The Daily Buzz For Dec 17 ☕📰☕

Cardi B For Vogue Magazine January 2020!
Cardi B is on the cover of Vogue‘s January 2020 issue with her daughter Kulture Kiari, 16 months.
Here’s what the 27-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag…

On deciding to forgive Offset after he cheated: “Everybody has issues. I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it’s really us against the world. He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you’re betraying the person that has your back the most. Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way. I’ll beat your ass if you cheat on me.”
On how social media gets to her: “This whole year has just been a lot for me. I feel like people are just so tired of me winning. I will look for my name on Twitter, and it’s like hate tweets, hate tweets, hate tweets.”

On being a mom: “Being a mom—how can I say it? Things are a little bit harder to balance, but it’s good for the mental. Like, if I’m playing with my daughter, I forget about the issues.”
On the ramifications of his cheating on her life: “When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me. But it’s real-life sh*t. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you?”

#RHOA: Porsha Williams' Fiancé Dennis McKinley Says Her Postpartum Depression Drove Him to Cheat!
Porsha Williams and Dennis McKinley had an emotional therapy session on Sunday’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, as he finally confessed to what drove him to sleep with another woman while Williams was pregnant with their only child.

The couple — who have since reconciled but at the time of filming, were living apart and splitting time with their daughter Pilar “PJ” Jhena, now 8 months — came together for a counseling session with Dr. Sherry Blake.
One of the looming questions for fans has been why McKinley cheated on the first place, as the pair appeared to be head-over-heels in love on the show.
McKinley, 43, answered that question in therapy, admitting that he strayed outside his relationship because he was sexually turned off by Williams during her pregnancy and afterward, as she battled postpartum depression.

“We had a rough pregnancy, all the way from start to finish,” McKinley said. “Sex during pregnancy, it’s nothing what a man wants to do … and after PJ got here, postpartum was very real. We cried together like every night. That’s not a good enough why, but that’s the why.”
“It was a poor decision and it was a selfish decision,” McKinley continued. “I made a mistake, I cheated. … I’ve done my best to let Porsha know that I love her and I’m remorseful and apologetic. The priority for me is the baby.”
That didn’t smooth things over with Williams. She began her session by stressing that what McKinley did was “not a mistake.”

“A mistake, to me, is taking the wrong exit. You don’t make a mistake and set up with someone and cheat,” said Williams, 38. “That’s not where he need to be in order for me to heal and move forward. He needs to be in a place in my eyes where he’s taking full accountability for his actions, period. No matter how it looks and feels. It insults me when he says mistake.”
She then pointed out that she and McKinley had been intimate even when she was pregnant.
“All the rough stuff that he said that I went through, he was literally by my side,” shared Williams, who had learned of McKinely’s infidelity when Pilar Jhena was only 3 months old. “And that’s one of the things that was really difficult.”
“I’m terribly disappointed and I’m hurt,” she said.
Regardless of why McKinley strayed, Williams said she needed to decide what was next for their family.

“It’s just been really hard,” Williams told McKinley. “All these choices that I’ve had to make, I’ve been having to be strong because we have a daughter. She needs to know that at the end of the day, if Dad is here, he wants to be here. He’s going to be faithful, he’s going to be great to her mom, he’s going to be great to her.”
Doing it for her daughter meant that Williams had to confront the complicated emotions she was feeling, especially the fact that she loved McKinley even though he had betrayed her.
“I haven’t wanted to tell him that because I feel like he didn’t deserve to hear that,” Williams told Dr. Sherry, turning to McKinley. “I felt like I was giving you something, but I have to let that go about giving you something. I have to let that go about, ‘Oh, he’s going to know I forgave him so now he won’t be sorry anymore. ‘F– that.’ “

“At the end of the day, this is a serious situation,” Williams said. “Our daughter is growing up by leaps and bounds every single day. If we’re going to be together for her, we’re going to have to start working on it. … If you’re going to live how you want to live because that’s just what your loins want, we can move on with our co-parent life. But if you are really trying to make a commitment over here, that’s what I want to know from your heart.”
McKinley assured Williams that he was committed to their relationship.

“I want us to be together and that is not a co-parent situation. I apologize again,” he said to Williams, before addressing Dr. Sherry. “I hope [Porsha and I] can get to a place where we start to communicate more and she can give me another chance.”
That’s what Williams wanted to hear. “I am pissed but through all the hurt and the pain, I realize I do want my family,” she told McKinley. “It’s a work in progress. I can’t just like, start trusting you over night. It’s not going to work like that … [but] I’m going to try to do it.”

