The Daily Buzz For July 13 ☕πŸ“°☕

Saoirse Ronan Covers Vogue’s August 2018 Issue!
“Mary Queen of Scots” and “The Seagull” star Saoirse Ronan covers the August 2018 issue of Vogue magazine photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth and styled by Camilla Nickerson.

On watching herself on the screen: “I just get so anxious whenever I watch anything that I’m in,” she tells me. I ask what kind of anxiety she means. “I’m fine with the way I look now,” she responds carefully. “But I wouldn’t necessarily be looking at photographs of myself all day. I don’t want to become too consumed by the image of myself.”
On acting and being in front of the camera: “It’s very intimate,” she says. “There are certain moments where it feels like it’s just you and the lens.” This almost private experience is connected to the years she’s spent performing: “It’s something that has been a very stable, consistent thing in my life. The camera has been the thing that has stuck around the longest.”
On her approach to her career: “You want to be doing something in your life that wakes you up.” She rubs at her nose. “There’s something wonderful about doing the type of work that is a part of you,” she says, “because you can give it everything you’ve got. And it gives so much back to you as well. You become better. You become a better person.”

#RHoA: It’s OFFICAL! Kenya Moore won’t return to ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’
Kenya Moore is expecting a baby — and one fewer paycheck. According to Page Six, The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star will not be returning for the show’s 11th season.
Producers “offered her [a] part-time [role] and she didn’t want the reduction in pay. So she’s out,” the insider said.

Page Six previously reported that pregnant Moore, 47, was absent from a cast trip to support NeNe Leakes in South Beach, Fla., in June.
Moore joined the Bravo show for its fifth season, which ran from November 2012 to April 2013. She tied the knot with Marc Daly off-screen last year, and confirmed her pregnancy in April.
In June, she denied reports that she was leaving the show, saying on her Instagram page that she was “reviewing her latest offer.”

In the meantime she’s showing off her baby bump for her Instagram Family
A rep for Moore didn’t immediately respond to media request for comment. Well Kenya enjoy life and I’m sure where one door closes another one will open!

#Empire: The show gets ONE Emmy nod!
Empire has been nominated for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes at the #Emmys. But no acting nod were given nominations!

Congrats.

#HipHopNews: XO Festival Featuring T.I., Ludacris & Diplomats Canceled
The plug on a new festival that was scheduled to take place in Antioch, California between July 13-15 has suddenly been pulled with some strange circumstances surrounding it.

XO Festival was set to launch this week with multiple stages for celebrity hosts, music, and comedy. It was also supposed to have food and beverages from local purveyors in the Bay Area. But several reports have confirmed that artists and comedians who were billed to perform were either not paid or never confirmed, according to KQED. As a result, other acts pulled their involvement.

In a statement on their website, organizers of the festival wrote, “We are deeply disappointed to have to announce that due to the venue canceling the XO Music Festival earlier today and in part due to the fact that there were some negative media reports targeting us, with which we strongly disagree. The XO Music Festival scheduled to occur ‪on July 13-15‬ will be postponed to another time to be announced at a future date.” KQED also writes that in a since-edited statement, the festival claimed it was canceled due to low ticket sales.
The local police also provided a statement through their Facebook page.
As of July 10, there were no signs of a festival being prepped on the Contra Costa Event Park grounds, according to KQED.

Festival organizer Habibullah Said Qadir is also reportedly out on bail after being arrested for multiple identity theft and fraud felonies in February, according to FOX KTVU.
According to the Fremont Police, Qadir and his brother tricked landlords out of $120,000 in unpaid rent and damages for three years involving three high-end properties.

The festival was also forced to change its name from XOXO Festival to XO Festival after a trademark lawsuit with a festival of the same name in Portland.
Purported sponsors like BART and Thizzler also reportedly claim they were never involved with the festival, causing XO Festival to take their logos off the website.

One vendor, Tony B. Conscious, told KQED that a XO Festival representative told him that vendors made $12,000 from booths the previous year despite this year being the first time it would have taken place.

