Speaking recently with V Magazine, Willow Smith made it clear that she is forging a path for Black women in punk rock and into heavy metal — whatever price she will pay in her cosmic spirit for the journey. Smith was only 2 years old when Avil Lavigne hit the Billboard charts with “Sk8er Boi.” It took another 5-6 years before Willow Smith tuned into Lavigne’s music, a year before the release of her first single ‘Whip My Hair’.
By then, Willow Smith was listening to Avil Lavigne 24/7, the 20-year-old talent tells Nylon. “ . . . [I was] trying to dress like her and trying to just be her, honestly.”
Smith’s dream to connect with her long-time idol bore fruit in June 2021, when the two women connected to make a music video in Los Angeles. It was, says Smith, a “fever dream.” Jones notes that TikTok has decided that Lavigne is cool again — her first post, set to “Sk8er Boi” and co-starring Tony Hawk, has been viewed over 29 million times. Uh Oh? The Queen Madonna Blasts DaBaby For His ‘Hateful Homophobic Remarks’!
Madonna took to Instagram to school DaBaby for the homophobic comments he made during his appearance at Rolling Loud in Miami on Sunday. In a lengthy post, the singer addresses DaBaby directly, explaining the science behind the transmission of AIDS and HIV.
“A message to DaBaby – if you’re going to make hateful remarks to the LGBTQ+ community about HIV/AIDS then know your facts:
After decades of hard won scientific research— there are now life saving medicines available to children born with HIV, to people who contract HIV through blood transfusions, dirty needles or exchange of bodily fluids,” Madonna wrote. “These new ARV’s can keep a person with AIDS alive for the rest of their lives!!! AID’s is not transmitted by standing next to someone in a crowd. I want to put my cellphone lighter up and pray for your ignorance, No one dies of AIDS in 2 or 3 weeks anymore.”
She added, “People like you are the reason we are still living in a world divided by fear. All Human beings should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, gender, sexual preference or religious beliefs.”
During his Sunday appearance at Rolling Loud, DaBaby was recorded during his set saying, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up… Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
Numerous artists and organizations have spoken out against DaBaby’s words the days since. Dua Lipa issued a statement addressing the comments made by her “Levitating” remix collaborator on her Instagram Stories: “I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments. I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”
Elton John also weighed in, writing on Twitter, “We’ve been shocked to read about the HIV misinformation and homophobic statements made at a recent DaBaby show. This fuels stigma and discrimination and is the opposite of what our world needs to fight the AIDS epidemic.”
On Wednesday, GLAAD criticized DaBaby. “The rhetoric that DaBaby used is inaccurate, hurtful, and harmful to the LGBTQ community and the estimated 1.2 million Americans living with HIV,” DaShawn Usher, GLAAD’s Associate Director of Communities of Color, said in a statement. “It is critical that DaBaby and his fans learn that people living with HIV today, when on effective treatment, lead long and healthy lives and cannot transmit HIV.”

Kandi Burruss is planning to end her long run on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, according to a report by MTO News. The popular Bravo star is expected to exit a franchise hanging in limbo after the ratings nosedived to their lowest numbers, last season. Kandi is reportedly threatening to walk unless Bravo doubles her salary to a reported whopping $4 million.
Kandi plans to move to New York, where she will sit on the production team behind the upcoming Broadway play, “Thoughts of a Colored Man,” which will feature Broadway’s first all-black, all-male cast. The play is expected to debut in September and run through May—which coincides with the filming schedule of RHOA—which runs between October and February.å
The outlet spoke to a source close to the reality star who spilled that Kandi is not willing to jet back and forth between Atlanta and NYC unless Bravo cuts her a massive paycheck.
“Bravo can either pay Kandi, or she’ll walk and the show will continue to go down the drain,” the insider said.

