The Golden State Warriors eliminates Boston Celtics for fourth NBA title in eight years
BOSTON -- For the fourth time in eight years, the Golden State Warriors have been crowned champions, as they eliminated the Celtics 103-90 on Thursday night in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
The Warriors won their first title since 2018 and became the first team to go from the NBA's worst record to a championship in a three-season span. They were a league-worst 15-50 in 2019-20. Golden State also became just the second team in NBA history to win a championship on Boston's home court, joining the 1985 Los Angeles Lakers.
Stephen Curry wrapped up Finals MVP honors, scoring 34 points on 12-of-21 shooting in Game 6, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range. He added seven assists, seven rebounds and two steals.
But Thursday night's title-clinching win was a display of the Warriors' depth and the number of players who could step up on any given night.
Draymond Green played his best game of the series, scoring 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting, grabbing 12 rebounds, recording eight assists with two steals and two blocks. He also hit two 3-pointers after missing his first 12 attempts of the series. He struggled on the other end, however. With Green as the primary defender, the Celtics shot 9-of-17 from the floor.
Andrew Wiggins continued his strong series, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks. Jordan Poole added 15 points off the bench, while Klay Thompson scored 12. Gary Payton II had just six points, but finished with a plus-18 net rating.
Up to this point, the Warriors had struggled to close out series this postseason. Heading into Game 6, Golden State was 0-3 in closeout games on the road, and the Celtics were 3-0 when facing elimination.
Early on, it looked as though both were destined for the same fate, as Boston jumped out to a 14-2 lead four minutes in. But what transpired over the next nine minutes defined the game, ultimately bringing the Warriors to their seventh double-digit comeback win this postseason. That's tied for the most by any team in the past 25 postseasons (the 2011 and 2012 Miami Heat both had seven).
With about a minute and a half left in the first quarter, Green hit his first 3-pointer of the series to pull the Warriors within one. Curry followed with a 3-pointer to give the Warriors' their first lead. Poole put the icing on this sequence with a 29-foot 3-pointer on the next trip.
The Warriors outscored the Celtics 35-8 from the middle of the first quarter into the middle of the second, including a 21-0 run that lasted four minutes.
As the Warriors continued their aerial surge, the Celtics fans that made TD Garden one of the hardest arenas to play in sunk quietly into their seats, and the travelling fans in blue and gold became louder and bolder.
The Celtics made several pushes. Late in the third quarter, they even cut the Warriors' lead to nine.
Boston continued making timely shots in the fourth, keeping itself within arm's length. But the Celtics could get no closer than that. The Warriors forced stops, then kept hitting shots, and when it was time to put the Celtics away, they did.
The Warriors stormed the court as time expired, with players such as Curry, Green and Thompson finally getting back the feeling they had experienced many times before, while younger players such as Wiggins, Poole and Payton II experienced it for the first time.
It was a full circle moment for Golden State, which won its first title since 2018 and fourth since Steve Kerr became head coach in 2014-15.
Two years after questions about their dynasty rose, the Warriors proved they're still a force. After missing the playoffs for two straight seasons, they are champions again. After having the league's worst record two years ago, they are the best team in the NBA.
#RHOA: Kandi Burruss Claps Back After Marlo Hampton Calls Her A ‘Ho’
Kandi Burruss, 46, has spoken out about June 12’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, during which Marlo Hampton, 44, called her a “ho” who slept around for “free” and viciously criticized her. “[Marlo] started bringing up my past and tried to figure out people that I’ve dated or whatever she had to say about me … and I’m like, ‘Um ma’am, let’s not,’” Burruss said of her candid reaction on June 14’s episode of Access Hollywood’s “Housewives Nightcap” segment. “Let’s not do that. Because some of the things the ladies were saying, I could clearly go all the way in to say about them, okay? But we just going to leave it at that.”
