Did Kandi Burruss And Todd Tucker Screw Restaurant Contractors Out Of $22,000?
Court papers filed in Georgia accuse Kandi and Todd of ignoring numerous invoices. Shockingly, the suit also claims the general contractor they hired paid with fraudulent checks. Eeks! Who is this guy…Apollo Nida?
Possibly Kandi and Todd have been screwed by a shady contractor who is pocketing their cash, then not paying the crew, but it certainly seems they are guilty of not doing the proper due diligence.
Don't let life get in the way of your shows

The suit was filed by two men who worked on The Old Lady Gang, carpenter Charles Busbee and HVAC technician Tyrone Manuel.
Mr. Busbee says he his owed $16,512 by Kandi and Todd for work he and his crew did this summer. He also complains the project was very disorganized and it was necessary for him to assume the responsibilities of job site foreman without  additional compensation. By the end of June, he’d had enough of the frustrating situation, and quit.

He was supposed to be receive payment by June 30th, and when he finally was paid, discovered he had been issued fraudulent checks by Kandi and Todd‘s general contractor.

Mr. Busbee received no response to repeated invoices. “I have spoken with you on numerous occasions since you wrote the three (3) checks, and I have received only empty promises to match my empty pockets,” one of his invoices (submitted as evidence) states.
Mr. Manuel tells a similar story. He provided cooling systems for the kitchen and lobby. He states Kandi and Todd owe him $5,366.
Copies of the court paperwork are at The Daily Mail – click here. The Old Lady Gang is due to open in February ’17. Kandi hasn’t publicly commented on the suit, but she did tweet, “Today has been so stressful… This restaurant is gonna drive me crazy & it’s not even open yet.”

Hmmm… after all the stink Todd made about Phaedra Parks not paying him, I hope he and Kandi clear this up right away, lest they be hypocrites. #FixItJesus.

Empire Exclusive Photos: All about Muva’s Phylicia Rashad's Shade-Filled Meeting with Cookie

Empire has had a LOT of guest stars in its day but very few with the O.G. TV veteran status of Phylicia Rashad. Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), with her broom beatdowns and one-liners, is the hip-hop generation's fierce Mama Bear but let's be real: one potent glare from Clair Huxtable could turn Cookie Lyon into a pillar of salt under a fur coat.
Of course, Rashad won't be playing Clair when she makes her Empire appearance on Nov. 16. She's playing Diana Dubois (whose name alone sounds like putting on a silk robe while holding a flute of champagne after delicately stepping out of the bathtub). She'll appear in several episodes this season; she's the mother of Angelo Dubois (Taye Diggs), the city councilman who's been lobbying for a seat in Cookie's heart over the past few episodes.

Cookie, you'll remember, has already been feeling heat from Angelo's bourgeois friends, who basically treated her like she pulled homemade catfish nuggets out of her pocketbook at a black-tie gala. In these exclusive photos from Fox, Angelo is evidently introducing Cookie to his no doubt disapproving mother for the first time, and though we can't hear what they're saying, these photos say quite a bit. Shall we dig in?

Let's talk about Diana's pantsuit. Sturdy. Timeless. Hillary-esque. 5th Avenue realness. Also, it's crimson, as if to let Cookie know she's classy and will read for blood. And that matching pocketbook! The queen of England could never. Okay. Moving on to that coif. It's Anita Baker album cover fresh, with that little swoopy tendril in front hinting at a coquettish spirit underneath her polished exterior. Nobody in the room is worthy, tbh.