The RHOA star made headlines in June, after her restaurant, Blaze, earned a shaky “C” health score in May after the reality star’s eatery was shut down due to a failed health inspection.
Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker’s business failed an inspection on May 19 and an official returned on May 28, according to records obtained by Radar Online. The southwest Atlanta restaurant opened in November 2020 and promotes a fine dining steakhouse experience.

Dusty Hill, bassist and secondary lead vocalist for legendary Southern blues-rock trio ZZ Top, has died, according to a post on the band’s official Facebook page by his bandmates of the past 52 years, Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard. Hill was 72 years old.
"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, Texas,” read the band’s statement. “We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top.’ We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo.”
While no cause of death was given, the sad news comes just five days after Hill was forced to pull out of a ZZ Top concert in New Lenox, Ill., due to an injury (the group’s longtime guitar technician, Elwood Francis, filled in). At that time, the band released a statement saying their “fearless bass player” was on a “short detour back to Texas, to address a hip issue,” but they expected a “speedy recovery” and to “have him back pronto,” adding, “Per Dusty's request, 'The show must go on!’” This was reported to be the first time that ZZ Top had ever played without Hill since 1969.
Joseph Michael “Dusty” Hill was born May 19, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, and he started off playing cello before transitioning to bass. He played with his brother Rocky Hill and future ZZ Top drummer Beard in local bands the Warlocks, the Cellar Dwellers, and American Blues before he and Beard moved to Houston, where they linked up with guitarist/vocalist Billy Gibbons, then of psych-rockers Moving Sidewalks.
Hill, Gibbons, and Beard joined forces in a new incarnation of ZZ Top (which had recently released their first single with a different lineup featuring bassist/organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchel) and released their full-length debut in 1971; they quickly became known for their sexual-innuendo-laden humor and blistering live shows driven by the signature “barrelhouse” sound of rhythm section Hill and Beard. This classic lineup remained in place for the next half-century and went on to release 15 studio albums and sell 50 million albums worldwide. In 2004, ZZ Top entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards delivering the ceremony’s induction speech.
ZZ Top were first known as a more traditional, heavy Texas blues/boogie band with classic rock radio hits like “La Grange,” “Tush,” and “Cheap Sunglasses,” but they enjoyed their most commercially successful period in the 1980s as unlikely MTV superstars — with Gibbons and Hill’s signature long beards, ever-present sunglasses, and furry guitars as ubiquitous on the new channel as Duran Duran’s pastel suits, Madonna’s peek-a-boo bra, and Boy George’s braids. 1983’s Eliminator album, which incorporated synthesizers and was reportedly influenced by Depeche Mode, spawned three massive pop singles (“Gimme All Your Lovin',” “Legs,” and “Sharp Dressed Man”), sold more than 10 million copies, and spent a whopping 183 weeks on the Billboard album chart.
This crossover was largely thanks to high-rotation MTV airplay of those tracks’ cheeky, colorful Tim Newman-directed videos, which starred some of the channel’s earliest and most iconic video vixens. “Legs” won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video, and “Sharp Dressed Man” won a Best Direction VMA. The follow-up album, 1985's Afterburner, was also an MTV success, with the music video for “Velcro Fly” choreographed by future MTV star Paula Abdul.
ZZ Top remained screen stars over the years with a performance at the 1997 Super Bowl XXXI halftime show alongside James Brown and the Blues Brothers, a performance on the American Idol Season 7 finale with winner David Cook, and a career-spanning taping for VH1 Storytellers in 2009. Hill also acted in Back to the Future Part III, Mother Goose Rock 'n' Rhyme, and Deadwood, and played himself on an episode of King of the Hill and in a Drew Carey Show sketch. This year, the ZZ Top documentary That Little Ol' Band From Texas was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Film.
In April 2020, Billy Gibbons told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he, Hill, and Beard had “a lot in the can” and were “cooking up another round of wicked sounds” for ZZ Top’s 16th album, with a tentative late 2021 release date. On Wednesday afternoon, Gibbons told SiriusXM Volume radio host Eddie Trunk via text, "As Dusty said upon his departure, 'Let the show go on!' and…with respect, we’ll do well to get beyond this and honor his wishes."

