#RHOA: Recap: Kenya & Marlo Nearly Get Into A Physical Fight At Drew’s Workout Event

A majority of the June 26 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta revolved around Kandi Burruss and whether or not she’s a good friend. Marlo Hampton and Sheree Whitfield still don’t think she is, so they confronted her during a day at the sauna. Sheree — once again — told Kandi that she should have called her and checked in on her, following her drama with Tyrone. And Marlo told Kandi that if she was a good friend, then she’d know that she recently had an emotional phone call with her sister that ended badly. But Kandi said it’s a two way street and she doesn’t feel them putting in any effort either. She also explained how her own family doesn’t feel she gives them enough attention, so they should get in line. But they kept harping and it frustrated Kandi so much that she eventually hit her breaking point and started yelling. So instead of continuing with the conversation, Marlo and Sheree just gave Kandi a hug and called it a day.

Later, Sanya Richards-Ross had a heart-to-heart with husband Aaron Ross over her concerns about expanding their family. She feels that they’re way too busy to have another child, but he doesn’t agree. He wants another one and he fears that he’ll one day resent her if they don’t have a second child. And no one seems to be siding with her — when Sanya later asked Drew Sidora and her husband Ralph how they felt about the situation, they both told her she should have another baby with Aaron. Ralph said that he and Drew are just as busy, if not more, than Sanya and Aaron, yet they have three kids, so she shouldn’t be complaining about having a second. And Drew told Sanya to do whatever was needed to make her husband happy. Sanya, on the other hand, wondered why no one cared what was needed to make her happy.

At some point, Kenya Moore also met up with Kandi and told her that Marlo’s been saying she’s not a good friend. Obviously, Kandi already knew that, but when she heard Marlo was telling a lot more people than just Sheree, it just made it a bigger situation than it already was. Kandi couldn’t understand why Marlo was gunning for her so hard. So when the ladies all met up at Drew’s workout event, Kandi went to confront Marlo over everything Marlo’s been saying to people. Unfortunately, their conversation was cut short when Kandi’s husband, Todd Tucker, got a call and they were notified that a trespasser had gotten onto their property while their kids were at home with a babysitter. Kandi and Todd raced home, while Marlo was forced to finish the conversation with the other ladies. And when she found out that Kenya made the situation worse, she and Kenya started fighting with each other. They were screaming hateful words at each other, and at one point, they nearly got into a physical fight because Kenya felt Marlo was getting in her face. Fortunately, the ladies broke them up and Kenya ended up leaving. But things were very close to getting ugly.

R. Kelly sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking

R. Kelly will go to prison for 30 years for sex trafficking, sexual exploitation of a child, kidnapping and other sex-related crimes. In September, a jury found Kelly guilty on all nine charges: one count of racketeering and eight counts of violating the Mann Act. The singer, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was first accused of having sex with underage girls in the '90s but escaped punishment for almost 30 years.

Judge Ann M. Donnelly handed down the sentence on Wednesday after the court heard statements from Kelly's victims, but, surprisingly, not from the multiplatinum singer. The judge told Kelly "the public has to be protected from behaviors like this," according to the New York Times.

"These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years," Judge Donnelly added. "You taught them that love is enslavement and violence."

Federal prosecutors asked for a sentence of more than 25 years for Kelly, who faced life behind bars. The singer's lawyers were seeking the minimum of 10 years and laid out their arguments for leniency citing his "highly chaotic" childhood home where he was sexually abused.

"Mr. Kelly rejects that’s he's this monster," said his defense lawyer Jennifer Bonjean. Kelly declined to make a statement due to pending litigation.

As seven women gave victim impact statements in court, the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer rarely looked up from the table where he sat.

"With every addition of a new victim, you grew in wickedness," one woman told Kelly, per NYT. "You used your fame and power to groom and coach underage boys and girls for your own sexual gratification."

Kelly reportedly glanced up at her once before quickly looking down. "I pray that God reaches your soul," she declared.

Many of the women were emotional, according to the Chicago Tribune.

During the six-week trial, a jury heard graphic testimony from 11 accusers — nine women and two men — who described sexual and psychological abuse at the hands of the "Ignition" singer. The case hinged on the accounts of six victims, five of whom testified. The sixth, singer Aaliyah, whom Kelly illegally wed when she was 15, died in a plane crash in 2001.

