Regina King for Entertainment Weekly - Entertainers Of The Year Issue 2019!
From Entertainment Weekly: Regina King does a little chair dance when she recalls her peak 2019 moment. It is minimal in movement, but radiantly joyful, her recollection suffused with an endearing mixture of pride, incredulity, and childlike giddiness.

If you have followed the actress-director’s distinguished career — from her formative years spent on the hit sitcom 227, to the long list of memorable roles in movies like Boyz n the Hood and Ray, to her indelible voice work on The Boondocks and Emmy-winning turns on prestige dramas like American Crime — it may not be the moment you think it is.
A few weeks before the Oscars, King — who has amassed a clutch of television directing credits, including Insecure and This Is Us — had just met with producers about helming her first feature film, One Night in Miami. “My agent called and said, ‘They’re going to roll with you, they don’t want to see anybody else,’ ” she recalls before launching into a series of big grins, shoulder shimmies, fist pumps, and a slide down in her chair. The 48-year-old L.A. native sits up with a laugh and says reassuringly, “It was my driving version of that. I did pull over. I can say it now, I was like, ‘If I don’t win the motherf—ing Oscar, that is okay. I’m about to do a film.’
In perhaps the world’s best having-cake/eating-it-too scenario imaginable, King nabbed that mofo for her steely and anguished turn in If Beale Street Could Talk. And it just got better from there, with her deservedly buzzed-about performance as Tulsa police detective Angela Abar (a.k.a. Sister Night) on HBO’s Watchmen, the provocative series from Damon Lindelof that picks up the action in the world of the beloved graphic novel three decades later.
After appearing on the showrunner’s The Leftovers, King was down to suit up for him again. “[Lindelof] had the script delivered with a lovely note, saying that he sees me as this and would I take this ride with him,” she recalls on a recent Sunday morning during her EW cover shoot. “I started reading the pilot and five pages in I was like, ‘Oh, oh, he’s going here? Black Wall Street?’” she says of the harrowing opening scene depicting the 1921 Tulsa massacre. “I had to just sit with that for a second because it had been something that my sister and I, for a long time, had been like, ‘Why hasn’t this story been told?’”

That Watchmen went there — and several places beyond in both real and fictional American history — with regards to white supremacy is still astonishing to King. Plus, she loves kicking ass. “It is so much fun,” she says, which is part of why she enjoys telling people her age. “I’m waiting until I’m damn near 50 to be a superhero. What?”
Given her impressive (and impressively consistent) résumé, it seems plausible that King was bitten by a radioactive Cicely Tyson and Pam Grier in some bizarre community-theater/science-project mishap as a child. But her superpowers — empathetic eyes, finely attuned BS meter, and that air of around-the-way-girl realness she brings to every role no matter how elegant or gritty — are intrinsically hers.
She is excited to pour all of that into directing One Night in Miami, which is still in the early stages. Based on the play of the same name by Kemp Powers, it imagines what happened when Muhammad Ali (then Cassius Clay), Sam Cooke, Malcolm X, and NFL star Jim Brown holed up in the Florida city following Ali’s triumph over Sonny Liston. While she loves acting, a lifetime spent on sets made her want more.

“If the pinnacle was just to win an Oscar, then that’s kind of sad,” says King. “The award is great, but nine times out of 10, that is usually not the reason the person set out to express their art in a public way.” She laughs, then clarifies: “By no means am I saying, ‘Hey, you could take it back.’”

#RHOA: Eva Marcille Drops $780,000 On Georgia Home, Despite Marlo Hampton and Her Money Problems Accusation!
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Eva Marcille purchased her family a $780,000 mansion
According to official records, the reality star bought the 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom, 4,700 sq. ft. Alpharetta, Georgia home on November 26.
Earlier this month, the reality star revealed the home purchase on Instagram. She shared a photo of herself standing in front of the new digs. She captioned the post, “When God says Yes! #Blessed #TheSterlings #WeAintGotIt.”
Marcille purchased the home by herself and without any help from her husband Michael Sterling. She took out the mortgage solely in her name.
The real estate listing touts a full bathroom with walk in shower, butler’s pantry, spacious family room, gourmet kitchen, sunroom, huge master bedroom and retreat area, 10-foot ceilings and upgrades throughout.
Marcille’s residence had become a bit of a thing on “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Marlo Hampton spread rumors that Marcille was having financial issues claiming that’s why she moved around.
Marcille quickly shut the speculation down and explained her moving was out of safety. She fears her ex Kevin McCall could show up. Marcille has been open about the alleged abuse she suffered while with McCall. She even called her ex a “psycho” on a recent episode of “RHOA”.