Kanye West has made himself at home at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
On Monday night (July 27), Yeezy hopped on his Instagram page and shared a photo of his new sleeping quarters at the downtown ATL stadium. The pic shows a makeshift bed in the right corner with a white quilted cover and a pillow along with a small closet containing a few clothing items on hangers.
There's also a TV and digital clock overhead on the wall. On the floor is an empty suitcase with more clothes neatly folded beside it. There are several pairs of Yeezy sneakers from Adidas, including the orange Yeezy 1020 boot-like kicks he wore during his Donda listening party last week.
Kanye captioned the photo, "How the best things are done. No distractions."
Overall, ’Ye's stadium bedroom almost resembles what a single dorm room looks like at a university or college.
This photo comes as Kanye is reportedly wrapping up the recording of his Donda project, which is set for release on Aug. 6.
According to Page Six yesterday, Kanye has been holed up in a "private space inside the building" away from civilians. An insider told the outlet there's a suite in the building with an official stadium placard outside the door that reads, "Donda Studio at Mercedes-Benz Stadium."
Kanye's manager, John Monopoly, shared an image of the placard, seemingly confirming that ’Ye does have a temporary residency at the arena while he wraps up his highly anticipated effort.
It's unclear how long the rapper-producer will be making the 71,000-seat stadium his home, but we presume that he'll be there until the album is completed.
Last Thursday (July 22), Kanye treated fans to a huge listening event of the Donda album with assurance the project would arrive on Friday (July 23). But alas, it didn't happen, and it was later announced that the LP will hopefully drop on Aug. 6.
Nevertheless, one of the biggest highlights at the event was when Yeezy previewed a new track featuring Jay-Z, in which Hov teased a potential follow-up to their 2011 collaborative effort, Watch the Throne.
The new album is expected to feature guest appearances from Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Pusha-T and hopefully the reunion track with Jay-Z.
Rihanna Is Launching Fenty Perfume!
Rihanna is finally launching Fenty's first fragrance. Details are under wraps at the moment, but just know that it's "coming soon."
The singer, designer, and beauty mogul first teased the news on Fenty Beauty's Instagram page yesterday. The mysterious video clip shows snippets of a brown glass bottle with the caption "something sensual, confident yet sexxy ✨coming your way very soon...😉". Then, Rihanna herself posted Twitter two promotional images from the fragrance campaign on Twitter.
This isn't the first venture into fragrance for the superstar, though it is the first for Fenty. Rihanna had a collection of 11 perfumes with fragrance house Parlux, the first of which was released in 2010. Fans might recall some of the most popular scents: Nude, Reb'l Fleur, and Riri. She even had a cologne called Rogue Man.
We don't yet know if Fenty Eau de Parfum will be masculine, feminine, or cater to all people—but we can expect that it will be a massive hit. That's because Rihanna is notorious for smelling delicious. A Twitter thread in 2019 pieced together all the times other celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and Nick Jonas have mentioned Rihanna's scent.
So what does Rihanna smell like? These days, probably Fenty perfume. But as first reported by Stylecaster, Rihanna's friend @StylishGent filmed a video with Rihanna back in 2016 in which he spills that she's wearing By Kilian Love, Don't Be Shy. Suni Lee Wins Olympic Gold In Gymnastics Individual All-Around!
Suni Lee delivered an epic performance for the U.S. in the individual all-around gymnastics competition at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday, narrowly beating Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade for gold.
Lee came into the floor routine needing a big score to catapult her to the top. She needed a 13.467 to top Russian Olympic Committee’s (ROC) Angelina Melnikova and picked up a 13.700.
The performers watched as Andrade took the floor for her performance and two slip-ups cost the Brazilian a few points in her final score.
She scored a 13.666, good enough for a silver medal. She raised an inquiry with the judges over her floor routine and the score was raised a bit, but not enough to top Lee. Melnikova picked up the bronze medal.
Lee, 18, picked up her first Olympics gold medal. She had won silver in the team all-around earlier this week. She finished with a total score of 57.433. Andrade finished with 57.298 and Melnikova had 57.199
Much of the focus was on Lee and teammate Jade Carey after their teammate Simone Biles pulled out of the event to focus on her mental health. Carey put up a valiant effort. She scored the highest in the vault competition with a 15.200. She would finish in eighth place overall for the entire event.
Lee expressed support for her team after winning the silver medal in the team all-around.
"never been prouder to be apart of such an amazing team with an amazing group of girls. we stepped up when we needed to and did this for ourselves. we do not owe anyone a gold medal, we are WINNERS in our hearts," she tweeted earlier in the week.

