump Tower.

Presumably, the full People interview will reveal more juicy thoughts, but one of the friends did reveal that Obama’s still not loving the new guy: “It hasn’t gotten any better.” Especially not this week!
