Madonna Declares: “Kanye Is The New Madonna”
With dozens of pop hits to her credit, Madonna certainly knows talent when she sees it. The “Like a Virgin” songstress invited Kanye West to join her on three songs from her new album Rebel Heart and it sounds like she’s pleased with the results.
Madge told the New York Daily News, "Kanye is the new Madonna. Kanye is the black Madonna. We know, and recognize, that we have that in common. We're comrades in the envelope-pushing genre."
Furthermore, "There's a lot of reminiscing on this album. I've been doing what I've been doing for over three decades, so in many ways I feel like a survivor. I see that many of my peers, and friends, and people I collaborated with are no longer with us. That gave me pause. I said, ‘Wow, I can’t believe I made it this far.’ That was a catalyst for me."

Kevin Hart Is On Track for the Biggest Comedy Tour of All Time
Kevin Hart is an enormously popular comedian, with hit movies, albums and television appearances, a huge fan base and global name recognition. Yet it may come as a surprise to learn that his upcoming What Now? tour, which begins April 9 in Texas, is on track to become the highest grossing comedy tour ever reported to Billboard Boxscore, selling more than 600,000 tickets and grossing $35 million to date — and it’s only March.
Reports Global 14: In New York alone, Hart quickly sold out two shows at Madison Square Garden, along with Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. — a trio of metro-area plays that only the most confident pop or rock stars would even attempt (and he’s already booked a fourth area venue in Wantagh, N.Y. for August 28). To top it off, Hart, 35, will wrap the tour at Lincoln Financial Field in his hometown of Philadelphia on Aug. 30 – making him the first comedian ever to headline a stadium.
By every metric — ticket sales, festival appearances, venue size and the sheer volume of comics doing strong business — live comedy is at its highest-ever level, pulling in annual revenues of more than $300 million, Billboard estimates. But even by that standard, Hart is in a league of his own.
“The tour is truly remarkable,” says Geof Wills, president of Live Nation Comedy (promoter of 60 of the nearly 70 shows on Hart’s tour), citing the $70 average ticket price and the multiple shows in arenas — often two sellouts in one night. While other comics often focus films and television at the expense of full-scale tours, Hart “wants to do the films, the specials and the concerts,” says Wills. “Kevin is really going for it all.”
Hart, who is booked by Mike Berkowitz at APA, has been touring nationally since 2009, and began adding arenas to his route a few years ago when doubles at performing arts centers and theaters were selling out quickly. On his last tour in 2012, Hart stepped up to arenas in “quite a few markets,” Wills says. Numerous film roles, an active social media presence, and the non-polarizing nature of Hart’s comedy continue to boost the comic’s popularity.
Georgia Garbage Man Jailed For Starting Work Too Early
The state of Georgia needs to get its sh*t together. Pronto. A garbage man in Silver Springs was jailed for starting work too early.
Reports Atlanta Sun Times:
A Sandy Springs sanitation worker said he was taken to jail for picking up trash too early in the morning, a violation of the Georgia city’s ordinance.
Kevin McGill will spend the next 14 weekends in jail because he picked up trash minutes after 5 a.m. one morning—an offense worthy of automatic jail time, according to the city solicitor.
Chief prosecutor Bill Riley said picking up waste too early in the morning has been a recurring problem no matter what approach is taken to limit the issue. He asked the judge to sentence McGill to 30 days in jail.
According to Riley, “fines” aren’t working so jail time seems like the best alternative.
Being that he had only been on the job for three months, McGill was just following what he saw others doing.”I used to see other trucks there all the time so I thought it was okay, and it wasn’t,” he told WSBTV .
He was given a citation and “automatic jail time” once he showed up in court. Even though this was McGill’s first offense for early garbage pickup, the court didn’t care much. “I was stunned. I didn’t know what to think. I was shocked.”
His lawyer believes a “warning” would’ve been more appropriate. Now, McGill has to spend weekends away from his wife and “two little boys,” and in jail with actual criminals.