Kandi also responded to comments made by Marlo that she “dates beneath her tax bracket,” which co-star Sheree Whitfield, 52, seemed to agree with because she simply nodded her head as Marlo was speaking. “Uh, Sheree, you just got dissed by a man that just got out of prison, honey. Clearly if that’s not below your tax bracket. He ain’t paying taxes in years! So I’m confused. How are you amen-ing what she’s saying in your situation? I’m confused.”
As previously reported, Sheree and Marlo walked out of a Jamaican dinner party hosted by Sanya Richards-Ross, 36, to discuss their issues with both Kandi and Kenya Moore, 51, which resulted in a trash-talking session. Sheree was mad at Kandi for not calling her and seeing how she was doing after she got stood up by longtime boyfriend Tyrone, and Marlo was furious with Kenya because Kenya said she felt too sick to attend her shindig the night before, but felt well enough to attend Sheree’s soiree.
Marlo didn’t just make mean comments about Kandi. She also claimed that Kenya is a “ho” who only gets rejected by the men she attempts to attract. While Sheree never said the word “ho”, she agreed with Marlo and said the words she was speaking are “facts”.
Kandi concluded her clap back by denouncing both Sheree and Marlo for talking behind her back. “The two played, lame ladies of the group, y’all, joining forces against me? Oh ok, great,” she quipped.
It’s only a matter of days before fans get to see if anything else comes of Marlo and Sheree’s rude rendezvous. The next episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sunday at 8pm on Bravo.

#HipHopNews: Megan Thee Stallion Wants Tory Lanez To Go To Jail For Shooting
Megan Thee Stallion wants to see Tory Lanez behind bars.
The Houston rapper graces the cover of Rolling Stone for the first time. In the interview, she recounts the infamous evening of July 11, 2020 when she left Kylie Jenner’s pool party with Lanez and her former best friend, Kelsey Harris, before an argument broke out in the car. When Megan got out of the vehicle, Lanez allegedly shouted “Dance, bitch!” and began shooting at her.
She cried as she recounted the events. “I thought we had a real connection,” she said, sharing that she and Lanez had bonded over the mutual loss of their mothers. “I thought he knew me. And I never would’ve thought he would’ve shot at me at all.”
Lanez was charged with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and another for carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He has pleaded not guilty and will face Megan in court when the case goes to trial in September.
“I want him to go to jail,” Megan said of her alleged attacker, who faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted. “I want him to go under the jail.”
After the shooting, Megan was taken to the hospital to have bullet fragments removed from both of her feet. “What nobody knows is, I had to get the surgery the same night. I stayed in the hospital in California for maybe four days,” she revealed. “Then I was in New York for a while. Both of my legs wrapped up. I could not walk. I still have bullet fragments in my feet right now. I was very scared that I was not able to be Megan Thee Stallion no more. And I was fu**ed up.”
She previously told Gayle King that Lanez offered her and Harris “a million dollars” to keep quiet. Harris allegedly met with Lanez at a hotel less than two days after the shooting. “This girl told me out her mouth, ‘He told me, “Oh, thank you for not saying nothing. Now let me invest in your business. Let me do this. Let me do that,'” recalled Meg. “And all I know was, from that day on, she never said nothing else about the whole situation online.”
Lanez has alluded to a sexual relationship with Megan, which she once again denied. “That man was never my ex. You were never my man,” she said.
In the wake of the incident, the “Plan B” rapper has faced backlash and her version of the night’s events have been discounted. “In some kind of way I became the villain,” said Meg, who limits herself to 15 minutes a day on social media. “I see people saying, ‘Damn, I would’ve shot that bitch too.'”
She still lives with the trauma from the incident, but knows that she will get through it. “Right now we’re going through some dark things. You are built for this,'” she tells herself. “‘God must got something good planned for you, because I don’t think he’ll put you through this if he wasn’t going to give you your reward at the end.”

You shouldn’t be waiting around for any mini-Zendayas to pop up anytime soon!