The Queen Oprah expands her food empire to True Food Kitchen!
Oprah Winfrey is cooking up something new. Winfrey's latest investment is in True Food Kitchen, a healthy restaurant chain backed by celebrity doctor Andrew Weil. Specific terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the Phoenix-based chain said she's also joining the restaurant's board of directors and will "collaborate and consult" with True Food Kitchen's leadership team.

"When I first dined at True Food Kitchen, I was so impressed with the team's passion for healthy eating and, of course, the delicious food, that I knew I wanted to be part of the company's future," Winfrey said in a release. She was introduced to the restaurant by her trainer and a regular on her former talk show, Bob Greene.

True Food Kitchen has grown to 23 locations in 10 states since its founding in 2008. It plans to double its store count in the next three years with a focus on an East Coast expansion. The chain's eclectic menu is based off Dr. Weil's anti-inflammatory food pyramid and features dishes like quinoa burgers, a spaghetti squash casserole and kale-infused drinks.
The investment in True Food is the latest example of Winfrey expanding her business beyond media and into food.

In 2015, she bought a 10% stake in Weight Watchers and received a seat on the board. She recently offloaded some of her shares, but her investment is still worth more than $400 million. She also has a partnership with Kraft Heinz Company for line of soups and frozen side dishes sold at grocery stores.

#RHONY’ star Luann de Lesseps is dating her married agent Rich Super
Luann de Lesseps has moved on — with her married agent. Sources dished the tea that de Lesseps and Hollywood agent Rich Super, who we’re told has recently filed for divorce from his wife, have been dating “for a few weeks” but that things are already getting serious.

Super, who also reps comedians including Artie Lange, has been representing de Lesseps for several months, since she began her booming career as a cabaret star in “The Countess and Friends.”
Pals of the “Real Housewives of New York” star — who is herself coming off a divorce from Tom D’Agostino — say that although they’ve only been dating a few weeks, the couple are very close already.

“He’s smitten with her,” said a pal, “and she’s very excited about it.”
Said another, “It’s very, very new [but they’re] exploring it.”

Last week, the star told us that she’s dating someone new, but wouldn’t say whom. She married D’Agostino on New Year’s Eve 2017, but the marriage imploded after a rocky few months. They split last summer.
De Lesseps and Super declined to comment.

Queen Serena Williams, will face Angelique Kerber in Wimbledon final
LONDON -- It's almost as if Serena Williams never left.
Even after more than a year away from the tour, even after a health scare while having a baby a little more than 10 months ago, Williams is still capable of dominance. Especially at Wimbledon, where she is one victory away from an eighth championship.

A relatively routine 6-2, 6-4 semifinal victory over 13th-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany on Thursday put Williams into her 10th final at the All England Club and moved her closer to a 24th Grand Slam title, which would equal Margaret Court's record.

"It's crazy. I don't even know how to feel, you know, because literally, I didn't expect to do this well in my fourth tournament back," Williams said. "I just feel like when I don't have anything to lose, I just can play so free, and that's kind of what I'm doing."

After hitting five aces with a serve that reached 119 mph, delivering 16 winners to only seven unforced errors, and covering the court so well with speed and effort against Goerges, Williams will face another German, 11th-seeded Angelique Kerber, on Saturday.

"Whatever happens, honestly it's an incredible effort from me," the 36-year-old Williams said, "and good motivation to keep going for the rest of my career."
The left-handed Kerber, a former No. 1 and two-time major champion, used a seven-game run to beat 12th-seeded Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-3. Kerber did not dictate much, content to let 2017 French Open champion Ostapenko determine the outcome of nearly every point.

By the end, Ostapenko had 30 winners but also 36 unforced errors. Kerber, meanwhile, limited her unforced errors to just seven.

Williams versus Kerber will be a rematch of the 2016 final at Wimbledon. Williams won that for a second consecutive title at the All England Club, then sat out the grass-court tournament last year while pregnant, part of a 16-month gap between majors.

