Rockers Lenny Kravitz Covers The November Issue of Men’s Health!
Lenny Kravitz, 56-year-old rock God, covers the November issue of Men’s Health, on-stands October 20. Inside, he opens up about his heroes – including daughter ZoΓ« Kravitz – befriending his ex’s new husband Jason Momoa, and how writing his upcoming book became “an enormous therapy session” for the musician.

On forging friendship with ex Lisa Bonet’s now husband, Jason Momoa: “People can’t believe how tight Jason and I are, or how tight I still am with ZoΓ«’s mom, how we all relate. We just do it because that’s what you do. You let love rule, right? I mean, obviously, after a breakup, it’s work—it takes some work and time, healing and reflection, et cetera. But as far as Jason and I? Literally the moment we met, we were like, ‘Oh, yeah. I love this dude.’”

On the time Kravitz split his leather pants onstage in Stockholm, inadvertently revealing his privates to the crowd and subsequently to the entire Internet: “I don’t even think about it. Y’know, John Lennon was [naked] on the cover of that Two Virgins record. If he could do that, then it’s whatever.”

On his heroes, including daughter ZoΓ« Kravitz: “My mother, my grandfather, and my daughter. ZoΓ«—she’s the most real person I know. It wasn’t easy, I’m sure, but she’s just forged her way with elegance, you know? Just having two parents who were known in the world. The comparisons. She didn’t let any of that hinder her in any way.”

On leaving his Paris home for the Bahamas in early March to wait out COVID-19 for what he thought was a few weeks: “I’ve been living out of this weekend bag for almost five and a half months.”

On COVID restrictions and only being able to leave his Eleuthera property to buy food on certain days: “When I’m here, I pretty much live that way anyway. It’s a beautiful thing to really realize what you don’t need. If I have to stay here another five months, five years, I’m good.”

On Zoom workouts with his trainer Dodd Romero, who he’s trained with since the late ‘90s: “We always have a goal in front of us. My best shape is not behind me. It’s in front of me right now. We keep moving that bar as we get older.”

On improvising his workouts, running through grass and dirt: “That’s been my cardio, and then I moved some hand weights over next to a coconut tree that basically comes out of the ground sideways, so that’s now my bench, and I lift weights on this coconut tree. I’m doing a complete jungle workout.”

On his favorite cheat meal: “One is the full-on Beyond Burger, with lettuce and avocado and onions and everything. Just a big old nasty burger with hot sauce and ketchup.”

On the secret to looking young: “Your state of mind— that’s so important. Are you living your life doing something you love or doing something you can’t stand?”

On writing about systemic racism since his first album in 1989: “I’ve been talking about this stuff. I would have thought we’d be in such a better place than we are now. That we would have evolved. Not that it would have been anything close to perfect.”

On turning down big break offers early in his music career, and temporarily rechristening himself as “Romeo Blue”: “I turned things down because my spirit wouldn’t allow me to do it. And I wouldn’t be here now, talking to you, if I had taken those opportunities.”

On his upcoming book – a self-described “enormous therapy session” – and the words his father said to a young Kravitz after cheating on his mother (“you’ll do it too”): “Those four words, man, affected me more than I knew. There were times in my life where that was very difficult, and I didn’t understand why. I love my father, and we made peace before he died, but I held on to some things that had affected me in our relationship, and through writing the book…I was able to strip away some of the judgment that I had held on to and got to just see him as a human being.”
On how ex-wife Lisa Bonet’s creative influence allowed Kravitz to become a more authentic self: “The voice I was looking for, the name, the image, was already there. It was the first time I’d opened up like that, and had known love like that, and freedom. And watching her do what she did, how she maneuvered, in her artistic life—it was that last thing I needed, on this road. This sound, this message, this movement that I was looking for—I heard it in my head. That’s the way I still work to this day. I wait until I hear it in my head. That takes my ego out of it. It may not be what you thought you were looking for, but it’s what you get.”