Silver Springs sanitation workers are supposed to pick up garbage at 7 a.m. local time.
Football Recruit Gives Oklahoma University “IDWFU” Treatment After Racist SAE Video
The University of Oklahoma isn’t just losing entertainment opportunities as a result of backlash from the viral racist SAE fraternity video.
They’re losing out on key football players who could get their program back to the top form of the early 00s.
All-American offensive tackle Jean Delance of Texas’ North Mesquite High School took to his Twitter account today, March 9, to reveal that he would no longer be attending OU after committing to the team in November 2014.
“Firstly want to say thank you for giving me an opportunity to get my education and play football at OU, but I have officially de-committed from Oklahoma University,” he tweeted in an iPhone “Notes” message. “Nothing to do with the staff or team, I’ll be reopening my recruitment due to personal reasons.”
Gee, we wonder those personal reasons were? Delance was ranked the Scout 150 (meaning he’s the real deal) and reportedly turned down several prestigious schools as he was hellbent on being a Sooner.
Now it appears he’s being courted from looking past the Big 12 and into the SEC.
There’s no sense of being where you’re not wanted, right?
The ‘Scandal’ Cast Attends PaleyFest Panel;
The Scandal cast gathered at PaleyFest in Los Angeles to discuss their hit show.
During the panel – moderated by late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel – the cast touched on the recently aired Ferguson-centric episode and Columbus Short’s dramatic departure from the hit show last summer.
On the Ferguson-centric episode:
“I was very moved that [Shonda Rhimes] had a lot of feelings about what’s been going on,” said Kerry Washington. In response to an audience member’s suggestion that Olivia seemed to connect more strongly to her blackness during this particular episode, Kerry continued, “It eclipses any one person’s identity because it’s about lives mattering, regardless of who they are.”
Tony Goldwyn (Fitz) chimed in.
“We had no idea that was coming – the multifaceted way Shonda enters into this conversation, the unflinching, uncomfortable, complicated way she did it.”
“I don’t know how (Shonda) does it, except she’s just very dialed into the American consciousness, and she’s deeply passionate about it.”
On Columbus Short’s departure:
After Jimmy fielded an awkward question from a fan asking about Columbus’ departure from the show – a question that induced laughter from the crowd – Kerry offered a classy yet mute response.
“The one thing that I would say, just so that it’s clear: Everyone who’s in this family is in this family, whether you’re on this show or not. I don’t celebrate the laughter at that question. I understand the question, and thank you for giving us so many viewers, and thank you for understanding why we’re not going to answer that.”
The cast also previewed upcoming storylines, including Lena Dunham’s March 19th guest appearance. Check out two photos of Lena in character below.

Jussie Smollett Confirms His Sexuality: “There’s Never Been A Closet That I’ve Been In”
After Jussie Smollett’s character on the hit drama Empire came out as gay, there were several conflicting reports regarding the 31-year-old’s personal lifestyle. But in an effort to stop the chatter and ongoing scrutiny, the actor opened up about his sexuality to talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
After Jussie wrapped up his segment on The Ellen Show, he and DeGeneres sat down for a private, candid conversation backstage. “It was really important to me to make sure that it got across that there is no closet,” Smollett said. “There’s never been a closet that I’ve been in. I don’t own a closet, I got a dresser, but I don’t have a closet. I have a home and that is my responsibility to protect that home.”
“So that’s why I choose not to talk about my personal life,” he explained. “But there is without a doubt, no closet that I’ve ever been in and I just wanted to make that clear. But it was most important for me to make that clear to you on your show at this time in the world. And that’s where I’m at.”
Smollett further added, “Let’s not read into it the wrong way when I say that I don’t talk about my personal life. I’m saying that, but there is no way to hide or deny who God made me, you know? My mama knows.”
“We are human and we love,” he concluded. “I’m honored for this opportunity and I’m honored to be here with you.”