Then there's Cookie, who subconsciously sought to protect her sensitive throat chakra by covering it with a symbol of demure femininity, because she knows Diana Dubois don't play. It remains to be seen what Diana Dubois thinks about gigantic acrylic flowers, but we're gonna guess "not much." Word to the wise, Cookie: consider sleeves the next time you meet mom! Anyway, it's clear from what we're seeing here that someone has just walked in the room and the look on Diana's face says something like, "Oh, are the people from your spades tournament here so soon?"
In another shot, we see Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), whose "Gerald from Hey Arnold" hightop fade, albeit expertly detailed, is probably not making Diana Dubois' knees buckle in amazement. You'll notice Jamal (Jussie Smollett) wearing the same shade as her (a nod, maybe, to Jamal being the one Lyon with a modicum of social grace) and standing next to her. Diana Dubois would probably prefer Angelo date Jamal than Cookie, but whatever.

Now Cookie is holding a baby, which we can reasonably assume is Bella, Hakeem's daughter/sister he had with his jump-off turned step-mom Anika (Geace Gealey). It's doubtful that Diana Dubois has already been briefed on how messy that situation is, but it certainly would explain that smug smile on her face in this photo. "So this is your out-of-wedlock granddaughter your son had with his father's wife?" she could be saying. "Isn't that lovely. Angelo, may I have a word?"

What do you think is going down?

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Fox.

R&B Ol' School FLASH BACK! Enchantment ‘Where Do We Go From Here’
Enchantment were one of the very last "sweet soul" groups of the '70s to reach fruition and chart success. Not slick enough to be dubbed "urban contemporary," they offered a polished take on the early '70s soul of Motown (especially the Temptations and Marvin Gaye) and Philly (the O'Jays, particularly on the more uptempo numbers. Enchantment had its first big break in 1976, as the group signed with the Roadshow label and recorded a debut album with young producer (and future Motown executive) Michael Stokes. Enchantment was a decent introduction to the group, but most importantly was the first showcase for Enchantment's strong harmonies and the wonderful falsetto lead vocals and songwriting skills of EJ Johnson.

Johnson was more influenced by Eddie Kendricks than Philip Bailey, but in an era of falsetto lead vocalists (from Russell Thompkins of the Stylistics to Eugene Record of the Chi-Lites), his ability to both master emotional ballads and attack blistering upbeat tunes moved him to the head of the class. Enchantment's debut album boasted two top ten R&B hits, "Sunshine" and the beautiful ballad, "Gloria," both written by Johnson.

And here’s another hit from there we chose to make it the Throwback of the Day! Listen to Where Do We go from Here’ below

New Hip Hop Video: Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, & TM88 – ‘Bossed Up’
Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and TM88 get “Bossed Up” in the video for their TGOD Mafia banger.
The Good Boy Shady-directed clip finds Wiz and Juicy running an office as true bosses. It even starts with a motivational speech from the Juiceman as he addresses employees.
“Time waits for no man,” he explains. “You gotta boss up, man. It’s time to stop playing around and being lazy. Get up and get to the money, ni**a. Grind, ni**a. Believe in your motherfu**in’ self.”

While Wiz smokes so much that his employees get high, Juicy takes things to the strip club. In the meantime, disgruntled workers take their frustrations out on computers and supplies in a classic Office Space-inspired scene.

Listen Here:
“Bossed Up” is a single off TGOD Mafia’s June album Rude Awakening, which is not to be confused with Taylor Gang’s more recent release, TGOD Volume 1.

Common was Secretly Dating Regina Hall for a Year!
Is Common dating Regina Hall? Reportedly, the 44-year-old rapper turned actor and 45-year-old actress have been dating for a year and met while filming Barbershop: The Next Cut in Atlanta last year. According to a new report:
Common was captivated by Hall, and convinced her to go on a date with him, the source said.
‘Regina wasn’t interested in dating a fellow actor. She’s always shied away from idea of being with one of her co-stars. But Common was persistent and finally won her over,’ the source revealed. But Hall was adamant that she and Common couldn’t start dating until the film wrapped production that summer – she was concerned that their personal lives could compromise their work. But after Barbershop finished filming, the pair quietly started dating and have been full steam ahead ever since.

