JLO Jennifer Lopez Covers Variety Magazine!πŸ’–
Jennifer Lopez is on the cover of Variety‘s latest issue! Here’s what the 50-year-old actress and entertainer had to share with the mag…

On how her relationship with Alex Rodriguez makes her stronger: “He loves being at every show that he can be at. I go to all his baseball games. There were times in my life when my career was going great, and my personal life was going OK. And there were times my personal life was stable, but my career was not great. This is the first time where I have a really beautiful alignment between the two. I think Alex brought that for me. I love it. We have a beautiful life.”

On more than one Hollywood director remarking on the size of her backside: “They would never say to a guy, ‘Your d— is really big.’”
On doing a G-string dance in Hustlers: “I was terrified. I felt exposed. I was like, ‘I’ve never done anything like this. I’m going to be up there in f—ing dental floss. What is this? Who is this person?’ And then you get up there, and you have to have a ‘f— you,’ empowered attitude. You have to take your power back. You have to be so bold. It’s almost like when you say you’re a rock star, you have to be arrogant to go up there in front of all those people or you crumble. You realize it’s the same type of balls that it takes to do something like that. And these women have that. They are tough, hard, vulnerable and damaged. It’s a great character to play.”
On how joining American Idol in 2011 as a judge helped boost her career: “It was a big turning point in my career. Everybody was like, ‘Don’t do this. Your career will be over, and they won’t offer you any movies. They’ll think you’re a joke as an artist.’ And I was like, ‘The truth is, I’m not getting offered a whole bunch of movies, so what are they not going to offer me?’”

#Empire: Shots Fired! 50 Cent Goes at Empire Over Ratings War: “You Did Know I Would Win In The End Right”!πŸ™„
New York rap star 50 Cent is feeling extra confident these days. The hip-hop veteran has trolled Fox’s “Empire” series ratings with the mighty return of his “Power” season six.
Fif went to Instagram Sunday to promote a Los Angeles Times article comparing the two popular TV series.

The featured Los Angeles Times story heavily focuses on “Empire” taking a dip in series ratings since premiering five years ago.
This fall, Fox will launch the sixth and final season of “Empire,” once TV’s hottest drama. Although the series, which debuted in 2015, still has a loyal following, its viewership has declined, and the show in recent months has been clouded by the case of costar Jussie Smollett, who was accused of staging an apparent hate crime against himself in January. (Prosecutors subsequently dropped felony charges against Smollett.) The actor will not be in the cast when “Empire” returns. (Los Angeles Times)
The same article also mentions how “Power” has continued to grow in popularity since its 2014 debut.

The reception was indicative of the underrated power of “Power.” The show doubled its viewership during its first season in 2014, and has grown each season since. It has remained the most popular series on Starz, which is heavily promoting the 15-episode final run, which starts Sunday, with building wraps and large billboards featuring the glowering black and red images of stars Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora, the criminal brothers-in-arms who are now locked in a blood duel. #NewMusic from Tuxedo ‘The Tuxedo Way’πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί
It's been a little over a month since Tuxedo dropped their new LP, Tuxedo III. Their obviously third album brings the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk with Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One's signature flair and fun. We typically see those attributes in their music videos in everything from their wardrobe to the plots. While the dapper duo is usually suited and booted in tuxedos, they go for a more casual look in branded sweatshirts in the visual for their single "The Tuxedo Way.

"The cool cucumbers Mayer and Jake are joined by a troupe of dancers who pop and lock all around an abandoned building in the video. The camera moves from room to room, following the dancers' energetic moves. The multi-ethnic group is led by Ian Eastwood who also directed the clip

For more funky sensations from Tuxedo, be sure to spend some quality time with their latest project.

Rapper Meek Mill’s legal saga is finally over….He’s Free at Last!πŸ™Œ
Rapper Meek Mill reached a plea deal in court today, effectively ending his 12-year-long legal saga.

Mill pled guilty to a 2008 charge of possessing a firearm without a license. The remaining six charges he was originally convicted for have been dropped, and he’s no longer on probation.
“I’m very thankful from the bottom of my heart [to] everybody that ever mentioned my name or said ‘Free Meek’ or helped me get to this position,” Mill said to a crowd after the hearing.

Mill became entangled in the legal system after being found guilty of seven charges back in 2008, including drug dealing and gun possession. He spent eight months in prison but was sentenced to 10 years probation. Minor offenses kept him in and out of prison over the past 12 years. But through investigations conducted during that time period, the ethics of Mill’s assigned judge and the officer who testified against him in court were called into question. Mill has become an outspoken activist for criminal justice reform, cofounding the REFORM Alliance organization with Jay-Z and others.
Amazon’s docuseries Free Meek chronicles Mill’s story from the trumped-up and fallacious charges to the ray of hope that became today’s court hearing.

