#RHOA: Phaedra Parks Explains Why Her Kids Have ‘Never’ Watched ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’!
Not even once! Phaedra Parks was on the Real Housewives of Atlanta for seven years and has never let her kids watch an episode.
“Never. That’s not child-appropriate,” Parks, 47, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting Coresight Research’s 10.10 Shopping Festival, which takes place on Sunday, October 10.
Parks shares sons Ayden, 11, and Dylan, 8, with ex-husband Apollo Nida. “I don’t think it was created for children and so I don’t know if any responsible parent allows their child to watch those types of shows,” the Atlanta attorney continued. “I mean, there’s maybe six [or] seventh graders, [but] I don’t even know that. Maybe high schoolers can watch it, but I would never allow my kids to watch the Housewives ’cause it’s too adult.”
Parks was a cast member on the show from seasons 3 to 9 and departed in 2017 after her controversial exit. Fast forward four years later, RHOA fans are in for a surprise. As Us previously revealed, the reality star will be returning to season 2 of the Real Housewives mashup series on Peacock, which was filmed in September.
Despite not seeing their mom on TV, Parks’ sons — both of whom made appearances on RHOA — still understand that she’s famous.
“To be honest, I think it’s second nature to them because … you know, of course, they were both born on television and people see them,” Parks told Us. “At first they thought I just knew everyone in the world in the grocery store. They’re like, ‘Mom, how do you know these people?’ … I’m very cordial to anyone that usually approaches me. [My sons] always witnessed it. Now, they realize like, ‘Oh, these people don’t know you. They just watch the TV show.’ So they see my memes and, you know, their friends are like, ‘Oh my God, your mom is famous!’ And so, [they are] very tickled by it.”
A few months after Season 13 of RHOA finished airing in May, both Porsha Williams and Cynthia Bailey announced they won’t be returning to the show. Parks mentioned to Us that she spoke to both housewives “a couple of days ago.”
“Nothing surprises me,” she said of the news that Williams and Bailey were leaving. Parks keeps in touch with all of her costars — except one.
She added, “I don’t speak to Kandi [Burruss], but everyone else — I’m very friendly with them.”
Keeping her friendships intact, Parks, who will make her acting debut on Covenant (a four-part anthology series premiering on Allblk on Thursday, October 14), says she “just spoke” to Nene Leakes, who is grieving the loss of her husband Gregg Leakes.
“This is a very difficult time and so, if I can make her laugh — and I try to send her funny stuff and tell her about funny stuff to make her laugh — and you know, this morning she was laughing,” Parks shared. “So if she’s laughing, I think I’m being a great friend to her because she has plenty of moments where she is distraught and in tears because losing Gregg was life-changing for her. They’ve been together forever and he adored her so much. And so, I think that’s a once-in-a-lifetime type of love.”
Parks continued, “I’ve been very, very intentional with her during this time to make sure that she knows that I’m going to support her and anything she needs, I will make sure that I’m there for it … I just know every day there will be a struggle and I don’t know how long her grief will last, but, I mean, it’s definitely not an overnight process.”
In between making time for her friends and juggling work duties, the mom of two is busy at home with her third and sixth graders. On October 10, she’ll be participating in Coresight Research’s 10.10 Shopping Festival, which includes exclusive deals and discounts for consumers while also giving money to various charities.
“I’m excited to be shopping for the holidays in advance,” she said. “I’m excited to get a head start on holiday shopping for my kids and myself and family and friends … but [I’m] also very stoked about shopping for a purpose and being able to have some of the money benefit organizations that I really love.”
Participating retailers and brands will be donating a minimum of 5 percent of sales to partnering charities, including the American Heart Association, Delivering Good, National Breast Cancer Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Eminem returned fire with a lightweight jab on the Music To Be Murdered By: Side B cut “Zeus” when he rapped, “As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me/But just not in my camp/And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be/Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me/Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me/Meh, not really (haha)/I had dog backwards.”
In December 2020, Eminem explained why Snoop Dogg’s comments bothered him so much.