Kelly, with the help of his inner circle, used his fame and status to prey on children and young women for his own sexual gratification. The government pushed for a sentence "in excess" of 25 years because his crimes fell within the following four categories: enticement of children; the sexual exploitation of children through the production of child pornography; forced labor; and exposing others to incurable communicable disease (genital herpes) through unprotected sexual intercourse as Kelly didn't disclose his status.

"He lured young girls and boys into his orbit, often through empty or conditioned promises of assistance in developing a career in the entertainment industry or simply by playing into the minors' understandable desire to meet and spend time with a popular celebrity," federal prosecutors wrote in their sentencing letter.

"Through his actions, [Kelly] exhibited a callous disregard for the very real effects that his crimes had on his victims and has shown no remorse for any of his conduct. Indeed, the defendant's decades of crime appear to have been fueled by narcissism and a belief that his musical talent absolved him of any need to conform his conduct," the government added.

Lizzette Martinez, one of the victims who spoke at the hearing, told reporters she's "pleased with" the sentence, but added: "I personally don't think it's enough."

Martinez said she was an "up and coming singer, a girl full of life" before she met Kelly and became "a sex slave."

Kelly hired new counsel after his conviction. Jennifer Bonjean successfully got Bill Cosby's sex assault conviction overturned last year. Earlier, Judge Donnelly denied the defense's motion for an acquittal and new trial. Bonjean will likely appeal.

After court, Bonjean spoke to the press and maintained her client is "not a predator."

"He was prepared for it," she said of Kelly's reaction to the sentencing. "He has regrets and he is sad... He disagrees with the characterizations that have been made about him."

Among those who wrote letters of support for Kelly was Joycelyn Savage, who says she's Kelly's fiancΓ©e. Savage's parents have spoken out that they believe she's still brainwashed, even with the singer behind bars.

"Robert and I are deeply in love and it breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that I'm a victim," she wrote in the letter, adding Kelly is "a great man, with a great heart and deserves to be home with his loved ones who are ready to support him."

Federal prosecutors are pleased with the sentence.

"R. Kelly used his fame, fortune and enablers to prey on the young, the vulnerable and the voiceless for his own sexual gratification, while many turned a blind eye," U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement. "Through his actions, Kelly exhibited a callous disregard for the devastation his crimes had on his victims and has shown no remorse for his conduct. With today's sentence he has finally and appropriately been held accountable for his decades of abuse, exploitation and degradation of teenagers and other vulnerable young people. We hope that today's sentence brings some measure of comfort and closure to the victims, including those who bravely testified at trial, and serves as long-overdue recognition that their voices deserve to be heard and their lives matter."

Kelly has been behind bars since July 2019. He'll likely be transferred to Chicago later this summer where he faces federal child pornography and obstruction charges. The singer faces additional charges in the state courts of Illinois plus Minnesota for sexual misconduct

Sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years in prison

Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison for recruiting and grooming teenage girls to be sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell, 60, a British socialite, was slapped with the penalty for her “instrumental role in the horrific sexual abuse of multiple young teenage girls.”

In addition, she was sentenced to five years of supervised release once she gets out of prison and ordered to pay a $750,000 fine.

Before she was sentenced, Maxwell addressed the court for the first time, telling the victims present in the courtroom that she was "sorry for the pain you have experienced.”

“I also want to acknowledge I have been convicted with helping Jeffrey Epstein with his crimes,” she said. “It is the greatest regret of my life that I ever met Jeffrey Epstein.”

But U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan for the Southern District of New York said Maxwell "directly and repeatedly, and over the course of many years, was involved in a horrific scheme."

“Ms. Maxwell today acknowledged the courage of the victims, talked about the pain and anguish they expressed, to some extent acknowledged the pain and suffering,” she said. “What wasn’t expressed was acceptance of responsibility.”

Then Nathan hit Maxwell, the multimillionaire daughter of the late newspaper baron Robert Maxwell, with the 240-month sentence.

Before that, Annie Farmer, the only one of Maxwell’s four accusers to testify under her full real name during the trial, and several other victims, addressed the court.

“We all felt powerless," Farmer said while Maxwell, dressed in a blue prison top, avoided her eyes.

Another victim, who was identified only as Kate, said Maxwell’s lack of remorse or acknowledgment of her behavior “is the final insult.”