Today famed actress Zendaya, 25, took to her Instagram stories to shut down pregnancy rumors that recently surfaced. According to reports, speculation that Zendaya is pregnant started after a social media user created a TikTok video alluding that the “Euphoria” star announced her pregnancy online. The short video clip features a sonogram that has been edited to look like it was posted on Zendaya’s official IG page.
Despite the video somewhat being believable, Zendaya wasted no time in letting the world know the image is fake. She shared online,

Kenan Thompson Files for Divorce from Estranged Wife Christina Evangeline
Kenan Thompson has officially filed for divorce. The Saturday Night Live star filed paperwork in May to end his marriage of 11 years to Christina Evangeline, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
Per TMZ, the sealed filing includes a request for a 50/50 custody split for daughters Georgia Marie, 7, and Gianna Michelle, 3.
In April, TMZ was also first to report news that couple had split. A source told the publication that Thompson, 43, and Evangeline, 33, separated close to a year ago, though they didn't file paperwork at the time.
The pair wed in a 2011 ceremony at the Georgia Aquarium. Seven years later when they welcomed Gianna, Thompson opened up to PEOPLE about parenthood.
"Kids are hilarious," he said. "They say the darndest things, but that's just because they don't really know what they're saying, and that just makes much more funniness happen."
Thompson and Evangeline have kept most of their relationship out of the public eye, despite Thompson's TV stardom. Even his sitcom Kenan, which fictionalized his life, positioned Thompson as a widow — a plot point that Thompson joked Evangeline "didn't love."
He told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in April: "She was like, 'Oh, so I'm dead?' But, I mean, she was just giving me a hard time. "But I was like, 'Yeah ... it's not you, you know what I mean? It's a show. It's a different thing.'"
He added, "My wife, thank God she's still with me."
Biden signs executive order to combat anti-LGBTQ legislation
President Joe Biden issued an executive order to stymie what his administration calls discriminatory legislative attacks on the LGBTQ community by Republican-controlled states.
WASHINGTON -- President Joe Biden issued an executive order Wednesday to stymie what his administration calls discriminatory legislative attacks on the LGBTQ community by Republican-controlled states, declaring before a signing ceremony packed with activists, "pride is back at the White House."
The order seeks to discourage "conversion therapy" - a discredited practice that aims to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity - while also promoting gender-affirming surgery and expanding foster care protections for gay and transgender parents and children.
Tapping money already allocated to federal agencies rather than requiring new funding, Biden said the order is meant to counter 300-plus anti-LGBTQ laws introduced by state lawmakers over the past year alone. The Department of Health and Human Services will draft new policies to expand care to LGBTQ families and the Education Department will devise rules to better protect LGBTQ students in public schools.
The president, first lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris attended a crowded reception in the White House's East Room, where the adjacent hallway was decorated in rainbow colors. Attending were LGBTQ activists, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress, and top administration officials, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who adopted twins with his husband, Chasten.
The gathering is part of the Biden administration's recognition of Pride Month.
"All of you in this room know better than anyone that these attacks are real and consequential for real families," the president said before sitting to sign the order. He pointed specifically to the arrest last weekend of 31 members of the white supremacist group Patriot Front near an Idaho pride event.
Actions listed within the order attempt to bolster programs better addressing the issue of suicide among LGBTQ children and seek to make adoptions easier for LGBTQ parents and children.
"It shouldn't take courage to be yourself," said Jill Biden, who noted that it was a little too hot and humid in summer sun-drenched Washington to hold the event on the South Lawn. "We know that, in places across the country like Florida or Texas or Alabama, rights are under attack. And we know that in small towns and big cities, prejudice, and discrimination still lurk."
Among the state laws, the White House has opposed is the so-called "Don't Say Gay" measure in Florida, which was signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in March. It bars instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Critics say it marginalizes LGBTQ people, and the law sparked a public battle between the state and the Walt Disney Co.
