#RHOA: FINALLY, ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ takes the top spot in the Ratings!
Without “The Walking Dead” to compete with, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” rose to the no. 1 spot in the Sunday cable ratings. The Bravo series scored a 0.7 in adults 18-49, down a tenth from its last episode, while “Real Housewives of Orange County” ticked up a tenth to a 0.7.
Additionally, “Dirty John” matched its series premiere’s 0.4 from the week before. On TLC, “90 Day Fiance” held steady with a 0.6, and E!’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” fell another tenth to a 0.4.

Similarly, BBC America’s “Doctor Who” failed to maintain a 0.3, and slipped back down to a 0.2. Starz’s “Outlander,” however, maintained its previous 0.2, and only fell slightly in total viewers from 960,000 to 958,000 this time around. The finale of HBO’s “Camping” continued the show’s season-long 0.1 streak.

#Empire Season Finale The Boss Reveals [Spoiler] Plays a Key Role in That Casket Mystery
Whew! Empire might be in its fifth season but the Fox drama is showing no signs of slowing down. Wednesday's emotionally draining hour forgot all about the holiday spirit and wrapped the first half of Season 5 on one shocking, demoralizing note.

After coming together to rebuild the empire they lost to Eddie (Forest Whitaker) and later Kingsley (A.Z. Kelsey), the Lyon clan found themselves once again splintered when Kingsley dropped a bombshell reveal during Lyon Family Management's artist showcase: Lucious (Terrence Howard) is his father. The stunning news was especially difficult for Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), who stormed off the stage and possibly out of her marriage.

And after Andre (Trai Byers) vowed to end Kingsley for destroying his family, it looks like those harsh words may actually come back to haunt him. A flashforward several months into the future shows Andre flatlining on a gurney, but it's unclear whether or not doctors were able to revive him. Could he be the mystery person in that coffin we've seen Lucious mourning over throughout a series of cryptic vignettes?

In an effort to find an answer to that very important question, we hit up showrunner Brett Mahoney for more clues about that mystery death and picked his brain about what's to come in the second half of the season. Check out the interview below and let us know who you think might be in that casket!

The last image we see is a flash forward to the future showing Andre flatlining on a gurney. Is it safe to assume that he's the one in the casket or do we have it all wrong?
Brett Mahoney: It's not safe to assume that. This is Empire! I will say that he is a big part, in a way, of the casket [mystery] but I will not confirm that he's in the casket. He may be.

What additional clues can you give about the identity of the person in that casket?
Mahoney: I think that being a Lyon and being a part of Empire is dangerous. As we will see, any number of people could be in that coffin.

Right now, Kingsley is determined to destroy the Lyons. How much of a threat will he be to that family in the second half of the season?
Mahoney: Kingsley will be a threat but, at the same time, Kingsley is also a Lyon. So I think a question for the back nine episodes is can the Lyons bring Kingsley in and make him part of the family or is he so angered, so crazed by what he's experienced that there's no way he can be brought into the fold and will therefore try and take the whole [family] down?

Given what's going on at the moment, it's impossible to imagine him being part of that family. But in the world of Empire, you never know.
Mahoney: The thing with Kingsley is, he's heard just one narrative in terms of how he is Lucious' son. He hasn't heard from Lucious and what Lucious' experience of that is. So hearing that might challenge the way that Kingsley sees himself and sees his role in that family. But of course, that would shake up his world so that may be a difficult pill to swallow.

And on Lucious' end, how will this knowledge that Kingsley is his son affect the way that he treats Kingsley moving forward?
Mahoney: Lucious is truly rocked by this news. He's someone who is down for his children to the extent that he can be down for them. Learning this, that Kingsley is coming for the Lyons and the way that he's come for Empire, has put Lucious on his heels. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Lucious try and reach out in some way to heal that wound that Kingsley has.