“She doesn’t think what she did was wrong," Kate said. "She is not sorry.”

The sentencing closed a chapter in the salacious saga of Epstein, a once-powerful financier whose friends and contacts included powerful men from former Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton to Britain’s Prince Andrew — and who escaped justice by hanging himself in 2019 in a Manhattan federal prison cell while he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges.

Maxwell's sentence was lower than the 30 to 55 years that federal prosecutors had been seeking. Nevertheless, they sounded satisfied.

“Today’s sentence holds Ghislaine Maxwell accountable for perpetrating heinous crimes against children," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement released after the proceeding. "This sentence sends a strong message that no one is above the law and it is never too late for justice."

Wendy Williams Plans To Start A Podcast, Teases Potential Celebrity Guests

The Wendy Williams Show may have come to an end, but the legendary radio personality, TV host, and author is just getting started as she has hinted at her next move in the media world.

In an exclusive interview with Extra, Williams revealed that she is “heading off into world of podcasts with iTunes” after splitting with her show’s production company Debmar-Mercury. TMZ also caught up with the pop culture queen as she shared her excitement for her new endeavor and the opportunity to “make more money than doing the TV show.”

According to Williams’ manager Will Selby, she has supposedly has been in talks with some potential guests like Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, the Kardashians, and the Trumps. Selby also mentioned that the 57-year-old Radio Hall of Fame inductee is looking to partner with the right digital streaming platform.

Williams got her start as a radio DJ at her college station in the 1980s and began working for KISS-FM in New York City in the 1990s before landing her own TV show in 2008. Her self-titled talk show lasted 13 seasons amid her series of health-related issues and personal challenges. The Wendy Williams Show ended this year without Williams. Instead, a host of guests, including Sherri Shepherd, filled in for the star. Shepherd’s guest-hosting resulted in the show having its highest ratings of all guests, respectfully leading her to turn The Wendy Williams Show into her own show called Sherri, which will premiere in the fall.

However, Wendy hasn’t written off TV altogether. Sources say she’s still interested in making TV appearances on talk or reality shows like The View or The Real Housewives series.

Formula 1 condemns ex-champ Nelson Piquet after he calls Lewis Hamilton the N-word

Former Formula 1 champion Nelson Piquet called Lewis Hamilton the N-word in an interview about the racing between Hamilton and Max Verstappen during the 2021 season.

The Brazilian three-time champion and father of Verstappen's girlfriend Kelly used the racial slur on a podcast while discussing the battle between Hamilton and Max Verstappen at the British Grand Prix in 2021. Hamilton and Verstappen made contact on the first lap and Verstappen's car crashed hard as a result. Hamilton went on to win the race. Verstappen won the title on the final lap of the season thanks to a series of controversial decisions by F1 officials.

Piquet’s offensive language was quickly disseminated by media outlets Monday and condemned by Formula 1 and Hamilton’s Mercedes team. The 2022 British Grand Prix is Sunday.

“Discriminatory or racist language is unacceptable in any form and has no part in society,” Formula 1 said. “Lewis is an incredible ambassador for our sport and deserves respect. His tireless efforts to increase diversity and inclusion are a lesson to many and something we are committed to at F1.”

Hamilton is the winningest driver in Formula 1 history and tied with Michael Schumacher with seven championships. He tweeted in Portuguese on Tuesday morning for people to focus on changing the mindset of racism.

Hamilton, 37, is the lone Black driver in Formula 1 and has been the only Black man on the grid throughout his entire career.

"We condemn in the strongest terms any use of racist or discriminatory language of any kind," Mercedes said. "Lewis has spearheaded our sport's efforts to combat racism and he is a true champion of diversity on and off track. Together we share a vision for a diverse and inclusive motorsport and this incident underlines the fundamental importance of continuing to strive for a brighter future."

Hamilton has talked at length throughout his career about the racism that he has faced in motorsports and continues to push F1 to be a more inclusive environment. He has publicly supported Black Lives Matter and other social justice causes at races and wore a shirt supporting Breonna Taylor after winning in September of 2020.

Piquet won the 1981, 1983 and 1987 Formula 1 titles and has a history of making unsavory comments. His comments came to light less than a week after Red Bull Racing suspended junior driver Juri Vips for his use of the N-word during a video game livestream. The team announced Tuesday that Vips had been released after its investigation and said that it didn't condone any form of racism.

