Robin Roberts Helps Celebrate Sam Champion & Rubem Robierb’s Wedding!
"Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts attended her co-host Sam Champion's wedding to Rubem Robierb. The ceremony took place at Champion's New York City apartment.
Champion, "GMA's" weatherman, announced his plans to marry his longtime partner earlier this year. Roberts did not appear on Friday's "GMA," but did attend the wedding. Roberts has been out on medical leave since early September undergoing treatment for a rare blood and bone marrow disorder, MDS.
After undergoing a bone marrow transplant, Roberts was discharged from the hospital a month later. She was briefly re-admitted when her body was fighting a common infection, but was out of the hospital within a few days.
Though Roberts has been on medical leave and not appearing daily on "GMA," she has continued to communicate with viewers through video messages on ABC News and through Twitter. The network also documented her journey for viewers to remain abreast of her recovery.