It's interesting that this episode ends with everyone walking away from Lucious given that this season so far has been about the family coming together to rebuild their empire. So where do they stand now? Who's gonna stick by him after all of this?
Mahoney: That's exactly the journey that they're gonna go on in this latter half of the season. A lot of this first half has all been about the Lyons coming together as underdogs and either trying to reclaim Empire or deciding to give it up to form this new company. This latter half [will be about whether or not] they're able to stay together. And also, what it might mean if they do get Empire back. What does it mean for their family? What does it mean for Cookie and Lucious?

Cookie has stuck by Lucious through a lot but this feels like a different beast. How will we see Lucious try to win her back and what will it take for her to forgive this latest indiscretion?
Mahoney: What Cookie first needs to learn is what exactly happened and is this a indiscretion? Did this happen before her? Did it happen while they were together? Did it happen during their marriage? She has questions, first off, that she needs to get answers to and then she'll move on from there. But regardless of that, Cookie has stood by him through a lot of stuff. As we saw in this episode when she finally gave up the condo, she's all in with their [effort] to try and make Lyon Family Management a success and get back Empire only to be blindsided by another shock coming from Lucious. Whether he's fully responsible or not, it's just something else that she's blindsided with and how much more of that can she put up with?

Giselle (Nicole Ari Parker) offered to work with the Lyons to oust Kingsley from Empire if they agree to make her co-partner. Can she be trusted? Whose side is she really on?
Mahoney: Giselle has been really upfront and clear at who she is and whose side she's on. Giselle is on Giselle's side and she will go wherever is necessary to make sure she gets what she wants and achieves what she can. After what happened with Eddie, she's never gonna let that happen to her again. I don't think that she minds making alliances, whether that be with Kingsley or with Lucious and Cookie in order to get herself further ahead. She goes where the power is and where she sees it's gonna get her the furthest.

Even though Hakeem (Bryshere "Yazz" Gray) and Tiana (Serayah) have broken up, there's obviously still lingering feelings there so how will that affect their attempt to co-parent while not being together romantically?
Mahoney: They have real feelings and emotion for each other but they're finally saying we need to put our kids first and that might mean we need to seek healthier relationships outside of one another. There's the intellectual thing which is "Yes, we're gonna do that" versus the emotional thing of actually moving forward. That will be a challenge for both of them moving into the second half of the season.

Is it possible for them to be in a healthy relationship together or is that an impossible feat?
Mahoney: I don't think it's impossible because everything has to do with timing and where they are in their lives and where they are at their maturation level. It's something difficult for them to achieve right now but there may be a time.

Is there hope that they'll rekindle things in the future?
Mahoney: Well, but at the same time, that doesn't mean that they won't find something else before then. It may be decades before they get back together.

Hakeem and Blake (Chet Hanks) also came together in this episode so is their beef officially squashed or is this peace only temporary?
Mahoney: At least for now, they will temporarily squash that because Blake does feel like a part of their family and he loves those kids. He is just as traumatized by what happened to Bella and also these threats to the kids that made them want to maintain the peace.

There was some flirting going on, at least on Blake's end towards Tiana earlier this season. Will that continue or will it end now that his feud with Hakeem is over?
Mahoney: Blake is definitely carrying a torch for Tiana. After the shooting at the end of last season, since the three of them had been through that experience, they have been bonded and spent a lot of time together. Blake's feelings for Tiana are real. At the same time, Tiana sees Blake as a friend. She's been more focused on being a mother and her career and Hakeem so she hasn't really been able to pay attention to Blake.

After arguing over whether or not to release an incriminating dossier on Lucious, Kai (Toby Onwumere) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) decided to take a break from their relationship. How long will this time out last given that Kai has a full-time job waiting for him in London?
Mahoney: Kai and Jamal truly love each other. And so, I think one of the essential questions for Jamal is, is he gonna be Kai's husband or is he gonna be Lucious and Cookie's son? Jamal has to come up with some sort of answer for that before they can be together.

What can you tell me about the remaining episodes? What will the second half of the season be focused on?
Mahoney: The second half will be focused on... it's sort of like moving forward. All the Lyons have to ask themselves is it more important to be themselves or is it more important to be a Lyon family unit? And also, what does it mean if they were to have Empire back in family hands? Do they have to give up their souls to keep Empire? What will they have to sacrifice if they have Empire?