‘This is the happiest anyone has ever seen him. He’s a hopeless romantic and after several failed relationships, he lost faith in love,’ the source said.
‘But Regina inspires him and has renewed his hope in love. It’s so beautiful to see,’ the source added.
And the relationship has even inspired Common creatively – the Grammy-winning hip hop star has started recording new music. Prior to their relationship blossoming, Common had toyed around with the idea of his 2014 album Nobody’s Smiling being his last full-length release. But once he and Hall fell in love, he started recording songs including his latest single, Love Star, featured on his upcoming album Black America Again.

‘Something about this relationship has completed him. He had success, he had awards, he has a thriving acting career and still performs concerts regularly, but he was missing pure companionship and Regina’s filled that void in the best way,’ the source said. Despite being together for more than a year, only close friends and family know the details about their courtship, and the couple have not made public appearances together. ‘Keeping the public out of their relationship is the best chance they have for going the distance,’ the source said.

Prior to dating Hall, Common has been linked to actress Taraji P. Henson, tennis star Serena Williams and singer Erykah Badu. Hall most recently dated Olympic athlete Felix Sanchez and NBA baller Arron Afflalo.

Jay Z Interested In Buying Prince’s Unreleased Music
Before Prince died, he was an artist owner at Tidal. Following his death, Tidal made every released song and album available for streaming. Now we learn Jay Z wants to take it a step further.

Several weeks ago,  Jay Z  flew Prince’s sister, Tyka, and her husband, Maurice Phillips, to New York for a meeting.  Jay was interested in purchasing Prince’s unreleased catalog. Sources say he made an offer of around $40 million, though this number has not been confirmed.
It won’t be that easy to get an answer, however. Despite the fact Tyka is Prince’s only full-sibling, she will Tyka will still have to get the deal signed off by all their brothers and sisters, in addition to the trust that is managing the estate.

Virginia Pastor and Wife Accused Of Stealing $1 Million From Congregation
On the next episode of American Greed, Terry Wayne Millender, senior pastor of Victorious Life Church in Alexandria, Va., and his wife were indicted by a grand jury on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money-laundering conspiracy. The pastor, his wife and their friend are all being accused of defrauding their congregation out of more than $1 million, Fox5DC reports.

According to the report, charges for Terry, 52, his wife Brenda Millender, 56, and Grenetta Wells, who is affiliated with the church, were unsealed Monday after Wells was arrested, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Charges stem from a company the trio operated called Micro-Enterprise Management Group (MEMG), which allegedly helped poor people in developing countries through the provision of small, short-term loans to start or build up existing businesses by working with a network of established microfinance groups, per Fox5DC. The company was a scam which they used to convince congregations to invest.

Authorities say that the trio underlined their business’ Christian mission and promised guaranteed rates of return. Some investors gave sums ranging from $40,000 to $400,000. However, instead of using the money for its intended mission, the Millenders and Wells invested in risky trading on the foreign-exchange market and funded the Millenders lavish lifestyle. When parishioners began to question when they would get their money back, the defendants blamed delays on the 2008 financial crisis, authorities say.
“It didn’t really come as a shock—it was more of a sigh of relief,” Eric Brown, a former church member told Fox5DC. According to the news station, Brown’s family was one of those who invested in the alleged fraud scheme, although they are not a part of the federal case.
“I asked him like, ‘Hey, that’s a nice car,’” Brown told the station regarding one conversation he said he had with Terry Millender. “He said, ‘Yeah, $100,000 car. If you save up your money, God’s going to bless you.’ Come to find out now, it was actually part of our money.”

Terry and Grenetta were held without bond until another hearing set for Wednesday. Brenda Millender was released after the initial hearing. Each defendant faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, if convicted.

SMH!

Did you know Beyoncé has ‘never genuinely liked’ Kim Kardashian?
Kanye West allegedly ranted about Jay Z at a recent concert when he whined, “Our kids ain’t never even played together!” Now we know why.
After Page Six reported that Jay Z is tired of wild West’s “nut job” shtick, a source exclusively adds that the rappers’ feud “stems right back to Beyoncé’s dislike of [West’s wife] Kim [Kardashian] and that’s why Blue and North have never had a play date.”