Over $200k Raised For Burger King Employee Who Got A 'Goodie Bag' For 27 Years Of Work

Kevin Ford, a Burger King employee, has received over $199,000 in donations on Go Fund Me after a video of a goodie bag he received on his 27th work anniversary went viral on Twitter.

According to the video posted earlier this month, Ford has worked as a cook and cashier at a Burger King in the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport for 27 years without missing a day.

He received a Starbucks cup, some candy and a single movie ticket in a clear plastic backpack from the burger chain’s parent company HMS Host, to show appreciation for his years of service.

Although Ford appreciated the gift, he told TMZ that he felt what he got didn’t quite measure up to the monetary gifts employees received before the pandemic.

Online, social media users criticized the gift bag as mediocre and not fitting to show appreciation for an employee of almost three decades, according to People.com.

Following the outpouring of support on social media, Ford’s daughter Seryna set up a GoFundMe page to recognize her father’s dedication to his job.

“My name is Seryna. The man in that video is my father. He has worked at his job for 27 years, and yes, he has never missed a day of work,” she wrote. “My dad continues to work here because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money, but if anyone feels like blessing him, he would love to visit his grandchildren.”

Ford’s story moved so many people that the fundraiser has exceeded its goal twice. In just seven days, over $202,157 has been raised as of this writing

NBC’s TODAY. “I just go to work and try to have fun and laugh and make other people’s day good. It’s like I’ve been in a dream for almost two days now. It’s just so beautiful and awesome. It really is.”

Burger King issued a statement to TODAY in response to the criticism stating that the company is committed to recognizing the achievements of its employees and the gift that Mr. Ford received was a “reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience.”

The company also says that it does offer its team members, “a robust employee recognition program, which includes the recognition of tenure milestones and monetary awards.”

An R. Kelly Supporter Was Arrested For Threatening Prosecutors In His New York Sex Trafficking Case

As outrageous as it sounds considering the laundry list of crimes for which R. Kelly was convicted, the disgraced R&B star still has plenty of hardcore fans — some much harder than others. According to Billboard, one who recently went way out of his way to show his support for Kelly was arrested after threatening federal prosecutors involved in Kelly’s New York case (his Chicago case is still pending). Bolingbrook, Illinois resident Christopher Gunn was arrested Saturday and faces up to five years in prison if he’s convicted.

Appearing in court yesterday, he was detained without bond. A detention hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, and the Department of Justice wants him moved to New York for trial. Gunn allegedly posted a video to his YouTube page flashing a photo of the prosecutors’ Brooklyn office building and sharing his plan to “storm” it. “[I]f you ain’t got the stomach for the shit we bout to do, I’m asking that you just bail out,” he says in the video. Prosecutors say Gunn also accepted payments via Cash App for ammunition, including transactions with messages such as “30 rounds on the haters.”

While there’s plenty of idle talk on social media, it appears that Gunn may have been planning to carry out his threats; a log book from the courthouse where Kelly’s trial was held contains Gunn’s signature on September 3, 2021. Incidentally, there’s no indication that Kelly actually knows Gunn, and there are all kinds of things you can say about that. According to court documents, Gunn is charged with “knowingly and intentionally transmit[ing] in interstate and foreign commerce communications containing threats … that would result in the death or serious bodily injury” of three Assistant US Attorneys who participated in Kelly’s prosecution.

Kelly, meanwhile, awaits sentencing after being found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking, with prosecutors recommending over 25 years in prison under the belief that if released sooner, he’d be up to his old tricks rather than reformed.

Serena Williams Speaks Out After Losing 'Insane and Intense' Wimbledon Match: 'Onward and Up'

Serena Williams is speaking out following her unexpected Wimbledon loss. After Harmony Tan of France defeated the tennis legend in her first singles match in a year, Williams, 40, opened up about her return to the courts on Instagram Tuesday, calling it “insane and intense.”

“Not the result I came for, but my goodness I enjoyed that,” she wrote in the caption alongside a picture of herself waving to the crowd. “I hope you did as well. Onward and up. ????”

Tuesday’s match came down to an epic tie-breaker after Tan, 24, and Williams competed for a total of three hours and 10 minutes. The game saw Williams struggle during the first set, which ended in Tan’s favor. But Williams came out strong in the second set with a dominant performance, winning 6-1.