“I know ya’ll probably got family members in jail or people going through the same thing as me,” Mill said. “And I will continue to do what I do with the REFORM [Alliance] movement and help the people who helped me.”

IT'S HAPPENING! Eddie Murphy finally returning to host Saturday Night Live in Season 45!πŸ˜„
After more than three decades, Eddie Murphy is returning to the show that made him a star.
Murphy will host Saturday Night Live on Dec. 21, marking his first turn as host in 35 years. Famously, despite being one of the show’s most widely beloved cast members and one of its most successful alumni, Murphy has largely avoided SNL since 1984, when he departed the show to pursue a film career.

Murphy made his SNL debut in 1980 at the age of 19 and rapidly ascended to stardom. He is often credited with keeping the show alive during the infamous Lorne Michaels-less years, making his mark with such characters as The Little Rascals‘ Buckwheat, the Mr. Rogers spoof Mr. Robinson, and a hardened version of Gumby.

In 1982, Murphy stepped in to host the show when scheduled host (and Murphy’s 48 Hrs. costar) Nick Nolte fell ill, and remains the only person to host SNL while still a cast member. He departed the show two episodes from the end of the season in 1984, returning to host in December of that year. He has not returned to the show or participated in any retrospectives since, aside from a very brief appearance on SNL‘s 40th anniversary special in 2015.

In a 2011 Rolling Stone interview, Murphy commented on his relationship with SNL, saying he “felt sh—ty” about jokes made at the expense of his career. (In a 1995 sketch, in the midst of a career slump for Murphy, David Spade showed a picture of the actor and said, “Look, children, a falling star!”)

“What really irritated me about it at the time was that it was a career shot,” Murphy said in the interview. “It was like, ‘Hey, come on, man, it’s one thing for you guys to do a joke about some movie of mine, but my career? I’m one of you guys. How many people have come off this show whose careers really are f—ed up, and you guys are sh—ting on me?'”

SNL returns for its 45th season on Sept. 28 with Woody Harrelson hosting.

Bobby Brown's Lawyer Says Singer Was NOT Struck By A Vehicle His Sister is FAKE NEWS!
Bobby Brown's camp is speaking out. The singer's sister, Leolah Brown Muhammad, hopped on Facebook and said that the New Edition singer had been seriously injured after he was hit by a speeding car! Not only that, she alluded to it being an ordered hit on his life. In her Facebook post, she said her brother was walking when a car came "straight for him" and hit him in an attempt to "kill him." She even fired shots at Bobby's wife, Alicia Etheredge, suggesting she may have had something to do with the accident.

Now, Bobby's lawyer is speaking out, disputing her claims. “There are reports circulating that Bobby Brown was hit by a car over the weekend and substantially injured both his legs. The reports are false and Bobby Brown was in Los Angeles enjoying time with his family this weekend," Bobby's attorney Christopher Brown told The Blast.
"Mr. Brown was not struck by a vehicle over the weekend and statements from Leolah Brown to the contrary are fake news," he continued.
The "Prerogative" singer was spotted with his wife, Alicia, and their kids, shopping at the Farmer's Market in Studio City over the weekend.  Leolah didn't givce the date of the alleged incident, but it surely sounded recent.

Apparently, the legendary singer is just fine and he's gearing up to head out on tour in Japan and Australia in October 2019 with RBRM (Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky & Mike).
Fans hopped in Leolah's comments about Bobby's lawyer calling her story "Fake news," but she's sticking to her story.

Wendy Williams Confirms She has A Step-Daughter from Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter!πŸ˜₯
As you know, Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter’s marriage ended amid rumors that the man cheated with a mistress for years and even got her pregnant! During a new interview, the talk show host confessed that the baby Hunter Sr. had while still married to her is a baby girl.
Wendy is used to gossip and drama since discussing it is literally her job.
However, a few months ago, her own life became a ‘hot topic’ since her husband of over two decades was caught after pretty much leading a double life for years.

But not only did he cheat, he also got the mistress pregnant.
As much as Wendy would have wanted to save the longtime marriage, this was too much and she filed for divorce, starting a brand new life as a single woman.
While chatting with The New York Times, Wendy got more candid about the situation than ever, even talking about the 5 month old baby girl that resulted from the extramarital relationship.

