#EMPIRE: Season 4 RECAP: The Lyons' Version of a Red Wedding
The ball is in full swing, and Diana is in her element. She may be one shady bitch, but she's a shady bitch with an impressive list of contacts, including the mayor. Cookie and Lucious arrive and are denied entry, until Angelo announces they're with him and lets security know they can take it up with his mother.
Diana spots her son and his banged up face and wants to know what happened. Angelo has to explain the Lyons got to him, and they're on the premises.
Diana laid out some serious coin to score a fancy orchestra and is caught off guard when the musicians begin to play a tango, not one of the selections on her playlist. Cookie and Lucious take to the dance floor, and it isn't long before they're the center of attention. Diana orders security to throw them out, but Angelo reveals that Cookie and Lucious snuck in a militia with the musicians.
Yes, Cookie and Lucious have an entourage, including Jamal, Hakeem and some other Empire Entertainment musicians. They handily hijack Diana's party. Jamal and Hakeem take to the stage and announce they're going to perform a song for Andre who couldn't be at the ball because Diana put him in the hospital.
Lucious and Cookie rub it in Diana's face that she didn't bother to do background checks on the orchestra, assuming the "ghetto" didn't know about classical music. Hakeem and Jamal tear it up, singing the song they collaborated on together. Some of the crowd seems to dig it while most look confused.
Diana decides to bail on her own party, but Hakeem and Jamal are just the opening act. Cookie has more in store. Cookie takes the stage and introduces Warren who's appearing via satellite. Diana tries to shut it off, but the Lyons have everything on lockdown. Warren calls Diana out on all her shit.
Cookie tells the guests that they may know Diana as a philanthropist and a pillar of the community, but she ain't nothing but a "kidnapping, conniving, ho." Diana calls Cookie trash, insisting Cookie's allegations are unfounded and outrageous. That's when Cookie reveals Angelo signed a confession.
Cookie goes after Diana's daughter, Lana, next. It turns out Lana is pals with Dr. Lambert, and Cookie divulges how Dr. Lambert prescribed Andre psychosis-inducing drugs (cue gasp). Finally, Cookie brings up Diana pimping out her own nephew to break Jamal's heart. Cookie owns that her babies may be messy, but they're good and talented. They certainly didn't deserve the treatment they got from Diana.
The crowd starts to turn on Diana, but she remains nonplussed. She doesn't believe Cookie, her gimp of a husband or her intellectually-challenged children are in a position to judge her. She also lets the onlookers know that she finds them pathetic, and if it weren't for her, most of them wouldn't even be there.
The police arrive and arrest Diana for Bella's kidnapping. The rest of her clan tries to slink out unnoticed, along with Dr. Lambert (Angelo ditched the joint as soon as Warren started his tirade.)

#HIPHOPNEWS; Cardi B Connects with 21 Savage for ‘Bartier Cardi’ Single

Venus Williams will NOT be charged in fatal car crash!
Tennis legend Venus Williams was so burdened with grief (and possibly pangs of guilt) at this past summer’s Wimbledon grand slam tournament that she couldn’t finish a post-match interview because she was wracked by uncontrollable sobbing.
Williams has finally received some good news from the Palm Beach Gardens government. She’s been informed that she is officially not at fault for the fatal car crash that killed senior citizen Jerome Barson, ABC News reports.
On Wednesday, Dec. 20 the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department released their findings on the case. They said that no charges would be filed for the crash and stated that neither Williams nor the Barsons had violated each other’s right of way.
After the wreck, Williams told police she was “caught in the middle” of the intersection when another car turned in front of her. She had to stop to avoid hitting the other car. That’s when the Barsons T-boned her after they went through a green light.
The decision follows a July report from the investigating police department that Williams, 37, had actually “lawfully entered the intersection on a … green traffic signal” before the crash, which sent 78-year-old Jerome Barson to the hospital, where he later passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident.
As NPR’s Colin Dwyer stated, authorities initially suggested that Williams had run a red light before the collision, and body camera footage later revealed that the officer on the scene “told Williams he’d say she was at fault” before adding that he didn’t feel comfortable “writing a citation when I’m not 100 percent sure, and I’m not 100 percent sure in this case.”
According to police, the car, a Nissan Altima, violated Williams’ right of way. They spoke to the driver, but police said they would not file charges against that car either.
Therefore, no charges will result from the police investigation.