Marcille has spoken on the situation in the past, “Domestic violence is very, very real. I went through domestic violence. I finally found the courage to come up and talk about it about a couple years ago about what I went through with Kevin. I feel bad for women that have to deal with it. And it's actually not a laughable matter; it's something that actually makes you feel so little so you don't want to talk about it, but it really sucks."
Back in October, Marcille welcomed a baby boy named Maverick, whom she shares with husband Michael Sterling.

Marcille has been having quite the “RHOA” season with her sticking up to Kenya Moore and Marlo Hampton.

Lizzo Named TIME Magazine’s Entertainer Of The Year!
It'd be hard to argue that anyone has had a better year than Lizzo.
The singer-songwriter-rapper-flutist went from a relatively low-profile artist to one of the hottest, most consistent frequenters on music’s top charts in 2019.

The boptress has been grinding non-stop following the release of her third studio EP, Cuz I Love You. But it was the chart-topping success of her revived sleeper hit, “Truth Hurts,” that catapulted her to fame. She’s been a mainstay on the charts ever since, blessing our speakers with other empowering feel-good odes like “Good as Hell” and “Juice.”

For some, her sudden success may seem it like it happened overnight. But for those in the know, Lizzo has been steadily making music for years while struggling with homelessness, anxiety and the loss of her father. It was just this past summer where the songstress revealed to PEOPLE that she had seriously considered quitting music two years ago when it seemed like her career was going nowhere. But a pep talk from her team rallied her spirits and, thankfully, the rest of the world caught on to the magic of Lizzo, who leads the 2020 Grammy Awards with eight nominations.
Yet no one else has been more surprised by the change in circumstances than Lizzo, whom TIME named the 2019 Entertainer of the Year on Wednesday (Dec. 11) for their latest magazine issue.

'I’VE BEEN DOING POSITIVE MUSIC FOR A LONG-A** TIME,' THE 31-YEAR-OLD SONGSTRESS REFLECTED IN THE PUBLICATION’S ACCOMPANYING FEATURE ARTICLE
“Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialized thing. Now I’ve seen it reach the mainstream. Suddenly I’m mainstream!”

ALTHOUGH LIZZO ADMITS SHE HAS HAD ONE HECK OF A YEAR, IT DIDN’T COME WITHOUT ITS CHALLENGES
“I was experiencing a little bit of unhappiness. I was not happy with the way I felt to my body. I didn’t feel sexy, and I didn’t know when it was going to end. There were times when I would go onstage and be like, ‘Y’all, I’m not going to lie. I’m not feeling myself.’ Sometimes I’d break down and cry,” she divulged. “I was getting sick a lot. I was like, What the f-ck is going on? I need to fall back in love with my body.”

IN TERMS OF DEALING WITH THE CONTROVERSIES THAT HAVE COME HER WAY, LIZZO ADMITS SHE HAS TO 'BITE [HER] TONGUE ON CERTAIN THINGS'
“When people challenge my talent, they challenge whether I deserve to be here. They challenge my blackness. I’m like, ‘Oh! I can easily just let your a** know right now in 132 characters why you’re f**king wrong,’” she said.
ULTIMATELY, LIZZO IS STILL GRATEFUL FOR HOW FAR SHE HAS COME, ALTHOUGH THERE’S ONE THING SHE WOULD GLADLY DO WITHOUT...
“I didn’t want to be famous,” she playfully shared. “I wanted to be like Brandon Boyd from Incubus! I just want to go to the farmers’ market.”

Congratulations to Lizzo on a stellar year, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll be stirring up at the top of the new decade!

Justin Timberlake’s Wife Jessica Biel is Not Pressed About Photos Of Him Holding Hands With Co-Star: She’ll Never Break Up Her Family Over Something Like This!
Jessica Biel is said to be unbothered after her husband Justin Timberlake was spotted in a compromising position with one of his Palmer co-stars earlier this month.
It was previously reported that Justin Timberlake held hands and got extra close with actress Alisha Wainwright.
While many were shocked to see Justin Timberlake in this type of position, his wife Jessica Biel is reportedly not that pressed. An insider close to the couple told PEOPLE that Jessica Biel is “standing by” her husband of seven years.