“Honestly, I do not know how long it’s going to take me to forgive Dennis because if we get back together, it has to be real,” she told audiences. “Because what I’m not going to do is have my daughter be in a house with fake love. Whether it takes six months, whether it takes a year, I’m going to take my time.”
Their session ended with a hug. McKinley and Williams even rode off together in the same car (though she said he wasn’t allowed to stay over).
Since filming that scene, Williams and McKinley have reconciled. They’re even planning again on walking down the aisle.
“We are re-engaged,” said Williams during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this month.

Asked by Cohen if she trusts McKinley now, Williams said the two are “still working it out.”
“We’re working on our family. It takes time,” Williams said. “I love him and he loves me and we’re doing what’s best for our family. That’s really all you can do.”
“You have to have trust,” she added, stressing that they were “absolutely” working to rebuild that and planning on getting married next year.
This will be Williams’ second marriage. She was previously wed to former NFL star Kordell Stewart, from whom she split in 2013.
Williams and McKinley dated for a year before getting engaged last September, just two months after Williams learned she was pregnant with their daughter.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

#NewMusicVideo JoJo “Sabotage” Ft. Chika!
R&B songstress JoJo follows up her soul, hip-hop-infused new track “Sabotage,” featuring fellow Warner Records artist Chika, with a supporting music video. In the James Larese-directed clip, a tearful and emotional JoJo strolls through the city as she recalls the pain of heartbreak.

On “Sabotage,” JoJo reminds us that we’re all human and sometimes we ‘Sabotage’ ourselves by letting our emotions get the best of us.
“A lot of people self-sabotage… I tend to do it in romantic relationships. And I think most of it roots to fear – fear of being inadequate, fear of getting hurt, fear of rejection, fear of not measuring up…,” states JoJo. “This song is about asking a lot of questions, dealing with shame and embarrassment, and really just owning up to certain patterns.”

“Sabotage” continues JoJo’s movement of sharing new music since signing with Warner Records earlier this year through a joint venture with her own Clover Music. Her new album is expected in 2020.

#HipHopNews: Meek Mill Says He Was High When He Dissed Drake!
During a no-holds-barred interview with Charlamagne Tha God, the Philadelphia rapper admitted that he was addicted to Percocet painkillers and was popping 10-30 pills a day at one point.

“I was taking 10-30 Percocets a day,” said Meek. “You walking with death. You pop two in the morning, they gon’ wear off by four.”
He admitted to being a “junkie” before cleaning up his act. “I had to make a decision with myself. You gon’ be a high pill popper or you gon’ be a millionaire bossed-up-type ni**a and they ain’t mix. I ain’t never seen a millionaire bossed-up pill popper in my life.”
The drugs even triggered his beef with Drake when he took to Twitter in July 2015 to call him out for not writing his own lyrics. Looking back, he says he’s not sure why he went at the Toronto rapper.

“If you ask me why I came at Drake, I don’t even fuckin’ really, really, really know,” said Meek. “Everybody be sayin’ Nicki and shit, that wasn’t the case. They always had their relationship before me. They dealt with each other before I got in the situation. I could never let that be the one reason why I’m mad at him or I feel some type of way. I just ain’t really know when I look back. I’m like, ‘You know what, the fuck I wanna do something like that?'”

Charlamagne said it was because he was high to which Meek agreed, saying the drugs led to bad decisions. “I’m making very bad decisions and not knowing I’m making these bad decisions. When I wasn’t high and I look back and went on YouTube and checked my fall, I’m like, ‘I don’t do shit like that.'
Meek, who is now recording his next album in the Bahamas, also opened up about finding his purpose, Nipsey Hussle’s impact, his REFORM Alliance, and the future of Dream Chasers.

