Naomi Osaka for Sports Illustrated - August 2021!
Naomi Osaka has already taken the world by storm as she's gained recognition for her prowess on the tennis court. However, within the past year and a half alone, the 23-year-old has used her platform not only for her sport but also for important causes that she cares deeply about including mental health and racial injustice. On Monday, she showed another side of herself on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, following in the footsteps of trailblazing women who came before her.

"I'm so proud to be the first Japanese and Haitian woman to grace one of the covers. I feel like that multi-cultural background is present in all of the things that I do. I try to incorporate it in everything, so hopefully, you see that," Osaka told Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. "My memories [of the magazine] kind of involves the people that I grew up admiring, so I remember Tyra Banks's issue, I remember Beyonce's. Just growing up and watching so many incredible women grace this cover, for me, it feels like a dream."
Osaka is no stranger to the Sports Illustrated brand after being named a 2020 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year for her activism. She was also recently awarded as the Best Female Athlete at the 2021 ESPYs. MJ Day, editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit tells Yahoo Life that Osaka's ability to use her words wisely is just one of many reasons that she landed one of this year's cover spots.

"She's completely resilient. But she has this whole other side to her where she goes on a court, she says nothing. She wears a mask that says everything," Day says, referring to Osaka's selection of face masks at the 2020 U.S. Open that highlighted the names of Black victims of police brutality.
Even more recently, Osaka was supported by people around the world while announcing that she was withdrawing from the French Open in an effort to protect her mental health after requesting to skip press at the event. "Her silence says everything," Day explains. "Her ability to get the world to pay attention to such an important thing. That is her superpower."

As a powerhouse athlete who has been deemed one of the greatest in the world, Osaka's discussions of mental health are unprecedented. She also talked to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit about body confidence after posing in swimwear.

"You can see someone and think they're the most confident person but deep down, I think that everyone's a bit insecure of something. I know a lot of people say fake it until you make it and I think there's a lot of people that are really good at that," she shared with the magazine. "I feel like if you're confident in something then eventually it'll sort of catch on and you’ll just become a confident person."
She continued, "If I could give a piece of advice to my younger self, I would just tell myself to trust the process and not compare yourself to other people. That's sort of what I try to do on the tennis court."

#RHOA: Claudia Jordan Reacts To NeNe Leakes Comparing Herself To Beyonce!
Claudia Jordan has been known to call out the likes of NeNe Leakes in the past. What, like it’s hard? NeNe has done some insanely egregious things. Most recently, it was comparing herself to both Beyoncé and McDonalds in the same rant. The fuck?

During an interview with Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored NeNe was asked how it feels when OG fans beg to have her back on the show. She replied saying, “It’s very hard to –– in a very nice way –– go somewhere and think that you can fill the shoes of something that someone started. It’s kind of hard to have the group Destiny’s Child and take Beyoncé out and think you have Destiny’s Child. It’s kind of difficult to do that.” Ma’am!

Not only do we all know Kenya Moore is Beyoncé’s clear favorite, but you need to stop this comparison thing you are working to make happen. You aren’t George Floyd (yea, she tried that) and you sure as hell aren’t a woman who found massive success after leaving her main gig. Beyonce didn’t get fired by her former bandmates after making a disgusting and very public rape comment. Get it yet?

Claudia had her own thoughts on NeNe’s recent comments claiming to be the “Beyoncé” of the cast. In an interview with uInterview Claudia admitted, “I mean she is a big part of the success of the show. I don’t know about calling herself Beyoncé, but when she was enjoying the show she was great, she was great.” Honestly, I can’t argue. Too bad she couldn’t maintain.

Claudia continued her evaluation of NeNe’s delusional situation. She said, “When [NeNe] was enjoying the show and being fun and funny she was great. I think that was around the time that Destiny’s Child was together that’s when NeNe was best on the show.” Ooof. It stings. Now THAT is how you twirl on a hater.

#HipHopNews: Kanye West Is Dropping ‘Donda’ This Friday!
Yeezy is coming. After much speculation, Kanye West has confirmed that his 10th solo studio album DONDA will drop this Friday, July 23. The announcement was made in a new Beats by Dre commercial starring track sensation Sha’Carri Richardson that aired during Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The 60-second spot, which was scored and edited by Kanye, features a new song called “No Child Left Behind.”