“Everything he said, by the way, was fine, up to a point,” Em explained around the 30-minute mark. “Him saying I’m not in his Top 10 because there are some rappers in the ’90s I can’t fuck with…A: Him saying Dre made the best version of me, absolutely, why would I have a problem with that? Would I be here without Dre? Fuck no, I wouldn’t. The rappers he mentioned from the ‘90s — KRS One, Big Daddy Kane, [Kool] G Rap — I’ve never said I could fuck with them. I never said that.”
He continued, “I think it was more about the tone he was using that caught me off-guard ’cause I’m like, where is this coming from? I just saw you, what the fuck? It threw me for a loop. Again, I probably could’ve gotten past the whole tone and everything, but it was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that shit.’ Now you’re being disrespectful. But Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s momentary rift is firmly in the rearview. Over the weekend, Snoop took over Shade 45 where he spoke with his Mt. Westmore partner Too $hort and hinted there was a Shady collaboration on the way.
“Everybody’s solo song was the last verse of the song before that, except the one with me and Eminem,” he explained. “Because I felt like that was like a big reveal. When n-ggas hear that Eminem on that mothafucka, that’s just a whole other level.”
DJ Whoo Kid shared the clip to his Twitter page and appeared to confirm the collab with, “That new @snoopdogg and @eminem is coming soon.”

As the NFL’s “live music entertainment strategist,” JAY-Z and Roc Nation serve as consultants on productions such as the Super Bowl halftime show and had an integral role in booking the event.

#BoxOfficeNews: ‘No Time to Die’ Snares $56 Million In Domestic Box Office Debut, Tops $300 Million!
“No Time to Die” tallied an estimated $56 million during its domestic opening weekend, the fourth-best debut of any James Bond film in the franchise’s nearly 60-year history.
The film hauled in $23.3 million on Friday, $18.1 million on Saturday and is expected to generate around $14.5 million in ticket sales Sunday. Globally, the film has garnered $313.3 million since its international release two weeks ago.
While some box office analysts projected the film could reach $80 million, or even top $100 million, during its debut in the U.S. and Canada, the latest James Bond film’s opening numbers are still a solid showing for the pandemic era.
“This is not a one-weekend movie and I think the passion for Bond was played out in the high expectations,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore. “High expectations were a reflection of the excitement everyone had for this movie and a reflection of the pent-up need to finally see the film after an extra 18 months of wait time.”
Heading into its opening weekend, “No Time to Die” was overperforming advanced ticket sales expectations. Fandango reported last week that the film was outpacing presales for “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.” The “Venom” sequel currently holds the pandemic record for the highest opening weekend haul.
The performance of “No Time to Die” underscores the ongoing challenges facing the domestic box office. Namely, luring consumers out to theaters.
“Though the long-running time may have played a part, the opening weekend performance of ‘No Time to Die’ may be more reflective of the fact that mature moviegoers have a tendency to not rush out opening weekend to see a movie,” Dergarabedian said.
The James Bond franchise is nearly six decades old and the audience who comes out for these films tends to be older. Nearly 60% of moviegoers who turned up to see the film this weekend were over 35 years old and 36% of ticket buyers were over 45.
Older audiences have been slower to return to cinemas in the wake of the pandemic, leading to smaller box office hauls for films that cater to older generations. Around 25% of ticket buyers who went out to see “No Time to Die” this weekend noted that this was their first time returning to theaters in more than 18 months, MGM reported.
“Bond’s debut still speaks to the enduring appeal of the franchise and the great interest in Daniel Craig’s swan song ... while simultaneously giving the industry further insight into what to expect from certain demographics for the remainder of the year,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at Boxoffice.com.

As The Rev. Jesse Jackson Turns 80, He Calls For Renewed Fight For Social Justice!
After two presidential runs, international prisoner negotiations, freedom marches and local organizing, the Rev. Jesse Jackson is still fighting for what he believes is right as he turns 80.