The first-round defeat comes almost exactly one year after Williams suffered a hamstring tear that kept her from advancing past the first round.

After the 2021 match, Williams told BBC she felt her future was in doubt while recovering from the injury, which she sustained while facing Aliaksandra Sasnovich at Wimbledon in 2021.

Williams first teased an appearance at 2022 Wimbledon in an April post to her Instagram Story featuring Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“We’ve been talking about my comeback, and he’s been hyping me up and getting me ready for Wimbledon,” Williams told her followers of Rodgers, 38.

However, Williams noted that she had been taking her recovery “one day [at] a time.”

Tan will face Sara Sorribes Tormo, the 32nd-seeded player from Spain, in the second round.

Travis Barker Rushed to Hospital in Ambulance with Kourtney Kardashian by His Side

The Blink-182 drummer, 46, was photographed lying on a stretcher outside of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, while the reality star, 43, followed on foot.

The musician was seen being wheeled out of the ambulance while holding up his right hand up, which showed his unmistakable skull tattoo. Kardashian, for her part, was only seen from the back. She was in an all-black ensemble and had her hoodie up over her head.

Her security team followed closely behind in a black Range Rover, tailing the ambulance as they arrived at the hospital. Both vehicles apparently entered through the wrong area and were redirected by hospital personnel to a different entrance.

The couple first arrived at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center Tuesday morning for some sort of health issue Barker was experiencing, according to TMZ.

The outlet reports that the medical staff at West Hills felt the musician needed additional care, so he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai.

At 10:45 a.m. local time — seemingly amid his medical emergency — the rocker tweeted, “God save me.

Reps for Barker and Kardashian did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

It’s been a rocky few weeks of marriage for the lovebirds, as Kardashian just recently made a full recovery from her second stint with COVID-19.

Just over a month ago, the two said “I do” in their third and most lavish wedding ceremony in Portofino, Italy.

Meghan Markle Re-Files Motion to Dismiss Samantha Markle's Defamation Case Against Her

Meghan Markle has made a motion in the new defamation case that her half-sister, Samantha, has filed against her.

If you didn’t know, Samantha had re-filed her defamation case against the Duchess of Sussex and claimed that she was not being honest when discussing her past or their father, Thomas Markle.

Meghan had previously made a motion to dismiss the case, but it was denied by a judge. Now, she’s re-filed a dismissal.

Filed this week, Meghan is arguing that Samantha‘s claims are “meritless”, via US Weekly.

She alleges in her submission that Samantha “deleted numerous specific factual allegations and exhibits from her original complaint,” claiming that the facts would “completely undermine” Samantha’s case.

“Most obviously, her original complaint attached a 2018 email from Meghan to the then-Communications Secretary of Kensington Palace, Jason Knauf, that Plaintiff alleged was the basis for the allegedly defamatory statements in Finding Freedom,” the documents read. “However, the email on its face disproved Plaintiff’s claim that Meghan was somehow responsible for the authors’ allegedly defamatory statements in Finding Freedom.”

Her motion goes on, “Indeed, in her desperation to save her case, Plaintiff quite literally fabricated one of the statements, as evidenced by the missing interview transcript.”

Nutter Butter Apologizes After Tweeting ‘N Is For The Way You Nut At Me’

Looks like Nutter Butter is the latest company to receive backlash after they tweeted out a dirty joke on Twitter that had fans in an uproar.

On Monday Nutter Butter’s official Twitter account shared a tweet saying, “N is for the way you n*t at me.” The tweet quickly started to circulate on social media with a lot of upset fans which forced the company to release a public apology.

Nutter Butter unleashed a tweet today saying, “I’d like to address my nutty actions yesterday on Twitter dot com. While I would not go as far as to say I was out of character. It WAS an outdated song reference and that I apologize. As a cookie born in 1969, I have fond memories of Nat King Cole’s 1964 banger L-O-V-E. If there’s one thing on my mind it’s LOVE. This tweet was all out of love and I hope my gen Z audience can forgive me.”

“This took 6 weeks of planning, a combined effort of Nutter Butter creative and marketing, in-house counsel, outside consulting, social media rapid response team, ten interns, and a janitor who scrawled mysterious equations on a whiteboard. The CEO personally clicked ‘tweet,’ one Twitter user joked.

