Yves Saint Laurent was BURGLARIZED for over 100.000 worth of goods!
Thieves stole about $100,000 worth of purses, shoes and accessories from the Saint Laurent store located on Chicago's Gold Coast.
Thieves used a baseball bat to smash through the front window of the high-end boutique located in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel at Walton and Rush around 3 a.m. Friday. The window was shattered, and thieves grabbed expensive handbags, shoes, clothing and accessories.
"I'm surprised they got away with so much merchandise, actually," Liz Kuehl said.Neighbors say the St. Laurent YSL store was also hit when it first moved to this location in December 2013. Police confirmed a burglary on the block at 4:30 a.m. on December 12, but YSL workers refused to comment.
"It's a beautiful area, beautiful street. With the recession and everything getting better, you're seeing all these restaurants and boutiques open," Lindsay Lazar said. "To wake up and walk by this and see glass shattered, especially being the second time, it's obviously upsetting. You don't want to have to see people put bars in their windows to not get broken into but I guess that might be the case here."
The store's window is already boarded up and painted black, and after a lot of cleaning and restocking, YSL is once again open for business.
In 2012, another high-end Gold Coast store, Jimmy Choo, was also burglarized. Yes that DC Awards Ball is next Saturday. Here comes someone for the labels category! LOL!!!