They added, “Obviously Justin drank too much this time, but Jessica believes he didn’t cheat on her. What’s most important to her in life is her family and being the best mom to Silas. She’ll never break up her family over something like this.”

Timberlake also issued a public apology on his Instagram. He wrote,
“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love.
A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better.”
He added,
“This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.”

He ended by saying he’s excited about the Palmer film that they are currently filming. Alisha Wainwright has stayed quiet since the photos surfaced.

What do you think about Jessica Biel’s stance?

'Surviving R. Kelly' Part 2 Is On The Way: See The Explosive Trailer!
More survivors of R. Kelly's alleged abuse are ready to share their stories with the world.

On Wednesday (December 11), Lifetime announced the release date for the follow-up to its wildly successful documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which shared harrowing recounts of Kelly's alleged sexual abuse — told by seven alleged survivors — over the last 20-plus years.
The upcoming six-hour series, titled Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning, is set to air on January 2 and will run for two hours a night for three consecutive nights, concluding on Saturday, January 4. The Reckoning picks up where Surviving R. Kelly: Part I left off, sharing interviews from new alleged survivors, music industry insiders (Damon Dash, Mathew Knowles, Jimmy Maynes), activists (#MeToo Founder Tarana Burke) and many others, such as W. Kamau Bell, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Angela Yee, Gloria Allred and State’s Attorney for Cook Country Kimberly M. Foxx, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The docu-series will also share the fallout from the first documentary, showing Kelly — who was hit with 18+ counts of sexual misconduct and other charges in Chicago, New York, and Minnesota earlier this year — turn himself into police custody.

WATCH
As previously reported, part one of the docu-series, which was viewed by nearly 27 million viewers to date, sparked the #MuteRKelly, led to Kelly being dropped from his label, and seven weeks after it was released, the disgraced singer was charged with his first set of felony charges — 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Kelly is currently behind bars after being denied bail by a Brooklyn judge back in October. The disgraced singer had previously asked to be freed while awaiting trial because he claimed that he didn't have enough money to flee and was in poor health. However, Brooklyn prosecutors said that Kelly was lying about his financial status and even presented evidence to show that he directed his lucrative royalty checks into a friend's bank account.

Judge Ann Donnelly sided with prosecutors, denying the bail request, noting that Kelly is accused of committing crimes involving “very young girls,” his finances are “murky, to say the least” and his legal team's proposed home detention “certainly would do nothing to deter him” from intimidating witnesses, Page Six reported.

Blake Shelton Wants To Marry Gwen Stefani But It 'Isn't Currently Possible'!
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are ready to tie the knot however there’s one thing standing in the way.
People reports that the couple’s holding off on getting married due to Stefani’s faith. The pop singer wants a church wedding as a part of her Roman Catholic faith which supposedly “isn’t currently possible.”

Shelton and Stefani met on the set of The Voice in 2015 when Stefani joined the show as a judge alongside Shelton. They began dating just after both of them went through divorces. “Blake was very serious about Gwen right from the start, and early on he thought about proposing,” an insider tells People.
Shelton might’ve been ready to propose from the start, but due to Stefani’s desire to have a church wedding, it hasn’t been possible. The Roman Catholic faith does not allow remarriage after divorce unless the earlier marriage is annulled, which can be a lengthy process.

Despite the setback, the couple is still confident they’ve found “the one” in each other and are “very serious” about the relationship. A friend of the couple says, “It’s definitely headed toward marriage.”
“They’re all very like-minded and comfortable with each other,” says the friend. “Gwen brings this sparkle to the country world. Her love for Blake is clear, and she’s been embraced by everyone.”
Shelton recently shared that he believes his faith has grown stronger since he started dating Stefani. The country singer credits his girlfriend for helping him regain not only his faith in love but also in God.

"I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life," Shelton told The Tennessean. "The biggest part of that is just how [Stefani] came into my life and now our relationship. It's just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn't make sense. If you put God into it, everything that's happened with us makes sense."

#RHONY Star Tinsley Mortimer Denies Quitting Show After Scott Kluth Engagement!
Tinsley Mortimer is setting the record straight in regards to the rumors that she's done filming "The Real Housewives of New York" after she got engaged to Scott Kluth. The reality star denied the rumors that she was pressured to quit the show by her fiancé after saying "yes" to his proposal. While she admits to taking a break from filming, Tinsley Mortimer reveals she's heading back to the Big Apple in the next few days and will begin shooting again for the long-standing Bravo series.