It isn’t the first time this year that a company trended on Twitter for their risky jokes. Back in April, Snickers received backlash on social media after photos surfaced on the internet implying the Mars Inc.-owned company “deveined” its classic treat so it would no longer be blatantly reminiscent of a penis.

Chadwick Boseman’s $2.3 Million Estate Set To Be Split Between His Widow And Parents

Chadwick Boseman’s $2.3 million estate will be split between his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, and his parents, Leroy and Carolyn, it has been reported. According to court documents, per Radar Online, Taylor requested that she receive 50% of the estate, which means she will inherit around $1.15 million.

Furthermore, she is also said to be getting reimbursed $47,000 for the funeral costs, $1,275 for flower arrangements, $9,500 for the venue, $7,495 for the cost of a mausoleum crypt, $22,000 for crypts for Chadwick’s parents when they are laid to rest next to him in the future, and $10,000 on other funeral expenses.

It was further mentioned that at the time of Chadwick’s passing in August 2020, the “Black Panther” star did not have a will set in stone, which meant that the legal fees the family amassed were much higher than if he had one in place. His initial estate was worth $3.8 million before numerous costs that had to be cleared.

As previously mentioned, Chadwick died in August 2020 following a four-year battle with stage three colon cancer, which, in the months leading up to his death, had progressed to stage four. He was first diagnosed back in 2016 and fought his way through filming “Black Panther,” which hit theaters in 2018.

Chadwick’s co-stars were unaware of his health condition at the time, so his death indeed came as a shock to not just his fans but also his work colleagues and friends. He died in his home with his wife and family members by his side.

Chadwick didn’t have any children, but he did leave behind brothers Kevin Boseman and Derrick Boseman.

In a statement made by his family at the time, they wrote, “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. “

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot yells "F*** Clarence Thomas" at Pride event

Over the weekend, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot yelled, “Fuck Clarence Thomas,” in front of an audience while attending a Pride event. The strong sentiment was seemingly a direct response to the Supreme Court’s decision to rule in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade last Friday (June 24).

In a viral video, Lightfoot began, “If you read Clarence Thomas’ concurrence,” before being cut off by someone in the crowd. While that person’s words weren’t easily heard in the audio, the mayor agreed. “Thank you. Fuck Clarence Thomas. He thinks that we are going to stand idly by while they take our rights – our right to marry – our right to have children – our right to live,” Lightfoot added.

The openly gay mayor’s words came after rumors that gay marriages could soon be overturned in addition to abortions rights which are under attack. Lightfoot doesn’t seem moved by any backlash she may have received from her comments. In a Twitter post from yesterday evening (June 27), she shared a photo of herself on stage at the event and captioned it, “I said what I said.” A man smiles for the photo from a distance while standing in the front row wearing a pink shirt that says “Fuck Clarence Thomas” in all caps. After local news outlet the Chicago Sun-Times tweeted an article about her choice of words, the mayor struck back. “If my language bothers you more than the destruction of our civil rights, then we don’t need to know anything else about you,” she responded.

Lightfoot isn’t the only public figure to receive attention for speaking out against the Supreme Court Justice. TV personality Martha Stewart recently referred to Thomas as “an old Black man who doesn’t know who he is” in a comment section of an Instagram post. “Time zones are crazy. In Australia it’s 9 a.m. In Rome it’s 1 a.m. And in America it’s 1942 where minorities and women are still controlled by old white men,” is what Stewart was responding to. Many users believed she was calling him an “Uncle Tom,” causing her comment to receive mixed reactions.

Jemele Hill opens up about previous abortion: "I've never regretted it"

After the decision made by the Supreme Court to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling, Jemele Hill joins the host of public figures who have spoken out against the news.

The Emmy Award-winning journalist opened up about her own experience getting an abortion at the age of 26, via The Atlantic. “I’ve never regretted it, and other women need the choice that I had,” she wrote.

“I had an abortion when I was 26 years old. I was not raped. I wasn’t the victim of incest,” she continued. “I was not in the midst of life-threatening medical emergency. I simply had no desire to give birth to a child.”

She revealed that she up until this point, she had never publicly shared her story. While she details the incident in her forthcoming memoir, Uphill, the 46-year-old shared that she felt the need to open up about her experience after being “disgusted” about the Supreme Court’s latest decision.