"Seeing her back, it's great," said Kerber, who has lost six of eight previous matches against Williams. "I know that she is always pushing you to the limits to play your best tennis. This is the only chance to beat her." But you won’t beat her!

BLOOP! Forbes Responds To Backlash After Calling Kylie Jenner “Self Made”
They fully acknowledges that within the term ‘self-made’ there are many who are more self-made than others’
After Forbes magazine touted “America’s Women Billionaires” with Kylie Jenner on its cover, the backlash was immediate over the reference to the reality TV star as “self-made.”
A spokeswoman for Forbes told CNN the publication “fully acknowledges that within the term ‘self-made’ there are many who are more self-made than others.”
“In fact we began scoring members of the Forbes 400 on a scale of 1 to 10 to capture the variations,” the spokeswoman said. “The link to that is here. Yes, Kylie comes from a wealthy family and she got a visibility boost from her family but she owns her company and is valued based on earnings she has personally received and on the value of the company she founded.”

Chadwick Boseman To Star In Action-Thriller ’17 Bridges’
After securing the box office bag and setting new records with Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, has locked down his next role in the action-thriller, 17 Bridges.

According to Variety, Chadwick will portray a disgraced NYPD detective who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption.

“STX has assembled a dream team of collaborators on ’17 Bridges,’ bringing together the global talents behind two of the biggest action films ever made to give audiences a thrilling new take on the race-against-the-clock crime-drama,” STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson said.

“Chadwick Boseman’s razor-sharp instincts and undeniable charisma captivated millions of people around the world in ‘Black Panther,’ and Joe and Anthony Russo have breathed a new energy into the action genre with films like ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’” Fogelson added. “Their unique and intelligent approach to filmmaking is anything but formulaic, and with Brian Kirk at the helm directing, this film promises to go beyond the typical popcorn fare.”

17 Bridges will start production in September.

#TECHNEWS: Apple’s new MacBook Pro may have the boost for Performance you need!

Apple on Thursday announced a long-awaited update for the MacBook Pro, giving the laptops a much-needed performance bump but not any meaningful change in design. Most notably, Apple has not fully changed the design of the laptops’ keyboards, which have drawn serious complaints from consumers who find them unreliable.

The new models — one 13-inch model and one 15-inch model, both with Apple’s Touch Bar — have new chips that Apple said should dramatically increase performance. The company said in a press release that the 15-inch model is up to 70 percent faster, while the 13-inch model is twice as fast. Both have more storage than before: The 15-inch model can go up to a four-terabyte solid-state drive, while the smaller model maxes out at two terabytes.

The laptops will also have a new “Hey Siri” capability that allows people to trigger Apple’s voice assistant without having to hit a combination of keys beforehand.
The computers start at $1,800 for the smaller model and $2,400 for the larger version; with all the bells and whistles added, the most expensive version of the new models could cost $6,700.

Despite the upgrades, consumers may be unhappy to hear that these new computers retain the basic MacBook’s basic keyboard design — which has drawn three class-action lawsuits that claim it’s faulty. The slim design is supposed to cut down on bulk, but consumers report its keys are prone to stick and break easily — they can even be flummoxed by a single piece of dust, as was the case for the Outline’s Casey Johnston.

Apple says only a small number of people who use the MacBook have keyboards that are actually faulty and has launched a program offering free repairs for those people. But while the updated MacBooks have an “improved third-generation” keyboard that it promises will be quieter, the company has stayed committed to its key design.
Fans of Apple’s laptops have also been expecting updates to the more basic MacBook, as well as the lightweight MacBook Air. Neither have had a substantial upgrade in
years.

A research note from reliable Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo of KGI Securities published Thursday indicates there will be some upgrades this fall, though Apple may replace the MacBook Air with a “low-cost” MacBook model, 9to5Mac reported. The same note also speculates an update to the iPhone X, as well as two larger models of the iPhone — one with a 6.1-inch LCD screen and the other with a 6.5-inch OLED screen.

Apple declined to comment on the rumors.

‘Claws’ star Niecy Nash receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Actress Niecy Nash was honored with the 2,639th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday.