At a birthday celebration at Rainbow/PUSH Friday, Jackson gave a call to action on a number of social justice issues he believes is threatening “all we’ve gained in the last 50 years.”
“We’re in a critical situation,” Jackson said. “We must now organize a different paradigm, a different disposition.”
Jackson, who only weeks ago finished treatment for COVID and Parkinson’s disease, was joined by pastors and leaders from around Chicago who said prayers for the civil rights icon and recalled his marked influence in civil rights history.
Jackson reflected on his 1984 talks with Fidel Castro, which led to the release of 48 political prisoners, as well as his 1990 meeting with Nelson Mandela after the world leader’s release from prison.
“The harder you work, the luckier you get,” he said. “I’ve never seen that fail.
Two weeks ago, Jackson was released from a Chicago rehabilitation center after an intense battle with COVID and receiving treatment for Parkinson’s. Jackson, who was vaccinated at the time, said the vaccine saved his life and encouraged others in the Black community to get the jab.
“I could not walk nor talk for three weeks,” Jackson said. “I went to rehab so I could learn how to walk or talk again. You need to know that, God, the shots matter.”
Jackson also emphasized the importance of fighting for federal voting protections and decried how “state’s rights” has made it harder for many to vote in the South.
“Registration. Vaccination. Education,” Jackson repeated. “We must get registered to vote, and we must get vaccinated.”
He compared the recent anti-abortion measures to America’s own “taliban.”

The event was held at Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH organization, which he founded in 1971 after a falling out with fellow civil rights activist Ralph Abernathy during their work on Operation Breadbasket. Today the organization works to fight for social justice and provide economic support to minority communities.
Jackson’s son, Jonathan Jackson, said it’s imperative that his father’s work to fight for social justice continues today.
“My father says, ‘The struggle is then and the struggle is now,’” Jonathan said. “We must be more focused and exacting in our conversations.... It’s not the water fountain anymore. It’s not the segregated schools anymore.”
Theological students from Ghana, Kenya and India also gathered to thank the religious leader and civil rights paragon for his global influence.
“Your work is a great inspiration to the entire world,” said Christopher Rajkumar, from India. “Continue to inspire us.”
HBO's Oz Star Granville Adams Dead at 58 from Cancer: 'His Smile Was Infectious'!
Granville Adams, best known for his role as Zahir Arif on HBO's Oz, has died from cancer. He was 58.
On Sunday, Oz showrunner and executive producer Tom Fontana shared the news on Instagram alongside a photo of Adams.
"Goodnight, sweet prince/and flights of angels sing thee to they rest," he captioned the post.
On Monday, an official update was shared to Adams' Instagram account by his family. "After a long hard-fought battle with Cancer, Granny has ascended to the heavens. Gran spent his last days surrounded by his loved ones, family, and close friends. His wife Christina was by his side the entire time and was alone with him when he passed," the post read.
"Granny is now in peace and not suffering anymore. He fought till the end with a strength, beauty and grace like no other, putting his family before himself til the final moments," the post continued. "Granville would not want us to be sad! Granny would want us all to smile and remember the best times we had with him, and share the love we learned from him! Granny may have left the building, but he will forever be in our hearts!"
Following news of Granville's death, his fellow Oz star Dean Winters posted a tribute on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself and Adams from a 2000 magazine photoshoot. In the caption, Winters reflected on meeting the late star, sharing that his smile was "infectious" and his "chuckle was intoxicating."
"He never, ever spoke ill of anyone and I defy anyone who knew him to say anything negative about this man. Granville was beloved, period," Winters wrote. "He may as well have had people throwing rose petals at his feet while he walked down the street. A humble, beautiful soul who just elevated the afterlife to a whole new level. You will be missed my friend. You are my brother and I'm a better human being for knowing you. RIP G. Respect ❤️💔❤️💔❤️💔❤️"
Kirk Acevedo, who also starred in Oz, honored his late "brother" Adams on Twitter, writing, "I lost my brotha today after a long battle with cancer. I don't do well with loss because I'm unfamiliar with it. Yo Granny we'll be chopping it up on the other side one day. Until then… Rest easy my friend."