Empire returns to Fox in 2019.

Offset's Alleged Mistress Summer Bunni Begs For Cardi B's Forgiveness
Shortly after the news broke that Cardi B and Offset had (allegedly?) broken up, a woman named Summer Bunni is taking responsibility for the dissolution of their relationship. In a video obtained by TMZ, Summer pleads for forgiveness through her tears and claims she hasn’t hooked up with the Migos rapper since Kulture was born in July.

“I have not messed with Offset since he had his baby,” she says. “I didn’t know how serious this marriage was. Um, I kinda read or kinda see things. It took until today to actually get into seeing everything. A lot of girls would just deal with this situation and be like, ‘Yo, like I took Cardi B’s nigga’ or ‘I’m the reason they getting a divorce.’ I feel ashamed.

“To Cardi B, to her fans and to her family and to her situation, these were never my intentions. I never wanted to break up a happy home. Or to cause anyone to say just, ‘Fuck it’ to get a divorce. No, I have not spoken to Cardi B. I would like her to know I am a very genuine person. I’m not here to break up her family or mess up what she has going on with her husband.

She adds, “I’m very sorry that this happened. I’m very sorry I didn’t think of my worth as a young lady. I just hope she can overcome this. I know she and Offset do have love for each other. I can tell. With this, I hope she can focus on her love for Offset.”
At this point, the timing of the rap couple’s relationship drama is bordering on suspicious. Offset is dropping his debut solo album on December 14 and as of last week, the pair seemed like they were on track. On November 28, they were photographed cuddling up to each other as they watched the Atlanta Hawks play the Boston Celtics.

Whatever the case, Nicki Minaj fans believe Black Barbie is secretly thrilled Cardi’s personal life is seemingly in turmoil. Meanwhile, Cardi just shared the first photo of Kulture on Instagram. Only time will tell if Cardi will weigh in on this latest chapter in the couple’s ongoing saga.

Tyler Perry Surprises Layaway Shoppers At Two Atlanta-Area Walmarts and PAID THEIR TAB!
Customers with layaway items at two Atlanta-area Walmarts got a great holiday gift from Tyler Perry.
The locally based entertainment mogul announced on Twitter Thursday that he had paid off all the items on layaway at the Walmarts in Douglasville and East Point.

Perry spent about $434,000 on the holiday surprise, but there is a catch: His gift is only for items put on layaway at those stores before 9:30 a.m. Dec. 6.
In addition, customers have to pay one cent to pick up their items.

Perry explained his generous gift in the Twitter video:

“I know it’s hard times, everyone’s struggling and I’m just really, really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this,” he said
Perry also said in the video that he intended the layaway payments to be anonymous, adding, “You know nothing stays secret these days.”
A Walmart manager at the Douglasville location told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the store usually has about 1,000 layaway accounts at this time of year.
The manager, who only gave her first name, Shameka, told the paper she’s never seen such a generous act while employed at Walmart.

“I was shocked,” she said. “It shows that we know there’s still good people in the world.”

GOOD LOOK Tyler!

Former 'SNL' writer Nimesh Patel kicked off stage at Columbia University for 'inappropriate' standup set that seemed homophobic and racist to some!
A former “Saturday Night Live” writer was yanked off stage in the middle of a performance at Columbia University for telling jokes about race and sexual orientation that made students uncomfortable, according to a new report.
Indian-American comedian Nimesh Patel was performing stand-up at an event organized by the Columbia Asian American Alliance on Friday when he told a gag about a gay black man in his neighborhood, the Columbia Spectator reports.

Patel, who wrote for “SNL” in 2017, said being gay can’t be a choice because “no one looks in the mirror and thinks, ‘This black thing is too easy, let me just add another thing to it.'”
About half an hour into the set, members of the alliance stopped it and ripped into the comic for joking about race and sexual orientation, the student paper reports.