Why She's Been MIA: “Scott and I have been celebrating our engagement in Chicago, where I will soon call home,” she tells People, adding they took a break away from cameras to celebrate with their loved ones. “The last few weeks have been such a wonderful whirlwind of excitement, and we both wanted to spend this special time with each other and our families," she states. Tinsley continued by telling the outlet that they are anxious to get back to real-life. “As with many relationships, life does not completely stop for love, which is why I will continue to honor my work commitments in NYC while Scott focuses on CouponCabin’s busy season in Chicago," she states.

Luann Started It: When it comes to the rumors that she's done with "RHONY," Tinsley Mortimer says that's not true. “It’s important for me to set the record straight. Any reports saying that I had to decide between Scott or the show are 100 percent untrue. We are enjoying this incredibly happy time in our lives," she states.

Bravo fans freaked out after her "RHONY" co-star Luann de Lesseps appeared to reveal that Tinsley would no longer be apart of the cast during her cabaret show in New Jersey over the weekend. Speaking to her audience, Luann implied that Mortimer was done with the show and that Tinsley's mother was probably "more upset that Tinsley’s not filming anymore now that she’s marrying Scott than Tinsley is.” A source told People that Kluth "urged" his fiancée to walk away from "RHONY," something Tinsley Mortimer denies. The couple, who met in 2017, got engaged on November 24.

Prince's Sister Paid MILLIONS For Portion Of Her Ownership In Singer's Estate!
Prince's sister has been paid millions for a portion of her stake in the late singer's estate, and the company who purchased it also owns a portion of Whitney Houston's estate.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the company which purchased the portion of Prince's estate from Prince's sister Tyka, is asking the court to give it equal footing in the Minnesota estate case.
The company says it paid "millions" to purchase this portion of Prince's estate.

Singer's Sister Paid Millions The filing states, "Primary Wave Music has acquired a substantial ownership interest in the Prince Estate. It is not a mere creditor or party with a tangential interest. Having invested millions to acquire an interest in the estate, Primary Wave stands in the shoes of the heirs from whom it acquired its interest, and there is no legal basis to distinguish between the interest of Primary Wave and interest of any heir."
They continued, "Once it purchased a portion of Tyka Nelson's vest interest in the estate, Primary Wave's standing relative to the estate administration proceedings became legally indistinguishable from that of the other vested heirs."

Company Owns Stake In Whitney Houston's Estate
The company claims along with its purchase of the asset, it wants to be involved in decisions made by the estate regarding the music. Tyka has told the court she has turned over power-of-attorney to the company.
PW is also in discussions to purchase Alfred Jackson's portion of Prince's estate.

In the documents, the company says, "Primary Wave made its substantial investment to acquire an interest in the estate with the goal of adding value by offering its industry expertise to assist Comerica and the heirs in bring these proceedings to a prompt and efficient resolution. In addition to this estate, Primary Wave has purchased assets from the estates of Whitney Houston, Glenn Gould, and Count Basie."

Providing Value To Prince's Estate.MThe company says with respect to the three other estates they have had no issues with anyone involved
In fact, they claim, "Primary Wave's participation in the estate caused no disruption or problems in the estate administration. On the contrary, Primary Waves' involvement with these estates has provided real value through marketing, digital strategy, and branding, and to this day Primary Wave maintains excellent relationships with the estates and families."

It was reported today, the Library of Congress National Film Registry added Prince's Purple Rain to its catalog. According to the L.A. Times, Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It” and Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty" also were added.

Steve Harvey revives talk show on Facebook Watch at Tyler Perry Studios!
Steve Harvey has revived his TV show in a new home: Facebook Watch. He taped several episodes at Atlanta’s Tyler Perry Studios earlier this month. “Steve on Watch” will premiere January 6, according to Variety, which broke the story.

Facebook has committed to ten weeks. “Reaching my audience anywhere and everywhere they are has always been the goal,” Harvey said in a statement. “Facebook Watch viewers are the most energetic, engaged community, and so are my amazing fans. Getting all those people to directly engage on a platform like this is the perfect evolution of the show.”
Harvey debuted his first daytime talk how “Steve Harvey” out of Chicago in 2012 and it ran until 2017. It’s unclear if it will feature a studio audience.

Harvey, 62, maintains huge ratings for his syndicated morning show in Atlanta on Majic 107.5/97.5 and continues to do well hosting “Family Feud,” which was shot in Atlanta for years but is now shot in Los Angeles.