Nash, who grew up California and currently stars in the TNT series Claws, received her star in the television category during a ceremony in front of the Eastown apartment complex on Hollywood Boulevard.
"I am very, very grateful for this moment. I love my fans," Nash said. "I love all of you who have shown up, but I am warning you now, this star right here is just the beginning, not the ending."

Nash has appeared in various projects including Reno 911!, Getting On, The Soul Man, Dancing with the Stars and Scream Queens. She has been nominated for two Primetime Emmys and won a Daytime Emmy as the producer and host of Clean House.
Producer Ryan Murphy, who cast Nash on his 1999 show Popular, called the actress a "national treasure."
"My favorite thing about Niecy is that unique mixture of qualities she brings to every project, every meeting, every moment of her life," Murphy said. "She is hilarious and she is spot on always, but she is always a lady."
Comedian Cedric the Entertainer praised Nash for her personality and work ethic as a black actress in Hollywood.
"Niecy Nash was born to be a light that evolved into a star," he said. "She's so dynamic, she has that drive. She has the drive that is worthy of being here and being recognized today."
Nash said she was first inspired to be an actress at 5 years old when she saw Lola Falana on television in her "long black dress and eyelashes like butterflies" and told her grandmother I want to be black, fabulous and on television."

She recalled visiting the Walk of Fame at the age of 9 when she saw actor Ed Asner -- who attended the ceremony Wednesday -- and told him she'd one day have a star of her own.
"He walked away, and I was yelling, 'Remember my name,'" Nash said.
Near the end of her speech Nash reflected on the journey of her acting career and offered words of inspiration to her fans.
"It's been a long time from my beginnings in Compton to this moment," she said. "I just want to encourage anybody out there who has a dream, wait on it. Because though the vision tarries, you wait on that thing, but while you're waiting you better be working."

Laverne Cox and boyfriend celebrate one-year anniversary
Laverne Cox and her boyfriend, Kyle Draper, celebrated their one-year anniversary this week.
The couple, who have been very quiet about their budding romance, appear to have celebrated with a lovely evening out.

Cox, 46, who stars in “Orange Is the New Black,” shared four snaps to Instagram with the caption, “Happy 1 year anniversary babe. I love you so much!”
The actress and Emmy nominee debuted her beau on Instagram back in April.
The month prior, Cox said they met on Tinder and that things were moving smoothly.

“It’s incredible,” Cox said at the time. “It’s like love is so incredibly healing. I’m just so happy. When you’re happy … love is life-saving.”
The pair have already met each other’s families.

She added, “Everybody gets along. His family’s amazing. My mom likes him. It’s good.”

10’s Across The Board You better Strike A ‘Pose’ as FX has awarded the 80’s Ballroom Drama with a Season #2!
Just days before the penultimate episode of Pose is set to air on FX, the John Landgraf run cabler has rewarded the Ryan Murphy produced series with a Season 2.
“Ryan Murphy has once again revolutionized television with Pose, an incredibly engaging story of creativity, courage, compassion, love and family at a pivotal time in our culture,” said Landgraf today of the June 3 debuting show about the NYC trans community in the ’80s.

Now heading to Netflix in a $300 million deal announced in February, TV vet Murphy himself has called Pose “the highlight of my career.”

“As television critics have universally acknowledged, there is simply nothing like Pose on TV, so effortlessly excelling on every creative level and earning a place in television history for its infectiously inclusive spirit,” the FX boss added.  “We are honored to partner with our producers Ryan, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh, and the incredible cast and crew to continue this groundbreaking journey that is Pose.”
Pose‘s second set of moves, so to speak, will hit the small screen in 2019, the cabler stated.

Co-created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals, the house ball set series is EP’d by Murphy, Falchuk, Jacobson, Simpson, Woodall and Marsh. Canals and Silas Howard serve as co-executive producers, and Janet Mock, Our Lady J and Erica Kay also serve as producers too. Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions produce the first eight-episode season and will clearly being doing the same for Season 2.