‘Kevin has a daughter. I was on a plane 2 days ago. I was next to a man probably wondering, Who the hell’s this lady with a negligee? I just love a negligee. He was watching Page Six TV, and said, ‘Is that you?’ And I said: ‘Yes, it is me. Please don’t tell me what they are saying,’’ she shared.
Wendy also mentioned that after all that’s happened between them, she is still hurt and refuses to speak badly about her ex for more than just one reason.

‘Kevin had a major indiscretion and he will have to deal with it for the rest of his life. An indiscretion I will not deal with. He’ll always be family, because we have a 19-year-old son and we were together for 25 years and married for 21. But there was no vacillating. I am out. That is all I can say. People want me to hate and scream and talk. I won’t,’ she said.

A crying Wendy argued that she doesn’t drag him through the mud because he was her first love.
She also mentioned that she’s a forgiving person but the one thing she could not be part of was Kevin having a child with another woman. So she filed for divorce.

Serena Williams beats Maria Sharapova in two games against old rival to reach US Open second round!🎾
Serena Williams's return to the Arthur Ashe Stadium proved a stunning contrast to her last appearance she imperiously crushed old foe Maria Sharapova on the first night of the US Open.
The 37-year-old American took only 59 minutes to humble Sharapova 6-1, 6-1 before an expectant crowd under the lights of Flushing Meadows. Her excellence reduced the evening to something of a non-event.

'Obviously I am going against a player who has won five Grand Slams, every practice after the draw was super intense,' said Williams. 'When you play her have to be super focussed. She gets momentum and gets going, it was a fun match. The body is good, my back is a lot better, I'm excited.'
Getting past such an awkward first round represents the perfect tournament start for Williams as she seeks a 24th Grand Slam title, and should sound a warning to other contenders.

After the opening night ceremony featuring Billie Jean King, and watched by the likes of Spike Lee and Mike Tyson, the American came out absolutely primed and steamrollered the first set after a couple of tight early games.
Buoyed by her record of having beaten Sharapova eighteen consecutive times she unleashed her returns, even though the Russian's serve – often a weakness – was functioning perfectly well.

There was none of the drama that accompanied her last appearance on the Arthur Ashe Stadium, when she came close to being defaulted in the 2018 final against Naomi Osaka. There was no way her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, would be giving hand signals this time.
Neither player has been able to participate a great deal in the tour this season, but Sharapova was bound to be hurt by only having 11 matches under her belt, as opposed to Williams's 24.
Williams reeled off seven straight games before Sharapova got on the board again to trail 2-1 in the second and had a hint of hope when she created two break points, the second of which was saved by a blinding backhand pass.
It proved temporary respite as Sharapova, who was playing at a level that would be too much for many players, was broken again. In the end she won only 12 points in the first set and 16 in the second in what became a no-contest.

Sharapova, now ranked 87, continues to be a shadow of the player she once was before being banned for taking Meldonium, while Williams must assume the status of clear tournament favourite after this pulsating display.

A measure of Sharapova's woe is that she lost every point in the match when she did not land her second serve in.

John Travolta Mistakes Drag Race’s Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift When Presenting Video of the Year at the 2019 MTV VMAs!😲
Adele Dazeem part two? John Travolta mistook RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday, August 26.
The Grease actor, 52, took the stage with Queen Latifah to present Video of the Year. To avoid another awards show snafu, Travolta asked Latifah, 49, to read the winner.
“I shouldn’t do this because I’ll just mispronounce s–t and f–k it up,” he said referencing his viral moment from the 2014 Oscars where he mispronounced Idina Menzel’s name as “Adele Dazeem.”

Turns out, Travolta had a blunder regardless. After Latifah announced the winner as the music video for Swift’s song “You Need to Calm Down,” the Hairspray star accidentally gave the Moon Person to the wrong person. Video of the moment.  shows Travolta trying to hand the trophy to Jolie, who extends her arm for a hug instead. While this is happening, Swift is still at her seat, hugging those around her.

Another added “Anyone else notice that John Travolta tried to hand the award to the drag queen version of Taylor Swift?!”

Johnson & Johnson Ordered To Pay $572 Million For Its Contribution To Oklahoma’s Opioid Epidemic!
A judge has ruled against the company Johnson & Johnson after it was found to have greatly contributed to the opioid crisis in Oklahoma.