Said the Kardashian source: “Beyoncé has never genuinely liked Kim. She’s mostly tolerated her because of their husbands’ friendship and [their] mutual friends, like Jennifer Lopez. She is always a little icy to Kim. The last time they hung out, the minute Beyoncé could leave the conversation, she did. They always have lots of awkward pauses” when they speak.

While Beyoncé’s disinterest in Kim has been rumored for a while, we hear the couple’s absence at West and Kardashian’s 2014 wedding made it clear. “[Beyoncé’s] behavior during the wedding proved she isn’t Kim’s biggest fan,” our source explained. Beyoncé and Jay Z were invited, and their names were engraved in the marble table for the wedding dinner, but they didn’t show up.

Meanwhile, multiple sources have told us that Jay Z “misses the old Kanye,” and both he and Bey prefer to keep a more low-key profile than West and Kardashian. West sometimes appears on his wife’s reality show, to the dismay of Queen Bey.

OMG! Remember The 'Afghan Girl' From the Iconic National Geographic Cover she was Arrested in Pakistan!
Sharbat Gula, the young Afghan girl featured on a 1985 National Geographic cover, was arrested today in Pakistan on charges of fraudulently obtaining national identity cards for herself and her family.
The New York Times reports that authorities arrested Gula Wednesday in her home in Peshawar. Authorities had been investigating her whereabouts for at least a year. “It took us a while to collect all the evidence against her, and the officials involved in helping her and her two sons get Pakistani national identity cards,” said Shahid Ilyas, the assistant director of the Federal Investigation Authority. Gula had apparently obtained an illegal Pakistani identity card in 1988 and a computerized identity card in 2014, while also holding onto her Afghani passport.

You probably didn’t know Gula’s name until very recently, but her face is very familiar. Photographer Steve McCurry took the picture of a 12 year old Gula in red scarf directly facing the camera in the ‘80s and her image came to stand as a symbol of the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan. Her arrest is part of a larger initiative by the Pakistani government to crack down on the number of Afghan refugees who have been driven across the border by war and unrest.
According to Gerry Simpson of the Refugee Rights Program at Human Rights Watch, 1.5 million Afghans living in Pakistan have “proof of registration cards,” protecting them from deportation. The rest resorted to using false identity cards and face the possibility of repatriation. If convicted, Gula faces a $3,000 to $5,000 fine and up to 14 years in prison.

When McCurry was notified of Gula’s arrest, he said: “We object to this action by the authorities in the strongest possible terms. She has suffered throughout her entire life, and we believe that her arrest is an egregious violation of her human rights.”

Mo’Nique, Gabby and the rest of the crew came to Atlanta To Celebrate ‘Almost Christmas’
Christmas is right around the corner, and so is the new holiday film Almost Christmas, starring Keri Hilson, Gabrielle Union and Mo’Nique. The film centers around an estranged family brought together over Christmas for the first time since their mother's passing. The family's beloved patriarch asks his family for one gift this holiday season: To get along. If they can honor that wish and spend five days under the same roof without killing each other, it will be a Christmas miracle.
The ladies looked exceptional on the red carpet at the Regal Atlantic Station in Atlanta for the screening:

Flawless! Gabby’s skin glowed as she strutted down the red carpet in a cobalt and white bamboo printed Prabal Gurung dress, black Stuart Weitzman sandals and she accessorized her look with Of Rare Origin jewels.  She's currently in ATL still shooting "Being Mary Jane."
Not only is she starring in the film, she's got an executive producer credit.