DONDA will premiere during at a sold-out listening event at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Thursday, which will be streamed live globally via Apple Music at 8 p.m. ET.
Earlier in the week, Kanye previewed the album for a select group of friends and fans at a church in Las Vegas. The album, for which a preliminary tracklist leaked, is said to feature collaborations with Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Pusha T, Post Malone, Playboi Carti, Westside Gunn, Baby Keem, and more.

Kanye also played his latest work for Kevin Durant and web personality Justin Laboy, who raved about Ye’s new music. “The production is light years ahead of it’s time, and the bars sound like he’s broke & hungry trying to get signed again,” he tweeted. “The man changed the sound of music on this project.”

DONDA, named after Kanye’s late mother, arrives nearly one year to the date of its original July 24, 2020 release date. It follows 2019’s Jesus Is King, which topped the charts and won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Album.

#NBAFINALS: The Milwaukee Bucks Win NBA Finals, Defeating The Phoenix Suns!
Giannis Antetokounmpo ended one of the greatest NBA Finals ever with 50 points — and a championship Milwaukee waited 50 years to win again.
Antetokounmpo had 50 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots as the Bucks beat the Phoenix Suns 105-98 on Tuesday night to win the series 4-2.

It was the third game this series with at least 40 points and 10 rebounds for Antetokounmpo, a dominant, debut finals performance that takes its place among some of the game’s greatest.
He shot 16 for 25 from the field and made an unbelievable 17-of-19 free throws — a spectacular performance for any shooter, let alone one who was hitting just 55.6% in the postseason and was ridiculed for it at times.

He hopped around the court waving his arms with 20 seconds remaining to encourage fans to cheer, but it was way too late for that.

Their voices had been booming inside and outside for hours by then, having waited 50 years to celebrate a winner after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson led the Bucks to the championship in 1971.
In a season played played largely without fans, the Bucks had 65,000 of them packed into the Deer District outside, a wild party that figured to last deep into the Midwestern night.
Confetti rained down inside as fans chanted “Bucks in 6! Bucks in 6!” — what began as a hopeful boast by former player turning out to be a prophetic rallying cry.

The Bucks became the fifth team to win the NBA Finals after trailing 2-0 and the first to do it by winning the next four games since Miami against Dallas in 2006.

Chris Paul scored 26 points to end his first NBA Finals appearance in his 16th season. Devin Booker added 19 points but shot just 8 for 22 and missed all seven 3-pointers after scoring 40 points in each of the last two games.
The teams that came into the NBA together as expansion clubs in 1968 delivered a fine finals, with the last three games all in the balance deep into the fourth quarter.

The Bucks won them largely because of Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP in the regular season who raised his game even higher in the finals and was voted the NBA Finals MVP.

Brisbane Australia is confirmed as host of 2032 Olympic Games!
Brisbane has been confirmed as the host of the 2032 Olympic Games, with IOC president Thomas Bach making the announcement on Wednesday night.
Brisbane will host the 2032 Games after winning formal approval by the International Olympic Committee.
The Brisbane bid, encompassing south-east Queensland, was ratified by a vote of 87 IOC members at a meeting in Tokyo before the opening of the Games on Friday.

The Brisbane 2032 delegation, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, made a formal final presentation to the IOC meeting.
“It’s a historic day not just for Brisbane and Queensland, but for the entire country,” Mr Morrison said.
“Only global cities can secure the Olympic Games – so this is fitting recognition for Brisbane’s standing across our region and the world.
“It also marks an important leap forward for Australia as we look toward major events that lock in economic growth and social benefits that will echo for years to come.
“We know the impact on Sydney more than two decades ago was transformative. We can now expect a repeat for Brisbane and communities across Queensland.
“It’s a proud day for Queenslanders and Australians everywhere.”

Rather than running against rival candidates, Brisbane needed only ratification at Wednesday's IOC session to win the Games.

The IOC overhauled its bidding rules in 2019 to reduce costs and make the process easier for cities after seeing a number of would-be hosts drop out in preceding years.
The reforms played into Brisbane's hands, with the city named preferred bidder by an IOC commission in February and endorsed by the powerful IOC Executive Board last month.

KPMG has estimated economic and social benefits at $8.1 billion for Queensland and $17.6 billion for Australia.
"We came over on a plane full of athletes and they are all here to compete and do Australia proud," Brisbane mayor Adrian Schrinner told reporters on Monday.

"We're here to compete in a different way, to make sure that Brisbane, Queensland gets the Games in 2032 and we're not taking anything for granted.
"We are here to work, we're here to get the job done and we're here to bring it home."
Several cities and countries had publicly expressed an interest in staging the 2032 Games including Indonesia, Budapest, China, Doha and Germany's Ruhr valley region.