‘Jumanji’ Swinging In With $7M+ Wednesday; ‘Greatest Showman’ Receives ‘A’ CinemaScore!
(Deadline) Thursday AM writethru after Wednesday PM update: Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle grossed $7.1 million in its Wednesday opening, taking second place behind Disney/Lucafilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is looking at $17M. Industry projections remain bullish that the Jake Kasdan film will get into the $50M range by the end of Christmas Day. All studios have their eyes on Christmas Day, because it’s from that point that movie attendance explodes.
Sneaks for Jumanji for Amazon Prime members grossed $2M on December 8, and that cash will be rolled into its total cume.
CinemaScore audiences gave the Jumanji reboot an A- last night. Fandango reports that advance ticket sales for Jumanji are far outstripping Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart’s previous movie Central Intelligence ($35.5M three-day opening) and that 68% of potential moviegoers are planning to see the adventure comedy with their family.
In addition, Last Jedi remains the top-ticket seller and carries a domestic gross to date of $278.8M, pacing 23% behind Force Awakens at the same point in time. A final domestic haul north of $700M is the current prediction. Industry estimates believe that over the six-day Wednesday-through-Christmas run that The Last Jedi will mint $110M, which will take its running domestic total to $371.8M.
Slowing down numbers this week is the fact there aren’t as many kids out of school as a year ago, read 17% K-12 were off on Wednesday versus 38% last year. That’s when Universal/Illumination’s Sing opened to $11M on Wednesday, leading to a five-day cume of $55.9M and six-day cume of $75.5M. Christmas Eve on Sunday doesn’t help any of the films’ three-day figures. Where the studios will benefit is in the New Year: On January 2, there will be 69% K-12 out with another 50% on January 3, 40% on January 4 and 40% on January 5. That’s more than double the amount of elementary and high schools out on a daily basis than at the beginning of 2017.
20th Century Fox/Chernin Entertainment’s The Greatest Showman filed third Wednesday with $2.4M, which will still get the period musical to the low-$20M range by the end of Christmas. Again, it’s a marathon, not a sprint for these movies as distribution executives assess their fortunes by MLK weekend. While critics have been cruel at 48% Rotten, the original musical starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Zendaya proved to be a real crowd-pleaser with the CinemaScore audience, who gave it a solid A. Ninety-eight percent of potential attendees in a Fandango poll are Jackman fans, and 81% are looking forward to seeing another original musical this season.
ComScore is projecting a final year between $11.1 billion-$11.2 billion. If we come in at the high end of that range, that will beat 2015’s $11.1 billion, good for the second best domestic year ever after 2016’s all-time record of $11.4 billion.
WHO ROCKED IT BEST? Nicki VS Remy in the Battle for Balmain!
These two raptress who are enemies are really at a battle now. They both have on the same dress. Lets start with Nicki!
Nicki Minaj rocked this curve hugging Balmain dress, accented with an AlaΓ―a belt, to help raise funds at the charitiable Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief event held at the “Good Morning America” Times Square Studio in NYC back in September. The "Your Love" rapper finished her look with a pair of black sandals and she styled her hair in long, dark wiggery with a part down the middle.
And now Remy!
Remy Ma got into the Christmas spirit rocking the same Balmain dress while taping her holiday special with her husband Papoose and family, “A Merry Mackie Holiday.” She opted to pair her dress with fire red pumps and she also rocked her hair similar to Nicki’s -- long, dark tresses with a part down the middle.
So who rocked it better Remy or Nicki!