Harold Perrineau, who portrayed Augustus Hill on Oz, wrote a touching tribute on Instagram alongside a photo of Adams, captioning it: "You can't always cry, sometimes you've got to CELEBRATE the time you had together. I LOVE this man and the entire group of family/friends that we all created. Sleep well Prince! We'll see each other again."
Adams first announced his cancer diagnosis in December 2020, sharing a photo from his hospital bed with the caption, "F--- CANCER!" He went on to share a few updates, most recently posting a photo in July writing, "135 pounds of post radiation badness 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽."
In January, Fontana and other members of the Oz family rallied support for the actor as Fontana and Winters started a GoFundMe page to help support Adams and his family.
"As many of you know, our friend and brother Granville Adams has been diagnosed with cancer. In only a few months, the medical bills have skyrocketed to astronomical levels," Fontana wrote. "Not only does he have to battle this ruthless disease, but now he has to fend off the hospital bills the insurance company refuses to pay. In this quarter alone, the unpaid bills have piled up to $69,550. We want to gather together and show Granville our love by clearing this quarter's bills, giving Granville concrete support in his fight against this vicious disease."
Fontana himself donated $10,000 to the fundraiser, while Adams' Oz cast mate J.K. Simmons contributed $5,000. Lost's Harold Perrineau and his wife Brittany also donated $2,000. They exceeded their fundraising goal of $69,550, raising over $95,000 in a month.
Adams starred as Zahir Arif on Oz from 1997 to 2003. Prior to the HBO drama, he had a recurring role as Officer Jeff Westby on the NBC series Homicide: Life on the Street from 1996 to 1999. He later reprised the character in the big-screen spin-off, Homicide: The Movie.
He is survived by his wife, Christina.
Nick Cannon Celebrates Legendary Hip Hop Duo Kid 'N Play If It "Wasn't For Y'all There Would Be No Me"!
The legendary "House Party" Rap duo visited Cannon's talk show and were deservingly given their flowers.
He went from a child star to a media mogul, and now, Nick Cannon has his own talk show. The self-titled program has recently launched and Cannon has been turn-styling his guests in its first weeks. He kicked things off by inviting his good friend Kevin Hart to appear as they continued trolling one another, and Cannon also recently featured music legends Kid 'n Play.
The Rap duo peaked back in the 1980s and '90s, even delivering some of our favorite classics with the House Party franchise. While speaking with Cannon, the talk show host gave them their flowers and revealed the influence Kid 'n Play had on his career.
“This is one of the most exciting moments for me in my career because ... I've told you guys this in private, but if it wasn't for y'all there would be no me. I say this as a kid who came up watching y'all. I was so inspired by everything that you did," said Cannon. “A kid growing up in the hood, in the project but seeing somebody that didn't necessarily have to always be promoting or perpetuating violence in their music. Even though I love all of the hardcore stuff ... you guys made me smile, you guys made me dance.”
The pair of icons welcome the praise humbly and spoke about the authenticity of their friendship.
“We were just doing it," said Christopher "Kid" Reid. "Two cats from Queens that grew up around the corner from each other that wanted to have that fun-loving atmosphere that you talked about. It was born out of a real friendship, nobody put us together. We grew up around the corner from each other, so I think later on when you saw the movies, the music, and everything else, the chemistry was real.”
ASAP Ferg, Fat Joe, Dr. J, and more attend Rucker Park reopening ceremony!
Fat Joe, A$AP Ferg, and basketball legend Julius “Dr. J” Erving were in attendance Saturday (Oct. 9) for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and reopening of the Greg Marius Court at Holcombe Rucker Park in Harlem, New York.
The NBA Players Association (NBPA) came together with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to renovate the famous court. Brand new backboards, rims, and bleachers were installed, plus the park — affectionately known as the “The Rucker” — now boasts a state-of-the-art scoreboard.
The Executive Director of the NBPA, Michelle A. Roberts, was influential in enlisting creative director Set Free Richardson to curate the art for the renovation. Richardson then reached out to Harlem native A$AP Ferg to execute the design.