The “Being Mary Jane” star will celebrate her 44th birthday on Saturday (October 29th), so the cast surprised her with a birthday cake. By the way, a new season of “BMJ” premieres January 2017.
Oscar winner Mo’Nique made it a family affair. She brought her husband Sidney Hicks and their sons. “We're having a date night with our babies,” Mo shared on Instagram.
“Going to the @almostchristmasmovie premiere in Atlanta. This is our babies first premiere. What a great time we had. Sooooo proud of our young men.” Cute. Her twins are growing up.
Singer Keri Hilson is getting her feet wet in the acting world. On the red carpet, she stunned in an all black jumpsuit topped with a white blazer. A classic look we're loving.
Will Packer and his wife attended.
And speaking of new films, Will is currently producing Girls Trip that stars Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall.
And look who else was on the scene...Queen!
Hollywood legend Danny Glover had fun snapping selfies with his Almost Christmas co-star/comedian DC Young Fly.
We don't see him out often, but Almost Christmas star Omar Epps stepped out to support his new film. He will be starring in a new action/drama series titled "Shooter," set to premiere November 15th.
“Saints and Sinners” stars Keith Robinson, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Christian Keyes and Dawn Halfkenny joined in on the festivities.
Atlanta rapper Big Boi brought his son along and showed love to "Braxton Family Values" star Towanda Braxton. We see his foot injury didn't keep him inside.  These Uggs on a red carpet though Towanda....
Jasmine Guy, who’s gearing up for a role in the TV series “The Yard,” was front-and-center to peep the holiday flick.
United Nations Ambassador and former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young and his wife Carolyn Young brought the coupledom fab.
Looking GOOD Mo!
The film hits theaters just in time for the Holidays, November 11th.

Pixar Reveals Good & Bad News Regarding Two Sequels
Release dates for two high profile sequels are swapping dates. Pixar announced the switch on Wednesday.
The long-awaited The Incredibles 2 will storm into theaters on June 15, 2018, an entire year ahead of its previous release date. The first film earned $633 million worldwide in 2004 and won an Oscar for best animated feature.
Meanwhile, Toy Story 4 which originally had The Incredibles date, has been pushed back to June 21, 2019. It’s not the first time the fourth installment has been delayed. The project was initially announced for a June 17, 2017 opening, but last year around this same time, swapped dates with Cars 3.
Not much is known about either film, but we do know Toy Story 4 will open a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the Toy Story gang. If you remember, Andy gave his beloved toys away at the end of the third film.

Which sequel are you looking forward to more?

Bruno Mars Calls Adele A DIVA!
Bruno sat down with Cubby & Carolina Bermudez In The Morning and dished on everything including talks a Britney collaboration… What it was REALLY like working with Adele … Super Bowl advice for GaGa

Thoughts On Lady Gaga Performing The Super Bowl…
“It’s gonna be great.” Mars said on Gaga’s future half time performance. When asked about any advice he could give the singer he said, “You gotta take it in. When you’re up on that stage take it in because it’s going to be over within 2 seconds.” He continues, “You prepare for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and then you finally get on that stage and it..it’s over.”

His Thoughts On Britney Spears Wanting To Work With Him…
“Really? Right on Britney.” Mars says, “Come on Britney, come on down to the studio, let’s get it…. Britney’s an icon. I’d love to get in the studio with Britney one day.”

Well you heard it hear first Britney, give Bruno Mars a call for that song!

“She’s incredible,” Mars said about working with Adele on the song. “There was a moment when she was singing in the booth and I’m not exaggerating at all and the water was vibrating…like you know that scene in Jurassic Park….. She’s got some pipes on her, and she’s just a superstar.”

But it wasn’t like that right from the beginning… “She walks into the studio she’s got all this attitude, she’s a diva, she’s like, ‘I don’t want to do this. I don’t like that…..’ And then as soon as we uh hit a couple chords that she liked, we started rolling, and that’s where we got that song from.”
Even so Mars still expressed he would want to perform the song with her, “I don’t know what she’s waiting on man I’m like come on Adele.. like send an email, let me know!”