Jay Z & Beyoncé Reunited With Kanye West & Kim K. At Diddy’s Birthday!
Are Jay Z and Kanye West back on good terms? That’s the question on everyone’s mind after the two were spotted in a photo together at Diddy’s 50th birthday party.
The extravagant event featured a plethora of famous guests including Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West, Kylie Jenner, Cardi B, Offset, Pharrell, Lil Kim, Post Malone, Khloé Kardashian, and The Weeknd. It was Jay Z and West who commandeered everyone’s attention, though, as the two haven’t been spotted hanging out together since 2016.
The photo op in question featured Jay Z and West standing on opposite sides of Diddy. Pharrell also posed in the photo. Later, another video from the party surfaced that shows the two musicians talking to each other and laughing. Seems pretty harmless, but it’s a pretty big deal given everything that’s happened between the two of them.
Back in 2016, West called out Jay Z on stage at a concert, revealing that their kids "ain’t never even played together.” Kanye was also reportedly hurt that Jay Z and Beyoncé skipped his 2015 wedding. Jay Z addressed the alleged beef in a 2017 interview for Tidal.
“Like, Kanye is my little brother. He’s talked about me a hundred times. He even made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem,” Jay Z said.
All of these incidents, plus West’s wildly controversial antics over the years, have seemingly caused Jay and Bey to distance themselves from the Kardashian-West family, so to see these two together at the end of a tumultuous decade in their friendship speaks volumes.

#BoxOfficeNews: 'Jumanji 2' Roars to $60M Opening!
While the studio attempted to downplay expectations, Sony's Jumanji: The Next Level opened at the top end of industry expectations, leading the weekend charge with a December studio record opening and getting the box office off to a strong start for the holiday frame. Though, it has to be mentioned, that strong start didn't trickle down to the weekend's two other new wide releases as both Universal and Blumhouse's Black Christmas and WB's Richard Jewell fell well below expectations.

The $60.1 million opening for Jumanji: The Next Level is the 13th largest December opening ever and the largest December debut for Sony. While the film will have to contend next weekend with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the opening weekend performance, along with a strong audience reactionwhich gave the film an "A-" CinemaScore puts it in a fantastic position heading into the Christmas holiday frame. Two years ago Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sat at $52.7 million after its first five days in release and went on to gross over $404 million domestically and nearly $1 billion worldwide, serving as the largest domestic gross in Sony's history. Can the sequel take it to the... next level?

In terms of audience, the film played to a crowd that was 56% male and only 29% of the overall audience was over the age of 25, which speaks to its ability to appeal to a younger audience base. In fact, while the gender demographics are the same as the first film, 45% of the opening weekend audience for the first film was aged 25 or older, which means not only did the sequel bring in a larger crowd, it brought in a younger crowd at that.

Internationally, The Next Level got its overseas start last weekend and this weekend added 34 new markets for a total of 52, from which it brought in an estimated $85.7 million, pushing its international total to $152.5 million for a $212.6 million global cume. This weekend saw the UK lead all markets with a 5-day total of $12.6 million followed by Russia ($8.9m) and Germany ($4.6m). The film has still yet to release in Italy (Dec 25), Australia (Dec 26) and Brazil (Jan 16).
Slipping to second for the first time since release, Disney's Frozen II brought in an estimated $19.2 million to kick off its fourth week in release, pushing the film's domestic cume to $366.5 million. Added to that, the film's overseas total has now blossomed to $666 million for a global cume totaling $1.032 billion. This makes Frozen II Disney's sixth $1+ billion global release of 2019 alone. It also serves as the third Walt Disney Animations Studios release to top $1 billion alongside Frozen and Zootopia and the seventh largest animated release ever worldwide. It also now stands as the tenth largest animated release domestically of all-time, moving ahead of Inside Out.

Third place belongs to Lionsgate's Knives Out, which added an estimated $9.25 million this weekend, pushing the film's domestic cume just shy of $80 million. In addition to that, the film added another $13.6 million from 73 international markets this weekend for an overseas cume that now stands at an estimated $83.3 million, for a global tally topping $162 million with releases in Germany (Jan 2) and Japan (Jan 31) still to come.

Fourth and fifth place belong to the weekend's two other new wide releases, both of which were expected to reach $10+ million, but struggled to hit half that number, both finding a place within the top 50 worst openings ever. First is WB's Richard Jewell, which opened in just over 2,500 locations with an estimated $5 million. The Clint Eastwood drama was never able to get started and while it received an "A" CinemaScore from opening day audiences, it seems the abundance of adult-targeted features in theaters right now was just too much to overcome.

Hallmark Reverses Stance on LGBTQ Zola Ads Under Pressure, Looks to Reinstate Them!
The Hallmark Channel is apologizing and reversing course after it had pulled four commercials for the wedding planning website Zola that featured a same-sex couple kissing during their marriage ceremony, saying Sunday night that it hopes to reinstate the ads.