However they all missed out to Brisbane, which will be the third Australian city to host the Summer Games after Melbourne (1956) and Sydney (2000).

‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 Production Shuts Down Due to COVID-19 Exposure!
“American Horror Story” Season 10 production has been temporarily halted due to a positive COVID-19 case and potential exposure to the illness, Variety has learned. The positive case was in what’s been termed “Zone A” in COVID-production protocol, and was an actor on the show.

Originally scheduled to premiere on FX in late 2020, production on the Ryan Murphy horror series was delayed due to the pandemic. Season 10 began filming in December, and has not had any previous shutdowns. News of the production’s suspension — which likely will last until at least the end of the week— follows growing concerns about a rise in COVID cases and a new indoor mask mandate “regardless of vaccination status” being instated and implemented by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health this past week.
The tenth season of the series, entitled “American Horror Story: Double Feature,” is slated to premiere Aug. 25 at 10 p.m. on FX. The season is divided into two parts, with two separate stories and mostly separate casts. Part 2 is currently filming.

“Double Feature” stars Macaulay Culkin, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock and Kaia Gerber.
Calls to Disney, which produces “American Horror Story,” and an email to FX were not returned.
In the new agreement between the studios and the unions, which were announced on Monday, producers can mandate that those in Zone A must be vaccinated.

“American Horror Story” is not the only show to be besieged by the virus. This past weekend, production on Season 2 of Netflix’s “Bridgerton” shut down for an indefinite period of time following its second COVID-19 case in a week.

The “American Horror Story” franchise kicked off in 2011 with the flagship “Murder House” installment. Throughout its nine editions thus far, it has averaged almost 10 million total viewers per episode across linear and non-linear platforms, and has been nominated for 95 Emmy Awards, winning 16 trophies over the last eight years. The franchise’s “American Horror Stories” spinoff recently debuted its inaugural season July 15 with back-to-back episodes on FX on Hulu.

Fat Joe Checked In With Biz Markie’s Family Every Week For A Year!
Fat Joe was a loyal friend to Biz Markie until the very end, the late MC’s wife told TMZ on Tuesday (July 20). Tara Hill, who revealed the tragic news of her husband’s passing, told the outlet that Joe was a source of emotional support throughout Biz’s hospitalization.
Last June, the 57-year-old was admitted to a hospital for severe complications from Type 2 diabetes. Since then, Tara said Joe called her every week to ask for updates on his health. The “What’s Luv?” spitter also routinely checked in with Biz’s other relatives to see if there was anything he could do to support them during the difficult time.

Tara said Joe also offered to help pay for Biz’s medical costs while he was hospitalized. After news of his death broke on Friday (July 16), Joe again reached out to see if he could contribute to memorial or funeral costs. Tara said that while she hasn’t needed to take him up on the offers, she greatly appreciated the gestures.

On Instagram, Joe previously mourned the loss of his friend with several posts. “We will love you forever BIZ MARKIE,” he wrote about the “Clown Prince of Hip Hop.”
Speaking with TMZ, Tara said other rap veterans like Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane and Treach also checked in regularly about Biz’s health. Biz sadly passed away on Friday.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce, this evening, with his wife Tara by his side, hip hop pioneer Biz Markie peacefully passed away,” his manager confirmed to REVOLT. “We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support that we have received during this difficult time. Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years. He leaves behind a wife, many family members and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes and frequent banter. We respectfully request privacy for his family as they mourn their loved one.”

Dr. Ian Smith Accuses ‘The Doctors’ Show Of ‘Racial Discrimination & Retaliation’ In Complaint!
Dr. Ian Smith is opening up about what he experienced during his time on CBS’ The Doctors and is calling out the daytime syndicated series for “racial discrimination and retaliation.”

His claims come after he had a conversation with the Head of CBS George Cheeks after being fired. Dr. Ian Smith was fired in late January after citing a producer’s “racist discriminatory statements about him” on a Zoom call. Cheeks allegedly showed compassion and told him that the incident should’ve “never happened” and would “be investigated ASAP.”
But a complaint Dr. Ian Smith recently filed with the New York Division of Human Rights and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleges, “To date, the CBS investigation remains incomplete.”

The complaint calls out “unlawful discriminatory practices” and references Sharon Osbourne, who left The Talk, which also airs on CBS, after a heated conversation on race with her now-former co-host Sheryl Underwood.
“The delay in the investigation is striking given how quickly CBS investigated recent allegations that Sharon Osborne engaged in race discrimination on another CBS daytime talk show called The Talk.”