Patel tried to defend his material, saying he was just discussing ideas from “the real world,” but his microphone was cut, according to the report.
In a statement, the student group said Patel’s set ran “counter to the inclusive spirit and integrity” of the event.
“We acknowledge that discomfort and safety can coexist, however, the discomfort Patel caused was unproductive in this space,” the Columbia Asian American Alliance wrote on its Facebook page.

In an op-ed for the Spectator, a Columbia student said the incident was an attack on free speech and comedy on campus.
“A comedian’s job involves speaking freely and with some edginess. If we wish to keep comedy alive on campus, we can’t invite comedians to do their job and then cut them off as soon as it’s not being done in precisely the way we like,” wrote Malia Simon.
“The survival of comedy depends on the principle that if comedy is to remain good for you, it must sometimes be not good for you.”

But another student, whose pals organized the show, called Patel’s set a “trainwreck.”

“Patel’s mic wasn’t just cut off because he told offensive jokes to a sensitive, snowflake audience, which is the narrative that I see being talked about. He was booted off the stage because he sucked the energy out of an entire auditorium,” wrote Liberty Martin.

‘New York Undercover’ is getting a Reboot For ABC
Dick Wolf is reportedly developing a “New York Undercover” reboot for ABC.
Wolf’s agent and WME head of television Rick Rosen spilled the tea during a Q&A at the Paley Center on Tuesday.

Via The Hollywood Reporter: The reboot, which Wolf’s agent and WME head of television Rick Rosen cryptically mentioned Tuesday during a Paley Center panel, is written by Ben Watkins (Amazon’s Hand of God), with Wolf and his Universal Television-based Wolf Entertainment banner’s Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski attached.
The drama would be a co-production between Universal Television and ABC Studios.

Universal Television, Dick Wolf and ABC declined to comment on the project – I guess because it’s too early for the chatter.
“New York Undercover” starred Malik Yoba, Michael DeLorenzo, Lauren Velez, Patti D’Arbanville and Josh Hopkins and was one of the dopest dramas on television between 1994-1998.

I was momentarily excited about a reboot until Rick Rosen said, “It’s a franchise you can redo that doesn’t necessarily have to have the same cast.”

Uh Oh? Viewers Trash ‘The Voice’ Coach Adam Levine for Making Case to Save Sick Nonperforming Contestant While Ignoring DeAndre Who Did Perform
Adam Levine has irritated fans of “The Voice” after he pleaded with America to save one of his contestants over the other, leading many to feel the singer who remained got to stay unfairly.

The coach’s two competitors, Reagan Strange and DeAndre Nico, were in the bottom three on Tuesday night’s episode, along with Dave Fenley from Blake Shelton’s team. As is typical of the show, Nico and Fenley performed their final songs in hopes that they would continue on in the competition. But 14-year-old Reagan remained backstage in a bathrobe, as she was too sick to sing.
“This sucks, man,” Levine began after the performances. “DeAndre, you’re an exquisite singer. I’m a little confused as to why you’re in the bottom. …  There is an unbelievably talented little girl right now who is not able to fight for her position on this show. And you were fortunate enough tonight to be able to sing and you sang like a champ. … I can’t sing for Reagan. Reagan has to sing for Reagan and she’s not here. … As much as I urge you all to vote for this man — because he should never have been in the bottom — I don’t know if I have the heart to not tell everyone right now…

“I have a very special relationship with Reagan. And I have two little girls at home,” the coach continues. “The thought of breaking [Reagan’s] heart by not urging everyone to give this girl a shot to go and redeem herself next week would be too far beneath me. So, I want you to know I love you. I appreciate what you’ve done here tonight. And honestly, I think you should both be there. But I’ve got to fight for my girl. And I got to make sure I represent her properly in this moment because she didn’t have a voice tonight. So I’m going to use it for her as well as I possibly can.”