Hallmark CEO Mike Perry said in a statement:

“Earlier this week, a decision was made at Crown Media Family Networks to remove commercials featuring a same-sex couple. The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as we’ve seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused. Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision. Our mission is rooted in helping all people connect, celebrate traditions, and be inspired to capture meaningful moments in their lives. Anything that detracts for this purpose is not who we are. As the CEO of Hallmark, I am sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused.

Hallmark is, and always has been, committed to diversity and inclusion – both in our workplace as well as the products and experiences we create. It is never Hallmark’s intention to be divisive or generate controversy. We are an inclusive company and have a track record to prove it. We have LGBTQ greeting cards and feature LGBTQ couples in commercials. We have been recognized as one of the Human Rights Campaigns Best Places to Work, and as one of Forbes America’s Best Employers for Diversity. We have been a progressive pioneer on television for decades – telling wide ranging stories that elevate the human spirit such as August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson and Colm Tóibín’s The Blackwater Lightship, both of which highlight the importance of tolerance and understanding.
Hallmark will be working with GLAAD to better represent the LGBTQ community across our portfolio of brands. The Hallmark Channel will be reaching out to Zola to reestablish our partnership and reinstate the commercials.

GLAAD’s reaction to the news was swift. “Victory!” GLAAD’s president and CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis, said in a statement. “The Hallmark Channel’s decision to correct its mistake sends an important message to LGBTQ people and represents a major loss for fringe organizations, like One Million Moms, whose sole purpose is to hurt families like mine. LGBTQ people are, and will continue to be a part of advertisements and family programming and that will never change. GLAAD exists to hold brands like The Hallmark Channel accountable when they make discriminatory decisions and to proactively ensure families of all kinds are represented in fair and accurate ways.”

Hallmark Channel had pulled four of six commercials for the wedding planning website that feature a lesbian couple celebrating their nuptials with a kiss after the conservative group One Million Moms called for a boycott of the network. The two women’s “public displays of affection” violates the channel’s policies, a spokesperson for Hallmark told The New York Times. An account representative at Hallmark’s parent company, Crown Media, also told the NYT that the channel did not accept ads “that are deemed controversial.”

In response, a representative for Zola said in a statement Saturday that it would pull all of its advertising from the Hallmark Channel “for the foreseeable future,” saying, “We stand behind this commercial 150%. We want all couples to feel welcomed and celebrated and we will always feature all kinds of love in our marketing.”

Why Some Rihanna Fans Are Upset About Her New Documentary!
Amazon has reportedly shelled out $25 million for the rights to a documentary on Rihanna, which promises to be "an unfiltered look into Rihanna's life." And while fans are excited about more Rihanna content, they're also torn — because as cool as a doc would be, it's not a new album.
Frustrated fans have waited for a follow-up to Rihanna's 2016 album, ANTI — just google Rihanna and you'll see NPR's list of "25 Songs We Bumped While Waiting For Rihanna's Album" and Junkee's list of "Everything Rihanna Did In 2019 Instead Of Releasing Music." Which, to be fair, is a lot: released an autobiography, became the richest woman in music, and essentially created a beauty, fashion, and lingerie empire.

The untitled Rihanna documentary reportedly features over 1,000 hours of footage that will delve into her personality, sense of humor, work ethic, family and love

It might not be an album, but we'd be fools to say no to hours of footage of Rihanna's inspirational journey.

Teen Questioned In Stabbing Death Of New York College Student Released!
Police have released a 14-year-old teenager being held for questioning in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Barnard College freshman, Tessa Majors. According to law enforcement sources, the teen was present with his lawyer during questioning and made no statements. Police officials decided not to charge him at the current time, so he was released. The 14-year-old is not believed to be who stabbed Majors.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested Friday and charged with murder, robbery and weapons possession, according to ABC News. He made statements incriminating himself and implicating two other individuals, according to the authorities. He is also not believed to be Majors’ killer, but he did allegedly pick up the knife and give it to another teenager after the stabbing.
Majors was attacked by an unknown number of people on Wednesday night as she walked through Morningside Park near campus, police said. She managed to get herself out of the park and onto a nearby street where a school public safety officer spotted her and called 911. She, unfortunately, died shortly after at a local hospital, according to the New York City Police Department.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement shortly after the attack, “The close-knit community at Barnard College is in shock right now. We’ve lost a young woman full of potential in a senseless act of violence. I want every student and every member of faculty to know your city will be with you in the days ahead. We will find the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to justice.”
Sian Leah Beilock, President of Barnard College, said in a statement, “These past two days have been a time of deep sorrow as we mourn the loss of one of Barnard’s community members, who had only just started the journey here. In the months ahead, we will formally honor Tess and celebrate Tess’ life. For now, I urge you to hold Tess and the family in your thoughts and in your hearts. Support each other, lean on each other, and take care of yourselves.”