Biden's action creates a federal working group to help combat LGBTQ homeless and one promoting educational policies for states and school districts that encourage inclusive learning environments for LGBTQ children. His order also establishes new rules to discourage conversion therapy, though efforts to enforce bans against it in places where state law allows the practice will rely on legal challenges from outside the White House.
While some Republican-led legislatures have championed conversion therapy, other states and communities have banned it. The American Psychological Association says conversion therapy is not based on science and is harmful to a participant's mental health.
The order further directs health officials to spell out that federally funded programs cannot be used to fund conversion therapy. And it seeks to ease barriers to health care and certain types of treatment for the LGBTQ community, including gender-affirming surgery.
That follows Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's February order directing Texas' child welfare agency to investigate reports of gender-confirming care for kids as abuse. A judge has since issued a restraining order that halted investigations into three families and prevented others.
"We have a lot more work to do," Biden said. "In Texas, knocking on front doors to harass and investigate parents who are raising transgender children. In Florida, going after Mickey Mouse for God's sake."
In earlier orders, Biden has sought to direct that gay and transgender people are protected from discrimination in schools, health care, housing and at work. He ordered federal agencies to update and expand regulations prohibiting sexual discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity and reversed a ban on transgender people serving in the military.
Biden on Wednesday also renewed his calls for Congress to pass the Equality Act, which would amend existing civil rights law to explicitly include sexual orientation and gender identification as protected characteristics. The measure has been stalled on Capitol Hill but the president said it's necessary to "enshrine the long-overdue civil rights protections of all Americans, every American."
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser calls for city's statehood with 51-star flags
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is standing ten toes down on her belief that the citizens of the nation’s capital deserve to be recognized as a state. Several 51-star flags were hung along Pennsylvania Avenue on Monday (June 13), WUSA9 reports.
According to Mayor Bowser, the flags represent the inclusion of her city as one of the governing states in America. She also noted that “700,000 tax-paying American citizens” in the District deserve to be properly acknowledged.
“I directed our team to hang 51-star flags along Pennsylvania Avenue as a reminder to Congress and the nation that the 700,000 tax-paying American citizens living in Washington, D.C. demand to be recognized,” said Bowser in a statement. “On Flag Day, we celebrate American ideals, American history, and American liberty. But the very foundation of those ideals, and the basis for our liberty, is representation. DC’s disenfranchisement is a stain on American democracy – a 220-year-old wrong that demands to be righted. The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed the Washington, D.C. Admission Act, and now the U.S. Senate must do the same.”
In 1916, former President Woodrow Wilson, declared June 14 as Flag Day. By 1949, it became an official holiday through an Act of Congress.
As a Federal District, Washington, D.C. is under U.S government jurisdiction, thus operating as municipality.Because the city does not have the full authority to govern itself , Bowser says this impacts citizens nationwide, not just in the District.
“As Americans nationwide brace for a decision on the future of Roe v. Wade, we are also reminded that D.C.’s disenfranchisement impacts not just Americans living in D.C., but Americans nationwide who share our values,” she continued. “While the stakes are even higher for Washingtonians, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the majority of Americans who believe in a woman’s right to choose. We also stand shoulder to shoulder with the majority of Americans demanding common sense gun reforms, and with the majority of Americans who want to build a more inclusive democracy.”
Turning Washington, D.C. into a state has been a yearslong battle. According to Democratic lawmakers, residents in the District have unequal rights in comparison to those located in the 50 states.
Netflix and Mo'Nique reach agreement in discrimination lawsuit
After years of legal arguments, Netflix and Mo’Nique have both agreed to drop the lawsuit filed by the legendary comedian accusing the company of discrimination and retaliation.
After she was approached by the streaming giant for a comedy special in 2017, Mo’Nique determined that the offer on the table did not reflect the amount paid to some of her counterparts in the industry. Instead, she revealed the details of the agreement and questioned the amount that was volunteered.