The ‘Sex and the City’ Reboot Could Include Kim Cattrall After All, ‘The Door Is Open’!
Will fans see Samantha Jones in the forthcoming Sex and the City reboot after all?
While it was previously reported that Kim Cattrall would not be reprising her role for the 10-episode special, And Just Like That…, a senior production insider told Daily Mail that an appearance isn’t out of the question.
Production and buzz around the revival are going “so well” that it could go beyond the initial 10-episode order and get picked up for multiple seasons. A sophomore season is “expected to be announced soon” which means “the door is open” for Kim Cattrall to return, according to the insider.
They added,“There was obviously a concern that people would miss Kim and not be engaged but the response so far has been phenomenal. And for fans of Kim, the door is open for her to return. If she ever changes her mind, she can come back.
The ladies love and value her and would love to see her on the new show. The whole point of this series is to show that friendships evolve and change over time, so Kim is always welcome to come home.”
They went on to say that all she has to do is say the word.
“If Kim’s reps called us now and said she was available – we’d book her on the first flight to New York. There’s still time.”
It was reported earlier this year that Kim Cattrall would not be included in the revival.
Chief content officer for HBO Max, Casey Bloys, hinted at how the new series plans to move forward without the iconic Samantha character. Casey Bloys said,

For the Second Time in 8 Months Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson Tests Positive for COVID-19!
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time in eight months.
via People: Coach John Harbaugh announced Jackson’s positive test after the first practice of the Ravens’ training camp on Wednesday, adding that running back Gus Edwards had also been diagnosed with the virus, according to the Associated Press.
Both players missed practice Wednesday. Harbaugh did not say how long either player will be out.
“It’s just part of the deal. It’s just the way the world is right now,” Harbaugh said, according to AP. “We have 90 percent vaccinated, and I think we’re going to go above that, too, real soon here. So we’re in really great shape with the vaccinations.”
Jackson remains unvaccinated, which requires him to be tested for COVID-19 daily, according to ESPN. Vaccinated players are subjected to testing once every 14 days.
Harbaugh told reporters that the quarterback began testing last Thursday, and he received a negative test every day until receiving his positive result Tuesday.
Current NFL rules state that unvaccinated players who test positive must isolate for at least 10 days, depending on their symptoms. The Ravens are expected to play their first preseason game in 17 days.
“It’s no different than if somebody gets an injury — you tweak an ankle and you’re out for some number of days,” Harbaugh told reporters about working without the two players. “It’s just part of football. To me, whenever you have a problem or whenever something comes up like that, you embrace it and you almost kind of rejoice in it because it’s an opportunity to improve somewhere else.”
Jackson hasn’t addressed his own diagnosis publicly, but he did reply to a fan Tuesday who wrote on Twitter that they were disappointed they wouldn’t be seeing the quarterback at training camp this week.
“Just boarded my plane all the way from LA to see @Lj_era8 and the @Ravens tomorrow morning and he’s not gonna be there,” the fan wrote, alongside two crying emojis.
Jackson retweeted the message, adding several broken heart emojis.
This is not the first time that the athlete has contracted COVID-19. He tested positive last Thanksgiving and missed the Ravens’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, ESPN reports.
At the time, the team had 10 straight days of positive tests, with at least 14 players who were diagnosed.

