Cassie COVERS "VIBE VIXEN", REVEALS What She's LEARNED From Diddy, If She WANTS Kids & Dispells RUMOR She Signed With Drake
Inside the latest issue of VIBE VIXEN, Diddy's muse and girlfriend Casse reveals to the magazine that she actually went through an awkward stage and wasn't always a confident and stylish woman.
When asked how she grew out of that stage, she realized, “Sometimes in life, you need a change … Something deeper than what you thought you were capable of. Something that displays the ‘I don’t give a f—’ attitude that was always present, but never showcased, something that will shock your mother, but make her call you a ROCK STAR.”
After she began modeling at age 12, Cassie soon experienced a coming-of-age moment on a photoshoot.
"I did Cosmo Girl and they do a beauty issue every year and I was [shooting] for skin. It was a little bit risqué for 16. I had my little boy shorts on and I was covered up, kneeling down. That came out and people saw it, even my parents were shocked to finally see what I had grown into. That was kind of a pivotal moment.”
Elsewhere in the piece, she discusses rumors that she's working with Drake:
“I honestly don’t know where that came from but I had heard about it. I went to the OVO Festival in Canada, which was really dope, but no, I’m currently signed to Bad Boy and Interscope. Drake and I talked at the festival about working together, so hopefully that comes into fruition."Cassie discusses plans for her second album, whether she uses her good looks to her advantage and her love of the outdoors.
Read a portion of the Q-n-A here:
VIBE Vixen: There’s a level of confidence that’s so evident in the way you present yourself these days. You aren’t hesitant to talk that shit on RockaByeBaby. What caused the transformation?
Cassie: Most of the things that have happened to me have been very organic. The first thing that I actually put out was the “All Gold, All Girls (Remix)” with Trina and Lola Monroe. That was where the sound kind of started. The first song I recorded for the actual mixtape was “Numb” and then I added Rick Ross to it. It was a vibe that I was creating and the story came to be from the attitude of the songs. Like you said, I was talking a lot of shit. I was really putting myself out there but I love the fact that I finally got the chance to do something with the attitude that I have. You hold back to a certain extent when everybody is saying, “This needs to go to a chart and that’s the only way it can be successful.” But no, you can be successful by making music that people love. We got over 2 million downloads on this mixtape that I never ever imagined at all.
Here’s a saying, “You are the company that you keep” and you’ve been linked to super-talented musicians/businessmen. What’s the key to maintaining a relationship when both parties have established careers?
The key to maintaining any relationship—be it a romantic relationship or a friendship—is honesty and communication. I travel so much, host parties and I just signed a new deal with Skam Artist, who predominantly DJs in the same bookings that they do at different parties. It’s New York, Chicago, Vegas so I’m constantly going.
So you’re going to start mastering the turntables now?
I hope it gets to that. I’ve been slowly but surely learning how to DJ. I’m really interested in learning how to do the turntables and I really want to do both dance and hip-hop. Dance is easier actually to mix when you’re DJing, but old school hip-hop and finding the real beat in there is way more difficult.
Has Diddy inspired you to run your own empire? Was there an important business lesson you learned from him?
Absolutely. Just being around him is a completely inspiring experience. Starting my own empire would be great. I’m trying to figure that out. I’m still working with Cassie Enterprises right now but I think that would be something I would love to do.

NYPD Takes Down Drug Ring With The Wire Styled Operation
Although Dwayne “Dubbs” Mitchell was beloved and known for his generosity in his Lower East Side neighborhood, he was also a notorious drug kingpin. The NYPD took down Mitchell and 10 other men, using techniques seemingly ripped out of HBO's cop drama, The Wire.
The offices of District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. issued a statement regarding the indictment, announcing the charges faced by Mitchell and his cohorts. All 11 persons were slapped with a charge of Conspiracy in the Second Degree after a lengthy investigation led by the DA's office in collaboration with the NYPD's Narcotics Borough Manhattan South division.
From the press release:
The indictment follows a 21-month joint investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the NYPD's Narcotics Borough Manhattan South. The investigation used a variety of techniques, including undercover operations, physical surveillance, and court-authorized electronic eavesdropping, in an effort to address persistent drug dealing among street crews on the Lower East Side.
“Drug dealers have no place in public housing,” said District Attorney Vance. “For years, these criminals are alleged to have run a large-scale drug operation out of the Jacob Riis Houses on the Lower East Side, a pocket of our city already struggling against crime and violence. Thanks to the heroic work of an undercover officer who managed to infiltrate this organization at its highest level, the drug dealing stops today.”
As found in the indictment, Mitchell, 35, had been purchasing large quantities of crack coke from Sabed Rahman, 29, boldly making their transactions at a downtown Manhattan Starbucks. Mitchell and his cronies conducted their business via cell phones, using coded language such as “chicken,” “food,” and “donuts” to mask their drug transactions.
An undercover officer was able to infiltrate the Dubbs drug empire along with placing the wire taps, and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly praised the efforts of his department.
“New York City police officers and especially the undercover officer in this case work[ed] tirelessly and often thanklessly to provide the residents of public housing with the same quality of life and sense of security taken for granted in other parts of the city,” said Kelly.