Not only did the Phat Girlz actress walk away from the $500,000 that Netflix initially offered, but she took to social media to reveal more details of what was at stake. According to her, the company wanted full control of the project and to maintain full copyright and audio-only rights for the special.
After her public complaints, Netflix took the offer off of the table and it was then that Mo’Nique moved forward with a lawsuit claiming that they refused to negotiate with the veteran comedian for a better deal. She also claimed both race and gender bias played a factor in the initial negotiations.
During her very vocal allegations, Mo’Nique called out Netflix for offering fellow comedians like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock roughly eight figures in comparison to what she was offered.
Another entertainer, Amy Schumer, reportedly received a similar amount, which furthered the 54-year-old’s suspicion that she was lowballed because she is a Black woman.
The news comes a little over two months since Mo’Nique and Lee Daniels ended a yearslong feud after she alleged the director blackballed her, thus preventing her from landing gigs within the industry. Per past arguments, the move came after she refused to promote their 2009 film, Precious.
Although both Netflix and Mo’Nique agreed to dismiss the suit, further details surrounding the case have not been disclosed.
White police officer who texted racist George Floyd memes gets jail time
James Watts, a white cop from the West Mercia Police Department in the United Kingdom, will spend 20 weeks in jail after sending racist text messages mocking the death of George Floyd.
Yesterday (June 14), Sky News reported that the 31-year-old married father of one shared “grossly offensive” messages in a group chat with former colleagues at a Warwickshire prison while serving at the police department.
Watts’ charge came after about 10 memes sent in May and June 2020 were discovered by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
According to testimony in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court, the messages included a meme of a kneeling mat with Floyd’s face printed on it and a white dog wearing Ku Klux Klan clothing.
There were also images of Floyd’s death featuring pictures of George of the Jungle and the children’s game “Guess Who?” reports add.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram condemned Watts’ actions, saying, “no doubt you would have received training in relation to diversity and inclusion in that role,” according to BBC News.
Watts pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to 10 counts of sending a grossly offensive or menacing message by a public communication network. He reportedly admitted in interviews that his messages were racist in nature.
Although he resigned during the investigation, Watts has also been added to the College of Policing’s barred list, which prohibits him from policing across the country for life.

Ezra Miller Deletes Instagram Account After Seemingly Mocking Courts for Not Locating Them
Ezra Miller has reportedly deleted their Instagram account after posting some memes that seemingly responded to the latest controversy.
For those who don’t know, Ezra is the subject of a new court filing after they were accused of being a danger to an 18-year-old environmental activist. It was alleged that they supplied the young person with alcohol, marijuana, and LSD. The activist’s parents filed an order to keep the actor away from them.
It was also reported this week that Ezra‘s location is unknown and that the courts have not been able to locate them to serve the papers.
TheDirect.com reports that Ezra posted several memes on their Instagram Stories that seemingly were in response to the court filing.
One meme read, “you cannot touch me, I am in another universe.” Another read, “message from another dimension.”
Another meme featured a person vomiting along with the caption, “me remembering how I was nice when I should have said who the f–k do u think you’re talking to.”
The longest message shared by Ezra read, “I am shielded from negative people & their ill intent. My spirit, mind, body, soul + success are not altered by anyone’s envy. I am protected from all negative [illegible] people attempt to throw at me. Subconsciously & consciously. I clear any & all hidden peers who are hidden enemies.”
It has been reported that the account (@ezra._x_.aradia) was shut down after the messages were posted.
Andy Cohen apologizes after revealing Kyle Richards recently had plastic surgery
It was an eventful night on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen: After Show, Wednesday, when the Real Housewives producer spilled some secret tea. Cohen was speaking with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Kyle Richards, when he accidentally revealed that she had plastic surgery three weeks ago.
“How’s the breast reduction surgery working out?” Cohen asked near the top of the after show.