#RHOA: Awwwww, Look Kandi Burruss Baby Blaze Tucker Is Officially Walking!
Kandi Burruss' baby daughter is blazing through her milestones. The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member confirmed on Instagram that at less than a year old, baby Blaze is checking off milestones at a quick pace. Yes, Kandi's baby girl is already walking.

"She did it! [Blaze] took her first couple of steps! She hasn’t even crawled but she decided to walk first. I’m so glad I didn’t miss this moment. I’m smiling from ear to ear right now!" Kandi shared about the 10-month-old. She also shared a video of the exciting moment.
Blaze was born last November and she's already achieving quite a lot in a short period of time. In addition to walking, back in July Kandi shared that she was already potty training. Early potty training is a tradition for the Burruss-Tucker kids, as dad Todd Tucker noted at the time, “You know we get them started early @blazetucker already on the potty!”

Kandi recently reflected on welcoming Blaze via surrogate last year and how she feels about that decision today in an interview with the We Are Family podcast. She noted that while she was initially hesitant about the process, she said, "But what I will say is when Blaze got here, I didn't feel any less of a connection than I have with my previous children. I still feel super bonded when I come in the room. Blaze lights up — her smile is so huge when I walk in there — so it's still this same love, the same connection."

#HipHopNews: Ll Cool J Calls Out Kanye West Over Grammys Piss & Diss!
In the midst of his tirade against the music industry and recording contracts, Kanye West decided to do a little extra when he urinated on one of his Grammys.
Among those who took offense to it? Hip Hop legend LL COOL J.

The Rock The Bells CEO chopped it up on Desus & Mero with Desus Nice and The Kid Mero on Thursday (October 1) and opened up on Ye and the disrespect he felt the Chicago rapper/producer gave a number of people who put in work to earn the gramophone in Hip Hop.
“With all due respect, I think Kanye should just, you know … maybe he should just piss in a Yeezy or something instead of pissing on a Grammy. Piss in a pair of one them Yeezys, B,” LL said around the 15:30 mark. “I felt some kind of way about that shit. I didn’t love that shit because I’ve hosted the Grammys for five years. The Grammys didn’t get everything right, but they didn’t get everything wrong, either.”

LL hosted “music’s biggest night” from 2012 to 2016. During his stint as host, the awards averaged 29 million viewers and peaked in 2012 with 39.9 million viewers.

He continued, “I don’t understand this constant disrespect. Look, now don’t get me wrong, there have been some foul things that have happened to some artists around the Grammys. They are not without flaws, don’t get me wrong. They are not perfect at all. I’ve seen things happen and I was like, damn. One year they invited [JAY-Z] down and I felt like he should have got some love and he got snubbed that year … but pissing in Grammys? Piss on one those space shoes, B. C’mon, man. What the fuck is he doing?”
Elsewhere in the lengthy interview, LL opened up about things in his career he wasn’t proud of, his long-rumored fight with Jamie Foxx on the set of Any Given Sunday and more.

“See, sometimes your intentions can be right but maybe the communication isn’t there,” LL said about regrets. “Maybe you meant to say something but people heard another thing. It is what it is. You can argue with yourself all day long about projects you had and why they didn’t connect. At the end of the day, your intentions … you shot the shot, you meant it to go in, but you missed! If you missed you missed. So yeah, I’ve had misses but I’m not ashamed of any of that, it’s part of being a champion.”

Back on September 16, Ye took to Twitter and proclaimed he wouldn’t stop going in on the music industry. One of those moments included the video of him urinating on one of his 21 Grammy Awards as an act of defiance.

“Trust me … I WONT STOP,” Ye wrote on Twitter. Many presumed the video was among the reasons Ye was temporarily suspended from the social media platform but he continued on, by calling Forbes editor Randall Lane a racist and publicly sharing Lane’s phone number.

