The Daily Buzz For August 9

Kevin Hart Covers Entertainment Weekly!
It may be a mixed year at the cineplex so far (sorry, Zoolander 2; Huntsman, we hardly knew you). But it’s a very good year to be Kevin Hart: The one-time standup comedian is now a bona fide box-office star, with the three movies he’s already released this year — The Secret Life of Pets, Central Intelligence, and Ride Along 2 — racking up a combined half-billion dollars domestically, and a cameo-packed concert film, What Now?, due in October.

Also on the way: A Jumanji reboot with his C.I. partner-in-crime Dwayne Johnson, a remake of the acclaimed 2011 French drama The Intouchables with Bryan Cranston, a VOD comedy network, a memoir, major ad campaigns for Nike and H&M, and a partridge in a pear tree. (Not really, but there may be turtle doves: He’s also set to marry longtime fiancée Eniko Parrish on Aug. 8.)
“I got lucky,” he tells EW. “Granted, I’m here, and now I’m working my ass off to stay where I’m at, but you can’t foresee this being where it is now. I [tell] my kids, ‘Hey guys, where Daddy is — I went to community college for two weeks! Daddy rolled some dice.”

He’s being modest, of course. After more than two decades on the fringes of the business — the years hustling on the comedy-club circuit and making the most of bit parts in movies and TV — Hart has slowly and methodically made his way to the top. And he plans to climb even higher. “I want to be global,” he says. “I want to be an international star. And I’m gonna work as hard as I can to get there. Tom Cruise, Will Smith — I’m following a blueprint.”

But Hart won’t let himself turn mercenary to get there. “I’m not standing out here with the ‘f— you’ attitude,” he continues. “That’s not who I am. I don’t have that in me. I’m standing here with a we-all-can-win attitude, so let’s help each other and let’s get to a place where everybody can succeed. And doors that people were saying were closed, I now have a platform where I can open some — and put actions behind my words without bitching and complaining about what happened before. I’m slow-walking this to reality.”

Real Housewives Of Atlanta' Season 9: Porsha Williams Blasted For Hookup With Father Of Kandi Burruss' Oldest Child?
Bravo's 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' cameras just started running and drama is coming out galore about an ancient issue between Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss. Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss have starred in The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo together for four seasons as they tape their fifth. And while they had several blowups this past season, it looks like that could continue as their previous connection with one another has been blasted.
Apparently, Williams was once pretty close with the man who fathered Burruss’ now teenage daughter, Riley. Even though he hasn’t been much of a topic of conversation and Burruss is married to Todd Tucker, Burruss has made it clear that she and Riley’s father definitely have their differences.

Williams’s connection with him surfaced over the weekend via Tamara Tattles.

It was said that Williams didn’t think it was a big deal to hook up with the father of Burruss’ daughter, because he was just one of many “dates” she had went on in order to get some sort of “financial gain.” Still, the site pointed out that he is currently living with the mother of his other three children.
It was suggested that this will be a part of Williams’s story line in the upcoming ninth season. She is suspected to deny the fling and say she and the man were only good friends.
The article was first printed as a "Blind Item" but Fameolous outed the woman as being Williams.

It offered another side and said that Williams and Burruss spoke on her connection, which is 16 years old, with Riley’s father years ago and that they actually never slept together.
Williams has reportedly added that she doesn’t know why this is being a topic of conversation now and believes that one of her co-stars is looking for a story line.

Music News: ERIC BENET AND TAMIA REUNITE IN THE STUDIO!
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. For Eric Benet and Tamia, a picture might also be worth another hit duet in the making.
Both singers posted images of them working together in the studio for the first time in 17 years. And what happened 17 years ago, you might ask? Oh, just a wedding staple at this point that goes by the name of “Spend My Life With You.”

Tamia posted a short video of herself and Grant Hill in a restaurant on Instagram, sharing that “we just got done working on something” before cutting to Eric Benet dropping off a hilarious mini-freestyle of sorts (“I’m with Tamia – it’s so good to see ya/ We at the taco spot, drinking some margaritas!”). Benet also added to the speculation by posting an image of himself and Tamia in the booth, captioning it “17 years later and we ain’t missed a beat! What just happened up in herrrrrrrrrrreee??”

Suffice to say, if Eric Benet and Tamia have cut a new duet together, nearly two decades later, the fall wedding crowd might want to leave room on their reception playlist for this one. No audio has surfaced yet of what the two were working on, but you can take a look at the IG pictures yourself and begin speculating on what the new track just might be named.

New Hip Hop Video: Jim Jones Feat. A$AP Ferg – ‘Harlem’
Harlem stand up. Jim Jones and A$AP Ferg ride around their city in the video for their hometown anthem.
Over thumping production, the Trap Lord brags about making love in adidas flip-flops while Dipset’s Capo does the same in Jordan slippers. Meanwhile, Jimmy describes the ins and outs of the drug game.