“I know that I’m likely to be attacked for being candid about my decision. But I’m choosing to share some of my experience now because, like so many women in this country, I am angry, appalled, and disgusted about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that previously guaranteed federal constitutional protections for abortion rights,” Hill wrote.

As previously reported, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade on June 24, thus removing federal constitutional rights for abortions. Now, the future of the medical procedure lies within state legislatures. The decision was determined in a 6-3 ruling.

Hill says that despite being “financially able to support a child,” she came to the conclusion after realizing she didn’t see a future with her partner at the time.

“I didn’t see a long-term future with him,” Hill expressed. “And given that my mother and father never married – and I knew their tumultuous history very well – I didn’t want to bring a child into an unstable relationship.”

Ariana Grande Stalker Arrested After Violating Restraining Order by Breaking Into Singer’s House on Her Birthday

Ariana Grande’s longtime stalker is back behind bars after reportedly breaking into the singer’s house on her 29th birthday.

TMZ reports Aharon Brown, who last September was charged with a felony brandishing after he pulled up to Grande’s house and threatened her security with a hunting knife, was once again arrested on Sunday after allegedly breaking into the singer’s home while she was away. A source told the outlet police showed up and apprehended Brown after Ariana’s security alarm was triggered.

Brown is currently in police custody after pleading not guilty to charges of stalking, burglary, damaging power lines, violation of a court order, and obstruction.

The stalker’s latest break-in arrives just days before he was scheduled to turn himself in for violating a previous restraining order that Grande filed against him last year. Back in September, Aharon was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for making criminal threats after showing up at the pop star’s home and flashing a knife at her security guards, while screaming, “I’ll fucking kill you and her.”

Johnny Depp’s Rep Addresses Claim of $300 Million ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Return Deal

In recent days, you’ve likely seen a claim about Johnny Depp returning to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, complete with a purported deal worth more than $300 million.

Tuesday, a rep for Depp addressed the report, telling People any such claims are indeed “false.” Of course, this was the expected outcome, as the apparent source for the cited claim is not reliable.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth entry in the larger Pirates film franchise, was released back in 2017. During a much-discussed defamation trial in May, Jack Whigham—an agent for Depp—testified that an op-ed published by Amber Heard was “extremely impactful” on the actor’s career.

According to Whigham, per the Associated Press, a verbal deal for nearly $23 million in connection with a sixth Pirates film was off the table following the op-ed’s 2018 publication.

The jury ultimately sided with Depp in the case. In a subsequent interview with Savannah Guthrie, Heard spoke about her concerns regarding the potential for additional legal action in the future. She also defended her decision to write the op-ed itself, stating she hadn’t intended for it to become solely about her relationship with Depp.

The Pirates franchise, meanwhile, is expected to continue. Earlier this year, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer gave an update on two scripts currently in development, though he noted Depp was “not at this point” involved. One of those scripts, as the filmmaker explained in an interview with the Sunday Times, had spurred talks with Margot Robbie.

Atlanta Man Arrested After Shooting Two Female Subway Workers Over ‘Too Much Mayo’ On Sandwich Order

Police arrested a customer who shot two Subway workers over his sandwich having “too much” mayonnaise.

Police officers in Atlanta are investigating an incident involving a male customer who shot two Subway employees over a botched sandwich order. The issue was there was too much mayo on the sandwich, WSBTV reports.

On Sunday, a little after 6:30 p.m., police responded to a Circle K gas station located at the intersection of Northside and Markham St. after receiving a call that someone had been shot. Deputy Police Chief Charles Hampton Jr. said the male customer “could not resolve the conflict,” and it led to the shooting.

“There was something wrong with the sandwich that made him so upset that he decided to take out his anger on two of the employees,” Hampton said, The Washington Post reports.

Police learned that two women were shot after an issue over a food order. One of the women was 26-year-old Brittany Macon, who was killed. The other female worker was a 24-year-old worker who was shot in front of her 5-year-old son. The 24-year-old is in critical condition, the news outlet reports.

A third worker fired shots at the gunman. A 36-year-old man – who hasn’t been identified – was arrested downtown after someone called in with a tip.

Detroit Mother Facing Slew Of Charges After Blind Three-Year-Old Son Was Found In Freezer

A Detroit mother is facing charges in the gruesome death of her blind 3-year-old son, who was found dead inside a freezer.