He said in the complaint that he’s had issues with the show from the start. He was hired as the only host of the 13th season in July 2020 amid the nationwide fight against police brutality and for racial justice.
Dr. Ian Smith adds in the complaint that CBS has been radio silent on its decision to fire him since February, even though his photo is still on the show’s website.

He said after he complained to the show’s EP Patty Ciano about the lack of diversity when it comes to the show’s producers (only one of 24 are black) and she allegedly told him,

“We have you as the host. That’s what matters.”
He also accused her of sexual harassment, alleging that she told him to wear “tighter clothes” on camera.
Smith named Ciano, Stage 29 Productions along with its co-founder Jack McGraw (son of daytime talk show host Dr. Phil) and ViacomCBS are called out as “aiders and abettors” in the filing.

He went on to say that former Doctors co-host Rachael Ross also spoke of “a lack of diversity and racism” on the show. The two worked together on Doctors in 2013. They both left ahead of the 2014 season and Smith just returned as the sole host last year.

His lawyer of Leeds Brown Law, P.C said in a statement Tuesday (July 20th),
“If my client didn’t complain about racism, he would still be the host of The Doctors. His repeated complaints are a show of courage. He stuck his neck out to make the industry more inclusive and make the world a better place. We are exceptionally confident that we will prevail in this case and look forward to trial.”

He also claimed in the complaint that African-American hosts had fewer appearances and were paid less than their White counterparts.

What are your thoughts on the complaint?

Britney Spears’ Attorney Says “Main Goal” is to “Aggressively” Remove Her Father From Conservatorship!
Britney Spears’s new attorney, Mathew Rosengart, told reporters on Monday that he is working “aggressively” and “expeditiously” to remove her father, Jamie Spears, from her conservatorship.

In video footage shared on Twitter, Rosengart announced. “First, I once again want to thank Britney Spears for her courage and for her strength.” He continued, “I want to thank Judge [Brenda] Penny for her courtesy of welcoming my firm and I into this case. And I also want to thank Britney Spears’ fans and supporters. The outreach and support for my firm, myself, and most importantly, Britney, has truly been overwhelming.” He said, “Finally, and the last thing I’m going to say about this matter is as I said in court last week, and outside, my firm and I are moving aggressively and expeditiously to file a petition to remove Jamie Spears unless he resigns first.”

Sources say that Britney is “really happy and excited that she has new representations.” They said, “She feels like she’s finally heading towards ending this.”

According to PEOPLE, Rosengart is anticipated to urge the court to waive Britney’s mental health evaluation since she “doesn’t have much trust for the experts that she has worked with so far.”

Her father, Jamie, 69, stepped down as her personal conservator in 2019, but still remains in charge of her finance due to Bessemer Trust’s resignation as co-conservator of her estate.
In an impassioned speech to the court on June 23, Britney spoke publicly for the first time about the 13-year conservatorship. In the weeks since, the singer’s personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery, and Jamie have been publicly clashing. According to a declaration he filed at the end of June,

Jamie blamed Montgomery for the “difficulties and suffering,” Britney recounted in court. Montgomery’s lawyer issued a statement claiming that she has been a “tireless advocate” for Britney.
NBC reported last week that Britney told the judge that she is “extremely scared” of her father. “This conservatorship has allowed my dad to ruin my life,” she said. The outlet added she said she wants to charge her dad with “conservatorship abuse.

Jeff Bezos Awards José Andrés & Van Jones With $100M Each!
It seems like we should have been with Jeff Bezos today following his Space launch because he is out here dishing the big bucks out. It was for a good cause, of course.
Jeff Bezos awarded celebrity chef José Andrés and CNN political commentator Van Jones $100 million to put towards a charity or nonprofit of their choice, and to dow what they would like with the money.

The Hill reports that the “Courage and Civility Award,” was announced shortly after Bezos and his rocket reached Space.
The award recognizes “leaders who aim high, and who pursue solutions with courage and who always do so with civility.”
“I know that Van Jones is going to do something amazing with that $100 million. I don’t know what yet, I bet he doesn’t know what yet, but it’s in your hands, Van Jones. However you’re going to do it, it’s gonna work,” Bezos said

“We need unifiers and not vilifiers. People who argue hard and act hard for what they truly believe, but they do that always with civility and never ad hominem attacks. And unfortunately, we live in a world where this is too often not the case. But we do have role models,” Bezos added.