“Still do it for them ni**as that buy weight,” he rhymes. “Used to get bricks off my face / And it feels like yesterday / We was in grandma’s kitchen, cheffin’ yay.”
“Harlem” appears on The Kitchen, Jones’ latest mixtape, which features appearances by the likes of Bridget Kelly, Dave East, and Kevin Gates. Jim says this song in particular makes him happy because it shows the fire is still blazing in his hometown.
“Being from Harlem it feels good to see A$AP Ferg, carrying on tradition with his recent success,” he told HNHH. “So this was a testament to Harlem, old and new classic.”

Executors Shut Down Paisley Park Rumors
Last week there were rumors the bankers in charge of Prince's estate had requested permission to sell Paisley Park Studios
Not so fast... While a list of over twenty properties were submitted for approval of sale, apparently Paisley Park was not one of them.

A statement released to the media reads,
"Bremer Trust, the special administrator for the Prince Rogers Nelson estate, has no plans to sell either Paisley Park or the property referred to as the "Purple Rain" house."
The properties submitted are worth an estimated $28 million.

Snoop Dogg & Martha Stewart’s “Dinner Party” Show Coming This Fall
Well this is one hell of a combination for a reality show.
Rapper Snoop Dogg and entrepreneur Martha Stewart are teaming up for a new unscripted VH1 weekly series with the working title “Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party.” The reality show will feature the dynamic duo hosting weekly dinner parties for their celeb friends complete with a half-baked evening of cocktails, cooking, conversation, and fun. And NOTHING is off limits. This could be good.

While they seem like an unlikely pair, the duo has worked together before. They both starred in ABC’s “100,000 Pyramid”, Snoop has appeared on Martha’s talk show and they both were involved with the Justin Bieber Comedy Central roasting.
“My homegirl Martha and I have a special bond that goes back," Snoop said via press release. “We’re gonna be cooking, drinking and having a good time with our exclusive friends. Can’t wait for you to see how we roll together!”

Interesting.“Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party” is scheduled to debut this fall.

Rapper Troy Ave To Sue Ny’s Irving Plaza Over T.I. Concert Shooting
*Attorneys for rapper Troy Ave held a press conference outside of New York’s Irving Plaza this afternoon (Aug. 8) to announce that they are suing the venue and Live Nation — which owns the club — for poor security measures, reports Billboard.
The announcement comes two months after the May 25 shooting incident at the Lower East Side venue during a T.I. concert that left one man dead and three people injured.

“We made a decision that if not for their negligence, the incident would have never taken place,” lawyer Scott Leemon told Billboard about the claims he and his partners, John Stella and Marc Albert, are making in the suit. “They let someone into the facility with a gun, did not pat them down and that’s where this person coming in, [Troy] would never have been shot.”
Troy Ave. was arrested for reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon, and menacing after a video clip surfaced showing him firing a gun during the chaotic scene backstage. Last month, Troy Ave (real name Roland Collins) avoided a murder charge and pled not guilty in a Manhattan court room after a grand jury indicted him on second-degree attempted murder and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Troy was arrested May 26 after the NYPD released an 11-second security camera video showing a man police identified as the rapper emerge from a backstage room at the club with blood on his leg and fire a gun in the direction of people fleeing. Police later found a gun that matched the ballistics taken from the scene in a “secret compartment” in Troy’s car, which had driven him to NYU Langone Hospital following the shooting.
The incident began before that in the venue’s green room, where a fight broke out that left Troy and two others injured and Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, Troy’s longtime friend and bodyguard, dead. Troy’s attorneys have said repeatedly that both their client and McPhatter were victims in the situation, and that McPhatter died a hero protecting his friend. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a second shooter, though they believe only one gun was involved and no other arrests have been made.

Troy suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg on the night of the shooting and has appeared in court in a wheelchair; he is currently free on a $500,000 bond.

A shirtless Canadian Premiere Justin Trudeau photobombs a couple’s wedding photos!!
Bumpin into a shirtless Canadian Prime Minister in nature is a regular thing apparently! First Justin Trudeau emerged from a cave to surprise a hiking family last week for a photo – now a wedding at a public beach in Tofino, B.C. had a photobombing Trudeau in the back of their union snaps!

Wedding photographer Marnie Recker snapped a photo of the prime minister standing in the background just as the bride was making her way down the aisle. She says Trudeau was departing the beach when he realized he had stumbled into the path of a wedding procession, as the bride was walking down the aisle. “It was her moment and he respectfully stood aside and witnessed her walk down the aisle to her husband-to-be,” wrote Recker on her Facebook page.
Thank God Justin didn’t try and steal her “moment”! It could have been a disaster! A true class act – I mean, if it were Kim Jong Un, he’d be front row, center!