On Friday, Child Protective Services employees were contacted by an individual concerned about the children of Azuradee France. As a result, three police officers responded to France’s home. While speaking with officers, France acted oddly and was eager for officers to leave. They remained in the house, and during the encounter, the officers located the body of toddler Chayce Allen, decomposing inside a freezer in the home’s basement. The child had gone blind a year earlier.

France had a history of child abuse. When Allen was just two months old, he was sent to live with his aunt Tyshanna France after his mother lost custody of her six children.

“She should have never gotten her kids back after that,” says Azvante Sauls, France’s sister.

Sauls had not seen Allen since last summer. She says the condition of the child during that encounter caused her and her family to intervene. They called CPS and the police department multiple times but were always told that there was nothing that they could do. When Allen was burned last month, CPS got involved and was supposed to do regular three-month check-ups. However, Sauls said they never followed through.

Toni Haynes, France’s mother, is outraged at her daughter’s actions.

“No, that’s not my daughter. I brought a monster into this world and didn’t even know it,” Haynes said.

Allen’s death has been ruled a homicide, though it is unclear how long he’d been in the freezer. France has now been charged with first-degree child abuse, torture, and concealing death charges. She will also face murder charges.

Son of TikTok Star 'Mama Tot' Was Selling Marijuana Before He Was Fatally Shot, Police Say

Police are sharing more details after the son of Ophelia Nichols — known on TikTok as Mama Tot — was shot and killed at a local Prichard, Alabama, gas station.

Prichard Detective Jason Hadaway said in a press conference, captured by Fox10 News, on Monday that the victim, Randon Lee, and the suspect approached the gas pumps at the same time.

One suspect — who was in a black car — then got inside of Lee’s car, and one shot was fired shortly after, according to Hadaway, who added that the suspect then exited Lee’s vehicle, got back into the black car and left.

In an attempt to “escape” the gunman, Lee pulled out of the gas station, crossed Saint Stephens Road and went to another station, where he stopped, Hadaway said. EMS was then alerted and attempted to perform life-saving measures; however, Lee died. He was 18 years old.

Hadaway added that Lee “was selling narcotics” to two people. “There was narcotics found in the vehicle when the crime scene unit processed the scene,” he said.

He said there are “a couple of suspects in mind” but authorities aren’t giving any additional information at this time. He could not reveal if police suspect anyone other than the gunman is involved, but said that authorities are aware Lee sold drugs to other individuals. This was the first time he was in Prichard, to police’s knowledge, Hadaway said, confirming that Lee was selling marijuana.

“This homicide is not more important than any homicide we’ve had in the city of Prichard or actually anywhere,” Hadaway said. “I realize that Ms. Nichols has a TikTok following which is great, and all those followers could help by calling in if they have any information.”

The Prichard Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Lee’s mother has 7.5 million followers on her TikTok profile, @shoelover99. In a heartbreaking TikTok video, Nichols emotionally pleaded for help.

“There’s almost 7 million people that follow me. Somebody’s gotta know something,” she said between tears. “Today would’ve been my baby child’s 19th birthday. But he was took from me last night. Took from my children and my husband, from my family.”

“My son was murdered. He was shot,” she continued in part, adding that there is “hatred in my heart that I don’t recognize. I’ve never felt hate for anybody. This individual took my son’s life. He was just 18 years old, that’s part of somebody’s life. And I know they’re out there … They’re out there living and breathing when my son’s dead.”

In a follow-up video, she said, “Through this process we’ve found out a lot of stuff … a lot of stuff we just didn’t know. When your children live out on their own and pay their own bills and they have a good job … it just don’t cross your mind that they would be doing anything to get themselves into trouble.”

“We’ve been told that the detectives think that marijuana was being [dealt]. My son was meeting there, and either they tried to rob him or they did rob him, but he was shot,” said Nichols.

She added that her son struggled with depression and “had a lot of trouble” after his father died; however, many of their loved ones thought he was back on track because he was “doing so good” within the last year.

“We just had a birthday dinner for him. We were all telling him how proud we were of him… just had no idea. He comes from good people, and he comes from a good family and a good home. But sometimes that just don’t matter, you know.” She added that “nobody [has] the right to shoot my son. That’s all I know right now.”

“It’s people involved, not a person,” she concluded.

In the comment section, she also wrote, “We do believe we know who it was. Can’t say names yet BUT I believe the lord will make a way for Justice.”
