Oprah Winfrey & Tyler Perry Cover Essence Magazine

Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry share the cover of the June 2013 issue of Essence Magazine.

They are also partners. Oprah got an exclusive right to broadcast ALL the original shows written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry starting this year.

“We both know how rare this is,” says Oprah in her interview with Essence. “Where else in the history of our African-American culture have two really, really successful people who can do whatever they want said, ‘Let’s come together and be even more powerful—let’s take it to the tenth power?’”

They also touch on building their brands and the impact business has on their friendship.

Former NBA Player Chris Gatling Charged for House Squatting

Former NBA player Chris Gatling is facing criminal charges after being accused of squatting in a luxury home in Paradise, Ariz. for the past year!

Yes, and it gets worse.

According to CBS 5, the man broke into the home and lived there from July 2010 to August 2011 and even tried to rent out the space on Craigslist for $800 a month.

The four-bedroom home actually has an owner. The family lives in California and left the house locked with he utilities on.

Court records reveal that Gatling reportedly received a down payment from one prospective renter but when another also inquired about the property, he or she became suspicious about the entire set up and alerted police.

But his lawyer, Michael Alarid says the whole situation is a “misunderstanding.”

”We’re hopeful that we can resolve everything as soon as possible,” he told CBS 5.

Chris, who played for the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks, has a bit of criminal background.

He’s also been accused of forging personal checks from his ex-girlfriend and “funneling the money through College Bound All-Stars, a traveling youth basketball league that he managed and operated.”

Beyoncé Knowles is arguably the hardest-working entertainer in the world, so she can’t really be blamed for wanting things done her way. This diva deserves it all. Still, the demands Mrs. Carter has “allegedly” made (and allegedly used strongly) for her current tour are rather peculiar if they’re to be believed — but I’m posting them for craps & giggles

According to the Daily Star, Beyoncé’s alleged tour rider includes the following requests:

• A white dressing room with freshly-painted walls

• A new toilet seat, just installed

• Red toilet paper

• Healthy snacks (almonds and oatcakes)

• 100 percent pure cotton clothes for her crew

• Alkaline water served at exactly 21 degrees

• Titanium drinking straws ($900 worth, supposedly)

Who uses red toilet paper? I guess I would, if I knew where to find it!

DJ Khaled, and LaLa Anthony hosted the GIG-IT Launch party in NYC.  Several celebrities and artist came out to support GIG-IT, Brittany Smooch, Elle Varner, Miguel, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross,Fabolous, 2 Chainz, Nas, Talib Kweli, Neyo and more.

Facebook are the creators of GIG-IT which will launch in May, GIG IT is a new social media game that will let players create 3D concerts featuring virtual versions of famous musicians along with music from the game’s library or music available to purchase within the experience. Justin Bieber & Usher Being Sued For Stealing A Song, Writer Wants $10 Million

R&B singer Usher, and his artist Justin Bieber are being sued for $10 million. A pair of songwriters claim that Bieber’s hit song “Somebody to Love” was stolen from them.

According to THEWRAP,

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in eastern Virginia on Thursday, Devin Copeland — an R&B singer who performs under the name De Rico — and songwriter Mareio Overton say that they wrote “Somebody to Love” in 2008, the same year that De Rico released the song on his album “My Story II.”

Copeland and Overton are hoping that silence speaks volumes, and are asking for “an amount not less that Ten Million and 00/100 Dollars ($10,000,000.00) or other such amount as may be proven at trial.”

Usher worked up a demo version of the tune and posted it on YouTube, the suit says, and while he ultimately decided not to record it, Bieber did, including it on his album “My World 2.0.”

The song, released by Bieber as a single, went to Number 15 on the charts, according to the suit. Moreover, Usher released a remix of the song, taking lead vocals with Bieber singing backup.

A dramatic dress can lead to a bit of drama on the red carpet.  Star Trek star Zoe Saldana had to get the help of her castmates after getting caught up in the panels of fluffy, satiny & silky that was her gown.

The white bottom was layered with fabric and split into origami style panels while the top of the sleeveless dress was embellished with simple pieces of fabric and an open back.

Zoe paired her look with black Louboutin ankle strap Rampoldi pumps and swept up her hair into an old Hollywood look:

The dramatics were definitely in effect.  But...Ladies would you Rock it, or Drop it?

33 High School Students Suspended for ‘Twerking’ Video

Dozens of San Diego area high school students have been suspended and banned from prom or commencement because of a twerking video according to one parent.

The video, created recently by students in a media class at Scripps Ranch High School, shows teenaged girls twerking while doing handstands to a YG song.

Thirty-two students danced and one student used school property to videotape the group outside class during 6th period.  Later, the student used school editing equipment to add music and post the clip to YouTube.

As a result, all 33 students were suspended as of Tuesday through the end of the week the parent told NBC 7.

Meanwhile, parents are saying that the school should not have suspended the students, but rather used the incident “as a teaching moment to remind students that when a person is videotaped, he/she never knows where it’s going to go.”

At least one school board member, Scott Barnett, plans to bring up the twerking video at Tuesday’s board meeting to ensure that the punishment fit the crime.

Star Magazine: Kim Kardashian Nanny Pam Behan Tells All!

Reality star Kim Kardashian and her momager Kris Jenner are featured on the cover of the latest issue of “Star” magazine. According to the tabloid, Kim’s former nanny, Pam Behan, is telling all!

In quotes on the cover is the obvious: The Kardashian and Jenner family is a “family of fakes”. Who knew?!? According to the tabloid, the nanny has a new book coming out that exposes 15 years of dark and dirty secrets. Featured on the cover is a story of “teen sex romps in parents’ bed”, “violent fights and cruel mind games” and how Kris has cruelly mocked “chubby” daughter Khloe. Ugh. There is nothing about this cover story that we don’t disagree with or disbelieve.

There was a time when we'd hear about controversial rapper Azealia Banks beefing with someone at least once a month.  From Iggy Azelea and T.I., to Angel Haze and A$AP Rocky, Young Rapunxel was never at a loss for words...until now. 

Though the "Liquorice" rapper dazzled on the blue carpet for the Ferragamo "Launch Of L'Icona" this week (shown above), fans will notice that there have been very few tweets from the rapper. We've now discovered that she's taken a page from Chris Brown's public relations playbook and turned over her Twitter account to her record label. And in addition to the silence, her debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste, has been pushed back again.

The fiesty rapper has been in the studio with Frank Ocean's producer Om’Mas Keith. “I was very pleased to find out that she was an amazing artist, an artist’s artist,” Keith told Rap-Up TV. “The stuff that I worked on is very refreshing and creative.”

Maybe now...she'll have time to focus on creating a hit album and not stirring up trouble.