“Thanks for letting everybody know Andy,” Richards replied. “Thank you… I’m just gonna say this, I never told anybody.”
Cohen repeatedly apologized for revealing the television personality's secret. Even though she’s still recovering, the mother of four has no regrets.
“I never had implants,” Richards explained. “I had double D’s, no implants. I still don’t have implants but I went in and I said, ‘I want smaller boobs. I don’t ever want to wear a bra in my life again.’ And here I am.”
While the moment was embarrassing for everyone, Richards was a pretty good sport about it, saying, “I can’t wait to share more things with you tomorrow.”
Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen airs Sunday to Thursday on Bravo.
Bradley Cooper reflects on drug and alcohol addiction — and the conversation with Will Arnett that made him realize he had a problem
Bradley Cooper revealed a particularly important conversation that he had years ago with his actor friend Will Arnett when he appeared on Monday's episode of Wondery's SmartLess podcast, which is hosted by Arnett and two of their friends and fellow actors, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.
Cooper explained that it took place in 2004, when he was living next to the former Arrested Development star, whose sarcastic sense of humor he always tried to emulate. The two had gone to dinner with another friend the previous night, and Arnett asked Cooper how he thought the night had gone. Cooper recalls that he had felt great about it, especially since he had been so funny during it — at least in his own mind — but Arnett's take was quite different. He told Cooper, "You were a real a******," and he admonished him for not having taken his dogs out for a walk. At that point, it was 4 p.m., and the dogs were standing by the door.
"And that was, like, the first time I ever realized I had a problem with drugs and alcohol," Cooper said. "And it was Will saying that to me, and I’ll just never forget it."
In addition to his realization about his addictions, Cooper said it forced him to see that this phony, aloof persona he tried to put on wasn't working. He understood that, really, what it all had been about was his lack of self-esteem and trying to fit in.
"I was so lost," he said. "I was so lost, and I was addicted to cocaine — that was the other thing."
To make matters worse, he had severed his Achilles tendon after he, in his words, "got fired-slash-quit Alias" in 2003.
Cooper had moved to Los Angeles for his role in the Jennifer Garner drama on ABC, and he found himself feeling like he was "back in high school. I could not get into any clubs, no girls wanted to really look at me. I was totally depressed."
So, yes, he was struggling. The upside is that, by the time he starred in 2009 hit The Hangover — he was 36 then — he had already been through the cliched experiences of people who are finally succeeding in the entertainment industry.
"But Will is the reason," Cooper said, "he took that risk of having that hard conversation with me, in like July of 2004, that put me on a path of deciding to change my life."
Bateman asked how fatherhood has changed Cooper, who shares 5-year-old daughter Lea with his former partner, model Irina Shayk.
"Every single thing is absolutely shaded by, or brought into glorious colors, by the fact that I get to be a father to a wonderful human being," said Cooper, whose latest project is directing and starring in Maestro, in which he plays the late composer Leonard Bernstein. "You have this wonderful thing or breakthrough with a script, or you have a wonderful moment on this set or in an editing room … you have like 40 of those moments every day with your kid, that are that level of joy. That's not spinning it, that's just the truth."
Eric Holder Trial Begins for Allegedly Killing Nipsey Hussle – Amid Debate Over Premeditation
*Eric Holder is standing trial for the murder of #NipseyHussle, and on Wednesday, prosecutors began to reveal terrifying details about the tragic incident.
According to @TMZ_tv, Deputy District Attorney John McKinney addressed the jury Wednesday, detailing Holder’s alleged actions following Nipsey’s death. McKinney alleged that after Eric gunned Nipsey down in the parking lot of his ‘Marathon’ clothing store, he walked over to the rapper and kicked him in the head.
Holder allegedly addressed Nipsey saying, “You are through,” and Nipsey responded with, “You got me,” before the gunman fled the scene.
Holder was indicted on one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Holder faces up to life in prison if convicted as charged. He has pleaded not guilty.