Harvey Weinstein is CONDEMNED By Alleged Victims over new interview!
Alleged victims quickly condemn Harvey Weinstein over new interview originally appeared on abcnews.go.com
Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein bragged about how much he's supported women in the film industry in a new interview published Sunday.
Weinstein, who is facing a criminal trial over claims he raped a woman in a hotel room in 2013 and committed a forcible sex act on a second woman in 2006, told the New York Post in his first interview in a year that his work advocating for women as been forgotten in the wake of the allegations.
"I feel like the forgotten man,’" he said in the interview given last week following a court appearance. "I made more movies directed by women and about women than any filmmaker, and I'm talking about 30 years ago. I'm not talking about now when it’s vogue. I did it first! I pioneered it!"

He has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges and contends he never had nonconsensual sex with any of the dozens of people in the movie industry who have accused him of misconduct.
Weinstein, 67, gave the interview to dispel rumors he was playing up an injury for sympathy when he arrived at court with a walker, according to the Post. He underwent back surgery earlier this month to treat injuries from an August car accident.

His bail was raised to $2 million at the Dec. 11 court appearance in Manhattan due to claims that he violated his ankle bracelet monitoring requirements dozens of times.

The reactions to Weinstein's claims in the new interview were swift.
"Everything that Harvey Weinstein has done professionally for women is overshadowed by the serious allegations of sexual misconduct made by more than 60 women," lawyer Gloria Allred, who represents a number of accusers, said in a statement to ABC News. "He states, 'I feel like the forgotten man.' He is not forgotten. He is a defendant in a high profile criminal case in which he is charged with serious crimes against women including rape, criminal sexual assault, and allegations of predatory sexual assault."
"Gwyneth Paltrow in 2003 got $10 million to make a movie called 'View from the Top,'" Weinstein told the Post, referring to a movie he produced at Miramax. "She was the highest-paid female actor in an independent film. Higher paid than all the men."

Paltrow has accused Weinstein of making unwanted advances toward her in the late-'90s.
Actress Caitlin Dulany, one of the women who were involved in the civil suit Weinstein and his production company settled last week, told ABC News on Sunday she was "sickened" by the comments in the interview.

"This is self-promotion gone terribly bad," Dulany said in a statement. "Harvey abused his power to assault women and destroy their careers, myself included. To talk about his good deeds for Gwyneth Paltrow whom he harassed when she was 22 and whose career he held in his hands at that time is at the very core of this abuse of power."
Fellow accuser Katherine Kendall told ABC News in a statement, "He seems disturbingly out of touch. What he did shattered countless women’s lives. It’s time now to listen to the women, it’s time for us to reclaim our power."

The criminal case against Weinstein is expected to go forward in January.
"The issues and charges in the criminal case should be the sole focus at this time," Allred said. "Whatever he has done professionally for women may or may not be relevant at the time of sentencing if he is convicted. For now, any attempt by him to recast his tattered reputation or to appear to ask for sympathy will only serve to trigger many of those who allege that they are victims of Mr. Weinstein."

Mathew Knowles Clarifies Jagged Edge Harassing Beyoncé & Kelly Rowland Claim!
*We wouldn’t exactly call it backtracking, but Mathew Knowles is clarifying his earlier comments about certain members of Jagged Edge harassing Beyonce and Kelly Rowland.
Knowles made the comment while being interviewed on VladTV while pointing out that the two JE members were over 21 and the girls were under 18
“I feel the need to clarify that I did not say the girls were sexually harassed while on tour with Jagged Edge in the 2000s. I said ‘harassed,’ ” Knowles told Page Six. “The term ‘sexual harassment’ may imply to some to mean physical advances. I would classify the harassment they encountered more as unwelcome and inappropriate remarks to minors from adults who should have known better.”

Here’s what we reported earlier: Knowles, who managed Destiny’s Child at the time, told VladTV the girls would call him and say they were “constantly being harassed” on tour. “Now remember, the girls are minors. They’re 16 years old … The guys are 21 and 22 years old. I have a fiduciary duty with minors. By the law, there’s a certain way I have to manage that,” he said. Watch