Here’s a First Look At Drake’s Certified Lover Boy Nike Collab!
Drake fans have more than an upcoming album to be excited for. The rapper is reportedly celebrating his upcoming Certified Lover Boy LP with a collaboration with Nike.
A first look at the sneaker was released by sneaker news company ovrnundr.io on Instagram.

“First look at the upcoming Drake x Nike Air Force 1 “Certified Lover Boy”. What are your thoughts. Stay tuned for more details and updates.”

The shoe looks similar to the classic all-white Air Force 1s, but there are some key differences. Drake put a spin on the shoe with a premium leather build. Another key difference, the midsoles have “Love You Forever” spelled out. Another detail, the textures at the front of the shoe has been altered from triangles to heart shapes.

There’s still no confirmation on the released date of the Certified Lover Boy project or the Nike collaboration, though some are expecting a fall release

Harvey Weinstein Sent to California to Face Sexual Assault Charges!
Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein has been sent on his way to California to face sexual assault charges.
According to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, the disgraced Hollywood mogul was handed over to Golden State officials early Tuesday morning.

A spokesman said, “This morning at approximately 9:25, custody of Mr. Harvey Weinstein was handed over to the appropriate officials for transport to the state of California per a court order.”
Weinstein was convicted of third-degree rape in February 2020 and has been serving a 23-year term at the Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo.
He is accused of sexually abusing five women in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.
Weinstein’s lawyers had requested to postpone the transfer due to the 69-year-old’s deteriorating health.

In paperwork received by the Daily News earlier this month, the Los Angeles county sheriffs department and district attorney’s office have stated that Weinstein will have no medical care disruptions.

50 Cent Calls For Additional 6k From Teairra Mari In Ongoing Case!
Another day another dollar … at least that is the case for 50 Cent. The Brooklyn Hip-Hop mogul has been vocal about his ongoing case with Teairra Mari after the signer filed a lawsuit for revenge porn in 2018 after he allegedly posted a clip to his social media of the Love and HipHop star and her ex-boyfriend. After much back and forth, 50 Cent was rewarded with $30K from Mari.

While 50 may have been rewarded with the coins, it seems as though the rapper has yet to be paid. While demanding his money both on social media and in the courthouse, 50 Cent seems to be taking his request back to the judge, asking for an additional $6K.

“Mari’s failure to provide any responses to Jackson’s Discovery Requests is a prime example of Mari’s misuse of the discovery process, and her overall gamesmanship permeating this entire lawsuit and the judgment enforcement proceeding,” 50’s attorney wrote in court documents. Mari reportedly did not respond to the June 24th deadline, where she needed to provide information regarding her finances. The Power creator’s attempt to seize the Love and HipHop star’s Vh1 checks seemed to fail as well.

The additional 6K that 50 Cent is asking for will put the rapper’s overall costs at approximately $40K. How long do you think Teairra Mari will hold out?

California Couple Charged in Deadly Wildfire Sparked by Gender Reveal Gathering!
Last Fall, a wildfire ravaged a big part of California for weeks only for authorities to discover it was caused by one couple’s gender reveal gone wrong.
According to CBS affiliate KCAL 9, defendants Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez are accused of sparking the fire after setting off a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device for their gender reveal party. The blaze began on Sept. 5, 2020, at the El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa. Authorities say the Jimenez family staged the gender reveal during dry and hot conditions at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains. During the event, the aforementioned smoke bomb reportedly malfunctioned and caused the ground to catch fire.

“They lit that device. It produced smoke, which ignited the season grasses that was immediately adjacent,” CalFire Capt. Bennet Milloy said, as reported by KESQ. “That grass immediately spread across to Yucaipa Ridge and then eventually to Oak Glen,” CalFire Capt. Bennet Milloy said.

Within a 23-day period, the fire burned more than 22,000 acres in the Oak Glen and Yucaipa Ridge areas. Hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate their homes, dozens of structures were destroyed, about a dozen injuries were reported, and one firefighter, Charles Morton, was killed. The fire wasn’t completely extinguished until mid-November.
The couple is facing a total of eight felony counts and 22 misdemeanor counts, including one count of involuntary manslaughter, three felony counts of recklessly causing a fire with great bodily injury, four felony counts of recklessly causing a fire to inhabited structures.

According to The Desert Sun, San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson said that the couple is facing several years in prison if they are found guilty on all of the charges. Somewhere between the “lower teens to low twenties,” Anderson reportedly said.

Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges, and are expected to be back in court on Sept. 15.