Tevin Campbell Is Threatening Legal Action Against Jaguar Wright Over Her Male Prostitute Accusations!
Wright claimed that the "Can We Talk" singer was once a prostitute who sold sex for drugs.
One of the most unproblematic entertainers in the music industry is Tevin Campbell. As a teen, the singer brought us classics like "Can We Talk" and "I'm Ready," and throughout his longstanding career, Campbell has worked with the best of the best. He's remained relatively quiet about his life as he continues to make music and tour, but Jaguar Wright has shifted her sight once again and targeted the 43-year-old singer.

We've heard quite a bit from Wright as she almost weekly adds another artist to the long list of industry professionals that she's called out in the media. Jaguar Wright has worked with the likes of Jay Z, Common, and The Roots, but she's more recently made headlines for blistering accusations including claims that Common sexually assaulted her and stating that both Mary J Blige and Alicia Keys are gay. Most of the artists the Wright publicly talks about have ignored her claims, but Tevin Campbell made it be known that he wasn't going to put up with her antics.

"I know Tevin but we're not friends," Wright said. "He ended up prostituting himself for drugs and change on Hollywood Boulevard. How does that happen with a gift like his?" Tevin didn't take to kindly to the accusation. "According to @jaguarwright I was a sex worker on Hollywood Blvd. It's called online defamation. Do. Not. Test. T.E.V.I.N. My lawyer is on deck. I would take that YouTube vid down if I were you."
He added, "My past is well documented and I've learned from it and I own it. I will not tolerate anyone telling lies about me online.

Viola Davis Is 10th Highest Paid Actress For 2020!
When it comes to the top-paid actresses for the year, Viola Davis is rounding out the top 10.
The “How To Get Away With Murder” star ranks 10th at $15.5 million on Forbes’ Highest-Paid Actresses list for 2020.
This is her first time on the list, and it comes after her iconic role as Annalise Keating on the popular NBC series, as well as her role in Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which will be released on Dec. 18.

She’s the only black actress who made the list as Sofia Vergara, Angelina Jolie, Gal Gadot, Melissa McCarthy, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Nicole Kidman, Ellen Pompeo, and Elisabeth Moss hold the top 9 spots respectively.

The ranking comes during the conversation of black actresses demanding to be paid what they’re worth, especially when it comes to what their white counterparts make.
Viola Davis previously spoke on being compared to Meryl Streep, who is fifth on the list with $24 million.

She said earlier this year:
“I got the Oscar, I got the Emmy, I got the two Tonys. I’ve done Broadway, I’ve done off-Broadway, I’ve done TV, I’ve done film, I’ve done all of it. I have a career that’s probably comparable to Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Sigourney Weaver – they all came out of Yale, they came out of Julliard, they came out of NYU, they had the same path as me. And yet, I am nowhere near them. Not as far as money, not as far as job opportunities, nowhere close to it. But I have to get on that phone and people say ‘You’re a black Meryl Streep. There’s no one like you.’ Okay, then if there’s no one like me, you think I’m that, you pay me what I’m worth. You give me what I’m worth!”

Chrissy Teigen's mother shared an emotional message after her daughter suffered a pregnancy loss earlier this week.
Vilailuck Teigen, who goes by Pepper on Instagram, posted a short video of herself looking at her grandchild, along with two photos. In the video, she bows her head and weeps before giving her grandson, who would have been named Jack, a small kiss.
"My heart aches love you so much baby Jack," she wrote.

The Teigen family has received an outpouring of love and support after Chrissy Teigen announced her pregnancy loss, writing on Instagram that she and her family were "in the deep kind of pain you only hear about" and sharing a series of photos of herself, husband John Legend and their son.
"Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever," she wrote.

Jazmine Sullivan Claps Back At Critics Of Her Recent Weight Loss!
Jazmine Sullivan on Friday (October 2) clapped back at haters of her new look.
The R&B singer earlier this week revealed a slimmer physique on the set of the music video shoot for her new single, “Lost One.” While she received mostly positive feedback from her followers, some decided to body shame her.
“Omg i don’t know if this skinny is good on you,” one commenter said. Another wrote, “I hope that is from natural dieting mama.cause If not .it won't last.be careful.”