“To see my name along side Ferg name on the gates outside of the court was a humbling experience!” Richardson wrote on Instagram. We got a chance to tell what Rucker means to both of us and the meaning of the art!”
Ferg, who shot the music video for “Work” at Rucker Park, was emotional as he spoke to the crowd. He spoke about his own memories coming to the games and meeting NBA players as a kid before he revealed the inspiration behind the court’s new design. “What really inspired this court design, because I had so many designs, I spoke to my friend Jaylen Brown. He plays for the Boston Celtics. We was on the phone for hours because I just really was diving for inspiration… He was telling me the history on basketball and he told me about the Mayans.”
“They had this court game where they had a stone wall and the hoop was on the side and they played with a stone ball and they would like, play to death,” Ferg continued. “Basketball was the evolution of that. Doing the research of the essence of this, I stumbled upon a word, Xibalba, which means a place of fright… The hunger and the tenacity of the children that came from the Harlem streets gave us a different type of DNA growing up. Xibalba was a mythological word that the Mayans came up with that meant when you step into this game, you either die or you turn into a God and that’s what this court represents.”
Fat Joe proudly boasted that he’s the winningest coach in the history of Rucker Park’s streetball tournament, The Entertainer’s Basketball Classic (EBC). “I’ll start off by saying that in my will it’s written that my hearse must drive past The Rucker,” Joe said. “Many years, I would have these number one songs at the time. If you know about music, when an artist got a number one song that’s when they go and get their money. But everybody knew, every summer, I would not go get money. I would not perform. I would be coaching the kids here at the Rucker. I lost a lot of money in these summers… The thing that’s so beautiful about Rucker Park is that we always admired [it] and this is the one place that we never forgot the legends that paved the way for us to come after.”
Cardi B And Raven Symone Officiate Same-Sex Couple’s Wedding!
Not long after Cardi B and her husband Offset welcome their second child, the BX rapstress joined up with actress Raven Symone to officiate a lesbian wedding.
While the Oh So Raven star stood in as ring bearer for the ceremony, Cardi brought the two women together in holy matrimony. Cardi tweeted about the wedding, saying, “By the way, WORLD I’m licensed to marry people…so yea. I do it all, and this was such a fulfilling thing to do.”

Paul McCartney says John Lennon was responsible for Beatles breakup: 'I didn't instigate the split'. Report!
Paul McCartney is reportedly clarifying that the Beatles disbanded due to John Lennon, not him.
“I didn’t instigate the split. That was our Johnny,” McCartney, 79, is quoted as saying in an upcoming episode of the new BBC Radio 4 interview series This Cultural Life, the Observer reports.
Declaring that the period was the “most difficult period of my life,” McCartney felt the group was still producing “pretty good stuff" — "Abbey Road, Let It Be, not bad" — at the time of the split. Though he reportedly acknowledges tensions within the group, his thinking was "this was my band, this was my job, this was my life, so I wanted it to continue.”
But Lennon, who was murdered in 1980 at age 40 by Mark David Chapman, was no longer interested in staying with the band, according to the report.
“The point of it really was that John was making a new life with Yoko [Ono, his wife]. John had always wanted to sort of break loose from society because, you know, he was brought up by his Aunt Mimi, who was quite repressive, so he was always looking to break loose," McCartney reportedly says in the series, adding that Lennon found the idea of leaving the band to be "quite thrilling."

McCartney himself ended up on the receiving end of much of the blame for the band's demise, and he and fellow members Ringo Starr and George Harrison were “left to pick up the pieces.” The idea that he was responsible for the breakup is something he still refutes.
“Stop right there. I am not the person who instigated the split," McCartney reportedly says in the series. "Oh no, no, no. John walked into a room one day and said 'I am leaving the Beatles.' Is that instigating the split, or not?”
After the breakup, McCartney was constantly asked if it was his decision that ended the group.
“I had to live with that because that was what people saw," he shared. "All I could do is say, no.”