A-Rod tells us why he's done as a Yankee
Alex Rodriguez, gave an exclusive interview with Fox Sports, said that the Yankees agreed to play him at designated hitter on Friday after the team returns from a three-game series in Boston. He then will be released, collecting the balance of his guaranteed $20 million salary this season and his entire guaranteed $20 million salary next season.

"It's both a happy and sad day," said Rodriguez, who was scheduled to hold a news conference at Yankee Stadium at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday. "I'm obviously disappointed but I'm also at peace with their decision."
Rodriguez, 41, did not rule out playing again for another club, but said, "Honestly, my horizon is pinstripes and Friday. It's been such an emotional couple of days that I can't really think beyond that right now."
Rodriguez, who joined the Yankees in 2004, said that his mother, Lourdes, and daughters, Natasha, 11, and Ella, 8, will attend his final game in New York, along with a number of friends from his native Miami and "people flying in from all over the place."

His release comes at a time of sweeping change for the Yankees, who are rapidly transitioning to a younger roster. The team traded relievers Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller and right fielder Carlos Beltran for a bevy of prospects before the non-waiver deadline last Monday. First baseman Mark Teixeira announced Friday that he will retire at the end of the season.
"This is what the organization wants right now," Rodriguez said. "Obviously, there's a shift. There's a youth movement."
Rodriguez, who has started only one of the Yankees' last 14 games, does not fit with that movement. He stands four home runs shy of 700, but has hit only nine this season and one since June 18. Overall, he is batting .204 with a .609 OPS, career lows by considerable margins.

The only way Rodriguez could even approach 700 homers would be if the Yankees played him three times in Boston as well as during their series opener against the Rays on Friday. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters Sunday, “If he wants to play in every game (through Friday), I’ll find a way.”
The Yankees' recent refusal to play him, Rodriguez said, made him "very uncomfortable."

"I'm sure it was hard for them. It was hard for me," Rodriguez said. "I've played almost 22 years in the major leagues and I've never sat on the bench. It was new territory, that's for sure."
"It's disappointing. It would have been a lot of fun to give it a crack," said Rodriguez, who worked for FOX Sports last postseason. "I think I could have done it. But there's no shame in falling 18 home runs short of Babe Ruth."

Rodriguez's career totals are staggering -- 3,114 hits, 696 homers, 2,084 RBIs, 2,021 runs, 329 stolen bases. But he also will be remembered for his admission of using performance-enhancing drugs from 2001 to '03, his 162-game suspension in 2014 that resulted from his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal, his lawsuits against baseball, commissioner Bud Selig, the players' union, Yankees doctor Christopher Ahmad and New York Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center during that contentious period.
He eventually dropped all of the lawsuits, and upon returning to the game sought to make amends not just with Yankees management, but also with the commissioner's office, fans and others throughout the game.

Steinbrenner's willingness to give Rodriguez both a proper farewell and a future in the organization is a sign that Rodriguez succeeded in ways that many could not imagine at the time of his suspension.
"Two years ago, I never thought I'd be here," Rodriguez said. "I said in spring training that it's a process, and that it's something I've taken very seriously -- how my actions impact other people. But I also said that I was at first base. I hope that today I'm rounding second base, making progress. I certainly am very proud of the way things have gone off the field.
"A lot of people are going to focus on the numbers. What I'm really happy about are the relationships I've been able to mend."
A lot of people are going to focus on the numbers. What I'm really happy about are the relationships I've been able to mend.
Rodriguez said he also is happy to become an instructor with the Yankees.

No one should expect him to ride buses from one minor-league town to another, but Rodriguez spoke of possibly spending two or three days at different Yankees' affiliates as well as making corporate appearances on behalf of the team, saying his schedule was "extremely flexible."
"This is something I'm excited about, something that Hal and I spoke about," Rodriguez said. "I get a chance to help with the farm system, help with some of our young prospects -- we have a lot of 'em. We have some really good young shortstops that have tremendous upside.
"I've always said I'm a teacher at heart. It's something I've done my entire career, but more specifically since 2004 when I got here to New York. It's a role I think I'm going to enjoy, and the goal never changes for us. We want to bring a world championship back to the fans of New York."

Would he coach or manage?
"You're like the fifth person that has asked me that," Rodriguez said, chuckling. "I have not thought about anyone else besides pinstripes. It is quite emotional for me. I came into the big leagues at 18. I'm 41. It's pretty much all I've known."
Even now, with news of his release, it is not out of the question that another team, perhaps Rodriguez's hometown Marlins, will offer him one more playing opportunity.

Rodriguez, however, sounds as if he is ready for the end.
"The sad part is, it ended too quick, as it usually ends for most athletes who feel they can play forever," Rodriguez said. "The great news is, I'm going to be in a role I think I'm going to enjoy. I'm also going to learn a lot. The fact that Hal asked me to do this is something that I'll treasure."