Sullivan took to her Instagram Story and said that she isn’t as “skinny” as she looks in the photo, and that her new 180 pound body is not an attempt at being thin.
“Last week some people dragged me saying I look sickly. I’m honestly a size 12. 180 lbs,” the 33-year-old wrote. “There’s nothing skinny abt me but my neck πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚ I’m 5’8 however, so I sometimes photograph a little leaner than I am. But I ain’t skinny and that was never my goal.”
Sullivan also says she went vegan in order to support her mother, who is battling cancer. “My goal was to support my mother thru her battle w cancer by going vegan with her, and in turn it helped me as well. And I feel really good,” she wrote.

But I’m trying… And I’ll continue to do so w my momma! Bless ya’ll, love ya’ll,” she wrote before sharing some advice: “Stop talking bout people. Vote in November!”

Prayers Up! Former Bet/Mtv Host Ananda Lewis Reveals She Has Stage 3 Breast Cancer!
Former host of BET’s Teen Summit and her self-titled show on MTV, Ananda Lewis, shared some life-changing news.
She revealed she’s been battling stage 3 breast cancer for two years. She shared her story on social media and began with apologizing to her family and friends for not sharing the news with them first personally. You can watch it HERE!
“That phrase ‘Don’t talk about it be about it,’ that’s been my life for almost two years and honestly there’s nothing any of you could have done so I apologize if you felt like I excluded you. It wasn’t personal, it was just something I needed.”

The 47-year-old chose to talk about this now in light of October being breast cancer awareness month. She admits that she should have gotten a mammogram earlier which could have prevented cancer from getting worse. She begs for people to get checked.

“If I had done the mammograms from the time they were recommended when I turned 40, they would’ve caught the tumor in my breast years before I caught it through my own self exam and thermography. And they would have caught it at a place where it was more manageable. Where the treatment of it would have been a little easier. It’s never easy, but I use that word in comparison to what I’m going through now. Instead, what I’m dealing with is stage 3 breast cancer that is in my lymphs. I need you to get your mammograms.”

Ananda uses alternative and natural treatments, which is helping to stop cancer from spreading, but she said she still has work to do. She also said she wants to be here she loves life and has a 9-year-old son to care for.

Rihanna Gives Update on New Album & Says She's Using Music As Her 'Outlet'!
It's the question on any and every Rihanna fan's mind: what's going on with her new album and will we get to hear it soon? Well, while there is no concrete answer just yet, the star has definitely been working on the project, and talked about the progress she's made in a new interview with the Associated Press.

Rihanna has dropped info here and there about "R9" before, and to the AP, she confirmed that she's held "tons of writing camps." But, she's been asking herself a lot of questions about the music she wants to release into the world. She explained, "What do I feel personally? What do I want to put out, and as an artist, how do I want to play it with my art? How do I want to interpret that?" She added, “How do I want to reimagine it because it’s been so structured before."

So, what can fans expect from her new album? Two years ago, a Rolling Stone exclusive said that Rihanna was exploring her Caribbean roots in the form of a dancehall album. Rih told AP of having created music across a few different genres already, "You do pop, you did this genre, you do that, you do radio, but now it’s just like, what makes me happy? I just want to have fun with music. Everything is so heavy. The world that we live in is a lot. It’s overwhelming every single day. And with the music, I’m using that as my outlet."

Although fans don't exactly have a solid timeline of when they can hear this new music, the pandemic has certainly affected that part of her career. She said, "I want to go on tour but I can’t, so I’m stuck with music that I love, and now I’m trying to figure out how I can even create visuals to that. That’s a challenge as well. But I love challenges so, you know, I’m gonna get it done."

Rihanna last released an album four years ago via 2016's ANTI, and since then has stayed relatively quiet on the music front to focus on business endeavors like her lingerie line Savage X Fenty, makeup line Fenty Beauty, and most recently Fenty Skin. However, this year, she did team up with PARTYNEXTDOOR on their 2020 track "Believe It.