As many of us know, this is the first time Boosie has commented on Lil Nas X. Back in July, the rapper got called out online for his homophovic comments about the “Old Town Rowe” Star who confirmed he was a member of the LGBTQ+ community on Twitter on Pride day.

Dominique Dawes Shows Support For Simone Biles After Gymnast Withdraws From Some Olympics Events!
Very few people can relate to the pressure U.S. gymnast Simone Biles feels as one of the world’s foremost athletes. One of them is retired Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes, who’s just offered support for the gymnast after she backed out of certain events at the Tokyo Olympics for mental health reasons.
Speaking with TMZ on Wednesday (July 28), Dawes, a former gymnast, expressed empathy for the situation Biles has been facing as the most dominant gymnast in the world.
“My heart goes out to Simone,” began Dawes, who won multiple gold medals at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. “There’s no way that one would sacrifice and dedicate their whole childhood to finally qualify [for] their second Olympic games, have to deal with being the only sexual [assault] survivor, the survivor of the Larry Nassar scandal, on the floor competing, as the role model, as the trail blazer, then get to the Olympic games and have this mental block.”

Biles pulled out of the women’s team gymnastics finals yesterday. In an Instagram post she uploaded that day, she gave some background on her decision.
“It wasn’t an easy day or my best but I got through it,” she wrote ahead of the finals. “I truly do feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders at times. I know I brush it off and make it seem like pressure doesn’t affect me but damn sometimes it’s hard hahaha! The Olympics is no joke! BUT I’m happy my family was able to be with me virtually. They mean the world to me!”

Pelican’s Jaxson Hayes Injured, Arrested After Violent Altercation With Police!
New Orleans Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes was arrested and hospitalized after reportedly brawling with police.
According to TMZ, officers were called to a Los Angeles area home for a domestic disturbance. When the officers tried to check on all of the parties involved, 21-year-old Hayes tried to prevent them from entering the residence.
Hayes, who is 6’11” and 220 pounds, became combative with law enforcement, and a fight broke out. The altercation got so intense that officers requested backup. At some point, Hayes was tased.
Both Hayes and an officer were brought to an area hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries. Their condition was unknown.
The domestic incident is still under investigation, and the parties involved have not been cooperative. As for the former Texas Longhorn, he is expected to be booked on felony battery on a police officer. It is unclear if more charges are pending.
The Pelicans are aware of the situation and are working with Hayes’ camp and the NBA on obtaining further details about what took place.

Ashanti regularly shares images of her amazing body and has been open over the years about her diet and fitness routines. In a 2019 interview with People, she advised people to "have balance" when it comes to getting the best results from their workouts.
"You have to eat clean and you have to work out. You have to allow yourself at least two cheat days so that it doesn’t become too strict,” Ashanti suggested.“I cut out a lot of meat. I think again, self-health and self-awareness are so important. All of that stuff is so important to maintaining your body, knowing what’s in your food, the GMO’s and the chemicals, and I’m super aware of this stuff.”
In addition to food, she also talked about the importance of having support when it comes to fitness.
“I have a trainer and we try to go five days a week when I’m home and then when I get to another place, he’s texting me a workout or he’ll FaceTime me and say, ‘Are you still in the bed?’ We try to keep it going,” she said.