And according to the NY Daily News, the massive promotional campaign that Columbia Records is preparing will leave no doubt that Bey is the true Queen.

Community Board Member Says The Notorious B.I.G. Was Too Fat To Have Street Named In His Honor
This is just disrespectful. A proposal has been made to name the corner of St. James Place and Fulton Street "Christopher Wallace Way" in honor of the late, great The Notorious B.I.G. However, one community board member in the Clinton Hills neighborhood said Biggie Smalls shouldn't be honored because of his criminal background, and because he was too fat.
Reports DNA Info New York:
Community board members objected to naming a corner for the late rapper Biggie Smalls because, according to some, he was a criminal, a misogynist — and too fat to be honored.
CB2 member Lucy Koteen said she "looked up the rapper's history" and read what she had learned to the full board Tuesday night.
"He started selling drugs at 12, he was a school dropout at 17, he was arrested for drugs and weapons charge, he was arrested for parole violations, he was arrested in North Carolina for crack cocaine, in 1996 he was again arrested for assault, he had a violent death and physically the man is not exactly a role model for youth," she said. "I don't see how this guy was a role model and frankly it offends me."
Ken Lowy, board member and owner of the Brooklyn Heights Cinema, said he did not appreciate that the rapper, whose birth name was Christopher Wallace, referred to women with derogatory names in his music.
We're going to assumed Lucy Koteen isn't a fan of "Juicy," because she most definitely been one of the people he referred to as call the cops on him in the song.
Despite the community board members' indifference (we would say veiled racism, but we'll save that argument for another day), LeRoy McCarthy, 45, who is pushing to name the street after Brooklyn rapper, is still holding it down.
McCarthy said after the meeting that "board members should not hold Wallace's physical appearance nor how he died against him."
"There are many artists that share stories in a vernacular that their audiences understand," said McCarthy in response to the complaint about misogynistic lyrics. "Biggie used the language from the streets he grew up in to convey what he wanted to say."
Wallace was raised by a single mother at 226 St. James Place in Clinton Hill. He went on to become an award-winning rapper and Brooklyn icon. He was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in 1997.
McCarthy presented the board with letters of support from two local churches, a mosque, a nearby block association, several local businesses and more than 1,000 comments from people all over the world who signed an online petition in support of the co-naming.
The decision about the co-naming of the street after the Notorious B.I.G. is actually being held up because councilwoman Letitia James, who was just elected NYC's new TKPublic Advocate, has not delivered a "letter of support," which is required. Thus the proposal was tabled Community Board until James or her successor issues a letter of support.
Do you think the Notorious B.I.G. should have a street named after him, or should his criminal background prevent such an honor?
Keyshia Cole CELEBRATES Her 32nd Birthday With Husband Daniel "Bobbie" Gibson, Jas Prince & Kevin McCall
Keyshia Cole celebrated her 32nd birthday last night at the Supreme Team LA's Supperclub Tuesdays in Hollywood, CA. At one point in the evening, she wore a soft pink satin dress.
Despite rumors of infidelity and a few "TMI" Twitter rants, Keyshia's husband, NBA baller Daniel Gibson, was there to celebrate. Oddly, he wasn't wearing his wedding ring!
He posed with his friend, Jas Prince (who's engaged to Christina Milian).
Eva Marcille's baby daddy Kevin McCall was also at the party. He threw up the Que Dawg sign.
Earlier in the evening, Keyshia rocked pair of animal print gloves and performed her hits "I Changed My Mind", "Love", "Let It Go" and "Last Night".
Sources say the crowd toasted Keyshia with Patron shots and Ty Dolla Sign performed his new single "Paranoid". Happy Birthday Keyshia