Deputy District Attorney John McKinney told the jury Wednesday … after Holder gunned down Nipsey in a Crenshaw parking lot, Holder walked over to Nispey’s bullet-riddled body and kicked him in the head.
McKinney told the jury, Holder’s kick to Nipsey’s head shows it was a personal attack … while Holder’s public defender is trying to frame the case as something that happened in the heat of the moment.
Gas Station Manager Fired After 69-Cent Gas Mistake
*The manager of a California gas station who set fuel prices at 69 cents per gallon has been fired over the costly mistake.
We reported previously that the glitch had locals lining up for miles at a Shell gas station on Sunrise Boulevard and White Rock Road in Rancho Cordova. The glitch lasted about three hours.
John Szczecina, who worked at a station, said he accidentally put a decimal in the wrong spot, causing the gas price to be 69 cents instead of $6.99, according to CBS station KOVR.
“This is a nightmare,'” Szczecina said. “I put all three prices on there except the diesel, but the last one kind of didn’t go, you know, right.”
The pricing error reportedly cost the gas station $16,000, according to a GoFundMe set up by his family to help pay back the gas station owners.
“So I just took responsibility for it and I said, ‘Yeah it’s my fault, and I’m to blame,'” he said.
Szczecina is worried the owners of the gas station will sue him. However, business attorney Craig Simmermon says employees are protected from liability in cases like this.
“The only way he would be responsible outside of a written agreement is if he was acting outside the scope of his employment,” Simmermon said. “For instance, if his boss said ‘whatever you do, don’t ever set the price on that gas pump,’ and then he did.”
Tyler Perry Donating $500,000 To The Apollo Theater
Tyler Perry announced that he’s gifting The Apollo Theater with a $500,000 donation after Whoopi Goldberg presented him with the Impact Award at the theater’s spring benefit.
“I want to say thank you… when you are honored by a legacy, a history that is as rich as the Apollo, you have to honor that,” he said.
The famous theater has helped launch many careers of some of the biggest acts, including Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, Lauryn Hill, and Stephanie Mills.
Perry said to the crowd, “remember the history, and on this stage, and in this building, there have been some legends… don’t ever take this place for granted.”
“I’d like to give a half-million to make sure this place continues to grow and thrive,” he explained. “Give it up for the Apollo.”
The $500,000 donation contributed to a record-breaking $3.7 million raised during their spring gala, presented by “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kenan Thompson
Buffalo Supermarket Shooter Charged with Federal Hate Crimes
The white gunman that killed 10 Black people at a Tops grocery store in Buffalo, New York, was charged with federal hate crimes and could have the death penalty if convicted.
Payton Gendron opened fire in a predominantly Black area at Tops on May 14. He documented the moments leading up to the racist attack leading up to his violent rampage. Gendron already faces a mandatory life sentence without parole if he is convicted.
AP News reports the federal hate crimes charge is based partly on documents in which the shooter laid out his racist views and plan for the attack.
Gendron drove more than 200 miles from his home to carry out his attack in Buffalo. The 18-year-old fired off approximately 60 shots while wearing body armor and live-streamed the rampage.
His rifle had names of other people who carried out mass shootings, racist slurs, and sayings. He surrendered to the police upon exiting the grocery store.
FBI agents executed a search warrant at Gendron’s home, where they found a note from Gendron apologizing to his family for the shooting. He stated that he “had to commit this attack” because he fears “for the future of the White race,” which contributes to “The Great Replacement Theory.”
Agents also found a receipt for a candy bar from the grocery store from March 8 and also a layout of the store in an online diary.
AP News continues, “In his writings, Gendron embraced a baseless conspiracy theory about a plot to diminish white Americans’ power and “replace” them with people of color, through immigration and other means.”
“He has pleaded not guilty to a state domestic terrorism charge, including hate-motivated domestic terrorism and murder.”