Bob Odenkirk Is 'Stable' After Suffering 'Heart-Related Incident' On 'Better Call Saul' Set!
Bob Odenkirk is in "stable condition" after collapsing on the set of Better Call Saul.
One day after the 58-year-old actor was rushed to the hospital in New Mexico, where the Breaking Bad spin-off shoots, he's recovering from an unspecified "heart-related" ailment. His family is thanking everyone for the "outpouring of well wishes," as his health status has been a trending topic all day Wednesday.
The full statement from Odenkirk's rep to Yahoo Entertainment says: “We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart related incident. He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”
His son, Nate Odenkirk, posted on Twitter, "He is going to be okay."
The show wished him a "speedy recovery" via social media.
It was first reported late Tuesday that the actor, who plays shady lawyer Saul Goodman on the AMC show, fell ill on the set — and it was unclear if he was conscious while being transported to the hospital.
TMZ, which first broke the news, reports Odenkirk was "not conscious during the early hours in the hospital, although he's now lucid."
Odenkirk has had a long Hollywood career from his days as a Saturday Night Live writer to Mr. Show with Bob and David and his Emmy-nominated role of Saul on both AMC shows. His co-stars past and present shared messages as the emergency played out, including Bryan Cranston calling for "thoughts and prayers" for the actor and Aaron Paul sending his love.
The positive update led to more reactions — ones of relief. His TV brother on Better Call Saul, Michael McKean, wrote, "We are all sharing a great big sigh of relief, right?" while co-star Rhea Seehorn shared Nate's tweet with a string of hearts. David Cross wrote, "Bob won" while his wife, Amber Tamblyn, said "everyone — literally everyone — can breathe now."
It's unclear right now how his recovery will impact the production of Better Call Saul. The show is shooting its sixth and final season, but was held up by the coronavirus pandemic and was scheduled to air in 2022.

A woman and her dog were fatally stabbed inside a popular Atlanta park early Wednesday, police said.
Katherine Janness, 40, and her dog, Bowie, were found at about 1 a.m. inside Piedmont Park at 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive in the city’s Midtown neighborhood, according to police.
Before the discovery, Janness, who lives near the park, had told her devastated wife that she was taking their dog for a quick walk, the victim’s father-in-law told Fox 5 Atlanta.
“It’s a gruesome scene,” Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. told the news outlet.
Police on Wednesday announced a $10,000 reward for information regarding the slaying and released a photo of Janness crossing a rainbow-painted crosswalk near the park.
Investigators are still working to determine if Janness was targeted or was the victim of a random act of violence.

Suspect Arrested in Calif. Movie Theater Shooting of College Student and TikTok Star!
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a college student and seriously injured a 19-year-old TikTok star at a California movie theater on Monday.
via People: Joseph Jimenez, 20, has been booked on suspicion of murder in the death of Rylee Goodrich, 18, and attempted murder in the shooting of Anthony Barajas, the Corona Police Department wrote on Facebook. He was also booked on suspicion of robbery.
He has not yet been formally charged, authorities say.
Police said detectives served a search warrant at Jimenez’s home in El Cerrito on July 27 and found a firearm that matched the caliber of the weapon used in the killing, and also found other evidence related to the crime.
Police said witness statements led them to Jimenez.
“Based on statements obtained, there is no known motive and it appears to be an unprovoked attack,” police said in the statement.
It was not immediately clear if Jimenez has retained an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
Goodrich, a college student, and Barajas, a social media influencer with close to one million followers on TikTok, were shot as they watched The Forever Purge at the Regal Edwards Corona Crossings in Corona.
They had gone to the 9:35 p.m. showing of the movie together.
Authorities responded to the scene around 11:45 p.m after reports of an “unknown problem,” the Corona Police Department wrote on Facebook.
When they arrived, they found Barajas and Goodrich had both sustained gunshot wounds. Barajas was transported to the hospital, where he remains on life support.
Goodrich was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
In the plot for The Forever Purge, the fifth installment of the film franchise murder and mayhem are legal for one day a year.
Movie theater staff discovered the victims when they entered the theater at the end of the film to clean, Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis told KTLA.
Barajas is known on TikTok as itsanthonymichael.