Levine’s speech moved viewers enough to give Reagan the Instant Save but that didn’t sit well with everyone watching. They eagerly gave the Maroon 5 frontman an earful on Twitter.
“Unbelievable how @adamlevine pushed DeAndre under the bus for Reagan. I’m no longer pulling for Adam anymore. That was really unacceptable. #VoiceSaveDeAndre.”

“@adamlevine How effin rude. You screwed DeAndre big time. You should be fired for what you did. That was embarrassing for me to watch on TV. I can’t imagine how embarrassed you made DeAndre feel. By the way, What kind of special relationship do you have with this little girl? Ewww.”

“Really Adam Levine. @adamlevine You should be fighting for both your contestants not picking one over the other @NBCTheVoice. #voicesaveDeandre .”
“#VoiceSaveDeandre DeAndre is 10x the vocalist that Dave is and Reagan didn’t even sing tonight. You don’t get to pass through if you can’t sing. Tough break but that’s the biz.”

However, Nico isn’t taking the decision to heart. He explained on Instagram that he was thankful for his shot on the show and assured folks that “all is well on my end.”
“You can never take an L when you’re operating from your heart,” Nico, 22, said on Instagram Dec. 4. “So even though I didn’t win I still won! The experience on The Voice itself is a win for me. I give all honor to God for giving me the exposure needed for my next steps in life. To my family, Voice family, and fans there’s no way I can personally thank all of you but I know that I love you all entirely. All is well on my end. My journey continues, now y’all get DeAndre Nico himself. There’s work to be done. Stay tuned.”

#POLITICS: REPORT: Trump Team Mulls Booting Pence For 2020
Vanity Fair reports: On Monday, Trump hosted a 2020 strategy meeting with a group of advisers. Among the topics discussed was whether Mike Pence should remain on the ticket, given the hurricane-force political headwinds Trump will face, as demonstrated by the midterms, a source briefed on the session told me.

“They’re beginning to think about whether Mike Pence should be running again,” the source said, adding that the advisers presented Trump with new polling that shows Pence doesn’t expand Trump’s coalition. “He doesn’t detract from it, but he doesn’t add anything either,” the source said.

Last month, The New York Times reported that Trump had been privately asking advisers if Pence could be trusted, and that outside advisers have been pushing Nikki Haley to replace Pence.

Written by Rae, Kittrell and Aniobi, The Dolls, inspired by true events, recounts the aftermath of Christmas Eve riots within two small Arkansas towns in 1983…riots which erupted over, yes,…Cabbage Patch Dolls. The limited series explores class, race, privilege and what it takes to be a “good mother.”
Rae, Dern, Lemons and Deniese Davis (Insecure) executive produce. Kittrell and Aniobi co-executive produce.

Two-time Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Dern recently wrapped production on the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies, and is currently working on Greta Gerwig’s production of Little Women for Sony. Dern next will star opposite Allison Janney in Tate Taylor’s comedy Breaking News in Yuba County. She can recently be seen in Ed Zwick-directed Trial By Fire.

On the small screen, she was most recently seen starring in HBO’s The Tale, which earned Dern her seventh Emmy nomination, and on Big Little Lies which earned her a Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe award for her role as Renata.
Also prolific as a producer, Dern established Los Angeles-based Jaywalker Pictures production company in 2017 with her producing partner Jayme Lemons for film and television. They have a first-look TV deal with Platform One Media where they have hour-long series Mr. and Mrs. American Pie in development. Their other projects  in development are the films Candy & Mel, The Dog of the South, and a half-hour comedy from writers Arabella Anderson and Wendy West, based on Anderson’s life growing up homeless.

Rae received an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations for Best Comedy Actress for her hit show, HBO’s Insecure. Issa’s web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, was the recipient of the coveted Shorty Award for Best Web Show and her first book, a collection of essays, is a New York Times Bestseller. Rae made her film debut in the acclaimed drama The Hate U Give, and will also star in Universal’s Little, with Regina Hall and Marsai Martin releasing in spring 2019.

Dern is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment. Rae is repped by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney John v. Meigs Jr. Jaywalker Pictures is repped by CAA.