On Monday, a judge ordered #JohnsonAndJohnson to pay $572 million in the state’s opioid crisis trial for the first ruling in the U.S. holding a drug company responsible for helping fuel the epidemic. Calling the opioid crisis an “imminent danger and menace,” District Judge Thad Balkman said, “the state met its burden that the defendants Janssen and Johnson & Johnson’s misleading marketing and promotion of opioids created a nuisance as defined by [the law],” including a finding that those actions compromised the health and safety of thousands of Oklahomans.

“Specifically, defendants caused an opioid crisis that’s evidenced by increased rates of addiction, overdose deaths, and neonatal abstinence syndrome,” he added. J&J plan to appeal the ruling; the company and subsidiary Janssen were found to have repeatedly downplayed the risk of addiction to opioids, training sales representatives to tell doctors the risk was 2.6% or less if a doctor prescribed the drugs. Physicians who prescribed a high amount of opioids were targeted as “key customers.”

According to CNBC, the $572 million judgment will go towards the state’s plan to combat the epidemic. However, the attorney general’s office presented several witnesses who said it would take at least 20 years to carry out. “The state did not present sufficient evidence of the amount of time and costs necessary, beyond year one, to abate the opioid crisis,” the ruling says. Reports show there are currently more than 40 states ready to pursue similar claims against the pharmaceutical industry.

Pixar’s New Movie ‘Soul’ Lands Star-Studded Cast: Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Questlove, Daveed Diggs!
The cast of Pixar’s star-studded new movie has a lot of soul, that’s for sure.

Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey will lead the voice cast for Pixar’s upcoming animated feature ‘Soul,’ an original film, which is also Pixar’s first black-led animated film. ‘Soul’ aims to crack open the origins of our passions, dreams, and interests that make us all human, according to Pete Docter, the movie’s Academy Award-winning Director.

According to Variety, ‘Soul’ imagines that every person on earth comes pre-installed with a soul and it’s perfected in a cosmic realm.  Foxx will star as Joe, a jazz-loving middle-school music teacher who dreams of playing at legendary New York jazz club ‘The Blue Note.’ He accidentally dies from falling through an open sewer grate and finds himself in the great hereafter, where souls are given personality traits before they move on to real humans.
Disney debuted a first look at the upcoming Pixar film at the ‘D23 Expo’ in California and announced its talented voice cast.

Following the announcement at the expo, Walt Disney Studios also tweeted out the first look some of the characters and a new piece of concept art.
Joining Foxx is Tina Fey as a character named 22, who is described as “a new soul with a loathing for earth.” She despises humans so much that she’s avoided Earth altogether. 22  and Joe eventually work together to find a way to get Joe back to Earth. “Joe’s adventure will make him think again about what it truly means to have soul,” said Docter.
Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, and Questlove will also join the cast. Rashad will play Joe’s mother; Questlove will play a character named Curly, the drummer in Joe’s band; and Diggs will play Paul, Joe’s neighborhood nemesis.

Like Pixar’s ‘Coco,’ ‘Soul’ is a musical movie and it is set to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2020.

Justice Department Seeks Death Penalty For Alleged Synagogue Shooter Robert Bowers!
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Justice Department will seek the death penalty for the Tree of Life Synagogue mass shooting suspect Robert Bowers.
Bowers is accused of killing 11 people at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill last October.
The filing backs up what U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady had indicated when he charged Bowers with the obstruction of an exercise of religious belief resulting in death, a hate crime that could merit execution under the federal system.

The filing is a blow to defense attorney and death penalty opponent Judy Clarke, who has tried to initiate plea bargain discussions with the government in an attempt to exchange a guilty plea and a life sentence for Bowers.
The decision to seek the death penalty comes shortly after two of the three congregations that worshiped at Tree of Life said they wanted Bowers to serve life and avoid the death penalty.

A week before the notice to seek the death penalty was filed, Stephen Cohen of the New Light Congregation told KDKA’s Andy Sheehan that a quick end to the process would have spared his congregants the trauma of living Oct. 27 all over again.
“The people who have to testify, the people who have to watch, the people who have to relive every day — it’s just mind-boggling,” Cohen said earlier this month.
In addition to killing 11 people and wounding others, the government cited Bowers’ planning, killing vulnerable victims, animus towards the Jewish faith and lack of remorse in their filing.

Congregation Dor Hadash wrote a letter to Attorney General Barr, saying in part:

“We believe that the elimination of a trial and publicity for the shooter serves the interest of our congregation, as well as the general public. A plea bargain for life without parole will prevent this individual from getting the attention and publicity that would inevitably come with a trial.”
A spokesperson for the Dor Hadash Congregation also said in the letter that a plea bargain for life without parole would “eliminate the possibility of further trauma” that could come from a trial and protracted appeals.