Under new management, the bandmates had to "pretend" for a few months that they were still a cohesive unit. “It was weird because we all knew it was the end of the Beatles but we couldn’t just walk away," he says in the upcoming episode. Soon, he was so frustrated that he “let the cat out of the bag” because “I was fed up of hiding it.”
“Around about that time we were having little meetings and it was horrible. It was the opposite of what we were. We were musicians not meeting people,” McCartney said, adding that Lennon “wanted to go in a bag and lie in bed for a week in Amsterdam for peace. And you couldn’t argue with that.” Still, McCartney doesn't hold Ono responsible, because “they were a great couple. There was huge strength there.”
News of his remarks comes a day after McCartney shared an intimate photo of himself and Lennon in honor of what would have been Lennon's 81st birthday.
"Happy Birthday thoughts for John — Paul," McCartney captioned the photo, which showed the two rehearsing together, Yahoo Entertainment previously reported.
Balmain’s Creative Director Reveals Fireplace Explosion Injuries!
Olivier Rousteing reveals that he suffered from terrible fire-related injuries and kept them a secret for a full year.
Olivier, the creative director for Balmain, took to Instagram to disclose the details of his injuries. Rousteing says that his fireplace in his home exploded, and he went to Paris’ Hôpital Saint Louis.
In the post, Rousteing shared pictures of him in heavy bandages. The director can be seen with numerous burns on his head, arms, and torso.
Olivier also says the reason why he hid his burns was because of insecurities.
“I did everything to hide this story from as many people as possible and trying to keep the secret with my teams and friends for too long. Maybe this obsession with perfection that fashion is known for and my own insecurities…”
Despite Olivier’s condition, the director continued to work through it. Now that he is healed a year later, Rousteing says he’s grateful and lucky. “Never never give up! There is always the sun after the storm.”

A YEAR AGO
I finally feel ready to share this. I’ve been hiding this for too long and it’s time for you to know.
Exactly a year ago, the fireplace inside my house exploded.
I woke up the next morning in Paris’ Hôpital Saint Louis. The talented staff at that famous hospital, which was dealing with an incredible number of COVID cases at that same time,took amazing care of me. I cannot thank them enough.
I did everything to hide this story from as many people as possible and trying to keep the secret with my teams and friends for too long .
To be honest I am not really sure why I was so ashamed , maybe this obsession with perfection that fashion is known for and my own insecurities…
As I recovered, I just worked days and night to forget and creating all my collections , trying to keep the world dreaming with my collections and at the same time hiding the scars with face masks, turtlenecks, long sleeves and even multiple rings on all my fingers through many interviews or fotoshoots.
And I truly realized that the power of social media is to reveal only what you want to show !
Kind of allowing us to create our own special narrative that avoids what we do not wish to see or show: this is our new world.
Now, a year later—healed, happy and healthy.
I realize how truly blessed I am and I thank GOD everyday of my life..
My last show was about the celebration of healing over pain and I thank all the models the productions my team the models my Balmain family ,my friends that came and supported not only my 10 years of Balmain but my rebirth .
Today, I feel so free, so good and so lucky. I’m beginning a new chapter with a smile on my face and a heart full of gratitude.
To the doctors and nurses at Saint Louis, and to all those who helped me during this long recovery and kept my secret : a profound thank-you. I love you.

1 Dead, 15 Injured After “Several Shooters” Opened Fire In Minnesota Bar!
At least 15 people were shot, and a young woman died after shots were fired inside a crowded Minnesota bar early Sunday morning.
Officers described the scene as a “hellish situation” when they arrived at the St. Paul bar around 12:15 a.m., the local police department said in a statement.
“In an instant, they found themselves caught in a hellish situation,” St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell said.
Officers believe that there were “several shooters.” No arrests have been made, the New York Post reported.
A woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. Fourteen others were transported to nearby hospitals and are expected to survive.
“My heart breaks for the woman who was killed, her loved ones, and everyone else who was in that bar this morning,” said Axtell.