‘Essence’ Magazine Is Furloughing Employees!
Essence magazine, the premier publication dedicated to the edification and upliftment of Black women, has been forced to furlough many staff members.
Essence announced in a statement on its website that it had to respond to the dramatic revenue losses as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Just as importantly to its income stream was the cancellation of one of the world’s largest festivals devoted to African Americans, the Essence Festival of Culture (formerly known as the Essence Music Festival) in New Orleans. That festival, which attracts about 500,000 people annually to the Crescent City, was held virtually in July 2020.

“Six months into an unprecedented and continuing global pandemic, COVID-19 has had a broader and longer-lasting impact than anyone expected – and Essence Communications, Inc. (“ECI”) has not been immune to it. Nonetheless, our commitment to successfully guiding this iconic brand through these immediate challenges and forward is unwavering,” the statement reads.
“After a thorough analysis of our business and its financial position and carefully exploring all options for continued viability, we have made the very difficult decision to implement temporary measures to account for the ongoing significant negative impact of the pandemic, including furloughs.”

Essence Communications is far from the only media company being ravaged by the effects of the novel coronavirus, The Daily Beast reports. The likes of Vox Media, magazine publisher CondΓ© Nast, and BuzzFeed News also had to take similar measures at some point this year, although BuzzFeed recently rebounded sufficiently enough to restore their furloughed workers.

Furthermore, the magazine’s precarious fiscal matters may have been exacerbated in June 2020 when an anonymous employee publicly accused the leadership of sexual harassment, bullying and other workplace turmoil. Essence Communications CEO Michelle Ebanks resigned three months earlier at the end of March. Richelieu Dennis, founder and chairman of Essence Ventures, who bought Essence from Time Inc. in 2018 to make it completely Black-owned, stepped in during the search for Ebanks’ replacement to help lead the senior team before naming the company’s newly appointed chief growth officer, Caroline Wanga, interim CEO July 1.

Leaders at Essence have said the company will not pay employees beyond this week and they don’t anticipate the employment moratorium to last more than six months.

The iconic magazine, which began in 1970, was able to stave off furloughs during the infancy of the pandemic earlier this year due “via significant personal investments from ownership along with limited PPP funds.” However, the “prolonged situation and unforeseeable business now require us to take additional action to ensure the long-term sustainability of ECI.”

Drake Admits To Dating SZA In 2008 On New Song, And Twitter Has… Questions!
Drake’s kissing and telling on 21 Savage and Metro Boomin's new joint.
The Canadian emcee makes a surprising admission on 21 and Metro’s collaborative studio album, Savage Mode 11, the long-awaited sequel to the Atlanta-based rapper’s 2016 EP Savage Mode. On the 15-song project, Drake appears on the track “Mr. Right Now,” on which he admits to previously dating neo-soul singer-songwriter SZA once upon a time.

“Turn your phone off, take your clothes off /I’m a sav', but I f—k her to a slow song/ Said the nail lady went and did her toes wrong/ Said her last man was always playin' Drake songs,” Drake kicks off his verse, later rapping: “Yeah, more concerned with blowing up than growing up/ Yeah, said she wanna f—k to some SZA, wait/ 'Cause I used to date SZA back in '08/ If you cool with it, baby, she can still play.”
Yeah, you heard that correctly: Drake used to date SZA.
As expected, social media is having a field day with this new information.

“Drake used to date SZA back in 08? Drake’s hitlist got more 10’s than his own discography FFS,” one user wrote, as another tweeted, "Bro, if Drake was fr with SZA I might have to shed a tear cuz no way I’m losing to somebody named Aubrey."
However, other users are, umm, a bit alarmed by Drake's confession, considering the age difference. In 2008, Drizzy would have been at least 22, and SZA (possibly) 17 or 18 years old, as pointed out by fans, who are wishing the latter on her part —for obvious reasons.

Although it’s unclear whether they were mutually following each other before Drake’s revelation, at the time of posting, SZA no longer follows Champagne Papi on Instagram. (Yes, we checked.)

So yeah, that certainly says… something.
